Summary: The first thought Daryl had while bouncing up and down as Jivin’ Pete’s preparing the gun is of his Ma, God rest her soul. His second thought is of Wayne.
I blacked out for 2 hours and when I came to I wrote this oops.

Rosie: as much as i love Rosie/Wayne, i feel like they did her right. Rosie likes staying home to read, but she fuckin’ loves rescuing dogs more. she’s a great gal. she’s the only one of the hicks who isn’t ‘stuck’; she knows exactly what she wants and she’s making it happen. she wants Wayne to come with her, but from the delicate way she went about it, she already knows his answer, and she’s not surprised when he finally catches up and twigs.
good for her for going after what she wants and making it happen.

That dog will hunt.
so first the McFuck of all,
Tumblr media
called it! Katy is a fuckin’ killer. mess with her or hers and you won’t live. i’m amazed Angie and Marie Fred got off with just the falcon kick.
secondly: again, i called that Katy is the spokesperson for her and Wayne. if he can’t or won’t talk, for whatever reason, he looks to Katy. he told Mick to suck his dick and then didn’t have a single thing to say to him. Katy does all the talking so Wayne doesn’t have to.
third: this dynamic ranks up there with the ‘No more buts,’ ‘kids with problems’ and ‘i made you an appointment,’ conversations, in terms of Wayne being kept on a short lead. he lets his women run his life from can to can’t and he likes it that way. he just shows up and does what he’s told, and if he’s lucky, he’ll get called a good boy. that is literally all he wants out of life. well, that and regular walkies. and a good itchin’s and a-scratchin’s behind the ears.

and another thing: fine, sure, ‘i made you breakfast’ isn’t exactly ‘we’re getting the polycule back together,’ but it still feels like character regression. she’d emphatically grown beyond them by the time she broke it off with Reilly in s4. okay, sometimes people do reconnect, and the boys are a little more mature now, but they’re still pretty little idiots, and they’re not gonna change. seeing her back with them feels less like settling down than just… settling. it’s disappointing.

Lily: while i don’t mislike her, she’s also a clear foil to Wayne and Katy, and is there to compare/contrast against them. she’s pretty well fleshed out even so, but she’s also just a narrative device, and she fulfilled the function for which she was created. i think it’s weird that so many people on Reddit are reading her as the future Mrs. Wayne Letterkenny, even though he was 1000% not at home to any of her flirtations. she’s adrift while the rest of them are ‘stuck’. Mexico is her Vancouver. while either of those conditions continues to be true, there’s no chance for her and Wayne.

Katy: i find her arc fairly dissatisfying, tbh tbh. it’s essentially the same one she had in s2&3, just sub Mexico for modelling and add her waffling more, which is extremely uncharacteristic for her. Katy’s curious, she wants to find things out, but she’s not indecisive, and she usually knows what she wants. not to say that she’s impulsive, but, like Wayne, she’ll really think things over and get after it.
