I’m sure I’m behind on this one and tons of people realized this a while ago, however i just now learned that Tairn’s name means thunder, which is pretty epic since Violet is a lightening wielder.

If I had a nickel for every time a Sorrengail got involved in a homoerotic rivalry with someone from enemy territory I would have… an alarming number of nickels
Lilith and Theophanie
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Asher and Faris
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mira and Syrena
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Violet and Cat? No examples necessary
And before someone disagrees, Theophanie was secretly hoping Mira (Lilith’s copy) was the lightening wielder so she could be her “teacher”, and when that wasn’t the case she very normally decided that dead was better than alive and away from her
Asher specifically wrote about Farsi’s eyes and the moment Violet stepped on that island the man was immediately taken by how pretty her eyes (that she apparently got from her dad) were. Later on he was possessed that not only he was outsmarted by someone again (presumably the first time was by Asher) but that it was Asher’s daughter who did it.
Now, my question is where’s Brennan’s???

Who is the real Creator?
I had to edit and remove some parts for this to make sense, I hope it is coherent if not please tell me so I can fix it and explain everything better. I did not expect people to be interested in this au so I was surprised! I hope you guys enjoy this chapter!
-TW: cult au, yandere, impostor au, mentions of being hunted down, mentions of trauma, mentions of character injuring themselves (nothing major)
-Gn reader and darling (please tell me if I mess this up message me and I will fix it)
Part 1, This is part 2, part 3, part 4
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Reader ushered Darling inside giving them the blanket which they used to dry their wet self. They sort of reminded Reader of what a wet sad cat one of their neighbors used to own looked like after a rainy day. Darling sat on the kitchen table as Reader once again prepared some tea. Reader really should get a nice tea set soon, they mentally put that on their shopping list the next time they are going to the market.
Darling sat quietly at the table sniffing and not saying much, Reader had no idea what to say before it would have been so easy they knew each other in and out. Yet now. . . it was as if a hundred years had passed, a million things had happened. Reader was now not sure what to say.
They weren't sure if they even wanted to comfort Darling. Shouldn't Darling be comforting Reader? All they got was that half-assed hospital meeting.
If Darling is upset wasn't there a league of followers, acolytes, servants heck even Archons who would comfort them why come to them now out of all times and alone? Clearly something serious happened that they had to runaway alone to them out of all people.
Reader inwardly sighed.
They bought out a pan. One thing they knew how to lighten the mood up was pancakes, it was easy and they knew how to do that . In fact, they might get a master's degree in making pancakes, Reader should ask Nahida if that is possible.
(They tried not to think that it was Darling's favourite meal to eat after being sad.)
"So. . . What happened?" Reader tried to start.
Darling did not respond for a while just quietly staring at them. Their eyes were a bit dull and exhaustion was evident on their face. They seemed to contemplate what to say before they started.
"I. . . I asked to wield a sword, at first they were against it but I wanted to try y'know?"
There was no question who they were, the crazy cultist acolytes. Reader shuddered at some of their past interactions with them, they were good weapon wielders reader would give them that. . . Reader had first-hand experience after all.
Yet Darling was alone with the trigger-happy acolytes all this time.
Although Darling was the supposed Creator, they should have been fine, Reader looked over at them and they lacked any surface wounds.
They should have been fine right?
"It was fine at first they taught me proper stances but then I got a bit touchy with the sword, you know me how I get with stuff like that and then I," she sighed, "I cut myself like an idiot."
Reader rubbed their head and thought about it, they would not be here for a cut something else went on and they waited for Darling to finish.
"Then I bled," Darling was quiet for a moment, "it was red."
Hey, it rhymed Reader wanted to say to break the tension but Reader refrained. They did not get it at all. What was so wrong with red blood? Wasn't blood supposed to be red.
Darling must have caught on and they looked like they finally understood something. It was they who wanted to understand what was going on!
"Uhm yeah you maybe don't know but the Creator is supposed to bleed gold."
Oh.
"Oh."
That is all they could say really. They felt dumb for a second there they had been actively avoiding taking any religious classes or any mention of religion for their own mental health's sake. Perhaps if they did not avoid it as much they would have understood what was going on much easier but for now the single religious book they owned remained hidden and untouched in their drawer.
Now that they finally understood the problem it was quite the conundrum. Darling was supposed to be the Creator yet now they were not because of some gold blood requirement. What would happen to Darling? Would they accuse them of harming the "real Creator"? Hunt them down like they did to Reader? Would they come and hunt down Reader again?
Although they doubted they would be hunted down again as the "blessings of the Creator" thing, whatever that meant, Nahida told everyone else seemed to work and placate them.
"Now what?" A reader asked tiredly.
"I don't know I managed to sneak out while they were distracted but I guess they will find out soon to come and get me."
Reader grimaced and turned around to prepare to finally whisk the ingredients they were too distracted to do while they listened to Darling.
"So like did they hurt you after they found out or something?" Reader cringed at their wording. They could have said that better considering it was a serious topic.
"No they didn't they just healed me and left me in my room," Darling paused, "You should have seen some of the looks on their faces, like I killed their puppy or something. . ."
Reader tried to imagine what it was like worshipping someone only for that person not to be the god they worshiped. It must have gone bad for both parties involved. Darling was told she was a god only to be looked at in disappointment. The followers who eagerly awaited for their beloved Creator only for it to be an illusion.
"Yikes, I can't imagine it was pleasant."
"It wasn't."
They went quiet after that soon the pancakes were ready and Reader went out to serve them along with the tea. Reader had to admit they could make some good mean pancakes because Darling looked a bit better with some of the color returning to their face.
There was another knock at the door.
Another visitor? Who would come- They looked at Darling, oh right.
Darling once again looked pale and the grip on their utensils was trembling. What had they done to shake them up this much? Reader wasn't doing better either their heartbeat going frantic as unpleasant memories resurfaced. Damnit they thought they had gotten better.
"Reader it is me Nahida we need to talk, I am sorry but it is urgent."
Reader inhaled, thank the stars it was only Nahida.
They relaxed their shoulders and opened the door. Despite the rain, the Archon looked dry and Reader wondered what sort of magic they used and if they could learn it as well.
"I am sorry to interfere," she looked behind Reader, "but it seems you have the person we have been searching for," Nahida said while looking genuinely sorry.
Right, the only person Darling knew besides the acolytes in this world was the Reader. No wonder they were found out so quickly.
"Uhm- uh- How about some pancakes first?"
Nahida looked the the back of Darling who was hunched over and relented. She must have seen something as she agreed rather quickly. Reader closed the door as the Archon entered their home. Nahida approached Darling they did an elegant bow and Reader was suddenly hit that Darling was or now was the creator. Darling got someone as well respected as Nahida to bow.
Reader had seen the way people behaved in respect and reverence at Nahida and how the scholars, the Emirates, and merchants would listen and take in her input. So someone like Nahida bowing. . .
Reader never fully understood the weight and status of that position the so-called "Creator" held even after being hunted down over it.
Yet now it seemed very heavy.
How did Darling live with that?
Darling face grimaced as she saw the bow. Nahida looked worried.
"Is there something going on your grace?"
This was going to be an awkward conversation. How to explain to someone you were not the god you thought they were?
Darling looked at Reader before looking back at their untouched pancakes.
"I am not your grace Nahida I bleed red like the rest."
A tense silence followed.
Nahida to her credit seemed calm with the revelation. She had her point finger touching her mouth in a contemplative gesture.
"I see and that is why you are here."
The room was quiet for a while. Reader awkwardly wrung her hands and it was surprisingly Darling, the least stable person who spoke up again.
"Did you know?" Darling said in an accusing tone their eyebrows narrowed. Reader thought they almost looked angry. Where did that come from? How could Nahida have known if no one else including them knew?
"To be honest your-," she paused," I had my suspicions.
Wait what- That was the first Reader heard about this.
"And you did not bother to tell me! To tell anyone?!" Darling jumped up from the chair.
"Was it funny watching me being led on, all those expectations, all those promises my whole world getting fucked up - fuck can I even go back home to my family?!"
Reader jumped between them hiding Nahida behind them trying to calm Darling down who looked to be on the verge of crying or a breakdown.
"Look Darling I know you are upset, it's messed up but she didn't have anything to do with it okay? I am sure she had her reasons."
Darling took one glance at Reader's eyes and fell down on the chair, they hid their face in their arms.
"I am. . . Sorry. . . Shit."
That de-escalated quickly just as it erupted. They worry about Darling's mental health at this point.
"It is fine, I suppose this is a very difficult situation for everyone involved," said Nahida.
Reader wrung their hands together.
"Hey I know it's not the time but I did make extra pancakes let's eat first?" They tried not to sound pathetic.
The silence was their reply.
"You and your damn pancakes," Darling said and snorted.
"Hey! I only do it because I know it cheers you up!" they said and huffed.
Nahida who looked at them laughed, the previous suffocating tension was gone and Reader went up to get a plate for Nahida as well. Finally both Reader and the Archon sat down on their seat they all ate in relative silence but it wasn't as awkward as it could have been.
Once finished Reader poured some hot tea.
"Thank you Reader the pancakes were delicious I will have to ask you to let me eat them again sometime."
Reader smiled at the Archon.
"Of course, you are welcome any time."
Darling who watched them snorted. Reader looked at them with questioning eyes.
"What are you laughing at," Reader said in an accusing tone. Was Darling mocking them again?
"You speak like them now," Darling said with an amused glint in their eyes as they looked at Reader.
"Ohh, I guess I kind of do. . ."
"Nerd."
"Hey!"
Nahida once again took a look at them and laughed. Both snapped out of their bubble and looked at the Archon sheepishly.
"I am glad to see you two are getting along well, I hope both of you don't mind the topic changing to a more serious one," she looked at both of them and both nodded,"Before we start, I have a question for you Darling."
Darling looked apprehensive but nodded.
"Do the others know about you not being the creator?"
". . .Yeah they do," Darling said and looked at their empty plate.
"I see that does make things easier it is better it is out now that later knowing how overzealous some acolytes and followers can get."
Reader grimaced and Darling looked a bit defeated at the statement.
"How much do you both know about the creator?"
Reader and Darling looked at each other and it was Reader who started to speak.
"Honestly not much I avoid religious talk at all cost."
Nahida looked at Reader with sympathy.
"I guess I am the opposite I got to learn a lot, basically in each new era the creator descends into a new incarnation, and their vessel is not always the same," she paused thinking about what to say next, "They like to live peacefully with their people because of that they don't always have their powers with them but they can gain them over time, something like that"
"Yes that is most of it, it is presumed in this era the creator chose to be a normal human which we thought was you Darling. We also thought that the Creator's presence and powers were weak due to being a normal human in this incarnation. Despite you not being the Creator some part of what I said is true.
"Which part?" Darling asked.
"The part where the creator chose to be an ordinary human, despite having such a faint presence me being so attuned to Irminsul could still feel it, yet it was weak. That is why I was confused. Rather than being the Creator you Darling had gotten a blessing from the Creator."
"But how I have never met them" Darling interjected.
Nahida stared at Reader and once again Reader was reminded of those intense stares directed at them as if trying to solve a puzzle piece.
"No, the creator was - is still quite close to you."
"Wait really?" Darling looked at Nahida in confusion inching closer towards the Archon as if they went closer physically they would solve the mystery.
"Yes we are sitting beside them after all."
There was no question about who Nahida meant both she and Darling were staring at Reader.
No.
That is what Reader replied with.
Nahida shook her head.
"I am afraid it is true.
No way.

The Lightening Wielder, Docm77
Epic Au again but for once, it's an actual rendered piece. Some fun lore behind his design for this one.
Instead of having a missing arm and parts, its electric burn scars from massive amounts of using his power.
Of course Doc is the one who created lightening, but what about the storms? He has two large pots that can never shatter that hold water. When they hit together, they make the sound of thunder and let lose it's contents.

Power Imbalances and How it can Affect the Story as a Reader:
Let me start with some warnings:
1. I am not a fan of being stuck in the night court as a reader.
2. I don’t love most of the people in the night court. But I also don’t hate them. I tolerate Rhys and Feyre for the part they play in ACOTAR. I actually do like Cassian and Azriel. And I do like Cassian and Nesta being mates. I am annoyed with Mor who to me is useless. And I hate Amren (she is probably the only character in ACOTAR I hate).
3. And though I say I don’t like the people in the Night Court that doesn’t mean I am rooting for them to be the true villains (except for Amren, I think she is gonna be exposed as a villain/enemy) or for them to be written out of the story.
4. I currently am reading CC3 for the first time and I have not read ToG yet but I know the main premise of the storyline with the Valg in it.
***********
So my main issue with ACOTAR is the magic/power system. I enjoy a more well balanced power system amongst the main characters and their support characters. It probably why I LOVE Crescent City. Is hunt powerful with his lightening, yes, but does that mean Tharion or Ruhn are pushovers or useless, no. And personally I think with how SJM writes the power system in CC Tharion is capable of beating Hunt if they went all out, it just depends on the context of the battle. So in ACOTAR we have Rhys who claims to be the most powerful high-lord of Prythian in history (IN HISTORY). We know he claims that Tamlin would give him a run for his money and a fight between the 2 of them could crumble a mountain. But truthfully we don’t actually see this power he claims to have. He has to outsource to Helion to help determine what is wrong with the Autumn Court Soldiers and to put wards on the room holding the Mask. Does that mean Helion is strong that Rhys no, it means Helion has mastered a skill that Rhys sucks at. But then I just question if you truly have to outsource for magical help can you truly claim to be the most powerful high lord in Prythian history.
Then, THEN, we get Nesta. Cauldron Made Nesta. Nesta who stole her powers of Death from the Cauldron. Nesta who reads as a Dues Ex Machina character to me. Who is so powerful with her magical made swords, and her dread trove of accessories that CHOSE her to be their owner and wielder, and then on top of that the other ancient cauldron made swords showing up in CC3. For me she just is getting a little too much for this story. AND I LOVE NESTA!!!!! The first time I cried was because of Nesta in book 1 confessing to Feyre that she went looking for her all the way to the wall. Nesta’s book, SF, if my favorite of the entire series so far. But even I get turned off by the constant Nesta is so powerful and can beat anything the ancient Fae locked away. Nesta is connected to a missing/forgotten court. That Nesta is connected to the bigger world storyline.
And it’s a lot of power and importance placed onto this one character when we still have not gotten the full picture of who all 3 sisters are or how all 3 sisters play a part in this world. Do I think all 3 sisters are important to this world, I have no clue? I can see all of them being important but I also can see one being more important than the others. But it just sucks that this one sister has outshined her other 2 sisters in power before we have even gotten close to an idea of who the 3rd sister is and what her role to play is and what her power level is.
For me it’s like SJM had Nesta climb Everest and now Elain is suppose to show up and what climb a small hill? Which I am thrilled and so excited and happy to see Elain climb that hill. And personally I don’t think it will be a hill. I think Elain’s mountain will be as hard to climb and navigate as Nesta’s and Feyre’s. But I guess my anger or resentment or my frustration with the storyline SJM has written so far is in the fact that everyone who are Elain haters and Elucien haters are gonna be sneering at any small or large accomplishment she does make in her story. Elain and Lucien will fight Koschei and the haters will be like “Nesta could have gotten that done in a shorter book”. Elain and Lucien will find out about their powers and discover their magic together and the haters will say “well she is not an ultra powerful death god with a trove of magical weapons at her disposal”. How does SJM write an Elain and Lucien story that can be on par with Nesta mastering death and killing Daglen? I worry that their book will be seen by the fandom as meh and they will say “oh it’s a nice book to read but it’s not epic, it’s not giving us any more insight into the Maas Universe. It’s just there like FaS.”
And it just sucks. Because for me I am anxiously awaiting their book. I have wanted their book since WaR. More than I wanted Nesta’s book. And at this point with how long these 2 characters have been sidelined and MIA in the story I am worried SJM has done them both a disservice to the fandom. I think a majority of the fandom don’t see either Elain or Lucien as stand alone, powerful characters. I don’t think the main fandom thinks they give off Main Character energy that can maintain and move a plot along. And that worries me. Because if the main fandom just go “meh” with their book it makes their storyline feel impartial and unimportant to the overarching world building that SJM seems to be creating. And I want them to be a part of that world building. I want them to step into power that makes the night court blink and take a step back. I want Rhys to feel humbled. I want Nesta to feel guilty for ever doubting Elain’s strength. I want Feyre to feel regret for ever thinking Elain is boring or Lucien is weak.
I just struggle to understand how SJM is gonna write Elain and Lucien out of the deep hole she has unknowingly put them into. And how it will hold up against Silver Flames and House of Flame and Shadow. And yes I have heard that currently HoFaS is not on the reading order for ACOTAR but we cannot ignore how it plays a part in the world building of Prythian/ACOTAR. We cannot ignore that it has open a rift/doorway into a bigger world conflict with a strong enemy at the helm. And I just want to know and feel reassured that Lucien and Elain will have a part to play in that bigger world. And if they don’t I want to know that their part to play in PRYTHIAN/ACOTAR is seen and read as imperative and important.
I WANT TO SEE CHARACTERS BE ON PAR WITH ONE ANOTHER IN POWER AND MAGIC SCALES. I DON’T LIKE WHEN THERE ARE DUES EX MACHINA CHARACTERS AT THE PLOTS DISPOSAL. And I guess I also just don’t want to spend the next few years defending Lucien and Elain’s book and power levels to haters who think Rhys and Feyre and Nesta are the most powerful beings in Prythian and no one else can compare.
Now with all my fear venting out of my system I will state these are my foreshadowing hints and also headcanon theories that Elain and Lucien’s story are gonna be important and on par power wise with Feyre and Nesta story:
1. Koschei is definitely a death god and most of the death gods prior to this have been extremely hard to kill or secretly forgotten Daglen.
2. Daglen can be harmed using magical made weapons which there is still a missing magical sword in Prythian, Narben. And if the theories I am reading are true then the Valg from ToG is the same as the Asteri/Daglen in CC and ACOTAR. And in ToG we know you can kill Valg using Fire and Healing, 2 magics Lucien is adept at.
3. Narben is German for scar/scars.
4. We know the Cauldron gave Elain powers. We only have seen her seer abilities. We do not know what her other cauldron given powers are yet. They could be healing or earth magic (which we have not seen earth magic in Prythian yet, but we have seen it in CC). And in CC we know corrupted earth makes the Flynn and Sathia feel uneasy.
5. The Cauldron Favors Elain, practically has a crush on her. I think the cauldron is going to play a part in Elain’s story. It actually has a pretty sad story of being corrupted by the Daglen with darkness. Like that sounds torturous for a sentient object of creation. I think Elain might be able to purify the cauldron.
6. I think Elain and Lucien are Carranam. I think Elain’s seer abilities are tied to Lucien’s presence and that Elain is tied to Lucien’s spell cleaving magic. I think they will be able to share their magics between one another and through their shared magic we will learn the true history of the Courts of Prythian and the Daglen and Fae war. I think Elain will be a time walker and that Lucien can access past memories of the former owners of ancient objects. And through them we will get the truth.
7. I think the Day Court royal bloodline is heavily related to the Starborn bloodline. Because stars are actually just suns that we can see shine at night.
8. I think LoA is from the true line of Autumn Court royal bloodline. I think Beron is from a branch bloodline that took the HL position after the true line went missing with Queen Theia or had a curse placed on it to only birth females who cannot inherit the HL position. LoA is the first true Autumn Court royal to have sons in millennia. And that Eris is powerful not because Beron but because of LoA and that Lucien is also very powerful because of his mother’s ancient bloodline.
9. Lucien is the son of Helion and LoA. And I believe they have a mate bond and so far any couple with a mate bond who have children those children are powerful. Rhys’ mom and dad had a mate bond, and Tamlin’s mom and dad had a mate bond. Rhys says to Feyre in WaR the mate bond could just be a way to ensure strong offspring are born into this world. Lucien’s magic and powers could be on par with Rhys and even Tamlin, if not stronger since he is the offspring of 2 royal court bloodlines coming together.
10. In CC the ancient Fae there started capturing and hunting and killing Pegasus in almost like a magical ritual way. In ACOTAR they are still an aww inspiring magical creature to the fae but they are going extinct. And the last of the Pegasus are all in Day Court with Helion.
11. Helion went to the weaver to bargain on Rhys behalf for her help in the war with Hybern and he would release her binding spell to the cottage. If Koschei could feel his brother and sister in the battlefield and he knew his sister was bound to her cottage as he is bound to his lake then he could set his sights on Helion and or Lucien to help release his magic binding spell. The same ancient fae warrior bound Stryga and Koschei, so potentially if Helion could release that spell then there is a chance Helion and lucien are descendants of that ancient fae warrior.
12. The dread trove has sun imagery on it. Specifically the mask and it makes Helion feel extremely uneasy. Uneasy enough for Helion to speculate that a past ancestor of his might have been an owner and victim of this item.
13. I think the dread trove represents the 3 sisters. The Mask is Nesta who is the queen of death and the dead. The Crown is Feyre who is a strong and accomplished Daemati. And the Harp is Elain someone who can see through time. I would like to see the Harp appear for Elain in her book.
So granted though I am upset with the power imbalances and the fear that Elain has been outshined by her sisters already and their mates, I have to hold onto these headcanons and clues that Elain and Lucien’s book will prove to be epic and SJM will bring them into the fold of the world after keeping them at a distance for 3 books now. That she will show the readers that they are imperative to the plot lines and world building going forward. And that Nesta and Feyre are not greater than or more powerful than Elain. I have to put my trust in SJM loving her characters and the story she want to tell to us. But alas I do get worried and scared and I just hate the idea of having to defend Lucien and Elain and their book to all the haters in this fandom.

Silly cross guild stuff but focused on my main man, my boy, my blue wet rat blorbo-
Mihawk is absolutely OFFENDED to be a father. He never asked for the parent life, the parent life crashed into his island against his will TWICE and now he can't escape.
Zoro will not admit to it, but it's there. They're both emotionally stoic, but they Understand. They have the vibe. They know. They know each other knows. They know the other knows they know. It's A Thing.
Perona is Mihawk's little girl and she's his goth princess. The parental vibe is there, no doubt about that, they both know (mostly), but their differences in personality often result in fights.
Luckily, Mihawk winds up falling in with an equally flashy and equally emotional person as his daughter.
Perona and Buggy get on like a house on fire.
They can and WILL make it everyone's problem.
At first, there are some points of contention - Buggy's not one for goth looks (#trauma), and Perona doesn't find clowns particularly cute. They very quickly find a comfortable middle ground, where Buggy spoils her rotten with different styles and spa days while Perona helps him experiment with different outfits and aesthetics. It's so sweet, it's so cute, Croc+Hawk are suffering so much cuteness aggression. It's great.
A lot of evenings will find the two dark haired warlords retiring for the evening to find Buggy, Alvida, Perona (maybe Uta too bc I love her), all of them having a spa night. They have masks, nail polish, he's doing Perona's hair and Alvida is doing Uta's nails while the songstress is painting the mace wielder's toes. It's domestic and silly and sweet.
Buggy also really adores doing makeup and hair. It's a crossover from his adoration of performances and performing arts. He helps out when they do ACTUAL performances too, be it Big Top Centric or on Karai Bari, landlocked.
Perona and Uta are his favorite little practice dummies, and Alvida can even be persuaded with wine, hot gossip and praise to do the same.
Perona personally ADORES the basket weaved braids he does for her, suble little flicks of flashy eyeliner that adds a slight touch of a carnival/clownery vibe to her makeup.
Uta is torn between most split styles and this crisscross looping braid Buggy does which turns her hair into a pepperminty-wonderland. ((Also she has been debating bleaching/lightening her red, dying her white.... pink and blue are such comfy colors to her now...........))
It's especially adorable when Buggy teaches them some tips and tricks that transfer from performance to fighting, and they eventually even have a shared performance, hair done the same, makeup complementary but individualistic. It makes hearts MELT because the girls are simply SO HAPPY, Buggy is absolutely VIBRATING in joy.
The day they realize that, by their powers combined, they may even be able to rope Mihawk into it, too..... well.
That's a story for another time, huh?

Do we know the original six riders' signets?
Maybe I missed it. Don't see it on the Wiki.
It feels like this generation of magic is building that team again.
My current guesses (based on what signets are showing up, Onyx Storm spoilers)
Lightening wielder (storm wielder feels stronger but main character syndrome definitely in play. Also Felix's comment of she is power and just uses lightning still feels unaddressed.)
Shadow wielder (the fact that Lynx manifested as a shadow wielder, the magic wants one around really bad.)
Distance wielder (powerful as hell and the hasn't been one in centuries thing)
Siphon (Tairn produced one with Naolin, magic wanted it back in play again already)
Mending (even though there are two known currently, and sounds like others, feels too important not to have been one of the original signets)
Last one I keep switching options
Precognition (what better way to win a war than to know how things are going to go)
Canceling signets is up there (feel like we over look that when they thought the wardstone needed most powerful riders, Bodhi was there. However it doesn't even work on venin signets which maybe not then)
Dragon color feels important too though, which could change things around.
Black - lightning
Blue - shadow
Brown - distance
Red - siphon
Orange - mending
Green - canceling
Things get weird because Xaden turned, if he doesn't count anymore. Don't know what Lynx's dragon is. But blue could swap for Aaric and Precognition. If Lynx has a green then bump canceling off the list and it feels pretty solid.

Guys I’m SO normal about the Dead Men, trust me bro
We have Ghastly, the kind one, always being taken advantage of and having to give up so much just to deal with Skulduggery in the war. He tried his best to prevent Valkyrie from being a child soldier, failed, and then decided to do his best in raising her.
We have Dexter, who has lost EVERYTHING over and over and over and has been manipulated and lied to by almost everyone he knows without ever having taken advantage of his friends himself. He has had so many people he loved die before his very eyes and he had his throat torn out and then stitched back together and somehow he hasn’t just killed himself to get it over with. In fact, he’s literally the only Dead Man who’s never actually died.
And of course there’s Saracen, the only Dead Man without a violence-based discipline and who was so ashamed of his power that he hid it for literal hundreds of years and only revealed it to save his relationship with Dexter. He’s considered small and weak but he managed to survive the entire war by fighting his way out the old fashioned way and there’s a very good chance the reason he ended up in the war camps was partially caused by him killing all his siblings.
And there’s Anton, who’s considered big and scary because he’s tall, goth, and quiet but is actually a really sweet guy and one of the better Dead Men. Gist wielders usually die pretty young but this man is like 500 and still somehow going. Unlike many of the other Dead Men, he’s actually REASONABLE in what they should do. People can’t tell when he’s joking because he has a flat voice. He was sad after the war and so decided to make a teleporting hotel. He’s awesome.
And there was Erskine, who legitimately cared about and was loyal to his friends for so long before eventually joining up with the Children of the Spider and slowly working against his friends until he murdered two of them and the other four literally disowned him and swore vengeance.
And in terms of dead members, Hopeless grew up in a damn assassin cult and switched personalities depending on who was with, with his one recurring theme being that he liked animals and didn’t want unnecessary harm to come to them. And of course, Larrikin, who we know almost nothing about but DO know that he was a jokester who tried to get Anton to lighten up, even in extremely tense circumstances.
And finally, we have the most disastrous duo in Ireland. Skulduggery went insane after death and tried so damn hard to curb his violent tendencies and outbursts, but ultimately failed and became a monster who hurt and killed his friends. He’s ruthless and he’d kill anyone he deemed necessary to succeed in the mission. He’s slowly learned to become less dependent on vengeance over time. He’d burn the world down for Valkyrie. He also raised a child soldier and openly admits that the two of them do not have a healthy relationship, and yet they choose to remain inseparable anyways.
And Valkyrie. The youngest of the Dead Men. A child soldier. She joined a full-scale war on a suicide squad literal days after turning eighteen. She’s been through a drug addiction and she’s buff as hell. The people she fights with usually either die or end up befriending her. She inches just a little bit closer to godhood every day, but she still can’t save the people she loves when it matters most. She wasn’t supposed to live past eighteen. Her personality disorder became the universe. She is so, SO doomed and she knows it, and she wouldn’t have it any other way.
They’re such a godawful found family, man. A bunch of people who adopted each other because no one else wanted them. This isn’t a particularly deep analysis about any of them, I’m just expressing how much I love what was done with them.

Make Me Your Villain II
Master list link here(includes chapters, summary, and character bios)
Warnings: referenced emotional manipulation, referenced death, referenced murder, grief, isolation
Liam teleported into the one place he would be safe, the one place that Jude would leave him be. As the decaying walls of the Haven materialized around him, Liam let out a sob. He had been lied to and manipulated for years. And people had died because of it. The Haven was in disrepair. The once resplendent estate of his family had fallen to ruin after a fire when Liam was eight killed both his mother and father and nearly took his life. Liam still had a burn scar on the back of his calf. A fire, Liam realized, Jude had likely started to kill him. And his father.
Liam’s father was a quiet, kind man. Liam was beginning to forget what his father’s voice sounded like, what his face looked like. He could remember his father’s eyes, the same eyes as his own, but not his hair color. Liam’s father had been a lightening wielder, and a powerful one at that. He could call lightening from the sky, pull it from the ground, and send it surging through the world. But he only ever used the power when there was a great need. Liam suspected that his father had given up his power when Liam’s mother came into the picture. Liam’s mother was his whole world. Liam adored her. But as he stood in the foyer, he realized that her face, too, was fading from his memory.
Liam wiped the tears from his cheeks. There was no point standing in the ruins of the place he had called home all those years ago trying desperately to remember the people who raised him. There was no point because they couldn’t help him, as much as he wished they could. The man who had raised him, the man who he thought was one of the best, the man he followed blindly for years, was evil. Jude had to be stopped. And the only way Liam could do that is by rebuilding the Haven first.
It took Liam hours to assess all the damage to the house. The east wing had smoke damage, but overall was habitable once it was cleaned. Between the three bedrooms, kitchen, library, and conservatory, Liam felt that it would be the easiest place to start. Liam was grateful that there was one bedroom and bathroom that was completely untouched. The west wing, on the other hand, needed more help. Two rooms—a sitting room and a bedroom—were mostly ash and blackened wood. Three rooms—the ballroom, bedroom, and dining room—were slightly better with severe smoke damage and partial burns. Liam shook his head. He needed help to repair these rooms.
He decided it wasn’t worth going out onto the grounds. Liam knew the pool, tennis courts, green house, labyrinth, and empty stables were unharmed. Though, they were probably in desperate maintenance needs, Liam didn’t really care. He had no one to share the grounds with.
No one.
Liam was alone. So completely and totally alone in this world. No family, no friends, no one. Liam was certain that Jude had probably already broken the news to the citizens of Hiraethian of his defection. Jude probably even blamed Liam for the recent uptick in crime and destruction. That wasn’t a lie, Liam had done those things. But he had thought they were the right thing. He had believed Jude so completely.
He couldn’t go back to Hiraethian for help. If he did, he was just as likely to be shot on sight or thrown in jail for crimes he didn’t commit. And so he would have to journey to the next town—a mid size city called Oxwell—to see if he could get help with the renovations. It wasn’t likely that a town four hours away would have heard of his crimes.
As Liam settled into the quiet, dark house, he tried not to let his mind drift to the betrayal he felt at Jude. How could he have been so stupid? He was a child of eight. Of course he believed the man who pulled him from the fire. Pulled him, but not his parents. Liam had clung to Jude in those early days. Following him everywhere. Jude had sent him to be alone in his new spartan bedroom. Liam had cried for hours, the shadows gathering around him. When Jude returned to find him, Liam’s shadows had struck. It was then that Jude took Liam to the gym in Sluagh to train. Liam spent days training. Years of his life dedicated to honing his shadows into lethal, powerful weapons.
When Liam turned fourteen, Jude sent him on his first solo mission. It had been such a roaring success—Liam had tracked down a bank robber and captured the man without any bloodshed. After that, Liam spent more time fighting crime—or so he thought—than anything else.
And so to find out it had all been a carefully crafted lie, broke Liam. Broke him more than he had the words for. He knew he had to fight back. Had to fight to save his city, his people. But for now, all he wanted to do was hide. And rebuild.
It took three weeks of teleporting back and forth between the Haven and Oxwell before Liam was able to find a contractor that was willing to travel four hours. Liam was sure his offer to double the contractor’s fee helped. It was just money. And he had plenty of it, though he realized in addition to lying to him for all those years, Jude had also been stealing from him, too.
It took four days of convincing himself that if he teleported the crew in, he might blow his cover. Teleportation was a rare ability, even among those with powers. Shadow wielding was even rarer. And so Liam offered, instead, to house the contractor and crew until the job was completed.
The east wing was restored in four months. In that time, Liam had worked up the courage to return to Hiraethian. Concealed by his shadows, Liam tracked Jude to city hall. He saw Jude meet with the mayor—a man who had commended and expressed undying gratitude for all of Liam’s service—and share a plan to hunt him—Liam—down and execute him for his crimes. Crimes Jude had committed. He realized even as he tried to convince the few civilians who saw through his shadows of Jude’s betrayal, no one would believe him. Jude was beloved. And he had struck first. Liam was the villain of the story. The source of all evil that plagued Hiraethian.
The west wing took another five months to restore. In that time, the contractor had brought in a crew to restore the grounds so at least Liam could enjoy the vast expanse of lands in his exile. Liam was relieved the project was done. Even if it meant he was alone once more. He needed space to think. Space to research. And space to plan on how he would take Jude down. Once and for all.

Magenta
splattered paint, glitter, childhood friends, neon, pleather, dance floors, crystals. your essence is magenta: you are charming and lead with your heart. you are drawn to people; you adore the thrill, that rush of attention when making an instant connection. even if you are not genuine, you are confident. you are the enchanter. you are the party-goer. you find kinship in like-minded individuals of pink, rose, amethyst, and amaranth, who share your magnetism towards others. you are also drawn to the driven noir and umber, who will help you grow and become more introspective. however, you may struggle to get along with the ruminating personalities of forest and marigold who seem to always overthink.
(Awww it was a sweet result! <3 )
For my John: Red
leather jackets, cherries, bruised knuckles, roses, lipstick, fast cars, rose petals. your essence is red: you are a spirit of intensity who effortlessly inspires others. you struggle to slow down; there is always another goal, another prize, to prove you are strong enough to them. you cannot stop speaking for the voiceless. you are the torch-wielder. you are the rebel. you find kinship in like-minded individuals of crimson, blush, terracotta, and fire, who share your unapologetic nature. you are also drawn to the free-spirited souls purple and yellow, who will help you grow and see that you can lighten your heart sometimes. however, you may struggle to get along with the internal personalities of blue and brown who are too methodical.

“Let us talk about the fact that Violet is so important to the Venin, that they made Jack-fucking-Barlowe protect and save her in Iron Flame.” —shortshannonreads
I’ve been pondering this ever since I saw it on a random Insta… so, is THAT why Baide didn’t roast her in Iron Flame when given the chance in the RFC mission?!?
… Speaking of how long was Baide opaque eyed and not herself, did it start in that chapter when she was described as “catching her hazy golden eyes” and later “opaque instead of golden” and what did that equate to in meaning (it’s not Venin veins… so)?
… And when did Jack Barlowe turn venin, I presumed he always was, but he hid it well (was he like Xaden in that way?) and if so how long until he was given the “don’t kill her” order? — at least it explains him saving her life in Iron Flame (cause that was confusing as hell). … Though I still feel bad for Baide, and kinda confused on what a Venin rider does to the bond (+ how he even did that to Baide… let alone survived via draining & Venin shit)

how do you best like to be loved?
Tumblr media
write me your words of wonder.
you want to be thought of with intent, for someone to sit down and want to share their thoughts with you specifically. and their thoughts about you, even more. for someone to Know you, or at least desire the knowledge. for them to write it out in a way that you can read as quickly or slowly as you desire. that you can reread again and again, or lock in a box and never read after that first quick consumption. you crave that tangibility. and the small moments that lead up to the letter being in your hand. to be told, 'it's in the mail' and then to have the simple joy of checking the mailbox to see if it has come today. to hold the envelope and feel the love within. there is a purpose of intent within physically written words, and it patches the parts of you that feel like you aren't worth thinking about. my darling, know that you are. you are worth intentional thought and cursive letters and an envelope sealed with a kiss.

Fourth Wing Theory *Spoilers*
If you choose to keep reading, you are at risk for major Fourth Wing Spoilers. You have been warned, but I beg of thee, do NOT ruin it for yourself. It is too good.
As we know, General Melgren's dragon, Codagh, marked all the rebellion kids (AKA, the marked ones). Now, there is another theory (not mine) that the marked ones have two signets. I have thoughts to add.
I believe that Codagh knows what is happening outside Navarre's boarder. Truthfully, I think all the dragons know, and that's part of why not as many are willing to bound. But that is a side note for another post.
As we have seen, the dragons names correlate with the signet their rider develops (thus fair, at least.)
General Melgren - Ability to see the end of the battle (Codagh means War)
Violet - Lightening (Tairneanach means Thunder)
Xaden- Shadow Wielder (Sgaeyl means Shadow)
Liam- Farsighted (and ice) (Deigh means Ice)
If Codagh knows what is going on outside the wards, outside Navarre, and disagrees... I think it is reasonable to assume that he intended, because their is no way a dragon this powerful would make such a critical mistake, for the marked ones to be able to draw power from their rebellion relic. Like, I don't know, a second signet, maybe? I also think that Codagh intended for this relics to interrupt General Melgren's ability to see the end of a battle if three or more are together because the rebellion isn't over.
The humans are the pets, the dragons are the leaders. The dragons are calling all the shots, the humans just think they get a say.
Let me what you think! I have plenty of other ideas/theories I am happy to share if you are interested.

Second Signet Analysis: Distance Wielding
Welcome to the first in a long series of posts where I do a round up of all of the "Violet Second Signet" theories in hopes to provide a (hopefully) complete list of all possible ideas so when Onyx Storm releases you won't be clowned because at least you can say, "Hey! I saw a theory post on this once!". 🤡🤡🤡
So since RY dropped the bomb that violet’s second signet has manifested in IF, my brain has been going BONKERS racking up possible signets. I’ve currently settled down on one theory that I guess could be correct. (Idk honestly) (or at least that’s what I’d write if I was in RY’s place)
VERY BIG DISCLAIMER: Although I try to stay neutral, some things in this post is my personal opinion. You do not need to agree with them and neither am I asking you to.
Anyways with that over, let’s start the analysis.
FOURTH WING/IRON FLAME SPOILERS AHEAD
Obviously the starting post had to be distance wielding because duh.
What is Distance Wielding?
As the name suggests, Distance Wielding lets a rider travel large amounts of distance within a short period of time (I'm going to guess it's just teleporting but with a fancier name?). As RY herself states-
“Are you a distance wielder?” I’ve only read about two riders in all of history who could cross hundreds of miles in a single step. -Rebecca Yarros, Chapter 55, Iron Flame
Now, it is to be mentioned that it was one of the only elements/signets that were actually name dropped during the second signet conversation.
There are many hints that Violet might be a distance wielder:
Violet is often described as extremely quick
There is one scene in Iron Flame which could either be a genius hint or bad editing:
I jolt upright in bed, reaching for my throat and gulping lungful after lungful of air, but there’s no cut, no ache, and when I turn the mage light on with lesser magic and a twist of my hand, I see there’s no blood, either. “Of course there isn’t,” I whisper aloud, the raw sound cutting through the silence of my bedroom as the first hints of sunlight lighten the sky to purple beyond my window. “It’s just a fucking nightmare.” There’s nothing that can touch me here, Xaden asleep beside me. [Xaden isn't supposed to be in Aretia if my timeline is correct.]
Distance wielding is a signet that “Hasn’t been seen in centuries”. Do you know who also hasn’t been seen in centuries? ANDARNA.
Andarna always says “I’ll be right where you need me” and if that isn’t suspicious then idk what is
My opinion (?):
I was thinking distance wielding for violet at one point too. But then this appeared:
(some parts of quote cut out because it’s irrelevant)
“What’s your signet?” Mom shouts, but I lack the strength to lift my head. “Hasn’t manifested,” Aaric answers in a panic. -Chapter 64, Iron Flame
Now, from a writer's point of view, why would RY mention this line if not for it to be relevant? Aaric has bonded a pretty powerful blue dragon and his signet hasn't manifested.
It adds up to Aaric’s personality too. He ran away from home and is still trying to get away from his father. He's spent the entirety of IF running away. So distance wielding is perfect for him seeing as it can let him travel extremely quick (aka amazing for fleeing)
Anyways, that is all for this one cause the brainstorm has become a brainfog and I cant legitimately think anything rn. Let me know if I missed anything (please 🥺🥺🥺) and other signet theories you have so I can make sure I didn't miss anything!
