Demon Brothers realizing their feelings for reader
Characters: Mammon, Levi, Satan, Asmo and Beel (x reader, separately)
Main Masterlist
Part 2 , Part 3 , Dateables version
Requested by Romance Anon
A/N: just like in the dateables version, this feels like an extra to the other parts, so definitely check them out. Hope you enjoy this! Even if they're a little ooc...
.
Mammon
Saying that Mammon gets no respect in his own house is a given. He’s a joke amongst his brothers, a fool who only seeks metallic sheen; guilty until proven innocent.
Bluffing and throwing empty threats around is his way of maintaining at least some of his remaining dignity, even if no one buys it.
So when you, a weak dumb human, are put under his responsibility, his priority is making clear who’s in charge.
He shows his fangs and talks harshly, wasting no time in letting you know how unimportant you are to him and how many things he could and will do to you if you disobey his orders or ignore his requests.
Of course he’ll rummage through your room and see if he can sell something of yours, but soon his visits become too frequent and soon he lacks his treasure-hunting mindset.
Mammon doesn’t know what to think about the disappointment he feels when he opens the door and you’re not there, when he hears your voice in the living room talking to someone else or when you’re partnered with some faceless demon in class projects.
He keeps the insults to try and compensate for the weakness that falling in love with you carries. You have to see it, how could you not? And even if you don’t, his brothers’ little jests would give you enough hints.
It’s maddening, having you so close and so out of reach at the same time; but maybe, surely, that is his fault.
.
Leviathan
It’s so unfair.
Why does he have to be the Avatar of Envy when he is clearly the least everything among his brothers?
Well, perhaps he’s better than Mammon at some things, but still.
He knows he isn’t as imposing as Lucifer or as pretty as Asmo and he doesn’t even want to compare himself to Beel; he still remembers them all criticizing his hermit habits and his consequential soft tummy.
Staying inside his room is, undeniably, the best way to protect himself from his sin. It’s a sanctuary made for him, Henry and all of his prized possessions; he doesn’t need anything else.
And then he meets you.
You don’t force him out of his room, which makes it easier for him to come out on his own, and you don’t mock his interests either. You are empathetic, eager to explore, fun to be around… All in all, being close to you makes him feel lighthearted.
Levi cherishes you so much it doesn’t take him too long to want you as close to him as possible.
Where are you? With who? Why? Were you having a good time? Better than the moments you’ve shared with him? Do you miss him? He has something to show you, so hurry up!
He notices the change in his heart the moment you make him blush for the first time, heartbeat so fast it makes his chest tremble.
It is somewhat hopeless; he knows you wouldn’t be interested in him in that way. Why would you?
No, he’d rather not go through that pain; he’s happy being just your friend.
At least, that’s what he tells himself.
.
Satan
You fascinate him.
Not like a book or a painting would, much less a cat, but like a mystery. He doesn’t understand you and that angers and fascinates him in equal amounts; it makes him want to investigate you further than he would with any other person.
He observes, taking you in as neutrally as possible, and marvels at the way you prove wrong everything he thinks he knows about humans and what he assumes about you based on that knowledge.
When he lashed his tail and bared his teeth, back then, in the darkness of his room when he still thought so lowly of you, you stood up to him and didn’t move an inch. Clearly afraid, but not backing up, facing him with determination.
You’d later tell him it was adrenaline, which picks his interest further.
His privacy is his own and he still enjoys spending time alone in his room or out in the city doing his own thing, but the desire to keep your company for himself every hour of the day grows stronger by the second.
Smiling at the mere sight of you, hearing the pounding of his heart in his ears and impatiently waiting for his phone to light up and show your name on the screen are just some of the many new changes your presence in his life has brought.
The more he feels, the more he sees himself in his novels. Whether the narrative is in his favour or not, he doesn’t know, but he’s enjoying every bit of it.
.
Asmodeus
Being called beautiful is for him as usual and natural as breathing air and drinking water, but that doesn’t mean it goes under the radar. While he lives in abundant loving words and adoring phrases, there’s never enough to satisfy him and he works hard to keep the flattery coming his way.
His body is a temple he vows to maintain and there’s nothing he wouldn’t do to carry that promise.
A sleep schedule that helps his hair grow, clears his skin and makes his mind feel lighter and happier; makeup and clothes carefully selected to enhance his attractiveness; and nails perfectly filed and painted multi-coloured to express his versatility.
Of course, not all of him is based on looks. You can’t feed a fan club just solely on a picture!
He has a Deviltube channel where he engages with his beloved followers, parties to interact with them as well and other, more intimate, reunions that bring them all impossibly closer.
He thinks, rightfully so, that no one could ever come close to what he has achieved over time.
Then again, you always manage to surprise him.
While not as beautiful as him, there’s something about you that makes it impossible for him to stop admiring you and drinking in your entire presence.
It’s not just your face or your body, or the clothes you wear or how you do your makeup if you even decide to put it on. It’s your heart and your soul and the way you make him feel more loved than anyone could’ve ever done before.
There’s not a single ounce of jealousy in his eyes whenever he looks at you. You’re not competition, but part of him.
Finally, someone to share the spotlight with.
.
Beelzebub
A common misconception people tend to believe about him is his lack of emotional capacity, although he can understand his mostly speechless and stern demeanour and his food-driven actions don’t help at all.
His mind is usually focused on one thing and one thing only and that is filling his everlasting empty stomach. How can he concentrate on anything else when its growls are easily compared to Cerberus’s roars? When he salivates until he drools or when the aching need to consume something makes his vision turn red.
While it’s sometimes difficult for him to think straight or “read the room”, as Levi says, he’s well aware of what he feels at every moment of the day. Hunger is the usual answer, but there’s also love and protection for his family and, lately, for you as well.
It’s a different type of love, one he doesn’t feel often, but he recognizes it nonetheless and accepts it as quietly as he would with any other emotion, although his reddened cheeks and darkened glance speak volumes.
He loves you and wants you deeply, there’s no doubt about that, but he won’t act on it on impulse. As delicious as he thinks you’d be, you’re not some sort of candy ready to be chewed on in mere seconds.
Beel is impatient when it comes to his needs, yes, but he’s willing to wait for you.
Sometimes, the best meals are the ones being left to rest.

Letters from the Other Side
The sea washes over the sides of the steamship, taking with it the algae stuck to it. You almost hope the waves can take you with it, the nerves getting the better of you as you leant over the rail. Come see me, you read the letter over and over again, your stomach fluttering, I want to see you.
CW: Post-war Levi x fem!reader, civilian!reader
A/N: Some post-war Levi goodness after the angst I’ve posted this past month. ~2.5k words of fluff and romance. If this does well, I’ll probably write the super romantic smut next.
Credit to @cafekitsune for the dividers!
Three years after the Rumbling and things were starting to return to a sense of normalcy in the Stohess district. At least as normal as things can get when the twisted mentality of the Yeagerists and their seizing control of the military dominated the news. Your mother and father tell you not to worry, but you’ve been worried ever since the walls disappeared and the Survey Corps regiment disbanded.
Or rather, you have only really been worried over a single person, the man with the raven locks and the dull gray eyes, dull eyes that glittered when you spoke to him. You were still a woman, and a woman has intuition for those sorts of things like attraction, and Captain Levi couldn’t help how flustered he got whenever he saw you. Your father was the owner of a blacksmith company, and you often bumped into Levi along with Commander Smith several times a month.
Humanity’s strongest, you’d think in awe, where you had imagined a big brute, now you saw the man for what he was.
Why’d he come along was always unknown to you, but as your father and the commander spoke privately in another room, you offered small conversation and tea while he waited. Where small talk began, somehow a deep appreciation for the other bloomed, and the visits began to feel like the visits of the suitors that bombarded your home on occasion. He’d gift you single flowers, it’s all I can afford, he’d say meagerly. You’d thank him with a kiss on the cheek each and every time. And each and every time a ferocious tinge of red would adorn his face.
The timing never seemed to be right with either of you, it always seemed like when one was ready to take the leap, the other had other obligations waiting. Wait for me, were his selfish last words to you and you nodded your head as you gave him a final good-bye.
It had already been three years. You were already on the cusp of giving up.
It had been a nice breezy morning when you received his first letter. The unfamiliar stamps had caught both you and your parents off-guard, but nonetheless they gave you the privacy to open it. There, in the small garden of your home, tears welled up in your eyes as you skimmed through it.
It was a letter from Captain Levi.
Or rather Levi, just Levi, as the letter so said. I have told them to stop calling me captain, but these brats never learn. You giggled inwardly at his words, tears welling up in your eyes. You read it one more time, much slower this time, familiarizing yourself with his handwriting, the slant in his letters, his signature, everything. You familiarized yourself with the names Gabi and Falco, children you did not know but instantly loved with the way they cared for Levi.
At the very bottom, a hopeful wish that you will respond, signed next to his name.
Of course you will.
Your father stood confused as you gathered parchment and a pen to write, finding it odd that his moody daughter was suddenly so lively. Perhaps it’s the engagement, he thought, and let you be.
Your ring twinkled under the summer sun, and yet nothing has caused more glee than the very letter you were responding to. You wrote about the situation in Paradis, you wrote about the kindness of the queen, and you wrote about how business was booming for your father, despite the war having been over. The thought saddened you, but you quickly sign the letter and add a note that you excitedly await his next letter.
It’s not that you fail to mention your engagement, rather some deep part of you didn’t want to mention it. Your betrothed was a good man, hand picked by your father, you had accepted to keep his worries at bay that you wouldn’t end up husbandless and with no children.
How quickly Levi’s letters can have you questioning your familiar duties.
We restored some of the land ruined by the war, Levi writes, many foreigners are starting to settle here again.
You can’t help the sense of admiration that fills you up. It filled you up when he’d visit with the commander, and it still filled you up now. A military man, you wonder if he’s still as strong as when you met him. Humanity’s strongest, you wondered if he still thought about you and the flowers he’d gift you.
I’d like to visit it one day, you write, perhaps a change of scenery would be nice. All this yeagerist talk has me going mad.
I’d like to visit you one day, you will yourself to write, but you don’t. You had been lovestruck years ago, perhaps the captain no longer harbored the same feelings. Perhaps the captain has found someone new, perhaps the captain has married.
Sadness consumes you. After all, you were just friends back then, right?
You trash your letter and write a plainer one instead. It hadn’t even reached half a page when you sealed it, wrote his address on the front of it and set it aside for the postman to pickup tomorrow.
“Honey,” you can hear your mother call, “James is here to see you.” You force your best smile to greet your husband-to-be.
It’s weeks before the next letter arrives. The pretty orange and red tree leaves were beginning to fall, a cozy chill running through the district. Your wedding preparations were already underway when the postman calls out to you, a single letter in his hands, the stamps it bore already familiar to you.
More talk of restoration, recovery, Gabi and Falco’s shenanigans, when finally you reach the last bit of the letter. I don’t mean to bother you, Levi writes, your last letter felt abrasive. I understand if things have changed. Everything has changed.
You wonder what goes through Levi’s mind when he writes to you.
No, things have not changed. Things still felt the same, at least they did to you. Still, you couldn’t ignore your engagement anymore as you saw your mother debate through wedding ribbons in the distance and you finally will yourself to write and tell him the news.
I’m engaged, it feels awful to write it, my engagement is a long one, though, and so I’m sorry if the letter was short. I must’ve been busy.
You write of other things, of the rising tension amongst good folks like your family who didn’t want to fuel another war, and the yeagerists. You write of how the talks of peace by the ambassadors (who you found out were actually part of the same regiment as him) were falling on deaf ears.
I’d like to see you, you finally write, I’d like to see what the other side looks like.
You add the last bit in a final moment of hesitation, sign your name and set it aside, a deep breath falling from your lips.
“You’re changing the wedding date again, and to a later date might I add,” your father bellows out to you.
“Father, please,” you reply, exasperated, trying to escape the dining room and into your own, a new letter in hand, “I will get married in time, what’s the rush?”
“The rush is that you’re not young anymore, I beg you to reconsider.”
You shut the door behind you, shaky fingers coming to pry the letter open. You force yourself to read slowly, absorbing every single inked word coming from Levi’s fingertips.
You skip his polished words of annoying governmental policies being implemented on his side and go straight to the heart of the letter, his real response to you.
Congratulations on your engagement, he begins, I’m surprised you haven’t even married yet.
That? That is what he has to say? You scoff, a slight irritation blooming.
I don’t look like before—I’ve lost an eye and my right hand is destroyed, his letter continues, I look awful.
I’m not humanity’s strongest anymore.
You don’t know why these words strike you deeply. Years and a great distance separate you from what Levi is or was for that matter, yet it isn’t Levi’s exterior that ever affected you in the first place. It was the small talks and the small gifts, it was his tinged cheeks and his intrepid way of speaking around your people who have only seen the refined things in life.
You could never look awful to me, you write in your response, a wave of heat flaring up on your cheeks, you’re just trying to get me not to go.
Levi’s letters continue well into the deeper part of winter, the leaves have long since fallen, snow beginning to gather amongst the branches. The winters where he lived were harsh, and he writes of how they were causing the ache in his knee to worsen. You spend some of your money to send him some ointment you purchased from a local medic.
He writes to you of how the snow reminds him of when the Survey Corps would serve hot chocolate on the off chance. You send him chocolate you bargain off a local vendor.
The signs of Levi’s homesickness don’t escape you, even if he doesn’t admit it.
I could send you Stohess’s entire stock of goods if I can, you respond to his letters of thanks.
What would I do with all that, he responds to yours, breaking you into a fit of silent laughter.
I’ve missed your awful humor, you write casually. You wonder if you should trash this letter and begin a new one, but you don’t. I’ve missed you, you finish writing.
The budding roses in your garden remind you of your predicament.
“As much as I respect you,” James begins, “I won’t accept any other change to the wedding. If you won’t marry me then I’ll find someone who will.”
You comprehend his irritation, even if you don’t fully understand it.
He leaves you on your garden bench, exiting through the gate, just in time for the postman to arrive. Your feelings don’t subside, in fact they linger as you read Levi’s next letter.
Upon opening it, nervousness hits you as you see just how short the letter is. Policy change, annoying policy change.
The ambassadors have told me that postage to Paradis will be barred soon. Your eyes widen. Despite the nice spring breeze, your body suddenly feels so cold.
If I don’t hear from you again, I wanted to wish you a happy marriage. Your eyes well with tears, but it’s his next words that move you.
Unless you change your mind. Come see me. I want to see you. Just as you’re about to trash the envelope, a small flower catches your eye. It was dried up and rather lonely, but you hold it close to you as small tears slip down your cheeks.
The next morning, you try to give the postman your next letter but he just shakes his head in response.
“Apologies ma’am, the military has ordered a full stop for all international mail.” You thank him anyway, despite how distraught you feel.
Your wedding is within two weeks. The white dress in the corner of your room haunts you. Although lace with spring flowers were added to match the season, it only made it look like the kind of dress you wore on your deathbed.
There was no more rescheduling your wedding date, there were no more letters to look forward to, you could only look over the last letter, his final request.
You longed for Levi. Did he long for you?
Come see me, I want to see you.
Despite the spring air, a heat that resembled summer humidity burned through you.
“It’s a one way trip if you decide to head to the other side,” the hefty man tells you, “military has barred all incoming and outgoing mail, I wouldn’t be surprised if they bar incoming ships soon.”
This was it, the point of no return. You had written your last letter addressed to your parents—an apology for doing what you are doing. No, your heart hasn’t seized its rampant beating since Levi’s last letter. You need to see him.
You board without much of a glance back.
For days, sea sickness threaten to put a damper on your good (albeit nervous) mood, your only fuel the letters stored in your small suitcase, rereading them every night as the darkness of the ocean tormented you.
Finally, the crewmen announce that you will be arriving in the morning. The sun was setting off in the horizon—you clutched his last letter as you take a brief moment to absorb this feeling of resilience that surged through you. You’d get to see Levi soon, you’ve waited enough. Here, near the rails of the ship, you long for him, nerves filling your stomach.
The sea washes over the sides of the steamship, taking with it the algae stuck to it. You almost hope the waves can take you with it, the nerves getting the better of you as leant over the rail. Come see me, you read the letter over and over again, your stomach fluttering. I want to see you.
Past the plethora of persons disembarking, past the many political volunteers ushering about far-off dreams of peace that were unachievable, you navigate through unknown territory in an effort to find him. Fingers pointed, people spoke foreign directions as they glanced at the address on your envelope. It has all brought you here.
Face to face with a young girl, too young to be married.
“Ah—sorry,” you begin, “I was told Levi Ackerman lived here.”
“Yeah he does,” she begins suspiciously, “I’ll get him.” The door closes again and already you feel out of your element. Perhaps this was a mistake, you wish the ground can swallow you whole. Peering eyes look at you through a nearby window, ones that belonged to the young girl who just spoke to you, and another who you haven’t met.
“That’s her? No way,” you can hear them say. Suddenly the door opens, and dull gray eyes that bore a hint of annoyance soften and make way for a familiar glitter that reminded you of simpler times.
“Levi.”
He whispers your name, suddenly hiding his maimed hand, trying to get you to see his good side, the side with his working eye. But you don’t see that. You see the man who gifted you flowers, you see the man whose cheeks you once kissed.
You will yourself to move and you do, grabbing the hand behind him and crashing into him in an embrace. Levi’s face is red, and he glances at the window to see Gabi and Falco gawking at them. He waves them off annoyingly and they give him a thumbs-up as they pull away.
Hands come to wrap around you, lips kissing your forehead.
“You came,” he whispers into your hair.
“Of course.”

OLDER BROTHERS’ PAST RELATIONSHIP HCS
Lucifer: 100% a virgin
I’ve seen many people agree on him being incredibly experienced when it comes to hookup culture, but I headcanon him to be quite the opposite. He is the avatar of pride himself; he would be wayyyyyy too prideful to offer himself as an one-night stand, no matter who the person might be. there will be exceptions when it comes to Diavolo, of course. He has never been in a serious relationship either; the man has no experience whatsoever. Aside from never having the time to pursue someone and build a connection with them because of his duties, he would be wayyyyy too scared and worried about bringing someone home only for them to harm his beloved brothers or his reputation. Mammon might be MC’s "first,” but MC is definitely Lucifer’s first. It is a match made in hell. All mc had to do was to live with him and his brothers for the entirety of the exchange program, which meant he didn’t have to go out of his way to make time to meet someone, and with time, they both grew on each other, the chemistry grew, and naturally, a strong connection formed without him ever needing to force any of it.
Mammon: He has done everything for quick cash, including sleeping with every living being that could hand him money. Even when cash is not involved, it is canon that he is a model and a party monster, so easy quick club, casino hookups are not a shocker. Out of all the brothers, him and Levi are the only ones who are the most experienced when it comes to serious relationships. Since he wears his heart on his sleeve, all the serious relationships he’s been in ended badly because his partners took advantage of him. Satan, in season one, commented that if Mammon likes someone enough, they will be showered with the richest, but if he breaks it off, then they will be left without a single penny. Knowing that many, especially his exes, only had money hearts in their eyes when they looked at Mammon, despite him pouring his heart out to them, they only viewed him as an ATM. I also headcanon that his tsundere behaviour wasn’t always there; he just started to act like that because many of his exes laughed behind his back, calling him easy, naive, and easy to trick into falling in love, thus leading him to develop this tsundere-like behaviour towards the person he likes to come off as cold, hard to get, and not easy to fool. Though he fails at acting cold and harsh towards MC, he doesn’t act all shy, blushy, or tsundere-like towards his hookups. As he doesn’t feel anything towards them, they only see a very confident, arrogant, bad boy side of him, which MC doesn’t know about.
Levi: Since he is a big anime nerd, he has high standards when it comes to dating and completely rejects hookup culture. All the romance anime he watches really set the bar high for him and makes him somewhat delusional. He has only been in a couple of serious relationships, which were all online, but unlike Mammon, some of his past lovers truly loved him for who he is but didn’t love him enough to keep up with his jealousy and his need to be reassured 24/7. Some might’ve seen him as an easy ticket to get up there in devildom’s hierarchy and get their status high up, as the seven demon brothers are hell’s government officials. + he’s literally the grand admiral of hell’s navy, man’s loaded. His insecurities, shyness, and introversion aren’t the main reason why he is in denial of someone enjoying his company or having any romantic feelings for him, but his experiences in relationships made him push away everyone and anyone who showed him any interest. We see this a lot when he friendzones or tries to find a ground where things are more platonic than romantic with the MC, despite being completely whipped for them, he is simply is terrified of them getting annoyed with his constant need of reassurance or getting into a relationship with them only for his jealousy to be too much for them to handle which would make them leave him and he would lose his only best friend, yet again.

Levi x Pregnant! Reader AU
An Unexpected Gift (pt.1)
Part two
Masterlist
You stared at the endless amount of medical posters plastered on the walls.
One provided a hotline for mental crisis.
One demonstrated a diagram of a human’s nervous system.
And another was reminding everyone to get their flu shot for the upcoming season.
You weren’t here for any of that. You were here because…cancer.
At least that’s what Google determined your sudden nausea was, because…why wouldn’t Google continuously tell people they have cancer?
“Miss L/N?” A nurse’s sweet voice snapped you out of your thoughts.
The nurse escorts you to the back where she has you step on a scale to get your weight.
You’ve lost three pounds.
Yup. Cancer. Definitely cancer.
After taking other precautions like your height, blood pressure and temperature, the nurse leaves you in a room to wait for the doctor.
The crinkling of the bed’s paper cover annoys you as it crinkles every time you move.
You sit up straight as you hear a knock on the door and your doctor walks in.
“Miss L/N. Nice to see you again.”
“Dr. Reed,” You sigh, “I have cancer don’t I?”
Dr. Reed chuckles as he sits in his chair, reading over his clipboard. “How many times do I have to tell you to stop reading Google?”
“Every time…”
He looks over the rim of his glasses and smiles as he clicks his pen closed. “Well fortunately for you, Miss L/N, you don’t have cancer. Your blood tests and urine samples came back showing that you’re pregnant.”
Time stood still. You feel all the color wash from your face as you feel light headed. “P-pregnant?”
“Mhmm,” Dr. Reed hums and crosses his arms. “It explains your sudden nausea, weight loss and fatigue. I’m shocked Google told you cancer and not pregnancy. Although, your iron levels are low so I’m going to prescribe you iron pills as well as prenatals.”
You cover your eyes as you laugh in disbelief. “I didn’t figure I was pregnant because my husband is snipped. He’s not supposed to be able to get me pregnant!”
Dr. Reed hums in thought. “I see. Well unfortunately in some rare instances, vasectomies can fail. I would advise your husband to go to his doctor to get that looked at. You both decided to not have children or he already had the vasectomy before he married you?”
You sigh. “We both decided to not have children.”
“Alright,” Dr. Reed uses his professionalism to analyze the situation, “How do you feel about this? The pregnancy I mean.”
“Shocked. In disbelief.” You twiddle your thumbs anxiously. “I mean, this wasn’t supposed to happen.”
“I have an important question to ask. This may be one you want to speak with your husband about first, only if you’re comfortable with that. Do you want to terminate the pregnancy or keep it?” The doctor asks sternly, but softly.
You try to think of an answer, but so much is going on in your head that you can’t come up with one on the spot. “Um, I have to think about this first. I would also like to let my husband know. It would be wrong of me not to tell him.”
Dr. Reed nods and helps you up. “Alright. If you want to keep the pregnancy or terminate it, I want you to call the office right away after you make the decision so I can know what direction to take you.”
Tears fill your eyes as you nod. “Thanks, Dr. Reed.”
He smiles and helps you back out to the office.
Once you get home, Levi is waiting for you on the couch. Your eyes widen.
“You’re home early?”
Levi nods as he watches the TV. “Yeah. The building is getting electrical maintenance so Erwin sent us all home.”
“Ok.” You quickly walk to the bathroom and sit on the floor for a few minutes, trying to figure out how you will tell Levi.
You jump when there’s a knock on the door. “You alright? Did you have to take a shit?”
With a small laugh, you took a deep breath and decided it was now or never.
You walk out of the bathroom and come face to face with Levi. He raises a brow as you grab his arm and sit you both on the edge of your bed.
“I went to the doctors today….”
Levi groaned. “Shit. You’re dying aren’t you?”
You give a small smile. “I thought I was. But…I’m pregnant…”
Levi’s eyes widen and he jumps up. “What?! How?!”
“The doctor said sometimes a vasectomy can fail and-“
“No no no!” Levi cuts you off as he starts pacing back and forth. “Not mine. My wouldn’t fail. I went to the best doctor in the city.”
At a loss for words, all you can do is start tearing up and stuttering. “W-well, that’s what my doctor said. He confirmed-“
Levi stopped right in front of you and looked down towards you. “You cheated didn’t you?”
“What?! No!” You yell. “I literally told you what my doctor said. He said you should get rechecked by yours.”
Levi covers his face with his hands. “Do you want to keep it? Because remember we both decided we liked to be by ourselves and not have a little shit to deal with.”
A sense of motherly instinct washed over you on that last part and caused you to stand up in irritation. “I do want to keep it.”
That causes Levi to freeze in place and then suddenly throw his hands up in frustration. “Shit! I can’t deal with this right now!”
He storms out of the bedroom and you can hear the jingle of his car keys as he stomps out the front door, giving it a nice slam on his way out.
You are emotionless for a good minute before you start sobbing into your hands.
‘I guess I’m a single mom now.’

having a crush on professor Levi would be so hard and embarrassing at the same time because why are you blushing while being scolded for not getting a simple formula?
you are currently in his office, seated on his chair under his desk. your hands fiddling with each finger as they nestled timidly down on your lap while he's explaining the problem you were having earlier in class. you are one of the top students and your grades in almost every subject were beyond excellent. well, almost.. except for professor Levi Ackerman’s class. his subject wasn’t even that hard, you just can’t seem to focus no matter how hard you try. it’s like he always finds his way to creep into your thoughts making it hard for you to listen attentively and keep your attention on the lesson. now you’re having trouble catching up with all the lectures you missed, thanks to your daydreaming about your hot professor who won’t leave you alone (in your mind at least)
“Did you get all of that?" his hard gaze on you makes your face heat up and you panic at the question. you just nodded, but the truth is you didn’t even understand any single word that he said. you were too focused on how close he was standing next to you. his arm resting perfectly on the back of your chair while the other flexes as he points at the screen in front of you and it’s not helping either with how good he smells, the scent of mint so intoxicating fills your senses and your breathing becomes ragged. your thoughts start to drift around dangerous waters and you can't help the image planted in your mind, you on his desk, him between your legs. your palms firmly placed against his chest while his hands are roaming at the small of your back. he pulls you against him making you gasp and he takes that as an opportunity to connect your lips with hi— you close your eyes and shake your head in attempt to push the dirty thoughts away, what the hell is wrong with you?
"tch. you’re clearly not listening again.” he flicks your forehead and that made you snap out of it.
“s-sorry sir, I was just..” you tried to reason but you couldn’t find anything to say, not even an excuse. you can’t just blatantly admit to him that the reason why you couldn’t focus is because of him and how badly you want him. you hear him let out a disappointed sigh and you feel bad. you can’t even look at him right now.
“something bothering you isn’t it? you need to tell me what is it so we can fix it.” Levi says as he grips your chair, twisting it around making you face him. fuck, your faces are now so close to each other. too close, you feel like you might pass out any second. you’ve never been this close to him before and if he leans a little more, your lips would definitely touch. why does he have to be so fuckin hot?
“tell me, what seems to be distracting you that you can’t even focus in my class?”
Levi isn’t dumb. he’s actually aware of your odd behavior in his class that has been going on for months now. he’s been observing you silently, but there hasn’t been a single improvement from you at all. in fact, you actually became worse. he knows that you are smart and that you aced almost every class you’re in, so what is it about his class that has a top student almost close to flunking?
then he figured it out when he called you into his office this morning.
“am I making you nervous?” this time, he says your name. the way it rolled off his tongue so smoothly, you feel chills inside your body causing goosebumps to rise from your skin. you gulped, trying to calm yourself. shit he knows.. of course he would! but still, he doesn’t know that you like him, right? he couldn’t possibly..

Just imagine Levi's expression if he reads "Hunting Adeline" and when he'll reach the part where Zade fucks Adeline with gun......
He'll be traumatised
He'll furrow his eyebrows with disbelief, then he'll shut the book. A disgusted expression will be clear in his face. He'll take quick steps to find you and when he will, he'll grab you by your arm and will speak with an urgent tone while blushing slightly.
"Y/N, I'm absolutely banning you from reading dark romance novels! Like sex with guns? Falling for a psycho stalker?! I'm not gonna let you become a psycho too. It's me or the books!"
In reply, you'll just tease him more, only to see his blushing-mortified-disgusted expression.
A/N: I'm a huge fan of dark romance books. Currently reading "Hunting Adeline" and suddenly the thought came into my mind that what's Levi gonna do if he finds out that I'm (his partner) reading these kinds of INTENSE books. I think he would be traumatised, lmao....

___________________________________________________________
The sky was filled with many colors all blending together perfectly making it look like art. Orange, pink, some red. Pink clouds all gathered, floating absentmindedly in the calm sky. The sun, making its way to hide behind a mountain, still outshined all the lights that were on in random homes.
Sometimes it was a question if humans lived in that reality. The now, peaceful reality. No Titans to be seen. One could finally live their life in a calmful manner. It felt almost unrealistic.
The streets were empty, making the scenery look even more beautiful without people passing through every second.
The cool breeze grazed Levi’s cheek and made his bangs swing. He stared at the sunset dying down with a cup of tea in his hand. It looked like he was stuck in a gaze the way he was staring out into the sun. His eye looked glassy, the sky’s rich deep colored beauty reflecting in his eye. He held his cup of tea up to his lips and drank some of his warm tea. When he lowered the cup, a small sigh escaped his lips.
Having to fight for everything he had currently, the simple word appreciation was not suitable for what he felt. He was glad to finally be relieved from Titans.
He could almost see his fallen comrades joining the sunset, smiling at him and nodding in respect. His heart suddenly felt heavy.
‘I will always remember each and every one of you.’
His eyes turned soft and he stared as they all waved a final goodbye and joined the sun, hiding behind the mountain fully.
Levi couldn't bring himself to look away, as the darkness seemed to take over the once colorful sky. He felt something sit on his shoulder, snapping him out of his trance as he looked to the side to see (Y/n) and her hand on his shoulder.
Her..
His soft look in his eye stayed still.
“That was truly beautiful wasn't it..” She breathed out, also starring where the sun used to be.
He looked back, seeing tiny little dots in the dark soothing sky. Their dim brightness replacing the sun's warmth.
“It still is.” Levi spoke. The corner of her lips turned up ever so slightly. A small smile on her calm features. The breeze brushing her smooth skin. Her hair moved side to side as the wind pushed it softly.
“Yeah… it still is.” She breathed out quietly.
They stayed still for a long moment just admiring the sky. Both lost in their own thoughts.
She was his everything.
(Y/n) (L/n). She served in the Survey Corps with him, and they didn't become friends right away but as time went on the friendship began slowly. Slowly, and slowly as time passed Levi started to think she was actually quite.. beautiful.
When the war started, Levi lost all of his closest friends. Except one. Her. She survived but the war seemed to haunt her in a way also. He now owns a tea shop. A popular one to be exact. She didn't work there but she still helped him clean up the shop every night.
Levi stared down at the ground now.
He was at true peace with his life.
But the only selfish thing he wished for was to be her's.His love for her had grown over the years, something that was not expected from him.
He didn't even know he was in love with her at first, until Hange pointed it out. Levi sometimes thought, ‘what if Hange survived the war?’ …. Where would she sit with her life? He knows if she were still alive he’d continue to go to Hange for advice on (Y/n).
He took a deep breath in. Cold air traveling to his lungs.
“Let's go inside Levi. It's going to get cold,” A quiet voice spoke behind him.
He didn't respond, only nodded.
He grabbed the wheels of his wheelchair and started pushing them forward. (Y/n) tore her eyes away from the sky as she walked inside the shop.
“Every table and counter is wiped down, the floors are swept and mopped, and the dishes are all clean.” She walked to her jacket she left on the counter.
“I..” Levi stared at the especially clean floors.
“I didn't ask you to do that (Y/n) and you know it.” It slightly irritated him that she always cleaned the shop at night. It's his shop, he should be the one doing the hard work.
She put on her jacket and stared at him.
He was simply… gorgeous. His war scars.. were something traumatic but beautiful. His blind eye was nothing to be ashamed of.. because she saw it as beauty he had to him. His bangs he had since his younger years framed his upper face and cheekbones made him stand out handsomely.
(Y/n) smiled softly at Levi. “I know.”
Her tired whisper made Levi look at her.
“Then why do you still clean? You come back everyday to just clean the shop at night. Why?” She shrugged half heartedly, and continued smiling tiredly at him.
“I like being near you,” Levi’s eye looked slightly more awake now. They both stared at each other. (Y/n) staring at Levi full of admiration and.. love. Levi staring at (Y/n) with shock.
“.. Why?” His voice went quiet. In the silence, repetitive small thumps were heard. Perhaps.. his heart.
“Because..” She started. Her eyes having a shadow in them yet some sort of light was twinkling in there.
“Your Levi Ackerman. I'll always want to be near you.” Levi felt warmth fill him. His gaze traveled to the ground.
“I'm Levi Ackerman. The exact reason why anyone should not want to be near me.” She stood still for the shortest second.
Then she walked up to him. (Y/n) crouched down and tilted her head slightly to meet with his pretty eye.
“That's not true. And you know it..” She wanted to reassure him. He knew but it felt like he was doubting himself once again. He just.. He could never forgive himself for letting his comrades die. Levi’s eye looked elsewhere after it met with hers.
“You have to stop pushing me away, Levi. I always stick with you, you know that.” She set her hand onto Levi’s. Heat crawled up onto Levi’s neck and the warm flow of blood rush filled his cheeks.
“I know.. and I hate it.” Her eyebrows scrunched up slightly in confusion and a little bit of hurt. Levi noticed this and continued to speak.
“It's hard to understand why you want to spend your life like this. Putting up with me and cleaning up after me and my mistakes. You could be traveling all around the world right now. I'm just holding you back.” Her hand slipped under his to hold. Levi looked up at her and then to his hand. He almost flinched as she interlocked their fingers together.
“Stop telling yourself these things. I know I can travel around the world. I know that. Stop acting as if you're a burden, and I ‘have’ to put up with you. Because I don't. Out of everywhere on this Earth I would rather be with you because there's no one like you. I adore and appreciate you Levi, and I’m glad we have each other.” (Y/n)’s cheeks turned a light pink and her warm hand held onto Levi’s with such gentleness.
“(Y/n)..”
“I should get going. It looks like it's about to snow.” (Y/n) stood up and pulled her hand away from Levi’s. Levi’s hand quickly held onto her wrist just as she was about to walk away from him.
“Stay here then. I have a room upstairs.” (Y/n) blinked and felt her cheeks warm up on their own.
“That's okay, you need your rest. I'll be back tomorrow,” She was about to walk away but the grip Levi had on her wrist was firm.
“What if I want you to stay?” Levi turned a light shade of crimson as he tried to speak with a clear voice.
“.. W-What?” (Y/n) gulped nervously, her lips parted and her eyes widened.
“What if I want you to stay with me? (Y/n) I…” Levi looked down as his firm grip slightly faltered. His eye looked up at her. His features had a soft look to them.
‘Here goes nothing..’
“(Y/n). I want you to stay with me because..” He shook his shyness away and looked at her again. Her cheeks were flushed, her eyes were staring at him, waiting for him to finish what he started. And she held this look of.. love?
Love? Did she love him too?
Levi said nothing more but let go of her wrist, and slid down to the palm of her hand, gently holding it in his. His rough hand held her soft hand up to his lips.
A shy kiss to her knuckle.
It felt like the only thing that could be heard was the pounding of both of their hearts. (Y/n) only watched as Levi interlocked their fingers together again.
“Marry me (Y/n).”
“Levi,” She quietly breathed out.
“Marry me.” He repeated and she couldn't speak. Her flusteredness made her breath halt.
Levi awaited her reply with a flushed face.
She snapped out of it once she realized Levi must’ve been waiting for a couple of minutes. Her heart beating as fast as a rabbits, filled with warmth.
“Yes,” She nodded slowly.
His eyes widened, not actually expecting her to say yes.
“Yes?” He questioned.
“Yes,” She smiled and her shaky hand held tighter onto Levi’s.
He pulled her into a tight hug. She sat on his lap, while he hugged her with all the passion he could manage. Her eyes filled with shiny tears and they rolled down her face as she hiccuped.
“(Y/n).” He pulled away but held onto her still.
“What's wrong?” She shook her head and used the heel of her hand to wipe away her tears. Her cheeks growing warm again, as she smiled.
“I’m just so happy. Ya know?” She hiccuped again and Levi couldn't stop himself as he leaned in and pushed a small kiss to her lips.
The saltiness of her tears mixed in with the sweet taste of her lips. She kissed him back and brought one of her shaky hands to wrap around his neck. He deepened the kiss as he tilted his head.
The happiness flowing through the both of them made them feel at peace.
Love surely was a powerful thing. After being in love for many years and not doing anything about it (Y/n) was finally truly and genuinely happy.Snow fell from the sky outside, and hit against the shops windows which both of them didn't see to notice.Almost all of their friends died in the war. Before the war. The two of them missed them with heavy hearts sometimes but.. they had each other. And now, they will live together in peace, for all of their fallen comrades.
(Y/n) and Levi both were laying on his bed in the room above the shop. The fireplace upstairs heated both of them up as they were under the covers. (Y/n) rested her head on his chest as she stared into the fire blankly with almost hooded eyes. Levi stared at the ceiling as he breathed in softly. His chest would rise and fall every few seconds making (Y/n) calm.
“Can we stay like this forever?..” She whispered, the fire’s brightness reflecting in her eyes. Levi held onto her with a somewhat tight grip.
“No.. I have to open the teashop tomorrow, precious.” Her heart ignited at the nickname but she only began to smile small.
“Well then.. for tonight then? And every night after this?” It was quiet for a moment until he spoke in a quiet voice also.
“It would be hard not too once we’re married.” She closed her eyes.
“You were serious about that?” His eyes felt heavy for the first time in forever.
“How could I not be serious about that?.. I’ve always thought marriage is stupid. But.. I want you to be mine for the rest of my life. My love for you isn't a joke.”
(Y/n) opened her tired, now hooded eyes. Still staring into the fire..
“You can at least take me on a couple of dates before y’know.” He smiled small at her words and quietly chuckled.
“Okay.” She inhaled and softly exhaled.
"Does this mean I'm hired now?" She teased.
"I'll check with the manager tomorrow," Levi responded making both of them laugh quietly.
Then there was a moment of silence. Both of them getting sleepier the longer the seconds passed.
“I love you, Levi.”
Levi continued to stare at the ceiling. Feeling complete with her and her words.
“I love you too, (Y/n).” Her eyes shut and the crackling of the fire calmed her to sleep.
“Always..” He shut his eyes too and held her closer.

I miss kissing. The feel of their plush lips. The warmth that builds between us. The way they run their hands up and over my curves, stoping to hold the back of my neck or thighs. I miss the kind of kissing that gets incredibly heated fast; a simple peck that leads to our tongues fighting for dominance. I miss the soft kind of kissing. I miss all kinds of kiss. I just miss kissing.

chapter 29| Turning Page
WC-6.5k
Summary
The underground is filthy and dark. Dim lights, dull alleys, and desperate hearts. A place Levi knows as well as the back of his hand, and a place he would do anything to get out of.
Chapters of life roll by and with the turn of a page, things drastically change. In front of him is the opportunity to live on the surface. And the flimsy bridge that he has to cross. From an uncivil criminal to a disciplined soldier.
But life on the surface seems tougher amidst all the mockery, civilities, and the gaping hole left in his heart, after the demise of his dear friends Isabel and Farlan.
Content/Warnings
canon- compliant, canon-typical violence, spoilers for No Regrets OVA, descriptions of PTSD, grief, depression, heavy angst and themes, strong language, self-hate, physical assault.
Author’s Note
OMG hiii guysss!
Can't believe that this is the last chapter!! There's so much gratitude in my heart right now. This has been a long long (irregular🤡) ride, and I'm grateful to everyone who's sticked around!
I've tried my best to write an amazing chapter since its the last, which is why this got so delayed. (And I might also have been overworked to the core at work lol ) But there's going to be a long ass note at the the end of the chapter about everything!
Song for the final chapter is by Turning Page by Sleeping at Last!
I hope you enjoy it as much as I've enjoyed writing it.

APRIL 857
It’s an hour past 12, and Levi sits on his balcony looking at the midnight sky.
The thick veil of pollution prevents the stars from being visible. Instead there's street lights and high beams from cars, twinkling on the ground.
He misses the stars from Paradis. It was the first thing he fell in love with once he came to the surface. And he wonders, whether Mae is looking at the stars and thinking of him as well?
The world outside the walls is beautiful.
There are soaring cathedrals that almost reach the sky, and beautiful temples with the most intricate architecture. There’s snow capped mountains and beautiful cherry blossoms. And everyday, from his tiny balcony, he gets to see the sun sink below the sharp silhouette of the towers.
He’s getting to experience the world his comrades died for.
But as beautiful the outside world is, it isn’t home
The development of technology seems unfamiliar. And the people around him haven’t lived their entire lives caged in fear. These people don’t know the cost of freedom.
It has been so long since he’s been back home.
It’s been so long since the Rumbling too.
The earth was left razen. Mountains crumbled to dust and forests burnt to ashes. Countries had simply been wiped off the face of the earth. Years of civilization and developmentsnuffed out in an instant, with no one to record their names.
But against the odds, humanity managed to survive. Traumatized and beaten, but still alive.
Miraculously Levi made it too.
Jean and Connie found him half dead, on the foot of Fort Salta. He was lapsing in and out of consciousness. Devoid of the strength to even stand up.
Tents were made into makeshift hospitals, food was meager. And his first few months were spent on a wooden cot,bed ridden with the stinging pain of his knee and his yearning for Mae.
He yearned to see her when he was trapped with Zeke for a month, he yearned to see her when he woke up with searing pain and bandages all over his face. And now the war was over, but he couldn’t get back to her.
The Rumbling destroyed everything humanity had ever strived for. Rail tracks, roads, ports, farms… everything was abolished as an aftermath.
It was impossible to get to the other side of the world.
Gradually Levi recovered, it took him almost a year. But his strength never returned. The tiniest task would turn him breathless, and the sight in his right eye was gone for good.
The doctors diagnosed him a plethora of health problems. And he was never allowed to look weak, but now he was in a wheelchair, needing help to pick things up from the floor. Life dealt him one blow after another.
Armin, Jean and Connie became busy, making peace with the remaining nations. Mikasa never returned. And Levi found himself, all alone. With a chaotic mind, and too much time on his hands.
Soon the Allied Nations rescued all the survivors from the Titan Waste Lands. Marley was no more, so most refugees ended up taking asylum in Hizuru.
And by the courtesy of Kiyomi Azumabito, Levi was gifted an apartment in the center of the city hall, and citizenship. A tiny apartment in between a lush square, in the city center.
It was tiny, but homely enough. And he would love sitting on the balcony and watching the outside world.
Life got more comfortable and Levi got to see the sights his comrades died for.
But there were still days where he barely had enough strength to pick his remaining fingers. Those days were the worst. And he felt like the walls of his apartment would swallow him up.
The purpose of his life was over. Hange was gone. Erwin was gone. Life came crashing down.
And sometimes, under the flicker of a candlelight, at his tiny desk, he would close his eyes, and imagine that he’s back in Mae’s old house. Learning the alphabet, listening to the soft scratches of her pen as she corrected his writings. It seemed like lifetimes had passed since then.
Mae was always with him, through all his hurdles he faced on the surface. And now he had to face an awfully big one, without her.
So he decided he’ll start to learn writing again. With two fingers of his right hand gone, he had to re-learn how to hold a pen again. He told Onyaknapon to get him books, so he could trace over letters, trying to perfect every curve. Just the way Mae had taught him.
It gave him a sense of purpose, and it also made him feel close to her in some way.
It took three years for the Yeagerists to finally agree to a cordial discussion with the Alliance. Historia sent letters to everyone. And this morning the Alliance left, back to their hometown.
Armin did extend an invitation to him too. But Levi didn’t want to be associated with the world anymore. He didn’t have the strength for it nor the will. His job was done.
“Captain,” A voice pulls him out of his thoughts. Behind him is a sliding door that leads to his room. And on the bed sits Onyakapon.
He points at the three thick journals that take up most of his space in his briefcase.“Are you sure you want to take these back?”
And Levi contemplates. Paper doesn’t spoil, and he should rather carry some spare clothes to keep himself clean.
“Leave the journals there.” His voice comes out gruff, and then it turns wispy. Everything he’s ever felt in these years without her and his limbs, is penned in these flimsy sheets of paper.
“It’s letters I have written to her.” There is no need to clarify. There’s no need to carry his journals all the way back either. But he does it either way. The war has changed him. And Levi realises he doesn’t have to torture himself anymore.
“I’m surprised you never got her to meet us.” Onyakapon smirks. He could have never guessed the captain had a lover.
And a faint smile appears on Levi’s lips as the curve of her smile plays on his mind. He wonders if she found the pearl ring and his letter. He never found the courage to directly hand it to her.
It’s been three years. Three long painful years. Perhaps, she’s forgotten all about him.
“Tch, as if I’ll let you filths near her.” He brushes his feelings off. Masking his thoughts with harsher words. Some things truly never change.
A flight passes over his head, he’ll probably sit in the next one.
“I hope everything is safe out there, hope there’s no hostility.” Onyakapon mumbles as he closes the briefcase.
And Levi gets off from his wheelchair, limping towards his bedpost. “No harm from a guy in a wheelchair.” He tries to joke, but there’s a prick in his heart.
He can’t pick things from the shelf. Some Days he also needed help to get to the toilet. And even though he’s returning back to Mae, there’s nothing he can do for her now.
And while happiness was never a part of his destiny. He hopes she’s happy. At least one of them must be.
“Well if things are bad, you can always come back here captain.” Onyakapon’s voice cuts through the constant torture of his thoughts.
The words bring him enough solace to take him through the night. A rare smile tugs on his lips. “Thanks Onyakapon.”
It’s going to be a long trip.
_________________________
It’s 10 am, and it’s sweltering hot in Mitras. Sweat clings to Levi’s skin, and he wipes it off with the back of his hand.
His briefcase sits on his lap. And he pushes his wheelchair through the dirt road,
Vast meadows stretch in front of him. The air is fresh, and a plethora of apple trees border the sides of the road. Its shade is very welcome in the sun.
Farmhouses are scattered at a distance, crops grow in structured rows. And Levi taps his heel, as he moves past them mindlessly. His thoughts are only set on one.
Historia told him Mae’s house was at the end of the apple plantation. Luckily the terrain is flat, and he’s able to maneuver his wheelchair with ease.
Nonetheless, it’s been a tiring ride.
The royal guards did offer to escort him to Mae’s house, but he declined the offer. The moment approaching was too personal to share with a bunch of strangers.
Soon, what he’s searching for comes to vision, and eagerly he moves forward.
100 meters away from him, down the mud path, is a humble home. Its stone walls are smooth, worn out by time. And the roof is thatched with wood and straws.
There’s a small garden at the front, with saplings that are beginning to sprout. And a few meters away from it all is a park. The sight of which bubbles a bittersweet feeling in Levi's chest.
“This is it.” He exhales, cherishing the cold air on his lips. It’s a breath that he’s been holding in for too long. A yearning that has been living in his heart for years now.
His mind jogs back to a small trip they took 5 years back, on Mae’s birthday. She had booked a small cabin nestled in the middle of farmland.
He still remembers the smile on her face, and the way her eyes crinkled in the sunlight.
Her hair flowed in the wind, and he thoughtlessly followed it. Too enamored by the happiness she radiated.
The birds sang, and the lillies seemed to beam.
Stories were told by the fireplace, and they would stargaze from the flower field. Cuddling under the sheets of the stiff bed, and eating lunch under a tree's shade.
She laughed, then he smiled. And for a fleeting moment, Levi had escaped from all his responsibilities.
He realized he could spend his entire life this way, under the shadow of the sun, and the warmth of their love. He couldn’t care less about saving the world, or his tea shop even…
He just wanted to be here with her.
Forever.
But time stopped for no one. And Levi’s prayers had a habit of going unheard.
And now, 5 years later, life has brought him here again. In a secluded countryside so full of beauty and peace, and so unlike him.
This is the kind of life Mae had always wanted to live. Away from the bustle of the city, where she could spend countless hours looking at the stars.
The door to her house softly clicks. And Levi leans forward, with his breath caught in his throat.
He has felt her caress in the warmth of the sunlight. He’s heard the faint echo of her laughter in the rustling of the leaves. Every breath, every movement, was just in the hopes that he’d get to see her again.
Seasons passed by like shadows, and now finally he’s finally here, moments away from her. The journey has been staggeringly hard.
Time passes at a lumbering pace, and Levi feels like he can almost hear the creaking of the door, as it gets swinged open.
Out steps a man with a basket in his hand. He’s well built and tall, and donned in a casual attire.
And Levi’s heart drops to the floor as a sickening feeling of jealousy takes over. All of a sudden the blood is thunderous in his ears.
He feels like he can’t breathe And his heart burns at the thought that her gentle smile turns to a man who isn’t him.
A moment later, a toddler comes out, chasing behind the man.
And Levi clutches the sides of his wheelchair so tight, that his knuckles turn white.
Fuck
He feels like he’ll vomit.
Like salt to his wounds, the man picks up the child. And she smiles so bright, he can see her sweet giggle, even though it's barely audible in the distance.
The man kisses the toddler’s cheeks, and takes her to the park. And Levi watches the scene with a sting in his eye.
He was her lover once but now he's a mere bystander. A powerless man who can do nothing but just watch. The realization is like a punch to his gut, and a bittersweet memory comes to Levi’s mind.
On their last night in the cabin, he told Mae he didn’t have the time to get her a birthday present. And then she shed a silent tear, telling him how she felt like she’s carrying the entire relationship.
It wasn’t too far from the truth. He had too much on his mind as a soldier. And life was not easy when the weight of humanity rested on your shoulder. Some days he didn’t even have the time to think of her.
And Levi knew he was being selfish by keeping her chained to him, but his heart didn’t know a way of living without her.
He asked what he could do to make it up to her, and she asked him to run away to a peaceful place.
All she had ever wanted was to stay next to him.
The decision was clear in his head then, but now he wonders if he should have just eloped with her… It's not like all the wars he’s fought have turned this world into an ideal place.
The impermanence of life… It’s something that he still can’t comprehend.
What is born shall die, what has started shall end. People come and go out at their own pace. The good moments turn stale, and eventually everyone ends up alone, with only memories to comfort them. Time is truly a fickle piece of shit.
The man places the toddler on the swing, before he heads the other way. And Levi gets consumed by his thoughts.
He had people who he once held close too. Erwin, Hange, Isabel, Farlan. But they left.
He wasn’t prepared for their deaths, but somehow he made his peace with it.
But he's not ready to let Mae go yet.
Not when her name is etched in the depths of his heart. Not when her thoughts have troubled him day and night. His heart yearns for her so deep, it doesn’t know another way of living.
It was supposed to be his kid, she was supposed to be his wife. He wanted to start his tea shop too. Life just had some other plans after all.
There were days when he didn’t have the strength to get out of his makeshift bed, there were days where his injuries hurt so much, he thought he’d prefer death over the pain of living like this. But he pushed and pushed.
Because at the end of this tunnel, he saw her.
The sweet end of his tiresome journey, The reward for his unyielding perseverance. His home after years of loneliness.
But it’s been three years now. And she’s not his anymore.
A part of him wants to throttle this man, for laying his hands on her. And a part of him wants to hate on her too. But it isn’t her fault as well.
His heart has been placed in the palm of her hand for far too long. And if she decides to break it, then he’ll just have to disseminate.
He guesses he’ll just have to live with the weight of being all alone.
The silence consumes,
And Levi taps his heel in frustration.
Time passes by painfully slowly. And one minute turns into fifteen.
The man and toddler are long gone now, but Levi still continues to bleed on the edge of his seat. He continues to sweat in the heat. Too nervous to move forward, yet too regretful to turn away.
Old habits die hard, he guesses.
The strength to move forward wanes from his body and every breath he takes only shatters his composure into pieces. He never thought he’d have to taste defeat, after winning over the entire world.
There’s some shuffling in the woods, and he swivels around aghast. His reflexes are not as sharp as he used to be. And he’s too exhausted to put on the act of a stone cold person.
He tries honing on the sound of movement but what use would that even be?
Back in the day he had the strength to beat any person to a pulp. But now with his crippled leg, he’s more of a burden, than a lover.
His hands trace back to his scars, a habit he has recently developed. And insecurity floods his mind.
He feels stupid pondering over something as trivial as his appearance. He wouldn’t even pay it a thought when he was in the Survey Corps. But he’s on the way to meet the love of his life and there’s these scars on his face that make him look fucking hideous.
The pit he's falling into is not unfamiliar. It’s something that bothers him everytime he looks into the mirror.
And in the haze of his insecurities. A sweet voice finds him.
“Dadd-a?”
He gasps, slowly turning towards the voice.
A little girl peeks at him from behind a tree trunk. He can’t see much of her, as she’s a few feet away, partly covered between the dense layers of trees. But he recognises her as the same child, who stepped out of Mae’s house a few moments ago.
The silence stretches, and she continues looking at him. With her eyes all wide and beaming. And Levi sighs, not knowing how to react.
He decides he doesn’t have it in him to see Mae or her happy family. He’ll just come back another day, when his heart hurts a little less.
And so he turns his wheelchair around, almost taking a U turn. But the same innocent voice stops him again.
“Dadd-a,” the girl squeals, and her tiny shoes squeak as she waddles towards him.
And Levi feels stumped, when she wraps her tiny body around his leg.
He’s always been quick to react to situations, but now he’s frozen.
He wonders why this little girl is hugging his leg, and how she’s not scared of how scary he looks with the huge scars on his face.
And as much bitterness his heart holds at the cruel turn of fate, her purity washes it away. Slowly, gently, deliberately. His features soften, and he decides the least he can do is drop her back home to safety.
He huffs, bending down to pick her up. And as he lifts her up by her armpits, his eyes are met with the same shade of silver.
Her skin is pale, papery white in complexion and her hair is the same shade of midnight black as his. Everything from the shape of her face to the shade of her lips comes from him. And there’s also a little cravat tucked inside her red polka dot dress.
“Daddaaa,” she chimes as if she recognizes him.
And a shuddered breath escapes his lips. Her smile… It comes from Mae.
She is his. Theirs. A part of him and a part of Mae.
And Levi has faced strong emotions before. He’s had his stomach churn with anxiety, and he’s had his heart overrun with grief and loss. He’s always anticipated all the things that could happen in his future, trudged every moment with caution. But no amount of preparedness could prepare him for the moment in front of him.
His hands tremble, as he puts her down on the floor. He’s a father now… he’s been a father for the past 3 years. It's too much to process. And his heart beats so fast in his chest, he’s afraid it will break out of his ribs.
“Lilly, Lilly,” A familiar voice cuts through the moment and his heart skips a beat.
“How many times have I told you not to-” Mae steps out of the trees, panting and worried. But the sight in front of her makes the words on her tongue scurry away.
Levi is a few meters away from her, in a wheelchair with 2 long scars running down his face, just the way the Queen had foreseen in the paths.
Everyday, she has stared at this road for countless hours, waiting for him to show up. It feels like she’s waited a lifetime to see him again.
The years of separation pass by her eyes.
Countless nights were spent crying into his shirt and every breath felt like a burden.
Everyone was ecstatic about the liberation of their island. And Mae was condemned to be alone, with her dwindling will to live.
Then she met Samuel and Claus, the soldiers who showed empathy to her, in a world that had become too hostile for anyone who supported the alliance.
They took her to the Queen, and the Queen recognised her instantly, as the doctor who helped when Trost was breached.
And as a Survey Corps Soldier who was once a part of the Levi’s squad, the Queen made it her mission to protect and provide for the ones who were close to the Alliance.
That’s when Mae moved into the peaceful countryside, with Jean and Connie’s mom.
Living with people who dealt with the same grief surely gave some solace, but life was still painful. And in the midst of her pain, like a beam of light into stark darkness, her baby came into this world.
And Mae never thought she’d get to see Levi’s eyes again, but they were right in front of her. Resting so peacefully against her chest.
That night she cried tears of gratitude. Life crashed into her as peacefully as it could.
“Mama mama, dadd-a has come back,” Her daughter squeals, with her tiny finger pointing towards Levi. Her grasp on her leg is still tight, and her eyes sparkle with joy.
And Mae tries to smile, but it gets dissolved in the trail of her tears.
This moment has haunted her every second, wrecked her entire being. And as she steps closer to the dream of Levi she’s had, every night since she was pregnant, the details of him come to life.
Her eyes follow the strong curve of his jaw, chiseled as if it has been carved by an artist. The ridge of his nose is sharp as always and his thin eyebrows are slightly disheveled.
She caresses him with her gaze, before her touch can even come close.
Two different Levi’s look back at her now. On the left, his face is marred, with two long scars running down his face. He is hurt and hidden away. And she can never see him through his cloudy iris.
But in his other eye, there are flecks of hope. The black of his pupil has expanded, and his iris shines blue in the sunrays. He wears his heart on his sleeve, Mae swears she has never seen him this vulnerable before.
And she might have lived without him for 3 years, but he has lived inside her every second, in her every thought. Her hand extends towards him out of deprivation.
Life hasn’t been the kindest to her.
But when the pads of her fingers reach the hollow of his cheek, her heart steadies itself. Whenever her eyes met his orbs , her ears met his voice, and her body met his touch. His familiarity always envelopes her. As if the hearth of a warm house, always welcoming and open.
Her hands reach to his lips, the shape of which she can trace on paper, even with her eyes shut close.
And Levi closes his eyes in alleviation.
There’s a search for words. Words for the longing, words for the separation.
And Mae shudders, as the pads of her fingers skim over his skin. They trace over his scars, the old and the new. From the top of his forehead, down to the edge of his chin. From the curve of his necks down the length of his arms.
Three years have passed by, but his features are still as strong.
Her caress reaches the end of his arm, and her fingers find the indents of his knuckles. Gingerly she takes his palm into hers,
And Levi is quick to wrap the 3 fingers that remain on his hand, around her.
Her touch feels both foreign and achingly familiar. He has craved this so much.
Mae’s eyes widen at the gesture, heavy with tears. And she kisses the spot where his 2 fingers once used to be. Levi is as real as ever, she can feel every divot of his skin against her lips.
The realization breaks her, and she drops to the floor. With her head on his lap, and her arms sprawled all over his thighs.
There’s disbelief, there’s elation. The feeling can never be put into words. Her shoulders wilt, heavy with the pain of separation, and she cries into his lap.
“I missed you… You weren’t there.” Her voice is muffled against his skin. “I thought I’d never see you again.” Her sobs pierce through the quiet of the farmland.
And he stares wide eyed, biting back his tears as well.
The pain she has carried with her all these years, is right in front of him. Laced into the heavy sobs that rake through her frame.
And Levi knows he should pick her up and kiss the shit of her, but he’s frozen. For his gaze is stuck on the familiar pearl ring that rests on her ring finger.
Words fail him, and his heart spasms in his chest. “D-did y-you ? He can only stutter, as his touch lingers over the pearl. ”A-after all this time?”
The question hangs in the air, but the answer is right in front of him. In the grief that occupies her heart, in the love that still brims in her eyes. And in the tiny girl who looks exactly like him.
It feels like all the sacrifices he’s made in life have finally come to fruition. His directionless quest has finally found its destination. His exhausted soul has found its shelter.
There’s such mercy in this moment, all he can do is shudder and let out an exhale. Maybe in exhaustion, maybe in fulfillment.
And Mae looks up at him, her eyes tinged red with tears. “I was only going to wait one more year, good that you came back in time.”
He puts his hand on her head, and her body trembles beneath his touch. All the grief she has held onto for so long, slows paroles in the form of her tears.
The scene is as heartbreaking, as it is rewarding.
“Ma-ma,” Lilly babbles, her voice as bright as sunlight cutting through storm clouds. And Levi looks at her as she tries to fit herself in the space between Mae’s hunched frame and his legs.
She settles into Mae’s lap, and Mae is forced to look into her eyes full of wonder.
“Mama…” she coos, and her tiny hands wipe the fat tears that roll down Mae’s face.” Dad-da’s back, don-t be sad.”
And Mae smiles at that, certainly she takes a lot from her father.
“You’re right, my love…let’s take Dada home shall we?” Her voice turns gentler, and she gets up with Lily in her arms.
“Levi?” Mae questions, gesturing towards his lap.
And Levi hesitates, a little too afraid that he’s too scary for the delicate human being.
“You’ll be a great father, don’t worry.”
The second time he looks at her, he knows he’s doomed. Her cheeks are round and full, as if there’s food stuffed inside them. And her eyes are just like his, but there’s a brightness in them that he never had.
She settles on his lap. And as he wraps his arms around her waist, she places her tiny palms on his scarred forearms. And Levi realizes there is nothing he wouldn’t do for this tiny person that he’s just met a few moments ago.
His heart feels full of love.
Mae starts pushing his wheelchair forward. And he closes his eyes, as he feels the wind against his face. It’s a moment that makes him feel grateful to be alive.
In a span of a few minutes, they’re already outside the veranda to her house. And Levi can smell the Lavender she has planted in the front garden.
“It’s not a big house but it’s enough. I stay here with Jean and Connie’s mom… Luckily for us though, they’ve gone to Trost for a bit.” Mae speaks, as she picks Lily from Levi’s lap, and places her inside the house.
“It’s a very sweet place though. All the farmers staying around often visit. It’s like a big family. Borris was here too, half an hour back. You might have seen him…he wanted to take some cookies for his son.”
“Ahh,’ Levi drawls, as if he didn’t spend fifteen minutes hating on that man. “I don’t think I saw him.”
She takes his briefcase in one hand, and hooks her other arm around his waist. Slowly helping him up the short flight of stairs. And he wants to do nothing, but melt in her embrace
“I can walk for a few minutes.” Her murmurs, almost embarrassed.
“You’re not walking anywhere until I check your leg myself.” She reprimands, but the softness in her eyes contradicts her strict tone.
As it turns out, Mae’s house is very much a home.
The interior is simple and modest. There’s a couch, two wooden chairs and a table in the front room. The wooden floor creaks as he steps in. And the walls are filled with the crayon marks.
“I’ll get your wheelchair inside.” Mae mumbles as she seats Levi on the couch.
And when Mae comes back in again, Lilly has already managed to climb on the couch. She’s standing on Levi’s lap with her hands on his cheeks. The faintest of smiles plays on Levi’s lips, and he holds her by the waist, making sure she doesn’t lose balance.
The sight makes Mae’s heart swell. Her entire world is now in front of her. Her heart feels so full and so heavy at the same time. And her eyes turn misty again.
“Oi oi, don’t start with all the crying again?” Levi mutters as he notices her standing by the door.
And Mae sniffs, overwhelmed. “I’ll make you some tea?”
“Yaa- Da-dda love teaaa.” Lilly squeals, before Levi can even respond to Mae.
And Mae smiles. Her family is finally complete... a few years back she would have never believed she’d get the privilege of experiencing this.
And just as she’s about to turn towards the kitchen, Levi stops her.
“Mae…” His voice drawls, and he pats the spot next to him. “Tea can wait.”
_________________________
The world outside fades into a quiet hum as the bustle of the morning stretches into the lull of the afternoon.
The sun has draped itself over the earth, like a soft blanket. And Levi rests on the bed. He’s just finished his lunch, and he allows himself to sink into the mattress.
Time seems to have been caught in the gentle sway of the trees, and Levi takes his sweet time looking at the things around him.
Lily's soft toys are stacked on top of the cupboard. And there's a wooden cabinet, filled with all of Mae's favorite books.
The curtains are made of colorful crocheted patchwork. And somehow Mae has managed to bring most of her things from her house in Trost here.
But it's not just that. Levi's stuff is here too.
There’s a cupboard next to Mae with his clothes folded and organized just the way he likes it. His favorite novels and teacups are kept in a separate cabinet. And right in front of the bed, there's a wall with paintings of the three of them together.
It feels like nothing has changed, like he was never away.
And everytime he closes his eyes, his heart begins to race. But for the first time, the adrenaline that flows through him isn’t nerve-racking. It feels exciting
The curtains above his head billow softly with the wind. A mild breeze enters the bedroom and Levi tilts his face to bask in its warmth.
His whole world now lies in his arms. Snoring peacefully, with her hand wrapped around his finger. She's so tiny, that all of her body fits on his torso.
And he lets out a sigh as he feels the subtle rise of her tiny chest against his own.
“Are you not able to sleep, because all of a sudden there’s a child on your chest, and you don’t know where she came from?” Mae steps into the room, quietly shutting the door behind her.
“I can clearly tell where she comes from.” Levi comments as he looks at his dear daughter. “Is this why you were crying so much the day I was leaving for Marley?”
“Mhmm… “ Mae nods, as she rests her back against the door. And Levi closes his eyes, listening to her voice.
“You had to save the world Levi, you had to give it your all. And you would have died hating yourself if you knew you had a child coming into the world, that you weren’t going to be there for… As much as I was dying to tell you about my pregnancy, I thought it was best to keep it from you…” It’s an uncomfortable topic that defines the rest of their future, Mae’s eyes fall to the ground.
If only she would look up, she would see Levi with the faintest of smiles, thinking of how he can actually see her instead of imagining her.
“I know a child was never something you wanted… So I understand how complicated this situation can be for you.” Mae goes on and Levi lays still with his eyes shut in contentment, hoping for time to slow down.
“What?” She gasps, finally looking up at him. “Say something? I’ll never know how you’re feeling if you don’t tell me about it.”
Finally his eyes flutter open, and he looks at her through the curtain of his lashes. A faint smile plays on his lips, and his cheeks turn pink as he stretches out his other hand towards her. “Come here.”
In an instant, her features soften, turning into one of relief. And she smiles as makes her way to him.
She rests her head on his shoulder. And he drinks in every detail. As if he’s a parched man, dying of thirst. His heart pounds in his chest, and then his gaze falls towards her lips.
It doesn’t take too long for their lips to fuse together. It’s a simple kiss, but it’s been years.
They part in bliss.
And Levi brings her hands to his lips, pressing a doting kiss on her skin. She’s his to keep, his to salvage. He can’t put his gratitude into words.
“Thank you.” His voice is heavy. “ I-I…” He wants to tell her how happy he is to be next to her. He wants to tell her how exhausting it was without her. And that he can’t believe she’s all his. He wants to tell her about all the letters he’s written to her. But his heart is lodged so deep in his throat that he can’t squeak out the words he desperately wants to say.
“Rest my love.” She keeps her thumb on his lip, tracing his bottom lip. “We have time.”
His eyes flutter shut at her words, and her hand reaches to the top of his head. She starts combing out the hair that falls on his forehead.
His old scars have faded, almost blending into his skin. And the hard muscles on his chest have been replaced with soft dimpled skin. The lines in the corner of her eyes run deep.
He’s softer now. Marked by age, but just as beautiful.
Her finger traces down his cheek, following the scar that runs across his face. The feeling of his skin dipping under her fingers almost feels overwhelming.
“Levi,” she calls, caressing the side of his face. And he responds by leaning into her touch.
“I can’t believe you’re real,” She murmurs.
The silence is blissful.
And Levi feels his heart flutter, just like it did when she held his hand for the first time.
“Mae…” his voice trails off and he gulps. “How did Lily recognise me?... It feels like she knows so much about me?”
And Mae tilts her head up. “She’s heard stories about you ever since she was in my womb, of course she knows a lot about you… We even got someone to draw a portrait of you last year, because she wanted to see you for her birthday.”
“She thinks you’re some kind of hero Levi.” Mae yawns, “A few months back, she was trying to eat food by herself, and she ended up making a mess… which was fine because she was just learning, but she started crying frantically, and I asked her what happened? She said Dada wouldn’t like her, because she made a mess and Dada hates messes.”
Mae’s eyes trail to the way her daughter sleeps, with her cheek squished against Levi’s chest, and her eyes are shut close in peace. “She thinks you’re some kind of hero.”
And Levi remains silent. Afraid the words will ruin the tender moment.
It might seem like he’s dozed off, but the pink crawling on his cheek tells otherwise.
And Mae looks at him with the softest of smiles. For the first time in a long while, her heart feels complete.
“Actually she is right… you are a hero.” She mumbles as she closes her eyes in peace.
And a single tear slips past his eye.
He’s finally home.
Thoughts? Thoughts? Thoughts?
I know its a very simple, cliche, happily ever after ending, but I really REALLY wanted Levi to have a family of his own, and experience a normal, happy life, which is why I made Mae pregnant lol.
To anyone who has made this far. I would love to know your thoughts on the entire story. Things you liked, didn't like. Your feedback is crucial.
I'm going to start editing this fic from now on, and whatever you say will be considered. So I would love to know your thoughts on what could get better and be improved.
Something else, I'm very excited about is designing and illustrating a book cover (since I am a graphic designer lol) and get a few hardcopies printed for myself!! I'm assuming I'll be done with it by DEC 25th, so right now I do plan to post an Epilogue/ bonus chapter and share the book cover designs on Dec 25th. (I don;t know if anyone is interested in this, but I'm just doing it for myself hehe)
I would like to thank the many people who have been a constant support while writing this. I don't think I can tag everyone since they are on different platforms, so I'll just mention their names here. @Alexandra218943 , Cupidcup, @musumusuhasi and Abha , I wouldn't have completed this without you, so thank you <3
And to all the people who have commented, and interacted with the story at any point. I want to let you know that I've had a shit month at work, my self esteem has been at an all time low , and the only thing that's made me feel capable of something are your comments, and I keep going back to them! So thank you for that, I am immensely grateful!

snowy season.
pairings: levi ackerman x y/n
warnings: mention of disownment
word count: 20k (maybe more haha)
genre: fanfic romance
⟶ summary: what happens when everyone leaves for the holiday season, but you have nobody… but neither does captain levi?
an: hey everyone! i ended up with covid so i had time to make this little levi piece. he’s my safe place. i want nothing more in this world but him :,) so enjoy a snowy day with him !! ⛄️
✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧
the snowy season was always your favorite. there was something about the cold, bundling up under layers, wind hitting your face as you walk with a group of friends. it was almost a life reset,
until it wasn’t.
then you lost your friends, your family, all due to their ideals and how they hated yours. why couldn’t they love you because you joined the scouts? it was your choice. but to all of them you were nothing but wasted tax dollars to a useless cause.
but that’s not how you saw it.
you left so others could have that walk with their friends and so little kids could still build a snowman. so people could live.
but now it’s snowy season, and here you are,
alone.
it was early morning, the snow falling gracefully. you finally decided to get out of bed in your scout dorm and look out the window. in your heart you still appreciated everything, but there’s more weight on your heart when you let a soft smile at the elegant scene out your window. you decided maybe you should go for a morning walk like you used to do with your best friend armin. but he was in shiganshina for the holidays.
along with the rest of the 104th squad.
the only people who stayed on base besides the high staff like Captians and the Commander were the few stragglers who had no family or didn’t want to leave for the weekend.
still in your room, you pulled on your entire scout uniform, boots and hooded cape. you were off duty, but this life is what you knew and you’d continue today like any other day.
you stepped into the hallway of the castle, pausing quickly as the old floors creaked. the large clock rang quietly signaling it was four in the morning. you let out a sigh, knowing it was officially the day before your holiday.
you quietly went down the steps and made your way outside. it was very cold, and you felt your nose go pink very quickly. you decided nonetheless to walk the grounds in a large circle.
as you walked you felt a bit lighter, but nowhere close to where you should be. as you made your way in a full circle you stopped in your tracks because someone was at the door.
captain levi stood, also in full gear, his hood up causing his bangs to lightly feather his eyes. he simply stared at you, your cheeks as red as your nose, your fingertips without gloves.
he approached you without a word and you weren’t sure what to say either. he whipped out his black gloves from his pocket and gently took your hand, to put them on for you.
“i thought you would’ve left.” he said as he rolled the gloves on your cold fingers.
“oh, i don’t really have anybody, sir. it’s just me.”
he grabbed your other hand without a word and put the gloves on your other hand. he put your hands in a clapping position and lifted them up to his mouth, letting out a warm breath of air, letting your fingers finally feel warmth.
“yeah, me either.”
he puffed air onto your fingers one more time, holding them tight so the heat wouldn’t escape.
“thank you, sir.” was all you could say. levi ackerman, humanities strongest, was your long time secret love. everything about him made you love the world a little more, even after all you went through. you never dared to speak word of it, but this gesture reminded yourself how much.
“we aren’t on duty until monday. i’d rather not hear my work name, y/n.” he looked at your footprints going in a circle, and before you could apologize he followed them, “were you walking?”
you blinked at his suddenness and followed him, “yes. i… well to be honest i love this weather. it helps me think and so does walking, so i decided to do both.”
he stopped to look at you, the way that made your skin crawl. he was a captain for a reason. he had this look like he see your thoughts and feelings, and it scared you because you didn’t want him to find out how you felt about him.
he suddenly stuck his arm out to you. shocked, you hesitated and then took it. it’s normal for a captain and a soldier to take a walk together… right?
“who did you lose?” the captain said after a long silence.
your heart dropped, “what?”
“i can tell a thing or two, being raised in the underground. who did you lose when the wall fell?”
your sighed, “to be honest, i was one of the lucky ones who didn’t lose anyone that day.”
he stopped walking and turned to you as the wind kicked up a bit, knocking his hood down, “but you said you were spending this weekend alone?”
“yes…” you brushed your hair out of your face, some anxiety picking up making you want to walk again. “it’s honestly embarrassing as to why but—“
you went to walk away and his hands grabbed your shoulders pulling you right back to where you were, in front of him. but you noticed it was a little bit closer.
“i’ve lost people in more way than i can count.” he said trying to open a conversation door, talking quieter than his previous words.
you noticed his hands were still on you and you tried not to think about it as you spoke, “unfortunately… nobody wanted me.” you began looking at the floor now. your shoes were covered in snow, you could make out a pretty snowflake on the right one.
“keep going.” he said quietly.
you looked up and he seemed so patient. just looking at you. it was like the perfect picture and you hated yourself for it, but tears filled your eyes. how come he can look at you like this but your family can’t? your hometown friends? how come the only person who can is your captain who you loved so much?
“they decided to disown me if i joined the scouts. i told them my heart and soul was to the cause. and they told me i was nothing but wasted tax dollars and i never heard from them again. i know they are all gathered tonight, it’s embarrassing because how do i go from being the glue to a family to shunted into the dark?”
he didn’t say anything and you felt him examine your fragile state.
“they don’t deserve you.”
your eyes widened and you looked up at him. he still had on that blank stone face, but he grabbed you softly by the elbow and led you back inside the castle all the way into the dining hall with a large fireplace. he stay you down and lit a fire, which you thanked him for but received no response. he walked away leaving you wonder until he came back with two mugs of black tea.
“thank you.” you said kindly.
“they don’t deserve you, y/n. i mean it.”
you could’ve choked on your tea, but kept yourself together. you thought you both had moved on from the conversation but he had been thinking about it this whole time apparently.
“levi,” causing his face to turn pink for only a second until he drank a sip of tea. “you don’t have to say that, it’s okay.”
“you’re my best soldier, and probably the best person here. you’ve taken blows you damn shouldn’t have for other cadets, you take more hours and put in more effort than others at your level, and you still take time for people to feel welcomed. so no it’s not okay, i don’t like my soldiers being talked about like that.”
he took a sip of his tea as if he didn’t say a thing, leaving you speechless. “wow… thank you. i didn’t realize how much that bothered me until you pointed all these things out about myself.”
you both looked at the fire in a comfortable silence until you finished off your warm drinks. he stood up and took your mug.
“you’re appreciated here, especially by me. don’t think otherwise. you at least have one person who would bend themselves goddamn backwards for you. okay?”
you smiled and quickly wiped a tear, hoping he wouldn’t see, but of course he did.
“i hope you know the same, levi.”
he looked at you with that look again, blinked, and walked away to get rid of your mugs. the clock rang, and the remaining scouts entered the dining hall for breakfast.
you stayed where you were on the bench by the fire, feeling his ghost next to you, holding your hands and puffing hot air into them with a smile on your face, not knowing the captain was cleaning the dishes replaying the same thing.
maybe the snowy season won’t be so bad this year.

Shy gn!reader goes to their first date with the Demon Brothers
Characters: Mammon, Levi, Satan, Asmo and Beel (x reader, separately)
Main Masterlist
Part 1 , Part 2 , Dateables version
Romance Anon: Could I request headcanons for Mammon, Leviathan, Satan, Asmodeus and Beelzebub react to shy gn s/o who asked what he would like to do for their first date because he made them happy by accepting their confession so they want to make him happy?
.
A/N: I asked my brain, "hey, how about we write a little bit" and it answered "how about we fucking don't"
.
Mammon
He’s ready to turn every single one of your outings into a date, but he’s also excited to have the opportunity of organizing the best first date you’ve ever had.
He’ll make sure you won’t ever regret confessing your undying love to him.
It needs to be memorable and special, so going to the casino is a big no-no. You’ve gone together numerous times already and the image of losing every piece of gold in his pocket and his wallet in front of you on such a special occasion makes him shiver in fear and embarrassment.
A fair or a festival are good choices, but, as much as he’d love watching the city skyline on the ferris wheel or winning a plushie for you to cuddle and think of him, those aren’t available all of the time.
The idea of having dinner and a movie makes him remember the projector in his room, but his brothers could spoil that very easily and bile reaches his mouth at the possibility.
You could go shopping, but that doesn’t feel too intimate, does it?
He becomes desperate after hours of thinking and scratching his head and it’s not until he enters his car to go out for a drive and clear his mind that he realizes he has the perfect solution.
Having dinner together and watching the city skyline are romantic activities, but who says you have to do it at home or on top of a fair attraction?
It’s not even two days later when you find yourself sitting on his car’s hood with take-out ramen in your hands, patiently waiting for him to get a blanket out of the trunk.
The chirping sound of crickets and the distant city noises fill the cold night, but the only thing he can think of is the fondness of your embrace slowly warming his body and making him smile like a fool.
Leviathan
He’s already happy that you like him back and he kind of forgets about everything else, so your offer feels like a slap in the face. An enthusiastic reminder that you’re both now starting a relationship.
That thought makes him cry and yell in the emptiness of his room with non-contained happiness.
He fears you’re going to be disappointed with his ideas for your first date, though.
Going out of the house makes his heart pound in apprehension, anxiety quickly scratching his neck and prickling his brain with needles.
Reading through his manga collection, watching multiple shoujos and playing every otome game he has only make him feel worse and inadequate for you.
Why do you want to go out with someone like him? Reclusive, a bitter sad excuse of a demon who can’t get out of the house without an incentive or a pep-talk.
Do you still like him, despite all of that?
Or is it that… you like him including all of that?
Do you want to be seen holding hands with him? Do you want everyone to know that you like him, of all people?
He can’t set your first date in his room, that would be too pathetic; but, at the same time, going to a café like any other normie couple doesn’t feel like him at all.
What’s a place that combines the comfort and privacy of his room and the outside world?
He asks Henry and his beloved pet stares at him with unblinking eyes. Almost immediately, reality hits him like a train.
Of course! The Royal Aquarium!
The blue lights and the submarine life couldn’t be a better substitute for his room and you’d get out of the house! It’s perfect!
Plus, he gets the opportunity of showing off his knowledge of the ocean, something he hopes will impress you.
He wants to do more for you because you deserve it, but he needs time.
There’s a Ruri-chan convention in a few weeks. Maybe you could go together…
For your second date, perhaps…? No pressure, though!!
Satan
He’s a romantic at heart and he’s been picturing how your first date could go since you confessed to him, so you can’t imagine the happiness he felt when he was granted the opportunity to let all of those ideas become real.
A big gesture would feel impersonal and kill the essence of a newborn relationship, so, although he wants to impress you, Satan will not go overboard.
There are museums where he could show you his knowledge on Devildom’s art and history, but he doesn’t want to spend your first date speaking like a pedant scholar.
There are also high reviewed bookstore cafés, as well as his beloved cat cafés, where you could go to have a hot beverage in a soothing space, but that isn’t exactly what he wants.
He wants to talk to you, hear the nervous stammering in your voice while you blush and struggle to look at him in the eye, and going to a bookstore would quiet your conversations, so he keeps that idea for the future.
The cat café is his favourite, but you would expect that from him and he wants to surprise you at least a little.
He gets the perfect idea while feeding the stray cats behind the House of Lamentation.
Knowing where every single cat in the neighbourhood lives, as well as those who prefer the outskirts of town or even the countryside, shows him a part of the area that no one else has ever seen.
A few days later, Satan looks giddy and enamoured walking by your side while you both feed the cats you encounter, following a path full of flowers that lead you to an abandoned viewpoint.
You’re sitting together, surrounded only by the felines that know when to leave you alone, and, despite the beautiful scenery that displays beyond, Satan can only look at you.
Asmodeus
His first impulse is to go all the way.
Showing you around for his fans to know that you two are dating sends a shiver of excitement down his spine, eyes glowing in delight while he ponders which outfit he should wear so he can match with you.
His plans for your first date seem generic, but a closer look into it lets you know that he has it all planned to make you both the centre of attention.
Other’s and each other’s centre of attention, that is.
You’re colour coordinated, your orders in the café are trending in social media and the weather is so good that little to no people are staying inside their homes.
The both of you are being seen just as you deserve.
Beautiful, together, happy.
Jealousy and envy surrounds you, all of his fans photographing your first date with a mixture of admiration and resentment, wishing to be you; wishing to be him more than ever.
The combination of your company, the external flattery and his own satisfaction makes him think that there couldn’t be a first date better than this one.
He couldn’t be more wrong.
You’re not truly alone until the night comes and the residents of the Devildom have no other choice but to leave you to your own devices to continue with their lifes.
You walk close to him, bumping your hips with his until you both start smiling and giggling. Your voices are almost a hush and he finds the way you lean into him to hear his words better quite addictive.
He feels your breath on his skin, your eyes on his. His hands are itching to bring you even closer and never let you go and it’s not until you kiss under a streetlamp in an empty park that he understands why your first date is so perfect.
You’re with him and he’s with you. That’s enough.
Beelzebub
You already know what he’s thinking, although you may be misinterpreting his execution.
While, yes, he wants to take you out to his favourite dinners and restaurants, Belphie advises him to not go all the way. You don’t have the same stomach as him and ending your date feeling ill would leave a very bad impression.
He doesn’t want you to see him as a permanently hungry beast, anyways. It’s not what he wants you to think whenever he’s close to you, even if he acts like it most of the time, so it doesn’t take much convincing from his twin to agree and search for a more delicate plan of sorts.
He wants the full experience: drinks, starter, main dish, side dish and dessert, but why would you have all of that in the same establishment?
There’s a map in his head where every food related store is highlighted in bright neon colours.
A juice and smoothie bar to start the date followed by a true hamburger restaurant, not any of those fast food chains that only serve half of what is shown in the pictures. Far from there, a walk long enough for you to comfortably digest the food, is a stall specialized in fries. Made in a dozens different ways, they are the perfect last savoury treat to eat before ice cream or a pastry.
Asmo recommended him the retro ice cream parlor and Barbatos took him to the traditional bakery once.
If you don’t like burgers or fries, however, there are more places you could go, just tell him! Whichever you prefer, he’ll be fine with it!
His main goal is for you to have a good time with him, after all, and, although food is a necessity to keep his sin in track, he knows it won’t be what will make your first date perfect.
You being his date is what will make it perfect.

Imagine.
Chosen to be the next titan Shifter of Marley. Trained to kill innocent people on the other side of the world. Brainwashed to thinking them as devils.
Wanting to stop. But, will be a traitor if you do. Lost your childhood. Your happiness. Your sanity.
Now... Captured by the crazed Captain Ackerman himself.
Degrading you. Disgracing you.
You couldn't give information. Your family and innocent ones related to you will be killed. You signed a contract.
Levi decided to take it up a notch. You ruined him. He blames you for stealing his mind, body, and soul. Especially his heart.
Women are always the downfall of men.
But... The downfall of women are her children.
Levi smirked as he watched your lithe form swell.
As he expected, you gave in for your baby's sake.
You couldn't go back home. A traitorous war weapon on the loose. Wanted dead and hunted down. And the people of Paradis viewed you as an enemy and lab rat.
You were forced to be in Levi's arms. He enjoyed your dependency on him. He fathered all your babies each year for the past seven years.
You loved your children. How could you not? But, you were jealous of them. They had a doting and loving father. While you did not. And a wonderful childhood. His occupation and respect spoiled his children with a wealthy house, clothes, toys, pets and more.
Now, Hanji told you Levi is in the hospital. In critical condition. He might die this time. You should be happy. You were confused that you were not.
Why? He took your virginity, your identity and fixed you to be Mrs. Levi Ackerman, and stripped you out of your Marley Citizenship.
But, who will help you raise your young children?
You don't trust stepfathers. Your own father was cruel to sell you to the lab coats for money. Maybe good fathers like Levi was is rare.
Just because Levi was a good father and a good person means he was a good man. Right? He was cruel to you. Does your feelings and mental health even matter? Your oppression should be unheard?
You put a hand on your aching confused forehead.
Must be the symptoms of your current pregnancy.
Levi woke up from his small coma. He ran to you. And engulfed you in a hug. Trying to mold your body to his...
"My life flashed before my eyes." He recalled when Zeke almost ended him. "I saw your face the most. I thought of you before my friends and our children. I haven't spent any time with you compared to the others." He studied your angelic face. "I neglected the love of my life. What a fool I am."
He made you rest your head on his muscular chest. He was taller than you. You were average for a woman and he was short for a man. He still overshadowed you.
"Do you love me?" He titled your delicate chin up to see his dark navy eyes.
"I hate that I love you."

Second-place medal
Gender neutral mc X Satan
Description: Satan self doubting himself + being a hopeless romantic who fell face first in love w the mc<3 / uhh one sided fake dating?? (Story sets in season1 of the og game and ends when mc first leaves devildom, touches upon Satan’s past. (ANGSTY))
Satan was no fallen angel, yet he faced the same hate as his "brothers.”
He was no less of a demon than everyone surrounding him in this unknown world where he simply came into existence out of another man’s anger, yet he was still put on the same boat as those six fallen angels. He was known among his own kind as a “false” demon. Of course he will be hated; though he was never an angel, he is the shadow of the very fallen angel who led the rebellion.
Born out of the seraphim’s wrath and hatred, that’s all he knew. From the moment he came into existence, all he felt was pain, and all he was filled with was wrath. He watched as the six god-forsaken angels struggled to grasp the world around them. Some were in denial of their halos turning into horns and their pure white wings turning black; others were in denial of losing their sister; and Lucifer, the man he ever so despises, has pushed his own emotions to the side and tried to soothe his brothers’ pain, but Satan was nowhere in the picture. No one soothed his pain and despair. Instead, he was chained up like some dangerous animal. a wrathful monster to be tamed and not comforted when all he needed was solace. And that’s when, for the very first time, he unlocked a new emotion: loneliness. He was born into the world wrathful, and that’s all he knew and understood until he was locked away for the first time. He felt lonely—very lonely. Seeing how, despite all the pain, the six fallen angels who call themselves brothers had each other, they understood each other’s agony while no one understood him. They repeatedly called him brother and part of the family, yet they were terrified of him, yet he was misunderstood, yet he was chained up. With time, he started to find comfort in being locked away. then at least he wouldn’t be anywhere near those six fallen angels. Being in their presence made him furious; they all had the same history, shared memories, and had known each other for aeons, and he just spawned out of one of the fallen angels' pain. To them, he was a stranger, and they were nobodies to him but forced to call each other family.
Years passed, and demons started to accept fallen angels as part of their realm, as government officials, as their friends. Despite the numerous times the six fallen angels and a false demon proved to be worthy of their strength and their placement in the hierarchy, there will always be those who will be intolerant of them. Just like that, centuries passed, and Satan found himself getting closer year by year to those six strangers. With time, he started to view them as his family, as they viewed him as their beloved brother, but he still resented Lucifer.
So much so that when the future king of devildom announced the exchange program and gave Lucifer the honor to choose a human exchange student, Satan’s mind came up with hundreds of plans and ideas on how to make the year beyond miserable for the pride demon.
Came the day the human was summoned into devildom. Other than the future king, Satan was beyond excited, but for all wrong reasons. Everyone found it odd how happy Satan was for the exchange program. Lucifer knew immediately that his precious little brother was up to no good, and he strictly told Mammon to keep an eye on him.
Satan smirked when he laid his eyes on the human, imagining all the ways he could fool them into doing whatever he wanted, put them in danger, and do anything and everything to get on Lucifer’s nerves. While the future king and his oldest brother were welcoming the human, he kept daydreaming of how he would put the MC right into the lion’s mouth and get the human to be the sole reason behind Lucifer’s anger and frown. He will make sure the year is beyond burdensome for his older brother. On the ride to the house of lamentation, Satan wasted no time getting to know the human. The more he knows about this weakling, the easier it will be to manipulate them and get them to do whatever he wants. Seeing Mammon’s complete disinterest in babysitting a human, he knew he could easily use his demonic magic to influence the human, as the very brother who was tasked with looking after the human could care less, but he was worried about Lucifer detecting his magic on the human. There was only one way—the old-school way. Spending more time with the human, going on dates, and excessive texting.
Not even giving the human a chance to grasp all that’s around them, Satan demanded their attention and time.
Satan sat on his bed, surrounded by papers upon papers of scribbled-out words and sentences, not knowing how to write a goodbye letter to MC, as tomorrow would be the day of their departure. In pure silence, he slowly came to the realization that that was the biggest mistake he had ever made. And the very paper he was holding that he poured his heart out on, confessing his ever-dying love to the human he fantasized of harming, he tore in half with intense fury—an emotion he has not felt ever since the human stepped into his life.
"Would you like to go for a walk with me? I can show you around the gardens of the house!”
This was the very first time Satan asked the MC to spend time with him. Mc, thinking of Satan as a kind gentleman, of course took to the offer. While Satan was only plotting a malicious plan to make his brother’s life more miserable than imaginable, as if having to take care of six grown demons wasn’t enough for Lucifer.
That day, on the walk, Satan discovered Mc’s favorite flower, then Mc’s favorite color. Satan began to infodump about MC’s favourite flower to impress them. Despite always desperately trying to prove to others that he is his own person and utterly different than Lucifer, he always compared himself to Lucifer and felt severely insecure. As if Lucifer were the better version of him, or better yet, he’s the inferior version of his big brother. One and only thing he prides himself on is his excessive knowledge. Whoever let it be, he always likes to show off his intelligence because he knows it is part of his charm. Some find it annoying while others find it attractive; either way, it is not something Lucifer does so that makes Satan different from his older brother. As Satan spit out excessive details about flowers while on the walk, he glanced back at Mc only to find not a single hint of annoyance or boredom on their faces. He was taken aback by their complete dedication to what he was saying. Normally, with so much unnecessary and excessive information, people would get bored, even annoyed. Yet here they were, with a soft smile on their faces, listening to him rambling on and on about some flowers.
“Would you like to go to the museum with me?”
Another day, another date. Satan bought Mc their favorite flowers and made sure they were in the color that Mc loves. Of course, all that is just to get to know the human more so he can fool the human into trusting him and doing as he says: As he stood there in the hallways of the museum, instead of admiring the painting in front of him, his eyes were fixated on Mc’s face. Studying the way their eyes scan the painting, the way their lips move as they ask endless questions about the paintings, the culture of devildom, the way their eyes light up when they understand the symbolism behind the painting, the frown in their face when a demonic tradition confuses them, or how gently they hold the flowers that he bought for them, how subconsciously they take in the scent of flowers with a gentle smile on their lips. Satan stopped in his tracks in complete shock. What are these thoughts that he is having? Why was his mind racing through hundreds of things at once? Before he could question himself more, he heard Mc voice call out his name.
“Satan, you agree, don’t you? Cmon, you can’t tell me that; that painting over there doesn’t look like Diavolo if he were a drag queen.”
“Don’t let Lucifer hear you say that,” he giggled.
Wait, did he just tell them not to get in trouble? The outcome of this whole stupid idea of wasting his time with them and going on dates just to get them to trust him so that he can get them to do things to put them in trouble and piss off Lucifer would be him having a soft spot for them and wishing no harm upon them. Pffft, as if!
“Would you like to go to an animal cafe with me?”
It has been barely a week, and there is no hint of fear in the human’s eyes when dealing with Satan. As if he is not the avatar of wrath himself. How naive and innocent Satan thought to himself. When he came into existence, six fallen angels, who were once among the strongest angels of heaven and who fought god, thus becoming the strongest demons in devildom, feared him; they were frightened to death by his presence alone. The very people he called brothers today were once strangers who are still, to this day, terrified of his wrath. Yet this human is sitting right in front of him, fearless. In fact, they look like they enjoy his company and his talks. He stared in awe as the human loosened up in his company, the way their gentle hands petted the cats, as their angelic-sounding giggle echoed in his head, as he started to feel warm and fuzzy instead, as his heartbeat sped up as he scanned the human’s face, desperately searching for fear, annoyance, and boredom in their expression, but instead he was bewitched by their beauty. Satan’s cheeks turned red as he tried to comprehend everything that was going on in his head while his heart was skipping one beat after another.
Recalling all his memories of Mc’s arrival and their interactions from the very first day, Satan has come to the conclusion that it was all a big mistake. He was plotting to get the humans to trust him so that he could use them to cause chaos around the year. Instead of using magic to get them to do whatever they wanted, he went on dates with them. Satan still sat on his bed with the torn paper in his hand, repeatedly telling himself how much of a big mistake all that was because now he had fallen hopelessly in love with a mortal being. Who was a nobody at the beginning of the exchange program but now has seven demons head over heels for them. Satan knows he is an intelligent man, with a charming personality and good looks to top it off. He is not hesitant to compete with his brother over MC. Well, he’s not hesitant to compete with only five of his brothers over MC. When it comes to Lucifer, he feels….threatened. Lucifer Morningstar was once and still is everybody’s favorite, and even to this day, angels admire him as if he isn’t even a demon. Lucifer Morningstar, who to this day is crowned to be the strongest, Lucifer Morningstar is the man who is the sole reason behind Satan's existence. When compared to him, Satan is a walking second-place medal; he is in Lucifer’s shadows, and he should act like it. Satan tried to push away his insecurities, but they were getting the best of him. Ever since MC swept him off his feet, he has been on cloud nine. The avatar of wrath was not living up to his purpose; the very wrath, rage, and fury that he was so blinded by his whole entire life vanished in that human’s presence. For once, he felt the inner peace that he was so longing for. He loosened up in their presence, felt joy, and understood what love meant. Unknown emotions flooded his heart one after another, and all he could hear in his head were the echos of MC’s name. In the past, he was in denial. He believed it was the thrill of pushing Lucifer buttons, perhaps even lust. Demons are known to be tempters, and the attraction he was feeling towards MC must’ve just been lust, but no. It was love in the purest form. Despite coming up with numerous excuses in the beginning, Satan knew deep down that he, in fact, was doomed. When he finally accepted his true feelings, Satan discovered that it might’ve been too late. Though he was the first to fall for the MC, and he sure fell very hard for them, face first, but now Mammon, Asmo, Beel, and Levi all fell for their charm as well. Satan took it as a challenge to win MC over and decided to take things slow, thinking there’s a very beautiful and unique feeling to pinning for someone you love ever so effortlessly, but now he sat on his bed regretting that foolish decision and wishes he confessed to MC his feelings the very moment his heart skipped a beat because now he has to compete against the only demon that makes him doubt himself. He is nothing but the shell of a man who was once the Morningstar of Heaven, God’s favorite, Lucifer Morningstar.
