Touya finding out Shouto failed the provisional license exam, something he himself had to pass in order to participate in UA's ambush simulation for legal reasons.

Touya: Weren't you going to do some celebrating thing for Shouto passing the exam?

Fuyumi: He didn’t pass.

Touya: *snorts tea through his nose* He fucking what now?

So anyway, even in this AU, Touya is still a brat living in the madness of his own mind. And after the whole incident on top of Machia, that seems pretty on brand for him.

In retrospect, it's interesting that the idea of a new All for One appearing even if original All for One is dead was first introduced in chapter 130.

Though the reasoning for it here is a little different. In All Might's view, a new All for One is inevitable in a superhuman society as there will always be evil powers that people will want to use. Closer to the end of the manga after the readers were given the backstories of characters like All for One and Shigaraki, concerns about a new All for One center around the chaos and trauma experienced by vulnerable people in a collapsing system.

Also, Horikoshi is setting up a couple of parallels in this scene. Sir Nighteye made this "you can't even smile" comment because All Might was bearing so much of the burden he couldn't keep up his trademark smile. Bakugou made the same observation about Izuku in the Villain Hunt Arc. Also, this image of the injured hero determinedly limping through the hospital to continue their self-appointed mission is repeated when Lady Nagant goes to fight Shigaraki in the second war arc.

honestly? himiko and ochako's climax and ending (aside from himiko dying obvs) was written great. like genuinely that fight is amazing. i DO think their dynamic wasn't set up anywhere near well enough though. the lines are good and all, but they don't have any buildup, they just come out of nowhere. i don't think their dynamic was established very well at first at all, so even though the later parts of it are brilliant, it has a very weak beginning.

for example, ochako saying "im jealous of your smile"? great. why though. where is the buildup. show me HOW this happened.
