Buffet
Leah Williamson
summary: Leah can't resist an all you can eat buffet, especially when your the main course.
warnings: smut, mdni, 18+
The big white block letters were already peeling over the black fabric and you'd only put them on a few minutes ago. They were uncomfortable, and not nearly half as nice as other pairs you owned, but the message made it all worth it: 'ALL YOU CAN EAT BUFFET'.
The ad for the thong had popped up when you were scrolling on instagram and it had been too good to resist. You'd ordered it immediately knowing that Leah always liked a good joke, but also liked a good meal.
You wear them beneath the little pajama shorts that drive Leah crazy, the ones that are loose enough so that she can always catch a glimpse of your underwear beneath them.
You're laying in bed, scrolling on your phone, as you waited for your girlfriend to come home. She'd messaged you a while ago, saying that the media team had kept her back and she'd be home later than planned.
It's only as the clock ticks to 9:30 that you finally hear your apartment door open and Leah's mumbles as she chucks her bags on the ground and pours herself a glass of water.
You put your phone down on the bedside table and tuck yourself beneath the covers, keeping your thighs purposefully visible. A small smirk falls on your face when your girlfriend walks through the door, running her hands through her hair and trying to muffle a yawn.
You're slightly taken aback when she refrains from making a comment about your choice of clothes. Usually she'd be all over you, and you have no doubt that she'll be nearly on top of you when you're both beneath the covers, but you can't believe that she manages to keep her mouth shut.
'Jonas wants me to go into the club earlier tomorrow to do a press conference for the Chelsea game,' she mumbles, clearly tired and slightly pissed off at her manager who you'd heard many rants about. 'Says I've got to be there an hour early, 7 I think? Which means I gotta haul my ass up before then.'
'Oh,' you sigh, trying to hide the disappointment in your voice, 'Sorry Le, we can sleep early tonight.'
She hums in agreement, getting changed before joining you underneath the covers, immediately reaching for you just as she does every single night. Her hands gravitate towards your waist, and even if she's too tired and committed to her job to think about sex tonight, her hands still snake into the waistband of your shorts just for safekeeping.
As soon as he feels the stiff, blocky, cool of the lettering on the front of your thong, you feel her brows furrow where her head is pressed into your shoulder. She lifts her head up and moves the blankets away from your body and pulls the waistband of your shorts down so she can see what your wearing in the dim lights neither of you made the effort to turn off.
'What-' she squints, trying to read upside-down without proper lighting, but it's a hopeless cause. Your dying from laughter and you shimmy out of your shorts so your sitting on your knees, close enough for her to see.
'All you can eat buffet,' she reads, murmuring the words while her face lights up and a hearty laugh escapes her throat, 'You naughty little girl, where did you get that?'
'I have my secrets,' You tease, and she braces a hand on your thigh to admire it. She studies you for a moment, still chuckling, and then she moves up, staring at you expectantly.
'Well lay down, baby.' She invites you, 'Let's see this buffet.'
'No, Leah, it's alright!' You insist, 'You have to be up early for the conference, it can wait, I'll wear them a time when your less busy.'
'No,' she whines, pulling at the waistband of the thong. 'Your terrible jokes and impulsive financial habits have turned me on. Plus, I didn't have dinner tonight and I don't see the point in wasting a perfectly good meal. On your back baby.'
'Leah, you don't-' You shake your head, knowing how important football, especially Arsenal, is to her. But she takes your face in her hands, pushing you down so your laying on your back, 'we don't have to do this, we can-'
'God, you make pussy eating sound like a chore.' She mumbles between kisses, her lips trailing down to your collar bone. 'Relax baby, All you can eats are my favourite, and I've just realised how hungry I am.'
You moan as Leah's hands reach under your shirt to play with your breasts. It's only been a matter of seconds and you've already turned to putty at her touch.
Her hands trail down your body, down to in between your thighs, her lips following as she kisses just above your waistband.
She rips the thong off chucking it behind her and her tongue slips into you, running a line along your slit. The sudden contact causing you to moan.
'Fuck Leah.' You cry out and trap her head with your legs, reaching down to pull on her hair which had fallen loose. She moans into your pussy from the feeling.
All you can hear is the sound of her tongue licking and sucking, and it's so fucking hot. Leah was way too good at this.
She adds a finger into you and flicks her tongue against your clit. She swirls her tongue around in circles, pumping her finger in and out of you as she does.
'Leah!' you yell out from the feeling, leaning up onto your elbows. You wanted to watch her eat you out, it's still dark but you can make out her blonde hair between your legs. That's all you need.
She continues to eat you out, and you grind on her face to feel her tongue deeper into you until you don't think you can take it anymore.
She moans loudly into your pussy, sensing that you were close by the way you clenched your thighs around her even tighter than before. You're so fucking close.
Your eyes roll into the back of your head, body going rigid as you came onto her tongue. She keeps sucking making sure to get every last drop.
'Best dinner ever,' she breathes, a satisfied smile spreading across her face, prompting a laugh from you. 'But I think I’ve still got room for dessert.'

today in old books
It's not like no one has any emotions. The naughty girl has a complex relationship with her father. The beautiful-but-haughty girl flip-flops between wanting to be liked and being above everyone. Crushes are everywhere.
“I hope it will be Harding’s and Monroe’s last fight,” Doris said with sudden energy. “I know now that a certain other person was to blame for most of it. I know that you were not trying to be kind to me or belittle me. I’m not so sure about Miss Dean.” “She loves you, Doris Monroe.” Muriel sprang into affectionate defense of Marjorie. “You never had a more faithful crush. She is the one who started the name of the fairy-tale princess for you. She has adored your beauty and wanted you to be in theatricals so that you could be seen and admired. She was the judge who delivered the adjuration to Beauty at the beauty contest. She is the best friend you have on the—”
More drama among the girls, more sighing remiscences of the Hamilton love story, yet another theatrical production...
The play netted the dormitory fund over a thousand dollars. Augusta and Doris stepped into the spot light of campus admiration and were fêted by their friends for upwards of a week afterward. Marjorie attended the presentation of the drama with her mother, Jerry, Miss Susanna and Jonas. It was her mother’s last evening at the Arms and this sad knowledge put her in a rather forlorn mood. Then, too, she could not help thinking of Hal. She had suggested the title of the play as a result of seeing the costume of polar knight Hal Macy had worn at the merry-making in Sanford on Christmas Eve. Now she saw Hal as the knight, rather than Gussie. She wondered vexedly why she always thought of Hal in connection with the sentimental. It was because he had told her he loved her, she supposed.
(The actual romance on stage is being played out by two women, of course. But this the first even slightly romantic thought she seems to have ever had for Hal, and it's still not terribly personal.)
Ah, now someone else plots to bring Hal secretly to campus:
Leila’s plan to bring Hal from Sanford to sing behind the scenes for her on the night of her play was not entirely one of self-interest. She had often thought Marjorie was nothing less than a sleeping beauty slated to awaken suddenly from a dream of life to reality and a lover’s kiss. She had long guessed for herself that Hal loved Marjorie. She had also been the only one besides Marjorie who had seen Hal’s heart-broken expression as he had stood before Marjorie’s portrait.
Literally everyone knows Marjorie's romantic destiny. Not that she secretly loves him, but that she'll just one day suddenly change her mind and get married.
Anyway, Leila brings Hal to campus and makes him a part of her next performance, off-stage so that Marjorie will only hear a voice singing love songs and be moved, and then surprised to find out the truth.
Marjorie looked blank. She had never before thought of Leila Harper in conjunction with Hal. How had Hal happened to know the words to the old Irish song? Leila must have sent them to him by letter. No, she must have sent the music for the minuet. She thought that he had not been in Hamilton more than a few hours. Still he might have been on the campus all day and she had never— There she stopped. Leila was her most devoted friend. She was glad that Hal had at last shown a preference for some one beside herself. Marjorie stopped the thought process again. She found she did not wish to think about Hal and Leila as being interested in each other. She wondered next if they had been corresponding long. Leila had never mentioned in her presence that she had received a letter from Hal. Leila had—
Slightly confused minor jealousy. Clearly a passionate love.
“Aren’t you just a little bit glad to see me for myself, Marjorie?” Hal could not resist putting this one question. “You know I am.” Marjorie attempted to look into his face with her old-time frank smile. She smiled, but the smile was one of shyness. Her brown eyes rested on Hal only an instant. The rose deepened in her cheeks. Hal looked at her, and wondered.
Literally within minutes she then agrees to marry him, because she now understands what love is.
“Hal, I always mean to be kind to you.” Marjorie did better this time. “I wish you wouldn’t feel that you have troubled me. I have read Brooke Hamilton’s love story. I understand more of love than I used. I know that true love is—it is—” “What do you know of love?” Hal’s hands suddenly dropped lightly upon her shoulders. The two had stopped before the great pink bush, facing each other, their young features set with the terrific earnestness of youth. “Have you grown up? Do you love me?” “I—have grown up this much—I—understand the worth of true love, Hal. That is—” “Not loving me yet, but very near it,” came the tender interruption. Hal’s hands slipped from Marjorie’s shoulders. “I love you,” he said. “I love you.” Marjorie regarded him silently. She knew that Hal was fighting against loving her. That in a moment of emotion he had spoken again the words he had tried to forget. He would instantly go back to his role of devoted friend. She did not wish him to go back. She loved him. How greatly she loved him she could not then guess. She knew only that she loved him. “What is it, Marjorie?” Hal reached for her hands, caught them, held them unresisting in his own. Came a silence. A faint vagrant night breeze stirred the trees, touched the faces of the two besides the almond bush. Very gently Hal drew his Violet Girl into his arms. “It must be a whole year from now, Hal,” Marjorie said later with charming practicality.
(I guess we're meant to interpret that some kissing happened there, but that we can't describe it because it's too scandalous? Anyway, that 'year from now' comment is about the wedding. Because she has work to do first!)

Spider-Man Read-Through 064 Wig Snatched (SSM 53-58, SSM Ann 3) P2
MASTERPOST
In this post...
Two bitchslaps!
We're reading Spectacular Spider-Man 58, then Annual 3 in this post!
John Byrne... Are you trying to make Slim!Peter happen? In which case, congrats, your version has become the most common and I hate you.
Anyway, it's a new semester!
What in the Steve Ditko is this Peter face?
Anyway... Ah yes, Greg Salinger... Or, as I shall call him, Flash Light. We've got 2 Gwens, 1 Flash... What a great cast.
Anyway, in the Tinkerer's old lair...
Alright, sure. The Ringer quickly gets beaten up by another bad guy...
Meanwhile, at ESU, Peter's about to get into another unethical relationship with a student...
"Intense", he says while barely able to stand on his feet.
The trial of Steve Hopkins v. ESU hath begun...
The verdict? Guilty.
The punishment?
Good for her! She slays, I have to say.
Peter asks Debra to join him that night at Benihana (which I know from One Day At a Time). He says there was a terrible misunderstanding and he's "hate for it to interfere with [their] friendship". Their "friendship"?????? What kind of mixed signals are you giving, Peter?
And she accepts.
WHERE ARE YOUR THIGHS, PETER?!
On his way to Benihana, Spidey has a quick encounter with a reluctant Ringer (who's actually being manipulated by the other villain).
At the restaurant, Peter and Debra finally resolve their misunderstandings. Debra says she'd like to continue their conversation, and Peter tells her to find him at his apartment half an hour later. I thought for a moment he would miss the obvious implication that she wanted to peg him, but thankfully, he didn't.
Uh-oh. Something tells me Peter's not gonna be in the mood to get pegged anymore.
Except only the belt itself explodes. Our Ringer is fine, and quickly delivered to the police.
I'm not sure they'll talk much.
The secret villain was... the Beetle! And the belt actually gave him informations to beat Spidey. Hm, sure.
Anyway, onto Annual 3!
Man-Wolf's being a bit chaotic in town.
I'm glad we finally keep going with this plot thread.
The two characters fight for a bit, then Man-Wolf flees and returns to Kritine, his girlfriend, who faints when she discovers he wasn't dead.
Peter being kind of bitchy at the Bugle (good for him).
Jameson's understandably shocked that his son might be alive.
Spidey crashes into Kristine's window.
I'm NOT going to read that. But wasn't he an illusion anyway?
Anyway, Jameson gets there too, and they all go together to see Curt Connors. Things don't work out so well.
That middle drawing... is... a thing.
After bitchslapping his father twice, John finally gets rid of the Moonstone. Yay!
After the story, we see May's photo album. That's cuuute.
Yeah I'm sure he was just... fiddling with the device.
Red shirt!!!!!!!!!
Lovely callbacks <3
We also see plans of Peter's office, which is neat, and a quick introduction of who's whom!
They're finally starting to feel realized! Phil doesn't look very Asian here though...
This is cute! And yeah, I finally "get" these characters. That's nice! We met them around ASM 196, but I feel like it's been much longer. SSM doesn't help.
Next, we get "Spider-Man's Most Famous Foes", as in... Morbius (alright), the Gibbon (what?!), Jonas Harrow (this really is another era...) and Hammerhead (OK). What a peculiar gallery.
At least I know I'm not alone.

This is completely self-indulgent, I’m sorry. I just really needed this.
Bakugou does not want to be here, trying to remind himself of the pretty face you gave him when he first presented the tickets for the Jonas Brothers to you. The look of pure elation on your face when he’d told you that you were seeing your favourite band. He can think of at least a hundred other things he’d rather be doing than this right now. But at least he has your warm hand encased in his large palm as you stand in line at the merch table, rambling on about which shirt you want. It doesn’t even matter to him anyway, he’d buy you the entire table if you asked him for it. Reaching into his pocket for his wallet and tapping his card against the reader like it was nothing.
Bakugou’s vermilion eyes widen in a mixture of surprise and lust as you drag him to the side of the room to change into it. Expecting you to pull it over the shirt you’re already wearing but he groans when you tug the flimsy fabric up and over your head. Showing him the delicate bra you’d decided to wear beneath. The lace framing your round mounds, barely a handful for his large palms but just enough. His mind flashing to exactly how cute you look beneath him when he teases your pretty tits, his calloused pads pinching at your nipples as they harden beneath his touch. Every single part of you was perfect to him, you were perfect. Moving his body to tower over you as he blocked your exposed skin from the prying eyes of anyone that might look your way. “What do you think, daddy?” You smile up at him with those pretty round eyes of yours as you worry your lower lip between your teeth, eager for his praise. You’d look perfect in anything, though. You are perfect.
Bakugou was definitely one of the oldest here, the only other men similar in age were fathers bringing their young daughters to the show. Why couldn’t you be into another band, he’d take you anywhere, he’d do literally anything for you.
Bringing his bottle of beer to his lips as you stand in front of him, looking towards the stage as the lights go down, strobes flickering as you cheer for the band. Shaking your hips when the beat starts to their opening song, god you were perfect. His cock stirring in his pants when you raised your hands up to the air, throwing your head back as you sung along terribly. Your shirt tightening rising up from the movement as he leaned forward to get a peek at your cute little tits.
He reaches a muscular arm around you, handing you his beer bottle as he moves his grip to your waist, his fingertips pressing against your soft skin as he held you tight. Hoisting you up over his shoulders as though you weigh nothing, ignoring the way you cry out that “‘m too heavy daddy, I’ll fall.”
He’d never let you fall.
Your clothed cunt pressed perfectly against the back of his neck as your thighs rest on each shoulder, his large palms wrapped around your ankles to make sure you don’t move too much. Giving you the most perfect view of the stage as you towered over the crowd, his stature meaning you were a great distance from the floor. He could practically feel the heat radiating from between your thighs, a tiny pair of shorts and your panties, if you were even wearing any, the only barrier between him and your sweet little pussy. He could practically smell your arousal, captivating his senses as your hands stroked through the buzzed hair of his undercut at the back of his head.
Bakugou reaches his hand up to grab his beer bottle back, eyes shifted to the side as he watches you take a swig of the cool liquid, his eyes drifting to your jawline as you neck it back before passing it back down to him.
Every little thing you did had him craving you.
You knew exactly what you were doing when you shifted your weight on his shoulders, you little minx. Grinding yourself against the back of his neck as your nails scraped against his scalp. The sensation sending a surge of blood straight to his thick cock, you were insatiable. Your innocent voice belting out the words to the song playing over the speakers while you pressed your heat against him, creating a gentle friction as he heard the breathless moans that left your lips between verses.
Groaning when you tightened your thick thighs around his neck, squeezing his jaw as he imagined his face buried between your legs feasting on your perfect cunt. His tongue lashing at your puffy clit as you cry out for him, your back arching off the bed as he slips a solo finger inside your tight heat, feeling the way your walls clench around him as you try to suck him in. You’re always so responsive for him, so needy. Breathless warbles leaving your lips as you beg him for more, that you’re a good girl and you can take it.
You’re his good girl.
There was no way he’d be able to last the whole concert, not with you moving against him like that. His cock tenting the rough fabric of his jeans as it begged to be freed. His thoughts immediately drifting to pulling you back down off his shoulders and sheathing himself inside your silky walls. Watching as you struggle to keep quiet in a crowd full of people while he splits you apart on his cock. You were such a fucking tease.
Lifting his large palm up to wrap around your wrist as he tugged your body towards him, hearing the surprised gasp that left your pouty lips even over the loud bass of the music as you curved your upper body to bring your head towards his. Bakugou’s eyes pooling with lust as he turned his head up to face you, baring his teeth.
“You’re looking to get fucked aren’tcha, pretty girl?”

Mia, episode ten
1. I like this little pile of girls she has going on here (and I love that it was recreated in s4). I really do enjoy this group together and it’s nice when we get to see them all in one group like this. ‘If he found out through someone else, that’d be worse’ - yeah it would, and I’m glad someone is finally working out that talking to each other is the best way to deal with things. The most frustrating thing about this season so far (apart from the Noora bits) is how so much could have been avoided if people just actually spoke to each other rather than making assumptions. I don’t feel like this was as big a problem in the other seasons. Hanna was built around how unhealthy this behaviour is and Matteo was actually relatively good at communication, at least in ways that didn’t end up with this sort of issue.
2. Druck: here are some shots of this school. Me: 💜💜 - every damn time. I really really love this school and its environs. It’s such a great place to create interesting shots and scenes in!
3. Okay, this bit seems better than the og. I absolutely loathed that William refused to listen to Noora at all and chose instead to believe someone who is absolutely 100% proven by him to be an asshole and manipulative. Here at least a) Mia genuinely did go and do something with Bjorn kind of on purpose and b) Alex is at least willing to talk; he hasn’t entirely shut her down. Alex has far more genuine reason to be upset in this case (she chose to hang out with Bjorn rather than go see Alex after all unlike Noora who was at William’s house and sort of pressured into doing stuff against her will while she waited for him). So the fact that Alex, while clearly hurt, is still willing to listen is a good change.
4. Hmm, this is a very interesting shot of Mia. Her costume is so dark and the background is so dark that her face stands out so starkly against it. It’s another sort of black and white thing, except that where Mia and Amira were both black and white (signaling that both had aspects of each), here Alex is white and Mia is black (meaning they’re framing him as ‘right’ here). I don’t necessarily love the way this season (and the og) tried to frame the William character as a misunderstood lovely guy when they both acted like absolute dicks. But I do like the way Druck uses costuming and cinematography.
5. I don’t think any of this backstory really absolves Alex of any of what he did or how he’s acted. But I will say, the acting is very nice and the things he’s talking about are quite poignant. Clearly, Bjorn shows all the signs of a classic abuser and this must have been a hard thing for a young guy to watch. But I guess the issue is that in order to stick to the og, Alex had to act like a similar sort of guy. Which doesn’t make sense. If he was as badly affected by all of this stuff as it seems he was, why start acting like the same sort of guy as the one who did this?
6. Interesting that by the end of the clip we’re back to a share of the black and white. Mia is absolutely in the right here, so this ‘nuance’ bothers me (there really is no reason for Alex to beat up Bjorn, and Mia’s right - she should be the one to deal with this in this instance). But I do like that again, Druck is using colours and light (there’s a lot more light on Mia and a lot more dark around Alex by the end of the clip) to make their point. It’s not absolutely one I agree with but I appreciate what they do with this stuff. It was great in Hanna’s season and it’s great again here. ‘Honestly Mia, this thing hasn’t worked between us from the start’ - hmmm, for once I agree with you, Alex. This is/was a high school romance that lasted for a couple of weeks. They’ll both get over it and move on, particularly if they’re going to be in different places. One thing I do like about the s4 stuff is that the show does acknowledge that and allows them to split up. That’s just life. That doesn’t mean they weren’t important for each other, but just that it was something that was with them for a short time, and it doesn’t have to be more than that. I know that isn’t how this season ends, but overall I like where it goes.
7. Oh, the often-talked-about ‘beanie boy’ scene. Sad that I have never seen this episode and yet I recognized it from what Jonas is wearing. Yes, I’ll admit it: I am a David fanatic and I’m so glad he had this little moment in this season. Also, Hanna my dearest love looks so lovely here. I’m not surprised Jonas hasn’t got himself over her yet. I mean, look at her!!! I do like how awkward this is. Hanna did the moving on, she grew up and made a decision and it’s great that it worked for her, but I have been in the place where the other person wants to be friends but it hurts too much so I get Jonas as well. This is a hard situation and I have to heap praise on the acting once again. They’re both doing such a a great job here of selling just how tough this is.
8. I have very few thoughts about the whole ‘sitting around smoking’ thing except that those glasses really suit Abdi! But big sigh... here we go having Amira being the ‘reasonable’ one and telling us what to think about Alex. Like Sana. she’s supposed to be the moral centre of the group and so we’re supposed to listen to her, and she’s telling us that we should understand him because of what he went through. But there’s no nuance here again - yes, he went through something really awful and yes he has some qualities that aren’t entirely awful. But he still did some manipulative and often plain horrible things and he shouldn’t get a pass for those just because he has a sad backstory. If he actually did something to make up for what he did, if he acted like he was sorry rather than ‘right’ (again, a hangup from the og so I get it, but I still don’t like it), then I might have some sympathy for this line of reasoning but as it is ‘he has a sad backstory’ isn’t the ‘gotcha’ these shows think it is. And ‘Jonas is actually worse than Alex’ is SUCH a terrible take. Is Jonas perfect? No of course not, but at least he didn’t deliberately do a lot of the awful things to girls that Alex did. He at least genuinely liked both Leonie and Hanna when he was with them, and didn’t string them along for cheap sex. Why do they always use the Sana character in this way? Kiki of all people has the right take here. It’s not up to outsiders whether they should or shouldn’t be together, but rather the two of them. All we can do in the end is support our friends.
9. Interesting placement with the message now being ‘follow your heart’ - again, I personally don’t think we should be making such a big romantic deal of this whole thing but if we listen to Kiki (rather than Amira’s ‘all men are assholes’ thing) then I guess we should applaud her. This whole thing has clearly been difficult for Mia and it’s good that she wants to fight for what she wants. Again I’ll slip in some praise for the acting - Druck (as with the og of course) really did seem to find some talented performers and then coaxed some lovely performances out of them.
10. Wow, Matteo even looks thoroughly uninterested in Sara even at this point. How did she not pick up on it? I do feel for Sam, though. She wants a boyfriend and what she gets is an Abdi which was just a hook up thing really. I wish we’d got to see her find someone good for her in all ways (and I’ll also never be over that we never did get resolution on some of Matteo’s and Amira’s stuff either... oh for even a short one-off like the abiball where we got some sort of closure).
11. In really shallow news, I love this place where Mia ia talking to Alex - it’s really cool and with the lighting and graffiti it looks really interesting. However, I know I talk a lot about pacing, but her again is an example of the issues I have with it. I know they had to condense 11 episodes from the og (some veeeeeery long) into 10 more evenly sized ones. But, this reunion in the last few minutes of the episode seems really rushed (though I am grateful that it’s not like the overly dramatic car reversing after William was yet again an asshole to Noora that we got in the og). Alex is still talking about how Mia doesn’t trust him, how much they fight etc etc and Mia is calling him out for all the awful things he di at the start (which he continues to deny!!!!!!). And it’s all true, and they don’t have time to actually talk about it before we get whatever fairytale they’re going for here. It’s too short. They could or should have rearranged a few clips (particularly earlier in the season) so we could get a better and stronger resolution of the problems they’re raising here. ‘Yeah we’ll still do and be all those things’ isn’t the romantic ideal they’re suggesting. They still don’t communicate properly, which I personally would have liked to see before this big reunion.
However, overall I much preferred this ending to the one in the og. William was a much worse character in the last episode than Alex is here. I don’t like him, I don’t think he’s a good match for Mia but I do appreciate that he didn’t do what William did in the final episode. And Mia was more at fault than Noora was and so there’s more balance between them. I’ll never like this type of relationship, and I’ll certainly never like the Alex type of guy, but at least there was some acknowledgement of the issues and some suggestion that they can work on them together.

Don’t Look (Okay Maybe Just a Little Peek) - Part 3
A/N: So this is based off a prompt I received in my inbox, “dance with me” for Nessian. I decided to write it for day 1 of NaNoWriMo, so I haven’t really proof read this super well.
Read on ao3
Read on tumblr, part 1, part 2
Word count: 1960
Nesta was in a good mood. She had the day off work, and she was home alone. She had just finished reading a book which had a really cute ending, and it had left her feeling happy and light. She also supposed that Cassian also had something to do with her good mood, as much as she was loathed to admit it to anyone, especially Cassian.
Things had changed between Cassian and Nesta. It had been just over a week since that disastrous day he had walked in on her in the shower, but somehow miraculously, things had taken a turn for the better. Nesta still couldn't quite believe that Cassian was interested in her, that he had asked her on a date, but then she would catch the way he looked at her from the corner of her eye and realise that no, it was true. She still couldn't quite believe that he was looking like that. It seemed so out of the blue, except, he did flirt with her a lot. She had assumed he was joking but he had just been too scared to ask her on a date. He had said he used to practice in the mirror!
She didn't want to admit it, but the thought of Cassian practising how to ask her on a date like some sort of love-struck teenager made her laugh. It also made her feel warm and fuzzy, something that Nesta Archeron was not well known for. It was really sweet and cute, which was not a way that she thought she would ever end up describing Cassian. But the more she got to know Cassian, she realised that she didn't really know him at all until she started living with him. She had known Cassian before, obviously, otherwise, she wouldn't have agreed to live with him. But before living with him she had never seen the way he was a morning person, and how he loved to cook, and how he likes soft things so his flat is full of fluffy blankets and soft pillows.
Thinking about Cassian did give her a warm fuzzy feeling, and she wasn't quite sure what to do about it. It was strange. She had never felt anything like this, certainly not as strong as this. She had never thought she would feel this way, especially after Tomas. She had known, somewhere in the back of her mind that she had some sort of feelings for Cassian, but she had ignored them. Dealing with something like that is too dangerous after Tomas.
Cassian always seemed to force her out of her comfort zone, and this was no different. She now couldn't ignore her feelings, which was something she was comfortable doing. However, despite the uncomfortable feeling, and the slight anxiety, seeing Cassian so happy about agreeing to go on a date with him seemed to calm the anxiety. The goofy smile on his face was all she needed to think of to calm herself when thinking about her possible feelings towards him.
But right now, she was thinking about the goofy look on Cassian's dumb face, while listening to the High School Musical 2 soundtrack and cleaning the kitchen. She had a red velvet cake in the oven because after she had finished reading she felt like baking. She was in her pyjamas still, with no bra on because why would she put her boobs in their jail on her day off?
Nesta couldn't quite help herself as she started singing along with Bet On It, which always pumped her up. Plus, the High School Musical 2 soundtrack was brilliant, and she very rarely got to enjoy it blasting from the speakers because she was always too worried that Cassian would find out and laugh at her. But right now, even the idea of Cassian laughing at her couldn't bring her down.
She finished filling the dishwasher up as What Time Is It? Came on shuffle, and Nesta couldn't even stop herself from dancing along to it as she cleaned the surfaces. She eventually just gave up even pretending that she was going to carry on cleaning, and dropped the spray and cloth, allowing herself to dance properly.
She was having so much fun dancing, that she didn't hear the front door open, and she didn't notice Cassian leaning in the doorway of the kitchen, just watching Nesta with a look of awe on his face. Nesta turned around, and let out a little scream, not expecting Cassian to be stood there. She clutched her chest as she tried to calm down her heart rate, and turned the music down.
"I wasn't expecting you to be home at," she glanced at her phone to check the time, "3 pm. How long have you been stood there?" She asked, almost hesitantly, bracing herself for the rude comments about how she's a child or laughing at her, or the number of other ways Tomas might have reacted. She could feel herself tensing up, as though she was about to receive a blow. With Tomas, she probably would've received a blow. She knew, somewhere in the back of her mind, that Cassian would never do that, but her instincts sometimes took over her body before her mind could talk her out of it.
Cassian looked at her in that way of his, where she knew he was assessing the situation, what she was doing and how she was acting. She had always hated it, but before, it had made her angry, today, the anger made way for a new feeling. Today, she felt seen, like he could tell what was going on in her brain. It was unnerving, and she felt naked. She hated the way Cassian could just look at her and read her emotions when she tried so hard to keep those walls up.
"I've not been home that long, don't worry." Cassian paused for a second, and then gave her a soft smile, that Nesta hated because it made her feel all weird and fluttery in her stomach. "I'm glad you've been having fun today. You deserve it."
Nesta felt her cheeks heat at that. Somehow, his sincere and heartfelt comments always made her blush much easier than his dirty ones did. Maybe it was because he always made the dirty comments and jokes and she had gotten used to it, or maybe it was because she wasn't used to Cassian being so honest with his feelings for her, but she could feel her face heating.
"Thanks, I've just had a nice day I guess," Nesta said with a shrug, trying to regain her calm and collected demeanour, but she knew she was failing. Thankfully, Cassian didn't comment on it and just smiled at her.
"What have you been baking?" Cassian asked, his eyes lighting up as he noticed the cake in the oven. He raised his nose into the air, sniffing like a dog trying to figure out what she had put in the oven.
Nesta raised her eyebrows, trying to look unimpressed. "It's a red velvet cake because I was craving one."
Cassian's eyes went wide with excitement, as he rubbed his stomach. "Gods, I love red velvet cake," he said, closing his eyes and licking his lips thinking about the cake.
Nesta couldn't help but track the movement of his tongue on his luscious looking lips. Suddenly she couldn't think properly, she couldn't think of anything but Cassian's lips. Cassian, noticing the silence, opened his eyes, and grinned when he realised where Nesta's gaze had been fixed.
Before Cassian could open his mouth to say anything stupid that would annoy or embarrass Nesta, she put her music back up. Her Spotify had now started playing You Are The Music In Me. Nesta decided to throw all caution to the wind, and ask, "Dance with me?"
She looked up at Cassian, trying not to let it show on her face how nervous she now was. Cassian's face went slack, almost exactly like it had when he had seen her in the shower. Nesta started pulling her hand away, but Cassian grabbed onto it and used it to pull her closer. Another soft smile covered his face as he looked down at her as they started swaying.
"I didn't know you were a High School Musical fan."
"It's the greatest film of our generation. Also, which kid didn't have a crush on Zac Efron?"
Cassian let out a booming laugh. "That's valid I suppose, although I was more of a Camp Rock fan myself. I mean, have you seen those Jonas brothers?"
Nesta froze in his arms, glaring up at him. "Camp rock was good, but I can't believe you're saying it's better than High School Musical. I'm not sure I can go on a date with someone who thinks like that. Or even live with them. I might have to move out."
Nesta couldn't help but let out a small laugh as she felt Cassian's grip tighten as she tried to move away. She looked up at his dumb face to see that he was pouting.
"I'm sorry I have terrible taste in terrible films, please don't leave me for it."
Nesta was quiet, staring, at his lips again, so big and pouty. Cassian realised once again what her eyes were focused on, and went quiet, his eyes dilating as he took in Nesta, and how close she was to him. Cassian's chest was definitely moving faster than it usually was, and Nesta could tell it wasn't from their terrible attempt at dancing to High School Musical. It sent a thrill down Nesta's spine, the fact that she had this kind of effect on Cassian. She pressed her body against his, still swaying to the music, although Cassian seemed to be just following her lead. She wasn't entirely sure he even knew what he was doing, he seemed too lost looking at Nesta.
Cassian's breath hitched as Nesta pressed herself against him. He broke his gaze from her lips to look down at their connected bodies, noticing the way her boobs pressed against his chest, her hips pressing dangerously close to his. She knew if she shifted a little, she might even feel the hard outline of his dick, pressing against his trousers, but didn't dare push things that far.
She tilted her head up, not sure if she wanted to kiss him, but knew she wanted her face closer to him. Cassian was frozen now, his chest wasn't moving at all. She wasn't entirely sure if he was even breathing.
Perhaps it was a good thing, but she couldn't help but curse internally as the timer went off to let her know the cake needed to come out of the oven. It startled her enough that she quickly pulled back from Cassian, flushing as she did. She tried to distract herself with the cake, but she could feel Cassian's eyes on her.
"I'll leave you to it," Cassian rasped out. Nesta couldn't help but feel a little proud, knowing that was because of her.
She turned around and smiled, trying to will the blush on her cheeks to calm down. "Do you want me to call you when the cake is done?"
"Nah it's fine, I'll have my slice after dinner. I'll cook since you made dessert." He winked, and then quickly scuttled off to his room.
Nesta bit the inside of her cheek, trying not to smile too much when she noticed the strange way that Cassian walked, and realised that perhaps she had a bigger effect on Cassian than she had ever realised. She decided that she quite enjoyed having that kind of an effect on Cassian.

Okok awesome! 🖤🖤 I do have a wide variety in my music taste but artists most in my rotation are definitely Tyler the creator, Doja cat (streets?? Pls on rpt 🤤) and Arctic Monkeys, (pls don’t feel restrained by these artists tho !) very much chill vibes and driving late at night if that makes sense asjfkdkka. Personality wise I’m pretty awkward and fairly antisocial, very much ->🧍🏻♀️🧍🏻♀️😨 but once you get to know me I’m pretty loud and a little much tbh 🤭 like my laugh is genuinely TOO loud lmaooo, and I would very much appreciate it with Kageyama if that’s not too much to ask 😳👉🏼👈🏼 thank you again 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
hello my love. if i hadn’t known you, i wouldn’t have done this any kind of justice. BUT STRAP YOUR ASS IN WIFEY YOU KNOW WHAT IT BE. @chubbybunny111
you and kageyama.
oh god you and kageyama would scare the fuck out of me as a couple. have you seen those memes like boy who doesn’t talk all too much 💖 girl who loud asf? you two. LMAOOO.
definitely you two make fun of each other. on the daily. but, he also grumbles little compliments to u all nervous like. i feel like he would very much like your hair?? like,, it’s so curly,, it’s so pretty,,,, do a fella a favor and let him play with it, yeah?
i’m just imaging you in your straight clothes from high school and him in a disgusting unwashed sweaty ass volleyball uniform😻😻 IM SORRY OK ANYWAY
you two share earbuds all the time. just sittin next to each other in moderate silence with tunes playing.
he is so bad at texting LMAOOO. you’d send an ironic emoji and he’s done for? he just stares at it. blankly. void of any emotion other than confusion.
“i’m sorry did you just send ‘🤕’ after telling me you love me?”
“hey, you’re crying. why are you using 😋 right now?”
i’m sorry for making fun of him but also i’m NOT THATS SO FUNNY.
now, don’t take what i said earlier wrong, he’s not just like oh yes quiet around you (that’s not his personality people need to be better🙄), but when you two are in public he’s not like really affectionate? unless he’s jealous because he is (infact) an insecure bitch, but whenever that happens it feels forced and awkward figure that out kags.
we see the way he acts with hinata like? if he’s comfortable with you he’s going to be loud as fuck there’s no denying it. yall get told to shut up like on the daily?
shares his milk with you😁 not his food tho
LMAOFJAOFJS IM SORRY BUT HAVE YOU SEEN THAT MANS RELATIONSHIP WITH EATING? you ain’t getting between that babe
anyway here’s a fucking playlist for your hot ass i am literally in love with you. i really like this playlist tbh :)
1. sometimes (backwood); gigi- starting off with my favorite song at the moment. this isn’t really completely a deep meaning with the lyrics thing, because this song is pretty sad? i think it’s so vibey. it’s so good. it’s just a gentle, quiet night with the windows open and a full moon. however, like i said he’s insecure and has overthought while listening to this song.
2. breezeblocks; alt-J- mostly just a banger, indeed. you’re driving (i would not trust him behind the wheel? ever?), the lights are super pretty, he’s looking at you from the passenger seat ‘discretely’. he doesn’t want you to go, so those lyrics are accurate, but he’s also not a murderer dw😁 he couldnt
3. i wanna be yours; arctic monkeys- PHEW. OKAY. OKAY JESUS CHRSIT. no because you don’t understand yall are in LOVE? like in LOVE. he probably kisses you for the first time while this shit playing. he also, by default, blushes EVERY TIME THIS SONG COMES ON. such a lil bitch baby🙄
4. sucker; jonas brothers- stop before you say anything this song is unironically so good. i? could imagine you like? terribly dancing to this i dunno. i feel like if you got tobio in the right mood he would jam to some music w you‼️
5. EARFQUAKE; tyler, the creator- i think kageyama was like the kind of guy who mentally was constantly like “i want a gIRLFRIEND FUCK🤬🤬🤬”, but lile also once it happens? svary as fuck. have we not talked about how he does not really like himself much (thinking ab him practicing his smile rn poor baby). so yea, bad self confidence & in love with you. this song. PLUS, it’s a banger.
6. streets; doja cat- you at him lmao. do i have to say anything else?
7. ivy; frank ocean- he would put this song on a playlist for you and then not tell you about the song or the playlist and still get nervous about how youd react lmaooo. however, yknow in movies when like the guy looks at the girl and the music swells? that but with an emo volleyball player and frank ocean
8. redbone; childish gambino- very chill vibes and driving late at night energy. this song plays while yall lay on like ur couch or smth and you’re messing with the ends of his hair and he’s playing videos on his phone with one hand and like kind of awkwardly nervously trying to hold ur hand with the other and he just does the pinky thing thAT WE WERE TALKIN BOUT LMAOO
9. cocoa butter kisses; chance the rapper- i feel like if you were to smoke, this is the song you’d get high to. i don’t have much reason other than that? i can just see this playing in the background as you two exist together
10. my kind of woman; mac demarco- man, you’re really driving him mad🙄 BUT‼️ I THINK? ITS ALRIGHT WITH HIM😳. he’s absolutely whipped and he didn’t even know he had the ABILITY. i feel like you like to prove people wrong, so here’s another instance.
11. casual; doja cat- i know everyone hates getting played, but you feel like you would take a LOTTA precautions to avoid that, including the whole walls up deal. you’re super upfront about it? you’re not like secretly testing the waters, you’re like ‘if ur fucking w me gtfo of my face lol’ but clearly you wouldn’t talk to kags like that (however he’d hurriedly say he’s not a little too loud)
12. afraid; the neighbourhood- ABSOLUTE TOBIO ENERGY (also oikawa energy, i think its so cute that we are married and the mfs we choose to love r rivals). but anywho, absolute MAD tobio energy. yes he also takes out his insecurities with anger don’t actually like he’s not gonna have to work on that lmao
13. sex on fire; kings of leon- arguably one of the best songs to ever exist. he would be like ?!😳 the first time he heard it and youd probably like flick him LMAOFJAODJ this is just a good jam song for you two. he would definitely sing this song with you, don’t care don’t care
14. scary love; the neighbourhood- i’m beginning to think the neighbourhood just has kageyama energy? remind me to look into that later. either way, i’m putting extreme emphasis on this song. this song is completely how he feels. this song is IT. he watches in anticipation as he “shows you it cos it’s a good song”. please just be nice to him (while also bullying him😁)
15. when you were young; the killers- you’ve made out to this song i’m so sorry. MAYBE THATS JUST BECAUSE I THINK THIS WOULD BE THE PERFECTTTTJRJEJTI SONG. god. good fucking music. equal mix of good song and the lyrics hitting

Julia POV
Warm rays of sunshine brushed Julia’s freckled cheeks, making up for the bite of frost in the air. The sky was a cheerful blue today, reflecting her mood. She was sitting at a street corner, admiring the view of quaint little shops that resembled the cutesy designs of dollhouses.
Saturday morning chatter rung in her ears in soft, eloquent words of French that were so different from the English required for her job. A frenzy of Bonjour’s (hello/good morning) and Comment allez vous? (How are you doing?) could be heard from across the street.
It was good to be home, to have a day off to enjoy the beauty she had forgotten Poiters possessed. As an avid traveller, there was nowhere quite like the city. Nothing could match it’s charming, Romanesque buildings or tranquil solitude.
Julia smiled at nothing in particular, a flaky, warm croissant in one hand and a timeless romance novel in the other.
How long had it been since she had gotten to relax like this? To enjoy the nature of her city and not have to chase a certain red rogue across the globe? The very same red rogue she struggled to protect from her coworkers?
A sigh escaped her lips. Suddenly her mind wandered to someone she hadn’t wanted to think about: Carmen Sandiego. The thief never ceased to plague her thoughts lately. A warm blush tinted her cheeks as she recalled the kiss they had shared in Cairo, Egypt. There was a sort of thrill in knowing it was so, so wrong, and Julia hated the adrenaline rush it gave her.
Their last interaction had been a week ago, and it had been on an ACME mission rather than the late night visits the thief had begun to pay her. The absence of the red rogue pained her terribly. She missed Carmen. She missed everything about her from her cunning gray eyes to her knowing smile, the light rasp to her voice, and the feel of her lips. She had barely gotten to see the lady in red recently.
Would this be what a relationship with the woman would entail? Random visits sprinkled through the weeks while Carmen gallivanted around the globe and Julia had to pretend she wanted her behind bars? Would she be doomed to live with this uncertainty, this emptiness?
At her inner turmoil, the thief seemed to appear before her with her signature smirk, the curl of her lips forever ingrained in Julia’s memory. Hallucination-Carmen spoke, reciting the promise she had made her not too long ago. “We can have a normal relationship, Jules. We’ll be able to see each other everyday, go on dates, do all of that couple-y stuff. I promise.”
Julia had scoffed at that, of course. Maybe in another world where she wasn’t dating a thief, for goodness sakes. But still she wished there was some way the red rogue could fulfill her promise. Julia knew that what Carmen was doing was absolutely important but....she couldn’t help but be selfish and wish she had her to herself.
On top of that, though, there was the fear that whatever was happening between the two was nothing but physical on Carmen’s end, that this...fling...would be over in a heartbeat and the red rogue would once again disappear with Julia’s heart, only this time she wouldn’t return.
She didn’t want fo think about that.
Trying to take her mind off her worries, Julia reopened her book. The petite woman frowned, nibbling on the last of her pastry and lazily scanning the page for anything interesting. It was one of her favorites, yet she couldn’t bring herself to relax, to forget.
Sighing, she closed the book with a sense of finality, tucking it safely in her messenger bag. It was no use. Nothing could keep Julia’s attention from Carmen for long.
“Partir déjà?” Said Nadia, Julia’s friend and the cashier. The woman adjusted the side of her hijab before opening the cash register. “Habituellement, vous passez toute la matinée ici lorsque vous êtes absent.”
TRANSLATION: “Leaving Already?.....Usually you spend the entire morning here when you’re off.”
Julia smiled sadly. “Quelque chose me vient à l'esprit ces derniers temps, Je ne peux pas me détendre.”
TRANSLATION: “Something has been on my mind lately. I can’t relax.”
Nadia smirked knowingly. “Querelle d'amant?“
TRANSLATION: “Lover’s Quarrel?“
Julia felt her cheeks heat up. Nadia was one of the few people who even knew she was seeing someone, let alone the fact that that someone was a thief. “Entre autres, oui. Il s’agit plus de mon travail.“
TRANSLATION: “Among other things, yes. It’s more about my job.“
Nadia shook her head, making a tut sound. “Tu travailles trop dur.“ She inserted her credit card into the register, swiping twice before the transaction was complete. “Vous savez, les filles et moi allons au Buckingham Club ce soir. Tu devrais venir. Je parie que cela vous fera oublier ... quel est son nom? Carolyn?“
TRANSLATION: You work too hard....You know, the girls and I are hitting the Buckingham Club tonight. You should come. I bet that’ll take your mind off of...what’s her name? Carolyn?“
“Carmen.“ Julia corrected with a smile. “Et Je ne sais pas, pas ce soir. je n'en ai pas vraiment envie.”
TRANSLATION: “Carmen....I don’t know, not tonight. I don’t really feel like it.”
“ S'il vous plaît? Ce sera amusant!?” Nadia replied, making an exaggerated pouty face.
TRANSLATION: “Please? It’ll be fun!”
“Je ne devrais vraiment pas.....”
TRANSLATION: “I really shouldn’t...”
The cashier shook her head, pressing her lips into a thin line. “Oh, Julia, tu es toujours aussi ennuyeuse.”
TRANSLATION: “Oh, Julia, you’re always such a bore.”
Jules simply smiled in response, pushing the rim of her glasses up her nose. “Peut-être la prochaine fois, Nadia.”
TRANSLATION: “Maybe next time, Nadia.”
She said her goodbyes and left the small cafe, the little bell at the door signaling her departure. The cool, crisp air met Julia immediately, the frost already kissing her skin. She turned the corner, making a beeline for her apartment complex when suddenly, a certain beeping sound caught her attention.
A very familiar beeping sound.
She threw a discreet glance over her shoulder before darting into the nearest alleyway, ducking behind the nearest dumpster before removing her pen from her pocket.
Julia clicked the cap, tossing it to the ground as she wrinkled her nose at the stench.
“Agent Argent.“ Chief’s no-nonsense voice came as her hologram blossomed. “I have a new mi-“ She paused, taking in Julia’s location.
“Are you behind a dumpster, Agent?“
Julia felt her cheeks heat slightly “I was in public and had to be...creative...“ She replied curtly, breathing through her mouth.
“Right....anyhoo,“ Chief began again, adjusting her blazer. “I’ve got on assignment for you. I’m sorry to interupt your time off, but you’re the closest agent in proximity.“
Julia smiled sadly, scratching her wrist. “It’s alright, chief. I was feeling restless anyway.“
Chief cocked her head in mild concern. “I’m sorry to hear that, Argent. It’s nothing too serious, but we have reports of some meddling with the security systems at the Louvre. I need you to investigate.“
“Of course. Will Agent Zari or Devineaux be accompanying me?“ She asked, already picturing the splendor at the Louvre. Maybe a trip to the museum was just what she needed today.
“No. Zari and Devineaux are on a case in Santo Domingo.“ Chief said, beginning to pace the length of the alleyway.
“Khadija or Jonas, then?“ Julia replied, referencing two agents she’d been paired with in the past, albeit less frequently than Chase or Zari.
“You’ll be going it alone today. Intel indicates that Carmen Sandiego won’t be present. I trust you can handle a routine check up.”
“I’ll take care of it, chief.“ She answered, giving a small salute to her superior. Internally, Julia released a sigh of relief that she wouldn’t have to tail Carmen.
“Good. Transportation has already been arranged and the details should be on your phone.“ Chief said, crossing her arms. Almost simultaneously, her phone pinged with an encrypted email from ACME.
“Don’t disapoint me, Agent.“ With a terse nod, the hologram disappeared from before her.
Quickly, she darted home and changed into her ACME-issued suit before making her way to the train station. Paris was waiting, after all.
...
No matter how many times she frequented the city, Paris never ceased to amaze Julia with a million new places she hadn’t visited yet. The Louvre, however, was an outlier to the fact. It was Julia’s favorite spot to hit whenever she was in the area.
It had been One-Thirty when her train had pulled into the Paris Saint Lazare, a station settled on the right bank of the Seine and the one closest in proximity to her destination.
The Louvre lay before her in all its grandiose splendor, afternoon sunlight glinting off of the crystal pyramid and casting a rainbow into the burbling fountain before it. The Famed palace of the same name was set on either sides of it, the tasteful renaissance era architecture transporting her into another time.
Julia smiled. She knew every corner of the museum. Every nook and crany was immortalized in her mind from it’s renowned Petite Galerie to it’s extended Egyptian exhibit.
She removed her ACME card from her messenger bag, thumbing it’s side to allow her interpol credentials before going to speak with the security
As promised, a staff member was waiting for her once she got inside.
“Bonjour. Julia Argent, Interpol Britain?“ A tall, skinny man with hooded blue eyes and unkempt blonde hair stepped forward.
“Oui.“ She replied, flashing her badge. “Marcel Cardone?“
“Oui, correct.“ He answered in a thick French accent. “Thank you for coming.“ He said, gesturing for her to walk with him.
Julia smiled. “Bien sûr. J'ai été informé mes supérieurs de la mission. Pouvez-vous me dire quel semble être exactement le problème?“
TRANSLATION: “Of course. I was briefed by my superiors on the mission. Can you tell me what exactly seems to be the problem?“
Marcel spoke as he led her through the halls of the grand building. “Do not worry, I am fluent in English. I do not know the details but the head of security will inform you on the matter.“
“Sounds good,“ Julia said reverting back to English. Her guide stopped at a door with la sécurité (security) written in bold script.
“This is it, mademoiselle.“ Marcel said, opening the door and leading her to the back. Standing before her was another door. Probably to an office, Julia guessed. “Monsieur Toussaint? L'agent d'Interpol est arrivé.“
TRANSLATION: “Mr.Toussaint? The interpol agent has arrived.“
A tall, stocky man with brown skin glanced up, adjusting his glasses. “L'agent? Miss, le problème s'est corrigé juste avant votre arrivée.”
TRANSLATION: “The Agent? Miss, the issue corrected itself just before you arrived.
“Il n'y a donc rien de mal avec la sécurité?” Julia asked, confused.
TRANSLATION: “So is there nothing wrong with the security?“
“Plus maintenant, non...” Mr.Toussaint answered, scrutinizing her.
TRANSLATION. “Not anymore, no.”
“Mais je suis venu tout ce chemin...” She answered, slightly disappointed.
TRANSLATION: “But I came all this way....”
The man scratched the side of his head in mild concern. “Nous sommes désolés, mademoiselle. Perhaps you would like a tour of the Louvre in compensation?”
TRANSLATION: “We are sorry, Miss. Perhaps you would like a tour of the Louvre in compensation?”
“No, it’s quite alright, thank you.” Julia murmured, tugging at the hem of sleeve.
“Please accept. Nous allons même le rendre gratuit!”
TRANSLATION: Please accept. We will even make it free!”
“If you insist.” Julia smiled awkwardly.
“Good.” Mr.Toussaint lifted the phone on his desk, dialing as he spoke. “Cheryl? Préparez-vous à faire une visite. Oui. Rencontrez-la près des statues.”
TRANSLATION. “Cheryl? Prepare to give a tour. Yes. Meet her by the statues.”
The balding man put the phone down, swiping through the many papers scattered on his desk. “Our tour guide, Cheryl, will meet you out by our Sculpture Department. Please enjoy your day.”
They exchanged goodbyes and thank-yous before Mr. Toussaint returned to the millions of files on his desk and Julia to the swarming museum crowds.
Deftly, Julia navigated the throngs of people, making her way to the modern sculpture exhibit. As promised a woman was waiting before the exhibit checking her watch.
Her dark red-brunette hair was pulled into a pony-tail, and a pair of green khakis and a blue blouse contrasting against her flawless brown skin. From the back of her head, Julia could see a thick pair of glasses settling at the rim of her nose.
She seemed familiar, so very familiar....
And then she spoke. “Enjoying the view, Jules?”
The light rasp, the sultry tone of voice...
The petite woman gasped. “Carmen?”
“Surprise.” The thief said with a smirk.
“What’re you doing here?!” Julia asked, confused. Was Carmen behind the security issue already being solved before she arrived?
“You must have mistaken me for someone else,” The Red Rogue grinned coyly, reaching over gracefully and slipping her fingers between Julia’s. “I’m just Cheryl Vasquez, foreign exchange student and Louvre Tour guide.”
“Of course.” Julia scoffed but played along. “And what would Cheryl Vasquez be doing touring the Louvre?”
“If you’re asking whether I’m here to stop VILE, then no. They aren’t trying to steal anything. I’m here of my own accord.” Carmen replied, her thumb tracing circles along Julia’s palm.
“So I suppose it’s just a coincidence that I was sent here on a mission?”
Carmen winked at her, her rouged lips relaxing into their signature grin. “Yep. A coincidence. Absolutely nothing more.”
A twitch of annoyance flared within Julia. Sometimes Carmen’s games could get tiring. “Well then, since you aren’t stealing anything, I’ll be on my way then.”
“What?” The thief said, for once taken aback.
“You heard me.” Julia began with a smirk, turning in the other direction. “Have a nice day, Miss Sandiego. The Louvre is quite the sight to see.”
“Not so fast, Jules.” Carmen grasped her wrists gently, pulling her in close. Julia blushed, her mouth mere inches from the thief’s. She parted her lips gently, her eyelids sinking lower. Her tongue flecked across the expanse of her bottom lips as she waited to meet the thief’s lips for the first time in more than a week.
“Huh?” Julia said in confusion as she felt the other woman’s heat move away from her own.
Carmen was no longer before her, lips moving closer. Instead she darted away from the smaller woman, a smug grin scrawled on her beautiful face. She waved Julia’s ACME gas gun in the air teasingly, throwing her a wink. “A theft in progress is occurring, agent. You’re lawfully required to follow.”
“Carmen!” Julia shouted in shock, not at all caring about the attention they were gaining from their fellow museum-go-ers. “Give it back!”
“Come and get me!” She called with a trickle of laughter, disappearing into the hordes of people.
Julia smiled despite her frustration and ran after her, for once not at all caring that her behavior was extremely unprofessional.
That was what Carmen did to her. She...freed her. Allowed Julia to relax, to sit still, to live in the moment.
Julia felt all the tension that had built up over the course of the week melt away as she pursued the chase and danced across the Louvre court yard.
She chased Carmen out of the museum, nearing the edge of the complex. “Aha!” Julia shouted, finally catching up to her lover and realizing a smile had formed on her lips.
“You’ve got me, alright,” Carmen smiled, lowering her lashes flirtatiously as her voice lowered teasingly. She slipped her arms around Julia’s waist being just tall enough that the shorter woman had to slightly look up to meet her eyes. “Now what’re you gonna do with me?”
Julia answered her with a kiss, feeling the thief’s bright red lipstick smear onto her mouth. The lady in red captured Julia’s lower lip with her teeth, chuckling at the ACME agent’s Yelp of surprise as she tugged. Every gasp that managed to escape her lips was swallowed by Carmen’s mouth as she pulled her closer with passion.
“Mhm, I’ve missed that.” Julia smiled. “I’ve missed you.”
“You aren’t the only one.” Carmen purred against her lips. “You have no idea how badly I wanted to come and see you...but...”
“It’s alright, Carmen. I understand.” Julia whispered, touching her forehead to the Latina’s and lacing her fingers through the thief’s. “Do you plan on telling me why you’re here, though?”
“Can’t I just pay a visit to my favorite ACME agent?” She teased, beginning to lead Julia out of the museum complex.
“At my apartment, yes. But here?”
“Okay fine....” The thief relented, turning away. Julia spotted a tiny tinge of a blush dusting her cheeks. Carmen? Blushing? “I....may or may not have had my team hack the museum security and leave a trace to VILE to get you sent here.”
“Carmen!” Julia hissed. “You could get caught! And for what? Just to see me? You can meet me at my apartment!”
“Hey, hey, what’s done is done, alright?” She said, her arms flying in front of her in attempt to calm her down. Then, she smiled. “Aww you were worried about me. That’s adorable.“
“Thats-Thats not!....Thats not the point!“ Julia tried to fight a blush but it was no use.
Carmen laughed, caressing Julia’s face and tilting her chin up to meet her eyes. “Hey. I know you mean well. I’ll be more careful from now on. Promise.“
“O...Okay.“ Julia murmured, the woman in red’s slate gray eyes catching her off guard.
“But...since you’re already here....we should make the most of it, no?“ Carmen smiled sweetly, for once with no tinge of smugness to it.
“Alright.“ Julia relented with a small grin. “So is this a....date?“
The latina winked, her teeth sliding over her bottom lip. “Do you want it to be?“
“No! I mean...I just thought...“
“Relax, I’m messing with you.“ Carmen said, taking Julia’s hands in hers. “The truth is...Jules...I wanted to prove that I’m serious about this. About us. You...mean a lot to me, and I want us to be about more than just random hookups.“
The petite woman felt herself smiling at the other’s words, and gave the red rogue’s hands a squeeze. “You have no idea how relieved I am to hear you say that.“
Carmen returned her grin, running her thumb over Julia’s knuckles. “Explanations aside, are you ready for the greatest date in the world?“
Julia’s brow tugged upwards along with her lips. “The greatest, huh?“
Carmen threw her a flirty glance. “Hey, I don’t settle for second best.“
“I can see that. Alright then, Miss Sandiego.“ The shorter woman said coyly, “Show me what you got.“
....
ANON!! THIS IS SO AMAZING OH MY GOD?? for your first fic this is incredible and i absolutely love how you write them!! everything is so in character and carmen absolutely would create an entire heist just to meet up with jules 😭

When I go looking for Dark discussions on the internet, I keep seeing people saying that Adam won or that Adam was right, and I really disagree with that.
First of all, Adam wasn't right. His solution to "end suffering" was total annihilation, the destruction of both worlds and all life in it. Adam didn't know about a third world, he didn't know that there was a way to untie the knot and still keep one world alive, but he was willing to destroy both worlds anyway. He was ok with destroying all the worlds that he thought existed. All because he and a few people were caught in the time loop. The thing is: the people who suffered because of the time loop were just a handful when compared to all of the people in the entire world. Yes, the time loop was terrible for them, but there were still plenty of people in the world who lived normal and good lives. Who is Adam to decide if all these people in the world deserve to die or not? Who is he to decide whether they have a right to existence or not?
The thing is, Eva is also a terrible person who did terrible things to perpetuate the loop. But if there was no third world, if the only options they had were either keep the loop or destroy all life and existence, then I'm 100% on Eva's side. Just because there's suffering in the world, doesn't mean that there aren't good things, like happiness and love. Just because people are destined to die at some point, doesn't mean that people can't enjoy the time that they do have alive. Just because there's no real free will, doesn't mean that people can't appreciate their lives. Eva's goal recognized just that: that life is still good, even with all the bad things that happen. Meanwhile, Adam's goal was purely nihilistic.
I also see people saying that "technically", Adam won and Eva lost, because Adam's goal was to destroy the two worlds and Eva's goal was to protect her son. But I don't agree with that either. Because Adam's goal was not just to "destroy both worlds" or "destroy the knot": he explicitly says that his goal is total annihilation, eternal darkness, he believes this is the true paradise, and he doesn't get that in the end. The origin world will still exist, and just because the time loop doesn't exist anymore, doesn't mean that this world won't also be full of suffering just like the other two worlds. Suffering is just part of life. So Adam never really achieved his goal of eternal darkness: he achieved his goal of untying the knot, but he had to accept that he wouldn't eradicate suffering, he wouldn't defeat time, and one world would still exist.
Eva didn't "lose" either. Sure, she had one personal goal of keeping her son alive (just like Adam had his own personal goal of ending his own existence, and Claudia had a personal goal of saving Regina), but she also had a more idealistic goal, which was to preserve life (just like Adam and Claudia also had their own idealistic goals beside just their personal goals). She explicitly says that this is her goal when she gives her speech to Erit Lux when she sends them on their missions: "Every darkness is followed by light. With every death comes a life." She is recognizing that yes, there is darkness and death, but there's also life and that's worth preserving. When she convinces Young Martha to kill Jonas, she says "If you want Jonas to live, if you want all of them to live, then we must do what has always been done". She doesn't appeal to Martha using just her son (that she just met), she appeals to her by saying that for "all of them" to live, this is what must be done. Her goal might include her son, but this isn't just about her son, it's about preserving all life. So yes, in the end, Eva doesn't achieve her own personal goal of preserving her son's life, but she does achieve her goal of preserving life through the continued existence of the origin world (and she and Adam both accept their fate of disappearing and face it peacefully).
In the end, neither Eva or Adam win or lose entirely: Adam achieves his personal goal of ending his own existence and his goal of destroying the knot, but not his goal of eternal darkness. Eva achieves her goal of preserving life, but not her goal of protecting her son.
Also, I think it's important to point out that Claudia was more aligned with Eva than with Adam (because I constantly see people saying that Claudia and Adam had "the same goal", which couldn't be further from the truth). Claudia explicitly rejects Adam's point of view when she tells Jonas that Adam "doesn't want to fix things, he wants to destroy them forever". When she first talks to her younger self, the one command she gives to herself is "you must stop Adam". Before she starts to think that there might be a way to untie the knot without destroying life, she was going along with Eva's plans, because she preferred preserving life over Adam's goal of destroying everything.
In the end, neither Adam or Eva truly win. The ones who win are Claudia, young Jonas and young Martha, the ones who hadn't lost hope that they could untie the knot while also saving the world. Claudia wins because she doesn't lose hope, unlike Eva and Adam.
Finally, I guess you could debate on whether the show wants to argue that eternal darkness is a good thing or not. You could argue that the show does want us to see eternal darkness as a good thing, especially considering Hannah's speech about nothingness and darkness in the last scene, and the fact that the show is called Dark. But right after Hannah says that her dream of darkness and nothingness felt like a good thing, the show ends with Hannah musing that she wants to name her son Jonas. The show ends by giving us hope that maybe Jonas will exist somehow, by reminding us of a new life, a new baby about to be born. So I'd argue that the show wants us to consider both sides. And anyway, regardless of the intended message, I still consider that Adam was wrong, regardless of whether he was "partially correct" about erasing the two worlds.

2032, post-apocalypse world
—
A déjà-vu.
Elisabeth had been ten the first time she had met him under an heavy rain. Now, it was like if the ghost had decided to reappear in front of her again. And by his demeanor, it wouldn't be surprising if this Noah was a walking corpse.
Because he was not her Noah. This one, dressed like a priest, was older, years of experience on his face, and looked incommensurable exhausted, like if he had seen and done more than anyone. But his eyes- his eyes were the same eyes Elisabeth had seen a few minutes ago when leaving their cabin to check the traps. Blue. Icy. But gentle and kind when looking at her.
And she understood. He travelled from the future. Or the past.
Elisabeth.
She could read her name on his lips but not the expression on his face. Maybe she was a ghost for him as well?
Elisabeth.
He repeated the name again and walked forward, stretching forth a trembling hand. The next few seconds passed in a blur, just like the many questions going through Elisabeth's head, and the more he was getting closer, the more her heart broke. Something terrible happened, and she was frightened, not sure of wanting to know the reasons of his watery eyes, of her absence by his side, of the trembling lips when he stood finally a few inches from her. She didn't step back. How could she, when Noah -no matter his age, his world, his motivation- looked so desperate.
Very slowly, Elisabeth brought a hand to rest on his cheek and he leaned into it, craving her touch. He shut his eyes and she pulled him in close, putting his forehead against hers.
—
Her Noah was in their cabin made of bits and pieces, getting the fire going again when she entered, and he instantly stood up, a fire-iron in hands when he saw a shadow following her.
He froze, his eyes widening almost comically.
Him.
The apparition sent the younger man back into the past, in Erna’s tavern, more than 10 years from now (or a century, depending of the point of view). A curious feeling started to build in the pit of his stomach.
The two men observed one another, pondering the next move.
I know our social skills are a bit rusty, but this is N-O-T how we welcome a guest, Eisabeth signed to her Noah before moving to stand by his side. She linked her fingers with his and looked at the other man with genuine kindness. You can stay here. After all, it is technically your place as well.
The older Noah nodded once, his lips curling up only the slightest bit.
Still, his younger self observed him without a reaction -for such a long time Elisabeth thought he was never going to reply, or worse, was going to chase the ‘intruder’ out. Green eyes set upon him with disapproval, he gave up.
“Of course,” the words sounded fake. "Make yourself at home.”
—
The three of them sat by the wood-burner, drinking bad homemade alcohol. Elisabeth and Noah shared a chair built out of an old mattress, while the older Noah sat on a stool, his eyes traveling between the cup in his hands, the fire, and the couple.
After a few questions that their guest eluded with talent, silence reigned. Outside was the dull sound of the rain, clashing against the roof of corrugated iron, and, when the noise ceased, the two Noahs looked up at the ceiling in perfect sync. Elisabeth smiled at herself at the sight.
A sudden shiver of cold ran through her back and both men’s attention instantly focused on her. The younger one pulled her against him, one arm tightening around her shoulder to warm away the cold as their sides aligned. Elisabeth looked up at him with affection, took another sip of liquor and then turned to face the other one.
Not very tasty but it helps to keep you warm. On the other hand, I have nothing to compare it to, she signed to their guest, and her smile slightly dimmed down. But... I guess you already know that.
The older man nodded, his eyes softening.
“Yes,” his voice and hands answered, “I know that.”
Elisabeth grinned and drank once more, leaning back into her lover's hold.
We met before. I mean..., she meant that rainy day in the forest. Why the priest outfit?
Again, the slightest curl appeared on his lips at Elisabeth’s inquisitiveness.
It helps to earn the trust of people, he justified easily, a certain distance in his explanation. Most people claim they don’t believe in God, but they do show respect to a man of God. Paradox.
Then, his right hand moved up to his roman collar and his fingers started to remove the constraint. The white band gone, he undid the first button of his shirt and drank again, his eyes on Elisabeth over the rim of his can.
She hold the gaze -this familiar and comforting icy blue gaze- and tilted her head.
A heavy silence fell upon them. There would be no more answers from him.
—
Anyone would be jealous -or at least defensive- over the way their guest looked at Elisabeth. But here the thing: this other man and him were one.
Noah observed how his older-self couldn't avert his eyes from her, like a drowning man looking at dry land. With an abyssal desire, starved of touch, and undying love. He recalled a few moments of jealousy, the resentment he had felt years ago -when Elisabeth and Jonas had shared a loud laugh over a 21th century detail Noah couldn't grasp ; or when Jonas had offered her a hand after a little slip in the mud, when he was the one supposed to take care of her ; or when she had confessed that she'd had a boyfriend before him... The corruption of jealousy was known. And, despite the evident thirst in this older man (this older him), he notably felt not a fragment of it. On the contrary.
A part of him took pride in this idea -the idea that after decades, Elisabeth was still his compass.
The soft frame pressed against his side elbowed him, and Elidabeth's eyes flicked down on her empty mettalic glass to ask for more. Noah grabbed the jar on the ground, already light, and refilled their three cups.
—
After two hours around the fireplace drinking their awful booze, the already non-existent conversation was dying, as well as their senses. Elisabeth was still comfortably settled against her Noah, and he was running his fingers through her hair, out of habit.
They didn't mind their special guest at all, who remained silent and kept observing the couple, nostalgia and yearning on his features. Eventually, he put down his glass and focused on the twenty-two years old woman. She felt his stare on her (as she always did) and turns her eyes to meet his.
Can I kiss you? he signed.
During a fraction of second, she almost glimpsed the hesitant boy she had kissed for the first time five years ago, and a soft laugh escaped her lips. Her head was light with liquor and, after a last gulp that emptied her cup, Elisabeth cocked her head to look up at her lover with a silent question. Of course she could do many things without his approval -going hunting alone at night, disappearing during hours to scavenge in risky places, walking under the rain without a hood despite his many looks of disapproval. But, here and now, there was a kiss at stake.
You know it's not cheating if it's you, Elisabeth signed with a smirk, her ears red.
Both men looked at each other over her blond's head, and there was a silent conversation, a mutual understanding. Unfailing care in the eyes of the younger man, hopeless need in the eyes of the older one. Love in both.
Young Noah nodded at the request.
In one slow movement, Elisabeth left her Noah's warmth and straightened up to shift closer of his older version. There was flush on his cheeks and a veil before his dark eyes, partly due to the alcohol. His gaze lingered for long seconds on her chapped lips, giving Elisabeth chance to back off, and he delighted on the fact that she didn't do it. He leant in slowly, pressed his lips to hers, and it was like breathing fresh air again after years under water.
To Elisabeth' surprise, the kiss tasted the same as it always did: a mix of smoky aftertaste of alcohol and dried meat, with sweat and the peculiar manly musk he always carried. She closed her eyes and couldn't tell the difference.
It was Noah.
The kiss gradually heated up as lips, teeth and tongues got involved, and he laced one of his hands into unwhashed blonde hair and wrapped the other around her neck. She followed suit without hesitation.
In peripheral, between sips of bad liquor, the younger man observed them, fascinated and terrified by the sight. Fascinated, because he was able to witness Elisabeth's reactions in their entirety without being part of the performance, to see how her body molded perfectly against his despite it being a different version.
And terrified, because the desesperation in the kisses of his older self translated need and pain and absence and desire. When was the last time he saw his Elisabeth? What changed him? What changed me? The same unanswered questions he had asked himself before his first time travel.
Elisabeth softly moaned between kisses, and the younger man recognized the familiar sound, the familiar call. She wanted more.
—
From his chair by the fireplace, the older Noah tried to avert his eyes but they never left them.
The young couple stumbled on their makeshift mattress, Elisabeth's back pushed into the cushion by the weight of her lover's body on top of her. Tee-shirts and pants were still on, hands disappearing underneath as fingers found their way to warm skin.
This night had always remained a dissonance in Noah's memory, convinced of it non-existence -like a fairytale, or a dream, or the result of too much alcohol combined with exhaustation and hormones. His consciousness had locked the memory of it inside a chest at the back of his mind to preserve his sanity.
But now, every detail of the coming hours sprang into abrupt definition.
Elisabeth wrapped her legs around her Noah's waist as he trailed feather-light kisses up her neck and jaw and, she must have sensed his older version looking at them (at her). Her eyes found his.
Without a second thought, she reached her hand out to invite him to join them (join her).
Above the young woman, Noah glanced over his shoulder. Once more, the same mutual understanding bonded the two men, a mutual need of her that none of them could or wanted to resist. A prudent nod, and the younger man pressed back his tongue on Elisabeth's neck. The older one stood up from his spot by the fire and took the hand offered to him.
—
Being the center of every attention, Elisabeth was the first one fully naked. Her Noah pressed his chest behind her, one of his arms wrapped around her waist, and she felt him murmuring something against the nape of her neck, before dropping a wet kiss.
Thery were both facing the older version of him, the three of them on their knees on the mattress.
He was Noah. A different one, an older one. But still, it was him. The hunger in his eyes as they raked all over her naked form, the lips slightly parted, the rise and fall of his chest... same reactions than the boy she loved. It was him.
The two men exchanged a glance which she didn't grasp every implication, and the older one moved closer to kiss her. She greeted him in full. From behind, the younger Noah’s hands clenched around her, his still covered hips grinding against hers, pressing with sensuality while his tongue drew intricate figures on her shoulder.
Elisabeth shut her eyes at the sensation, and gasped. Two pairs of hands on her, two pairs of lips, the roughness of their calloused fingers against her skin, their good-natured greediness, but the same man –it all left her breathless.
Her eyelashes fluttered against her cheeks and she bit her bottom lip in bliss.
—
Elisabeth was leaning back on her Noah, sat, her back against his sweaty chest for support, while the older version of him had his head between her legs.
A steady stream of undefined sounds was escaping her throat at every move of his tongue, only ceasing when the younger man took her lips above her shoulder, swallowing her moans, as his hands went up to cup her breast, their peaks hard under his thumbs.
At the needy (and enthralling) noise Elisabeth made, Noah decided to focus on his older-self's work, to observe his ministrations in awe and interest –awe, for the effects it clearly had on Elisabeth's body, and interest for later uses: his tongue was running along her most secretive place, lapping like a thirsty cat, and swirling around that little electric bundle of nerves the young man had already became familiar with.
In three years of intimate relationship, Noah had never done such thing to her -or even never heard about this. Was it a 21st century thing? How was it named? Whatever it was, he decided he would have to do it from now, because Elisabeth was panting, sharp, hard little breaths against his neck that went straight to his cock.
And when his older-self pushed two fingers inside of her, her head rolled back on his younger-self shoulder, limbs trembling.
—
It was just a dance for two this time -at the beginning.
Elisabeth took her time in riding her Noah, face damp and flushed. Her movements were wide, sweeping, and her hands balled into his shoulders for support as she hovered over him, a cascade of blonde hair isolating them from the rest of the world. They stuttered. He thrusted up, made her groan, and eased her downwards. Mouthes inches apart, the young man tried to kiss her but she decided to deprive him of it.
With a devilish smile, Elisabeth leaned back, bracing her hands on his knees, and rolled her hips. An amazon riding a submissive stalion. Eyes shut, she took stock of her pleasure when his large hands gripped her waist tight, possessively, hungrily, his hips snapping up to meet each shift of hers.
But other hands joined those already holding her.
No. No other hands. The same hands. And the same adoration when they touched her.
The amazon opened her eyes, glancing over her sweaty shoulder, to meet familiar icy ones.
“You're so beautiful,” her older lover murmured without sigining against her shoulder blade. One of his hands resting on her low back to guide her back-and-forth movements, the other one slid down her stomach, towards the area between her legs. His thumb brushed against her sensitive nub and Elisabeth gasped for air.
“So beautiful...” the younger man echoed in the face of such sight, as his lenght slipped easily into her. He needed her more. Closer. He sat up and thrusts deep to drag out another moan. Their foreheads pressed together and both their bodies rocked in perfect harmony, wrapped around each other like vines. Her tongue plunged into his mouth for a deep kiss.
Elisabeth's right hand curled into his dirty blonde hair, while her left one searched behind for the other man. A hot breath caressed the back of her neck and she was now trapped between them, enveloped only by Noah's warmth, Noah’s skin, Noah’s fervor... Suffocating exquisitely, Elisabeth broke the kiss to pant, as each of her two lovers lavished attention on a side of her neck.
Moans filled the small cabin.
—
The feel and scent of them -of him- overwhelmed her every sense.
The older Noah was on top of her, his hands framing her face like she was a treasure he had lost and only just found again. Each of his thrusts were slow, deliberate languid circles, his lenght within the heat of Elisabeth’s body. And as the pressure mounted, her legs lifted to clamp safely around him.
It was sweet, gentle, less passionate than with his younger self. The reason being this time, her Noah, was not part of the picture. On his own initiative, he stepped back.
Not out of pure altruism -he was doing it for himself after all. The young man had caught his older-self’s reactions when Elisabeth had come the two previous times. Eyes fixated on her. Dark pupils blown wide. Breathing deep and steady through his nose. Hard. The gnawing need to connect with her skin, to bury himself deep into her, to feel her constricting around him... The young man had lived with such hunger enough to recognize it on his own face.
But he perceived something else, more disconcerting and alarming. A void. A culpability. An agony Elisabeth was the only one able to appease (or able to cause).
So the young man withdrew to let the old one find peace in her arms for an instant, and sat on the mattress, his hand sometimes passing on Elisabeth’ sweaty forehead or temples to push back her sticking hair.
Her eyes were shut, and Elisabeth savoured the familiar safety and tenderness of the body above her. The pleasure growing inside of her started to burn and a litany of moans fell from her lips, until salty dampness run on them.
She opened her eyes to look up.
The older Noah was crying. Noah was crying.
Without a second thought, Elisabeth softly grabbed the man’s face, bringing her lips to the crinkles at the corner of his eyes, and kissed his tears away. He buried his face in the curve of her neck, breathed her in, and his desperate embrace around her body became stronger -as well as each of his thrusts.
“Elisabeth...” his voice breathed, something deep-down and dried-blood dark in it, something that sticked and caught.
Then, a split second of weakness.
"I miss you...” he muttered against her skin, his words unheard by the reason of their formulation. “You have no idea how much I miss you."
This brief moment of weakness suspended time, words floating in the cabin despite their weight. They eventually sank into young Noah, feeding a dormant fear he had imagined gone, and his face twisted in pure bewilderment -and despair.
He missed her.
No.
Air struggled to leave his lungs, and he could feel his brain short-circuited at the implications. Where is she? What happened? Did she leave him? Did he leave her? No! I could never- This prospect had crossed his mind before, particularly when recalling his first confrontation with his older-self. The prospect that, maybe one day, Elisabeth would get tired of him, would reject him, to run free like the wild fox she was.
And yet, it wouldn’t change a thing -he would still look after her, even from afar -he would still be with her, even in darkness and solitude. Elisabeth remained his compass and nothing on earth could pull them apart.
So, if he missed her, if he was no more with her...
No!
By the time he’d regained the ability to use his senses, Elisabeth was reaching a hand out to him, so he could touch her -so he could anchor himself to her.
He bent and brought her hand to his lips, kissing the inside of her wrist, feeling the quick pulse under his mouth.
She watched her Noah through foggy eyes with a gentle smile, before closing them firmly, another wave of pleasure about to hit. Her nails digged into tattooed flesh.
—
The air in the small cabin carried the perfume of badly distilled alcohol and sex, the cold outside forgotten within these four walls.
Their naked bodies were crushed, satisfied, trying to find back their normal state, and Elisabeth’s one had been the first to give up. She quickly fell asleep between the two men. Her head rested on her Noah’s chest, ear pressed right over his heart, one of her arms wrapped around his waist... her subconscious clearly stating its preference.
On the other part of the bed, the older Noah laid on his side, tucking an arm under his head to observe them -her -him -himself -and it was evident. Evident that the scene in front of him was the only right thing. No matter the twisted consequences, timelines or connections, Elisabeth was the only right and good thing that ever happened to him.
His gaze left the soft curves of her bare hips, and shifted to met the one of his other-self, vehemently staring at him.
“You don't want to know,” he answered before the question.
"What happened?" the younger man asked anyway, the inquiry heavy for its unspoken extensions -to the plan? -to you?, and above all -to her?
The more experienced man rolled on his back. No answer could be given, both versions of him aware of the rules, so he shut his eyes, silence all around, until the white noise of rain pounded again against the roof.
"I failed her." The words came out reluctantly in a breath, like a sin confessed to be expiated. "I failed both of them."
Them?
The plural forced the younger Noah to make his own deduction: "Elisabeth and Adam?"
A glimmer of loathing passed the face of the ‘guest’, jaw clenched, eyes wide open on the ceiling like if it held all the secrets of the universe. Such reaction only increased the doubt in his younger version, and his grip froze firmer around Elisabeth’s middle.
A content sigh escaped her and the sound drew the other man's attention. Elbows sinking into the fatigued mattress, he leaned forward and kissed her shoulder, lips lighter than the flap of butterfly's wings. His mouth ghosted over the smooth expanse of her skin to inhale the scent of her. One last time.
In a catlike movement, he sat on the edge of the bed and swung his legs off. He walked around the small place, picked up his pants and slid them back on -then his black shirt -his suspenders -his jacket -in less than 30 seconds he was all dressed and ready to go.
Heading to the door, he ran his fingers through his hair to put it in some semblance of order, and now at the doorstep, his icy blue eyes passed through the cabin until they fell on the couple. On Elisabeth. She had her back to him, golden strands rolling and flowing all down it as she slept on her Noah’s chest.
The younger man didn’t avert his gaze from their ‘guest’, like a hawk ready to swoop down on its prey if necessary -of course he had noticed the gun hidden in the inside pocket of his jacket. His older-self was on mission, but there was something else behind the weary eyes. Something he had already seen once.
“You’ve lost faith,” he breathed cautiously.
A wall crumbled inside the older man at these words -famliar and loathed words, remnants of that day still clunged to his mind like tendrils. There was no attempt to negate the accusation. Not a word. Not a move. Only his fingers’ grip at the door handle tightening. He blinked a few times and looked over to where his heart rested.
"Take care of her."
And the man disappeared like he'd never been there at all, shutting the door behind him. Maybe he hadn't.
Take care of her.
The young man’s mind was racing; trying to come up with different ways to avoid that presage, to avoid what he would become -even if he didn’t know the how or the when. Noah’s thoughts started to get more incoherent, and they took him into a well-known maze of guilt, bloody schemes and dark secrets. But with a promised bright future at its end -for Elisabeth, for him, for his family... There couldn’t be another way.
He clung to this hope for his own sanity, and his psyche decided to bury the vision of an older self that contradicted all the beliefs that had built him.
Without even thinking, Noah’s arms encircled Elisabeth’s waist, and he drew her closer. Heat seemed to radiate from the points where their bodies touched, and he leaned into it, burying his face in her hair. He carefully arranged the sheets around them so they'd cover their still sweaty bodies.
He dropped a kiss on the top of her head.
And in the morning, the last hours would be just a fairytale, or a dream, or the result of too much alcohol combined with exhaustation and hormones, both convinced of their non-existence.
Because it had to.

Keeping Secrets Ch. 24
Keeping Secrets Masterlist
Dear Diary,
I thought when I got all of my memories back that I would feel different, that I would be different, like who I was in my first life and who I am in this life would somehow mesh together and create this new person. But I feel…like me, just with more knowledge. It’s weird, I thought my taste in things would change, but I like everything around me as much as I always did. I still love my friends and I still love Damon even though I’m mad at him. The one thing that has changed though, is that now I know that everything I’ve been feeling for Elijah is completely founded and rooted in truth, not magic. The spark that his touch always sent thought me wasn’t Fiona’s spell, it was what I felt before I had her cast it. Her spell just made it so that we would always be able to feel and find each other. Knowing that what I feel for Elijah is real… scares the shit out of me. I hated Damon for loving me and Katherine at the same time. Now I’m no better. It feels like my heart is a hunk of metal stuck between two high powered magnets labeled Elijah and Damon. It’s ripping me apart. I know Elijah is dead and I could just manipulate my way into the boarding house and pull that dagger from his chest, but a part of me wonders if Elijah and I would even make it in this day and age. Back then I was just a lonely housewife with a son to raise. Now I’m a vampire caught in the middle of this business with Klaus trying to kill Elena to unlock his werewolf side. I don’t know how strong my relationship with Elijah would be, but I know how strong mine and Damon’s could be if he would just stop lying to me...and if I could let go of Elijah.”
She had put down her pen and was closing the book when she heard a knock on the door. So she threw on a robe over the comfortable clothes she had put on when she got home from school and headed down stairs. When she pulled the door open the faces of her three friends came into view. Caroline held a small pink igloo cooler with a handle out to her. “I raided Damon’s stash for you.”
“You’re awesome.” Katie laughed and took the cooler from her.
“Get dressed.” Elena told her with a wrinkled nose look at the old robe she was wearing.
“We’re having a girls night at Elena’s.” Bonnie added as Katie stepped aside and let the girls inside.
“We thought about having it here, no adult supervision and all, but we assumed you wouldn’t have any real food in the house.” Elena told her as she went into the kitchen that could be seen from the living room and opened the pantry revealing a bunch of empty shelves and a few canned goods. “Just as we thought. Plus we want to catch Aunt Jenna and real her in for some cheering up.”
Katie scratched the back of her head and frowned. “No.” Caroline told her with her finger pointed at Katie. “Don’t try to back out of this. You have been mopey all week because of Damon and Elijah and we are not going to sit back and watch you spiral.”
Katie deadpanned at her. “I’m not spiraling.”
“Really?” Bonnie asked. “It’s three in the afternoon and you’re wearing pajamas.”
“Go… get dressed.” Caroline barked and pointed to the stairs. Katie rolled her eyes but obeyed. “And put on some make up!” she shook her head.
“Remind me why I let you boss me around all the time?” Katie asked from upstairs.
“Because if I didn’t you would be a hopeless mess.” Caroline answered then Katie heard Elena ask who she was talking to.
“Thanks for the pep talk.” Katie mumbled clearly not thankful.
“Hey, you asked, I answered.” Caroline replied, making Katie laugh.

“So are you ever going to talk about it?” Caroline asked Katie as they stood in Elena’s kitchen pouring chips into bowls.
“About what?” Katie asked playing stupid.
“The fact that you’re in love with two guys, one of which is a very old original vampire.” Caroline said with a smirk, not looking at Katie.
“I have talked about it and I’m over it.” Katie answered as she wadded up the chip bag and put it in the trash can.
“You’re over it?” Caroline asked with a confused shake of her head. “You don’t just get over something like that Katie.”
“Can we please just…not talk about Elijah? He’s dead, for all intents and purposes, and that chapter of my life is over.” Katie answered, getting aggravated with her friend.
“So what about Damon, are you still mad at him?” Caroline asked, still prying.
Katie let out a stressed sigh and placed her hands on the counter top. “Because I know you won’t stop prying until you get some kind of answer I will tell you that I don’t know. I haven’t spoken to him since that disaster of a dinner party.”
“Don’t you think you owe it to him to hear him out?” Caroline asked, making Katie frown because she was right. Thankfully Elena and Bonnie walked into the kitchen saving Katie from the conversation. “So, Chinese food or pizza?” Caroline asked.
“Like you have to ask.” Elena answered as she grabbed one of the bowls of chips.
“I will look it up.” Caroline said as she grabbed her tablet and started to search for the nearest pizza place, but she stopped when she saw the picture of her and Matt from founder’s day that was her background picture.
“I’ll do it.” Bonnie stepped in and gingerly took the tablet from Caroline.
“Do you believe that Jonas is being sincere?” Elena asked Bonnie as she set some cups out on the counter.
“I don’t know what to believe. I think he’s at a loss…not sure who to trust.” Bonnie answered.
“Join the club.” Elena sighed and Katie nodded.
“Well what are we going to do about this movie situation?” Caroline asked to change the subject. “What about the notebook?”
“Caroline, how many times have you seen that movie?” Elena asked, making the other girls laugh.
“That is so not the point.” Caroline argued.
“Well, yeah I mean…” Elena trailed off when Aunt Jenna walked into the room. “Hey…” she drew out the word awkwardly.
“What’s going on?” Jenna asked as she set down the coat that she’d had over her arm.
“Girls night.” Elena answered as she sat down in one of the bar stools.
“More like a pity party. We’ve all pretty much had a crap week.” Katie elaborated.
“You’ve all heard about my fight with Rick.” Jenna observed.
“He feels terrible.” Elena told her.
“Is this some sort of disguised attempt to cheer me up?” Jenna asked.
“No,” Elena answered, “this is about us girls hanging out and you know…we’ll be here if you happen to want to talk or…”
“Because I am a winner at successful relationships.” Caroline chipped in. Jenna and Caroline started talking about whether or not Alaric should tell Jenna about his past with Isobel. When things fell awkwardly quiet between them Caroline broke it. “You know what we need?” they all just looked at her. “Dancing. There is a band at the grill.” She looked at her friends for their thoughts.
They all said they were in then looked at Katie. “When was the last time you let loose and had real fun?” Bonnie asked.
“Fine. I’m in.” Katie answered with a roll of her eyes.

Katie was sitting at a table that her friends stood around, talking to Caroline about her situation with Matt, when Caroline took off her jacket and headed up on stage where the band had finished up a song. “Caroline can sing?” Katie asked Bonnie and Elena when Caroline said that she was going to sing. Bonnie and Elena watched as Caroline compelled the band to let her sing. “Whoa, she’s really good.” As Katie watched Caroline laying it all out on the table for Matt all she could think about was Damon and Elijah. Feeling on the verge of a panic attack Katie whooshed outside unseen by anyone
She had been bottling it up, not really letting anyone know how screwed up she felt inside. While she had been angry at Damon for his lies and secrets and angry at Elijah for doing this to her she hadn’t let herself feel the grief of losing Elijah or feel the hurt of Damon’s actions. It all came out a wave of tears as she pressed her back against the side of the building in the alley way. She was so wrapped up in her grief that it took a minute for the screams coming from the building to register. She was on her way to the back entrance since people were pouring out of the front one when she heard Elena calling her name. Not knowing what was going on she sped over to where she heard Elena to see that she was with Damon. “What’s going on?”
“I’ll explain later.” Damon told her and she just looked back and forth between him and Elena.
“Jonas is in there and he’s after me.” Elena told her so Katie nodded.
“What can I do to help?” Katie asked Damon with wide eyes.
“Jonas doesn’t know Elena’s out here with me. Katherine’s in there pretending to be her. You need to get in there and make sure he stays off our trail.” He told her in a rush.
“Will do.” Katie nodded then ran into the building to find sparks flying off of the busted stage lights and the bar was on fire.
“Matt no!” Caroline’s scream caught Katie’s attention and she whooshed over to see that Jonas had stabbed him in the neck with a broken bottle. She didn’t bother stopping Jonas when he ran out of the bar. Instead she went to Matt’s side across from Caroline. “Caroline, look at me.” Caroline looked up from her hand that was pressed to Matt’s neck showing the veins that were popping under her reddening eyes that mirrored her own. “Breathe. Can you do it or do I need to?”
“I can do it.” she nodded so Katie jerked her head down to Matt. Caroline made a pained sound as she bit her wrist then pressed it to Matt’s lips. “I’ve got him.”
“Are you sure?” Katie asked with wide eyes and Caroline nodded as the veins disappeared. “I’m going to go make sure the building’s clear.”
“No, the fire’s getting too big. We both need to leave now.” Caroline stopped her as she picked Matt up from the ground.
“Fine, then let’s get out of here.” Katie said with a wave to the door

After Elena and Katherine were switched back and things calmed down, Elena texted Katie letting her know that Jonas was dead leaving Bonnie without her powers. Katie had gone home, but after thinking about it for a few minutes she decided she could no longer suffer in silence.
So with a deep breath she threw her cell phone into her shoulder bag and headed to the boarding house. She didn’t bother knocking and let herself in to find Damon’s bedroom door open. Katherine, wearing a black negligee and an open black robe was laying on the bed with Damon. Katie watched as Katherine crawled up Damon like a seductress out of a romance novel. Damon grabbed her face as she was attempting to kiss him and a jealous green bubble grew in the pit of Katie’s stomach. “Katherine, there are six other bedrooms in this house. Go find one.” he shoved her face, throwing her off of him.
Damon was about to return to the book he was reading, but his eyes found Katie as she walked into the room glaring at Katherine. “Get out.”
“I turn you, and save your friend and that’s the thanks I get?” Katherine asked as she slid off the bed with a cocky look on her face then crossed her arms.
Katie hadn’t seen Katherine since she killed her and the anger that welled up in her was almost overwhelming. But she decided to be the bigger woman and walked over to her with murderous eyes. “Okay.” Katie put on a fake smile as she said, “Thank you for playing a game of switch-a-roo with Elena tonight.” She let her smile fall and went back to glaring at her. “But no matter how many good deeds you do you will always be the manipulative, skeezy bitch who took my human life and killed my unborn child.” Katherine cocked her head to the side as she glared back at Katie as if she were about to rip her head off. “Now get…out.”
“You’re lucky I like you.” Katherine told her as she pointed at her then dropped her hand as she walked out of the room.
“I like jealous Katie.” Damon told her as he set the book to the side and sat up.
“Do you have any idea how hard it was to not break her freaking neck?” she asked, making a twisting flick motion with her hands as she walked over then flopped down on her back across the foot of his bed.
“I’d pay to see that.” He commented making Katie smirk over at him, but she remembered that she was still mad at him and turned her eyes to the ceiling. “You still mad at me?” he asked, his face turning serious.
“I don’t know. You kept your plan to kill Elijah a secret from me, flat out lied to me, and in doing so caused Elijah to do exactly what he warned you he would do if you crossed him. Now the first, first love is laying in your basement with a dagger in his chest and my second first love hurt me so bad that it took my friend being in danger to even be able to look at him.” she looked over at him to see him frowning with wide eyes. “What do you think?”
His eyes turned apologetic. “I’m sorry.” Katie pursed her lips and pulled them to the side. “I knew if I told you about the dagger you’d try to stop me from using it.”
“But you didn’t know that.” Katie sat up and leaned back against the sturdy footboard. “You once again just… assumed that I would react a certain way and you once again assumed wrong.”
“So you wouldn’t have tried to stop me from killing Elijah?” he asked doubtfully as he crossed his arms over his chest.
“Before that failure of a dinner party?” she asked as she bent her knee up and rested her am on it. “No.”
“And now that you have Hannah’s memories?” he asked.
She dropped her eyes to the plush comforter and started picking at her cuticles, something she noticed she never did as Hannah. “Now I want to go down to that basement, pull the dagger out of him and kiss him.” she looked up at him, fighting her emotions that were so much more powerful now than they were when she was human. She bit her lip and shrugged not knowing what else to say.
“So what’s stopping you?” he asked with a frown and a glance at the door.
“You.” she answered and her voice didn’t waver, but Damon saw tears pooling in her eyes. “I heard Elijah when he told you that I’d forget all about you if he gave me my memories back. Obviously that’s not true…” She looked back down at her hands and started picking at a loose string in the stitching of the comforter, “Because I’m here.”
“But?” he asked and she looked up at him to see that he looked worried about what was about to come out of her mouth.
“But you and I…” she bit her lips closed and shook her head as she shrugged, “We seem to be in this cycle of I trust you…you break it, I forgive you and for about two seconds we’re happy then something happens and you break my trust again. I realize that’s over simplifying it and leaving out the elephant size mistake I made with Elijah, but…we are going to have to be a team, on the same page 24/7 or kiss our relationship goodbye.”
“Fine, then let's get on the same page.” He told her as he slid from the bed and headed for the door. “I’ll go first.”
“Where are you going?” she asked, not moving from the bed.
“I need a drink.” He answered as if it was obvious. “You comin’?”
“Yep.” She hopped off the bed and followed him to the study. He poured two glasses of bourbon then handed her one. Her eyes slid shut at the taste of the amber liquid and when she opened them as she swallowed she saw Damon smirking at her. “What?”
“Have I turned you into a bourbon girl?” he asked with a look at her glass.
“Maybe.” She answered coyly with a look down at her glass then back up at him. “You said you’d go first.”
He had opened his mouth to say something when Katherine walked in and between them to the table of decanters they stood at. “Don’t let me interrupt.” She sighed as she started picking through the crystal containers. Katie gritted her teeth and looked at Damon agitatedly. He jerked his head back toward his room. Katie grabbed the decanter of bourbon out of Katherine’s hand. “Um, hello.” She complained as Katie walked around her.
“Um, goodbye.” Katie mocked her tone. As they headed back to Damon’s room Katie refilled her glass then handed the decanter to him and made herself comfortable on his bed with her back leaned against the headboard and her bare feet crossed at the ankles. “Now…shoot.”
“I didn’t just want Elijah dead because of the whole Elena sacrifice thing. I wanted him dead because you wanted him.” he told her then took a drink.
“I told you that I didn’t want him.” she argued.
“And we both know that was a load of bull.” He argued back, making her look down at her drink. “If you didn’t want him you wouldn’t have kissed him.”
“So when I called you and you said that you weren’t mad at me for kissing him and that you understood because you’d made mistakes too…what was that? Lie number one?” she asked with creased brows.
“No I was never mad at you. I was mad at him for having so much control over you with his stupid linking spell.” He told her and she looked down at the glass in her hands that rested on her outstretched legs. “John came by after you left for the sleepover and gave me the dagger and I knew what I had to do to get you out from under his spell.” He kept placing all the blame on Elijah.
“Damon…there’s something you need to know about the linking spell.” She started, staring at her drink then paused to finish it. She looked up at him as she swallowed. “Elijah isn’t the one that had Fiona do the spell…I did it. He didn’t know that we worked the spell until Klaus killed me. If he did know he never said anything to me about it.” she slipped from the bed and refilled her glass. “So, are you still not mad at me?” she asked as she walked back over to the bed but didn’t sit down.
“I don’t know.” He answered with a far off look in his eyes. She gave him a few minutes to think about it, but when he never said anything she walked over to where the decanter was sitting on his dresser and put her glass down next to it. she was reaching for the doorknob when he whooshed over, wrapped his arm around her waist and pulled her into him. “I am not going to lose you because of a decision you made over a hundred years ago.” He told her with a stubborn look on his face as he stared into her green eyes. “You’re not walking out of this room until we are back in a good place and I’ve heard the words I forgive you come out of your mouth.”
“You think we can accomplish that in one night?” she asked knowing it was already really late.
“Yep.” He nodded and let her go.
“Okay.” She grabbed her glass and took a drink. “Then I’ll tell you that I’m sorry I didn’t tell you exactly how much of an effect Elijah had on me before the whole…makeout session behind a building thing.”
“You said you kissed him not made out with him.” he pointed at her with the hand that held his glass. “Which one was it?”
“Now you’re just trying to torture us.” Katie complained but Damon just rolled his eyes and gave her a look that told her to answer the question. “Fine if you want to know specifics…” she set her glass on the dresser and pressed her back against the wall and motioned him over with her finger.
He walked over with a smirk on his face that showed off one side of his smile lines. “What are you doing?”
“Answering your question.” She said with a shrug as she grabbed his shirt and pulled him into her. “In a way that’ll make it a little easier to swallow, so to speak.” Without warning she grabbed the back of his neck and pulled him into her, kissing him with the same genuine hunger she had felt when kissing Elijah. After making out with him for a few seconds she jumped and his hands that were already holding her by her hips pressed her harder into the wall holding her up as she wrapped her legs around him. She tilted her head to the side giving him the subtle hint that she wanted him to kiss her neck. He took it and kissed down her jaw line to her neck. If Damon had been wearing a button up shirt she would’ve started unbuttoning it, but he was wearing a black t-shirt. So instead she grabbed it and pulled it over his head. She took her hands off of him and moved her arms out to the side, pressing her palms into the cold wall behind her. "This is when I stopped him, but you are more than welcome to keep going." She whispered as the bourbon and lust mixed together to create a fun cocktail within her bloodstream.
"You're drunk." He told her between kisses.
"I’m tipsy and I've missed you." She confessed as she slid her hands up his torso then held the sides of his neck. "Going a week without sex as a vampire is excruciating."
"We're getting off topic." He sing-songed as he slid his hand down to hold her thighs making her sigh from his touch.
"Or did we find a better one?" She countered and he growled as he stepped back and let her go. "Damon." She drug out his name with whine as she watched him walk over to the bed and flop back on it, laying across the middle of it.
"You made out with him..." he complained.
"And I'm sorry." She told him as she walked over and sat down on the bed next to him. "If it makes you feel any better I hated how out of control and not myself I felt when it was happening." She told him with a hopeful tone and a cringe of a smile. He just cut his eyes over at her. “Oh and I didn’t take his shirt off. I just undid a few buttons.” She added.
“It doesn’t.” he told her then turned his eyes to the ceiling.
“Of course it doesn’t.” she sighed and fell back with her head at the head of the bad and her legs draped over his hips.
“We can’t trust each other.” He said still looking up at the ceiling with a frown on his face.
“No we can’t,” she replied looking up at the ceiling as she crossed her arms over her chest. “but I want to.” Neither of them said anything and thanks to the fact that she had abandoned her bourbon glass she was starting to sober up and she figured he was too. She thought about why Damon killed Elijah and kept the dagger a secret from her. It was selfish of him, killing Elijah so he could keep her for himself, but she was also being selfish for wanting Elijah to stay daggered so that she could be with Damon without the linking spell constantly putting stress on their relationship. “I forgive you.”
Damon looked over at her with furrowed brows. “What?”
“I forgive you.” she repeated herself.
“Are you just saying that so you can leave?” he asked and she shook her head.
“No.” she told him with a small shake of her head. “And I hope you will one day forgive me for what I’m about to say.” Damon sat up and looked at her with wide worried eyes. “This link…will always be there. Even if we get back together…somebody is bound to pull that dagger out and when they do the switch will get flipped and once again old feelings will resurface and we’ll just end up right back where we are right now.”
“So you’re just gonna give up on us?” he asked with a frown.
“No…I’m saving you from a lifetime of misery…from always wondering if I’m going to be drawn back to him.” she argued then slid from the bed and headed for the door.
He whooshed in front of her. “Not happening.”
“Damon.” She sighed and dropped her eyes to the floor.
“We’re stronger than any magic link will ever be and I refuse to let you walk out that door.” He did his eye thing with a flick of his brows as he said the word refuse.
“So what?” she asked with a shrug of her shoulders. “We just forgive each other, get back together and pretend that we trust each other?”
“No. We get back together and learn to trust each other.” he told her with eyes that bore into hers. “Because I’ll be damned if I’m going to lose this.” He grabbed the back of her head and pressed his lips to hers, catching her bottom lip between his.
She knew it would be pointless to try to walk away from Damon. No matter how dysfunctional they were, they kept ending up together. So she jumped and wrapped her legs around him. He held her face in his hands, kissing her as he carried her over to his bed and laid her down.
TVDTVDTVD
“So did I miss anything in my week of moping?” Katie asked from where she laid under the comforter with her head on Damon’s shoulder.
“We figured out how Elijah and his witch buddies were planning on killing Klaus.” He answered and Katie rolled onto her stomach and propped her head up with her elbows and hands to look at him. “He was looking for where a bunch of witches were burned. If he found it he was going to have Jonas absorb all the power they left behind and take Klaus down while he was weak.”
“Do we know where they were burned?” she asked curiously.
He nodded his head yes, but sighed and said, “nope.” He grabbed his phone out of his pants on the floor and typed a message. “I found in a Gilbert journal that Emily was burned where those witches were burned. I know where Emily was burned.”
“Well that sucks.” Katie sighed and rolled back over, playing along because Katherine was probably listening in.
“Yep.”

Jungkook -- Taehyung -- Jimin -- Namjoon -- Hoseok -- Jin
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Min Yoongi considered himself a simple kind of man.
He was fortunate and grew up in a loving family, he had a few close friends that he could always depend on, and he loved music.
Yoongi enjoyed simplicity. He didn’t mind spontaneity or partying in other people, but that lifestyle just didn’t interest him.
For his entire life all Yoongi dreamed about was opening up his own music shop. A place where people could come and find any sort of music that touched their soul.
That was his dream. Simple, to the point, and attainable.
So by the time his twentieth birthday had rolled around, Yoongi had worked tons of part time and random side jobs for five years and saved every single penny, and was able to buy the space. He was still in university, still a teenager, but he’d been smart enough and worked hard enough to make wise choices to realize his dream.
And all that hard work was finally paying off.
“Alright Mr. Min, here are the keys,” said the realtor of the empty space that would soon be Yoongi’s store. “Congratulations on your new property!”
Yoongi thanked the realtor, walking her out to the door and seeing her out. He turned back to look at his family and friends who had joined him for the occasion.
He held up the keys to his store and grinned. “I did it.”
His mother squealed, rushing forward and hugging him tightly around the neck. The others that had amassed followed suit, his father and brother embracing him tightly, some of his buddies from high school, and his new friend from university that was just a year younger than him that he had met at the tiny on-campus record store (she’d been buying a Jonas Brothers album and he’d only slightly been judging her).
“I’m proud of you, son,” his father said sincerely.
“Oh my boy is so grown up,” his mother added, hugging him for what felt like the millionth time.
Yoongi just chuckled, returning the embrace tightly. “I wouldn’t be here without you all. Thank you.” He bowed deeply.
“It’s a big day for you Yoongs,” his university friend said as she jumped up on the counter behind her. “It’s your birthday, the day you buy your shop, and your soulmark should be appearing any second.”
Yoongi narrowed his eyes, making his friend laugh. He had been hoping to avoid the topic of his soulmark in front of his parents, something she knew quite well. He needed to keep this in mind for whenever she got her soulmark.
“Oh, yes!” his mother squealed, checking the time. “You were born around 12:14. Oh, I can’t wait to meet my boy’s soulmate.”
Yoongi scrunched his nose as his mother pinched his cheeks. “The mark doesn’t tell me when I’m going to meet her, Eomma.”
“Yes but still!”
“It should be showing up now,” his brother remarked casually.
“Oh, let me look!”
Yoongi just sighed as his mother took his left hand and held the inside of his wrist up to her face. She cocked her head to the side in confusion.
“Who’s Kanye West?” she asked innocently, mispronouncing the rapper’s first name.
Yoongi’s friends and brother burst out laughing.
“Aw Yoongs, don’t tell me you’re stealing Kim’s man!” his friend shouted, leaning against his brother as she cackled.
“Shut up,” he muttered, pulling his hand away and looking at the mark himself.
There is black ink was his mark, the first words his soulmate would ever say to him.
‘I’ve actually never listened to Kanye West.’
Well. That was … surprising.
At his friends urging, Yoongi repeated the words.
“Who hasn’t listened to Kanye West?” his brother mused. “Seriously, does your soulmate live under a rock or something?”
“Well at least we know you two will have to work on finding common ground,” his friend cut in.
It was well known that Yoongi’s favorite artist was Kanye. Strange that his soulmate would have never listened to him.
Yoongi just shrugged. “That’s fine. I can introduce her to him. She can introduce me to her interests, too.”
His friends and brother ‘awwww’ed.
“Ack, shut up.”
***
You considered yourself a simple kind of girl.
You were raised by a single mother, but your childhood had been filled with joy. You enjoyed fashion, had a soft heart for all animals, and you loved music.
You had only been six years old when your mother enrolled you in a piano class, and even though you cried terribly when she left you at the strange new place for an hour, by the time the first class was over you were asking if you could come back the next day.
That was the first time you discovered that music ran through your veins. Emotions that your six-year old brain didn’t know how to process yet suddenly made more sense when you heard that emotion being played on the piano or sang in the most beautiful way.
Music became your life, and your mother did everything in her power to give you opportunities to pursue your dream. When you entered high school you were gifted a scholarship to attend an arts conservatory, which is where your talent really started to reach new heights.
Soon you were being scouted for various university music programs and you even received a few invitations to join symphonies around the country.
The world was your oyster, anywhere you wanted to with the piano, you could have gone.
But … you were a simple kind of girl.
Sure, traveling the world and playing alongside some of the biggest names in the music world would be great, but it just wasn’t for you.
You didn’t want to move away from your mother. You didn’t need fame or recognition.
All you wanted was to be with those you loved, play the piano, and share your love of music with others.
So that’s what you did. You respectfully turned down all the wonderful offers that had been sent your way, hoping and praying that the opportunities would go to people who craved and deserved them more than you.
After graduation you enrolled in a small online university where you earned your Associate’s Degree in business relatively quickly. You moved out of your mother’s house to an apartment complex near to her, but not so near that you didn’t have that sense of independence you wanted. And you started to teach.
You never would have guessed that teaching piano would have brought you such fulfillment, but it turned out to be one of the greatest sources of joy in your life.
Sure, there were kids who hated the instrument and were just there because their parents made them, but there were also the children who you saw so much of yourself in. You saw the joy and the emotional realizations on their faces as they played, the excitement when the notes started to click in their minds.
It was one of the most fulfilling aspects of your life.
And this is what you were talking about with your closest friend/roommate on your twentieth birthday as you waited for your soulmark to appear.
“She’s an absolute genius, I swear,” you said to your friend, who was listening with a grin. “She’s only eight years old and she’ll be able to outplay me soon.”
“Oh I doubt that.”
“No, seriously!” You took a sip of your wine, throwing your blanket over your cold feet. “She’s phenomenal. I’m helping her parents look into some scholarship for an arts school. Gah, she’s so good. But anyways, I’m sorry, I keep talking about me.”
“It’s your birthday!” your roommate argued, pouring herself another drink. “And your soulmark day for crying out loud, you’re allowed to talk about yourself.”
“Yeah but what about you?” you pushed. “How are things going at the shelter?”
Your roommate was a few years older than you and waited tables, but spent her free time volunteering at an animal shelter just down the road — that was actually where the two of you had met.
“Really good, actually!” she said, sitting up straighter and proceeding to tell you about the shelter’s new initiative to get all of the stray cats adopted by Christmastime.
Before you knew it, a half hour and another bottle of wine had passed and it was almost time for your soulmark to appear.
“What do you think it will say?” your roommate asked, waggling her eyebrows at you.
You laughed, stroking the still blank skin on the inside of your left wrist. “I don’t know. As long as it’s nice, I don’t care.”
Your roommate stiffened and you immediately realized your mistake.
“Oh, I’m sorry, I — I wasn’t even thinking.”
“It’s fine, it’s fine,” she assured you, biting her lip as she looked down at her own wrist.
(You hadn’t met your roommate yet when her soulmark had appeared, but the ink on her wrist read. ‘Do you have any idea who I am, you psycho?’ You had assured her that whenever she met her soulmate, the context of the situation would make the comment much less cruel, but she rarely believed you.)
“Tonight’s not about my mark,” your roommate said with a forced smile. “It’s about yours! How much time left?”
You checked your watch. “Uh, any second now actually.”
Your roommate squealed and scooted closer to you, both of you staring at your wrist as light music played in the background.
You let out a heavy breath as black ink slowly started to appear.
“There it is, there it is,” your roommate chanted excitedly
And sure enough, there it was.
‘Hi, welcome to Agust D’s Records, I’m Yoongi.’
“Well then,” your roommate deadpanned. “That makes it … pretty clear.”
You stared at your wrist silently, mouth open like a fish. A dumbfounded, overwhelmed fish.
“Yoongi,” you whispered after a few uncomfortably long, silent seconds. “His name is Yoongi.”
“Well where the hell is this Agust D’s Records place?” your roommate mused, whipping out her phone to search for the store. “We’ve got to go there ASAP.”
“This is so weird,” you murmured to yourself. “I … I don’t really know how to feel. I mean, I can find him like … anytime at all.”
“Yeah you really lucked out,” your roommate responded. “No mystery for you. And look here.” You leaned over to look at her phone. “The store is only a few miles from us. We can go see him tomorrow!”
Your heart seemed to seize in your chest.
“Or not!” your roommate said quickly upon seeing your panicked expression. “You can go see him whenever you want, it is completely up to you. If you want me to go with, I will, but I also understand if you want to go by yourself. The ball is in your court, Y/N.”
You gulped, resting your head on her shoulder.
“Yoongi,” you repeated dumbly as your roommate stroked your hair. “His name is Yoongi.”
***
2 YEARS LATER
“Okay I’m just saying to consider it, Yoongs.”
“Don’t call me that,” Yoongi muttered, glaring over at his best friend as he reorganized the Beatles section that a bunch of high school punks had put out of place. “Tell me again why you’re bothering me instead of doing your job that I so graciously pay you to do?”
His friend scoffed, sitting down on the ground and leaning back on her palms. “It’s a genius idea and you know it. The store is doing great, and your brother is more than ready to take over as manager here. This is the perfect time to look into opening a new branch!”
“I’m perfectly content with just one store for now. Why are you so hung up on this?”
“I just have this feeling, Yoongs,” she continued. Yoongi watched as she leaned forward, subconsciously rubbing her soulmark that she’d received only half a year ago. It wasn’t much to see, just a simple ‘No.’ “I feel like we’re meant to move into the city proper and open a new branch. I just know it.”
“Oh you do?”
“Yeah,” she retorted, passion lighting up in her eyes. “Don’t you feel like the universe is all connected sometime? Like … like we’re all causing ripples in a pond that overlap with each other exactly like we’re meant to. And I just feel it in my bones that we’re meant to expand the store! We’re not supposed to keep making our ripples here forever!”
Yoongi sighed, looking down at her with sympathy. “Look. I’ll be honest with you, your idea is a good one. But,” he said quickly when she started to beam, “I don’t think it’s the right time just yet. Let me think about it some more and look over our finances. Let’s not rush into our ripples before we’re supposed to okay?”
His friend grinned, nodding and jumping up to hug him tightly. “That was a pretty good metaphor, don’t you think?”
“No, it was stupid. Now go man the register and leave me alone.”
“Love you too, Yoongs!”
“And stop calling me that!”
Yoongi rolled his eyes as his friend disappeared around the corner of the aisle he was on. He loved that girl, but she drove him insane. He hoped his soulmate wasn’t so extra, he was pretty sure he could only handle one overly dramatic person in his life.
It’d been just over two years since his soulmark had shown up, and he had yet to hear the words on his wrist. At first he used to try and find ways to bring up Kanye West to every customer that caught his eye, but that got exhausting and disappointing really quick.
So he decided to just let it be. His soulmate would show up when they were supposed to.
“Yoongs. Psst, Yoongs.”
“Did I not just tell you to go man the register?” Yoongi asked in exasperation as his friend popped her head around the corner yet again. “What is it?”
“She’s back,” she said with wide eyes. “That girl.”
“What girl?”
His friend rolled her eyes and huffed. “Don’t play dumb, you know which girl.”
Yoongi swallowed. He did know which girl she was referring to, he had known right away.
You started coming into the shop about a year ago, and he had been struck right away. It had been a particularly rainy day, and your hair had been dripping onto your shoulders, making the green of your sweater look particularly dark. He had introduced himself to you like every other customer (albeit his voice had cracked because you were staring at him with the prettiest, widest eyes he had ever seen), but you had only nodded at him politely and skittered away to look at some of the ukuleles he had just put on display.
He didn’t think much of it. Maybe you were shy, or maybe you couldn’t speak. He didn’t want to make any assumptions, so he just carried on with his business and rang you up for the Demi Lovato CD you bought, giving you the usual speech on the music classes and membership opportunities the store offered. You had smiled, nodded yet again, and then went on your way silently.
That had been a year ago, and since then you had been coming into the shop at least once a week, but nary a word had been said to him.
It only somewhat drove him crazy. For a while he believed that perhaps you couldn’t speak, but then he heard you ask his brother a question about the piano classes that the shop offered.
So you could speak, you just didn’t want to speak to him. Great.
His best friend had a theory that it was because you were his soulmate, but Yoongi didn’t think that could be true even though he had never seen your mark. You had bought two Kanye West records in the last year, and when he’d asked if you enjoyed Kanye’s music you had looked up at him a little scared and nodded hurriedly before darting out of the shop.
Still not a word though.
It was strange, but Yoongi had decided not to dwell on it any longer. You clearly didn’t want to speak to him for some reason, but you were polite enough and always bought something from the store — whether it was a record, sheet music, a CD, or some of the local band merch that filtered through every now and then.
You were a loyal customer, just … a quiet one. Fine by him.
“Dude, let it go,” Yoongi muttered to his friend as she continued to stare at him like he ought to do something drastic with this information that you were once again at the store. “And leave her alone, too. She doesn’t need the likes of you bothering her to talk to me.”
“The likes of me?” his friend shouted incredulously. “Brat. Anyways, I still think you should go say hello to her. She’s always watching you when you’re not looking. And not in a stalker way, but a cute, infatuated way. Go say hi.”
“Go man the register.”
“Ugh, fine!”
He couldn’t help but chuckle as his friend left with a dramatic huff. A minute or two passed and he finally finished reorganizing the section, heading around the corner to grab a box of some new records to stock.
Then he saw you.
He couldn’t help but stop dead in his tracks. You hadn’t seem him yet, instead looking down at the new piano that had just come into the store yesterday. Your mouth was slightly open as you ran your fingertips over the keys almost … reverently. Your eyes were bright with wonder and Yoongi felt like the breath had been knocked out of him at the sight.
It was a damn shame that he didn’t think you were his soulmate.
He swallowed, licking his suddenly dry lips as he readied himself to speak to you.
***
“That just came in yesterday.”
You jumped at Yoongi’s familiar voice, yanking your hand back from the keys of the absolutely stunning piano. You looked over, swallowing thickly as you took in his appearance.
He always looked good and today was of course no different. He had dyed his hair blonde a few months ago, and his roots had started to come in, but that only added to his semi-grunge look. Ripped jeans and a cuddle-worthy brown sweater donned his slim frame, and you somehow managed not to ogle him like a total creeper.
You then remembered that he had just spoken to you in that low, smooth voice of his and was probably expecting you to respond somehow.
You smiled at him briefly before turning back to the piano to admire it. It really was beautiful.
“It’s a Bechstein,” he continued, sounding almost … nervous? “Twelve years used, but it’s in great condition. One of our regulars had it passed down in his family and decided to let us have it for half the selling the price. It’s no Steinway, but … it’s damn nice. I almost hope nobody buys it anytime soon.”
You couldn’t help but hum in agreement, wanting to reach back out to the beautiful black and white keys but knowing that you weren’t supposed to play the instruments without express permission from the store staff.
You’d been coming to the store for a year now to shamelessly creep on your soulmate, you definitely knew the ins and outs of the store by now.
It was getting downright ridiculous the way that you were refusing to speak to your soulmate. Your roommate was going insane about it, even more so since she met her soulmate, Taehyung. She and the famous singer had almost killed each other upon first meeting, but they were head over heels for each other soon thereafter, which meant she was insistent on you speaking to yours so you could have the same kind of relationship.
But you were painfully afraid. Yoongi had said the words on your mark to him a year ago and you still had not said whatever words were on his wrist — words that you refused to try and get a peek of.
“Do you play?”
It took you a minute to register that Yoongi had just asked you a question. You met his piercing eyes, almost melting at his soft smile. You swallowed and nodded.
“I figured,” he said softly, moving slightly closer to you. You raised an eyebrow at him as if to ask ‘how?’ “The way you looked at it. Like you could already hear the notes you wanted to play.”
Your heart stuttered.
Say something you idiot, you thought to yourself. He’s your soulmate and you’re pussyfooting around as if he isn’t.
You opened your mouth to say something — what, you didn’t know — and Yoongi’s eyes widened.
And nothing came out. Fear gripped your vocal cords and you huffed, turning back to the piano in frustration. What was wrong with you?
You heard Yoongi sigh in disappointment and all you wanted to do was run out of the store. You were just about to to do that when he spoke up again.
“Do you … want to play something?”
You looked up at him in shock. He was offering to let you play the Bechstein? There had been both a Bechstein and a Steinway for you to play on at the arts conservatory you attended as a teenager, but ever since then you hadn’t had a chance to play on anything other than your Yamaha. It was nice, but … it was no Bechstein.
Yoongi laughed as you nodded frantically. He gestured for you to sit and you took a deep breath, steeling yourself to focus on the piano and not your soulmate watching you.
The first touch of the keys had the rest of the world disappearing — Yoongi, the shop, your worries, everything.
Your fingers drifted over the keys with a honed elegance that only a lifetime of practice and love for the piano could create.
It was a piece you knew like the back of your hand — a piece you had written, actually. The notes ebbed and flowed, painting a melodious picture of your life. You played the sounds of your mother’s love and dedication for you, you played the anxieties of high school and the competitiveness of your music program, you played the joy of teaching your students, you played late nights with your roommate laughing about the most random things together, you played the feeling of Yoongi saying the words on your wrist to you, you played your fear of revealing yourself as his soulmate and facing rejection, you played your very soul.
As the last note finally rang out, you opened your eyes, your lashes fluttering as you crashed back into reality.
You heard a few random customers and Yoongi’s chatty employee clapping and whistling and you couldn’t help but grin and turn around, bowing your head in thanks. You turned back to look at Yoongi, only to catch sight of him staring intently at your hands that were still lingering on the piano.
Or more specifically, staring at your left wrist.
Somewhere in the middle of all of playing, your long sleeve had ridden up your forearm, revealing your mark. And from where he stood over you, Yoongi could see the last half of the words in black ink.
‘ … Agust D’s Records, I’m Yoongi.’
You froze. All of the warmth that came from playing the piano before you vanished as you took in the expression of complete and utter shock on Yoongi’s face.
“That’s …” he mumbled, blinking rapidly. “That’s my name.”
You weren’t sure you were breathing. He finally looked up, meeting your eyes.
“Am I …” he trailed off, staring at you like it was the first time he’d ever seen you. Between your performance that had felt like it was literally tugging on his soul, to now knowing that you actually were his soulmate after all … “Am I your—”
“I’ve actually never listened to Kanye West,” you blurted out so quickly all the words slurred together.
Once those words were out, it was like a dam had broken.
“I got my mark just over a year ago,” you continued, the word vomit spilling out of you. “It told me where you worked and your name a-and I was so scared at first but then I told myself it would be fine so I came to meet you, but then I saw you and I — I completely panicked. I froze up, I was afraid you would reject me o-or something and so I just didn’t say anything. But then I couldn’t stay away and so I just kept coming back, but then I dug myself into too deep of a hole and didn’t know how to bring up the fact that ‘hey, surprise, I’m your soulmate and I’ve been semi-stalking you for a while?’ Not that I actually have! I swear, the only time I see you is here in the store.”
You stood up them, fidgeting with your fingers as Yoongi continued to stare at you in silence.
“But I had to have some sort of reason to keep coming back, because I just felt wrong when I stayed away, so I would come in and buy something. And I saw that on the ‘staff recommended’ shelf there was always some Kanye West album and truthfully, I’m not that into rap music but I figured I would try since you seem to like him, but I never got around to it even though I bought like three of his albums. And I know you probably think I’m completely deranged and you’re probably right, but I just — I get really nervous, you know? And you’re so nice and yet we seem really different, so I was afraid that you—”
“Stop.”
You froze, your mouth open as Yoongi cut you off quietly, holding his hand up.
Here it comes, you thought to yourself. He’s going to tell me I’m completely insane and to get the hell out of his store. Well, it’s been a good run I guess.
But Yoongi didn’t do that at all.
Instead, he took three calculated, slow steps forward until he was right in front of you, almost chest-to-chest. You held your breath, unable to look away from his eyes.
He raised his hands, placing his palms on your cheeks.
“Your voice,” he murmured, “is beautiful.”
Oh.
“I … I’m sorry it took me so long to say something,” you stammered out softly, feeling a whole new spectrum of emotions as he looked deep into your eyes.
Yoongi smiled then, a gummy, broad smile that knocked the breath right out of your chest.
“Don’t be. Our ripples crossed right when they needed to.”
You blinked, hands reaching out to rest on his chest. “I’ll be honest, I … don’t really understand that metaphor.”
“I’ll explain it later. I know we just officially found each other, but can I kiss you? Please?”
You smiled broadly, and it didn’t bother Yoongi at all that you nodded instead of speaking.
Today’s short ramble fic brought to you by my thinking about Koren and Theron back during the class stories, shortly after they had broken up because of work pulling them in separate directions. This takes place during chap 1 of the BH class story, before Tatooine but after DK, back when they were still pulling each other out of the fire on occasion.
Hope you all enjoy! :3
-
He was in a tough spot, to say the least. Theron grunted in pain as he shoved the door open enough that he could squeeze through. His right arm was dislocated at the shoulder, his implants were fried, and his nose was broken. That likely wasn’t the full extent of his injuries, but it was the most immediate of them at the moment. He cursed his luck as his comm beeped an incoming call. Such terrible timing.
Ignoring the pinging device, the spy sprinted down the hallway. He didn’t have time to see to the dislocation properly so he yanked off his jacket as best he could and used it to brace the wounded arm to him for the time being. He’d worry about it as soon as he was safe for more than a few seconds.
The lights of the hall flickered on, the power to the station cycling and restarting and he quickened his pace. The pinging continued and finally, Theron grabbed the device, debated on just tossing it to use as a distraction, but ended up answering it instead. Without his implants working the comm was his only way to get contact off the station. The red emergency lights flickered and shifted to the blinding white as the station finished it’s reboot as he hit the button and shouted at his comm.
“Now’s not a great time!” He ground out as he banked down a hall and headed to where the shuttle bay was located.
“So you don’t want a rescue I take it?” The voice on the other side hummed.
“Kor?” Theron practically squeaked the nickname out as he nearly slammed his head on a barrel of a blaster as the door in front of him opened. Dashing to the side and dodging the shot the spy scrambled away before continuing. “Wha- Where are you?”
“About to land, hopefully. Mako is trying to get the blast doors open, so get ready to hop on as soon as we get in.”
“Do I want to know how you knew where I was?”
Koren laughed, a sound that the spy had honestly missed. “Jonas.” He answered simply. “I’ll give you the full details as soon as your safe, Shey’s already prepping the med bay since knowing you you’re gonna need some patching up.”
“Am I still that predictable?” Theron glanced up as he slid into cover, watching the blast doors open. The sounds of alarm around him let him know that he was now the lesser of the two issues the station was now facing.
The rumble of engines was what he heard before the Mantis landed in the middle of the bay, ramp descending. Taking that as his cue to make himself scarce Theron ran for the ship. A woman stood on the ramp, taking shots at the enemy and covering for him as he ran up and into the open door.
“Sorry to crash your party.” She said as she followed after him and closed the door. Hitting the comm she shouted. “Alright Kor, he’s on, let’s get outta here.”
“Already on it Shey.” He returned as the ship’s engines revved and Theron could feel lift off as the woman led him further in.
“You’re a friend of Kor right?” She smiled at him, the red jacket and lipstick she wore standing out on her almost ghostly pale skin and hair. “I’m Shey, one of the team. The other is in the pit with him right now.”
“Theron.” He introduced. “I appreciate the save.”
“Did you think I wouldn’t show?” Koren grinned, leaning on the hand railing above.
Theron chuckled, “I didn’t know you were coming honestly. Might’ve made sure to grab a few more party favors if I had.”
“Ah, I’m sure you’ll make it up to me somehow.” The merc chuckled as he headed down the stairs. As soon as he stepped up to the spy he tsked, “You’re a mess.”
“The party got a little rowdy.”
“So I see, let’s get you patched up.” He urged him forward before turning his attention to Shey a moment. “Can you help Mako with the jump to Coruscant? Use the landing codes that are logged under Kole.”
“Sure thing.” She said as she headed up to the cockpit.
“Didn’t think you had landing codes for Republic planets.” Theron huffed a laugh as he sat on the padded table that lay on the far side of the med bay, letting Koren remove his jacket and shirt to tend to his wounds.
“I don’t, but my brothers do.” Koren hurried around the room retrieving various supplies and deposited them next to his ex. “Perks of being an identical brother of not one, but two, Jedi that are apparently well regarded in the Republic.” He grabbed Theron’s arm with one hand and braced the other on his back. “This is gonna hurt.” He warned.
Bracing himself, Theron bit back a shout as his arm was pushed back into the socket. Even though he grumbled in pain he held as still as possible as Koren worked, taping his shoulder for support and then went to tend the remaining injuries, saving the implant for last.
“Still no plans to come back to the Republic?” Theron asked as the pain subsided, replaced by a warm numbness from the anesthetic that the merc rubbed on the wounded shoulder.
“Not at present.” Koren glanced at him before returning his focus to his work. “I’m technically MIA, and you know I make a poor excuse of a Jedi.”
“I’m sure whoever would end up your master wouldn’t appreciate you puking whenever you use the Force.” Theron joked, earning a quiet laugh.
The familiarity between them was something he had missed. It had been a few months since they had broken up, his work with the SIS and Koren’s with the job this ‘Braden’ had offered taking them in different directions. But that he didn’t lose a friend in the process was nice.
“I’m sure my brothers are making enough trouble in the order without me anyway.” Koren stepped away to grab some more supplies, these more geared for cybernetics.
“Have the panic attacks gotten better?”
The merc paused a moment, taking a heavy breath, and returning to continue tending to Theron’s wounds. “No. And please don’t mention them to the other two.”
“They don’t know?” The spy winced as Koren cleaned and stitched a particularly deep gash on his arm.
“I haven’t mentioned it. They know I’m Force-sensitive, but that’s it. They don’t need to know the rest.”
“They’re your team, Kor. What if-” Theron watched him worriedly.
“They don’t need to know,” Koren repeated. “I made mistakes and I don’t need anyone to clean up after me, you know that.”
“Doesn’t mean you shouldn’t have someone looking out for you.”
The merc grinned, “That’s what I have you for isn’t it?” At the slight look of surprise on his friend’s face, he chuckled. “I know you’ve been tracking me. And I’m pretty sure the cover-up from the last job I took was done by you and not Kody.”
Theron laughed, “I was trying to be sneaky. Besides, I know that the Jedi that gave those troopers on Balmorra a run for their credits was you.”
“See, we both have someone looking out for us. Don’t need to involve anyone else.” Koren pulled up a chair and urged Theron to turn his head as he poked at the devices implanted around Theron’s eye. “Just going to give these a quick restart. I know the SIS wouldn’t want me messing with them.”
Theron hummed, closing his eyes and letting him work. It was a shame that he still refused to return to the Republic, but if he was being honest with himself he was also glad he didn’t. Koren seemed happier like this. He was a combat medic and preferred to stay neutral so traveling the stars as part of a team of bounty hunters suited him more than the spy would admit.
Maybe one day they’d be on the same team again, be able to grab a drink, and talk about their adventures without worrying that either could be at risk. Maybe they’d both meet someone new, have someone else to look out for them when they got in over their heads. But until then they had each other, and Theron would do everything in his power to keep his friend safe just as he knew Koren would do the same for him.
Those Who Fall: “APTF” Story (Modern Domestic Stucky AU)
Thirty:
"Papa?"
With heavy eyelids, Steve squinted into the darkness. He was in bed, but he didn't remember getting there. Momentarily paranoid until he felt Bucky's sleeping frame beside him. A small hand shook his arm, and Steve cautiously peeked in the direction. Finding Sophia instead ghost children, he asked, "Everything okay?"
Clutching her stuffed bear, she shook her head, "I had a bad dream."
Steve scrubbed his hand over his face and went to take the little girl back to her bed, but she stopped him, "Can I stay here with you and daddy? Please?"
Even if her lower lip wasn't quivering and even if her eyes weren't glinting with unshed tears, Steve would've moved closer to Bucky's side and pulled back the covers for her. With a small smile, Sophia climbed into the king size bed. Facing Steve, she curled up against his body. As she wrapped her arms around Steve's bare torso, he kissed her forehead and smoothed her silky black hair away from her face.
"Wanna tell me about it?" Steve asked as he soothingly rubbed her back.
Sophia shook her head and moved closer to Steve.
"Okay, sweetie," Steve yawned and tried to get comfortable again in between two very warm-bodied people and under a thick comforter.
Sophia nuzzled closer and Steve kept smoothing her hair. Softly, Sophia asked, "Sing me a song, papa?"
Around another yawn, Steve nodded. Kissing her forehead again, Steve went for his go-to and softly complied, "'You are my sunshine, my only sunshine. You make me happy when skies are gray. You'll never know dear, how much I love you. Please don't take my…'"
Eyes snapping open, he continued, "'Sunshine away,'" only to find that Sophia was no longer in bed with him and neither was Bucky. Further evaluating the master bedroom, Steve found light peeking in through the curtains. Glancing at the alarm clock on his bedside table, Steve found it read: 10:30, which meant that he slept in longer than he had meant to.
Forcing himself out of bed, Steve made his way to the ensuite. Quickly taking care of his morning business. Once done, he slipped on his rings and entered the closet to dress for the day. Since they were going to the orchard to do the typical autumn activities, Steve pulled on a pair of jeans and a plain maroon sweatshirt.
As he made his way for the stairs, he heard commotion in the garage and changed his course. Stepping into the garage, Steve found Bucky up in the loft handing Jonas some of the outdoor Halloween decorations. With the pair in the middle of a conversation, Steve stayed at the open doorway; not wanting to interrupt them.
"It was terrible!" Jonas groaned in embarrassment, "I'll be surprised if she talks to me ever again."
"Trust me, if pops could not only agree to dating me, but marry me after everything that I did," Bucky huffed out a laugh, "You're fine."
"You think?" Jonas asked, sounding hopeful.
"Positive."
Just as Steve was about to turn and go back into the house, Jonas questioned, "How did you ask pops out?"
And Steve just had to hear what his husband had to say.
"Well," Bucky panted from moving the decorations from the loft to the edge where Jonas could reach them, "It was a bunch of double dates. Of course, pops doesn't count those."
Steve rolled his eyes at that. Of course, he didn't count those! The pair had been coupled with girls, not each other, for sobbing out loud! And the one time that Steve had been coupled with a boy, it was all a ruse for Bucky to see what Steve liked in a partner. Which was ridiculous considering Steve didn't have a type until he met Bucky and his soul went, oh, yes, we like him. This is our person.
Bucky clarified, "We had a night in. Where we watched horror movies that scared the ever-loving shit out of me, but I chose because I knew how much your father loves them --"
Steve found it funny that Bucky left out the part that he cozied up to him the entire time.
"-- and then we spent the rest of the night… making out."
Steve smiled at the memory and nearly laughed out loud when Jonas complained, "I really didn't need to know that, dad."
"Sorry, not sorry," Bucky chuckled.
Deciding to make his presence known before Bucky could traumatize their child any further, Steve walked around the corner and smiled, "What's going on out here."
"Figured we could decorate before it starts getting too cold," Bucky answered while Jonas mocked, "Grossing me out."
Playfully, Bucky rolled his eyes at that and asked Steve, "How'd you sleep?"
"Fine," Steve shrugged.
"Wish I could sleep that well," Jonas wistfully commented and teased, "You passed out before we even got home."
"I was tired," Steve defended himself while Bucky joked, "I'm just glad that he eventually stopped snoring."
Steve rolled his eyes and blew a raspberry at them both before turning to head back into the house. As he climbed the stairs, he could vaguely hear music just barely beneath the laughter and conversations. It really shouldn't have been a surprise when he saw almost all of the kids in the kitchen.
What was a surprise though was when he found Tibby there, too. Shimmying her shoulders to make Holly, in her highchair, laugh. There was small pumpkin pancakes on the chair's tray that Holly was slowly eating. Meanwhile, Luke was at the stove icing a tray of cooling cinnamon rolls and Katie was removing another batch from the top wall oven.
Grabbing Tibby's hand, Ethan danced to the music and giggled when she twirled him around. Bringing Steve back to the early days when Tibby was still a kid. Hoping that his kids would remember and cherish these moments in their lives. Hoping that these memories could take the place of all the ones filled with hurt and fear. Replace them with happiness and moments where they knew they were loved.
"You're up!" Tibby greeted.
Steve nodded giving a silent, obviously, as Luke said, "Might wanna tell Dad."
Brows furrowing, Steve asked, "Why?"
"He was worried," Katie answered, removing the cinnamon rolls from the lower wall oven.
"Of course, he was," Steve rolled his eyes and further entered the kitchen.
Luke scoffed, "I mean, he did have to carry you to bed last night."
Blushing, Steve waved the hidden concern off. Not wanting to worry his children. Not any of them, but especially not the younger ones. Instead, Steve distracted himself.
At the table, Sophia was sitting, coloring a picture of a cat in a pumpkin patch at night. Steve smiled and pressed a kiss to the top of her head as he praised, "That's really pretty, sweetie."
"Thank you," Sophia tilted her head back to beam up at Steve.
Tucking her long hair behind her ear, he offered, "We can even hang it up, if you want to."
"Hmm," Sophia's expression twisted into one of thought, and sighed, "I'll think about it."
"Okay," Steve agreed, giving her forehead a kiss.
As Steve turned back around, he noticed that someone was missing, "Where's Wanda?"
"Oh," Katie scrunched her nose the way she always did when she felt guilty and admitted, "In the bathroom sick. She got one whiff of my body wash and barely made it to the toilet."
"Poor thing," Tibby shook her head, all the while swinging Ethan around like he was a rag doll.
"What body wash?" Steve's brows furrowed, hoping that it wasn't the seasonal one that he gifted her in the care package. Especially since he had gifted the same one to Wanda and he would feel positively awful if that was the reason why she had morning sickness every day.
Turning the ovens off, Katie said, "The one with rose oil that we got over the summer. It's the one that I left here."
Crossing the kitchen to the fridge where a ghost post-it note was located, Steve added to the list of:
NO MORE celery/celery salt cucumber pickles bananas rose oil
Putting the pen back in its place, Wanda joined the group with a sheepish smile on her face while she rubbed her protruding abdomen. It seemed like her bump was growing more and more every day. Almost outgrowing the outfits that they had bought just a week ago.
Steve paused, had it only been a week? Steve just couldn't believe it. Wanda fit in so well with them that he could barely remember what their lives had been like before she entered it. And now, Steve couldn't imagine a life where she wasn't a part of their family.
"Well, this certainly smells better," Wanda commented, holding her lower back, "I'm so hungry, I think I could eat a horse."
"Why would you want to eat a horse?" Ethan asked.
"It's just a saying, honey," Steve explained, "It means that you're really hungry."
"Oh," the little boy contemplated and climbed up on one of the stools, "Then, I want to eat a horse, too."
Shaking his head, Steve chuckled, "How about we have some cinnamon rolls instead."
"Pumpkin cinnamon rolls," Luke corrected, washing his hands.
"Even better," Steve grinned.
HSMTMTS Thoughts Episode 9
Episode 1 Episode 2 Episode 3 Episode 4 Episode 5 Episode 6 Episode 7 Episode 8
(~1200 words)
Oh my gosh I can’t believe there’s only one episode left!
I’m a big fan of the peek into the future, flash back 8 hours
I saw someone make a post about how the song Ricky plays makes them think about “I fell in love with the pizza girl” from Jonas and now that’s all I can hear too
Joshua Basset’s voice is beautiful.
Big Red won’t let Rikcy finish his song and I’m sad about it.
So Gina moved the day after Tech Rehearsal
What did those boys talk about in the car if Ricky didn’t tell Big Red about the kiss??
Or did Big Red just forget?
What does the necklace say???????
Why didn’t they just think of the gym first??
“This is the first time I’ve been cast as the lead on purpose,” “But it won’t be the last,” Yes supportive Miss Jen
Break-A-Leg-O-Grams are being advertised on the bulletin board behind Ricky and Nini talking and I think that’s amazing
Ricky is reading all of Nini’s signals wrong, spit it out Nini!
The whole time Ricky’s talking he’s searching Nini’s face to see if he’s reading the situation right. Newsflash! He’s not.
“We’ve got mystery flowers people!” “Not from me! Sorry,” “It’s okay,”
That was cute
“Just be you Ashlyn, you’re enough,” Aww she was going for the hug and he high fived her. Big Red’s really not good at picking up signals (but then again is anybody? Especially anybody in high school?)
All of the lines they pick are so good!
“You’re my guys, and this is our team,” - Red. I’m glad he’s happy as part of the gang.
“What if you want to try something really new and it’s a total disaster and all your friends laugh at you,” - Ricky this gives us insight into how he’s feeling and it makes his mess-up in “Getcha Head in the Game” (which was totally reasonable) even more heartbreaking
“Do you ever feel like there’s this whole other person inside of you just looking for a way to come out,” - Nini. I mean, we been knew that Nini felt like that.
“Do the Romp, and strut your stuff,” - Carlos. Fantastic he’s the choreographer
“My shower head is very impressed with me,” - Kourtney. She feels like she’s just got a good voice, and nothing else
“I’m proud to call you my sister” - EJ. Ok, this part actually was so sweet. EJ really loves Ashlyn, and is really happy to have her as a support. Not to mention contrast that with how exasperated he looked in the beginning of the series when Ashlyn said “Actually, EJ’s my cousin,”
“My nail beds are history” - Ashlyn. Ok I don’t really know why she picked this line. Ashlyn’s usually the sensitive one. I guess maybe she wanted to just have fun for once.
“Sharpay’s kinda cute too,” - Seb. Yes self-confidence
“Yeah so is a mountain lion, but you don’t pet it,” fun little group dynamic here
“We’re all in this together” Miss Jen. What a sweet finishing line.
Ricky going over choreography with Carlos right before the show starts! He’s adorable and I love my baby boy.
THis harmony in the song is great (For a Moment? I think it’s called?)
Classic staring when you’re not looking trope
Also that stage makeup on Ricky is great, Joshua Bassett in eyeliner is *chef’s kiss*
Ricky’s dad is so excited to be there and then Lynne comes up and he just loses all his confidence and excitement. I have a feeling that she wasn’t a great wife to him. I mean yeah it would be kind of awkward to introduce your ex-wife to a lady that you flirted with but Lynne brought her whole boyfriend so there’s nothing to be awkward about. Also the “Jennifer, Miss Jen, this is my wif- Ricky’s mom, Lynne” I just want to give him a hug.
Also Lynne, what high school drama production has assigned seats??
Ricky peeking out from backstage to see his parents, he’s so happy and excited :( it makes what’s going to happen even sadder
“Dim the lights,” **american national anthem plays (or some kind of patriotic song, I don’t know, I’m Canadian)**
We’ve been robbed, start of something new is playing in the background as Mazarra and Jen haggle for tech support/robotics stickers
“Never touch me” - the way he said that was amazing and I loved it.
I like that they present the joke lines directly to the audience, it’s funny.
Who is EJ on the phone with? Is it Gina
“Need a hand?” How many have you got?”
The little slap of Big Red’s hand when he goes to touch the soundboard
“Yeahhh… that was two counts of 8, but keep drilling it though,”
EJ winking at the crowd
“A friend bought me a last minute flight back,” was it EJ???
Gina’s dance, fantastic!
SEBBBB!!!!THat death drop spin thing, amazing!!!!! GUitar riff!
Ricky needs to figure himself out a little better.
“Ehh, I guess I kind of invited her?”
Why is “Getcha Head in the Game” after “Stick to the Status Quo”??
Why did his mom invite Todd?
I mean everyone on tumblr’s already kind of ripped her a new one but seriously?? Why would you bring your boyfriend who your son’s never met before to his musical which he was so excited about (and not tell him on top of that). Ricky’s first performance is not the time he wants to meet his mom’s boyfriend for the first time. Also she should know that Ricky’s having a hard time with the divorce right? Like that was a terrible move.
Ricky’s not okay. I’m thinking he’s having some sort of anxiety attack or something along those lines. I’m very annoyed with his mom for doing that to him.
“It’s a long story, has anyone seen Nini? I could really use a pep talk right now. My mom’s new boyfriend decided to show up and I want to punch a wall, I feel like I need a miracle to face act two”
“Nini’s in a quick change booth right now, she seems a little nervous,” “Wait, why, what happened?”
Ricky cares about Nini so much. He’s in the middle of what I think is an anxiety attack and his concern is why Nini’s “a little nervous”
“Uhh, I thought I was doing a good thing but I think it backfired. You see that lady with the clipboard out there? That’s the dean from the performing arts school she was looking at,” “You invited her?” “Ricky, you look like you’re shaking, do you need to sit down?” “Actually I do, excuse me,”
“HEy!” ** aggressively takes shirt off ** (not going to lie for a moment I thought they were going to fight and I was like woah! Since when do we fight?) “I can’t blow this for Nini,”
EJ is so hesitant to take the Troy jersey from Ricky. I wonder what is stopping EJ from doing it?
“Has anyone seen my glasses?” On her head! Amazing! Although I must admit in all my years of having glasses I’ve never lost them on my head.
Troy your on, EJ stands up “Let’s do this,”
The drama of it all!
