Okay, so we know that Charles' polo goes red>burgundy>black and back by the end of the season.

Because there's so much going on, I always missed the exact transitions. This time I specifically tracked them down. (Apologies if this has already been done.)

Charles shirt is bright red through the majority of the Devlin House, even in Hope's Diary scene, when he opens up to Crystal.

Even when he first swings at Mr. Devlin and gets knocked back, his shirt is red.

The very subtle shift to burgundy is after he disappears and first reappears in the loop.

It remains burgundy throughout the entire lighthouse leapers episode and beginning of the two dead dragons.

I finally realized the very last moment we see of Charles in the burgundy is with Crystal. She tells him after the confusing makeout night, "But I think we should be friends," and kind-hearted Charles, of course, respects that and puts on a friendly smile.

It's difficult to see in the next scene with him because of his jacket, the angle he sits at on the ladder, and the lighting, but it's immediately after that when we first see him in the black polo.

My brother in death, you are NOT doing well.

His shirt is still black during the "I don't wanna be a bad guy" scene.

After Edwin's affirmation of Charles' inherent goodness, it is directly after this scene that the shirt goes back to burgundy!!!

He's still wearing the burgundy during the confession:

BUT IT GOES BACK TO BRIGHT RED LITERALLY RIGHT AFTER EDWIN'S CONFESSION AND THEY ESCAPE HELL TOGETHER!

Yo I equally love Cryland and Payneland but the show canonly said "Crystal hit him in the loneliness and Edwin hit him in the loved"

I work at Trader Joe's and decided to make an OFMD lighthouse painting inspired chalkboard! I wanted it to be something that fellow crew would immediately recognize…and then get butterflies and warm fuzzy feelings🥰 Nothing can ever take away the impact this show has made on all of us.

Just realized that The Case of the Lighthouse Leapers is all about ambiguity and traps from start to finish and I'm kinda stumped

The case itself is about wanting something so much it causes your death, how love and desire can be used to lure you into a trap. The Cat King shows up and tries to do the very same thing to Edwin in the forms of Monty and Charles. It's also the episode in which we are introduced to Jenny's secret admirer. The Night Nurse uses Crystal's wish of finding her parents to get to the boys — and of course, Crystal almost kills herself because of that same wish.

It's just. What do you mean all storylines were doing the same thing and I never noticed.

Also. Also. Crystal and Charles kiss after all that. Interesting, isn't it.

Finally got a little time together with the Hot Wife. Nice walk down to the Saugerties Lighthouse this morning.

This is my favorite episode of Our Flag Means Death.

I don't even usually have favorites of anythings - colors, songs, etc - but while the whole show has my whole heart, there is something extra, extra special about watching them instantaneously become best friends, their souls already intertwined before either of them even realize that's what's happened. The tremendous, unmitigated, unselfconscious, spontaneous, deeply honest joy they feel around each other before they even know each other. My heart can barely handle how happy they make me and all the things they've taught me about living.

So happy September the 1st, friends! A day magic was born, a day love burst into the universe in a form it had never seen before, a day that reshaped my own heart, reminded me that there is such unbelievable beauty in the world, and that wrote itself on me in permanent ink.
