Jikook Week 47 Complete (29/10-05/11/2024)
Their 47th week in the military is now complete and we celebrate with a look back at this week in 2017.
It was a very special week for Jimin and Jungkook marking their first trip together. They went to Tokyo between 28/10 and 31/10 on a trip that JK organised as a birthday present for Jimin, a trip that they are still talking about seven years later.
"We were walking down an alley, there weren't many cars, there was the light from the street lamps.... It was really beautiful. And then Jimin said that his feet hurt and so we walked slowly. These simple things were so fun" Jungkook, Real Love, Beyond the Story
"We went around wearing masks from the move Scream with black fabric covering our bodies, and black umbrellas. When people came over, we took picture, it was fun. We went around people watching, and when we went to the restaurant, we took off our masks and ate" Jungkook, Real Love, Beyond the Story
They wandered the streets, went shopping, ate good food and visited Disneyland before returning to Korea on the 31/10.
The first Golden Closet Film came out about a week later on 08/11 much to JK's delight as its talented creator and Jimin as its star.
youtube
No one before or since has shown Jimin quite like JK does here. He is completely open, relaxed and joyful. He beams at JK behind the lens. This is what it must feel like to be in Jimin's inner circle and have his complete trust. It is a Jimin that we don't really see anymore, although perhaps, in Are You Sure? we caught glimpses of that guy.
On 31/10, Jimin posted this photo of them looking relaxed and happy with an emoji caption. The trip seems to have done them a lot of good and brought them even closer.
😊💐
The trip took place during a break in the Wings tour between the Taiwan concerts on the 21-22/10 and the Macau concert on 04/11. If you want to know how crazy this time was for them and how hard they were working nothing can demonstrate that more clearly than the Burn the Stage series and in this case Episode 8 which shows the October and November leg of the tour and its final concert in Seoul on 10th December 2017.
It is in this episode that Taehyung asks us to love all seven of the members of BTS which seems worth repeating at this moment.
Watching their 2017 selves talking about what they learnt about each other and about themselves during the Wings Tour made me nostalgic for a time when I wasn't even in the fandom and hopeful for the future that they deserve, pursuing the next steps of their musical journey together as a group. Just over seven months to go before that future can become a reality and all we need to do until then is hold it together, ensure we put out our share of positivity to balance the incessant toxicity of SM and TRUST IN BTS.

MIYA Kicks of Her Solo Tour, and I Went to All Three Days in Seoul
By: Shin Yeseul || 11:30 AM || June 17, 2024
MIYA started her tour “Headliner 2024” with three days in Jamsil Olympic Stadium!
Back in 2017, I wasn’t an ARMY, but I randomly ran into Miya. We talked for a bit, and her personality made me want to check out her music. Since then, I became a fan, and I managed to get tickets to all three days of the Initial Seoul stop with the help of my friend Yongsun (I love you, thank you).
I’m here to share my experience on day 1.
First of all, her stage outfits were amazing! My favorite was her act 2 outfit, which she posted on her Instagram account. I’ve included some photos in the cover of this blog post!
Before the concert even began, music videos were playing! Not just her music videos, but also BTS music videos! Although, as a Czennie as well, I’d have to say seeing the video of Miya and Mark’s SM Station both surprised me and made me sad (I miss them as a couple T.T).
Aside from the usual guidelines and lightstick connecting videos, there was a notice shown on the screens every now and then about 45% of the ticket and merchandise sales from “Headliner 2024” would go to medical and relief missions to help the people of Palestine, just like she said in her live a week prior to the concert.
At 6PM precisely, the lights turned off and the opening VCR started. It was insane, it showed some of the biggest scandals she was victim to from the early petition to remove her all the way to the last name fiasco. Then it showed her solo debut and all her achievements as a soloist and a producer, composer, music engineer, and lyricist.
Then the first act started. It began with “My House”, the first “Oh” playing without music and Miya’s silhouette appeared. There was a pause, and chills went through me as everyone’s cheers grew louder. There was the musicless chant of “Who they came to see? Me!” with the white cloth coming down at the word “me” and revealing Miya. There was another moment of silence. Goosebumps rose on my skin as she scanned the crowd. Then, the moment she smirked, the music started up again. No words can express how exhilarating the opening felt. “My House” is definitely the best song to start off a concert titled “Headliner 2024”.
She gave a ment after “My House” to welcome everyone to the tour, then finished the act with “Picture”, “Play”, another ment, “Drama”, then “Holy Moly” before the lights turned off for the next VCR to play.
The VCR started with news outlets discussing her change in “Blood, Sweat, and Tears”, saying she’d be better off not going into sexy concepts. It was at that moment that we all knew the next act would be the more recent songs. We were right. The VCR showed the reactions to her Chapter 2 Comebacks with the more mature concepts.
Act 2, which had my favorite outfit, began with low pink lighting and “bet u wanna” and “got her own”. Her ment was quicker, joking around about making sure minors who came to her concert had either their parent’s consent or a guardian with them. She continued the act with “7 rings”, “b.i.t.c.h.”, and crowd favorite “bloodline”. This act had her more interacting with the audience in comparison to Act 1 that was solely performance.
The next VCR began, this time showing netizens’ comments about how she seemed to be too different from the other members of Bangtan. It played a clip from an interview for her solo debut of her saying “People said I was different from the oppas, so I decided to actually show them what different is”.
Act 3 started off with a y2k vibe based on the songs “Shooting Star”, “Blue Flame”, and “Thirsty”. After her ment, she picked up the mood with “AYAYAYA”, “Wow Thing”, and “SHHH!”, which got everyone excited.
No one was prepared for the next act.
The VCR was different from the others. The screen was black, and an excerpt from one of her interviews on her solo debut schedules played: the audio of her saying “the members? They’re everything to me”. There was no background music when it showed seven different clips of her hugging each member before they enlisted. At the end of everything, there was a video of her getting into a car, the visuals fading to black while a reporter’s voice played saying “Now that the BTS boys are all enlisted, Miya is officially on her own for a while.”.
The lights slowly went on, showing Miya on the extended stage, guitar in her arms. Everyone’s hearts broke as she performed “breathe” live in front of an audience for the first time. She followed it with “Clued Up” before going into a ment.
She asked us all if it was okay to slow things down for a bit and to take a moment to introduce some people in the crowd who meant a lot to her. The screens behind her shifted to show people in the crowd, seated together and all looking a little confused before waving at everyone and waving their lightsticks around.
It was all seven boys of BTS.
I still remember vividly the smile on Miya’s face when the seven of them were shown on the screen. She smiled and introduced them one by one and asked them what they thought of the concert. The boys showed various versions of approval from different hearts to thumbs ups and head nods. “Glad to hear you’re enjoying. I have a surprise for you, if ARMY don’t mind.”
We all cheered, thinking she would perform “Mikrokosmos”, or “Magic Shop”. She carried her guitar over to a piano that was lifted onto the stage near her and sat there. I can’t explain the rush we all felt when Jungkook’s masked face was zoomed into on one screen the moment Miya began playing the opening notes of “Euphoria”.
Miya performed one of the members’ solo songs each, completely acoustic, and each time, the song owner’s masked face was zoomed into on one screen while she was shown on the other screen, making it look like they were facing each other.
She did “Euphoria” for Jungkook, “Inner Child” for V, “Serendipity” for Jimin, “Closer” for RM, “On The Street” for J-Hope, “Snooze” for Suga, and “The Astronaut” for Jin.
Were we all tearing up? Yeah, but so were the tannies! Once she finished everything, she got up and smiled into the crowd, in the direction of the boys. While walking backwards up the runway to the main stage, she thanked them for coming and for being her strength and her family before she introduced the last song of the concert. She performed “Trivia: Why”.
Of course, even if she said that was the end, we all knew it wasn’t. We had ARMY Time, where we all sang “LOVE”’s first verse and chorus.
Then, the lights dimmed again, and the band started playing “Nonsense”, her collaboration with Sabrina Carpenter. She changed the second verse (her original part in her collaboration) into a rap! Not to mention, she came from the crowd! She walked around while performing, taking photos with, hugging, waving at, and interacting with ARMY the whole time. Yongsun and I were a little sad she didn’t get to go to where the tannies were, but they were on the third floor of audience, so it was understandable.
She ended the song on the main stage where she began “Hype Boy”! She’d dance during the chorus, but interact with fans during the verses. Before the last chorus, the music vamped, and she introduced each of her band one by one. It was an all-woman band! She then introduced her dancers, all of which came from the dance studio that she and Jungkook set up and fund together: “Do Studios”.
After the last chorus of "Hype Boy", she thanked her friends who came. For Day 1, it was the tannies, her brothers Yoonsung and Chan, Chan brought Felix and Leeknow with him, the whole of NCT Dream + Jungwoo, the whole of TXT, Kep1er’s Yujin and Bahiyyih, The Boyz’s Sunoo and Eric, the whole of Enhypen, and Boy Next Door’s Myung Jaehyun.
Day 2 had the tannies, Viviz’s Umji, Red Velvet’s Yeri, the whole of SHINee, Chungha, Kiss of Life’s Julie, Hori7on’s Marcus, Unis’s Elisia and Gehlee, and Aespa’s Ningning.
Day 3 had the tannies and her family members, who had flown in from Australia to watch her. That’s her mom, her dad, Yoonsung (with Eunseol, Yoonseol, and Hanseol), Chan, Hannah, and their youngest brother.
These are just those she mentioned, you can find threads on twitter of other idols who watched her concert. She even reposted some of their stories or posts about it on her Instagram stories!
But she never failed to mention how thankful she was to ARMY, not just for coming to see her, but for also being a part of her effort to help people in need.
With that, she ended the whole concert with “good parts” and “Celebrity” all while roaming through the crowd and interacting with people as much as she could from both the ground and the main and extended stages.
All in all, I would say “Headliner 2024” was an amazing experience, from the song choices to the VCRs to the emotions to the cause and all the way to Miya herself. There’s a reason every location sold out in an average of 2 minutes.

❛❛ 송버드의 멜로디 ❜❜ ─── from red rover era to killing me softly era
w. contains imagery that may cause eyestrain, flashing light, contains imagery of blood and weapons in the ego death section of the video mentions death in the killing me softly section! if i missed anything please let me know!
n. i realized while making this part that im actually insanely happy with judy’s discography lmaooo!! feedback is always welcome~~! i had fun making both of the posts for her discography hehe
RED ROVER era began with the pre-single WHAT THE FLOWER?, released on November 21, 2018. The album, the singer’s first studio album, was released on January 2, 2019. The title track, Forgotten Fairytale, caused controversy towards the singer—due to the sexually suggestive nature of the music video and choreography. The song’s music video was banned from KBS due to these same issues; she could not perform the song on any music broadcast. In response, Team Honeysuckle released a performance video of the song and held a two-day concert the weekend after the album’s release. While she could not promote the title track, LOVE DRUG, the album’s second track, was promoted for one week.
Despite the controversy surrounding this album, it was nominated for many major music awards but only took home Album of the Year at the MAMA Awards.
Talking Heads followed its predecessor by being relatively mature as well. However, unlike RED ROVER’s title track, Tail could be promoted on music shows. Tail was popular; its intriguing music video and distinct choreography ensured it was one of the most popular releases in 2019. The b-sides were just as popular, Good Girls in the Dark debuting at number four on Goan’s Digital Chart and number seven on Billboard’s Top 100. Bad Hobby blew up on tiktok, and the single Red Rover followed suit.
The hype around the Summer EP, HONEY, began during the Talking Heads era. The singer’s seventh mini album was teased at the end of the latter promotions. Promotion for the upcoming album began with a collaboration between Team Honeysuckle and several Seoul-based cafes. The EP consists of nine songs, including TAXI—the title track. TAXI was promoted for four weeks and won sixteen music show awards.
IDOLL is JUDY's Japanese debut studio album, released through the Japan-based subsidiary Yūgen Labs. IDOLL is unofficially a collaboration album between the Seoul-based singer and the Japanese band Cupid’s Chokehold, also under Yūgen. Most songs were written by the band’s lead guitarist, Kaede Fujiwara. In addition, the band accompanied Judy on her short Japan tour, which spanned from January to early March.
The album contains seven tracks. IDOL represents the album as its title track and one of the most streamed songs of the album. The track Adventure was just as popular, the song being played at the Hollywood Dream — the ride venue at Universal Studios Japan.
The album's reception was mixed. Most of the negative reviews focused on how rushed the release felt and how out of place the tracklist was; most stated that the songs felt more like a series of singles than a coherent album. The positive reviews ultimately, outweighed the negative ones. Japanese fans enjoyed how creative the music videos were and the stories each song spun.
After a year-long unplanned hiatus, JUDY released her eighth mini album on July 6, 2021. Lover Girl was released with two promotional tracks: Not In Public and Heart.
Both music videos starred the idol’s fiancée, Jung Kyungmin. It was their first collaboration since they confirmed their relationship in 2017. Inspired by the 1990s and early 2000s romance animes and dramas, the music video won Best Music Video at the 2021 MAMA Awards.
EGO DEATH. was released on August 21, 2022, as JUDY’s second full album. Along with the release of this album, JUDY announced her 3rd world tour, PLASTIC DOVE, which took place from early 2022 to mid-2023.
EGO DEATH. was one of Judy’s most adventurous albums, specifically with the lead track, little god. The music video for little god shocked many viewers due to its bloody and thrilling nature. Because of its graphic nature, it joined Forgotten Fairytale and was banned from KBS. However, unlike its predecessor, she could still perform it on music broadcasts. EGO DEATH. was ranked at 13 on Billboard’s top 25 K-pop albums of 2022.
little god peaked at two on the Gaon Digital Chart. The seventh track of the album, Cold as Hell, debuted atop the Billboard World Digital Song Sales, becoming the second song of the singers to be on the list.
The South Korean singer’s ninth mini-album, Angel’s Breath, came just three months after EGO DEATH..
The title track, PLAY, also features Judy in a mature limelight, much like the previous releases. However, according to many SongBirds, this track feels more sophisticated than previous releases.
PLAY also made history for the singer. It became her first song to be nominated for a VMA award and the first time she performed at the VMAs. While she didn’t win the award, her performance secured her many more international fans, especially within the States. Her performance at the awards show went viral on social media, including Twitter and TikTok, primarily due to her stunning visuals and outstanding vocals.
JUDY opened the year 2023 with the single WICKED LOVE. WICKED LOVE went viral on TikTok for several reasons, from its lyrical message to the stunning visuals of the performance video.
GODDESS is JUDY's debut English album. This era’s promotion came and went in the blink of an eye. The album was announced three days before its release and was barely promoted in the English-language media.
After an abrupt three-month hiatus caused by her fiancée’s sudden passing, JUDY returned in February 2024 with the pre-release MOVIESTAR.
MOVIESTAR’s music video reached over 24 million views within 24 hours of its release and over one million pre-sales. The song would be the most streamed song by the singer, only being dethroned by the song LOVE IN (summer nights) months later. MOVIESTAR accumulated seventeen music show wins.
Content-wise, SongBirds received a lot, from behind-the-scenes content to live performances and a three-part documentary about the song's composition. However, due to this content, fans began worrying about the singer, many citing specific moments in videos where she looked distressed. Judy would release a statement: “I’m fine. I’m simply getting used to this life.”
The album that accompanied the pre-single, KILLING ME SOFTLY, was released on February 12, 2024. It comprises eleven tracks, including the pre-single and title track Killing Me.
KILLING ME SOFTLY beat out MOVIESTAR in pre-sales, with a whopping three million. However, it came short in streams, with the MV only reaching 19 million upon release.
JUDY decided to stop promoting the song on music shows and instead do live performance videos. This decision came after much discussion. Fans and many non-fans criticized Cult Creative. Many believed the company used the singer’s grief for monetary gain. Cult Creative has never responded to these accusations, not even acknowledging them.

Niall Horan brought his headlining tour, THE SHOW LIVE ON TOUR 2024, to Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee on Monday night (June 3), and delivered an impressive set that highlighted his evolution from boy band heartthrob to a bona fide rock star. The concert marked Horan’s first time headlining an arena in Nashville and follows his previous visits to Music City, when he headlined The Ryman Auditorium and Ascend Amphitheater.
Sold Out Concert At Bridgestone Arena In Nashville
The sold-out show served as a testament to the 30-year-old singer/songwriter’s solo success, drawing fans of all ages adorned in homemade merchandise and Niall Horan-inspired outfits, eagerly awaiting the former One Direction star’s arrival.
As the lights went dim, a pair of eyes appeared at the top of the stage and then a cinematic introduction was projected on a vintage theater style stage set up complete with curtains and clamshell foot lights, bringing an old school vibe that flawlessly fit Horan’s set.
“Good evening Nashville,” Horan shouted, greeting the crowd with a big smile on his face, as he exploded into a high-energy performance of his fan-favorite tune, “Nice To Meet Ya.”
”I Have Dreamt Long And Hard About This Night”
Donning a black leather vest, black tank, black pants, and a handkerchief in his pants pocket, Horan looked every bit of the rock star he has become and kept the crowd in the palm of his hand throughout the entire concert.
“Welcome to The Show Live On Tour Lovers! Holy smokes, this is insane, thank you so much for selling out the famous Bridgestone Arena for me. I really appreciate it,” Horan said graciously. ”I have dreamt long and hard about this night, and thank you so much for selling this arena out for me, it’s mind-boggling, I can’t believe I am here. Nashville is one of my favorite cities in the world, and I love coming here. I love the music in this town, I love writing in this town, and it feels like home here. I love it, so thank you so much for welcoming me back.”
He continued, “All the memories that I’ve had in this city over the years, I just love the place. There are some cities that just stand out to you and just make you feel comfortable, and Nashville and the people in it just make you feel like you’re at home.”
Surprise Guest: Noah Kahan
A highlight of the show was his intimate acoustic set. With the curtain shut behind him, Horan took to the microphone stand with just an acoustic guitar and delivered a raw and heartfelt performance of “Put A Little Love On Me,” followed by the crowd-pleaser, “This Town,” which featured a surprise guest, Noah Kahan.
“Since we’re in Nashville, there’s some good songwriters around the place,” Horan said before welcoming Kahan to the stage to join him for the performance. The excitement to see the “Stick Season” singer was palpable, as he was welcomed by deafening screams.
He concluded the acoustic set with “You Can Start A Cult.” After Horan wrapped his set, the capacity crowd offered thunderous stomps and applause demanding an encore, which Horan obliged and returned to the stage for a two song encore that included “Heartbreak Weather” and “Slow Hands.”
21-Song Set List
Horan’s 21-song set included songs from all three of his solo albums: Flicker (2017), Heartbreak Weather (2020) and The Show (2023). He also threw in a cover of One Direction’s hit, “Stockholm Syndrome,” a fan-favorite that prompted a massive sing-along during his set in Music City.
Throughout the concert, Niall Horan made it a point to connect with his fans on a personal level. He took a moment to read many of the handmade signs brought by fans, interacting with them in a way that made the massive arena feel intimate. His gratitude was evident as he thanked his fans multiple times, often becoming visibly emotional as he watched his dreams unfold before his eyes, with a capacity crowd singing along to every word.
“I just want to thank you all for the loyal support over the last 14 years, it’s just been absolutely bonkers. Whether you’ve been there since day one or you just watched The Voice and said ‘well, I like him,’ thank you I really appreciate your support, and I am so happy to be here in this arena tonight with you,” Horan exclaimed with a big smile emblazoned on his face.
From Boy Band Member To Solo Superstar
Niall Horan’s concert at Bridgestone Arena was more than just a performance; it was a celebration of his journey as an artist. From his days in One Direction to his impressive solo career, Horan has proven that he is a force to be reckoned with in the music industry. His genuine connection with his fans, coupled with his undeniable talent, made for an evening that Nashville will not soon forget. With this tour, it’s clear that Niall Horan is not just a former boy band member, but a solo superstar who has truly come into his own.
Niall Horan kicked off his world tour in February of 2024 in Belfast, UK, at the SSE Arena. The North American leg of the trek launched at Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Florida, on May 29, 2024. Produced by Live Nation, the stint will continue through the end of 2024.

hi!! i know you've posted some favorite liveshows before but as someone who gets easily overwhelmed choosing shows off the Archive i'd love to hear some more of your fave shows to listen to!
Hi!! Here's a handful of recs, but if you want a more specific vibe feel free to send another ask and I can definitely give more :)
2023-07-13 (Four-piece band configuration) is maybe my all-time favorite for sentimental reasons, since that was my first tMG concert ever. Primarily Bleed Out and The Sunset Tree, with a banger solo set of Jam Eater Blues/Commandante/From TG&Y/The Monkey Song. Crowd energy is really high and there's some delightful banter and interactions!
2017-11-11 (Four-piece band configuration) is a slightly older but still fairly recent one. Since they were touring Goths at the time, it's a pretty Goths-heavy setlist, with my all-time favorite rendition of Shelved, also featuring a really cool solo Night Light and a gorgeous full band rendition of Snow Crush Killing Song!
2021-08-06 (Five-piece band, with fifth goat Erin McKeown) is notable for being the first show back after a year and a half of lockdown, and the energy is palpable. Live debut of a lot of Getting Into Knives, featuring an unreleased song and one from the first tape, and overall really fantastic and high-energy from both the band and the audience. This show is the one I reach for when I've had a bad day.
2009-06-13 (John solo) was the first of two shows back-to-back at Zoop, and while I shy away from describing any shows as "definitive", the Zoop shows are big in the same way Bottom Of The Hill shows are big. This one features a really great range of older and more obscure songs, and if you like this one, there's another show directly following it!
2014-06-15 (John + Peter duo), speaking of Bottom Of The Hill, this is a favorite BotH show! They play the entirety of Taboo VI: The Homecoming, and to this day I've still never listened to the actual Taboo VI tape, just this performance. It's the third of three consecutive shows at BotH, and all three are worth a listen for sure, but this one is my go-to recommendation.
2024-03-01 (John solo) is probably one you've seen me recommend before. This solo show from earlier this year was at Grace Cathedral in San Francisco, and the atmosphere of it is haunting and gorgeous. The acoustics of the cathedral make a lot of these songs just immensely powerful - there's something about this Hast Thou Considered The Tetrapod that makes me cry pretty much every time I listen to it.
Additionally, no talk of live tape recs is complete without shouting out Emerald's live comps! You might know Emerald as The Sticker Lady, or if you've spent a few hours in queue with her, just an absolute delight of a human being and one of my favorite people in this community - she's seen tMG probably a hundred times, and each of her themed compilations are lovingly made with great skill and artistry.
(ETA: also worth including here, What's the Live Music Archive?)
Hopefully this is a decent enough rec list! I tried to keep a decent assortment of shows without being too overwhelming with options, but again, please feel free to drop another ask if you want more specific recs or anything. Happy listening!!
#txt#ask#transmissions from lyric#tmg#the mountain goats#tapes#gonna go ahead and toss this under my tag#resources#because its a good starting point for anyone curious about getting into the tapes!#also @ my friends who are also lma enthusiasts please feel free to add stuff!#i know my picks generally skew somewhat modern and are only a small range of what the lma collection has to offer :)

The former One Direction will perform in Chile on May 24 at the Bicentenario Stadium in La Florida with his "Faith in the Future" tour. We talked exclusively with the British star who went from being a teenage pop idol to a professional soccer player, and finally to consolidating his own more mature and rocking sound. This is the successful present of the artist who loves to sing as much as he loves to play ball.

[Translated from Spanish]
In 2022, Louis Tomlinson stepped on Chile for the first time alone to present his debut album "Walls". A bet that exceeded any expectation, because the madness was such that the British, that the former One Direction filled the Movistar Arena three times.
But that was not all, his fans had prepared a surprise for him that, as he confessed to La Cuarta, gave him "goosebumps." During the chorus of the song "Kill my mind", the young women organized themselves to coordinate the lights of their cell phones, creating a kind of mesmerizing wave, leaving the singer and his team speechless, so much so that the moment was recorded in his documentary "All of Those Voices". Moreover, the photo of one of those concerts was nothing more and nothing less than the poster.
But the music that makes him vibrate so much was not always his first choice in life. In 2013, just when the One Direction world tour that brought them to Chile was announced with two concerts at the National Stadium, Louis signed a contract with the League TwoDoncaster Rovers team, and only in 2017, two years after the group took an indefinite break, he was able to debut as a substitute in a match witnessed by more than five thousand fans.
“It's really an honor to be in the club where I spent most of my childhood," he wrote at the time on his Twitter account. However, the boy's dream stagnated when in 2020 and in the middle of the pandemic, he decided to launch himself as a soloist. All of his former bandmates had done it; it was his time.
Thus Louis - whom we recognize with nostalgia, familiarity, and a psychological interest - became one of the most important artists of his generation, adding milestones such as a billion streams on Spotify, numerous awards and being in the Guinness World Records book for breaking the record for the most watched live broadcast concert of a male soloist.
"I FEEL VERY GRATEFUL TO HAVE THAT LOVE HERE"
On the day of the interview with the newspaper, we arrived at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel where the interpreter stayed two days after a successful presentation at Tecate Pa'l Norte 2024 in Mexico, and a promotional step through Brazil. Despite the fatigue, he maintained a good attitude with the press, but mainly with his crowded fans outside the venue, who shouted his name from time to time.
Being in front of a pop idol who has spent half of his life on tour, in conferences and with a handful of iconic songs that marked more than a generation, is truly intimidating, but Louis makes anyone lower their guard because he welcomes you as if he were your friend. Wearing a pair of relaxed jeans, black t-shirt and sneakers in tune, he smiles and greets us in a friendly manner. Although he is surrounded by people who make up his team— overwhelming— but this is his natural environment; and thus begins a dialogue with La Cuarta about his two passions.
Q: Louis, you return to Chile in May after filling three arenas on your last visit, something historic! What will it be like to return with that powerful precedent?
Louis: I feel like my Spanish is coming back! I almost knew what you were asking (laughs). I'm very excited, I feel very lucky to be able to perform in an enclosure of that size in my... well, technically on my second solo tour. I feel very grateful to have that love and passion here. I'm mainly very excited about these shows.
Q: In several of your "Faith In the Future" songs, you talk about nostalgia, changes and the passage of time. Are they topics that you think about frequently or only arise when composing?
Louis: Yes, I would say that I am a little bit of a deep thinker. I think it helps me as a songwriter, but I also think that nostalgia is a great thing to write about. It’s a great topic to feel as a listener and also to write as a songwriter. And I'm also interested in psychology, so anything that makes the brain feel in a certain way, I think it's interesting.
Q: What would the 32-year-old Louis with a successful second album under his arm and a new tour say to the teenager who applied to The X Factor in 2010?
Louis: I would insist that he should do it. I think there is definitely an element, in every young person in that situation, there is something very terrifying that makes you want to start. But I would also tell you, what I have learned the most, to trust your instinct, trust that feeling and be brave to make decisions, the right decisions for yourself.
Q: Among those decisions is to be the last 1D member to make your solo career, and today we are here with "Faith In The Future" that sounds 100% yours. Looking back, how do you see the path has unwinded?
Louis: I feel very comfortable. The mentality I have now feels very different from the one I had when I started this trip as a soloist. I feel very blessed to be able to continue making music. But it's also a very nice feeling and it's something very new for me to feel so comfortable on stage and so comfortable when I'm making the music I want to make. In general, yes, I am very happy.
WHEN CHILE DRISTLED HIS SKIN
Q: Louis, I imagine there must be some time in your career when you said, wow, I did it!
Louis: You know, I used to resist that idea, ‘cuz for whatever reason, I don't know, I never wanted to give myself that, I suppose… my brain. But I have, I have started trying to have those moments more for myself. It often happens on the live show. It can be something that fans did together, like some kind of fan project. But also, even when I played the festival just now, in Mexico, that was one of those moments. I was kind of nervous going out there, and the audience was so vast, but people seemed to be having a good time. So yeah, it was great.
Q: Now that you mentioned the fan project, when you came to Chile, your followers prepared one for the song "Kill My Mind" that was beautiful. How did you experience it from the stage?
Louis: I had no idea that was going to happen! I know that fans often do their own little fan projects, in a way of doing something fun for me and something unique at every individual show, but I didn't know what to expect. And to be honest, that— literally gave me goosebumps, it was such an incredible spectacle. And, again, like always at these shows, and especially in Latin America, you’ve not got like ten people giving it a go, everyone in the room is participating! It’s a very euphoric thing for me to see from the stage.
Q: Changing the subject, football is one of your passions, what place does it occupy in your life today?
Louis: I would say that definitely, before I was in the band, nothing came close in my life, football was my IT. Now music is. I absolutely love football, but for me nothing comes close to music. Obviously it's my job, that's important, but as a fan, I'm talking more like a fan, I probably don't watch enough football these days, I'm usually busy, but I catch up with the "highlights" (the most important moments of the game). It's still a big part of my life, especially when they play in England. I'm excited for the next European Championship. We're going to win it!
Q: Of course! [England] is the parents of football. Finally, what makes you happiest today?
Louis: The family, definitely, the family and friends. And specifically in my work world. It's live concerts. That gives me amazing feelings.

Part 3: 70 Heart kisses 2016 on
This post is in three parts:
When Harry got the Heart tattoo
70 Heart Kisses (1D years), and
70 Heart Kisses continued. (Solo career)
The amazing @womanexile and @this-daydream-is-dangerous-13started this off with finding a good chunk of these. This is by no means a complete list, I think that would be impossible. It’s also important to note that only Harry knows what this tattoo is about, why he kisses it or if that is for one person and who that is.
2017
After no performances in 2016 the heart kiss returned with HS1 but less frequently. In early 2016 Harry and Taylor had been close but by 2017 Taylor was dating Joe and Harry was very emotional on stage. See 2017 timeline. Harry also started performing with a guitar which gave his arms something to do and I think less kisses as a result.
Late March 2017 - London- During his Behind the Album performance for HS1, he not only kissed the heart, he also kisses the guitar it’s thought she had given him as a gift! This was a major moment for Harry and one he was emotional in. He is good at first but there’s a head in hands moment at 28:10. Then, emotional. Time stamps 32:09 during Sweet Creature 37:48 guitar kiss during ESNY 52:45 kisses OTHER arm during SOTT (when he was explaining the rest of the concert to that nervous fan in July, he described this song as “emotional but hopeful” so maybe that’s a hopeful thing, that arm has ‘Things I can’/the Eagle)
13 May 2017 - London- secret gig at the Garage in Islington - pink pants black shirt 7:52 during Sweet Creature
19 May 2017 - Troubadour, LA, on the eve of their 5 year anniversary of May 20th, while performing Leather and Lace with Stevie Nicks (1:18), Harry started crying and kissed the heart. Harry was really excited throughout the show, they performed two ghosts as a duet after which he said he was losing his s*** (but in a cool way, with a point to presumably James).
28 September 2017 - Radio City NY - Story of my life may have an aborted arm kiss (2:30) FTDT also (3:35). On Harry and Taylor’s 28 September anniversary. Taylor marked the day with a 70 song ‘Taylor loves’ Spotify playlist.
14 October 2017 - Phoenix - During Meet me in the Hallway (1:39). After “I walked the streets all day” before “running with the thieves”. This was Harry's last US show and he returned to Europe. His next show was in Paris where he cried twice in FTDT on 'even my phone misses your call' twice. (1:55 and again 3:30)
2 November 2017 - Glasgow- Sweet Creature on “you bring me home” (maybe, this tour had tricky lighting) (2:19) Kiwi and Reputation were released soon after.
2018
12 June 2018 - Nashville - Sweet Creature (2:45) Harry moves to kiss his arm but doesn’t after “you bring me home” he was in Taylor’s home city.
30 June 2018 - Chicago - Sweet Creature, a possible other arm kiss (5:11). Taylor and Harry were both in Chicago, Taylor played New Years Day with an introduction about jumping into icy pools that Taylor Nation has cut from their version.
2 July 2018 - St Paul - Only Angel - the other arm at 3:30 and the heart at 4:33. On the same night Harry changed the lyric of “running with wolves” to “running with you” (2:00) Taylor had played this stadium the night she had the temper trap song as arm lyrics which Harry tattooed on its anniversary. Taylor had been in nearby Chicago when Harry was there the day before and not seen this day.
In July 2020 Taylor released Cardigan with a reference to a ‘Tattoo Kiss’:
2021
The later we go the less we really know about what is going on. The heart kisses may also have different meanings.
The 2021 timeline is interesting, starting with talking at the Grammy’s then the Brits, Harry finished writing Harry’s House and Taylor started Midnights in this period.
22 September 2021 - St Paul - Falling, with Two Ghosts intro (4:31). Wildest Dreams TV was released a few days earlier, Harry and Taylor had spent time in St Paul in the past.
25 September 2021 - Chicago - Falling, at the end twice with a smile and again during Adore you. When Harry last played Chicago Taylor was also there.
21 October 2021 - Uncasville, during thank you speech. Harry and Taylor had been in Nashville at the same time earlier that month when Harry had written Satellite.
25 October 2021 - Boston - Falling. An old selfie of Joe and Taylor from 2016 leaked a few days earlier.
27 October 2021 - Atlanta - the start of Falling (0:09) right arm kiss. On the anniversary of 1989’s release. On the same day Taylor posted an instagram reel captioned ‘Basic autumn lovers RISE’ reenacting a 2014 Tumblr post including trying lyrics to ATW ‘Just between us did he love affair maim you too?’
10 November 2021 - Sacramento - Falling - on ‘it kills me we have run out of things to say’ link. Harry wore Red to celebrate the Re-record of Red TV, which is the first of Taylor's albums with songs about Harry.
13 November 2021 - Arizona, Falling with Two Ghosts intro (2:17), Red TV was released the day before.
19 November 2021 - LA, The Forum, in the welcome speech after thanking his support act. Taylor was in Panama to visit Joe, after Taylor returned for the All Too Well premier she wrote the majority of Midnights including You’re Losing Me.
28 November 2021 - Long Island - Falling (4:08) Right arm kiss. After this show Harry was MIA and Olivia seen alone. The next week, Taylor wrote You’re Losing me and wore a Gucci Lion Ring to a party.
2022
As above, we know less about Harry’s relationships now, however the 2022 timeline is also interesting. Taylor completed Midnights and based on it’s lyrics, her relationship with Joe was not great. Harry released Harry’s House and at the end of the year broke up with Olivia.
20 May 2022 - NYC - ONO - start of Satellite (1:13) another link. On Harry’s House Release, an important life event, in New York, on the anniversary of 20 May at the start of performing Satellite for the first time.
26 June 2022 - Hamburg during his welcome speech when introducing the support act. Harry was on his European tour dates, in the last months of dating OW. These were the first months of Harry touring the Harry’s House songs.
29 June 2022 - Stockholm - introducing Matilda (1:12 and again at 1:36) Harry said it was great to be back in Sweden (he once tweeted that same phrasing at a time Taylor was MIA in Europe and he posted a colour IG photo) and that he is happiest performing.
1 July 2022 - Oslo when inducing Matilda, Harry told the story about the party bus, that Oslo has a special place in his heart then that Matilda has nothing to do with that story but is special. (1:50) and again when introducing WMYB (0:06)
11 July 2022 - Munich during Adore You and LOML. (Better view of loml)
16 July 2022 Vienna - during Adore you, after the crowd saying let me adore you and him saying “okay”
5 July 2022 - Paris - after saying “I love Paris” while introducing As It Was. Harry and Taylor have referenced Paris many times as special to them.
31 July 2022 - Lisbon - start of Kiwi (12:49)
1 August 2022 - Toronto - cinema - kissed the eagle covering ‘things I can’ after “it’s you, and I’m not getting over it” previous kisses have been after break ups indicating wanting to change something
10 September 2022- Madison Square Garden Night 12, LOML. Harry and Taylor were both in NY, Harry started a 5 week stint of wearing the Peace Ring. Neither Harry & Olivia or Taylor & Joe seemed friendly, with both break ups announced in coming months.
27 October 2022 - LA - introducing WMYB (day music for a sushi restaurant dropped and 1989 anniversary). Taylor was on the Graham Norton show talking about the re-records and announcing the Eras tour.
29 October 2022 - LA N5 in Sign of the Times
31 October 2022 - Harryween LA Timestamp 1:50 during LOML before it's unfortunate..
2023
The later we go the less we really know about what is going on. The heart kisses may also have different meanings.
The 2023 timeline is interesting, Harry had separated from Olivia, Taylors separation from Joe was announced. They were both on tour and both replaced setlist songs with older Haylor songs.
29 January 2023 - Los Angeles, Forum Night 15 - Love of My Life - Anatomical Heart Kiss (0:42) Harry also played Medicine! Between filming Satellite and the Grammy’s
31 January 2023 - Palm Springs - during Matilda , after the lyric ‘make your tea and your toast’. (2:13) The week before Harry put Little Freak in the HSLOT set
21 February 2023 Perth LOML, During woman re-added to the setlist.
28 Feburary 2023 - Gold Coast, QLD - during Satellite after “do you want to talk?” (4:48)
13 June 2023 - Wembley - kissed other arm (0:06) during Grapejuice and kissed the Heart Tattoo during As It Was after “...and I’m the one who will stay” (0:41) The day before Taylor played All You Had to Do was Stay as a Surprise Song on the 10th June. Harry played Best Song Ever intro to WMYB.
17 June 2023 - Wembley - at the end of Sweet Creature Harry went to kiss the tattoo and stopped himself then looked at the crowd with a cheeky embarrassed look. (3:16). Gemma had a baby 8 months later. Taylor had a particularly emotional show that night. She gave an extra wild Champagne Problems speech and extra long and weird Betty Speech and had Aaron Dessner out to play Seven and hugs Taylor at the end. Later a photo of TR sitting with Jeff in one of the Wembley crowds surfaced months later. Interestingly, this is the anniversary of Taylors 2011 Lover Journal entry days after Harry was MIA in the US when Taylor had the Temper Trap arm lyrics in St Paul.
18 June 2023 - Wembley link Wembley n1 during as it was another link. I think the show above sums this up. Cruel Summer was officially released as a single 2 days later.

It seemed only a matter of time before Julien Baker would combust. Monday at the first of a sold-out three-night residency at Thalia Hall, the singer-songwriter performed with the kind of extreme intensity that can be difficult to watch and feels both thrilling and draining to witness. She made it impossible for anyone to look away, and matched the fervor of her lyrics with spontaneous body language and unfiltered banter that underlined her tightly wound passion.
Raw and unscripted, the 90-minute concert marked a memorable way to start a tour, Baker’s first headline outing in two years. Aside from sticking to an apparent setlist, the 28-year-old approached the show by refusing to trade in predictability or artifice. Backed by a five-piece band amid a spartan stage setup, and venturing deep into her catalog, she stood as the antithesis of most peers and predecessors with her degree of success.
Nervous, excited, jittery, sincere and occasionally unable to keep her focus, Baker operated on a wavelength that brought her to an eye-to-eye level with fans and established her as a relatable person rather than an untouchable, unknowable celebrity. That didn’t mean she didn’t take her craft seriously. Indeed, Baker’s recurrent concerns about getting everything right, her admitted apprehension over remembering words and playing tunes alone, demonstrated a heightened conscientiousness and unguarded honesty few entertainers openly share.
Yes, Baker and company erred at several points, though her worries about the hoarseness of her voice — she said she overtaxed it in rehearsals — largely proved unfounded when she opened her mouth to sing. The various missteps and imperfections felt as if they belonged and, oddly enough, enhanced the fearlessness and courage with which Baker addressed harrowing topics ranging from mental illness and violent abuse to debilitating doubt and loneliness.
For all the pain and anguish in her songs, Baker continues to enjoy an ascent that a majority of burgeoning musicians would envy. Her still-developing career is evidence that listeners can still suss out singular talent even in a pop-culture landscape overstuffed with countless options and here-today-gone-tomorrow hypes vying for attention.
A decade ago, using studio time given to her by a friend, Baker recorded what became her debut in just three days while studying to be a teacher at Middle Tennessee State University. Though she didn’t expect many people outside her immediate orbit to hear them, the songs became a word-of-mouth sensation. After an indie imprint signed her and formally released the material as the “Sprained Ankle” LP, Baker landed on record-label radars and major media outlets’ best-of-year lists.
Virtually overnight, the Tennessee native went from pursuing a college education to headlining a national tour. She shared a compelling backstory that included candid details about her evangelical upbringing, battles with addictions and decision as a teenager to come out as queer to her parents. Baker’s critically acclaimed sophomore album (“Turn Out the Lights,” 2017) further expanded her profile and, the following year, she formed Boygenius with Lucy Dacus and Phoebe Bridgers.
Despite releasing just two EPs and one full-length to date, Boygenius has won three Grammy Awards and cultivated enough interest that it finished touring last fall with a capacity show at the Hollywood Bowl.
Who knows, Baker’s own material might work in such settings, but its personal intimacy and intricate architecture — moody violins, atmospheric keyboards, spare guitars, chamber-inspired orchestrations — are better-suited for halls and theaters. Her three solo turns on Monday, which included the disarming “Guthrie” and a searing rendition of “Something” during which every utterance of the titular word registered as a self-inflicted gutpunch, benefited from the coziness of the mid-sized venue.
Wearing a white button-down shirt and jeans, with her hair pulled into a ponytail bun, Baker, too, appeared comfortable in an environment in which she could forge a close bond with the audience. Having previously dealt with stage fright, she revealed she no longer enjoys playing without a support band and encouraged anyone who knew the words to sing along. With rare exception, the latter request went unheeded. The hushed crowd treated Baker’s emotional outpourings with reverence of scripture.
During the faintest moments, the faint hum of amplifiers framed Baker’s delicate vocals. Expressed as whispers, asides, exhales and shudders, her gentle singing confirmed quiet moments can have as much volume as full-throated cries. Well-placed screams and howls also figured in Baker’s repertoire. She frequently delivered loud passages when standing feet away from the microphone stand or shifting her stance.
The movements altered her words’ pitch, and instilled the sensation that she was either trying to flee a bad situation, engaged in a heated confrontation or yelling into an abyss. Even with a guitar or keyboard shielding her rail-thin physique, Baker couldn’t disguise the physical impact the songs registered on her body or the anxiety they triggered in her mind.
Pointing at her temple, running her hands through her hair, covering her mouth with her forearm, shaking her head, squeezing her eyes shut, unconsciously transferring the weight from one leg to another: Baker looked as if she’d pull the bones out from beneath her skin as she chronicled traumas, faults and hurts with unsparing conviction. Far more dynamic live than on the studio recordings, the taut rhythmic structures of the songs accentuated the struggles with faith, forgiveness and optimism the singer explored via bruised, bloodied narratives.
Baker’s music is not generally fun or always easy to digest, particularly given the explicit references to suicidal thoughts, toxic relapses, self-destructive behaviors and all manner of failures. Yet it often sounded momentous and freeing — the balladic frameworks of fare such as “Crying Wolf” and “Funeral Pyre” beautiful and melodic, the crashing urgency of “Tokyo” and “Hardline” effervescent and cathartic — and spoke to vital issues without coming across as self-serving.
“I’m so (expletive) happy, you just can’t (expletive) tell,” Baker announced, typically subdued and aware of the irony, as she explained how much playing matters to her. She later gave a few clearer signs of her temperament. Baker climbed atop the drum riser to bash out punk-style chords on her electric guitar; stomped around and double-over her instrument during another explosive sequence and, ultimately, let her hair fall over her shoulders.
That, and led the band through two live premieres (the obscure seven-inch B-side “Conversation Piece,” the brand-new and unreleased “Middle Children”) and waged a conflicted war for snatching some semblance of goodness out of the jaws of despair. In the fractured episodes of “Ziptie,” “Appointments” and “Ringside,” Baker didn’t identify fixed solutions or guaranteed redemption. Still, the songs hit on the potential of mercy and hope, and of trying against all odds to conquer sensations of dread, sadness and emptiness.
For Baker, and everyone now struggling to reconcile the notions of kindness and decency against the evils that humans continue to do to one another and the planet, it’s a start to a long-overdue conversation.

Circa Survive’s Anthony Green on his life and music: “I feel very fresh in the world.”
[part 1 of gallery, text under the cut]
Newly thirty-six, Anthony Green reflects on his life and career at a time when he’s never felt more alive.
Anthony Green is lying on the floor in the second of three green rooms located behind the main stage of The Intersection in Grand Rapids, Michigan. There’s a foam roller under his back, working out the knot and sore spots from what feels like a lifetime on the road, and there’s a half-drank smoothie sitting by his side. “My day is good,” he says while flashing a smile, “ I woke up this morning, and I play a rock and roll concert tonight. That’s the best day of my life.”
By these standards, Green has been living the best day of his life nearly every day for the past week. It’s March 30, and Circa Survive has recently launched a Spring tour with support from Foxing and Hail The Sun. The trip is the band’s first proper headlining run since the release of their sixth studio album, The Amulet, in September of 2017. The band has been on the road nonstop, but this string of performances offers more ownership of production than other recent outings.
“This is the first week, and it’s going great,” he explains, still stretching on the floor. “It’s always weird getting back out for me. I have these two completely different lifestyles, me being home and then me being on tour, so transitioning is always a little bit tough, but it was pretty seamless this time. We’ve been having more fun this week than we have in the last like year or two. We did a bunch of co-headlines over the last year, and that is always kind of weird. You never really know what’s going on. They were with our friends’ bands and everything, so it was cool, but, I don’t know, this feels good.”
The production for this tour is scarce but impactful. A mostly empty stage provides ample room for Green and the other members of Circa Survive to move as the band is illuminated by a flurry of lights, most notably lead by an arch of fixtures affixed to the back wall. Green says the idea came to him in a dream, and when he woke he asked the band’s Lighting Director to make it a reality.
“I think it happened right around Christmas time,” he says, remembering the dream in question. “It was slightly different, but it was just like that sort of half arch just going down, so it sort of kind of brought this little glow that created a focal point rather than some extravagant thing. It was simple, and I liked that.”
To hear Green use the term “simple” in regards to anything he’s creating or created can be cause for laughter amongst fans. Whether he’s writing as part of a larger group or working alone, Green has been heralded for his unique voice and perspective since for the better part of twenty years, in part because of its complexity. His most devoted fans spend hours, even days, working to decipher the meaning behind every line of every song he’s ever written. The mystery of it all is part of the fun, and that goes for Green as well. Even now, with his thirty-sixth birthday taking in April, he’s as excited as ever about the life he leads.
“I feel so fucking young; it’s so fucking weird. I don’t feel like I’m thirty-six. I see guys who are also thirty-six, and they’re dropping their kids off with me at their school, or taking part in father-son day at school, and I’m like, “dude, am I like that?”
Green shakes his head and laughs before continuing, “ But I’m so punk! I’m not like that! But, it feels terrific. It’s weird because I think if you were to ask me four or five years ago, I would’ve said I felt old. I saw an interview with myself from when I was thirty where I talked about feeling old, back when I was out of shape. It took me a long while to figure this life out, and I feel like if there’s a calendar of figuring it out, then I finally got to the first day. I’m like, “Okay! I got something under my belt now!” And I’m starting over. So I feel very fresh in the world.”
Before talk can turn to plans for celebration, Green explains he’s ultimately not all that concerned birthdays, or at least with his own.
“I woke up today and thought about how I get to play a concert today. At home are my beautiful children and wonderful wife, out here are my incredible friends and my career that couldn’t be better, and I have a multitude of creative people in my life that I can go and make something from. I can say the most fucked up shit that I feel and think and share that with people and feel not alone. So birthdays are kind of like, who needs a birthday? Who needs to do that? Every day of my life I’m like. ‘holy shit, I’m alive. I’m doing this.”
This moment brings Green back to a previous conversation had with the same interviewer, which took place in August of 2017. At the time, Green was making one final summer trip with his family before Circa Survive released The Amulet and his schedule demanded he returned to the road. Green had taken the call while at a then-unnamed beach, and upon remembering the moment, his eyes grow wide with wonder.
“We were at Avalon,” he says, his voice conveying longing to preserve that memory forever. “We just rented a house for two weeks for when this is all over — I’m doing this tour for my first [solo] record, Avalon. It’s a ten-year tour that will run in the summer until early August, and then the day after that we stay down there. The last show is in Asbury Park, and then we go to Avalon for two weeks and go to the beach every day.”
Discussing the passing time with anyone can be a tricky matter. Even artists who are celebrating what some may consider milestones in their career can view such occasions through an entirely different lens. Perhaps the album we celebrate as the best is one they regret, or maybe the fact it is so beloved in comparisons to other work they may feel is better has caused them to grow tired of their creation. Green admits he has not always looked back on himself fondly, but as he’s matured so has his outlook on life.
“I think we created this culture of, “oh, I feel old,” but I think we’re going to change the tides of that to like, yo, that’s an important thing! Like, yes, to endure something and be stronger and to grow and to age and to learn is a beautiful, beautiful thing where it happens as a culture, as a society, or as an individual, I haven’t always celebrated that, and maybe it’s because it’s happening to me. Maybe it’s just because of that fact that I recognize it, but I’m smarter now than I was when I was 20. I was such a dumbass, such a prick. I was such a piece of shit, you know? So I’m grateful to be 36 and to be still able to do this.”
Green has certainly put in his time as a musician. He formed his first band while still in high school, making his career in music something that arguably been a part of his life for over twenty years. Throughout those two decades, he has played a pivotal in the development, popularity, and continued existence of alternative music. He would never admit to any of this, nor would he accept the credit if you tried to give it. For him, music is far more personal pursuit, and one that continues to surprise.”
“There’s a song on my upcoming solo record where the chorus is, “keep your mouth shut.” The lyric “keep your mouth shut” goes to back to literally to when I was in the fucking band Saosin writing stuff down for song ideas. Later, on maybe the second Circa Survive tour, it came up again. We have these improvisational moments worked into songs in the live show, and I started using “keep your mouth shut” again during that time. Now, all these years later, it finally made it into the course of a song. It’s exciting. It’s an exciting thing for me to think that when I sit down to write at night when my kids are in bed, it’s 9:30, 10:00, and I’m exhausted, and I’m going to write until 2:00 in the morning. It brings me a feeling of validation or comfort knowing that something I might write tonight might come into use when I’m fifty! I want to put in the work.”
Optimistic as the previous statement may sound, Green is unsure he has another ten years in the industry. He hopes that is the case, and he’s working hard to be optimistic, but he’s also a realist.
“To me,” he begins, “I almost look at my career as just a dream, and I’m operating within it as a dream, and it’s awesome. It’s not going to be forever though. I know I’m going to wake up. I get a lot of much joy out of just finishing a song and being able to share it. I don’t need to have a certain amount of likes. Its existence is all that matters, and so that’s kind of what I’m focusing on right now, is so when this is all something…when I can’t move my body like this anymore, people don’t like my voice, or whatever it is, that I am still in this relationship with the muse and with the thing that’s been blessing me with the true feeling of why this is important from the very beginning. It’s not because somebody tells you that you’re good, and it’s not even because somebody is there reflecting your same feelings, it’s a self-contained, self-created tool.”
Green could probably discuss the muse and his interaction with it for hours. Ten years ago he could probably speak on it even longer, but the man he was at twenty-six could never have predicted the father of four he would become now. His career has never been in a healthier position than it is right now, yet that matters very little in comparison to life Green leads off the road. He tries his best to be in the moment, something he swears to be working on daily, but he’ll be the first to admit such behavior is sometimes hard to justify.
“You can’t always just be in the moment because things happen. People get pregnant, people get hurt, you have to think about the future, and you have to think about consequences, but I try not to go too far into what’s going to be. I can imagine lots of things, but when I’m expired, I want my children to undoubtedly be able to say that they had the best experience with their dad. All of this stuff is awesome, and I love this, it’s a fun game I get to play. Still, the most important thing to me is that when I’m not here that they’re able to say that they had a true relationship with me and that they knew me better than anybody else.”
Fatherhood didn’t come easy for Green. Much like his renewed outlook on life itself, Green feels he is very much only now beginning to understand how to be a dad.
“In a lot of ways I’m just waking up,” he says with a smile as wide as his face will allow. “I had kids, and even when James was a little boy, I was doing my best, but I didn’t know what to do, and I was judging things and judging myself. I was doing a lot of work to hide all of my anxiety and all of my stress and all of my insecurities from people; it was tearing me apart. I think that it took a lot of tough experiences and lots of processing work, going to therapy, talking to people in my life that I care about, talking to my kids, talking to my dad, and thinking about what kind of fucking person do I want to be? What do I want out of this? What is the point, you know? To me, it all boils down to them and those boys. I love making music, and it is in a lot of ways the only thing that even comes close to those boys and in a lot of ways those boys, they’ll never… nothing will ever be the same as what music is for me. Music is the greatest passion of my life, and it can’t compare it to the love that I have for a child or a human being because it’s greater than that, it’s beyond us. It’s beyond who I think I am or who I pretend to be out in the world. It’s like a real spiritual thing. It’s nature. It’s something we can’t describe. It’s like the way they talk about God. That’s the way I feel about it.”
The happiness being expressed by Green at this moment is different than anything he’s conveyed up to this moment in the conversation. He, and perhaps everyone else present for this discussion, has realized that life is where he wishes it to be at this moment. More importantly, he appreciates the fleeting nature of the balance he’s been able to attain and wants to make the most of it.
“We see things all the time from this perspective of “oh this is hard, oh this is awful” or whatever, it’s so incredible. You’re so incredible to long for somebody or to miss somebody or to have loved something, you know? And if you want to focus on the thing that it’s temporary, that’s the reason why it’s so great! Because it’s not forever, it’s finite! It’s like a flower, you know? And our relationships, our life is like the most beautiful part of the blooming of the flower. It would be nothing; it wouldn’t be a joy if it were forever.”
He continues, “The thing about life is that you’re constantly getting reminded that it’s the last of something. The last time you do something, the last time you see someone, etc. We as people want to be comforted by the fact that everything’s going to be great forever, And that’s why we’re so fucked up. We can’t accept that things aren’t going to feel good. They’re not going to feel good. You’re not going to be happy all the time. You’re going to be fucking miserable, sometimes, and it’s important, and you have to go through it. A hermit crab when it goes from one shell to another goes through the most excruciating pain; it’s a thing that happens to it so it knows to get the fuck out of there so it can grow. Without that pain, we’d never grow, never change shells, or live. We need it!”
When asked how his kids feel about their father’s chosen career path, Green explains how he’s instilled a grounded perspective on his work. He’s no rock star, nor would he ever want to be called one. When people ask his kids if they know their father is someone famous they reply by informing the person who is speaking that their dad is not famous, just a musician.
“Famous people suck,” he says, having paused his stretching long enough to take a drink of his still unfinished smooth. “I don’t want to be thought of ever like that. I want people who like our band to know that they can come right over to me and talk to me and then if I’m weird about it, it’s because of the thing that makes me weird that makes me make the music thing. It’s not because I hate them or I think I’m better than them; it’s because it’s weird to have people do that to you. I hate it; we are anti-rockstar anti-all of that stuff. We’re like performance artists.”
Rising to the floor with plans to begin yoga in a few minutes, Green takes one last moment to reflect on his place in life and what the future might hold. He appears to have no interest in spoiling the fun of the unknown, but he is striving to better overall. He’s learned happiness comes not from the journey itself and not one particular moment or destination. It is what you make it, and he’s not done building just yet.
“I witness artists getting older, and it seems that many have lost touch with themselves. Some artists are growing, but I have some contemporaries — which I will not name — that make music that makes me wonder if they are making noise only to keep going? It doesn’t sound to me like they give a shit. It feels like they’re just trying to make their fans happy or something, or like they’re fighting to remain relevant. You have to fearlessly not give a fuck about that shit and know that you’re not relevant. You never were! Just because a fucking magazine put you on the cover once doesn’t mean you were relevant. They trick themselves to think that they’re not, that they were and now they’re not anymore. You never were. You’re only as relevant as how honest you can be with yourself and [that music] does not sound honest, so fuck off, you know?
Four or five years ago I was in such a dark place that I thought about killing myself. Coming out of that was like a rebirth, and I still feel that renewed excitement over life every day? So it’s weird. I feel like when I look back on when I thought the band was relevant, I thought the band was anything, we’ve never been as in tune with each other as we are now, and I think that’s what makes it relevant. It’s relevant to me.”

Chaeri as the 8th and youngest member of BTS.
Chaeri's masterlist
❒ member: Jin
❒ genre: fluff fluff fluff
❒ words: 1.1k+
❒ summary: In which Jin takes Chaeri to Coldplay concert.
❒ notes: Happy Easter to whoever celebrates it! I hope you are resting and enjoying your free time this weekend. I enjoyed those days because I managed to buy tickets for a Coldplay concert that will be held in my city in a few months. Finally working so hard is paying off for me in some way :) That's why I wrote this little piece of Chaeri and Jin's life excited about the thought that I will soon be having such an experience. Be happy for me, I have been waiting for this moment for a long time!
❒ warnings: mentions of disbanding; Had to repost this 'cause something keeps f*cking up the ones I upload
Fix you
April, 2017
Disbanding.
She had been having nightmares since that word started to be part of their conversations more often than she wanted to hear it.
Their success had begun to skyrocket drastically in recent times, leading them to achievements and recognition they never imagined. Of course, fame and popularity came at a cost though.
The highest one to pay was definitely their mental health.
It was becoming more and more difficult to have a private life, to be able to go out without being escorted by at least a couple of bodyguards, to visit a place without it being mobbed by fans who wanted to meet them at all costs, to spend time with their family without exposing them to risk.
Was it worth it?
That was what members wondered, as the days, weeks, months passed. As the whole rottenness of the KPOP industry poured over them, choking them until they could no longer breathe, making them live with the constant fear of making a mistake on camera and being labeled forever for that one, banal slip-up.
They needed time off.
That's why, when Coldplay's tour stop in Seoul was announced for that April, Jin didn't pass up the opportunity to buy two tickets: One for him and one for the youngest of the group.
As lifelong fans of the British group, the boy thought that such a night would be good for both of them.
As Chaeri and Jin took their seats at the Coldplay concert, Chaeri couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement coursing through her veins. This was her first time experiencing a concert as a fan rather than a performer, and she was eager to soak up every moment of it "I can't believe we're really here. This is like a dream come true."
Jin smiled at her, "I know what you mean. I've been waiting for this moment for so long."
"Thank you, oppa. This is the most amazing gift you could have given me" To him, she was like a little sister, and he was determined to make sure she had a night to remember "Anything for my little brat"
The arena quickly grew pitch black, and the audience erupted in a roar of delight. Chaeri and Jin felt a thrilling chill run up their spines as a single spotlight shone down on Chris Martin, standing atop the sprawling stage. They were both awestruck by his presence; it wasn't just about seeing a superstar musician, but embodying the feeling of euphoria that this incredible artist brought to thousands upon thousands of people every night. The music was mesmerizing, transporting them both into another world as they sang along with their fellow fans. Every song gave way to new waves of emotion, culminating in an unforgettable experience.
The thunderous beat of 'A Sky Full of Stars' filled the atmosphere, vibrating through every fiber of Chaeri and Jin's beings. The colorful LED bracelets that adorned their wrists illuminated the entire arena like a blanket of stars. With each pulse of the music, the bracelets bled into new colors, casting an ethereal glow on everything around them. Every time Chaeri lifted her arm or Jin waved his hand, the colors swirled in a dizzying kaleidoscope. It was as if they were commanding the stars themselves to dance for them. The whole experience felt like being in another world - one where light and sound were the only forms of communication.
Chaeri gazed up in awe at the sea of lights above them, feeling like they were a part of something bigger than themselves. She reached out to touch one of the glowing stars above her head, but instead felt Jin's hand grasp hers, pulling her closer to him. The moment was electric, pulsing with life and energy. They swayed together along with the beat, lost in each other and lost in the magic of it all.
"I love you Chris Martin" She cupped her hands around her mouth to scream as loudly as she could "I love you Coldplay" at the second enthusiastic shout Jin joined in. Their voices were lost in the thousands of others who were there that night, yet they felt they were louder than they had ever been on stage.
As the chords of "Fix You" echoed through the stadium, its lyrical beauty pierced their hearts. It felt like this song was written specifically for them; every word gently cradled their souls and gave them solace in a time of hardship. Every single note seemed to understand their struggles, melancholy, and pain. It was as if the music had been woven from their own words:
"When you try your best but you don't succeed.
When you get what you want but not what you need.
When you feel so tired but you can't sleep. Stuck in reverse. And the tears come streaming down your face.
When you lose something you can't replace.
When you love someone but it goes to waste.
Could it be worse?"
When the song reached its climax, and Martin sang
"Lights will guide you home, and ignite your bones.
And I will try to fix you,"
Chaeri felt tears almost streaming down her face.
Jin tenderly grasped her soft hand, and pulled her in close with the crook of his arm. Together they swayed to the melody of the song. He looked into her teary eyes and whispered reassuringly, "We'll fix each other."
"I don't want it to end, you all are my home"
Jin smiled gently at her, "You'll always have a home with us, Chaeri. No matter what happens, we'll always be a family" And with that, he pulled her into a warm embrace, holding her tight as the song played on.
Chaeri felt a sense of comfort and safety in Jin's embrace, and she held onto him just as tightly. She knew that no matter what happened in the future, they would always have this moment to look back on, this moment of pure joy and happiness.
As the concert wound down, and Coldplay took their final bows, Chaeri and Jin made their way out of the arena, arm in arm. The night sky was filled with stars, just like the bracelets that had illuminated their wrists earlier. For a moment, they both stood there, gazing up at the twinkling lights, lost in their own thoughts.
"I want to make more memories like this," Chaeri finally said, breaking the silence. "Memories that we can hold onto when things get tough. That's why I think tonight should not end here."
Jin looked at her, puzzled. "What do you mean?" he asked.
Chaeri smiled mischievously and leaned in close to whisper her idea into his ear. Jin's eyes widened as he heard what she had on mind, and a playful smirk spread across his face. He tightened his grip around her waist and whispered back, "Let's do it."

See Pro-Shot Video Of LINKIN PARK Performing 'Heavy Is The Crown' In London
LINKIN PARK has shared professionally filmed video of the band's performance of the song "Heavy Is The Crown" on September 24 at O2 Arena in London, United Kingdom. Check it out below.
LINKIN PARK's setlist for the London concert included two new songs, "The Emptiness Machine" and the aforementioned "Heavy Is The Crown", both of which will appear on the band's upcoming album "From Zero", due on November 15 via Warner. It will mark LINKIN PARK's first full-length effort since 2017's "One More Light", which was the last LINKIN PARK album before the death of lead vocalist Chester Bennington.
London marked the fourth concert of LINKIN PARK's comeback mini-tour, following dates in Los Angeles, New York and Hamburg. All four shows featured LINKIN PARK performing a two-hour set on a high-tech stage shaped like an aircraft carrier, allowing for a unique production as well as a greater-than-usual number of tickets sold at each venue.
As was the case with the Los Angeles, New York and Hamburg shows, the London gig showcased LINKIN PARK's new singer Emily Armstrong and drummer Colin Brittain, who have joined returning members Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, Dave "Phoenix" Farrell and Joe Hahn in the band's new lineup. Guitarist Alex Feder is filling in for Delson at all LINKIN PARK concerts for the foreseeable future.
"Heavy Is the Crown" is the 2024 League Of Legends World Championship Anthem, marking the band's first collaboration with Riot Games.
Late last month, LINKIN PARK added three November dates to the "From Zero" tour, in Paris, Dallas, and São Paulo.
