I can’t be the only one who ships Lia x Shun and Dan x Wynton, right?

This is a quick one, with no accurate quotes or evidence because I have no access to the Bakugan Evolutions episodes BUT..

One of my favourite Athena moments had to be the scene where Lia's mom hugged her and told her how Lia's always saying nice things about her.

This scene was actually a lot more important than it originally seemed, which is something you'll realise when looking back at some other Athena scenes.

Athena being told that there's someone who she cares about who is always saying positive things about her to their mom was such a contrast to how in the flashbacks to her past we saw her overhearing others constantly making fun of her behind her back just because she was smarter than they were.

It was so nice seeing this contrast as it showed how she'd finally found people who genuinely like and care about her and are open about how much they like her to the point where someone who is a complete stranger to Athena tells her that they've heard so many amazing things about her and they're happy that their child has such a good friend, literally within the first second that they have a chance to talk.

You cannot tell me that isn't just amazing writing and character development right there. Athena is honestly one of Bakugan's best written characters alongside characters such as Ajit and Magnus, I'd even argue she's THE best written character.

I cannot wait to see more of her in Bakugan Legends, I'm really hoping she stays an important/main character so we can keep seeing more of her throughout all the seasons yet to come, she means so much to so many people and is seriously my all time favourite Bakugan character.

One thing I think sucks is how the Bakugan seem to have less personality as the series goes on. I’m not touching the third reboot with a ten foot poll I’m a full grown adult. I only have the patience for one reboot. I say this to say I can’t speak on that one. But I watched both Battle Brawlers and Battle Planet.

When I got to Mechtanium surge I got sad that they switched Shun and Marucho’s Bakugan again. Marucho hasn’t had a compelling Bakugan since Elphin. And while I like Elphin…Preyas was the best Bakugan personality wise in the whole series. Nobody made you have more fun on screen. Aquamos was fine. He had a distinct personality just less of one? When they actually made him pretty much only say ‘cool is the rule’ I knew it was Jover. Whoever Marucho has now, their entire personality is just being angry and I’m not a fan!!! Don’t give Bakugan just one personality trait. Preyas had it allllll ugh.

Shun and Skyress’ dynamic was special. The way she left the show was special too. She came back on occasion as well which felt more real. I remember Shun having to adjust to Ingram. Hawktor and Ingram were kind of similar to me but also yooo Ingram was transmasc? Real. Whoever Shun is with now is just his personality again which is less interesting. At least Hawktor seemed to have new opinions.

Runo, Alice, and Julie never switched Bakugan but what happened to theirs?? I await Mechtanium Surge to answer. But all of them had banger dynamics with their Bakugan.

Every new important character has some kind of dynamic with their Bakugan. That I can say. The arc with Rubinoid in Gundalian Invadors really got me. Even Anubius has a dynamic with his Bakugan if I recall correctly.

I think instead of swapping out Shun and Marucho’s Bakugan, you either give them multiple Bakugan or just do what every season does; add more characters with new Bakugan.

I liked Battle Planet. S3 or Geogan Rising was rough but I liked the other seasons for the most part. But the only Bakugan I can say that had personalities was Pharol, Nillious, Drago, and Trox on occasion. We’re going to put aside the Bakugan that were villains in the series cause they kind of don’t count for what I’m talking about. Of course Viloch and Tikko have personalities they’re the villains. But I can’t really think of an iconic villain and Bakugan duo. The reboot does a lot more Gus and Vulcan kind of pairings rather than Barodius and Dharak yknow? I can’t really think of what’s unique in the dynamic of Hydrous and reboot Shun. Or if Hydrous really had a personality. Drago in this show seems way more laid back and less…there. In the reboot they brawlers hardly spend time bonding with their Bakugan minus that one season they got new ones, and it was a little disappointing. Drago and Dan’s bond felt right because it’s always Dan and Drago. I do see them have a dynamic sometimes in the reboot but it’s so much less pronounced. Pegatrix and Lia just have the same personality and Trox is usually the same with Winton minus when they disagree. Honestly with Dan’s other friends they don’t really go past “mmm I don’t know about that,” when their Brawlers are being a little silly. I could be wrong as I said I watched it all when each season dropped.

Magnus and Nillious Dynamic is significant because of the whole age thing. Magnus had to push to bond with Nillious to understand him. It was compelling! Pharol’s personality had always been compelling. He’s inquisitive and competitive. He guides Ajit emotionally and Ajit tells him about the world. These two are my favorite reboot characters so I am biased but I think this is at least some of the reason why. They feel like they really fit Bakugan.

The most compelling villain in the reboot that isn’t Magnus was Haavik but Haavik’s Bakugan didn’t have a personality!

The reboot got one thing right, not replacing the cast or brawlers or Bakugan. What they got wrong was not putting depth in their dynamic. I fear the worst of this trend continues.

TLDR never trade out your star of the show (Preyas.)

REAL TLDR: I love these shows most when Brawler and Bakugan share that bond of friendship that the show’s all about. Make sure I can feel it. Dan and Drago changed my life. I wanna make sure that if Bakugan can do that it does with those feelings it gave me.

My only NOTPS are Athena x Boys because that girl is a canon lesbian and Dan x Emily, simply because of how most Dan x Emily shippers I've seen treat Emily, they forget her entire character arc that she had in AA and just think of her as a nice sweet cute girl to ship with Dan.

I'm not really a fan of Magnus x Girls ships either but I've never actually seen anyone ship those anyway.

Oh and it goes without saying I obviously despise all of the illegal pairings.

Falling into a gate inside a lake turns them back to normal and brings them to Darkavia, land of the Darkus. Just in time for Magnus' battle against Lightning.

DEAGING AND FALLING INTO THE WATER

HE CAN NOW UNDERSTAND NILLIOUS JUST FINE, NO NEED FOR A DEVICE ANY LONGER TO BRAWL

He's become anywhere near as young as Dan to be able to understand Bakugans, he's bound to have lost a year or two.

While Magnus fended off Lightning and is about to do the same to Lia, the two hotheads meet up with Ninjiton, an ally of Pyravian.

To find the Darkus relic, they must travel through the darkness and face illusions they can get lost in.

Dan's illusion has Drago tell him he's exhausted and that they could use a break, while Drago's has Dan question the relics' power and if they're really necessary should they win the tournament.

The darkness is trying to claim them

The fake Drago makes Dan realize something's off when he says that he'll stay on Earth even if the planets are split, so it's not a problem if they lose the tournament...

...and saying that other Bakugans don't matter so long he's there, is what finally tips him into realizing that's not Drago.

Likewise, the fake Dan thinking they won't find anything and that they should just give up and leave makes Drago realize that it couldn't be Dan telling him it's hopeless.

They know each other well enough to know the other would never say such things!

Destroying the illusions reveals the relic, a mirror.

It showed the weaknesses in their hearts, but those were overcome.

Lia put up a hell of a fight, but inevitably, the final battle shall be between Magnus and Dan.

Athena Monde from Bakugan Evolutions.

Nothing ANYONE can say will ever convince me otherwise.

Just look at all her interactions with Lia and all her interactions with people about Lia, they make it so obvious that Athena has a crush on her.

Then there's the fact her va commented on an edit of Athena to the song Little Miss Perfect (a song about a lesbian for anyone who doesn't know) and said the song really fit Athena.

It never gets confirmed or denyed in canon but everyone I've met in the Bakugan Battle Planet fandom believes that she's a lesbian and treats the Athena is lesbian hc like canon information.

What fictional character are you completely convinced is a lesbian and nothing anyone can say will change your mind on that and why?

I want to know because I feel like lesbian head-canons are always pushed aside in fandom.

Little date, weird feelings | Shunlia Oneshot

They’d been friends ever since they met each other. They were always very close, always had each other's back, cause that’s just what friends do right? Something was sparking though, neither of them could quite put a finger on it but there was something more to their friendship. Were either of them brave enough to talk to each other about it though? Nope.

At random times, either of them would gush their emotions out to the group while the other wasn’t there. Everyone agreed, they need to get these two together, NOW. The boys, well mostly Wynton, eventually convinced Shun (with peer pressure) to ask Lia out, advising that it could help out his little feeling mumble jumble situation. They didn’t give him much to go with though.

Lia was chilling, seemingly editing another video. 

This was the perfect chance

A very flustered Shun, waddled his way over towards her. Lia had never seen him this embarrassed before, it was concerning. “What’s up Shun?” he stood there fiddling for a bit, looking back and forth before sighing.

“I was wondering if maybe you would like to go out somewhere… possibly, if you’d like?”

He mumbled, but Lia was able to catch on. She noticed the others standing at the back and raised an eyebrow. They definitely put Shun up to this, it wasn’t nice to play with her feelings like this. Shun realised Lia’s expression, losing some hope, he just slightly dropped his head. 

“Ah, you don’t have to go if you don’t want to I was just… sorry for disturbing you”

Wait… was he being serious? Lia suddenly turned red and jumped up quickly. “Wait, wait no. Sorry I thought… I’d love to go out with you” she blurted out. Shun’s face lit up a bit and a small smile emitted from him. 

“A-alrighty, let’s go”

It’s clear the others forced him to do this so suddenly, Shun was quite nervous and didn’t seem to have an idea of what to do. Lia just frowned, she couldn’t help but feel sorry for him. She placed a hand on his shoulder, making the boy jump.

 “Shun, are you alright? I know this is nerve wracking… and to be honest quite sudden” she mumbled the last part. Shun just nodded his head. “Sorry it’s just, I’ve never been out with someone before and I don’t know what to do” Lia just thought for a bit, it’s clear Shun wanted to be the one to pop up with ideas.

“Well it’s a first date,  I guess. So why don’t we just go somewhere simple?”

“Well, I-I guess we could go to this little cafe that Toshi takes us whenever we’re on breaks from the company”

Shun seemed to relax a little bit and Lia smiled,

“That sounds like a great idea.”

They eventually made it and Lia had to admit, it was kind of cute. It was filled with random plants and had a general nice feel to it. The workers seemed to have known Shun well as they all greeted him as soon as they entered the door. “Well someone’s popular” Lia couldn’t help but remark, causing Shun to become even more flustered than he already was.

It was peaceful, honestly couldn’t have gone any better. They sat in a comfortable booth and talked about anything they could think of or things they enjoyed, eventually making each other laugh so hard their milkshakes almost came out of their nose. Neither of them were sure about this at first, but it was nice with just the two of them. 

They left the cafe and ended up walking around the town until sunset, getting some ice cream along the way to a lookout to the ocean. Shun seemed to have been transfixed by the view. “The ocean is so pretty, isn’t it?” Lia just looked over directly into his eyes, they reflected the view in front of them. 

“You remind me of the ocean Shun”

He was a bit taken aback, but just gave her a confused look, which made Lia giggle. “Well, you’re deep and maybe a bit mysterious. You’re also calm and peaceful to be around.” She just softly smiled at him, not expecting a response from him, but

“You remind me of the ocean too, you’re both beautiful.”

A tint of rose crossed Lia’s cheeks, Shun softly smiled back at her. “You don’t understand how long I’ve wanted to tell you that” it was silent for a bit, both of them having to process what the other said, what they said themselves. Lia eventually walked over and gave him a light peck on the cheek.

“It’s getting late, thank you for today”

Shun’s face turned more red than it had been all day, he was cute when he was flustered. “I, um, no problem. I’m glad you enjoyed it today, even if it was kind of simple.” Lia didn’t care if it was simple, she enjoyed it either way. 

After that, they seemed to be inseparable, the others noticed a change in their relationship too. Lia and Shun eventually understood what was going on between them, something special and unique.
