So much has changed in all the time they hadn’t seen each other. So much, more so than can be seen by just how different they look now. Kliff looks like he’s been to hell and back, and Alm now looks as someone who never worked a day in their life, with that finery upon his shoulders.

Yet all those fine silks did not a raised noble make, and Alm finds himself pulling his old friend into a tight embrace at the words, tender and fierce all the same. “As did I, Kliff.” He can all but whisper, cheek pressed against his own, tears pricking at his eyes. “Gods, I’ve missed you.”

It’s hardly appropriate for a King, for his left hand to run through the other’s hair a little and for his hug to remain for so long, yet what made him withdraw was simply the desire to see his friend, to confirm that he stood before him and this wasn’t just some odd dream he had every so often of reuniting with those he had lost.

“You look like a mouse after an encounter with ten cats— You’ve quite the tales to tell, old friend.” And even if he laughs as he says it, the concern in his eyes is clear as day, his hands on the other’s shoulders squeezing gently in reassurance. Yet the gentle, passive smile that touches his face after is one of sheer affection and happiness. “And I’m willing to hear those you are willing to tell. Please… make yourself at home.”

☹️ ; Do you have any insecurities about writing and/or interacting with other people?

I’m a super shy person trying to write an extreme extrovert! Sometimes this helps because I can use Amon’s personality to butt into situations and do silly things I normally wouldn’t have the courage to do on my own. 

But really, I’m still very, very uncertain when it comes to trying to RP in game. I’m much more used to writing via Tumblr where I have time to think through my responses and consider my approach. It’s a different writing skill than being impromptu in game where I don’t want to make the other person wait tooooo long for my response. 

It also takes time for me to think up clever things for Amon, and doing it on the fly is much harder for me. I’ll type out something, then think of something better that I’d wish I’d written a little while later! XD

deity of : the arcane / wisdom / duality.   

associated with :    knowledge, diligence [associated with the arcane], giving advise, an owl perched on a hooded sage’s shoulder, sacrifice, blindness, solitude, pride before the fall, the duality of man & magic, the fine balance between life & death, overcoming death / illness, the ultimate sacrifice.

sacred plants ( and fungi ) :     violet iris [eloquence & wisdom], chrysanthemums [a symbol of life if white & death if darker colored], white papaver [sacrifice & remembrance].

sacred stones / gems :    onyx, amethyst, dark red carnelian.

sacred animals :    often depicted in a black hood that covers half of her features, & a tattered, black cloak to veil the body, it is hard to make out WHAT she is supposed to be; owls & [black] cats are usually drawn next to her concealed figurine. In rare, mainly withered depictions, she will wear white. Whenever depicted without a hood, she is drawn /displayed more feline & blind with the wing of an owl covering her left eye / upperbody. 

colors :   black & violet, shades of darker red on white ground.

food :    sweet berries, bitter tea leaves.

scents :    a forest’s rich incense, old parchment, dried ink, ash & smoke.

accepted offerings / ways to honor :   living a life of solitude / seclusion, dedicated to study, giving oneself to the arcane, sacrificing something dear to achieve clairvoyance / power / wisdom / protection, mainly NEGATIVE personal growth [such as the hardening of the heart], being a master of black & white magic thus comprehending the frailty between the two. An advocate of the White or Black alone will have to prove that they are willing to “embrace the duality of magic” by either a sacrifice made by using magic [burning / cutting a limb, an eye, a life, etc] or becoming a master of both.

shrines can either be found in deep forests, altars overgrown by local fauna [to those who seek a cure] / surrounded by lit torches, watched by looming creatures in the undergrowth [to those who seek destruction] or deep within ancient ruins, surrounded by never-aging tomes containing ancient knowledge & the forbidden arcane, accessible only to devotees who prove themselves worthy or in dire need [for those who seek knowledge].  

Disciples mainly turn to her whenever they seek advise / counsel or require help in overcoming a lethal situation or an illness. Hopelessness in general often coerces people to believe in her / visit a shrine in hopes of gathering an answer to their manifold problems or end their search for a cure. Despite being a stern deity, she is not entirely heartless & first & foremost aids those plagued by desperation. However, those who seek destruction have to harbor a pure heart which she tests by the demand of an aforesaid sacrifice.  -- next to the desperate creatures, the ill & the mystic, plenty of researchers of the arcane oft attempt to prove themselves worthy to gain access to her treasured knowledge.
