Don't get me wrong. I proudly consider myself an obnoxious film buff who would gladly sit down and watch a three hour Czechoslovakian film about the rise of the soviet union through the eyes of a pigeon. BUT, with that said, I really think we should consider bringing back the humble intermission.
#like girl I need to piss I need a glass of water pls#also in this day and age where we can pause a film any time we want it is nice to have that option#a place established in the narrative where you can pause without worrying about cutting something off#having a moment to get up from your seat in the theatre and stretch your legs#I am not saying this like 'oh no one has a good attention span anymore' (true but not the point here)#I think it would just be neat especially if you are asking me to watch a 3 hour movie okkkk#like I really don't care scorsese if you want me to watch a 3 hour movie I gladly will but could you maybe build in a break? all I request#squack

I didn't watch Hugo as a kid, and I specifically remember why. I remember seeing the trailer, seeing that the main boy looked to be sad a lot, with the bite of hope from a friend or something, and thinking "this movie looks sad. Something bad is gonna happen, and I don't want to watch that." Even though I also remember being incredibly drawn in by the trailers.
i meant to answer this this morning i’m sorry the sleepytired and the having to go to work got to me. anyway you should absolutely definitely revisit that movie because it really is lovely, especially when you’re like. old enough to appreciate it. i think a lot of things were lost on ten year old me but now i know who georges méliès is and i like movies. so it slayed. ur right tho he is very very sad for like the entire two hours. it’s very poor hugo nobody care him… but it ends happily so it’s okay <3 and martin scorsese directed it (another thing i did not appreciate at age ten. i think adults tried to explain it to me and i was like. ok? so some guy made this movie? why should i care?) so it’s obviously not bad and also it’s lovely to look at… however asa butterfield DOES have serial killer blue eyes and he looks at you like this 🔵🔵 so that could be a downside. but u should watch it <3
#it’s a movie about movies but more than that it’s a movie about the beauty in creation that comes from love <3#asks#anonymous
