I don’t typically write on this account but one of my favorite tv shows of all time just ended and I wanted to talk about it. 

The Middle on ABC.

It ended just how I would imagine it would end. Axl goes off to Denver for his new job, Sue and Sean finally get together, and Brick...well, he’s Brick. He reads. 

I was somewhat disappointed in this season though that’s not surprising. Most shows lose their sparkle within the first few seasons, this one was no exception but it still had that innate relatability and ability to hit close to home from time to time. 

Part of me wishes that season 8 had ended with Axl heading off to Denver. That way Season 9 could have been all about the kids finding their own paths and lives in order to lead up to the finale and the scenes in which they showed the future. 

We could have seen Axl settling into Denver (aka adulthood), his long-distance relationship with Lexie, probably would have gotten a proposal and a wedding, maybe even a pregnancy reveal at some point. Also, a plot point that was never fully discovered was Lexie being cut off from her parents' money and Axl showing her the ropes of living off of scraps. I was hoping they would delve into that more. They never even explained where she was living or how she was paying for it...anyway, I’m getting off point. OH, but I would like to mention that I don’t mind that Axl ended up with Lexie. I understand that people have wanted him to end up with Weird Ashley for years and I would have been all for that if they had kept her around and developed her character but that was made impossible many seasons ago, I’m afraid. 

We could have seen Sue and Sean’s supposedly extremely tumultuous relationship. Her college graduation, her hotel job thing...etc.

We could have seen Brick starting his book and possibly graduating high school (I can’t remember what grade he was this season? I think he was a Sophomore?) Also, they only mentioned Brick’s career as a writer. Perhaps they could have also mentioned Axl’s - since he’s clearly well off - and Sue’s. 

Oh well. I liked the finale and I will always be grateful to this show for providing me with laughter and tears as well as a means of being able to laugh at my own family because I found so much of my own in the Heck’s and really, that’s all that matters.

he is so perfect!! don’t worry i malfunction too when i see him too haha! want him to say salmon and be pretty everyday,, the moment i saw him in the manga i grinned like an idiot, immediately falling for a character who only responds in onigiri fillings T_T still kicking my shins like WHY THAT ONE ?!? and then the anime? heard him say one (1) thing and ceASEDall function 😭 but for the one shot that was actually @secondhand-trash who wrote it! cadence is writing jjk yummies now so go check her out!

i have like 30 wips atm but there is something in there for him i have been working on!

FC.  chris wood NAME.  kalimax lyntho AGE.  31 ( as of tros ) STATUS.  alive SPECIES.  force sensitive human RELATIONSHIP.  nova’s former boyfriend DETAILS;  son of a senator who feared force sensitives to the point of hatred, kalimax didn’t grow up in a happy household.  being the only child of three to show signs of force sensitivity, he was the only of the three that faced abuse almost his entire life.  kal’s parents, senator kelvis lyntho and his wife alleli, worried that one day their son would realize how powerful he could become and bring their family harm.  so from a young age they taught him it was wrong to be what he was ; if he used the force he received a beating, if he protested his beating it got worse.  his siblings, a sister named lexles and brother maxales, didn’t dare trying to defend him - if they did, their father would turn on them, too.  it wasn’t much but they would check in on kal afterward to see if he was okay.  he never was.  but getting close to the royal family of naboo made it better.  he befriended minerva and alrish, and by extension, their friends.  being with them made his home life bearable, and as long as they were around, it was less time he had to spend around his abusers.  with them he didn’t feel the need to watch his words, prepare for a strike across the face at any second.  in his teens, he felt the appreciation for the princess morphing into something beyond gratitude, beyond friendship.  she was the only one he felt brave enough sharing his trauma with, and when he felt safe enough to tell her, he knew he was in love.  he fell into a routine - spend time with her, their friends, have a good time and be happy so that going home was durable.  for a while it worked, and he thought that, maybe, he could handle doing this forever.  so when he found out she was being sent away, his world shifted.  who would he go to after a beating?  who was going to hold him in their arms while he tried to hold back the rage as a new bruise would form on his skin?  to keep himself somewhat sane, he held onto the happy memories.  he thought of them day in and day out, all the time.  he doesn’t quite know when it crossed the line of coping and became obsession, but it did.  he was obsessed with what he once had and a terrifying truth, that really didn’t scare him as much as it should have, dawned on him --- he would kill to have it back.  and he did ; by the time he was 22 and a couple years had passed since minerva’s disappearance, he just couldn’t stand the torment anymore.  he mustered up the nerve to question his father, ask what he had done to deserve this.  when he was met with knuckles connecting to his mouth, a holler of ‘you know better than to question me,’ he’d had enough.  regaining his balance, touching the fresh blood from his split lip, he simply looked at his father, left the room, returned with a knife.  before kelvis could demand to know just what he thought he was doing, the blade was hovering, and then darting across the room and sinking into his father’s neck.  he didn’t use the force to kill the rest of his family ; no, he just used his bare hands.  it was much more satisfying.  after the murders, he left his home planet without a word to anyone, not the royal family nor his friends, and sought out the first order.  he had come to admire how it was wreaking havoc on the galaxy, and decided he wouldn’t mind doing the same.  what had the galaxy ever done for him, anyway?  on his designated path to squashing what hope remains in the galaxy, he reconnects with minerva, now nova, the one thing he clung to to survive, but what parts of his mind had slipped away during his years of torment never returned.
