Hey guys, this is Shabnam. I'm 27 and in bar exam mode. I'm a first generation Persian-American :3 I basically made this blog as an outlet for my obsession with every decade before the one I was born…also I accidentally made a Phil Hartman fan account my main here instead of this 🙃

I have made over forty McGoohan fancams but even my family members don't know about them so I'll spare you the details for now. But this scene is Columbo history and if you still don't want to vote for Patrick McGoohan after watching it then I have nothing left to say.

Patrick McGoohan is in a poll once again and he’s ranking low (again) and I am pissed (again, even though McGoohan would’ve prob not given less of a hoot) 😡
I mean, I know Robert Vaughn is great, but this is McGoohan we’re talking about 🤷🏻♀️ it’s between the “if you or a loved one has been diagnosed with mesothelioma” and the man who destroyed AI in the 1960s 👁️👄👁️
Patrick McGoohan Vs. Robert Vaughn
Propaganda
Patrick McGoohan - (Danger Man, The Prisoner) - the prisoner, which mcgoohan created, produced, and starred in, is arguably THE cult classic of 60s television. its themes are still startlingly relevant today and its distinctive amalgam of surrealism, social commentary and deadpan weirdness has influenced countless works since. he also starred in one of my favorite columbo episodes and directed several more.
Robert Vaughn - (The Man from U.N.C.L.E, The Protectors, Hustle (season 1)) - Although Robert Vaughn always is handsome, he's one of those men whose attractiveness really lives off his facial expressions and also imperfections. You have to see him in action doing subtly silly faces and with his kinda puppy dog eyes and naturally pouty lips. Personally I never know whether I want to hug and comfort him or have him shamelessly flirt with me. And that's hot!

Additional propaganda below the cut
Patrick McGoohan:
Robert Vaughn:
He's hot! He's smart! He got time off being one of the most famous people on tv to go to USC to take night classes and earned a PhD. He was one of, if not the first actors to speak out against the Vietnam War. When the Beatles came to the US the first time they asked to meet him!

Once upon a time, Patrick McGoohan created a fairy tale where he put a curse on every blorbo blogger who dares to put him on this hellsite. And if it's not clear enough yet, I would rather he had sent a dragon for me to fight instead.
Vote for him, if you dare.

#patrick mcgoohan#danger man#john drake#television#1960s#if I were a man I too would’ve been more enthusiastic than necessary to flare my coattails like Pat in the last gif#Pat is great but holy hell he truly dressed to the nines here like good for him#this kinda makes me wish he always dressed like this but I don’t think men find these tuxedos to be particularly comfy though so 🤷🏻♀️#to be fair I never quite understood the enthusiasm behind putting a bow on a man’s neck like…where did that come from? 🤔

Michael Redgrave in The Browning Version (1951) dir. Anthony Asquith
#the browning version#michael redgrave#anthony asquith#terence rattigan#I remember reading somewhere that Corin Redgrave said the pawnshop owner in Mr Arkadin was the only gay character his father ever portrayed#👀👀👀#this film is a HUGE comfort film for me and perhaps the biggest lesson one could possibly get about self-love

It’s embarrassing just how unhinged I was in 2015 👁️👄👁️
On another note, the biggest sign of growth is the transition from being a Laurence Olivier fangirl to being a Vivien Leigh fangirl, there, I said it 🤷🏻♀️ like it’s honestly embarrassing just how much I willingly overlooked about Olivier when I was 18 simply because I had a crush on him 🫣

Michael Redgrave performing John Of Gaunt’s “This Scepter’d Isle” speech from Richard II
This is (although oddly it’s not mentioned in the Strachan biography) probably Michael’s last performance. It was recorded in 1977 (some years after his final stage performance) as part of the epic Vivat Rex* production for BBC Radio (which Radio 4xtra have been kind enough to repeat this year. The Jubilee has been good for something).
Considering that he was almost completely debilitated at times by his Parkinson’s, and this was nearly a full performance of the play, it’s astonishing how vital he sounds. Richard II is not my favourite play (though I studied it so I know it well) but this - along with the “We are such stuff as dreams are made on” from The Tempest - is a speech that never fails to move me. To hear Michael - old and somewhat frail - speaking it makes me very emotional.
*The cast of Vivat Rex is obscene. Richard Burton narrates it; Derek Jacobi is Richard II. John Hurt is Edward II. Basically think of a British stage actor in 1977 and they’re probably in it somewhere.
#michael redgrave#shakespeare#richard ii#1970s#this makes me want to read Richard ii so bad#I’ve read Richard iii and I love it so…we’ll see how this goes 🤔

As a fan of Grandpa McGoohan, I approve of this 👏🏼
This hiatus isn't going to end very well but my holiday is coming soon I swear. I just realized that something was still missing on this blog and it's grandpa McGoohan in fashion magazine.

I would watch ten hours of youtube reaction videos to this casting of the French Minister of Finance by Irish people, lol.
#patrick mcgoohan#the man in the iron mask#1970s#I actually once had a really bad experience in the Foucault restaurant in Paris so I was sad that McGoohan portrayed him in this film 🥺😔#basically our food was served super slow and very cold and the servers were incredibly rude#only a few weeks later the gilet jaune protestors set the restaurant on fire and it was cathartic to learn about that ngl#for legal reasons no I was not involved in that

"And I remember when I first told him that I wanted to be an actress. He said, 'When you open your mouth, be clear about what you're saying, have the right intent and don't be tentative'. And I always remember that. And now when I still watch his work, I realized that that's how he worked. Believe everything you say. Don't say it unless you believe it." - Catherine McGoohan

My love for this episode runs so deep, y’all have no idea 🥺
If I get a dime for everytime I say "Someone send me to the hospital right now" during Once Upon a Time I would be a millionaire.

I sincerely think “The Prisoner” is so tied to Patrick McGoohan and his life/existence/experience in this mechanical world that, if anyone had the chance to make a reboot of this show, they lost it when they turned down McGoohan’s 1990s script for the sequel and when McGoohan died.
Instead, as McGoohan himself said, all Hollywood is concerned about is explosions and cool spy stories, but this show is so much more than that, and if a reboot were to capture how the show is above a spy story, they simply cannot reach that same level of success because McGoohan isn’t here to participate in his life’s work.
This is Patrick McGoohan’s baby. To have someone else remake it without his involvement is impossible. Even if it does become successful, it will have nothing to do with McGoohan’s work.
If that rumored Nolan remake has to include these lines, I already feel sorry for whoever has to deliver them.

I have the feeling this guy is going to hand me forty pages describing the setting of his new show and a budget calculation on top of it.
