It was 1 am-2 am when I decided: OOOO I should mess with Star's design again... so tell me... Why did it work???

The cape is ugly af, but the rest of the deign is actually...GOOD??? I am in shock since this rarely happens when I actually like how the colors came out on any character-

UNFORTUNATLY, the cape is what ruins it due to how BLAND it is. Not only that, but it is VERY important to how I design his cape. Like basically:

Yes, that is how important his cape is! I wanna talk about what his cape means in another post where I talk about the Star Realm, but for now, I got this ugly ahh cape.

Not only that, the rims with the colors being gold is actually wrong with how I wanted to make his color pallet. The gold rims (ON HIS CAPE NOT THE REST OF THE OUTFIT) are supposed to be a light blue to signifiy a lake. HOWEVER, I tried to see what it would look like, especially here and in my other post here, where it just does not work with his design. Sure, the light blue is nice, but doesn't fit no matter how hard I try to make it look nice. The gold rims work way too well to where the only light blue where it would work, would only be seen on the back of his cape...WHICH IS UGLYYYYYYYYY

Perhaps I go with either a different cape? Change up the color pallet? Or try to make it work with the lore of the Star Realm? (Yeah I'm being serious, thats how important his cape is and how I represent it. If it doesn't look good or work, then idk... I really wanted to incorprate the star realm onto his cape. I might have to come up with a symbol of the star realm if this doesn't work)

The front however, is actually okay, which is basically the little circle with the ribbon draping over his cape. It is just as important as the rest of the design of his cape, ESPECIALY with those 2 pieces in particular. I dont have a problem with it, since it is what I wanted it to look like in the first place and works well with the design either way.

I don't want to continue empathizing on how important it is to how I represent his cape, but it is overall significant to his design. So I'll talk about the bottom of his design since it is actually where I had trouble with before.

To be specific, it is how I wanted his top to look like. Either I wanted a closed off semi-skirt like what the original or what @signed-sapphire and @chillwildwave did with their star boy's design, or go with a more open skirt like what @oh-shtars and @spectator-zee with theirs. It ofc ended up being more open, just it being shorter. I was unironically inspired by Eugene's outfit lmao but the rest came by easy. I knew I wanted his shoes to be almost up to his knees cause he needs to be FANCYYYYY. I also changed up his sleeves and made it more flowy cause I wanted more fun with his design and works with his character :D

Speaking of character, this somewhat works with his character. SOMEWHAT. He is pretty a optimistic kind of prankster, but I feel like his bright personality is toned down to how dark the outfit came out. I know it is to represent the stars since...you know..he is one, just that (quote from one of my bsfs (TY FOR YOUR INSIGHT BTW)) "the outside is more dark whilst the inside has lighter colors, it makes it look like a glowing star trying to hide, a bit".

I mean, makes sense to why he needs to hide: Maggy wants to make sure he is fucking dead- JOKES ASIDE, it works with context, but he doesn't nessicairly like hiding stuff, like he is pretty open about his feelings for example, but like I said, it also works since he has to hide from the people of Rosas and her parents or else he's seen as the monster (rawr rawr rawr) in their eyes 💀

That aside, you probably notice I changed up his hair. Why? Because I wanted to try something and make it have more depth. It works, so it stays for now.

Is this the final design for him? No. Its not. Until I get the cape right, I still have to get his design working. At least it is working with how I am envisioning it, minus the few little details that make me annoyed for no particular reason other than it needing to work with his character and world.

My next post is going to be an update to the Maggy silly lil backstory cause...it is REALLY important to the story 😭😭

i like the headcanon he knows humans, knows some of their quirks, and how they were the first ppl the other hylian villagers called on to help stuck cows or downed wagons, lots of heavy lifting stuff

but he really hasnt seen the extent of real humans, bc the humans who were in Ordon, well, they lived in hylian society,

why would they need the adrenaline to lift a car when hylians have set up whole tools and systems in all their towns to help lift just a full bucket of water out of the well??

not to mention, i think all the humans in his village were older adults? like at least not the age theyd be doing things like parkour or going to any trampoline parks type of age,

id imagine its more like stories talked about amongst hylians how hard humans can go, and even the humans themselves talked abt things like,

“well compared to u hylians, we have stomachs made of molten lava to you guys really, but we never have to use it, bc u know hylian food works just fine”

when Twi asked they would say stuff like that, but as soon as he saw ur human ass just picking wildflowers and berries off the side of the road to snack on? even random grasses/vines at some point (kudzu)?? easily eating Wild’s Dubious Food that's DEFINITELY got monster parts in it???! gnawing on the bone of a cucco and it just breaks??!!! and you look surprised too, thank fuck finally a normal reaction from u- oh my goddesses u were just curious (damn the elders were right abt human curiosity too) **and are now sucking out the marrow and eating the bone-!!!!!!!!!!!!

Twilight’s perspective of you is actually the equivalent of like, reading stories about vampires all ur life, then this new friend you made starts to get allergic to garlic, crave blood, has crazy strength and advanced senses, etc

and he’s just watching those honest-to-Hylia human mythological feats play out in real time in front of him, like he’s the only self-aware character in the story that immediately clocks the really obvious vampire as a vampire lmao

is the first to either 1. start choking on his laugh as he theoretically knows ur about to jump on the back of a lynel/hinox to ride it around and watch as the others come to the same conclusion OR 2. try to Stop you from jumping on said big monster in an attempt to ride it around bc he gets used to ur human BS quicker than the others and can see it coming a mile away now lol

Y/N L/N: I didn't love myself, I had a pretty low self esteem. While, the things that she shared weren't true - I thought that the critiques about my looks, my personality and my voice had some truth. When you don't love yourself, it's pretty easy to see your flaws.

Y/N L/N: My boyfriend, actually recommended that I take a social media break just to tune everything out. And that proved to be successful. I left the public eye for a year. I wasn't physically seen for more than a year and i't's been a wonderful journey of healing.

We Are the Series - final thoughts

There are so many reasons that I like watching series & movies from other countries. It's such a great way to broaden my perspective and to get outside of my bubble. To see the big differences in how people live around the world, as well as the little differences in day to day life. To better understand cultural norms, and storytelling norms, and how my own cultural bias intersects with both.

There's also all the beautiful cultural details, getting to see ceremonies and festivals and holidays. To see the beauty of the landscape. To listen to the language, and start picking up little expressions and to appreciate the nuances.

But along with all of the learning opportunities, I also absolutely love it when I watch something from a different culture, and have that "oooh" moment of recognition. That moment when you realize that regardless of culture, what is being depicted on screen is resonating deeply. Because someone halfway around the world has had an experience in common with you.

Let me tell you about my college friends.

It was pure dumb luck that we all met. An utterly random assortment of chance. But somehow this group of awkward nerds all blundered together within the first few weeks of college. Most of us were introverts. We were from all parts of the U.S. We came from all types of families. We were Agnostics, Christians, and Pagans. Over time we would intersect with other groups, we all had different majors, different casual friends & study buddies, people dated, people broke up, but our core group of friends was together all four years.

We didn't like going to parties much, it was too loud and crowded. We got drunk together, where we felt safe and happy. We'd go to the school dances as a group, and be silly. We'd sing songs (usually badly). We'd dance in the rain. We would sit on the roof of our dorms and read stories to each other. We would end up at the local playground at midnight when the slides & swings would belong only to us. As we got older and started being entrusted with keys to academic buildings, we'd go in late and play, having rolling chair races in the long hallways or playing sardines. We'd tease each other, and sometimes laugh so hard we could barely breathe.

We also were there for the breakups and the burnout. For the roommate conflict, and the family hurt. For the coming outs.

Of course things do change when you graduate, and we all dispersed back to separate parts of the U.S. (one of the disadvantages of living in such a huge-ass country). But we still keep up. We still can come together and have fun. Some of us play games together. Some of us travel together. Some of us still talk every single week, because we are family, and that's been the case for over 25 years.

I had a moment, when watching this show, where I realized that P'New must have had some amazing friends in his life. Because he just made a love letter to them.

And the friends in this show - they're my friends. Not in a one-on-one comparison kind of way, but in a "this is my little group of idiots too" kind of way. The playfulness, the freedom from judgement, the encouragement, the support, the love. The knowing that even if life pulls some of them further apart, that the way they are loving each other unconditionally now will always matter.

There are other things I liked about the show, I've talked about tropes before and how I enjoyed P'New playing with them in a "eff off with this old school BS" kind of way, the romances were fun and cute, but ultimately, this show was 100% about love for friendship to me. About what it means to find your people, to make your family, to choose love in all its forms without holding one kind higher than another. And to appreciate it when you have it, because it is so damn special.

How can I possibly come out of this feeling anything but good?

lemme ramble for a bit

so i have this story in my head of my self insert and the bs they go through while working at the pizzaplex for like 2 years as a night guard

and originally they were gonna die at the end of it before the events of security breach, smth about them finally getting what they wanted bc that’s one of the reasons they wanted to work there in the first place. but i thought that was way too sad, despite, yknow, it being a horror and if i was in their place id definitely be dead before then. plus there are some things worse than death in the fnaf universe. so i decided to veer away from angst for this story and go for a more thriller horror (maybe psychological) type thing yknow? makes it more fun

THEN i was like yo what if ghosts kids start haunting them to help them find their killer and there’s like 1 for each pizzaplex animatronic (excluding freddy and roxy bc they got gregory and cassie). and it could be super angsty bc 2 of the kids were inadvertently killed because of moon and one was killed by moon, and my s/i is super close with moon right? so it would be like a moral dilemma, bc they want to help the kids but they still want to be friends with moon, but they’re also horrified that he killed a kid. and my s/i would start dreaming and sleepwalking, forced by the ghost kids to relive their deaths to try and find who killed them. but then i started thinking about the timeline of that, and it would mean moon would’ve had the virus or whatever years before this story takes place, which isn’t what i wanted nor did it make sense. so after a while i was just like nahhhh, and it didn’t really mesh well with the story of security breach anyways, its more sci-fi than supernatural now, and including the ghost kids would just be too much crammed into self insert story i have. the kids designs im still gonna use tho lol

NOW after getting back into fnaf after like a few months of not really caring about the lore, i’ve been watching more theory videos and book summaries and stuff like that and it made me shift my whole view on security breach’s story

so i’ve decided that i wanna stick as close to canon lore as possible and make gregory and vanessa/vanny more present and important. i want to focus more on the issues with ai, and show the slow downfall and problems with depending solely on them. i also need to figure out why my self insert has plot armor bc anyone in their situation would’ve been fired or killed by now (i don’t have to stick that close to canon for this i guess). but im just gonna justify it as they’re a pushover who doesn’t ask any questions and just does what they’re told, which is pretty much what got the other employees fired or killed bc they did the opposite (they’re also a huge nerd about robots so they end up being good friends with all the animatronics which is a HUGE plot point in this story, friendship is the real magic love conquers all etc. etc.) don’t get me wrong, they are fully aware of how wrong things are in the pizzaplex and how some things vanessa has told them don’t add up, but they are a good little employee (they are a severe people pleaser) so they feign ignorance to it all.

my self insert being autistic and having adhd is also a big thing i wanna include, bc there’s some really specific shit about their autism that would affect how they survive and stuff. things like trauma responses, masking, unmasking, meltdowns, and shutdowns that will affect their relationships with the others and will domino affect over time and lead to them surviving. idk ive just been thinking a lot lately about social interactions and experiences i have that are negatively or positively impacted specifically because of my autism. choices choices

i also want to make sure that it’s clear how neglected all the animatronics are. not just the dca since it is intended to be a s/i x sun and moon story. but there’s a lot of issues the in game messages have talked about with the animatronics that seem to happen because no one is bothering to help them. they just put a bandaid on a situation but they don’t fix the root problem yknow. also, my s/i doesn’t think the animatronics are sentient at first, and i want that to be a big thing that gets explored several times throughout the story bc i love thinking about robot sentience.

at first i was gonna have monty sort of start to be nice to my s/i, and maybe they could be friends or even have a sibling type relationship (red hair lol) but then i was like nah, monty being an asshole is what makes his character interesting. plus his behavior is a nice contrast from the rest of the band. though i think it would be funny for some characters to think monty is my s/i’s favorite at first bc their hair is dyed red

i also want sun and moon to be as close to canon as possible. while i love love LOVE pretty much every dca x reader fic i ever read, i have a preference for canon depictions of sun and moon lol. no hate to fanon depictions of sun when i say this, but ive been lost in the sauce of fanon sun for too long, and i wanna make him passive aggressive, and sarcastic, and picky, and fussy!! but still an anxious wreck and a people pleaser perfectionist. i’ll admit im still struggling with this. it was kinda hard to get a gauge on his personality at first because until help wanted 2 we had only seen how he interacts with kids. and even though in universe that isn’t the real sun it’s the only indication we have of how he interacts with adults, so im taking it. moon is still gonna be mischievous, creepy as hell, and won’t talk much, but he’s not gonna be killin anyone (yet), he’s just gonna be kind of a stalker lol. also the dca and freddy have beef for some reason, it’s a personal head canon of mine but im adding it to this story hehe

lots of physical injuries, several concussions, a migraine so bad they loose the ability to communicate properly (smth i experience) will all happen to them, bc i am throwing them through the ringer. they will be stressed more often than not. get projected on idiot (i say that as if this isn’t my self insert and is literally me)

tbh this story would mostly be just a slice of life, shenanigan, character driven thing for most of it. but then little things brought up in the past will become important to the plot later on.

like how copyright music can’t be played in front of any of the animatronics or else they will freak out :]

Hello! Thank you again for always taking the time to respond to any notes I send, can’t wait to see what comes next! On your IG I noticed how Sakura’s Crown of the Sun seal reminds me of Hashiram’s warrior monk sage mode from a cosmetic pov. Which made me think about how you pointed out how Sakura is thematically a Senju or represents them in the overall themes of the story. Which leads to a head cannon I wanted to bounce off you. Shinachiku in other fanfics I have read he’s never written to have Sage mode which would be something that fits his universal traits given to him. From the show/manga I felt that Sage mode you a character who had the physical, mental & spiritual fortitude. Shina fits the bill but if he were to have a Sage mode it would look similar to Hashiram that way he’s not following directly in his father footsteps but it gives Sakura homage as Shina powers align closer to her. Which I like that Shina both in designs and abilities come from Sakura. It makes him unique not just to be another Naruto clone which only really works when you have a tragic backstory like him. My point is that I felt like Shina that warrior monk sage mode shows his duality as a character. He’s universally acknowledged as a skilled medic which implies he has a value and sanctity for life and seeks to prevent death and heal others but at the same time he’s expert hand to hand combatant and wields tanto blades which are specifically made for killing. It’s one of things I love about his character that duality, he’s both the yin and yang. Much like his parents. Sorry for the long paragraph I just enjoy sharing these thoughts!

I'll start by saying please stop apologizing for these long asks, I love them! Even if I'm not always able to respond right away to them, do know that I love getting them and reading them and exchange all these headcanons with you.

Makes my heart smile when I see someone is really analyzing Kaika in such a beautiful way. Feels like an honor, tbh.

Now to get to the actual point of the story...

First of all, Sakura's seal... well, there's a reason why I made that seal the way I did it. Those old theories of mine echoes so hard and far away, that nowadays they're used as commercial hook in the franchise.

And it's not the first time that I see in the franchise concepts that have been used that I talked about at some point in my theories.

One of the biggest I've seen is ironically the one theory that I couldn't recover after losing my blog 2 or 3 times already (lost the count tbh cuz when you have to build it from scratch every time, it's so tiresome honestly) called Spiritual Enlightenment: Sakura Haruno, Slug Sage mode and possible genjutsu connection.

Most of what I see in the sequel nowadays in terms of certain power-ups are mechanics that I've laid down in that theory that I lost.

Most will say that eh, I'm talking BS cuz I don't have that theory so I don't have a way to prove it. But the thing is, there are certain residuals/artifacts if you may say so of that theory around the internet.

So then, the reason I had her seal look like Hashirama's is precisely because I'm making use of my own theories in a way that I think Kishimoto wanted to develop Sakura, like I said so many times.

Now, as for Shina, the way I plan on developing him has connections to that and doesn't at the same time. I won't go too much into detail, but I made him that way because I wanted to have something unique to him, in a way, like you said. I don't want him to be a copy of anyone.

That's why some of the power-ups I have in mind for him are and aren't connected to that specific similarity. I have a little twist in mind.

But what I do have prepared for Shina, is the Heaven & Earth symbolism in his power-ups. He's not gonna necessarily fit the warrior monk archetype tbh. If anything, the monk type will fit more for Arashi, the way I have him built.

But, in a way partially, it will also fit with Shina. So you see, that's why I say that it is and it isn't at the same time. But I do get from where you're coming and I agree with you in the sense that Shina has respect for the sanctity of life. After all, he is very laid back and respectable like Katsuyu. That's why she becomes his favorite summon and always has a Katsuyu plushie haha.

The thing is, I built all 3 siblings in a way that fit certain themes and symbolism, but with a unique twist, I'd say.

For example one of Shina's power-ups is going to be tied to Hanami, and through that, Hanami also gets her own power-up. Arashi in a way is the one who's more hermit/monk like so his power-ups aren't tied directly to his siblings per se. But that's because I want Arashi to be more connected with the Uzumakis.

And I did all that because I wanted to have the family theme represented in more ways than one, which is the classic blood relation.

I won't go exactly into too much detail because I don't want to give away the "juicy" parts so to speak, haha. But I hope everyone will find it as interesting as I seem to be finding them in my head, lol.

So my brain is being weird today and after a short convo with someone, my brain is refusing to let this go for some reason. Anyways, I'm going to to be taking about the shipping in this fandom because why not and I want an excuse to talk about slendytubbies ships lol. If I seem out of it, it's because my brain is barely functioning and it's 1 am for me lol.

To start with, why is there always some type of cheating? I can point to a few stories where cheating is involved and I really don't understand why, you can write a story about romance that doesn't include cheating. It also becomes a bit more confusing to me if it involves the main four because they've known each other for most likely their whole lives, so why not just talk to each other you multi coloured jellybeans??

This is more of a nit pick I don't like with ships involving either Tinky or Dipsy, like why are they being a the least inappropriate and for Tinky (I don't know or remember if this has happened with Dipsy), I'm going to be some of the depictions feel... Uncomfortable for one reason or another, like he's about to actually hit someone.

So, what about the girls? I'm going to be honest, I hate people make them jealous to the point they want to kill someone. I don't know shit about how break ups feel but wanting to kill someone over it feels very extreme. It's like dealing with an ant hill by blowing up the lawn.

Now this is the part where I'm just going to rant about Tinky X Po and Laa-Laa X Dipsy because why not and my own self indulgence because I actually ship them (I'm weird, I'm aware). I also have never been in a relationship too.

Like why not explore how the fuck they even got into their relationships? Would they even realise that they were in love because they don't have anyone to learn from other then Noo-Noo and he's a robot vacuum who probably doesn't feel true emotions.

Po seems to be good at fixing machines so why not Tinky helping Po to fix something or him asking Po about it. If you want to do something with Tinky, why not him having a rough day for one reason or another and Po just checking up on him.

Also some infected BS because why not (might/will contain headcannons). Tinky is probably going to be a mess because in this context he not only killed his two friends he's known since his whole life but also his gf who he's also know since childhood. He probably might be scared of himself afterwards because "if it can happen once, it can happen again"

Po is also going to be a mess because she just saw her friends murdered by her bf and then she was killed too. So she probably doesn't fully know what to feel because yes she killed her bf but she also knows he wasn't in control of his body. I can see this being more confusing if she did end up killing people because now she knows exactly what it's like from the other end.

How they would probably sort this out would be interesting, because it could be a simple as them just talking to each other about everything.

Now for Dipsy and Laa-Laa, this one is probably going contain the most headcannons tbh. To start of with, why not Dipsy and Laa-Laa talking about what's bothering them, Laa-Laa helping Dipsy to find his hat, Dipsy with her ball or just random things they find interesting.

As for the infected stuff well, it can either be angst, fluff or a mix of both. Given that their are two routes where you kill Laa-Laa you could make it so that a headless Dipsy just stumbles across her body but is either too out of it to realise what it is or he's just freezes in place in stunned horror.

Them getting used to their new infected bodies with Laa-Laa being blind and Dipsy (mostly like due to obvious reasons) having some type of nerve damage along side a few other problems. I often image these two just cuddling whilst sleeping.

School Briefs 1 saved me from my reading slump, thank u School Briefs 1.

I actually did read a ton these past few weeks, both long fics I've been chipping away at and my physical TBR, and I feel like reading this book with the intention of writing some kind of review was what finally booted my brain back into book mode (hi alliteration). If I can finish my current read by my next bookstore visit I am picking up the second one so fast !!

It's been a minute since I typed up a full, actual book review, so this might be even more disorganized than my usual word salad. I am reaching back for those bookstagram skills but the arms of memory are not quite long enough 😔 I did stick a lot of page tabs in this book to help me out, because old habits die hard, or they don't die at all, but page tabs are pretty and I'm one of those people who can't write in my books, even the ones I intend to keep. Idk, I just can't do it </3 Also do you know how difficult it was to not stage a full 2020 era bookstagram photo for this post. Do you know.

Overall, I really enjoyed this! It was cute, and the illustrations were so <3 <3 There were definitely some things I could live without (mostly comments from Mineta and Midnight, which are def also present in the main series, but I feel like they were even more over the top in this book?? Like??? I genuinely found myself grimacing at times while reading, it was very uncomfy). Also, Uraraka, Tsu, and Yaoyorozu's sidequest, while incredibly cute, was definitely... ig a 'the girls that get it get it, and the girls that don't don't' moment and I did not get it. Why were we so obsessed with underwear in this book. ANYWAY ON TO THE TABS.

Starting off strong with Todoroki's Sick Burns (no pun intended). He really tried to come for Sero's 'Funniest Bakugou Takes' crown in this book. Todoroki's subplot was actually my favorite thing about this story--more on that in a moment.

Also, this made me so 🥺 He fit in so well with 1-A from the start that it's easy to forget Midoriya was decently unpopular in middle school. The palpable social anxiety in this line is so real.

Can we talk about the Todorokis... (actively dissolving into a puddle of tears) can we please talk about the Todorokis... Rei tries so hard in this book. FUYUMI tries so hard. Their storyline was such a tender thread running through what was otherwise an incredibly goofy book. There were some aspects of like, Todoroki Family Life(TM) that I had never given much thought to? Like how Todoroki's poor social skills among his own age group had probably impacted his (and Fuyumi's) life pre-UA, the responses of other characters like Midoriya, Iida, and Aizawa to what they respectively know about his situation, etc. It was just. Really ough. Augh. Alack, if you will.

TODOROKI STAND UP COMEDY TOUR. I live for Shouto & Fuyumi & Natsuo interactions, my skin is clear and my crops are watered. Shouto & Fuyumi were so precious in this.

I talked about this scene already, but omg how I loved the entire staff room chapter. I've always found the UA faculty as a concept deeply entertaining (what do you MEAN the superheroes are teachers. 'Sorry, I can't hang out after school. I have to study for a test in Batman's class.') and this chapter was just. So silly. I love them.

Really quick, do you think they ever get tired of being so everything to me? Aizawa spends this entire scene rolling his eyes at the other teachers' bs-ing and wasting time, deliberately not getting involved, but of course Mic still manages to drag him into it. Just couldn't help yourself could you.

My partner and I have been together for over five years and had talked about being open to polyamory since the beginning. We've been actively polyamorous for almost two years now, and it's getting to the point where I will have to open up about this side of my life to my family and I don't know how to do that without causing possible issues (they can be old fashioned, but aren't like super religious). I would love to hear advise on how to handle this, or hear people's stories about how it went when they shared this with their families. Thank you!

I've never had any reason to tell my family I'm poly, and never will without good reason. But I will throw in my two cents ¢ (which inevitably turns into a dollar 💲).

In no particular order:

You set the tone😨🤹. Don't forget this. You can play it off as kidding if you set it up that way or you can make this a "I am willing to never talk to you again if you're a dick" thing if you set it up that way. You decide if its A Formal Talk or if you're just kissing someone on the cheek and they get to figure out what tf that means or if you're inviting them to celebrate with you.

You control the informationℹ️. Decide what details you'd like for them to know. You can even lie to them about some parts if it will make the conversation go down easier for them. This might sound sleazy, but depending on how much shit you expect them to dish, might be smart.

Tailor your speech to your audience🗣️. Idk your situation, but certain framings will work better for different types of people. Some can come around to the idea with education, others will use more information as more ways to hurt you; some family members may care about your happiness above all and come to accept it through that lens, some may need to understand it, some may be most open to it if they can relate it to a familiar concept, etc. Some want these comversations in private, some will only keep themselves in check from the social pressure of making a scene. You'd know better than I would what that looks like for them.

Starting with the safest/most open person could be a good way to test the waters. If they take it well, you can have someone on your side to tell the others, and if they take it poorly, you can re-evaluate how you want to handle things.

Genie can't go back in the bottle🧞. Once they know, they'll always know. The only way to maybe work around this is to make it out to be "just a phase" and make sure only one partner is ever mentioned to them again. Which means I recommend figuring out your line in the sand for how much BS you're willing to put up from them ahead of time. Its hard to consider what you would do if they took it really badly, but its hedging your bets for a familiar broken heart.

This is a personal preference, but I'm a fan of dropping details casually and when you're going to be leaving soon. Its conflict avoidant. It gives them time to chew on it without you having to be there "did they really mean that? If they did how are our grandchildren going to be raised? They were kidding. But if they weren't--" you get the idea. And they can run through all that and only bother you with the most important questions next time. It seems to me easier on others because they're not sure its true yet. They can toy with what the idea means without all the wight of My Child Is Coming Out To Me, if that makes sense? Will NOT work on everyone, but worth a consider imho.

Let’s Talk How to Evaluate the Quality of a Book NOT on/in Your Specialization or Field

I’m going to start with some general bullet points of advice with discussion. Then I’ll give a concrete example of a book (or set of them) that I decided not to buy after a little rummaging.

The Basics

(These may seem obvious, but a lot of folks ignore them, like they skip over reading the introduction. Always read the book’s introduction!)

Who’s the author?

Most books have, on the back cover or inside, a note about the author. Also, google the person. Do they have a professional degree or some form of special training/ experience (e.g., say, they worked on a dig)? If they’re a professor, where do they teach? (But don’t put too much on that; the state of academia today means highly respected scholars could end up in Podunk Mississippi just to find a job.)

What type of book is it and who’s the intended audience?

Is it an academic book meant for other specialists? A book intended for use as a textbook? Something marketed to general audiences: “pop” history, or creative non-fiction? These may all be well-done. Yet if I’m wanting to learn about a topic I’m not familiar with, I specifically seek out a textbook, as they're geared to teach the topic to non-specialists. They won’t go down a research rabbit hole. Specifically in ancient history, those “Companion to…” collections are great, as you get multiple experts weighing in on what they know the most about. And they're intended for interested readers but not specialists in that particular topic. Also they’re curated by an editor who IS a specialist, so you know the chosen authors are respected in the field.

When was it written?

If the publication date is 50 years ago, it’s been superseded. It might be out of date even if it’s 20 years ago—or 10. But newer is not necessarily better.

What press published it?

Princeton, Cambridge, Brill/DeGruyter, Berkeley, Peeters, Harvard, Chicago. Any would be a good sign. But the University of Oklahoma does not mean it’s a bad book. (Beth Carney’s important first monograph on Macedonian women came from UOk.) University presses can corner the market on a particular topic: Univ. of Nebraska does a LOT of native history. Also, it may not be a university press at all. Routledge is perfectly respectable, as are Bloomsbury and Penguin. For local histories or something niche, you may get publication by a historical society, not a major press at all. (I picked up a perfectly fine book about ghost stories in the city of Savannah done by the local historical society.) BUT IF IT’S SELF-PUBLISHED, that’s a big ol’ Red Flag.

Going a Little Deeper

Ask somebody you know, who IS a specialist in the field, if they’ve read the book and what they think

Find a review (or three)

I regularly teach my undergrads (and grad students) to look for reviews.

Look at the bibliography

Probably more important for academic books, but how long is the biblio? Yes, topics can have more or fewer publications, but it should go on for some pages. Also, is it all in just one language? Some fields may tend that way (much American history), but a well-done monograph in, say, Greek or Roman history should not be monolingual in the research.

Actually check (don’t ignore) footnotes

They tell stories. Again, this largely pertains to academic books, but you can find fun (and occasionally catty) scholarly quarrels in them. Very early in my reading on Alexander, I became fascinated by the back-and-forth in footnotes between the “Three Bs” (Badian, Borza, and Bosworth) plus Green and Hammond. BUT some red flags: 1) the author disproportionately citing themself, especially if it’s because 2) the author seems to have quarrels with a large number of colleagues. Maybe the author is just original! But sometimes that tells you their conclusions are questionable. Use your common sense.

Now, for a concrete example … as some of you know, I have American indigenous ancestry, specifically Peoria-Miami (Myaamia). While I know some things about our tribe, I’m far from an expert. On our Facebook page, one of the other members recently dropped mention of a series on the early history of Indiana, and the conflicts between settlers and natives during the French-Indian Wars—including St. Clare’s Defeat, effected by the Myaamia and led by Little Turtle (Mihshihkinaahkwa), the worst defeat [proportionally] ever suffered by American troops.

I thought, Oh, cool, maybe I should pick these up and read them in my “copious” spare time. E.g., probably years from now.

I followed the provided link, and immediately thought, This doesn’t look good. Page ran on forever, not well organized, and I had to hunt for info about the author. Although he was a retired schoolteacher, he didn’t seem to have any specific training in doing historical research; I don’t think he was even a history major in college (probably did education). Additionally, the book-covers and purchasing info made it clear all the books were self-published, and the provided text snippets contained grammar errors.

Yeah, I left that page bookless. Maybe the info in them was perfectly fine and he just couldn’t find a publisher who wanted creative non-fiction about an event most people have never heard of led by a chief with a name most can’t pronounce…. But I’m going to bet the research matched the grammar: slap-dash.

Now, that was a relatively easy one to figure out; I spent all of 10 minutes on the page. (And no, I’m not naming the author nor linking to the books, as this is an example, not an attempt to humiliate the person.) But it gives you some idea how I evaluate books in a field very far from my own specialty.

How Selfishness Contributes to The Arch Illagers Down Fall

Authors Note ------ First, before we start this, as many others said, Minecraft Dungeons deserved a lot more than what it got. I wish within the game you could learn about his story, but of course, you have to pay 10-20 bucks for a book just to read it, the whole book is just the trailer and a little extra [AND more than the trailer could ever give] . However, I don't regret buying the book, that is how I got into the fandom myself. If you want to read it, I recommend going through Wikipedia for the plot, I could have made a PDF file of the book I bought, but I was the type in middle school to draw scenes onto it. However, within the post, you WILL get book snippets for character reference.

Let's be honest with ourselves, this game had so many chances to be a story all Minecraft players could enjoy around the world. Unfortunately, that is not the case...instead in my opinion, the game became slightly, if not a shameless way to market Minecraft to get quick money, it is like Legends and Earth, there was no way for these games to EVER have a good chance to become its own thing and be loved. To have to play DLCS to get the full story is BS in itself. The true story is about a victim of the orb of dominance whose decisions were affected by some selfishness.

Intro ---- Hey, do you remember that post with Magnifico and the Arch-Illager and about how the Arch-Illager had a better position to be the villain? Yeah, I still hold that opinion the ACTUAL reasons were... 1. The character in general. 2.The motives portrayed in the story. 3.The relationship between both 'characters' I still believe those reasons to be true, although the game sucks at letting that be what comes across. The story was a market attempt to allow players of the game to know the lore and... honestly, if it was in the game, it would have been nice... This idea came into concept after talking to a friend about how Walda mentions how Archie and Thord bickering was something that showed they were more concerned about themselves than anyone else...and to be honest? She is correct, this act of trying to make themselves look good without the concern of those who passed WAS selfish. I talked about how the main flaw of most characters was their selfishness within the story. Then in the silence, that gave me an idea, this essay here. Thord and Archie were thinking about themselves and that got Archie into trouble. Karl being self-absorbed over his 'feelings' being hurt caused Archies selfless action of leaving the village Archie BECAUSE of selfishness took the orb because he wanted to prove everyone wrong, not use it to better people's lives. Archie loses his Friends, the PEOPLE he loved because he was selfish to raid their village. The orb was selfish in wanting this power and using Archie as a vehicle for its true motives. Karl is smart enough to run away, but he is so selfish that he runs away, and NEVER comes back to help the heroes knowing what was happening was wrong. Hell, you could say it was pure fear that caused these actions. Walda and Thord were selfish to not only allow Archie out in the forest to die, but they were selfish enough to take Archies's throne. Thord was SELFISH and stole and his SELFISH behavior led to his death. These examples are what are here for reasons, Salah you could argue was selfish to want to kick Archie out...but that came with a little bit of logic and the thought of their people. Yumi does call them out, she KNOWS they would do nothing to defend the village compared to Archie. Yet Archie was selfless and knew it would be safer for his friends to leave.

Thesis - Selfishness contributes to the story.

In the story, the lesson can be that Selfishness contributes to eventual bad outcomes and conflicts. It repeatedly throughout the story shows that it leads to horrible things no matter how selfish it is. Like other villains, their selfish actions lead to harm. Frollo due to selfishness decides to continue with sin, leading to his death. Ursula due to selfish reasons, wanted the trident for herself, therefore it leads to her death. Scar due to his selfishness, wanting the throne, dies in consequence. All of these characters have a negative outcome due to selfishness on their part. However, this isn't about them, this is about several selfish characters in "The Rise of The Arch-Illager" who suffer from not being selfless... and one moment that shows that even with selflessness, it led to a selfish choice. What happens that is interesting is that...Archie is not really the antagonist, it's Thord. The story is about how Archie becomes the antagonist in the end, he does take on the position against the real protagonists, the heroes by the final pages and the damning raid revealed in the trailer. Archie gets another chance at the end of the story because the heroes know what kind of person Archie truly is. The narrator knew nothing of this, it is painted in a light that is misleading in a few ways. That speaks volumes about how different these things truly are. The narrator knows of the danger, not the person who causes it. The Arch-Illager is the combination of Archie and The Orb of Dominance. In fact, the future actions that are made, are also selfish decisions of the orb. This might explain why the Orb is destroyed and Archie isn't.

But this is about the Arch-Illager, or rather Archie, so let's talk about each listed selfish thing for Archie.

The Selfish Actions of Archie.

These actions are important because it shows the character of Archie, and how his past influences affect how he approaches the world. There are 3 arcs in my opinion, The Mansion Arc, The Village Act, and The Orb Act, each act develops Archies's character, but also shows his main traits. He is Compassionate, fearful, peaceful, and reasonable [justified or not], yet he can be selfish, aggressive, and defensive. He has so many times where it shows who he is. But this is about selfishness, not everything else. [] The Mansion Act [] This act marks the first selfish act when he got kicked out due to self-interest, and Walda's decision. Walda had several reasons to kick out Archie, that are addressed before he is kicked out. Like him being Weak, and that he 'endangered a life of a fellow Illager'. I will say how that is hypocritical due to Thord never getting kicked out due to him harming Archie. The selfishness comes from Archie caring about staying in the mansion, living and perhaps Thord to be gone. In those moments he didn't care much about what he might have done wrong, he put the blame on others, just like Thord did to him. His consequence was that after specific actions, Walda was upset, and despite his begging, she kicked him out forever. another consequence was that he was forced into the woods to try and survive.

[] The Village Act []

I would say this act is...interesting, there is no selfish behavior, in fact this arc marks his development. When he had defended Yumi, and his first selfless action happens here, which is important. You can say that Salah was a reason that Archie removes himself from the village, but in reality, Karl would have attacked either way. Karl KNEW who Archie was, if Salah was peaceful and Yumi had introduced Archie to the heroes, he would have attacked. Everyone knew salah was right including Yumi and Archie. That was when Archie was selfless, and that meant he was going...expect. [] The Orb Act [] This is an interesting act, because I have a feeling a lot of selfishness here ACTUALLY also includes the orb this time around. His development made him ready to face the woods, sure he almost died but he made it. It is revealed that the orb actually was a major reason for him getting guided there, and it means that Archie became a victim. Archie takes power from it, yet the Orb made him is vehicle for destruction. Even the orb says that their fates were 'forever intertwined', so here and forward it was a lot of the orbs decision too and was someone who encouraged these actions. Archie was also exhausted, so it was easier for the orb to get Archie on its side. Despite this, Archie still takes it because of Karl and Thord because they hurt him. To make them fall onto their knees, and yet it is interesting that the orb knows about his misery. In theory this means that he has some mindreading or some way to be in the victim's mind [like Bill Cipher]. Another selfish thing they do together is obviously raid the town, twice. This was selfish and it made Archie lose his dearest friends, and 'family'. The orb totally could have done this intentionally to put Archie in a spot where he would listen because he had no one else but it. They were selfish for trying to take the land and turning the villagers into slaves to 'work for the mines'. Archie knew these people to be someone people who did care, and yet...he did this to them. If anything in part I think this was the orbs decision, not Archies. The end of the book implies Archie is taken control of and from there it is easy to say anything else that happens that is selfish is of the orbs doing.

The Orb of Dominance and Manipulation

This is a lot more important than just Archie doing these actions, in fact the Orb protects Archie, feeds him, and gives him a place to sleep the FIRST day they met. This is a lot different than Yumi's decision, she did it out of empathy. She cannot guarantee full safety and comfort, but she can certainly try, and their friendship is mutual. They benefit each other and allow the other to learn some good traits. Yumi develops a point of view that explains Illagers and their violence and can sympathize with them a bit. Archie learns compassion for others, and that leads him to telling the Illagers to leave Yumi [and who she brings] alone purely due to it. Infact Archie even learns skills and actually helps the village, and it means he is thinking about others. Yumi doesn't let what upsets her to be bottled in when Archie is threatened. She speaks on how the heroes could care less of them, and would slaughter their pigs, cows, that they sleep in their beds, and steal their food. It speaks volumes on how and why she would trust Archie more than the heroes and it makes sense. The orb thought? it knows nothing, but the misery Archie has gone through and lures Archie into a position where he is listening and shakes its hand so to speak. Then when Archie is in its grasp it feeds him, comforts him, HELPS him. This thing is an object with a mind...if it had true compassion, it would welcome him with open arms to stay in the cavern and help before this. It is a small but important detail, it has no capacity to care, and will LIE to get its way, as Archie states near the end of the book. Half of the book is about how Archie is backed into this spot where the barley has no say in some of the actions, again acknowledged and implied by Archie that he was getting 'dominated' by the orb. He feels stupid for not thinking about the name before, yet...He was exhausted, weak, and literally just finished climbing a mountain before the deal was made. When you get to the boss fight that also proves that Archie was a vehicle to this, and he is TURNED into a monster by the orb of dominance because it wasn't getting what it wanted from Archie. We get not a single word in the game from this...and yet it is meaningful. Archie is making noise when he is sucked in, That I saw as possible pleading for his life, or even begging to just let him lose. Or he knew that the Orb wasn't going to let it end and he was forced to be in this position. Then...finally when the Orb was defeated and destroyed, Archie 'tries to keep on' [I don't think so], and it breaks. Archie free and ready to approach the world again. I think the orb in that moment was trying to hold onto Archie, wanting more, wanting the world and NEEDING its vessel. I mean that is how I see it based on their relationship. There are several times when Archie was ready to stop and leave this. SEVERAL in counting and I feel like it says a lot. Tldr: The orb is a manipulator who uses Archie as a vehicle to get what it wants for selfish gain.

Now...to talk about the actual topic of Villainy other than the orb.

Thord, how selfishness led to his death.

So... why is this important compared to someone as serious as the orb? Simple, he IS the true antagonist in the story. Until Archie took over the position of that role. He possibly intentionally backed Archie into getting kicked out of the tribe because he was selfish. He lies about Archie, with only a few truths to be selfish and keep himself there. He is selfish by blaming Archie of being the issue and then manipulates the situation by pretending he is hurt. After that he plots with Walda to bring Archie down because he is a selfish person. He steals from the Firey Forge because he does it out of benefit... The most interesting scene shows he is still selfish, begging for mercy, or a deal. He knows he fucked up and maybe will try to still hurt him, but he pleads. There is something interesting, a few chapters before the orb tells Archie to kill Thord, and he refuses to do so, instead making the raid early in the morning in spite. When he is robbing the Fiery Forge and Archie knows this... but Arc, who makes the suggestion to kill? The Orb, Archie is aware of Thords threat and has SUCH a good chance to make him pay for getting him kicked out. Kick him out for stealing and let him venture alone like HE did. To make him pay, He even suggests the idea of waiting to surprise Thord. He was not in the mood to wait. That is interesting, it was an interesting decision. Usually, Archie is rather patient, yet...listen to how the orb says this. " You need to defeat him. Now." Now I do think Archie had agency in his choice, he did. But... when he suggests the idea of waiting, that would be smart because then he could catch Thord and Walda and punish them both. But just to kill Thord? That is what interests me, I do have a feeling the orb had a lot more choice in what Archie does, but I also don't want to undermine that it was ARCHIE'S choice to choose how he could make Thord go. was this to scare him in his last moments to leave him vulnerable like he was to the monsters before? As they always do, Archie and Thord bicker, and both of them are upset. Archie WISHES to return the beating Thord had given him, but he makes the decision not to out of what Thord has, magic. After that, that is when Thord begs, and he is LITERALLY begging. I mean hey, at least Archie gets to chew Walda out with him knowing their plan and watch her fear him! It really isn't funny, it shows how the orb influences how he acts, and that is a burden us readers have to watch unfold.

Karl's Selfishness and how it leads to flee

The most interesting character is Karl, who is more selfish in his self-interest than arguably most characters in this book. He wants to conquer the land and have people kneel for him, yet despite how he acts, he isn't chosen by the orb. Probably because as much as Karl is dumb, I think he wouldn't trust this so easily. He also is just the worst person ever, he is selfish in his actions, what he thinks and... for his life. He spares Archie only for his own gain, that's right his selfless action becomes selfish because getting his name out there to scare the illagers matters more than a life. This doesn't come out the way he wants it to because they don't understand what he says. This is why he flees during the trailer, this out of fear but also selfishness. A hero would risk his/her life to save the world, and a village, yet he doesn't even do that in the first place! He just abandons it and no joke, basically never comes back. His confidence must have cracked.

The Orb and How it is defeated due to selfishness. - The Game

As explained, the Orb is broken into pieces due to its selfish nature. due to the end of the book, Archie goes onto this route because there was no going back. It was in the orbs interest to back Archie so far back that he feels like he could do nothing but go along. I think the orb is Selfish for using a vulnerable man who wanted to live as a vessel for what chaos it wanted. The Orb is selfish because it knows it will destroy relationships in the process. This character is the embodiment of how Power corrupts, and unfortunately allows Archie for some confidence building he needed...yet it was for hurt. It knows so much knowledge, you think it would spare Archie of having to do the work. Of course not! it doesn't have feelings, or emotions to its name. It is an artifact for god's sake, and it only WANTS to hurt. The book gives the characterization for the orb that was needed.

Then when it fails, it decides to push to the edge and becoming a monster, one that towers the heroes and shows what power it has over Archie. He had no consent to this, just the way he screams as he is pulled is such a risen red flag of how SELFISH the orb is to risk the life of its vessel. The orb was the monster the story needed...and that is what it got. Not Karl, not the illagers, not Salah and some of the villagers, not the undead, not the nameless one, not even Archie who was tricked. It was the orb of dominance, the truest and most selfish and monstrous character.

Conclusion

Woo we are done! expect for a basic TLDR for this entire post. All the characters in Minecraft dungeons have suffered due to some of the characters selfish nature. Those who suffered the most were the ones committing the selfish actions. Some characters even die or have something bad happen because of this. In my Opinion I think after the Village arc, all the selfish actions of Archie were due to himself and the orb as well. Admittingly with a lot of influence from the orb of dominance. And you know what? The game BARELY shows this narrative, no hints to this story and we are left to understand just little pieces of everything...which was the trailer. The game is about the sad outcome of when someone is made a vehicle for destruction. This game was never for the full story and that is sad. They could have made a more interesting game if they JUST gave the story a chance to thrive and show us these things. an Illager protag for the first half would have been SO interesting. Now it is a cash grab, with DLCs. It did what they wanted, and they mostly abandoned this game, only adding modes...and for what? It adds nothing to the beauty that this story is. It makes me despise the game and would prefer to keep this book which was the reason I stayed in the game. It would have been fun to have a game from Mojang that just isn't EMPTY. It is empty because the game was from a sandbox, and this doesn't to seem to be their field of expertise and it made the only interesting because of the small amount of story it has. Take it from, if you're planning to play the game and buy it, don't. Just grab the book and watch the Game on YouTube. Support Matt Forbecks book, and if you can't, that is fine, I might plan to go ahead and perhaps read this book and make a series out of it. Thank you for reading/listening to this whole pose.

If Leo, Don, and Mikey get angst. It's only fair we give so to Raph. Here's something that's been on my mind, when Leo starts to investigate their tragic backstory, it hits Raph the most since he was said to be the one who remembers the most. Maybe when he first hears Big Mama's voice, he doesn't understand why he's suddenly remembering those old memories. Anyway, just a thought.

Oh Raph definitely gets his share of angst for this. I mean, to start, while all his brothers are going through painful transformation processes, he's not really. Sure he gets a few headaches and his eyes are being a pain, but to him, that's nothing compared to the twins growing new limbs and Mikey growing eyes. The medical stuff is all Leo's domain and Raph feels like he himself is useless in this situation. He's supposed to protect his little siblings but he can't protect them from their own bodies.

and as for memories, that's definitely an angsty bit for him. He does remember the most, and i think you're right. That when they went to the hotel for the first time/met Big Mama, some old memories started to resurface (or at least the place/person gave him a sense of familiarity/safety he doesn't quite understand. Which is probably why he trusted her so readily.)

Then there's the point that, out of the four of them, he's the only one who remembers being mutated. Which is something he tends not to talk about b/c even after 13 years, it's still a pretty traumatic memory for him. His brothers probably don't even know he remembers that until they start questioning their mutation story and he reluctantly admits to remembering it .

This also adds some angsty context to Draxum's reveal in 'Evil league of mutants'. i mean, in episode he literally falls to his knees and stares at the ground for a while, not seeming to hear much past 'i used Lou Jitsu's dna to make you'.

I mean look at him! the other three are at least listening to Draxum's villain "i made you so join me!" speech (Kinda), Raph is very much not. so in this context, i think he'd realize what this meant. That he remembers being mutated b/c Draxum didn't mutate 4 turtles into humanoids, he mutated four children, (Lou Jitsu's children, who is also them) into turtles. (Can't tell i love changing the context on cannon events, now can you? lol. Give me an au that's main purpose is to make you rethink cannon and i will eat it up every damn time : ) )

All in all, every buddy gets their share of angsty bs, just different types. (but they also get fluff so it will even out lol)

Idk how to start these kinds of posts, so I'm going to start off with my thoughts about the situation, because I'm at my breaking point.

First off, I'd like to say how fucking pissed I am to see people harassing and sending death threats to others for liking a character from Outlast, where pretty much *everyone is fucking horrible.* I'm assuming the people who do so are not used to fandoms like Outlast, but oh my god it's gone way too far. Why harass someone for liking a fictional character?

On that note, I'd like to discuss Coyle a little bit, concerning the people who have admitted to liking him openly getting harassed. I like him. I have ever since the closed beta came out. Most of us are aware that he's a horrible person, but so many of you think that we like him because of the things he's done, when no, that's not the case. We don't like him because he was a Klan member, we don't like him because he is a domestic abuser. Most of us like him because he's an attractive character, and he has an interesting story. People might just like him because he's their type. it doesn't have to go any deeper than that. Can't we like horrible characters anymore without being harassed?

Also, a lot of these people who seem to think that we like him because of the things he's done, seem to think that because we like him, it means it *must* align with our morals, when no, that's not how that works. I'm not entirely sure if these people are that stupid, or they just refuse to use their brains. I have seen someone call people who like Coyle racist over little to no evidence, it's just because they think that he's a disgusting character, it must mean that anyone who likes him is the same way. That's just stupid. Plain stupid.

Now, my personal thoughts about Coyle because I've been keeping them all bottled up.

As someone who's liked him ever since the closed beta, I can tell you that I fell in love with him *before* his lore was released. At the time, all I knew was that he SA'd people and was sadistic. When his lore *did* finally came out, I legitimately felt heartbroken. So I can tell you with complete certainty, that most people who *do* like him, don't like him because of the terrible things he's done, it's because we were just attracted to his character. And also, I've seen some people say that we should just stop being connected/loving him because of his backstory. I can tell you right now, that that's not how it fucking works. You can't just cut yourself off from a character immediately, especially if you're extremely connected to the said character.

And to the people saying that we "romanticize", "sexualize", and "glorify" Coyle (I'm using Coyle as another example, because that's pretty much all I see mentioned when people complain, besides the few people who complain about Eddie simps/stans), we don't do that by simply ignoring what he's done. We do realize he's bad, and we don't need to hyperfocus on those specific traits of his backstory or character. We also aren't saying anything he has done or does is a good thing that should be followed, we are simply ignoring those parts because they aren't really plot-important, nor do they really need attention.

Now.... Considering that the people have been harassing (indirectly or directly I don't care) others have liked and posted characters such as Nurse Sally and Val, I don't think their opinions are the most valid. I might be wrong, please correct me if I am. People who have attachments to/are attracted to a horrible character aren't immediately horrible themselves. I can promise you, most people who like horrible, disgusting characters aren't like them at all.

Now about the Proshipper bs, I'm not going to talk about that, because I have little knowledge about it. About Dead Dove fics on the other hand, nobody is forcing you to read those fics. It's completely *your* fault for not reading the tags in advance, it's not the writers' or other consumers' fault. Dead Dove literally means that there are going to be dark subjects in the fanfic, don't complain once you read it and see dark subjects like the tag had told you beforehand.

Coyle himself, is a terrible, *terrible* man. But that doesn't mean we have to focus on him being horrible *all* the time. There are plenty of characters who are almost exactly the same, or are worse. You can't control or police who other people can love vs who they can't, especially not in the outlast fandom, where most of the characters are horrible in their own right. You may not be into certain characters, but that doesn't mean you can harass and send death threats to others who do.

T being lowkey/private is bs (I mean that politely lol). He’s forthright and very open at declaring his love for R. He was one step away from kissing R on the mouth on the red carpet. He knows how to play it when it comes to their attraction.

But Rs the one doing all the heavy lifting here! If she wants to talk about J, that’s fine but so should he. We’re approaching nun glued to a chastity belt territory here.

Doubt they talk tbh. She was surprised and overwhelmed by that VF tom podcast and declared love again. This time using the emphasis: really.

They can’t keep this flirtation going forever. Someone’s going to slip and give in to lust so it’s better they bite the bullet and define what they have now. Ignoring it and placing it under friend territory doesn’t work imo. Something explosive is going to happen down the line. We’re seeing signs of it now.

Their attraction was instantaneous. She definitely knows he liked the pics lol.

1. Slightly disagree - I do think he’s very private and prefers to stay offline. That’s real but yeah, he was openly flirty with R :)

1. What motivates you to write?

Motivation to write is mostly an intrinsic thing and comes and goes depending on what is going on in my life. It has become a bit more consistent since I started treatment for ADHD though. Getting comments on my work helps a tonne as well since I like to keep my readers relatively happy.

2. A line/short snippet of your writing that you are most proud/happy of. If not maybe share a line of someone else's work you love (just please credit them)

This one is tough because I have a lot of snippets I'm very proud of. Let's go with one from Striking the Anvil:

Morag nodded in satisfaction again and set about damping down the fire while Meredith gulped down her drink. By the time the fire was out, Meredith was already getting up to head back to bed. Morag hugged her daughter tightly,

“If ye need anything’ else, hen, just shout. I don’t mind getting up.” She said, ruffling Meredith’s hair.

I love the close relationship Meredith has with her mother, and I'm thoroughly enjoying getting to show it off. For a character that was originally created for a d&d campaign, Meredith's family are very wholesome and somehow lived through the whole campaign, beginning to end.

3. Which OC makes you smile every time you think/talk about them and what are they like?

The OC that makes me smile every time is definitely Meredith. As much as I love and cherish Selene for being my first roleplay character ever, I got to play Merri from level 1 all the way to level 14/15 before I had to retire her to the role of npc when I took over as GM of the Destiny's New Servants campaign. Since Merri is everything I still aspire to be as a person, it's hard not to smile when thinking and talking about her.

As for what Merri is like: she's a forthright, loyal and devout woman. She will be the friend who will stand by you no matter what's going on, but will also be the first to call anyone out on their bs when it's needed

4. What process of writing do you enjoy the most?

I enjoy visualising the various scenes or pieces of a thing I plan to write. Sharing my work is the bit I enjoy the most, though. Knowing that whatever I've written will, hopefully, make others feel the way I did while writing is a big dopamine hit.

5. What part of writing do you think you are the best at? (Yes stroke your own ego it's okay)

I think I'm pretty good at dialogue exchanges. I do need to work on the actions and tags in between the banter, but I do love having a spiel where it's just two or more people talking back and forth. I prefer to write more naturalistic dialogue and it's fun to read it back to myself.

6. What is something in the writeblr community is most enjoyable?

The most enjoyable aspect of the writeblr community is getting to know other writers and geeking out over all our OCs and the situations we get them into. I also enjoy the tag games because I get to see other peoples' thoughts and feelings about their work, worlds and characters, as well as their processes for writing.

7. A writing tool/device you use that helps you with writing? (It could be speech to text, a writing program etc)

I'll give shout out to text to speech programmes, because they do help sort out where I've gone wrong in the grammar department better than just reading through the document does.

8. A piece of worldbuilding that you like in your own story? (It could be the magic system, a particular place in the story, a law etc)

I like all the worldbuilding tidbits that crop up in the stuff I write, but my favourite, by far, is the concept of cridhe-dàime. It comes up fairly often as a phrase that Meredith uses with regard to Elowyn and is a word that describes a type of queer-platonic relationship in universe. I came up with it after realising that Merri and Elowyn had a much closer friendship than most other characters even during the campaign the two were a part of. After said campaign ended I wanted to keep that closeness between them, and so came up with a word to describe a platonic relationship that was nonetheless as important to Meredith as her marriage to Yoruk. I didn't find out about QPRs until much later.

9. What piece of advice would you say to encourage others to write if they are having a rough patch?

If you're having a rough patch, it's ok to walk away from a project that's frustrating you. You can always come back to it later with a fresh pair of eyes and/or ears. I would advise that, if you do this, that you read other things, write other projects or just keep up with some form of general creativity because getting back into the saddle will be much harder if you don't.

10. Tag some people whose works you love/have been your biggest supporters

My biggest supporter is @druidx, who is the creator of Elowyn and was my roleplay partner during the Destiny's New Servants campaign, which almost all my writing is currently based on. I love the comments you leave on my stuff, and I hope it still brings you joy to read about the characters' exploits despite how long it's been since we last played together.

I will also shout out @blind-the-winds for their encouragement about the Fangthane stuff. I'm glad you're enjoying all the dwarven worldbuilding I've had to do to explain the culture and politics of the setting and hope you're enjoying the Fangthane's Folly series (I will get back to that and A Circle None Can Break really soon, I promise).

☕️ forrr volo AND ants

VOLO!!!!!!! Massive Pokemon Legends Arceus spoilers ahead for this. First if all, pla is my favorite pokemkn game BY FAR. The story is interesting, it's sooo different than other pokemon games, and I definitely played it on launch. And Volo... oh I love him so much. He's this mysterious twink that goes Hisui with his togepi teaching you things bc he finds you, the player, SO INTERESTING. Basically the plot of pla is that you are from modern day pokemon land and the pokemon god sends you back in time to fix things. So Volo is a character who looks EXACTLY like Cynthia btw and he's interested in history and pokemon and he finds you so interesting bc you're from the fucking future!!! The thing is tho, when I played pla for the first time, I didn't think much about Volo. I thought he was cool. But when you get kicked out the Village for fucking up the sky and some other space time bs, Volo was there for you. That time you spend with Volo was truly the part where I fell in love with him. Volo was there for the player at their lowest point, and together they were able to figure out the space time bs and everything together. Happy ending, right? WRONG! After that, the post credit story starts. You team up with Volo again, collecting these plate things that correlate to pokemon types, and when you collect them all, VOLO is the bad guy! He hates you. He hates you so fucking much. He cannot stand you. Why does Arceus, Pokemon God, talk to you and not him. Volo worships Arceus, and he's unbelievably pissed that you have the blessing of Arceus. And the battle you have with him? The hardest fucking battle of my entire life. He essentially has Cynthia's team (she destroys me everytime I battle her and u overlevel to compensate) and he also has her team and it's. Sad. The entire game this man was your friend. He was there for you at your most loneliness time. Volo was there. And now, he essentially wants to kill you. And HE LOOKED HOT ASF WHILE DOING IT (minus the goofy ahh hair he got). And then it's revealed that he has GIRATINA? And he essentially has 8 POKEMON? A full pokemon team has 6 pokemon. I was STRUGGLING!!! That battle was so fucking hard but it was so fucking cool. I love it when fictional men want to kill me. I love Volo. The only thing that sucks and when you defeat him in this battle, you never see him again. I miss him to much. I always debate on replaying pla just to see him.

Ants. Ummm. They are an animal! Used to stomp on them when I was child 💔 but now I leave them alone ^_^ I like to give them food every once in a while. I think it's cool to see them carry it somewhere. Ants 🐜
