Okay so i finished Kaos a few days ago, and all in all, it is a fun series to watch. In short: it is a fresh take on the "ancient gods in the modern era" and i love that. It does some clever takes on the myths. I like it.
A bit (a lot) longer, and maybe a smidge spoilery in one particular case, as spoilery you can get with something with a pretty well known source material:
So. Let me get through the more.. negative-ish things? Ish, because i wouldn't say there is anything de facto bad with the series. Everything boils down to preference. What could become a negative is usually used in a way that at least levels out or even turned into an advantage. The writers clearly knew what they had to work with and what they wanted to do with it and pulled through.
I have to preface this, the series is very very contemporary and very much netflix. It is super consistent with it tho, which creates this effect of not really feeling too much or forced. It also makes some parts feel safe, but it doesn't affect it neither positively nor negatively which is both surprising and really cool. Especially these days. It just is. And i love that for it.
Also it is not my favourite thing ever. Here is where the personal taste thing comes in. I usually don't really love to see our contemporary (tho mostly western) world in a fantasy (even if urban) setting this heavily but this one does it in a refreshingly campy, not too serious way that makes sense for the story. I can't say i was able to be fully immersed but it never pushed me out either. It kept me hooked and i very much enjoyed my time with the show. I'm also sad i never going to get to see the conclusion because netflix canceled it like everything worth watching for the past few years.
There are some changes to the myths and mythical characters that some people would not vibe with, but i don't mind. I love recontextualizations of things i know when it is done with both purpose and thought behind it. I'm not saying this is the smartest series ever but the writing is consistent, a story makes sense and thank fucking god the dialogues are actual dialogues.
There is some inherent stupidness to all of it but we are in the realm of dark comedy. It works. The show knows exactly what it is and works with it very nicely. It's cohersive, and enjoyable. It does not want to be more than it is. Which i appreciate.
Also way too fucking short. For god sake can we start making 10-12 episode series? The amount of exposition they dumped into these handful of episodes, not leaving room to breathe is painful. Or just leave out some exposition. I don't have to know everything verbatim. Let me think, let me use my brain. Let me get to really know the characters.
But on the other hand most of the characters being stereotypes work here beautifully. Because we are based in the myths. Which all work with stereotypes. And this. This is why i say this is a smarter than most your average shows. They know what they have to work with and how turn it to an advantage. Or at least don't let it become a hindrance.
That said, i like this show. No small part to that is the cast, and boy this thing has an awesome cast. I am biased. Heavily. But this is a great cast of actors on all realms. Goldblum as Zeus is such a based idea and so fittnig. Also this show probably has the best depictions of Hera, like, ever? I kinda wish D had a bit more to him, but i figured his character was supposed to grow more over the planned three seasons. Well alas.
Also shoutout to my man Thewlis as Hades. I love that man in nay everything. No wonder he is one of the main characters of my favourite movie. Anyway. The rest of the cast is great. Probably the weakest for me was Killian Scott as Orpehus and even he wasn't bad. Just mostly one tone.
That said. I enjoy the spins on the mythos'. Especially our main pair's. The most well known part of the Orpeus and Eurydice story is the you can't look back, trust that she follows and i was waiting for it the whole time. I was kinda sad not seeing it and that is why Eurydice asking Orpheus to look back at her, and him saying "i don't want to look at you, because you are not coming with me" part hit so much.
I kinda wish he would have just left without looking back. I understand the scene (and the series at this point) needed some release of the tension and somberness but man.. imagine if he just... walks away, never looking back. And maybe it get's resolved along the line in like the next or 3rd season. If those ever would be a thing.
Anyway.
I think i rambled on long enough. I could cherrypick moments i aslo liked and maybe make an attempt at those i didn't but i feel it's redundant. This is a good show at the end of the day and i don't want to over analyze it in my head.
Because as i said, all in all i loved this show a lot. It is a fun watch, and i might rewatch it again somewhere along the line because there are exceptionally cool moments peppered through. Especially the darker ones. Both the writing and the acting is great. I am genuinly bummed there is not going to be further seasons.

I haven't seen the episode yet, this post is the first thing i saw since ep11 so i know there is definitely a different explanation that makes more sense but am i bad or am i bad for instantly thinking
42 - "answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything" = the answer for everything/the meaning of life
0 - is zero, essentially a space, nothing
69 - what do you think? It's not even a dirty thought at this point just a second meaning everybody associates withthe number.
So i was like... the password Jay gave was either the answer for everything is 69 or the meaning of life is 69 ? 🤔😂
this week on the live-action teen titans program
Titans : Purple Rain (season 3, episode 13)
#batfamily#shhhh i know i'm bad i'm judgeing myself enough so you don't have to#titans#levynn watches stuff

I... started replying to these questions and only near the end did I realize that @spellcasterdouxie tagged me in their similar post, but not (directly) for me to answer these questions. But they did leave the tag open and by the time I realized it I had answered almost all the questions, so I’m going through with it, lol XD
rules: answer the questions and then tag 10+ other creators to answer the questions!
first creation and most recent creation of 2020: My first one is also my very first Grim Fandango ficlet titled Have You Forgotten Yours?, which I wrote pretty much after finishing the game at the beginning of the year. My most recent one is this Captain Amelia gifset :)
one of your favourite creations from 2020: I think I’ll go with this gifset and meta of that Douxie and Merlin scene. Making the gifset and writing the meta made me pretty emotional, and it meant so freaking much to me that tenyai replied to it too.
a creation you’re really proud of: Full context aside, this one from Gordo and Trudy doing the frickle frackle was a pain to make because the scene was not only super dark, it was also chokeful of noise, so with the content I had I’m quite happy with how I managed to make it look.
a new style you tried this year and a gifset that uses it: I don’t use greyscale a lot and I have used it before, but I am pretty happy with this one of Gordo having an angsty shower but this time in B&W, and totally because of the style and not what the gifset shows, of course, why would you think otherwise my good sir
your favourite colouring: I don’t do much colouring in my gifsets, I mostly fix brightness, contrast and the colour tone, so the difference is rarely discernible unless you compare the gif with the original. But this gifset of Detective Rogers was interesting to toy with :D (also how was it that I made it in APRIL it feels like I made it a year ago and tbh that feeling isn’t surprising with this year is it)
a creation that took you forever: Definitely my Douxie’s leitmotif video. I had to rewatch the whole show looking out for his leitmotif (and I still missed one or two moments, shame on me lol), then transcribe all of its appearances into sheet music, then edit the whole thing, scenes and sheet music, together. I don’t remember exactly but I’m pretty sure that organizing the whole thing took like, a week, until the video was ready. And then youtube took it down because of copyright and I had to downgrade its size so that I could upload it to vimeo, lol. It didn’t get a lot of popularity but I didn’t really expect it to, it was a bit too technical and was mostly made for my own entertainment.
your creation from 2020 that received the most notes: My gifset of Douxie and Claire high-fiving!
a creation you think deserved more notes: This one and like, I’m not one to beg for notes or complain but it was surprising it got so few notes considering a) it’s from a scene not many people have made a gifset from, b) said scene has great comedic timing and like, why not and c) pretty much every other Douxie gifset I made got more than 200 notes so this one stands out. Again, not complaining, it was just weird why this specific gifset flopped (in comparison to my other Douxie gifsets), lol.
a creation with a favorite scene/quote: Oh, fuzzbuckets!
a new fandom you joined and a creation you made for it: The Douxie fandom (I haven’t watched the other ToA shows so I don’t consider myself a part of the whole series fandom), and here’s the very first gifset I made of him!
a creation you made that breaks your heart: Oh that’s definitely this gifset of Douxie in that scene with Charlemagne and the staff. I can’t even. My boy T_T
a ‘simple’ creation that you really love: This gifset of Douxie throwing some “Magic fire!” in a BoOksToRe because while it was quite simple to colour it and stuff, I really really enjoyed how well-timed the gifs are.
a creation that was inspired by another one: I guess the “[Character] + TV Tropes” is a common theme for gifsets and stuff here, so this one I made of Douxie + TV Tropes is probably fitting for this question :D
a favourite creation created by someone else: One??? Uh... This Grim Fandango fanart (skeleton alert)
some of your favourite content creators from the year: @carpedzem, @valentimmy, @dahliycia, @inhonoredglory, @spellcasterdouxie, @a-s-levynn and @nikibogwater.
and for good measure, another couple more creations of yours that you love: 1) Silver from Treasure Planet with the pirate flag waving behind him, 2) Gordo and Trudy having a quiet moment and giving the sweetest faces to each other what do you mean it didn’t end there, 3) Douxie fighting with Morgana 4) Douxie hating those twits, 5) Douxie being 919 and not knowing how to read (Ancient Draconic) and 6) Colin characters wearing Among Us hats.
I’m bad at tagging people so if you want to do it, or if you do the same mistake I did XD do it and tag me :D
.... And then I clicked “Save draft” again instead of “Post”. That’s why this comes like three days later XD

Shout out to this guy on YT reacting to Hybrid Theory for the first time, because he get's it. He is not even halfway through it but figured out why this type of music can be so cathartic:
"[...] Every single song that i've heard of this so far is one i genuinly could listen to. It gives me a good feeling. It gives me a feeling of -even though the subject matter should not giving me that feeling- i feel relieved. I feel relieved. And i don't mean just sonically, i mean like, emotionally.
I feel emotionally relieved and i feel like it's because whoever has written this they've done it in such a way, and it's been performed in such a way, that makes me feel a little bit better about the way i feel in conjunction with that. Because they've put it so eloquently, and every track is.. it's own beginning, middle and end. And once it's ended the relief that floods over your body like.. like okay, that's over, next track.
It's almost like.. it's almost like that's the point of the album. They are speaking on these very painful subjects, but it's.. it's for a method of relief. You know, like therapy. You have to speak on your repressed memories or things that you've gone through, you have to speak on them, and although it's painful you know you coming out the other side a revived and new being, you know. [...]"

▪️Ask Game▪️
I was tagged by @a-s-levynn and @venomousiiserpent (thank you guys!!) and thought it was pretty fun, so let's go 💖
(i love this cute ask games, sue me)
Last Song:
Atlantic by Sleep Token (I've been oh so very normal about it lately. I made it my wallpaper 😬).
Last Film:
Pride and Prejudice (2005). It's my number 1 comfort movie, and I've been feeling super hormonal and sad so. Hand Flex™ to the rescue. I love you Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen 🥺.
Currently Watching:
Adventure Time. One thing about me is that I love cartoons, and you can pry them off my cold dead hands. I'm just waiting for October 1st to start my 🎃 Halloween 🎃 watchlist (starting with Over The Garden Wall).
Currently Reading:
The Pleasures of The Dammed by C. Bukowski (one of my all time favourite authors - I'm a poetry whore) and I guess Dracula by Bram Stoker (both the Dracula Daily emails and the @re-dracula podcast). I'm almost 2 weeks late though, I've only now got to Van Helsing. Gotta catch up this week! I've been meaning to start a new book, but I can't decide.
Current Obsession:
Sleep Token 100%, please and thank you. I MEAN, have you seen my blog? This US tour is not doing me any favours.
Aside from them, I've been playing a LOT of LoZ: Tears of The Kingdom and I can't get enough of it. I've finally got used to the new mechanics and have enough hp to do cool stuff (I died too many times early game, it was ridiculous). The fan art is so very beautiful, I've been super into it!
I am tagging @dearscone @ardengrey @vesselsscarlet @kaddyssammlung @murderofcrow @arasdawn and whoever else that wants to do it! (super no pressure though). I'm pretty sure all of my other mutuals have done this already - i don't really talk with that many people 😬. (If you've been tagged already sorry!!).
#thank you for the tag!#i love these little games#i also love how everyone i follow is putting Sleep Token as their obsession. you're all so valid 🥰#i love that we are all down BAD for the creatures#if anyone wants to do it and be tagged pls let me know!#tag game#ask game

This is about Dune again. No spoilery shit don't worry.
So i was talking to one of my pals and i think i finally get it why so many are disappointed by the movie. He was hearing this thing that "it's star wars for adults" no no no no no. Well yeah but nooo. Many things in star wars was inspired by the original novel but like.. it's different. It is sooo much different.
Like two different subgenre under sci-fi kind of different. Star wars is a space adventure story with a plotline involving destiny. Dune is a space opera about destiny with adventure elements. Two totally different things.
If anything it's more akin to lotr but the books and not the movies. It's slow-ish, it's heavy on exposition. Please do not hate it because it isn't a different movie. Hate it for actually not liking it. There is a difference.
Don't go in with a hard set preconception about what it is going to be. Just experience it for what it is. Judge it by it's own worth not by what you expected it to be.
Also the big 'part one' text kinda gives away that there is no epic conclusive ending. It's the first part of a bigger story. If i have to compare it, it's like the first lotr movie. It ends almost exactly on the same note. Just sayin.
Also go watch it because it's so good. And still don't get me started on the music. I found my new love. Leave us alone. 😂

Small blessings in life can come in the form of starting a new series and by the 3rd episode praying that the cool, smart, badass lady doesn't get reduced to being just a loveinterest for the main guy along the line. And the next episode she kisses her girlfriend and confirmed to be lesbian. 💋👌

Guys, guys!! If you are even a slightest bit interested in Dune, go and watch it!! Hooly shit it's soo good. Seriously. And don't even get me started on the score. It sounds scary that it's two and a half hour long but it really doesn't feels like that. Maaan the second movie can't come fast enough. 🔥
