NOTE: A gorgeous limited edition lithograph of a work by the great Roy Lichtenstein, complete with its original publishers mount/matting. It is in mint condition - professionally stored in a private collection since it was produced - and will look striking properly framed. Very good value and strong investment potential.

From 1963 to 1968, Chiron Press was the ground-zero of the fledgling Pop Art scene. Founded in a tiny storefront on 614 East 11th Street in New York City, it was the first print atelier in New York City, indeed in the country, devoted to screen printing for artists. Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Larry Rivers, James Rosenquist, and Claes Oldenburg were just a handful of the artists who made silkscreen prints at Chiron.

LITHOGRAPHY Please note that a lithograph is not just an ordinary print. It is the most complicated and highest quality form of printing. Put simply, each colour is printed as a separate plate, meaning that the colour can be matched as closely as possible to the original colour used by the artist. Lithography is rarely used today because it is a far more expensive process. The simplest way to tell if a print is a lithograph or an ordinary print is this: take a magnifying glass and look closely at the print. If it is another type of print or an ordinary print you will see under the magnifying glass a matrix of tiny uniform dots. If it is a lithograph you will not see this dot pattern.
