💫💫Reading Update 💫💫 💫I'm halfway throught this book and I could actually cry tears of joy. Why you ask, because the patois/patwa that is in this book is actual patois, not the standard english with incorrect grammer i've been seeing so much. 💫 I was immersed in the story from the very beginning, I think story telling technique that @librarylovefest used for that introduction was perfect. And the writing, even if I don't like the characters and really don't want to be in their head, I don't even care that much because the story telling is just so great Thank you so so much to @jamaicangirlreads purchasing this book for me. So seems like most of us are, or are soon to be, in either voluntary isolation, lockdown, or quarentine for a while. I'm on day 20 today. At first I was really excited to have all the time in the world to get to my TBR. I pictured myself reading most of the day away. Alas, I forgot about the kids: the homework, the fun, the fighting, the attention, the meals, the noise. As things progress around the world I'm also starting to get more and more anxious and I find my mind wandering more and more while I am reading. ~ When @librofm gifted me These Ghosts are Family, I almost declined at first. I'm not normally an audiobook person. I've only ever listened to two in my life (Mindy Kaling and Ulysses) but it came at just the right moment. I normally don't use headphones either (as you can see from the age and condition of the ones in this photo) but with an audiobook I am able to close my eyes, tune everyone and everything out, and escape into this other world. Each storyline pulls you deeper into it. I'm really enjoying it so far. It's a nice change of pace and the writing and narration are excellent. I may have to eventually buy myself a physical copy as well.
