Okay I'm gonna ask, how am I supposed to interpret that alignment grid? My group chat and I were puzzling over it for HOURS and can't make any sense of it, and the updated version just makes it even more confusing, please help xncndjxndn

(referring to this post) it’s a chart of fate character archetypes and designs and how they all kinda flow into each other. the squad was talking about how people talk big smack on saberfaces but don’t seem to realize there’s nearly as many kariyafaces and they even sometimes overlap so we started mapping them out. it’s both design and character type cause those two things heavily influence each other in fate

so like if you take saber’s pride & chivalry & do-good attitude and add a lot of kariya’s penchant for suffering you get karna and if you ease it on the saber you get siegfried who only recently picked up an actual heroic ideal and if you ease it on the kariya instead you get saber with tuberculosis or a kid made of swords who wants to be a hero meanwhile if you take saber and add lancelot’s sad horny cuck you get diarmuid and tristan and with slightly less sad and cuck you get cu and achilles and if you take lancelot’s sad horny overcompetent fuck and add sakura’s wife material attitude and yandere tendencies you get raiko and if you ease it on lancelot’s sad from there you get horny murder purples like medb and shuten and then you take sakura’s “i’m suffering mad disproportionately” and add kariya’s cryptidness to get a bunch of emiyas and einzberns and so on

ideally there’s a third axis that goes gilgamesh-shinji which explains why generally the closer to the center you get the less self hate you see and how there’s the random splotches of red in an otherwise pretty consistent gradient but I’d have to whip out the 3d modelling software to map that out and I’m not about to put that kind of effort into what’s essentially just a meme
