OMG OMG OMG
ok i'm mostly focusing on my polycule i have going on so uh bear with me cause i can ramble (one song per guy bc of this)
1.mike
calico kid - humorus ; smalltown boy - bronski beat ; geyser - mitski
calico kid:
"Youâll see what we all thought you knew Confusing reflection for truth"
you think you know what people think of you; mike is someone that spends a lot of time reflecting on what people think of him, especially as a lgbt middle class boy from small town 80s midwest america. his family isn't the richest but they do live in a place where appearance is important.
this often means he looks for his own faults in what other people see in him, as neglect doesn't leave you with much confidence especially if your support system in 3 other kids and your best friend's mom and older brother when they're poor and probably living paycheck to paycheck.
"Things get hard when your heart is missing Calico, you have known all along Calico Kid youâre not broken Feel so hurt but youâre still hoping"
my S/I doesn't come in until after all their upside down stuff, so this is about will, his best friend, moving to california in 1985. he was lost, depressed, but he hoped that seeing will again would magically fix everything and he can go back to being okay for a while, even knowing he just wants the care will gives him in general
"Why try keeping it inside Let yourself let go, enjoy the ride"
he's autistic, he has a lot of trouble with "presenting correctly" even if he has obvious anger issues. he often struggles sharing his feelings about his trauma because people often brush him off because his default is anger. i help him quite a bit with that in our canon (will and i tackle it together), just learning he can still be loved even if he's hurting and angry and he can enjoy his life
"Youâre still waiting for the dogwood trees But these seasons change as they please If youâd take some time to let what is be Then your words can match the worldâs melody"
pretty much the same. i'd say he embodies this more towards when we meet, but meeting me is kind of a sign that he won't have to change alone (adding will into it too as soon as i meet him)
2.will
nobody - mitski ; boys don't cry - the cure ; car lights - james marriott
car lights:
"Some more fake smiles, I'll just nod my head For one small glimpse of your breath"
will, my love, has always been a quiet guy. a romantic from the background by silent yearning. he'd rather watch his crushes from afar than actively seek them but he'll also do anything just to spend more time, stay a little longer, talk a little more... "c'mon just one more movie?" softie. and with mike and el (his sister, mike's ex)... he was pushing them together using his own feelings in canon when mike nor el really wanted to date each other but had serious comphet
"Forget my fears, ignore all my frets Just lay your mind on my chest"
he's tactile, though not as much as mike, but like before, just wants to stick as close as he can before he's left behind when his feelings are found out. mike and i love hanging off him so we can convince him to do cuddle piles
"You sure we're out of their sight? They're staring, through the car lights I hate what you're doing, I hate that it feels so"
he's self-conscious, aware of what being gay means for him and with everyone expecting him to be queer, of course he's paranoid despite liking small moments with mike and i even in the forest, our bedrooms, or next to the lake when it's empty.
"I'm not scared there's nothing to run from, well I feel like I'm falling for someone"
technically same as before, but because of all the overt homophobia he's afraid of being in love, of liking someone, even if he knows it's okay (we remind him all the time, though, even when he doesn't ask bc we want him comfortable)
You there. Selfshipper. Tell me what song(s) you associate with your F/O(s), and if you want to, say why! This is an open call to nerd and gush to your heart's content! Bonus if you do full lyric analysis bc that's my jam :)
#i tried and im TIRED#no sleep rawdogging the day at 6 am and caffeine makes me tired i dread work today yolo hope this is entertaining yippee#selfshipper#proselfship#but i love this little game!!!#i love music and i love my boys <3 i love talking about the music i have saved for them#. . . it is dangerous to promote unverified fundraisers! marryum-aljabill/Murryum Al Jabill/Marryum Al Jabill is a scammer. they previously linked to a known scam paypal account, and then edited their paypal link out of their post once people caught on
what's more, the only pictures posted on their gogetfunding link are taken from these three articles
https://www.timesofisrael.com/uk-charities-urge-government-to-welcome-gazans-with-family-ties-in-britain/ https://www.channelnewsasia.com/world/israel-hamas-war-gaza-talks-truce-ramadan-mossad-netanyahu-4184131 https://dppa.un.org/en/un-chief-calls-israel-to-spare-civilians-more-suffering-gaza

would you mind deleting their scam from your blog, or clearly labeling it as a scam so it doesn't spread to others?
please familiarize yourself with the posts of some current scammers while they are still under these usernames:Â fancystudentyouth, smwitais, glitteryfesthaks, tacofriends, millicah, mallycahs-blog, holiyfarrtfatuma, nuttydestinieallli, dutfullydeepdreamlland, beatriceegiveer, nako700, marryum-aljabill, kawaiipeachpainter, burningvoidbird, chieffurygiver
i really recommend looking at their pinned posts in order to better recognize scams, not just using this list as a blocklist, because once they are terminated they each will immediately remake their scams under a new username
I literally didn't know.
I don't have the energy, time, or knowledge to verify every single gofundme and donation link. So I am no longer going to reblog any of them unless it's a master post of them.
If I get any asks about sharing donation links, I'm sorry. I'm not going to and will delete the asks because I literally can not verify it. Again, at this point I'm only going to reblog long master posts of verified donation links.
#ask#thanks for letting me know#i had to wait a day before answering cause when I got this ask I was going to kneejerk react and honestly im positive#you are only trying to help even if I read it as aggressive. thansk for the links#this is still important to share#but im so fucking tired#and to anyone reading these tags who want to try or does these scams#shame on you and fuck you. how DARE you try to use peoples tragedies for your own profit#as for the master post I reblogged once#ill try to find it again and pin it unless I find a newer one#anything about palestine/gaza/the genocide is just under the palestine tag#palestine#and to make it clear. of course I think its important to donate and/or just help where you can#but i am out of my depth here#honestly I just want to start just sharing stuff about their food and culture whenever I come across posts like that#especially since most posts I find about palestine is more and more tragedy and the horrors they are facing#its feeling like they are only being viewed as their tragedy#lets not forget they also have lifes and things to share too that are important to keep alive#this will also be under the palestine tag

Men who are a little bit dumb (itâs cute though), but who would do anything for you. He canât remember any important dates, never really performed well academically, and naivety is his second name â but he is a lover.
You always have to remind him of appointments (which can be a struggle in itself since sometimes you barely remember your own). You donât have enough fingers and toes to count the number of times he planned a date with you only for you to gently remind him of the dentist appointment he had that same day (so many dinner reservations and concert tickets gone to waste). He always makes it up to you with an extra date the next week, lots of kisses and chocolate as a token of his appreciation for putting up with his tendency to let those kind of things slip from his mind. You donât mind his forgetfulness though since itâs so obvious how much he loves you. In a sea of forgotten dates and appointments, he never fails to remember your birthday, important events in your career, and your anniversary. He even circles the dates in glittery red on your shared calendar, which makes you feel a little bit special.
He buys you flowers every week â or picks whatever he can find in the wild, flowers are expensive after all â he defends your honour like his life depends on it, looks at you like you hung the moon and stars, and he always takes pictures of you. Heâs your number one fan and hype man. He might be a little bit of an airhead, but he knows how to treat you right and heâs far from clueless when it comes to romance.
For instance, kisses and hugs. He is a huge cuddle bug, and youâre on the receiving hand of about thirty kisses every day he spends with you; on your cheek, your forehead, your hand, your neck, your lips, thereâs really no stopping him. Heâs the type to make you meaningful playlists with love songs that reminds him of your relationship, buy your favourite candy and win plushies for you at the local amusement park. Movie marathons are also a go-to date-night for him. Heâs the best workout buddy too, full of praise and admiration for you, hearts in his eyes. Heâs all muscles and not much brain, but his heart is so pure that you couldnât care less (plus heâs so buff, like whatâs with this gorgeous man).

What should you learn from your Sun's house?
Sun in the 1st house: You have to learn how to work in a team. Individualism and independence are wonderful, but do not forget that you are a part of society and interaction with people is inevitable. You need to learn how to listen and hear those around you. Don't resist working in pairs or in a team, it's okay to ask someone for help.
Sun in the 2nd house: You need to learn not to get hung up on finances, to switch attention from the material aspect of life to the lively emotional aspect. Be generous, share resources (but in moderation). Look deep down, not at the surface.
Sun in the 3rd house: The lesson here is that you do not carry information through yourself lightly, but seriously comprehend it and accept it. You should learn to slow down, slow down your mental processes and be more in the moment. When you are in your head a lot and thoughts are constantly spinning thoughtlessly in your head, you need to learn how to stop it and be in the moment.
Sun in the 4th house: People in this position may have a strong attachment to the family, so strong that it can stop their own development. Maybe it's not just a tie to the family, but specifically to comfort and safety. You need to learn not to be afraid to leave your comfort zone, not to get attached to your family so much that you forget about your own growth. Trust the world, the comfort zone may be wider than it is now, the main thing is to go beyond it and get used to a wider range of new things.
Sun in the 5th house: You need to learn how to express your creativity to other people, inspire them and motivate them. Appreciate not only yourself, but also those around you, whether they are friends or like-minded people. Be generous with the people around you and don't judge people for their personalities.
Sun in the 6th house: It may be important for the Sun in the 6th house to let go of control, to understand that people, just like you, are not perfect and this is normal. You need to learn to relax, not to take responsibility for something that is not your problem. Be more patient with other people, do not condemn their flaws and inconsistency with your standards. It's okay to make mistakes.
Sun in the 7th house: As the owner of this placement too, I realized an important thing for myself. You and I need to learn not to lose ourselves in relationships with other people. Attachment is not bad, but you should not focus on your partner / friend and put them at the center of your life. Learn to be alone, do not be afraid of loneliness, but accept it. Enjoy the time spent alone with yourself when you can take care of yourself or just relax. Find your favorite business, hobby and put yourself and your interests at the center of your life.
Sun in the 8th house: You need to take life changes easier. Rethink the situations in your head less, instead accept and let them go. Don't get hung up on getting revenge on someone, just let them go. Letting go and accepting is the way to harmony within. With them comes ease in life. Forgive other people and yourself.
Sun in the 9th house: In this house, the lesson will be tied to being in the state of a "student", not a "teacher". You should accept that you may not know everything in the world and your opinion may also be wrong and that's okay. Learn to listen more, accept more, absorb more. Do not teach people, do not think that you know how it will be better for another person. This is not your responsibility. People have different opinions, worldviews, and your truth may not be the truth for others. Don't impose your point of view.
Sun in the 10th house: Your lesson is not to give yourself completely to work, but to devote time to family, friends, and your hobbies. Learn to relax, remember about regular quality rest. Remember that you don't have to meet someone's expectations and exhaust yourself in order to be valued and loved. Patience and perseverance, of course, surmount every difficulty, but have you tried a long and high-quality sleep? Sun in the 11th house: It is necessary for you to learn to be flexible in communicating with people, to be able to share your feelings, and not to close yourself off from them. Accept that it is possible that you will not always do what you want and will not always be as individual as you would like. We live in a society, we are all connected and similar to each other.
Sun in the 12th house: Dear 12-housers, I understand that it can be hard for you to be down to earth, but you need to do it. Do not drown in your mind, get out of your stagnation and ascetism. Take a look at the world, communicate more with people, trust people. Don't miss the chance to have more joyful moments and experiences! Look beyond the usual, look wider.

Headcanons of the hashiras and their ideal weddings!!
(I WANT TO GET MARRIED :()
This is such a cute idea! The Hashiras would be such good spouses let's be honest. I wrote this as reader being a wife, I hope that's okay.
Also AHHH, I want to get married too! Then I'd have someone legally forced to help me stage fic scenarios and be a source of inspiration. That's the dream tbh
Ideal Weddings with the Hashira
Includes: Gyomei Himijima, Tengen Uzui, Sanemi Shinazugawa, Obanai Iguro, Giyu Tomioka, Kyojuro Rengoku, Mitsuri Kanroji, Shinobu Kocho Synopsis: What would your ideal wedding be like with the Hashira? (again Muichiro is my little baby and seeing him get married would be too much, but as a side part: he'd probably forget if you didn't walk him down the aisle yourself, so it would be a very wholesome event for the both of you) warnings: guys... it's up to you how you interpret what happens, but I know and you know.
Gyomei Himejima
Gyomei wants something small and personal.Â
The ceremony would take place at a shrine, an overall calm and peaceful event
He invites friends over for a reception in the backyard of the home you share
Gyomei, at all times, will have his hand either over your shoulder, on your thigh, or intertwined with your hand. He wants to keep you close, close enough to hug, close enough to kiss, and close enough to haul off when the party is over
The night ends with you falling asleep cuddled up next to him
Tengen Uzui
Tengen wants to go all out on your wedding dress, the decorations, the music, every little thing is amplified with magnificent splendor, thanks to your soon-to-be husband
The reception is an even bigger event, with floods of people you donât know dancing to music just so Uzui can show you off for the night
Everything had to be perfectly glorious because thatâs what you were
As the new wife, Makio, Suma, and Hinatsuru party with you all night, gossiping about how to best care for your beloved husband
Sanemi Shinazugawa
Sanemi would want just the two of you at the wedding except only those who mattered the most
The âafter partyâ is simply a retreat for the both of you. He whispers about showing you off to the world, shouting from the rooftops about how much he loves you, but tonight youâre only for him
He takes all the time in the world to show you just how much he appreciates his newlywed wife
Obanai Iguro
Obanai is a tricky one because once he fell in love with you, he already saw you as his wife. He would just start calling you sweet marital pet names in the midst of life, taking you by surprise every time
Eventually, youâd have to tell him that you wanted to actually get married, the whole shebang, but Obanai would have you sign the papers and put on the wedding dress for only him to see
He wouldnât be able to deal with anyone else looking at you from now on since your name and his were intertwined in eternity
Giyu Tomioka
Giyu leaves the planning to you because he canât be trusted with making so many important decisions
Heâs sure to love anything you decideÂ
When you walk up the aisle looking the way you do, he wishes he wouldâve been more involved because his face contorts as he starts to sob over how beautiful you look
At the reception, Giyu still canât believe that you took on such a stressful job and still smile at him with all the love in your heart. At the end of the night, all he can think about is how gorgeous you are when you still love him â even after he doesnât deserve it
Kyojuro Rengoku
Kyojuro wants a traditional wedding that makes you shine in the best way. Heâs wanted to tie the knot ever since he met you so at the moment heâs as excited as a child on Christmas morning
Itâs a charming wedding, one that would appear in a romantic comedy at the end with a âjust marriedâ car
Kyojuro carries you through the threshold of your home and not one guest sees either of you for many days because if thereâs one thing Rengoku likes calling you more than wife, is hearing you be called mama.
Mitsuri Kanroji
Mitsuri gets excited planning all the colors and ideas and together you make the perfect spring wedding with flowers and cherry blossoms everywhere.Â
Itâs back to the quaint and romantic Japanese countryside for your wedding, friends and family gathering around to share in the bottomless loveÂ
With Mitsuri itâs like the sun has gotten married to you, her smile is enough to warm your heart and when she kisses you â the whole world falls away
Itâs hard for you not to worship Mitsuri with how considerate she is every second of the day, so you end up showering her with surplus amounts of love
Mitsuri is thrilled to show you just how flexible she can be, in more ways than one.Â
Shinobu Kocho
Shinobu doesnât want anyone else to ruin what little time sheâll get to spend with you, so you elope
She takes you far away from everyone else and you travel the world, collecting medicinal flora and fauna, touring beautiful villages, and holding hands the whole way
Now that youâre her wife, everything falls into place, she only wishes her older sister couldâve met you.Â
Shinobu whispers to you every night how much she loves you and how sheâs damn sure your body could heal the world

If Logan Howlett/Wolverine was your partner. ENGLISH VERSION french here
notes : GN!reader + adjusted passages for AFAB/AMAB (assigned female to birth/assigned male at birth). English isn't my first language, so tell me if you see mistakes ;)
! warnings : sexual aspects (oral, fluff), war, violence, insecurities, jealousy, alcohol, cigar
2 065 words
Global
smell is very important for him, he doesnât like when you change your shampoo or face cream, and he is always sulky for days because of it.
in the same range, if he smells his cologne on you, he becomes a bit feral, growling in your neck and biting your skin.
heâs highly jealous, even if he doesnât make it obvious. Heâs more like contain himself, telling himself he shouldn't think that way, until it explodes and heâs pin on the floor the man who made you laugh.
furthermore, he lets you defend yourself, he intervenes only when he feels like you need to, or if you ask him.
same at home when you got a project in mind, like a furniture to build or a wall to paint, he will ask you if you need his help but if you donât, heâll not insist. Heâll always be in the same room though, to catch a photo framer or just look at you.
he is proud of you, and he says it a lot. When you finish a personal project, heâs always the first to hold you and say how proud he is.
sometimes you think he has a shitty memory, âcause he forgets the evening with your mutual friends or that milk is missing in the fridge. But when it is about you, he remembers everything. Often itâs him that reminds you about your board games evening with Ororo or even your medical appointments. So, he doesnât have a shitty memory, he retains only what is important to him.
he would love to be able to fall asleep on you, but his weight doesnât allow him to, because of the adamantium which makes him too heavy. So you try to cuddle him on your side by holding him tight against your chest, and you know that he loves it as much as you do.
the both of you made a lot of jokes, most of the people donât understand why you are laughing out loud and it pleases you, itâs between you two.
you love to spend your days with him, but sometimes he pushes you to go out with your friends âcause he doesnât want you to isolate yourself because of him. But you always find a way to bring a little something that belongs to him with you, like a scarf or a jacket or a love bite.
he took time to share his feelings, a long time. But now you two can talk about every subject, and in the end heâs quite talkative.
you love to give him nicknames, in fact you give him a lot and he remembers every single one.
he give you nicknames too, but there are only a few âcause they are meaningful for the two of you. Even if of course, âbubâ is the most used since the beginning of your relationship.
he smells a lot of things, with his smell but also much more with âhis instinctâ like you loved to name it. Of course he smells when a disaster's gonna happen and things like that, but he can also smell when you have a health issue, or any type of intern change, he smells it. He smells when youâre sad, when youâre hurt, when youâre overthinking, when you want to jump on his cock.
he doesnât give a shit about a lot of things, really a lot. You donât shave yourself ? He doesnât care. You fart or burp ? He doesnât care. One time, you were in a really bad condition and the pain was so hard that you couldn't wash yourself for four days, and guess what ? He didn't give a damn, all that mattered for him was your recovery. He is so comfortable with this, that sometimes he helps you shave yourself and he even enjoys it, so you donât cut yourself.
you two live quite away from the city, in a quiet place and a bit lost, but that means you are in peace, without noisy neighborhoods or attacks on every street corner.
Sexual life
your pleasure is his priority, in everydays life like sexual one. He can spend hours torturing you without touching himself once. In fact, he often forgets his own pleasure so much he loves hearing you scream his name under him. It is your job to pin him on the mattress and take off his clothes, even if he says that he is ok and that he can handle the pain. But you just have to look at him with your doll eyes and say something like âplease, it makes me high to suck your cockâ and he becomes hot as the sun.
about that, he loves blowjobs but heâll never ask for it, fortunately you can recognize the signs.
FOR AFAB : everytime he tells you how much he loves when you get wet quickly for him. And he loves making this wet audible while making huge movements with fingers/tongue/cock/toy, he also loves when you blush because of these noises.
FOR AMAB : he loves to titillate you until your precum drips all over your dick, and he also loves the noises your body makes, so if he has to speed up his movements to make these noises louder, he will without any hesitation.
when he cums, heâll do everything to let his knuckles away from your body, âcause he is always scared to not contain himself and that his claws go out.
same when he has freaky nightmares, heâll force himself to stay on his tummy with hands under his pillow.
he is the opposite of sauvage. He already spent an entire hour just kissing your body and smelling your perfume. I mean, he is always so rude and rough in everyday life, the bedroom is the only place when he takes his time and enjoys every single moment with you like it was the last one.
despite this, it happens that your intimate moments are much more eventful. When you spend a long time away from each other, or when a jealousy peak comes in the day.
heâs kinda from the old days, he doesnât have weird kinks, he just loves being with you. He has absolutely experience, but he always says that public sex or dirty talk were not his things. However, if it is you that proposes something new, like a toy or an outfit, he will always be part of it, and with a massive pleasure.
he is very attentive, and sometimes he prefers to slow down and even stop, because he feels and sees like you got something bulky in your head.
in the same way, he loves to know what you feel : he loves to ask you if you like what heâs doing, where he presses, the position you are in.
Everyday life moments
he loves when you sit on him, wherever itâs his chest or his hips or his face. If there are five seats, the only one you allow to sit on is his lap.
if you need to test something, he is always volunteering. For example, when you buy your face cream or makeup, he always ends up with about ten different cosmetic products spread out on his hand and arm.
when the both of you go shopping, he always makes a way to carry the heaviest bags without you realizing it.
heâll always say yes if you want to visit another shop, even if it is almost night or freezing outside. Sometimes itâs even him that suggests you go to a store because he saw the look you gave to this storefront.
you often make him laugh when you come up with old objects/songs/expressions that he knew decades ago.
he doesnât like when you say that but he really has cat similarities. When heâs against you, he curls up and wedges his face against your belly. And you can swear that you heard a purr coming out his throat, may it was only a growl, but it was in any way really cute.
he listens to old music, unexceptional for his age, and it always makes you smile when you see him sing quietly the lyrics that maybe your grandpa could have sung.
you always ask to taste or test what he is drinking/eating, unfortunately for you itâs often very strong in mouth (spice, alcohol, meat).
when he buys new cigars, you always ask to try one drag even if you don't like the taste. But you know it makes him happy to see that you try things he loves, even if he avoids making you taste too often âcause he doesnât want you to start smoking because of him.
you two have the habit of going for a long ride on his bike, when you feel a bit overwhelmed by some events or just life.
he loves winter, above all the seasons, and he can spend his day out just looking at the falling snowflakes.
Vulnerability
he frequently has nightmares, all violent and traumatic. In that case, he leaves the bed and goes to get some air, because he doesn't want you to see him angry or sad. But you always wake up, sometimes you let him alone âcause you know he needs it, and other times you take him in your arms.
he cries more than he admits, often after his nightmares. You know he doesnât like it, even if you say that crying is beautiful, he just canât feel that way for himself. So you pretend not to see his tears, you kiss his head and take him against your chest. The day after, he always thanks you, with words or actions.
when you have bad days, he smells it and he does everything to make you feel better. He even went to another city for some apple/cinnamon chocolate âcause you mention it.
Entourage
he doesnât have family, or at least not blood ties, but Charles and all the team take a big place in Loganâs heart, even if he doesnât say it.
you two often go for several weeks in the manor, you love to see a safe place open for every mutant and Logan needs to come back there sometimes, itâs kinda the only home he never has (with you, of course).
Charles is so kind with you, he immediately loves your person and he doesnât forget to say that to Logan.
you and Ororo are good friends, she becomes a bit like a sister for you.
Logan told you about his tricky relationship with Cyclops and you could see with your own eyes, they constantly send each other peaks.
he also spoke about Jean, and honestly, at first you donât like talking about her, you were afraid that he may still love her. But quickly, you realize that it was over between them, it was only a really big crush but he meets you and no one equals you, his words.
twice, you saw Magneto in the garden playing chess with Charles, but you preferred not to get involved, Logan doesnât like Magneto too and apparently it is mutual.
the x-men kinda became like a second family for you, they immediately welcomed you and youâll forever be grateful for that.
the first time Logan brought you here, everybody looked at you two with frog eyes. The pupils had a hard time believing that Wolverine was in a relationship, but it is.
Sentences that scream "Logan"
Iâm proud of you

Series Masterlist
At heart you were a skeptic. The world was bleak, and you refused to place your hope into it. That ideology alone saved you from emotional weaknesses time and time again. You didnât believe in people, as you learned at an early age, the only thing people were proficient at was causing disappointment.
Your mother and father loved you in their own ways. You remember tender touches from your mother, a caregiver at heart. She was always so careful with you, fearful that you might break.
Your father kept a lot of his emotions to himself. You rarely had a grasp on the kind of individual he was, but you knew his embrace was filled with warmth. Youâd like to think all of the things he didnât know how to say, he conveyed with a hug.
You loved your parents, but humanity did not. They were afraid of what they could not understand. All they saw was a group of monsters: Vampires that were a threat to them and their families. Their motivations didnât matter to you. They had orphaned you without any hesitation. In that moment you learned disappointment.
After the loss of your parents, you were placed with your aunt. Your motherâs younger sister, perhaps too young to raise a child. She tried her best with you, but it was hard. Neither of you were quite certain of the roles to play in each otherâs lives. She was a skeptic too, a woman who trusted no one, but herself. All she could do was instill in you her way of thinking.
She taught you about the dangers of attachment. Life had a way of being of cruel, according to her. She taught you how to protect yourself, not only with your hands, but with your brain. Without her there was a chance that you wouldnât have survived the way you had.
It was easy to be skeptical when you were alone. When there werenât many people like yourself around it was easy to not trust anyone. It was harder at Nevermore.
The school was filled with outcasts. People who could relate to being mistreated by society. On a more intimate scale, there were other Vampires at the school.
It was the first time you realized just how many of you there were. It was also the first time you realized how lonely you were.
You werenât a social person by any means. The other Vampires learned that quickly. The only person who didnât seem to mind was your roommate, Yoko. While others pushed to discover the workings of your personality, Yoko didnât.
Her indifference eventually piqued your interest after months of harassment from the others. You let yourself question her one night in your dorm.
âDo you not care to know anything about me?â
She put her phone down before answering you, âAre you suddenly in the mood to share?â
âYouâre the only person here that hasnât tried to pry into the details of my personal affairs,â you deflect slightly.
âHere, itâs easy for some people to forget how cruel the outside world can be to us. They forget that our lives are at risk in most places. I know what it can be like out there and I understand what that can mean. So, I get why you're not so eager to share, itâs probably not anything you want to remember.â
Her words resonate deeply with you. It was like they were pulling something inside of you that made you want to tell her. It was the first time you felt that way, so you listened, âWhen I was a child, my parents were killed by the normies. I learned then that people couldnât be trusted. Putting trust in others only leads to disappointment. After my parents died, my aunt became my legal guardian. She reinforced my beliefs and in part, is the reason why Iâm not too keen on socializing.â
âIâm sorry for your loss.â
There was a pause. Something in her tone told you she had more to say. You didnât know if it would be beneficial to continue the conversation, but you had already made it this far.
âYou wish to say something else?â
She didnât answer immediately, âWould your parents want you to experience a life without any companions? Living with no one to trust and no one to rely on sounds miserable. Especially when you consider how long we live. You may not understand it now, but finding the right people is usually worth the disappointments it takes to get them.â
You ponder on her words. The memories you had of your parents played in the back of your mind.
âI suppose that makes sense,â you spoke softly.
âNot everyone can be your friend, but that doesnât make them all your enemy.â
You nod in understanding, âIâd like to call you a friend, Yoko.â
For a long while Yoko Tanaka was your only friend. She was popular amongst your peers, meaning being around her outside of the dorm meant being around her friends. She gently pushed you to socialize a bit more. While you werenât exactly an open book some of Yokoâs friends became your friends.
Enid was a bit much initially. You didnât judge her energy or the bright colors. She was a very vibrant person, which you had to get used to. Underneath all of that excitement, Enid was one of the most caring people you had ever met. It seemed to be second nature for her to care about the people around her. She was fiercely protective of her friends and that included you. You trusted her the same way you trusted Yoko.
âI wish you'd let me paint your nails just once, Vampy.â
You and Yoko were situated in Enidâs room for a sleepover. The blonde was currently painting your roommateâs nails. She had been trying to persuade you for a while. You always declined her offers.
âI don't like it when you call me that. If you agree to retire that name, I will let you paint my nails,â you sighed internally, preparing yourself for what was about to happen.
Enid let out a squeal of excitement, quickly abandoning Yoko to get closer to you. Her hand reached for yours without hesitation. She began analyzing your nails, her file ready in the other hand.
âWhatâs your favorite color Vam- Y/n?â
The immediate slip up made you laugh a bit, âRed, dark red like-â
âA blood bag, very clichĂŠ Y/n,â Yoko interjected.
Enid glared at the other Vampire, âYoko don't ruin this moment. This is the first personal thing Y/n had shared with me.â
âItâs just a color,â Yoko argued back.
Enid shook her head dramatically, âNo, itâs Y/nâs favorite color.â
Yoko looked at you with her eyebrow raised, âWould you tell our pup another piece of information so she could let this color thing go?â
You think for a moment, trying to find something about yourself that you think Enid would be satisfied with.
âMy birthday is in February.â
âO-M-G, are you an Aquarius or a Pisces? I totally get Aquarius vibes from you. Things are starting to make a whole lot of sense. I wonder if our signs are compatible for friendship. Do you have Costar? You should download Costar.â
She rambled on about horoscopes until she finished your nails. After that she took your phone and downloaded Costar, making sure to send herself a friend request.
The only other person you made a connection with at Nevermore was Wednesday Addams. In some ways she reminded you of yourself. She was very intelligent and very private. Wednesday wasnât someone who loved being the center of attention, she just often found herself at it. Her pride would not allow her to run from it.
It wasn't something that was outwardly apparent, but Wednesday was an adventurer. She craved a challenge, which she would never find in a schoolbook. Wednesday needed a case to crack.
âHave you ever thought of getting revenge on the people who murdered your parents?â
âWednesday! You canât just ask her-â
You cut Enid off, âSometimes, but it wasnât just one person. It was an angry mob, so Iâd have to find them all first.â
âFinding them sounds like childâs play. I could probably do it in an afternoon,â Wednesday offered up her services.
You shook your head, âI wouldn't feel vindicated. Even if I killed them all, it wouldn't be enough. They robbed me of something truly priceless.â
You kept your eyes focused on the window. Watching students engage with each other on campus. The question created a thick emptiness in your mind.
You didnât see the way Enid glared at her roommate. Nor did you see the slight displeasure on Wednesdayâs face as realized her question was potentially insensitive.
Enid was careful to wrap her arms around you from behind. You tore your gaze from the window to turn into her arms. Enid had deciphered some time into your friendship that you preferred physical contact when it came to being comforted.
âMy question was inappropriate, forgive me,â Wednesday spoke flatly.
Enid let go of you, getting ready to unleash a hurricane of words onto the girl in black.
âI think itâs quite thoughtful of you actually.â
âHuh, how?â Enid questions.
You look into Wednesdayâs dark eyes, âThat was Wednesdayâs way of offering to help me get revenge on the people who wronged me most in life. It was a friendly gesture.â
Wednesday looked away from your intense gaze.
âOh, I get it now. Thatâs sweet of you Wends, weâll practice on the delivery next time,â Enidâs mood did a 180.
Wednesday rolled her eyes, âThere is nothing sweet about me. I was just trying to put my expertise to use. I beat Crackstone and the stalker, Iâve been terribly bored lately.â
Wednesday and Enid went back and forth for a while. You simply watched the converse once again getting lost in thought. Your eyes scanned the raven-haired girl. Your mind wandered to places it had never explored before.
Yoko had explained crushes to you before. It was in simple terms; terms that felt too simple for the strength of the feeling. It was an intense yearning that you fought against at every opportunity. Having a crush on Wednesday sounded like something trivial, a waste of time.
You knew how the girl felt about romance. She wasnât interested in it; in fact, the thought repulsed her. Yet as you learned from Yoko, you donât get to choose. The feelings act on their own with disregard for social etiquette.
You valued your friendship with Wednesday and did not wish to ruin it with your romantic feelings. So, you promised yourself to never reveal them.
âWhat are your plans after graduation, Y/n?â
The question from Enid abruptly removed you from your own thoughts, âI havenât given it much thought.â
âDoes nothing interest you?â Wednesday let some genuine curiosity slip through.
You shrugged, âWhat is the monetization of an interest, if not the death of a hobby? There are many things I enjoy, but finding my lifeâs work has proven to be quite difficult.â
Enid was excited to chime in with her opinion, âI think you could be a writer, like Wednesday. Youâre into classical music too, maybe a composer?â
âYou have been more than competent as a detective during our investigations,â Wednesday gave you a rare compliment.
âI enjoy all those things, but how do I know if theyâre worth pursuing? What if Iâm not successful at any of them?â
âI loathe this expression, but perhaps it will be useful to you. You must âfollow your dreams'. If you are passionate about something, you can use that to push yourself to successful heights. Success is not unilateral; it looks different for everyone. Though in the eyes of the law my investigations are fraudulent, I count them as successes because I know I solved those cases. I simply do not care what they have to say, because I know the truth.â
You reflected on her words before a sly smile took over your features, âIf I got a bestseller before you would you take it personally?â
âCompetition fosters creativity.â
-Many Years Later-
You wrote under a pseudonym. At first it was to hide your shame if you became a failure. As you began to garner an audience you kept it to sustain your private life. Much to your surprise you actually did make the bestseller list. In fact, you made it multiple times. Wednesday had still gotten there first. Her semi-autobiographical tales of Viper De La Muerte were beloved by many.
It turns out she was right when she said that competition fosters creativity. It seemed as if the two of you were always battling for that number one spot on the list.
Lately you have found yourself in a creative slump. There are too many distractions around, you canât put pen to paper like you need to.
âI think I want to go out of town.â
You sit across from your aunt, while the two of you eat dinner.
âWhere?â
You sigh, âIâm thinking about renting a cabin for a few months. I need to focus on my writing, and I can't do that here.â
âY/n our numbers are dwindling, and you want to go live alone in the forest? What if something happens to you?â
You knew that this was an inevitable conversation, âAmdis Iâve already booked the cabin. Itâs not too far from Yoko, so if anything goes wrong, sheâll be able to help me.â
The womanâs eyes flare red, âAnd what of the murders?â
âConspiracy often plagues-â
She cuts you off, âYou know better than anyone else that there is no conspiracy when it comes to the hate in the heart of humanity. Did you forget what happened to your parents?â
Her comment causes you to slam your fist down and rise from your seat, âDonât you dare make such claims. I carry their loss with me in every step I walk, I see them when I look into the mirror, I hear them when I speak. How can I forget them, when I carry a scar, which lets me know that I shouldâve lost my life with them?â
âY/n I-"
âJust as no one came to save my parents. Itâs impossible for me to save our people. I canât live my life in fear of death because thatâs not what they wouldâve wanted!â
Your eyes burn into the woman. It was as if there was lightening storming behind your red irises.
Amdis relents, âIâm not saying that I expect you to save everyone kid. I just want you to be mindful of what is happening to people like us. The hunters are getting out of control, and the only safety we have right now is in numbers. I canât stand to lose any more family.â
You sit back down. The gravity of your aunts words weighs heavily on you. You take a moment to see her not as your aunt, but as a person. The woman who lost her older sister, who couldâve denied you entry into her life. She was 18 and suddenly tasked with taking care of a 9-year-old. She had done everything for you, sacrificed so much to be the person you needed her to be.
âI know, Iâm sorry for being inconsiderate. Your worry means everything to me. Itâs just- this is something that I must do. You taught me how to protect myself, now I must ask you to trust that I've retained that knowledge.â
âYouâll check in with me every few days. If you miss a single day, Iâm coming out there,â her tone stays stern, but you begin to smile.
âUnderstood.â
Yoko picked you up from the airport and offered to take you up to the cabin.
âHowâve you been bestseller?â
You sigh, âUninspired.â
Yoko laughs, âI was hoping to hear about something outside of your career.â
You search for something to share, âMy life is only divided into two categories my career and people I care about. Enidâs been sending me a lot of recipes lately; she said she wants to make me some blood brownies.â
âThe brownies are fucking delicious; you should definitely take her up on that.â
You nod starkly, âMaybe Iâll host a little get together once Iâm settled in and have gotten enough work done.â
The other Vampire nods, âYou could invite me, and I'll of course bring Divina, Enid will bring the brownies, and last but not least Wednesday.â
âSheâs probably busy being a modern day, more fashionable version of Sherlock Holmes. If sheâs not doing that then sheâs for sure drafting a book about it.â
Yoko shakes her head in disbelief, âAnd youâve still got that teenage crush on her.â
âI do not.â
Yoko plays along, âFine, then howâs your dating life?â
You blink a few times, âI have yet to find a substantial partner that piques my interest or matches my drive."
âBecause you arenât looking for anyone that doesnât have the name Wednesday Addams.â
You roll your eyes, âGive it a rest Yoko. We both know that Wednesday doesnât wish for romance.â
Yoko quirks an eyebrow, âIs that so? Iâve heard otherwise from Enid.â
âWhat do you mean?â The words spill quickly from your mouth. You try to regain some of your nonchalance, but Yoko sees right through you.
âI mean Enid has told me that Wednesday has had many romantic encounters. Passionate love affairs, burning romances, quick flings, you name it sheâs experienced it."
You feel your jaw clench at the information, âGood for her.â
âDonât be upset little bat. I also know that they never last. Enid tells me that none of them really understand Wednesday. They think they can change her, but-â
âWednesday doesnât change for anybody.â
Yoko agrees, âPrecisely. Wednesdayâs affections are often lackluster to many people. Some want grand gestures and proclamations, but that just isn't her vibe you know?â
âI know.â
The trail to the cabin isnât too far into the woods. Yoko was able to park right in front of it. It was a cozier looking space than you had originally thought. The cabin was big but packed with well-loved furniture and knick-knacks. The most important accommodations for you were the TV, and internet.
Yoko helped you bring in your things and unpack.
âOk, Iâm going to visit every Friday.â
âYou donât have to check up on me,â you tell her.
She pulls you in for a hug, âI know, but itâs nice to have you around. It would be weird to know youâre less than an hour away and not come to visit.â
âYouâre worried,â you mumble into her shoulder.
Her hand caresses the back of your head, âA lot of us have been going missing lately. I just want to make sure youâre safe.â
âYou sound like Amdis."
Yokoâs voice is soft, âYour aunt has every right to be worried. Call her, let her know you made it. Iâll text you when I get home.â
With one more squeeze Yoko exits the cabin leaving you alone. The quiet washes over the area and you let out a large breath.
Your eyes drift over to the typewriter you brought. Usually, you author your stories on your laptop, but you brought the typewriter to draw extra inspiration.
Before you attempt to write, you call your aunt like Yoko instructed. By the time the call ended Yoko had texted you that she made it home safely.
You sat in front of the typewriter just thinking. The pressure was building. There was a finality in writing on a typewriter that wasn't there when you worked digitally. Youâre somewhat forced to be more intentional with your words. Which was the main rain you had brought it in the first place.
It feels like forever before you type your fist sentence. Slowly, but surely you begin finding a rhythm and soon enough youâre loading in another sheet of paper.
A text message a few hours later is what finally breaks your concentration. You assume that it is Yoko or your aunt, but you're wrong.
Wednesday: Enid tells me youâve taken up shelter in a cabin in hopes of ending your writerâs block.
You: I have and it's working quite well actually.
Wednesday: With all of the Vampire killing going on, you find locking yourself up some in a cabin to be safe?
You: Not you too đ. Iâm fine, Yoko lives close by and I'm very capable of defending myself Addams.
Wednesday: If youâre put in a position to have to defend yourself, that just shows that you didnât take the proper methods of precaution.
You: I assure you; I have taken every possible precaution.
âHave you really?â
You scream and jump at the same time. Your hand places itself over your shallow beating heart.
âWhat the fuck, Wednesday?â
The woman eyes you up and down, âVulgarity is new for you, Y/n. I donât think Iâve ever heard you swear before."
Your phone rings before you can question your old classmate. You pick it up hearing Yokoâs slightly panicked voice at the end, âAre you alright? I heard your heart rate like triple.â
âIâm fine Yoko, just have an unsuspected visitor.â
âWho?â
Wednesday makes her presence know, âHello, Tanaka.â
You can nearly see the other Vampire smiling on the other end of the line, âAddams, very interesting. Well, call me if you need anything baby bat, Iâll talk to you later."
You say a quick goodbye before hanging up the phone. You turn your attention back to Wednesday. The last time you saw her was a little over a year ago at some party Enid was throwing. She hadnât changed much; in fact, she hadnât really changed much of her aesthetic since Nevermore.
Her attire was still all black. She still had her two braids. She mightâve been an inch taller and maybe her tan was a little darker, but she was essentially the same.
âHow did you find me and why are you here?â
Wednesday walks around observing the cabin with each step, âWell I mentioned that Enid told me, that girl canât keep any details to herself. She said youâd be staying close to Yoko, and this is the closest available cabin to her. I thought I would have had to search more, but I got lucky with this one.â
âOkay⌠but why?â
âIs it so strange that I want to catch up with an old friend?â
You look at her incredulously, âYou wanted to see me, so you tracked me down and broke into the place I'm staying at? Try again.â
âIâm investigating the increasing amount of murders in the Vampire community,â she reveals.
âOh.â
Wednesday begins to explain, âAs you know the unprovoked hunting of Vampires has been illegal for quite some time now. Yet this year alone the number of bodies belonging to the immortals have been found at an alarming rate. A lot of Vampires are afraid that they might be next. With terror comes two paths avoidance or violence. Neither has ideal conclusions for the Vampire race. To avoid would be to possibly become extinct and the violent route means a war. Someone must put a stop to it before it goes too far.â
Hearing the reality of the situation from Wednesday feels more bone chilling than when your aunt or Yoko mentioned it. The last war between the Vampires and the human race had ended horribly for both sides. So much death that both sides eventually relented to peace talks. Those talks laid a lot of foundation for not only Vampire rights, but also the rights of many supernatural beings. Another war wouldnât only affect the Vampires, but all relations between humans and supernatural beings would be up in the air.
âAnother war would cause complete and utter chaos,â you say.
Wednesday agrees, âIt would be the end of peaceful relationship between the naturals and the supernatural entirely.â
âWhat does any of that have to do with me, Wednesday?â
The brown eyed girl bores into your eyes, âMy pride has learned to take a backseat over the years. I understand now that I cannot do everything on my own. The stakes of this investigation are the highest that Iâve ever come across. I require assistance from people I trust to ensure this matter is properly dealt with."
âYou need my help,â you summarize her words.
âYes. Iâm currently making my way through my list of allies. Enid suggested that I recruit former Nightshades.â
Your eyes drift over to your typewriter, âHas anyone else agreed to this?â
âEnid is in, sheâs in the process of convincing Bianca, Ajax, and Ken. Iâm here for Divina, Yoko, and you.â
The pressure of this decision weighs heavily on you. Choosing to stay and write your book rather than fighting for the rights of your people seems ridiculously selfish. On the other hand, willingly agreeing to put yourself in the middle of a potential war didnât sound much better.
âI need a drink.â
You enter the kitchen, locating the bottle of blood wine you had brought with you. With a wine glass and corkscrew at the ready, youâre pouring yourself a hefty glass.
Your sipping from glass at an eager pace before refocusing your attention on to Wednesday, âDo you want a drink?â
âBourbon, neat,â she steps into the kitchen.
You sit your glass to begin making Wednesday her drink.
âI never pegged you for a dark liquor type of detective, itâs a little clichĂŠ.â
Sheâs quick to shoot back, âAnd a female writer with an affinity for wine isnât?â
You wince playfully, âTouchĂŠ.â
When you hand her the drink she continues the banter, âYour typewriter is an antique, Royal Magic Margin from 1938. Impressive."
âAmdis got it for me as gift after my first bestseller. I only really use it when I have writerâs block otherwise, I'm on my laptop like everyone else.â
âThough Iâve embraced most technology I still prefer my typewriter. It feels more satisfying when I can physically see all of the pages,â she shares.
You nod, âUnderstandable.â
The two of sit in silence as you nurse your drinks. You keep running through scenarios in your mind of how this all will turn out. Even the good outcome for the supernatural beings didn't necessarily mean a good outcome for yourself. Anything could happen to you along the way.
âI know that what Iâm asking you to do is a lot, but I assure you that I wouldnât have come if I didnât think you were capable.â
Your finger plays with the rim of your empty glass, âDo you have any leads, evidence, or plans, or would we be going into this completely blind?â
âI have a few leads and pieces of evidence. I have the ghost of a plan, but I canât finalize anything until I know my allies. For now, the plan is to gather a team to bring to my residence in order to create a feasible plan of action,â Wednesday explains.
You bargain with her, âIf you can convince Yoko, Iâm in. I don't want to be the only Vampire around if we're going to be facing hunters.â
âFair, I was wondering if there was any potential in getting Amdis to join in as well,â Wednesday propositions.
You frown, âYou know my aunt doesnât play well with others. If I tell her that Iâm getting involved in something like this she will personally track me down and drag me off to the furthest corner of the Earth.â
âRight, well then we shall wait for one hour and then I will drive us to Yoko's,â Wednesday says matter-of-factly.
âWhy are we waiting an hour?â
Wednesday kept a deadpan look on her face, âFor the drinks to metabolize."
An hour later the two of you are making the drive to Yokoâs house.
âHow have you been fairing?â Wednesday keeps her eyes on the road as she speaks to you.
âFine and you?â
You see the womanâs shoulders drop a bit, âI never imagined youâd give me such a scripted answer, Y/n. I thought we were years past formalities.â
Her words startle you. This is a side of Wednesday that you are still getting to know. Youâre used to her being more nonchalant with the feelings of others.
âSorry, itâs just my most given answer. I donât know how Iâm doing. Iâm a successful writer, but Iâm suffering with writersâ block. That doesnât even really matter when my people are being slaughtered though does it?â
âI think weâre approaching the age where we donât know what matters anymore? Everything blurs together and starts to feel the same. Success doesnât seem as important as we thought it was when we were younger. We are going to save the Vampires and avenge the ones that have been lost. Then maybe weâll be to appreciate the triviality of our daily struggles,â Wednesday answers you completely.
You find yourself staring at her side profile. Thereâs a hidden vulnerability in her words. You donât know if itâs the right thing to do, but you question her anyway, âHave you been uninspired lately?â
âUninspired, unmotivated, and bored. Not just with writing, but with the detective work too. Iâve thrown myself into my work since I was a child. Though Iâve seen the heights of success, they werenât as tall as I pictured them to be. I suppose itâs like, Iâve grown larger than my dreams, and now I find myself⌠unsatisfied.â
âThen why take on this case?â
The woman licks her lips for a second before taking a quick glance at you, âItâs personal, isnât it? Iâm not a Vampire, but you are as well as Yoko. I canât sit around and do nothing, as the people that Iâve worked hard to care about lose everything. Like we said earlier, this problem could expand beyond Vampires. My best friend is a Werewolf. Nearly every person that I tolerate is a supernatural being. I refuse to wait until itâs too late to act.â
A small smile takes over your features, âNoble as always, Wednesday.â
She scoffs in faux agitation, âStill trying to paint me as some kind of heroic figure.â
âWell maybe if youâd stop saving the day, Iâd let it go,â you tease her.
âI donât save the day; I simply follow leads and clean up investigations.â
You answer with sarcasm, âOf course, and itâs not like you take these events and turn them into bestselling novels where the protagonist is a reflection of yourself.â
âHow dare you drag Viper De La Muerte into this?â
You laugh at the menacing tone behind her words, âLook, I thought we were done giving scripted answers. You, Wednesday Addams are one of the most heroic people I've ever encountered. Stop being stubborn and treasure the compliment.â
She parks the car before turning her full attention to you, âPerhaps I have some of the qualities of a hero, but I refuse the title. Iâm more than the mysteries I solve or the books I write. There are plenty of times I was less than hero like.â
The both of you exit the car. You mumble to yourself, but she still hears you, âSpoken like true hero.â
You ring the doorbell and wait for Yoko to answer. It takes less than a minute for her to open the door.
âBaby bat, already out of the cabin so fast? And you brought a friend too. Long time no see, Addams.â
Yoko steps aside to let you in. The two of you enter and subsequently follow her into the living room.
âIâve come to ask a favor of you, Yoko,â Wednesday gets straight to the point.
Yoko eyes you for clarification, âI think itâs best she speaks for herself here.â
Wednesday tells Yoko the same thing she told you. The Vampire did not interrupt once. Her facial expression stays neutral as she takes on the information and what is being asked of her.
âThatâs a big ask Addams,â Yoko says once sheâs heard it all.
âIâm aware, but we would be the only thing standing between an all-out war,â she reasons.
Yoko sucks her teeth, âAnd Divina is needed as well?â
âIdeally, yes.â
Sheâs silent for a few minutes. Thereâs a slow tension building in the room as you wait for her answer.
With a huff of annoyance she agrees, âIâm on board, Addams. What kind of person would I be if I didnât at least try?â
Wednesday turns her attention to you.
âFine, but Iâm too young to die Wednesday,â Itâs as much a joke as it is the truth.
âI would give up my life before Iâd let you lose yours.â
Her words seem to suck all of the air out of your lungs. Itâs the way she says it, in that way only she can. She speaks these passionate words as if they are fact. Theyâre common sense to her but seem like an alien language to you.
You say nothing, just sit there trying to keep your face from showing how flustered you are.
âAnyway⌠should I wake up Divina and pack our things now?â
Wednesday nods curtly, âThe sooner we leave the better. Itâs a long way to my residence.â
-At The Addamsâs Estate-
Wednesday had not been exaggerating about the nearly 8-hour drive to her home. The property was just as unique as the members of the Addamsâ family.
âEnid should be here somewhere with the others. You can sit your bags by the door Lurch will take care of them,â Wednesday instructs the three of you.
You all follow her through the home. As you get closer to the rest, you can hear Enid chatting away.
âSome things never change, do they?â Divina nudges Yoko.
The Vampire smiles, âThe day that Wolfie has nothing to say, is a day I truly fear.â
When you enter the kitchen area you are met with a plethora of familiar faces. Enid is having a very animated conversation with Bianca. While Ken and Ajax are speaking amongst themselves.
The blonde letâs out shrill yell when notices your arrival. Sheâs quick to envelope her oldest friend in a hug, âYoko, Iâve missed you.â
Enidâs grip is something fierce but Yoko hugs her back regardless, âWe just saw each other last week, but I missed you too Wolfie."
Divina and Enid exchange quick pleasantries before the siren makes a beeline for her twin.
When itâs your turn Enid canât help but to lift you off of the ground. It startles you a bit, but you let out of laugh, âYouâre a lot stronger than I remember, Enid.â
âItâs a wolf thing, Vampy.â
You groan at the nickname, âI couldâve sworn that we agreed that you wouldnât call me that.â
The blonde shrugs, âI donât recall. Wednesday do you recall?â
âYouâre asking her because you remember that she was there,â you point out.
The corners of Wednesdayâs lips turn up slightly, âWe all have unfortunate nicknames given to us by Enid. I believe it is a form of endearment. Though âVampy' is not ideal, it could be worse.â
âSee you could stand to learn a thing or two from Willa,â Enid beams.
âDonât push it,â Wednesday threatens, her stoic expression returning to her face.
Enid concedes, âUnderstood.â
Wednesday snaps her fingers getting the attention of the room, âWe all know why we have gathered here. As much as I would love to dive right into all of the details surrounding the event, I feel as though it would be beneficial to make sure everyone is settled in first. Get reacquainted with each other, try to enjoy this time. Tomorrow we will begin the real work.â
The traveling likely was weighing the abilities of the group. Most of them completing a full daysâ worth of travel just to get to the home. Trying to rally them at this point would be a waste of time.
Upon hearing Wednesday's words, the talking picks back up again. Everyone is engaged in a conversation. Wednesday sees this and takes that as her cue to try to leave the room.
You stop her, âLeaving your guests already?â
âEnid is a much more entertaining host than me. Sheâs familiar with the home so she should be fine,â Wednesday tries to justify her exit.
âWhere are you going?â
Wednesday fixes her posture slightly, âIf you must know completing a nearly 16-hour drive back and forth is quiet tiresome. I was hoping to get some rest.â
Your eyebrow raises in amusement, âMy god, Iâve seen it all. The Wednesday I grew up with would never admit to actually needing sleep.â
She rolls her eyes, âI said rest, not sleep. The two arenât always synonymous.â
âWell, I could use some rest too. I've been traveling technically for two days straight.â
Wednesday extends her hand out for you to grab. You stare at it cautiously before slipping your hand into hers.
âIâll show you to the room,â she begins dragging you through the house.
You wonder if she took your hand, so you'd be forced to keep up. It could be a precaution about you getting lost, her home was big, so it made sense. Maybe she remembered your affinity for physical touch and was trying to offer you comfort.
The last thought made you blush. You were grateful the woman was in front of you as to avoid her seeing your face.
She opens a door to what you assume is the room youâll be staying in. When she closes it behind her, she starts to speak again, âBecause Iâm not regularly used to accommodating such a large number of guests, rooms will be shared. You and I will be sharing if that is alright.â
âThis is seeming more and more like Nevermore by the minute,â you joke, though on the inside your nerves are failing you.
âWould you like me to get the tape?â
Though her tone doesnât reflect it, you can tell sheâs joking, âItâd only be for your benefit Addams, I donât mind being close to you.â
âGood to know,â she says it to herself more than to you.
The room is large, you can tell itâs somewhat of a masters suite. It doesnât surprise you to see that there's a bookcase situated against a wall. Near the shelf thereâs a medium sized black couch that you could picture the girl reading on.
The bed in the center of the room is large, you assume itâs king sized. It feels silly to picture Wednesday laying in that huge bed alone, but the voice in the back of your mind reminds you that according to Yoko, Wednesday doesnât spend her nights alone. It's in that same frame of thought that you realize thereâs only one bed.
Wednesday heads over to the couch, âYou will take the bed.â
You shake your head, âI can take the couch, this is your home.â
Wednesday counters, âAnd you are my guest.â
âDonât be stubborn Addams.â
Her gaze meets yours aa little fiercer than usual, âI thought last name basis was just something between Tanaka and I, but it seems to have rubbed off on you.â
You crease your brow, âAbrupt change of subject donât you think?â
She shakes her head a bit and the emotion leaves her eyes. She reaches for a book off of the shelf, burying her face in it, âTake the bed, Y/n."
âOld habits die hard I see,â you comment, sitting on the edge of the bed.
âWhat are you referring to?â
You purse your lips, âThe way you avoid discomforting topics.â
You can see her jaw twitch from your place on the bed. For a moment, you think you overstepped.
She keeps her focus on the book, âIâd prefer if youâd just call me Wednesday.â
You keep your eyes on her, âWell, Wednesday, I think your bed is quite large. Too large for just one person, in my opinion. I see no reason for you to take the couch, when there is ample space on the bed.â
The statement makes her sit the book down on her lap, âYou would be comfortable with that?â
You fight the urge to look away from her, âI wouldn't have suggested it if it made me uncomfortable.â
She gets up from the couch and hesitantly makes her way towards the bed. She sits on the side opposite of you, leaning her back against the headboard. You follow her lead and get comfortable. You lay flat on your back, pulling out your phone for entertainment.
You attempt to fight the urge to fall asleep. However, between the traveling and the softness of the mattress, you lose.
Your light snores pull Wednesday out of her book. She takes in your sleeping figure, analytically. Her thoughts roam freely in her mind as she watches you sleep.
She wonders if the rest of your skin is as soft as your hand. Wednesday wonders if you have laid in bed like this with anyone else. She wonders just how close she could get to you without it b being inappropriate.
The truth of the situation pokes at her. Yes, this case was foundationally important to her. She hadnât lied in trying to get you to her home, but she also wasnât entirely truthful. Wednesday didnât like knowing what was happening to Vampires and being so far away from you. In her mind the closer you are to her, the easier it is to keep you safe.
An aggravated sigh escapes her. After all these years and her futile attempts to move on, she finds herself just as enamored with you as she was at Nevermore.
Now here you were, in her bed. Yet romance couldn't even be considered with such important things at hand. Wednesday had to stay sharp, to keep her focus on the task at hand. This was likely the biggest investigation of her career, potentially the last one she would ever do. Failing here meant failing you, and everyone else she cared for.
Though it was unlike herself she tried to stay optimistic. She refused to believe she had gathered you all to put you in worthless danger.
With her book long forgotten, she attempts to rest her eyes as well.
âIâm using this as blackmail one day.â
âThey aren't even that close together.â
âThatâs what Photoshop is for Yoko. You're looking at an Adobe certified editor.â
Your eyes open just enough to see Enid and Yoko conversing at the entrance to the room.
âJust take the damn picture Enid, before one of them wakes up.â
You sit up right in the bed, startling the women, âToo late.â
You yawn, sighing in satisfaction when your bones crack.
âWe were just-â
âBeing weirder than usual and taking pictures of us in our sleep,â Wednesday answers, sitting up in a similar fashion to you.
âJesus, you guys are the creeps! Who wakes up like that?â Enid replies, completely deflecting on to the women sharing a bed.
âWhat do you want?â You ask them, your voice echoing as you wipe your eyes.
Enid rolls her eyes, âRelax Vampy, we just came to say dinnerâs ready. Youâve been asleep for a couple of hours already.â
âOk, weâll be down in a minute,â Wednesday tells them.
âTake your time kids,â Yoko says, pulling Enid along with her.
You run a hand through your hair, trying to shake the last of your tiredness out of your body.
âIâm going to shower before I go down, you donât have to wait for me,â Wednesday gets out of the bed.
Your body almost melts at the thought of a shower. Itâs as if the word itself makes you untense.
âA shower sounds nice,â you say aloud.
âThough Iâm aware of the dire state of the climate crisis-â
Your face turns red, and you cut her off, âI wasnât- I didnât mean together. I just meant in general.â
You marvel as you see color paint her cheeks "Oh, yes, that does make more sense. Down the hall, first door on the right thereâs another bathroom.â
The two of split off into your separate showers. You find each other at the top of the stairs heading to dinner together.
You never pictured Wednesday in relaxed apparel before, but she stood beside you in a pair of black pajama pants and an oversized shirt. It looked like the clothes would swallow her up.
âWere you expecting something more elaborate,â Wednesday speaks, noting your lingering gaze.
âMaybe, but I like this.â
She heads down the stairs without another word and you follow behind her. Once you get to the kitchen table you take a seat next to Yoko while Wednesday sits at the head of the table.
âEnjoy your nap baby bat?â Yoko says suggestively.
âDo enjoy having 2 fangs?â
Yoko laughs, âHow unusually violent of you.â
You roll your eyes, âUnusually? Have you forgotten the way I was when we first met.â
âAll talk, no action,â Yoko argues back.
âAjax, do you recall when I broke your nose?â You call him out, trying to make a point.
He sighs poking at his nose, âI do, itâs been a little crooked ever since.â
âWell, if you hadnât stood up Enid, your nose would be straighter,â you remind him.
âHey, I accidentally turned myself to stone.â
You shrug, âShouldâve led with that.â
Bianca laughs, âYou didnât even give him a chance. It was definitely on sight.â
Ken adds on, âNo literally, and she just walked over him when he was on the ground.â
âIt was kind of like a hit and run, except she slowly walked away,â Divina thinks out loud.
Itâs nice to laugh and joke you still can. It feels like something youâve been missing lately in your life. The sense of community that you have here surrounded by your friends is warm.
It's not that you isolate yourself from others. You make it to their parties or gatherings for special occasions, but itâs not often. Itâs also not everyone like this. Though you wish the circumstances were better, youâre grateful for this, as you donât know when it will happen again.
After the meal, you head back to the room. You arenât tired, in fact you feel focused. With your laptop in hand, you sit on the couch. You take this moment to begin recalling things that might be important for the investigation. You think over the historical content that you know about Vampires. Strengths, weaknesses, previous war efforts, and enemies, anything that might help for tomorrow.
Youâre familiar with the 6 W's of investigating, so you assume thatâs where youâll start tomorrow. You had some theories based on what you had seen and known from your aunt, but you couldnât confirm anything without Wednesdayâs evidence.
It made sense for this to be a group of hunters, but with the volume of deaths and missing cases, it was improbable to believe they were working alone. Killing Vampires wasnât an easy feat. They were strong and nearly immortal. Evolution had done the race good. Garlic had been minimized to an allergy, they didnât combust in the sun anymore, and wood could not simply penetrate their skin.
Silver was still the deadliest of their weaknesses, followed shortly by magic, holy water, and finally the claws of a wolf. There were other things that made them vulnerable, but those were the main ones.
âFeeling inspired to write after dinner?â Wednesday enters the room.
âYou could say that. I'm actually getting some of my thoughts together for tomorrow. I want to have everything I know readily available. That way when we start going into what you already have, I could potentially plug in useful information.â
Wednesday sits next to you on the couch, slightly leaning over your shoulder to look at what you have written so far, âHas there ever been a civil war amongst the Vampires?â
You nod, âMultiple times. The first one was about territory expansion. At one point the entire population of Vampires was in one place. Some people thought that it was necessary for survival, others believed that they should be able to go wherever they wanted. People picked sides and they fought against each other.â
âIâm going to assume the side who wanted to separate won.â
You shrug, âKind of. That war technically led to us being discovered by humans. There was lots of commotion, you canât necessarily hide a war. Once they were discovered the humans began trying to kill them. So, they had to make a truce to fight against the humans. There was a huge loss of our people, a loss that some argued couldâve been minimized if we all werenât in one spot. After that any Vampire who wanted to stray from the coven was allowed to.â
âI see, and the other wars?â
You continue, âI only know of 2 more that were civil. The next one was about interspecies relationships, and the last time we fought it was about ethical consumption of blood. The quick version of events with the interspecies dispute was that there had been this obsession with being pure. Vampires were not allowed to mate outside of the race, regardless of who the other party was. It was challenged after our war against the Werewolves; as a number of Vampires had fallen in love with certain Werewolves.â
âThe blood one was quite recent, correct?â
You nod, âI was alive for that one. Maybe 5 or 6 years old. It was probably the largest civil war weâd had; some people even believe weâre still in it today. We need blood to survive, but everyone was divided about where we could get that blood. Some people didnât want to drink from humans as it is not the best for our image in their eyes. Others argued that drinking from animals could slowly kill the ecosystem. There was even more fighting when it came to how to obtain it.â
âWho won?â
Again, you shrug, âLike I said some people say this one is still happening. It ended in a sort of agree-to-disagree manner. There are technically restrictions about how much of any species that a single Vampire can consume but-â
âNot everyone abides by those restrictions,â Wednesday finishes your sentence.
âExactly. What are you thinking about all of this in correlation with the investigation?â
Wednesday doesnât hesitate to share, âI asked about in-fighting within the community because I believe that Vampires are in some ways responsible for these murders.â
You hold back a gasp, âYou think weâre killing each other off?â
Wednesday points to a part in your notes, âYou have it written out here that you donât think itâs the hunters alone if itâs them at all. They donât have the strength or the numbers to operate on a high scale like this. They have to be working with some non-human supernatural beings. Who better to help kill Vampires than other Vampires?â
âAs much as it sickens me, we can't rule it out. However, you did say any non-humans, which could mean anything. We all know the history between Vampires and Werewolves. We also know that a noted weakness of Vampires is magic which could indicate Witches. I donât think we can rule out anyone yet,â you reason with her.
Wednesdayâs gaze softens as she looks at you. Itâs as if she knows something you donât. For a moment you can see her contemplating, in her mind.
âDo you know something I donât,â your voice is delicate as you press for answers.
You can see her mask falling back into place, âI think we should talk about it tomorrow.â
She tries to get up from the couch, but your hand grasps her wrist, âWednesday.â
She wishes she could ignore your plea, but it was impossible. Maybe if she was the teenager she used to be, she could shrug you off and stand her ground a bit better. However, Wednesday had grown up and knew that acting in that way would not benefit the relationship.
âCome with me,â she says, slipping her hand into yours.
You stand and walk with her out of the room. You walk down the hall, taking a turn before approaching a door. When Wednesday enters the room, you immediately realize it as her study. If the large desk in the middle of the room wasnât a giveaway; then youâre certain that the evidence board on the wall wouldâve given it a way.
The raven-haired girl waits to speak. She watches as your eyes scan the evidence board. Itâs a mess of pictures, sticky notes, and red string, but sheâs certain you can follow it.
The images on the board are disturbing, she paid close attention to your reaction to them. Pictures of people like you, but lifeless. Some bloody and gore filled, others with bones broken, and some just neat.
You study the pictures, perhaps longer than you should. Your brain is working overtime to find some sort of connection.
âThereâs a marking on them. You canât see it in the pictures, but itâs visible in person. I drew it, right there. I tried to look it up, but the only thing that came up was general Vampire facts. I couldnât tell of this was some kind of branding or maybe an identity mark that Vampires have,â Wednesday breaks your concentration.
Your eyes flit over to the drawing. It was a circle with triangles around the inner lining, and in the center was a swirl. You recognize the symbol but canât necessarily recall from where.
âIâve seen this before.â
Your fingers reach out to trace over the symbol. As soon as they find the paper you feel a burning sensation in the middle of your back. The pain makes you grunt and crumple on to the floor. Blood wells behind your eyes and spills out as you cry silently.
Wednesday is by your side instantly. She tries calling your name and asking whatâs wrong, but you canât respond to her in the state of pain. She sees you clawing at your shirt and without hesitation helps you take it off.
In the middle of your back, she can see a scar forming. It looks like the outline of the symbol she had drawn. It was only the circle; the triangles and spirals hadnât formed yet.
âBurns,â you manage to spit out. Your fangs come out without your permission.
Wednesday stands up frantically searching for something in her office that would help you. When she returns to your side you can hear her opening a jar of sorts.
Without much warning you feel her hand rubbing the substance on to your back. You flinch out of fear but are relieved when the burning sensation dies down significantly. As your breathing returns to normal, you attempt to sit up.
âWell, I guess we know itâs a brand now,â you attempt to joke.
Wednesday glares at you for a second. She wipes her hands off before reaching to wipe the blood off of your face.
âNothing about this is funny. You have this circle on your back, we donât know what it means, and youâre a bloody mess.â
You grab her wrist to stop her from wiping the blood off your face, âThese are just tears Wednesday. Iâm fine.â
She looks at you wildly, âYou are not fine-â
âWednesday, we have more pressing matters at hand.â
She shakes her head firmly, âThey can wait. Get on the desk.â
You furrow your brow, âExcuse me?â
âGet on the desk so that I can properly examine the wound,â she elaborates.
Itâs when you stand that you start to really process that you donât have a shirt on. Wednesday politely turns and waits for you to follow her instructions. You do as she asks, laying against the cold wood.
âIs this really necessary?â
âJust be still.â
You try to relax as reality begins to crash down on you. Not only is there a partial brand stamped into your back, but the woman that you liked since you were a girl is tending to your wound. Youâre laying shirtless on her desk while she examines you. This is both a dream and a nightmare.
She begins pressing down on the mark, but you donât flinch from the touch, âIt doesnât hurt anymore.â
âInteresting,â Wednesday says getting a closer look.
âDoes it look bad?â
âIt looks⌠healed already. Last time I checked your kind isnât fast healing.â
You stop her, âWell thatâs not entirely true. Some Vampires, usually the older one have enhanced healing features to make up for their evolutionary disadvantages.â
âI want to try something. Sit up and give me your hand,â she says.
âYouâre still just as bossy as you were when we were teens,â you say, but again follow her orders.
She huffs at you, âAnd youâre just as compliant.â
Her words shut you up immediately. You watch as she closes her eyes, both her hands firmly in yours. Thatâs when you begin to understand that sheâs attempting to use her powers.
For a moment you feel her grip loosen before her grip becomes deathly and her eyes shoot open.
âWhat did you see?â
âYouâve seen it on a book at your house, itâs your aunts. Old brown leather, it looks like a journal but itâs thick like a book.â
You sigh, âYou think weâre going to need that book, donât you?â
Wednesday confirms, âIdeally yes, but weâll worry about it later. I think weâve done enough for today.â
You attempt to get off of the desk. Your foot slips on one of the loose folders Wednesday has on her floor. The dark attires girl is quick to try to steady you.
Her hands feel unusually warm against the bare skin of your sides. You feel her breath fanning over your collarbone. The fabric of her shirt felt soft, lightly tickling your chest.
There was a small tension building between the two of you. You could feel Wednesdayâs eyes following a trail from your face all the way down your body. She did it so shamelessly, in way where it made you feel like a piece of evidence she was examining.
You donât expect it when the back of her hand rests against your forehead, âDo you feel lightheaded, because you look flush?â
The way her eyes examine every corner of your face makes you want to melt on the spot.
âI slipped on your folder,â you manage to slip out.
Her hand drops from your forehead to caress your cheek, âI must clean in here before I let everyone in tomorrow.â
âWednesday-"
âCan I ask you something Y/n?â
She says this while her hand finds a place on the small of your back, guiding you out of the room. You forget your original thought.
âYes,â you answer.
âAre you aware of how cool and soft your skin is?â
You stumble over your words, âI- um-"
âItâs always been like that. As long as weâve known each other, I mean. I remember the first time you put your hand in mine, to shake it. Iâve pondered over the years if the rest of your skin feels the same. Now, I have the answer.â
Youâre in her room now. The door closes behind you, and her hand is still on your back. She leads you to the bed, and you still haven't found the words.
All you can manage to say is her name tentatively, âWednesday.â
âAre you accustomed to sharing a bed like this? Does anyone of note know the comfort of your skin?â
âNo,â you answer breathlessly.
Wednesday releases her own breath, âGood.â
You watch helplessly as the woman walks to the other side of the bed and climbs in.
âWhat was the meaning of this Wednesday?â You say as you climb into the bed.
She dares to get closer to you. Thereâs a small space between the two of you. Something you could close if you wished to.
âYouâre captivating.â
âIs that something you say to everyone that's shared this bed with you?â You canât help it as the snarky comment leaves you.
Yokoâs words about Wednesdayâs escapades run through your mind. At first you doubted the validity of what you had heard, but with the way Wednesday was acting with you, it was starting to make sense. The suaveness of her words, the charm of her certainty, she could have anyone be putty in her hands.
âNo, itâs not,â her voice held a sincerity in it that you weren't prepared to hear.
You lay flat on your back, scared to look into the Latinaâs eyes, âI've heard about your romantic encounters.â
Wednesday sighs, you can feel her eyes burning into you something akin to the brand on your back, âY/n, weâre adults rapidly approaching our 30âs. As a teen I could pretend not to be the slightest bit interested in romance. I could focus on my work. However, as I grew, and began to accomplish my goals, I realized that I wanted somebody to share it with. Not platonically, but intimately. So, I tried dating, is that a truly repulsive thought?â
âNo, itâs of sound logic, just like everything you say.â
Wednesday lays on her back, turning her attention towards the ceiling, âHave I misinterpreted things between us? The tension, is it of another variety?"
âYou havenât. Iâm just having a hard time understanding this.â
Her hand extends into the space between the two of you. Your hand falls into hers and your fingers interlock.
âI shouldâve known the moment I met you that any other attempts at romance would be frivolous. I apologize for my timing, but with you here with me in this capacity, I could not help myself. I thought I would be able to keep these feelings buried like I did when we were younger, but the truth is Y/n, I yearn for you.â
âWednesday-"
âNo one has ever come into my quarters to lay with me. Iâve never brought anyone home, and subconsciously I knew why. None of them would live up to you. Your beauty, your strength, your humor, your passion; all unrivaled.â
You squeeze her hand, âCareful, youâre sounding like your father.â
âI can no longer afford to be careful. I am willing to risk my reputation if it means that you will entertain my pleas.â
âI always thought that one day Iâd tell you how I felt about you, and youâd be kind enough to let me down gently. This is a lot to take in,â you close your eyes briefly.
âIs this something you want?â
Your eyes meet hers and suddenly theyâre burning just as intensely, Yes, but I am afraid. Wednesday, you brought me here to help you save my people. This isnât Crackstone or some stalker, I could die. Hell, you could die.â
âI wonât let that happen.â
âWhy is it so easy for you to say that?â
As your head falls her hand lightly grips your chin forcing you to keep eye contact with her, âBecause I mean it. Have I ever broken my word?â
âNo, but-"
She moves closer, closing the gap between you. You feel everything slow as her thumb cascades across your bottom lip.
âI could argue you down with logic if I have to. My track record speaks for itself, but I donât want to do that. I want you to trust me, can you trust me?â
You nod, internally shivering when her lips slightly brush against yours. Your breath mingles with hers and your eyes begin to flutter.
âI trust you.â
Wednesday moves hesitantly, but sheâs basically already there. Your lips touch experimentally. She keeps getting closer until sheâs on top of you. Sheâs straddling your waist with your face still in her hands. Your hands slide under her shirt to rest on her waist. Sheâs warm, warmer than you ever couldâve imagined.
You push her away from you a little as you work to control your breath.
âWhatâs wrong?â She looks for signs of discomfort or regret on your features.
You open your mouth, showing your fangs, âI donât want to hurt you.â
Wednesday slips her thumb into your mouth. You keep it open, feeling her touch your teeth. The pad of her thumb against the point of your fangs. She pricks herself and you know it immediately.
A single drop of her blood falls onto your tongue. Your lips enclose around her thumb as you suck lightly. Her blood is rich but bitter like an expensive chocolate.
You moan at the taste. Red hues swirling around as you taste her, âGod Wednesday.â
She pulls her thumb from your mouth. Her chest heaves slightly, âI would allow you to drink from me until my knees were weak. As much as I desire that, I fear that if we go any farther it will becoming increasingly indecent.â
You nod, inhaling deeply, âYouâre right, it seems like we are getting ahead of ourselves.â
She steals another kiss from you before she returns to her spot next to you. She tries to put distance between you two, but you pull her flush against you. Her back against your front. Your purposefully blow air against her ear.
âWhere did you think you were going?â You chuckle in her ear.
âI thought we were giving each other space, as to not escalate our behaviors,â she murmurs.
It makes you laugh even more, âCanât control yourself enough to lie next to me?â
Her arms overlap yours to keep them place, âI can. I suppose I forgot that you are someone who prefers physical contact.â
âWe donât have to cuddle,â you say.
âNo, I like this,â Wednesday holds on to you tighter.
âGoodnight, Wednesday,â you whisper into her hair.
âGoodnight.â
You werenât ready to wake up when you felt the warmth move from beside you in the morning. Your arms pat around the bed searching for the girl that had spent the night next to you.
You groan when you are unable to locate her.
âGo back to sleep itâs early.â
Instead of listening to the voice, you sit up and began to rub the sleep out of your eyes, âWhere are we going?â
âI am going to clean my study, and youâre staying here,â she puts emphasis on the âI.â
âLet me help,â you say getting completely out of the bed and stretching your limbs.
You hear Wednesday sigh, âYour eyes arenât even open.â
You open them slowly, adjusting to the new brightness, âBetter?â
Wednesday rolls her, âFine, but put a shirt on. We don't need everyone seeing your bra.â
You let a dopey smile play on your features before throwing a shirt over your head, âJealous?â
âAnd if I were to say yes?â
You walk across the room to stand in front of the shorter girl, âThen Iâd say you have nothing to worry about. Divina, Yoko, and Enid have all seen me shirtless before and none of them have been swooned.â
Wednesday glares at you, âNot funny, I recount Enid saying some rather interesting words about your body.
Your eyebrows raise, âWolfie liked what she saw then?â
You could see Wednesdayâs jaw clench, âIf you would rather room with Enid that can be arranged.â
You shake your head, âIâm right where Iâm supposed to be.â
Color dusts Wednesdayâs cheeks as she looks away from you, âWeâre supposed to be cleaning my study.â
You step aside and dramatically gestures towards the door, âAfter you.â
âAfter I practice my dental hygiene,â Wednesday says taking steps to her restroom.
âIâll do the same and weâll meet in front of the office?â
She nods and the two of you go your separate ways briefly before meeting in front of Wednesday's office.
It was as messy as it had been the night before. Together you work in silence to make the room more presentable. Papers that are scattered on the floor find themselves in neat stacks on her desk. Some of the books are returned to their proper home against the wall. You clean until the only mess that remains is your shirt from last night and a small bloodstain on the floor.
Wednesday picks up the shirt before you do, she examines it. When she holds it up thereâs a notable hole in it, the shape matches the one of the symbols that was now etched into your back.
âJust how hot was it?â
When you get a glimpse of the shirt you frown, âIâve never felt such an intense pain in my whole life. It felt like the sun was resting on my back.â
Wednesday keeps the shirt as evidence she you help her remove the stain from the floor. By the time you finish itâs actually a reasonable time in the morning.
You decide to go the kitchen and look for sustenance. Yoko, Enid, and Bianca are already there, seemingly making breakfast for everyone.
âMorning,â Enid speaks enthusiastically.
You greet them quietly, taking a seat at the table. Yoko brings you a slice of toast thatâs covered in, what you assume is blood jam. Youâre correct, and munch on the bread happily.
âY/n did you have a nightmare or something last night?â The other Vampire questions, taking a seat next to you.
âI was going to ask the same thing, your heart was going crazy, and it sounded like you were crying,â Enid adds on.
âI think itâs better if I wait to tell everyone at once,â you mumble.
âDoes it have to do with the investigation?â Bianca correctly assesses your hesitance.
Wednesday answers, âYes, and letâs hold any further questions until after breakfast.â
You can see Yoko roll her eyes behind her glasses, âHow come Addams gets to know and I donât?â
âYoko, we were together, so she saw everything. Iâll tell everyone once weâre getting ready to start working out the plan.â
One by one, everyone else appears in the kitchen. The chatter is low but fills the room all the same. Once everyone finished, Wednesday starts to direct them towards the office. As they file into the room Wednesday grabs your hand pulling you to the stand with her in front of the evidence.
âLast night after speaking with Y/n, about the history of in-fighting in the Vampire community, we came to this room to go over some of the evidence that I have gathered. During that time, I pointed out the pattern of this symbol on the victims. Though it did not photograph well, I took the time to draw it. When Y/n touched that drawing, it partially burned into her skin.â
You turn with your back facing them. You raise up your shirt to just above the scar on your back. A few gasps are heard with the reveal.
âThat symbol belongs to the first generation of elders,â Yoko inspects the drawing.
âDo you know why it burned her?â
Yoko tilts her head to the side, âThere was a story my parents used to tell me about it, but I always thought it was legend. The symbol was originally the crest of the first Vampires in existence. It goes back to the territory expansion, the elders wanted everyone to stay together. However, when it was decided that the others could leave, they wanted a way of being able to identify each other once out in the world. They took their symbol and filled it with cursed magic. It marked every Vampire that it could touch.â
âDoes that explain why itâs on the bodies?â Ajax questioned.
Bianca answers him, âI doubt it, that story is probably hundreds if not thousands of years old. Most of these victims wouldnât have been around back then, according to this board.â
Yoko adds on, âBianca is right. After Vampires were allowed to migrate, it didnât make sense for us to all follow one set of elders. So, everyone kind of started doing their own thing, finding guidance in the community rather than the original elders. Of course this upset them, they tried warning people about fighting against them. Eventually their need for control caused them to do some heinous things to other Vampires resulting in exile. Their symbol was banned and as far as I know they dropped off the face of the earth.â
âIs there a chance that these markings come from them?â Ken speaks up.
The group looks to Yoko and yourself for answers.
âItâs not impossibleâŚâ You begin to say.
âBut as immortal as we claim to be, we can still die. The average life span is somewhere around 500-700 years. They would be pushing 1,000 if not older,â Yoko finishes.
âDid you have any suspects Wednesday?â Divina chimes in.
Wednesday begins to point to the evidence board, âThereâs inconsistencies across the murders. They all look different, live in different areas, various ages, even the way they are being killed seems different in each circumstance. In some places Iâve found some typical Vampire hunter weapons, stakes, silver, matches. However, with respect to the scale of the crimes it is unlikely that theyâre working alone.â
Enid begins to speculate, âSo we think the elders Vampires are teaming up with the Vampire hunters? How does that work?â
âWell, the motivation is there for both parties. If the elders are still alive, they have to be powerful beings. Even if the hunters wanted to kill them, they probably couldnât,â you offer her an answer.
âThat or the hunters could be under hypnosis. So, they have no choice but to work with the elders,â Yoko adds on.
âSo, whatâs the plan Addams?â
Biancaâs question refocuses the attention on Wednesday. You all can see the gears spinning in her brain. This was tedious work, not something that could be wrapped up instantaneously.
âWeâll start by getting the book from Amdis. Then I have a few leads we can follow.â
It wasnât a full plan just something structured enough to start. Things could develop and change depending on what you found in the book, so it made sense to keep things open.
You werenât necessarily fond of bringing everyone to your house to collect the book, but it was the most efficient thing to do. That way you guys would be able to check out Wednesdayâs leads together straight after.
You were hoping that your aunt wouldnât be at the house when you arrived. It was a silly thing to hope for, you knew she was an introvert. Your key wasnât in the door for 3 seconds before it was yanked open.
âBack from finding yourself in the woods already? Oh, and youâve brought guests.â
You lead your friends into the house going straight to the living area. The book you were looking for should be somewhere on the bookcase. Locating it is easy; it sticks out amongst the rest. Youâre scared to touch it, the burning sensation still very fresh in your mind. Wednesday can sense the hesitation from your side, she picks up the book, tucking it under her arm.
âWe havenât come to stay, I just need to grab something, and weâll be on our way,â you call out to your aunt.
âOn your way where exactly?â
Your mind goes blank, but thankfully Enid cuts in, âWeâre going on a little friends vacay. Itâs been so long since weâve all been together. With work and life and everything else, we just thought it would be fun to recapture some of that teenage magic before we forget what it felt like.â
âWell, this is more practical then locking yourself in the woods alone, I suppose,â Amdis states.
Your jaw twitches at the slight jab, âMore inspiring to have my friends by my side.â
âOne last question, where do you think you're taking that book?â
Your face drops with the question, âIâm just doing like you said, caring a little more about our people.â
Amdis crosses her arms over her chest, âIâm just supposed to take that at face value when you have the worldâs most unnerving detective by your side? How do you even know that books about Vampires?â
âI have seen this symbol before, why are you making such a big deal of it?â
Amdis stares at you in disbelief, âBecause you clearly think Iâm some sort of idiot. Youâre standing here lying to me like I havenât known you, your whole life.â
âIâm not a child anymore Amdis, I donât need you to babysit me. We both know you didnât want to in the first place,â you shoot at her.
âIs that how you really feel? You want to lay it all out, fine. No, I wasnât ready to become a parent at 18, but you were all I had. My parents were long gone, and my sister was dead. I knew what it felt like to be alone, to be abandoned, and I didnât want that for you, Y/n. I sacrificed the little that I had for you, and Iâd do it all over again because youâre my family and I love you. Yet, you repay me for my sacrifice with lies, deceit, and accusations. All because I care about you.â
The tension in the room finally explodes. Your friends watch you with careful eyes. Wednesday wants to reach out, but you move before she can. You find yourself sitting in a chair staring at your aunt, the empty expression on your face reminiscent of when you were young, and emotionally avoidant.
You lean forward with your elbows on your knees, trying to find the confidence in your posture. When you speak your voice betrays you, wavering with a soft timidity, âWeâre going to stop the extinction.â
The anger vanishes from your auntâs eyes, âWhat?â
âIâm going to help save our people, with or without your blessing. Itâs dangerous, itâs risky, and perhaps itâs even a little naĂŻve, but Amdis you were right, our people are dying. Iâve seen it and I just canât stand idly by.â
She exhales audibly, âIâm going with you.â
âBut-"
âKid youâve lost your fucking mind if you think Iâm going to let you go on a literal suicide mission without me. Besides, youâll all be better off having an expert on your side.â
Bianca interrupts, âWe were trying to get her to bring you along in the first place.â
You glare at the siren, âFine since weâve figured this out so graciously, I need a minute alone with my aunt. So, talk amongst yourselves and donât break anything in my house.â
Your aunt leaves the room first and you attempt to follow her. A gentle grasp on your hand stops your briefly.
âAre you going to be alright?â
You squeeze her hand lightly, âIâll be fine, Wednesday. Itâll be quick, just start looking through the book.â
You squeeze her hand once more before going after your aunt. Sheâs waiting for you in your room. You close the door behind you as the two of you stare at each other.
âIâm sorry for lying to you. I just didnât want you to try and stop me,â you admit.
âKid, I know it feels like Iâm getting in your way sometimes. Itâs not that I donât believe in you, because I do. Youâre one of the brightest minds Iâve ever encountered. I've watched you succeed in spite of everything youâve been through. I love you and Iâm proud of you. I just- I donât want to lose you too,â you see the tears begin to well in her eyes.
Though she stands defensively, you still make your way across the room to wrap her up in a hug. Her head falls onto your shoulder as you tightly hug her.
âI couldnât have done any of it with you. You became the parent I needed you to be and I'm grateful for it, I love you for it. Youâre not going to lose me, I promise,â you sway with the embrace.
Amdis pushes herself out of the embrace gently, wiping at her eyes, âLetâs go save our people.â
Upon returning to the living room Wednesday presents the book to Amdis holding it up a picture of a man.
âDo you know who this man is?â
âUlysses Obrien, he was a secretary of sorts. He worked with the elders, even after the territory expansion. Why?â
Wednesday holds up her phone and a modern picture of a man that strongly favors the one in the book is displayed, âBecause heâs my first lead.â
With the pictures side by side in front of you, the theory of other Vampires being involved in the extinction was becoming more and more likely. The fact you were looking at the historian of the elders was proof enough they could live that long. The thought of the power alone was intimidating, but you couldnât run from it. You believed in it too much now; you were going to save the Vampires from extinction.

whereâs that man whoâd throw blankets over my barbed wire?
*another angsty carmy fic coming right up*
âMaâam? Iâm sorry but we will need the table if your guest hasnât arrived yet,â the waiter told you. You could tell he felt embarrassed to have to practically kick you out after being stood up.
You set the nice white napkin that had been on your lap on the empty plate in front of you, âI understand. Thanks for keeping me company.â
The waiter helped you put your coat back on and you placed a nice tip on the table before walking out. It felt so humiliating to sit at that table for the past hour alone.
Carmen forgot your anniversary.
You had been perfectly fine celebrating your two year anniversary with him in your nice apartment but he was the one that wanted to go all out. He chose the fancy French restaurant and made the reservation.
He was also the one that didnât show up.
At first, you began to panic, thinking that something had happened to him on his way to the restaurant. You mustâve texted him a dozen times. When you checked his location, you saw that he was at The Bear.
Thereâs no way that he would forget your anniversary. Right?
Well, he did.
You walked until you were able to find a cab. Part of you wanted to confront Carmen at The Bear but you didnât want to make a scene. Despite how mad you were at him, you respected his place of business.
Instead of going there, you went to the apartment that you shared with Carmen to wait for him. You didnât even bother changing out of the red dress that specifically bought for that evening when you made it home. Taking off your coat, you placed it on the hook and sat on the couch.
It was an hour later when you heard the jingle of keys and the front door open and close. âBabe? You here?â
You didnât answer him as he walked into the living room.
He set his phone and keys down on the coffee table in front of you, âHey, what are you all dressed up for?â
âOur anniversary dinner that was two hours ago.â You answered coldly.
Carmen froze as it dawned on him that he forgot, âFuck. Babe, Iâm so fuckinâ sorry. Things have been so hectic at the restaurant these last few days and it totally slipped my mind. My phone died a few hours ago. Iâm so sorry.â
He sat down next to you and tried to grab your hand. You moved it out of his grasp. âI waited for you for an hour, Carmen. It was so embarrassing. The waiter made me leave because they needed the table. How could you forget?â
âI told you. It seemed like everything that could go wrong did today. We had three waitstaff out with the flu-â
You cut him off, âSyd couldâve taken care of things for one night so that you could go out with your girlfriend! Arenât I important too?â
Carmen looked like that question pissed him off, âAre you seriously askinâ me that fuckinâ question?â
You stood up from the couch needing some space from him, âYes, I am because this isnât the first time! How many times have you had to reschedule our plans? How many days do I barely see you? Weâve been together for two years, Carmen and I feel like we are just two strangers at this point.â
âWhy havenât you said anything then if you feel that way?â
âIâve tried to have date nights and Iâve even stopped by The Bear to see if you can go on a coffee break. You always turn me down because something more important is pressing.â Youâd been dying to have this conversation with him for some time now.
After countless times of letting things go, you were blurting out everything that youâd want to tell him. It had all been weighing so heavily on you lately. You could feel it draining you.
â(Y/n), I inherited a mess from Michael. I had to look after everyoneâs jobs and-â
You interrupted him again, âIâm not saying that you have to choose me or the restaurant, Carmen. That would be incredibly selfish of me. ButâŚ. itâs like youâre out building this life for yourself and Iâm just here hoping that you give me an ounce of attention.â
âYouâre making it sound like our relationship is horrible. I thought that we were doing good.â
That almost hurt you more than being stood up on your anniversary. He thought that things were good? He hadnât noticed that the two of you were so incredibly distant?
âThings havenât been good in a long time. When we first started dating, you were present and it seemed like youâd do anything to spend time with me.â
âThat was before we remodeled the restaurant. I had more time but now-â
âNow, youâre too busy for me.â
He shook his head, âIâm not, (Y/n). I just had more time back then. Now, itâs all on me. Iâm stressed out.â
âI donât want to add to your stress, Carmen.â
âWh-what are you trying to say?â He stood up and made his way closer to you. You could tell that he was anxious about where the direction of this conversation was going.
âIâm not happy. I havenât been for a while. Iâve tried to make things better but I canât do it alone. I deserve to be with someone who I donât have to beg to want to be with me.â
â(Y/n), I donât want to be without you. Iâll start coming home earlier and Iâll uh have Sydney and Marcus start taking some more responsibility. I will-â
âAnd in a month when things are super crazy at The Bear because of the holidays? Weâre back in this situation again. What kind of promises will you make then?â
Carmen seemed confused, âDo you not want to work on things?â
âA month ago, hell even a few weeks ago, I wouldâve said yes, but Iâm tired, Carmen. Tonight felt like it was the last straw. Sitting alone, you not answering your phone, it was embarrassing and so painful. I love you so much. But I think for the both of us, itâll be better if we werenât together.â
âI donât want us to break up, (Y/n). I love you.â Carmen said softly.
You pulled him closer. He rested his head against your shoulder, âWe can both focus on ourselves. Iâm so proud of everything that youâve done. You deserve all of the praise that is coming your way.â
You wanted to appear strong but on the inside you were breaking as well. There was a point in time where you imagined spending the rest of your life with Carmen Berzatto.
Now, there was a strong possibility that he wouldnât be in your future. Were you making the right decision?
It mightâve felt like you werenât in the moment. You just wanted to feel wanted and happy and with someone who couldnât get enough of you. Carmen was that man at first. Things changed for the better and for the worse.
âI hate that I took you for granted. I will regret it for the rest of my life.â You felt him kiss your neck softly.
âIâll still be here if you need me. You know that right?â
He nodded as you both stood there wrapped around each other saying your goodbyes without words.

Behind the Scenes (05/05)
Behind the Success
pairing: actor!aemond Ă fem!reader
summary: you and Aenar finally meet Aemond's family, closing one chapter of your life and starting a new one with Aemond in it.
word counter: 8.7k
previous part ⢠next part ⢠series masterlist
it's here!đĽł
I've finally finished the chapter and I'm so excited for you guys to read this!
and how is it possible that another story is going to end soon? because if you didn't read my previous message, there will be an epilogue, so it's not yet the definitive goodbye for this little family we have createdđ¤
also before reading I want to thank you for your support and please leave me your opinion, lately the comments have gone down and I wish to read youđđť
oh I also want to make a small clarification before you reed:
in the second chapter it is mentioned how aemond at the end confessed everything to his family in a desperate attempt to find Y/N. but let's forget that heheđ¤ let's pretend that aemond never told them so you can enjoy this chapter and the light drama you are about to read.
now read and enjoy, ily all!
warnings: slight angst, aemond's family melting our hearts when they meet aenar.
Aemond immerses himself in the world of acting with the same fierce dedication with which he confronts his characters on screen. Every move, every word, everything is carefully rehearsed and executed.
Each project is a challenge, an opportunity to explore new roles and demonstrate his versatility as an actor.
The hustle and bustle of the film set fills the air as he immerses himself in his role. The bright lights illuminate his face, conveying the intensity of his character as he delivers his lines with palpable emotion.
But when the bell rings, as well as the director's shout of "cut!" is heard, Aemond is Aemond again.
Behind all those shots, scenes, interviews and awards, no one knows that Aemond is a father, at least no one outside his close circle. He only confided the news to a few close co-workers, some production people and his older sister, Rhaenyra.
He managed to persuade some rumors after some people at first saw him entertaining Aenar in the nursery on the set, because even though there is nothing wrong with it and Aenar is his most precious treasure and a pride of his life, he knows it is better to protect him from the public eye.
And now that Aenar has his own nanny at home, sometimes even then the whispers would start to get too much and he would make sure that some member of the production crew, known for their ability to spread harmless gossip, would plant the idea that it was simply a close family friend of the child they had seen him with.
And in the midst of all his work and everything he has to do, Aemond finds the precious time to be with his son.
Aenar, a whirlwind of laughter and childlike energy, fills every space where the two are together with light. Games, stories and hugs become routine and Aemond cherishes every moment he can spend with him on his days off.
He even reduces his own working hours and focuses entirely on filming his scenes, also attending one or two interviews per month, in order to have more quality time with Aenar, who is more important than having to please the press at every moment.
And as he balances the intensity of the job with his responsibility as a father, Aemond fights for to rebuild the trust you once placed in him.
Every gesture, every conversation, was an effort to demonstrate that he is fully committed to getting things right this time. Every encounter with you, he demonstrates a quiet determination to making amends for past mistakes.
With carefully chosen words and acts of genuine support, he tries to show you that he understands the pain he had caused and is willing to go out of his way to regain your trust.
And you accept this, because you see how he makes an effort to open up more, to share his thoughts, his fears and his hopes. But above all, you see how he is making an effort with Aenar, which is the most important thing.
And you also see how parental responsibility has changed his perspective and maturity. But still, Aemond knows that rebuilding trust takes time and forgiveness is not something that can or should be rushed.
Even if you decide never to forgive him, he's okay with that and is getting the idea from now on that you only allow him to be close to you because of Aenar and only because of Aenar.
So in the meantime, you immerse yourself in your own workday.
The makeup and wardrobe trailer is a world of constant motion and productivity in any given area, though your mind is always on Aenar and also on Aemond.
And even though you both carry separate jobs at the same place during the day, you both manage to create a balance between your jobs and raising Aenar.
Evenings were for you and Aenar if Aemond didn't finish recording at the same time as your shift ends. And almost at dusk is when Aemond comes from work and devotes every minute of his free afternoon to Aenar.
Instead if you both finished your shifts at the same time, you both spent time together with Aenar.
However, the nights brought calm.
Once Aenar fell asleep and before Aemond retired, you and he find your own space to talk, share thoughts, talk about work or more importantly about Aenar. And today just happens to be one of those nights.
You finish cleaning the kitchen, while Aemond is sitting on one of the stools, with a cup of coffee in his hands, looking out the large windows to the back garden, thoughtful.
While he has in front of him the IPad with the image of the camera in Aenar's crib that records him sleeping, attentive and making sure he is well.
"I've been thinking a lot lately," he says, breaking the silence in a soft voice, catching your attention.
You watch him from the sink, setting a clean, dry dish in the drainer, then drying your hands with a clean cloth.
"About what?" you ask him softly, attentively.
And he takes a moment before answering, thinking very carefully about his words and what he means, not wanting you to misunderstand him in any way.
"On Aenar and... us."
He confesses and you lean on the other side of the island that separates you both in front of him, giving him your full attention.
"At first..." he starts to say, slightly flustered, "You didn't want me to hide him from the world and I-I... well, I obviously disagreed with you."
He says and bites the inside of his cheek, lowering his gaze, feeling embarrassed.
"But now... I think it's not fair to him that no one has any idea that I have a son. It's also not fair for anyone to know that you're the mother of my child."
His gaze again meets yours and a sense of understanding envelops both him and you.
"Now things have changed," Aemond continues, his tone laden with sincerity, "And I know that you and I are n-not together but... maybe... I can announce the news, only if you want me to."
Silence fills the kitchen in its entirety for a moment, as Aemond holds his breath at your possible response, honestly feeling terrified to expect a bad reaction from you.
But none of that crosses your mind, on the contrary, you just digest his words. But your silence is what causes a mixture of expectation and anxiety in Aemond, who holds his gaze with yours, nervous.
And finally, with a serene sigh, you go around the island that separates the two of you and approach him, placing one of your hands on his shoulder gently and in an attempt to comfort and reassure him, instantly feeling his whole figure tense, while he watches you with his big healthy wide eye and his prosthetic eye remains the same as always.
"Aemond," you begin to say in a soft voice as he watches you completely attentively, "I always wanted you to recognize Aenar publicly, that was what I wanted most at first. But now...
You pause for a moment, thinking about your meditated words, as you sink for a second into your own thoughts and what you really want to say, as Aemond watches you intently, waiting for you to continue.
"I understand your world more now," you continue, "And, honestly, I can't blame you for not agreeing with me back then, only in this," you make clear, "Recognize him legally would have been the right thing to do and... enough," you say holding back the sadness in your tone of voice.
But Aemond catches that break in your voice, a moment of your vulnerability that makes him feel a sharp, simmering ache in his chest, as if every word you utter drops a weight on his shoulders, with shame again invading him, but this time with a mixture of deep remorse and regret.
A barely audible sigh escapes his lips, lowering his gaze, ashamed, feeling the burden of his past choices and he wonders amidst the brief silence if he will ever be able to fully redeem with himself.
But he doesn't have much time to think about it, as you gently squeeze his shoulder to bring his attention back to you.
"And now I understand that the press and people's opinions can be very dangerous and destructive," you say softly, "And I don't want that for Aenar, at least I don't want to deal with that yet," you confess, "I want him to grow up a little more and we can both enjoy his early years without having to worry about it."
An expression of surprise and also longing crosses Aemond's face, still watching you intently, processing your words.
"Are you sure?"
You place a soft smile on your lips.
"Very," you assure, "I just want him to grow up in a calm and safe place, without falling fame on him nor all this attention being so young," you explain, "I have no problem with it, but also your opinion counts."
"No, I-I... I want the same for him too," he agrees with you, nodding, with all the pressure and anxiety he felt being replaced by a mixture of gratitude and relief.
And you nod back at him, smiling softly in his direction.
"But..." he says with a slight urgency in his gaze and concern in his tone, "I just want you to know that when the time comes, I won't do it for attention or to be relevant."
He says seriously, softly and honestly.
""I'll do it because I know it's something I have to do, for him and for you, as in the beginning maybe it should have been. But for now I just want us to enjoy these moments and, when the time is right, make that decision together."
The room fills with the honesty of his words and you can feel the sincerity in each of them, as a sense of calm envelops you both and you share a soft, complicit smile.
"Sure," you nod to him, feeling a warmth wrap itself all over your chest.
Your gaze moves away from his for a moment, focusing on the iPad screen where Aenar is shown sleeping, while Aemond can't help but focus on the features of your face with an intensity that can't go unnoticed by you.
Deep longing is reflected in his gaze, with a palpable mix of regret and sadness that is projected beyond mere facial expression. And he feel that weight on his body and chest again, a burden he can't help but feel.
His healthy eye glides over your face as if searching for answers in every line of expression and in his gaze, you can perceive the longing to repair the irremediable, the need to know how much he regrets the decisions of the past.
"Y/N-
He starts to want to say, his voice laden with regret, but you turn your gaze to him and stop him.
"Aemond, we have already talked about this."
"But I'm sorry... I really am," he insists, with pain in his gaze, "And I know an apology isn't going to fix it, I know that, neither is anything else but... I am really sorry and you don't know how much I hate myself for everything I put you through."
"No," you shake your head, "There's no need for you to keep apologizing," you tell him softly, "It won't do either of us any good to keep bringing up the mistakes of the past. Nor will it serve you to keep punishing yourself for what has already happened," you say as tactfully as you can.
His expression reflects a mixture of gratitude and frustration with yourself.
"Yes, I know, I understand," he murmurs, lowering his gaze, "It's just... I feel like I have to say it."
"Aemond, what matters now is this, how we move forward from here now that we've both learned and grown. Aenar too," you add, "And that's all that matters."
He nods slowly in your direction, his gaze showing a mixture of appreciation and relief, even with the remorse within him, as you both then sink into a moment of silence, letting the unspoken words echo in the air, but you both know those words, they just don't need to be said.
The relationship dynamic between you and Aemond since then takes a new path, a less tense, more bearable path of total trust. And this is not lost when the two of you are together in Aenar's presence.
Until one day, on your day off precisely, Aemond after work, comes to you telling you some unexpected news.
"I told them."
You turn fully towards him, giving him your full attention, understanding but at the same time not what he really means.
The living room starts to feel tense, while Aenar completely oblivious to it continues to play on the floor with his toys, but you focus on his gaze, where there is a charge of confession in his eye and you notice his whole body in a position of determination but also nervousness.
"Come, sit down," you tell him in a soft voice, pointing to the couch, while at the same time getting up from the floor to take a seat next to him.
And he almost with a defeated expression and posture, does as you say, letting out a sigh.
"What happened?" you ask, watching him intently.
He inhales deeply, looking at Aenar on the floor, who is the only one who can make him feel a little calmer, as well as your presence next to him.
"I told them about everything that happened," he confesses to you, "Our relationship, your pregnancy, my team, the decision I made in the beginning, everything I caused and how much I hurt you," he says as he feels his heart knot, "Everything. Everything that happened from then until now... and Aenar."
His words leave a weight in the air, as you anticipate how bad and difficult that conversation must have gone with his family to see him this way, so serious and tense.
"And how did they react?"
Aemond closes his eye, lowering his gaze, his posture reflecting the emotional baggage he carries with him and how bad it definitely went with it.
"Just as I expected. Obviously they were disappointed in me."
He says without much emotion, but with slight pain in his tone
"My grandfather couldn't believe it and was shouting how come I kept all that from them. Hel was very shocked, Aegon and Daeron too. And mother said a few hurtful things, started crying and telling me how I could keep these things from her," he exhales deeply, "Rhaenyra and Daemon were the ones who helped me calm things down a bit, but still my grandfather and mother were upset with her for knowing and not saying anything."
The tension of what happened feels palpable, as if he is reliving his family's every reaction, with the heaviness of disappointment and pain reflected in his expression, as you beside hom, share the weight of that difficult moment.
You are both silent for a moment, only hearing the sounds of Aenar playing with his toys.
"I'm sorry," you whisper in his direction, placing your hand on top of his, as if trying to somehow ease the pain he feels, "It must have been very difficult for you."
"No, Y/N," he observes you instantly, speaking to you in a soft tone, "You don't have to apologize. I deserved this and I'm not saying it to cause pity or play the victim," he adds with earnest sincerity, "I'm saying it because it's true. This is the least I deserve after everything you had to go through because of me."
You decide not to say anything at this, just offer him your silent support, while he again seems lost in his own thoughts for a few long seconds, where neither of you say anything.
When suddenly, Aenar emits an infectious giggle, instantly attracting both of your attention.
His small hands hold a toy with enthusiasm, his smile and the tenderness he conveys bringing brightness to the living room and the state Aemond is in, who smiles softly at the scene, watching him with complete adoration.
He sighs and rises from the couch, moving towards him, holding him gently, needing the sensation at that moment of holding him in his arms.
Aenar squeals with excitement and joy, placing his small arms on his chest, moving energetically in his arms, smiling big at him with his blue eyes completely filled with a glow.
The scene makes you smile softly, especially when Aemond also takes one of his toys and begins to play with it in his arms as he starts to walk slowly around the living room, talking to it in a honeyed tone and causing Aenar to babble incomprehensible words but full of happiness in his tone.
And when Aenar entertains himself with his father's silver hair, Aemond speaks again, turning to you to observe you.
"Despite everything, they want to meet him," he says, watching Aenar in his arms, "And they also want to meet you, my mother more than anyone else."
And this also completely grabs your attention.
"Really?"
"Hmm," he nods, "But I didn't tell them yes or no," he lets you know, "I wanted to consult it with you first."
"But is this good or not?" you ask, looking to find positivity in the situation, "Or do you think they shouldn't know him yet?"
"Of course they should," he tells you softly, "I owe this to them, also to you. But as I tell you, I didn't know how you would react if I told you they would meet him soon, I wanted to check with you first."
You place a reassuring smile in his direction.
"Aemond, for me it's perfect for Aenar to meet his grandmother, his uncles and aunts. It's a great opportunity and will definitely be good for him," you assure him.
"Yes, it is," he nods, unconsciously beginning to imagine the moment, "They can come or we can go to them, whichever you decide."
"Either way is fine with me," you shrug, "When might that be?"
Aemond thinks for a moment before answering.
"We could arrange it next weekend. Sounds good?"
You nod with a reassuring little smile.
"Sounds good."
The TargaryenâHightower family decides to come to you.
When Aemond gives you the news, even though at first you were totally fine and had no problem with it, inevitably knowing it instantly makes you nervous.
You've never met his family before, not even when you and Aemond were a couple for obvious reasons. And even though his family isn't involved within the entertainment and film industry, you've still heard enough about them to feel slightly intimidated.
About Alicent Hightower, Rhaenyra and Daemon Targaryen more than anyone.
The uncertainty of how they will perceive you, especially after disappearing from Aemond's life without warning and also how they will treat you, that's what worries you the most.
But the fact that they will be coming to your house relieves you a little. Fortunately you won't be interacting with them in unfamiliar terrain and you're sure that the presence of Aenar, his toys and Aemond will go a long way to reassuring you.
"Do you need help?"
Aemond appears behind you, while you find yourself cleaning everything you can from your living room and Aenar, as usual, is sitting on the carpet with all his toys around him.
"I'm just cleaning up in here, then I'll go clean the kitchen."
"Don't worry, me and this little handsome will clean the kitchen."
He walks over to Aenar and takes him in his arms, who is already dressed in an outfit too cute for the occasion and smells like baby soap from the previous bath you gave him, ready to meet his family.
Aemond goes with him to the kitchen, sitting him in his perch, keeping an eye on him while at the same time starting to clean up.
You start moving some of Aenar's toys, organizing his play area a bit, to create a more orderly and cozy space in the living. You also mop the floor and arrange cushions.
Aemond washes a few dirty dishes and cleans all the shelves, also mops and spreads your favorite Lavender scent, which besides smelling amazing, calms your nerves.
You also ask him to help you tidy up the dining room while you clean the bathroom, wanting everything to look clean and spotless, while Aemond takes Aenar in his arms again to let him play in his play area and he watches him closely from that new distance.
"Maybe I should have cooked something?"
You walk over to him, slightly concerned.
"What? No," he turns to you, instantly, "Y/N, they're coming to meet Aenar, not to eat."
"I know, but..." you explain, nervously, "I thought maybe it would be a good idea to have something prepared, out of courtesy and.... I don't know. Won't it be rude of me if I don't have anything to offer them?"
"Of course not, you don't have to," he clarifies, more serious but with a soft tone, "If you want to have something prepared, let it be some drinks, nothing more."
Still you watch him hesitantly and worriedly.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, very sure," he assures you, "In fact I'll prepare them. You rest and take care of Aenar. I'll finish cleaning up everything else."
"No, I-I-
"Rest," he repeats, interrupting you, placing a hand on your cheek gently, "I know this may be overwhelming, but they will come to meet Aenar and you too. And you don't have to put too much pressure on yourself. Everything will be fine."
Her warmth and understanding manage to comfort you a little, making you stop feeling so tense little by little.
"Now rest, okay?" he says softly to then walk past you and head towards the kitchen, not taking any argument back.
It's clear that he wants to lighten your load and make sure you feel comfortable about all this that's about to happen, with his actions conveying reassurance.
And finally after a while, you are ready and waiting in the living room with Aenar, playing with him, while Aemond is sitting on the single sofa and who a few minutes ago let you know that his family is on their way.
And after a few more long minutes, Aemond now lets you know that his family has already passed through the security gate that leads into the private neighborhood.
Knowing that fills you with nerves again, but Aenar's babbling as he hands you his currently favorite toys distracts you a bit.
"Are you okay?"
Aemond asks you from where he sits, watching you intently and noticing the tension all over your face and body, while you try to look completely calm and relaxed.
"Yeah, yeah, just... a little nervous," you say trying to place a genuine smile on your face as you distract yourself by touching Aenar's toys, "Who exactly is coming? Other than your mother and siblings," you can't help but ask.
"My grandfather."
You watch him expectantly, waiting for him to tell you more, but he doesn't.
"And that's everyone?"
"Well, Rhaenyra said my nephews wanted to come too, my uncle Daemon with his daughters too but I asked them to wait a little longer," he explains to you slightly concerned, "I didn't want you to feel nervous and overwhelmed if my whole family invaded your house. And Aenar sure would have felt scared too."
You bite the inside of your cheek and he rises from the couch to walk over to you, placing a comforting hand on your shoulder.
"Hey, don't worry, okay? It's going to be fine. They're excited to meet you and Aenar."
You release a long breath through your nose, placing one of your hands on top of his, feeling your shoulders especially start to feel less tense.
"Yes... thank you," you tell him with gratitude in your gaze, appreciating his support.
And then the doorbell rings.
Aemond gives you one last reassuring glance, assuring you that everything will be fine, then turns and heads for the door to greet them, as you rise from the couch and take Aenar in your arms.
The tension in your shoulders gradually dissolves as you hold your baby in your arms, replaced by a sense of calm, as you watch the front door intently and finish mentally preparing yourself.
Aemond opens the door gently with a warm smile on his lips and the first to enter is his mother, Alicent Hightower, in a beautiful, elegant green dress, followed by who you assume is Otto Hightower, his grandfather.
His mother wraps her arms around him and leaves a loving kiss on his cheek which Aemond reciprocates, as he also greets his grandfather, who watches the entire interior of the house with an inspecting gaze.
Behind Otto enters Rhaenyra, who embraces Aemond.
"Thank you for coming," Aemond says to her, leaving a kiss on her cheek.
"Of course," she smiles at him, leaving a soft kiss on his cheek as well before pulling away from him.
"You guys too, thank you," she says to Aegon and the rest of her brothers, "Come on in."
Both brothers, Aegon and Daeron, embrace him, speaking words of assurance, leaving Helaena at last, who throws herself into his arms with obvious emotion, smiling with joy and longing, as Aemond leaves a kiss in her hair.
Then Aemond closes the door and before heading towards you, who are still standing very still near the couch with Aenar in his arms, his whole family finally notices you and especially the child in your arms.
"Thank you for coming, all of you," Aemond repeats as he turns to you, "Let me introduce you to Y/N," he points to you, "She works on the same recording set I am currently working on as well."
You put on the best friendly and kind smile possible, as Aemond takes Aenar in his arms so that you can meet his family. And the first to address you is Alicent, with her stunning elegance and a soft smile on a warm face.
"Nice to finally meet you, my dear. My son has spoken so much about you."
The tension almost completely leaves your body, feeling grateful and relieved by the welcoming tone of her voice, evaporating your fear about how everyone, especially her, would treat you.
"The pleasure is mine. I'm happy you're here."
You reach out your hand to her and, pleased, she takes it. But she takes you by surprise when she pulls you closer to her and wraps you in a gentle embrace, definitely not expecting that.
You freeze for a moment, then, a little hesitantly, return her embrace, grateful for the affectionate welcome. And when you both part, she has a smile that denotes sincerity and cordiality, then points you to Aemond's grandfather behind her.
"This is my father, Otto," Alicent introduces you as he watches you with an appraising expression, "He has also heard much about you and was very pleased to come here."
And though his look is somewhat... intimidating, you don't let that invade your nerves.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Hightower," you tell him in a soft, polite voice, extending your hand to shake with his as well.
"The pleasure is mine, Y/N," he replies in a low, polite voice, shaking your hand briefly.
"And this is Rhaenyra," Alicent points you to the woman who is just as refined as she is and shares Aemond's same characteristic of silver hair, as do the rest of his siblings.
She smiles towards you and gracefully approaches, then embraces you in greeting mode, as does Alicent.
"It's nice to finally meet you," she tells you cheerfully, "Aemond told me so much about you and of course your little one," she tells you as she gives Aenar a loving look.
"The pleasure is all mine. Aemond also spoke a lot about you and was very excited to meet you," you tell her, as she holds your hands in a gentle grip.
"Well here we are," she tells you without wiping away her smile, then looks behind her, turning her attention to the rest of Aemond's siblings, "Oh and they are my siblings," she gestures you towards Aegon, Daeron and Helaena, who have friendly glances in your direction.
Aegon steps forward first, extending his hand.
"I am Aegon. I hope you're not feeling overwhelmed with so many silverheads invading your home."
"No, no, not at all," you laugh softly, taking his hand, "It is a pleasure to meet you, Aegon."
Daeron is next, greeting you with a friendly smile.
"Hello, nice to meet you, Y/N. I'm Daeron. Aemond told us a lot about you and Aenar."
"Pleasure to meet you, Daeron," you say, noting the sincere camaraderie emanating from both brothers.
And finally, Helaena gives a few towards you, with an expression of pure excitement on her face and hugs you effusively.
"At last we meet!" she exclaims happily, "I was so excited to see you."
"Oh," you respond to her hug also a little surprised and with gratitude, "It's nice to meet you. Aemond has also told me a lot about you.".
"Good things, I hope," she says with a smile, pulling away from you.
And gosh, you can just see how much her sisters and brothers resemble Aemond. Their beauties are otherworldly and even Alicent is truly beautiful, as much as Rhaenyra is.
"And this..." begins to announce Aemond with Aenar in his arms and a radiant smile lighting up his face as he approaches the center of the living room, where his entire family watches him intently, "This is our son, Aenar," he says with pride in his voice, finally introducing his son.
Everyone's gaze focuses on the baby in Aemond's arms, who oblivious to the situation, watches them back with his huge bright blue eyes curious and expectant, while you place a small smile, anticipating the magical meeting of your little one with the rest of his family.
Helaena, visibly moved, can't hold back tears and tries to calm herself, with happiness, longing and nostalgia in her eyes. Aegon smiles with pride and Rhaenyra with adoration.
And meanwhile, Daeron, Otto and Alicent barely finish processing the reality of having Aenar in front of them.
Until Alicent steps forward gently, his eyes and gaze shining with curiosity, slight surprise, longing and adoration as he watches the little one, his newly presented grandson.
"Is that my grandson?" she murmurs in disbelief with tears beginning to form in her eyes and a hand on her chest.
Aemond, with a warm smile, nods at the question.
"Yes, Mom," he gently observes her and seeing her condition, looks at her with complete understanding, "Do you want to hold him?" he offers, carefully extending Aenar to her, sharing in the joy of her holding her grandson.
Alicent, tears streaming down her cheeks and visibly moved, nods in a touched nod with her gaze reflecting all her emotions, joy and awe.
She takes another step forward and reaches out her arms, where Aemond carefully places Aenar in her arms, who now watches him adoringly and with a mixture of happiness and emotion reflected in her gaze.
Alicent can't help but let out a couple more tears as Aenar babbles and watches her with great wonder, moving his small hands to her brown hair, starting to play with her curls, making her laugh softly in the midst of her tears and all the emotions she feels.
Aemond watches his mother tenderly as she enjoys her first encounter with her grandson, while you can't help but feel moved as well and wipe away a few tears that have escaped your eyes, watching the moment with emotion and nostalgia.
"My little Aenar," Alicent whispers, tenderly kissing his forehead, cradling him in her arms.
Aemond, still smiling and holding back his tears, diverts his gaze to you and you watch him back, where you both share a small smile and a silent complicity, both feeling the same way and recognizing the happiness this moment has brought to your lives.
And then Helaena approaches together with Daeron towards her mother, to watch Aenar and share the joy of the moment.
"It's beautiful, isn't it?" comments Helaena, smiling, as Daeron watches him with a small smile of adoration and strokes his silver hair tenderly.
"Absolutely beautiful," whispers Alicent, her eyes shining with tenderness, not taking her eyes off him for a second.
"He's lovely," Rhaenyra comments with her soft little smile.
And then Alicent lifts his gaze to Aemond.
"And he looks exactly like you, darling," she tells him tenderly, recognizing the familiar features on Aenar's face and creating a moment full of emotion and family connection.
Aemond, touched and grateful, smiles at his mother's words.
"I think he has a little bit of both," Aemond replies, sharing a proud look with you.
Aenar physically by hair and eyes resembles Aemond, but some features of his face he definitely inherited from you and you can't help but smile in his direction.
And then, within the next few minutes, the whole family continues to make affectionate moments with Aenar. Helaena being the most excited is the one who now holds Aenar tenderly in her arms, leaving a couple of loving kisses on her cheek, while Rhaenyra approaches her to observe Aenar with a motherly gaze.
The imposing figure of Otto Hightower stands watching with satisfaction the scene unfolding in front of him, especially as he sees the happiness and excitement of Alicent and his grandchildren.
He doesn't say much, but his presence exudes a sense of quiet approval and though he doesn't show it, he honestly feels proud of Aemond, this reunion of his family and the arrival of a new member to it.
As Aegon approaches towards Aemond with a friendly, warm smile, placing a hand on his shoulder where he shares his gesture of brotherhood and pride.
"Congratulations, brother," he tells him sincerely, "He is beautiful and a mini version of you."
Aemond nods gratefully, the smile on his lips and places one of his hands on top of his.
"Thank you, brother. I appreciate it."
Now it is Daeron who takes Aenar in his arms and carries him to his play area, followed by Helaena, Rhaenyra, Alicent and you.
Helaena also takes a seat on the carpet with Alicent and the three of them start playing with him, who shows his enthusiasm and fills the living room with his giggles, melting the hearts of everyone present.
The atmosphere definitely becomes livelier and warmer, transforming into a special moment for everyone, where both you and Aenar feel completely comfortable and happy.
And as a few long minutes pass, Aemond watches all the interaction, happy and completely pleased, seeing how you converse with Rhaenyra and the rest of his family is totally entertained by Aenar.
Even his mother asks to have her picture taken with him and slowly begins to fill a new photo album of her grandson on her phone reel, completely enchanted with him.
Such a sight and such a moment couldn't make him happier, being a moment he needed so much and couldn't be more proud of. And how could he not?
His watching his son integrate into his family. And you are definitely getting along great with all of them.
Aegon stands by his side, sharing the gesture of complicity as they watch Helaena and Daeron make sounds with Aenar's toys that make him laugh and squeal with happiness.
Absolutely beautiful.
"So..." Aegon begins to say beside him, catching his attention, "You're going to show him to the world?"
He watches him intently, as Aemond holds his gaze for a second to look back at Aenar with an affectionate gaze, smiling softly.
"That's what Y/N would have wanted at first, when she got pregnant," he says softly, remembering those painful moments, "But no, at least not yet," he replies, turning his gaze back to his brother, "We talk and want to give him a normal childhood as much as possible."
Aegon nods with understanding, listening to him with full attention, then lets out a sigh, watching Aenar.
"The world is going to go mad when they find out, little brother," he says with an amused smile.
"I don't care," he says with a shrug, "All I care about is him."
Aegon smiles warmly again, acknowledging Aemond's priority as a father and he couldn't be prouder of him. He may be the older brother but Aemond...he's the one who matured first, always cleaning up his shit and making sure everyone was okay.
And even though when Aemond told them about this, about you and Aenar, it turned out to be a complete disaster, Aegon is glad that right now his family is responding in this way, loving you and Aenar.
"And what happened to Criston?"
He decides to ask you, curious and attentive, as Aemond takes a moment and exhales deeply, he too being a person who brings back horrible memories of the past.
"I fired him," he replies with a disinterested wave of his hand, "And his entire team too," he adds, "That's what I should have done in the beginning with him."
"And he threatened you?"
Aemond lets out an amused smile, remembering those days as well.
"Yes but I hired a lawyer and they made him sign a confidentiality sheet," he explains, "He couldn't do anything against that."
Aegon nods, pleased to hear those words, as you both turn your gaze back to the family, where Aenar's laughter still echoes throughout the living room, Aemond smiling lovingly as he watches his mother assail him with soft kisses.
Your soft laughter catches your attention as well, watching you with almost the same adoration and love as he watches Aenar, watching you converse with Rhaenyra where you both let out soft giggles at whatever it is you are talking about.
And he can't help but watch you extra longingly, wistfully, happily and longingly, loving to see the smile on your lips and the look of joy you have, his perfect and beautiful Y/N.
He honestly doesn't know what would have become of him if he had never seen you again. He'll probably still be sunk in his misery, regretful and trapped. But with each passing day he thanks the Gods for this, again and again, this second chance.
And Aegon doesn't take this unnoticed, the way his brother is looking at you.
"You really fucked things up with her, didn't you?"
His words break the spell he was under and he bites his lips, averting his gaze from you, beginning to feel ashamed and also with that guilt simmering in his chest.
"Yeah," he replies in a low murmur.
"You still love her."
Aegon tells him watching him intently with a complicity and understanding, not asking any questions, as he is making a statement, affirming it.
And Aemond again speaks the truth, neither denying it nor hiding it.
"Never stop doing so."
Aegon lets out a long breath, honestly feeling bad for him, to place his hand on his shoulder again.
"Brother, we all make mistakes," he tells him softly, "People fuck up and fuck up badly. I'm sure you get that from a person like me," he points to himself, still speaking in a serious tone, "And the important thing is to learn from them and move on. And I'm sure she's seen that in you."
"No, Aegon," he says softly, shaking his head, "What happened between us was different and... unforgivable," he says with the slight pain in his tone, "This is all happening only for Aenar and his well-being."
"So you don't plan to do anything about it?"
"I don't know," he says regretfully, letting out a sigh, "Things are complicated. And with everything that happened surely Y/N doesn't feel that way about me anymore. Besides what really matters is Aenar and I want to be a good father to him."
"I understand that, brother. But maybe all is not lost and all you need to do is try," he tells him in an encouraging tone, "Life is unpredictable, you know? And who knows... maybe Y/N still has feelings for you."
Aemond grimaces.
"I don't know, bro. I don't think so."
Aegon decides to say no more, just nods, for after all, he understands the complexity of his situation. And inevitably, though he shouldn't, with the words he has spoken to him, Aemond feels a small glimmer of hope.
Meanwhile the inside of your house continues to fill with laughter and conversation as everyone enjoys family time. And in the middle of it all, Alicent notices you going to the kitchen for a moment, this catching her attention and being the opportunity to talk to you.
So, giving her attention away from her grandson since she arrived, without saying anything to anyone, she discreetly follows you into the kitchen.
As she passes through the frame, she sees you arranging the drinks that Aemond prepared for them on a tray, wanting to offer them. But when Alicent's figure entering the kitchen catches your attention, you immediately turn to her.
"I don't intend to take up too much of your time, my dear," Alicent hastens to speak with a small smile on her lips.
"Oh, yeah, yeah," you nod immediately, "Do you need something?"
"I just want to talk to you," she answers you softly, "And it's nothing bad, I just... want to thank you for welcoming us into your home," she says, showing the sincerity in her look and tone, "I honestly haven't felt this happy in my life in a long time. And meeting Aenar has definitely made me very happy," she pauses a little, "Thank you."
"No, no, you don't have to thank me," you reply, with a soft look, "It's a pleasure to have all of you here. And you have made Aenar very happy too."
"No, I really do thank you," she insists with a soft tone, "Your home is beautiful and definitely an excellent place for Aenar to grow up."
"Oh, thank you," you smile kindly at her, "Actually this house was bought by Aemond. He must have told them or at least you, I suppose."
"Yes, he did," she nods, "He also told us how much you refused at first but I understand you. It must have been a very meaningful but very overwhelming gesture for you."
You nod with understanding, biting your lips.
"Yes," you murmur, "Yes it was. But I only accepted for Aenar," you hasten to clarify, "I didn't do it for my own convenience, whether for money or fame. I accepted for Aenar, so that he could have his father in his life and together give him the best."
"Yes, sweetheart," she advances towards you and takes your hands between her gently, "I know," she assures you, "You don't have to explain anything, everything is more than understandable."
You let out a long breath.
"Thank you," you tell her sincerely.
"It's okay," she smiles softly at you, "And listen, I-I... I really don't want to make you uncomfortable nor do I want to make you feel bad, in fact Aemond asked me not to talk to you about this but..." she looks at you with some tenderness and longing, "I just want to tell you how very brave you are, Y/N."
You shudder at the sweetness of her unexpected words, feeling a warmth run through your chest as a mixture of gratitude and longing flashes across your face, suddenly feeling completely vulnerable.
"I didn't blame you for deciding to run away, no one judges you for it."
She lets you know by telling you in a soft voice and as tactfully as possible.
"As much as I would have loved to have met you sooner, Aemond's decisions were terrible and I can't imagine everything you had to go through on your own," she says with slight shock and sadness, holding your hand tighter, "Your pregnancy, living in a new unfamiliar place and trying to make it on your own."
You bite your lips, feeling a sharp pain in your chest and tears begin to form in your eyes, but you gather your strength and try not to let them fall despite the memories of painful moments.
Her words resonate with genuine understanding and her warm touch brings you a comfort you didn't expect but definitely needed.
"Yes," you whisper, feeling the lump in your throat, "It was very scary and very difficult," you confess, "But Aenar made every sacrifice worth it."
"Of course," she murmurs, with a sympathetic look.
"Oh and... it must have been hard for you too," you say, remembering, "In those days seeing Aemond so sad and desperate must have worried you a lot. It even almost put in danger his career and you had no idea about me and what had happened."
"Yes, that was very scary too," she nods with a sad smile, "We didn't know what had happened, he pushed everyone away, even Helaena and... I couldn't stand to see him like that, but he wouldn't accept our help either," she explains, "But now, just like me, I've never seen Aemond so happy in his life."
Her tone is genuine and you hold her gaze with appreciation and understanding, feeling completely grateful for this pleasant acceptance and welcome by Aemond's family.
And in that moment you can feel, as Alicent does, how your connection grows stronger in your shared understanding of past challenges and new hope.
"You are a strong woman, Y/N. And I also want you to know that regardless of the circumstances between you and Aemond, I want you to know that you are part of our family now and we are here to support you."
You feel a happiness and relief course through your body, grateful for her words and her total understanding, as you nod in her direction.
"Thank you, Alicent."
And Alicent unable to contain herself, wraps you in a hug full of tenderness that you reciprocate, with the atmosphere filling with a sense of mutual acceptance and support.
And from there, the rest of the afternoon is spent sharing laughter and creating special memories.
Aegon plays with Aenar while Daeron and Helaena join in the fun, making your little one laugh with every quip and funny face that Aegon especially makes.
Alicent and Rhaenyra also join in, creating a connection with Aenar and showing him affection, while Aemond and you watch it all sitting together on the couch, each with a smile on your lips.
Until the visit comes to an end and the family says goodbye with expressions of gratitude and affection. Helaena is the one who insists on exchanging numbers to stay in touch, while she along with Alicent and Aegon promise to visit again soon.
It's a bit hard for Alicent to want to let go of Aenar, but eventually she does and then Aemond and you finish picking up and sorting all of Aenar's scattered toys.
Until it's also time for Aemond to leave.
"Thank you for this day. It was amazing and better than I could have hoped for. Even mom loves you more than she ever loved me."
You smile in his direction sincerely, laughing softly.
"It was nothing, Aemond. It was all very nice. Your family was very kind and Aenar had a great time."
"Yes," he murmurs as he watches his little boy adoringly and then turns his gaze back to you, "Still, thank you... for everything."
You see the intent in his gaze, also in his body, the way he fights it, catching your attention and being a bit amused at it, then moving towards him and wrapping your arms around his neck, hugging him.
Surprised and definitely not expecting that, Aemond doesn't take long to reciprocate your embrace, a little hesitantly at first but he does, slipping his arms around your waist and pulling you close against him.
A sigh escapes his lips as he closes his eye, feeling that warmth in his body and that almost happiness at the sensation of having you close again.
He had missed it.
The embrace conveys a mutual support and understanding, also a kind of affection that Aemond can't quite decipher.
But honestly at that moment he doesn't mind and allows himself to enjoy and seize every moment of this feeling, knowing that he may not be able to have you again soon in this way, before you both part and he drives to his apartment.
Regular visits from the Aemond family to your home become a pleasant daily moment. Each encounter brings laughter, love and a sense of family unity.
Aenar, with his contagious laughter, becomes the center of attention, further strengthening family bonds.
The bond between Aenar and his relatives grows stronger over time, so his extended family becomes fully involved in his growth and development. Laughter and play fill the halls of your home, creating precious memories.
Eventually you also meet the rest of Aemond's family as well as Aenar, like Daemon Targaryen, who is definitely a bit more intimidating than Otto Hightower. But once Daemon feels confident, he's the coolest guy.
You also meet Aemond's cousins, the twins Baela and Rhaena, Daemon's daughters, who are extremely kind and sweet to you.
And you also meet Rhaenyra's sons, Jace, Luke and Joffrey, where eventually she also introduces you to her youngest children, Aegon and Viserys.
Your relationship with each member of the Targaryen-Hightower family develop into genuine friendships. Helaena, Rhaenyra and Alicent become confidants and allies to Aenar's shared upbringing.
The complicity between the women in the family is supportive and builds a safe and loving environment for Aenar and the rest of the children.
Until, on occasion, you decide to take Aenar to the majestic Targaryen-Hightower mansion. The incredible residence becomes a second home for him, who explores every corner with curiosity and becomes familiar with the new walls.
Aegon, as the older brother he is, becomes his second protective figure. Together they share adventures through the mansion's extensive gardens and enjoy playing with Legos blocks or his plastic carts.
With Helaena, she connects with Aenar through her charm and utterly beautiful aura, always playing with him, carrying him in her arms and telling him fantasy stories with gestures and figures.
And with Daeron, Aenar loves it when he watches his favorite cartoons with him. Also eventually Aenar becomes his weakness, as he always fills him with more toys and always thinks of him to give him everything that makes him happy, even food.
And when Aenar cries, Daeron is the first of the siblings to come to him, slightly concerned and immediately wanting to make him feel good.
Meanwhile, your relationship with Aemond, while not resuming the romance of the past, transforms into a serene, enjoyable and respectful one. Aenar's upbringing becomes the main point of building his future and lacking nothing.
Although memories of the painful past persist, both have learned to cope and accept it, in order to move forward.
And eventually, in a significant moment and one that lasted hours of conversation between Aemond and you, also one that was an arduous process of documentation and much waiting, a culmination of a stage of your life is realized that further solidifies the unique connection between Aenar, Aemond and you.
A recognition that brings with it a clear message of commitment and love for the future of your family. The significant moment when Aemond asks for your permission to legally recognize his child and you allow him to do so.
It was not something you had to think about too much, as Aemond has shown you so much and the emotion in his eyes through his tears when you said yes, only further confirmed the fact that you were not making a wrong decision.
And everyone in the family celebrates when Aemond's last name is added to your son's name and he is finally named Aenar Targaryen.

Snippet - Anyone But You (Alexia Putellas x reader)
It was the most important night in football as players all around the globe gathered in Paris for the prestigious Balon dâOr ceremony. Despite being one of the front runners you really didnât want to be there have just played the last game in the international break. This was now the third time you have been ranked high but having just lost out in the previous two years, last yearâs being to Alexia Putellas.Â
The moment your name is called though all irritated feelings disappear and proudness replaces them. You look into the audience and connect eyes with your sister Leah who was hands down your biggest fan, you could ask her and she would say the same thing. Even though Alexia had just lost, she too stood and applauded you with a grin on her face. You can only nod your head as your own sign of respect.
A couple of hours pass by and your social battery is all put empty. When Leah is having a little photoshoot with your trophy you see it as a perfect time to leave given that your younger sister is else wise occupied.
There was a chill in the air are you wait for your car service to arrive. Out the corner of your eye you see Alexia who is also waiting for her getaway car only she has a look a frustration on her face.
âÂżEsta todo bien?â You took the small of amounts of steps so that you were by her side. Alexia sends you a soft smile as you make the effort to speak her language.
âI wanted to leave but the car is for the team and they are still in thereâ Alexia points back to the building.
âYouâre staying at Le Grand Mazarin, right?â The Spaniard nods her head âMe too. You can share my car if you wantÂ
Alexia thanks you many times and by the time she is done your car is pulling up.Â
Both of you watch the streets of Paris pass by you. The car journey is taking a little while longer due to traffic but neither of you seem to mind. You do find yourself stealing glances at the blonde, choosing to take in the sights of her instead of the french architecture.
Truth is you found her extremely attractive and looked forward to these awards shows because you knew she would also be in attendance.
It is when the car comes to a complete standstill for the fourth time that you decide to make a move.
You place your hand gently on her thigh as a way to get her attention.
âDo you want to walk the rest of the way?â
Alexia glances down at her shoes before asking you how far away you were. When you tell her that itâs only an half hour walk she accepts your invite whilst butterflies flutter in her stomach.
Yes, the hotel was only a short distance but somehow you are both walking the streets of Paris two hours later. You both talk about the pressures of your career, the love you have for your families and the kind of things regular people would talk about on their first date.
When you get back to your hotel Alexia invites you for a night cap in her hotel room. It is an invite that you do not decline. She, like you, had a room with a balcony that overlooked the Eiffel Tower. You never saw Paris as the city of love but with Alexia standing beside you, your outlook began to change.
âCan you believe that this is our lives?â Alexia asks you the unintentionally heavy question.
âDo you ever think about living a different life? Like you are destined for something more?â You answer her question with another question.
âWe are Balon dâOr winning football players. What more are you talking about?â
âYou wouldnât understand. You are living your dream at Barcelonaâ
âAnd you are at Arsenal. It is your club just as Barcelona is mineâ
But what if I donât want it to be my club anymore?Â
You donât say that or at least you didnât think you did.
âI cannot imagine you in anything but an Arsenal shirtâ Alexia response lets you know that you did in fact say it out loud.
âI canât either and thatâs the problemâ you shake your head as you rid you mind of the thoughts âForget I said anythingâ
âI can make you forget about itâ Alexia closes the space between you, her hand comes to your cheek before leaning in to kiss you.
She did in fact make you forget about football and the stresses you were feeling.Â
When you wake up several hours later you do so with her arm wrapped securely around your waist. You feel vulnerable and exposed so you do what you think is best; you leave.
The walk from Alexiaâs room to the elevator felt much longer than it did the night before and it makes you realise that you are making a mistake. You have an incredible night with the Barcelona Captain, the best night you have had in a long long while. You are filled with regret as you all but run back to her room only you find the door slightly ajar.
âYou never do this Alexia. You slept with Y/N Williamson and she is-â
âIt was a mistake. You know how these nights are and I used her as a distraction. It was nothing, a mistake and it shouldnât have happenedâ
You couldnât believe what you were hearing. Last night you felt a connection with Alexia but clearly she didnât feel the same thing.Â
Paris wasnât the city of love. Paris was the city of lust and severe disappointment.

You're losing me
Pairing:Â Charles Leclerc x Reader
Synopsis:Â When the 2023 season comes to an end, everything falls down. Including your relationship with Charles.
Warnings: Angst. Charles is a little toxic maybe and an asshole. English isn't my first language, so it probably contains some mistakes. Sorry in advance!
Author's note: Let me know what you think. Your feedback is always appreciated and it is really important for me. If you have any ideas or concepts you want to share and that you want me to write, feel free to send them and I will take into consideration.
How long could we be a sad song 'Til we were too far gone to bring back to life? I gave you all my best me's, my endless empathy And all I did was bleed as I tried to be the bravest soldier Fighting in only your army Frontlines, don't you ignore me I'm the best thing at this party
âAnd Max Verstappen is a F1 world champion for the third time in a row!â, you heard the speakers saying even if everyone already knew that.Â
All attention was on Max and Red Bull but your thoughts were on someone else. Charles.
While Max was celebrating his victory, Charles had lost not only against Red Bull but also against his own teammate. In the end, Carlos had managed to overtake him in the drivers' standings. The same Carlos who had always been one step in front of him for the entire year, who had broken, albeit for just one race, Red Bull's dominance and had dominated during the weekend at Monza, Ferrariâs home race. It was frustrating because he was Il Predestinato, the one who was destined to win and bring Ferrari to success after all those years. But race after race and despite the support of his fans, it seemed to him that it was no longer the case. He didn't even feel the same anymore. He was losing his confidence and was tired to fight when everything and everyone seemed to be against him: his own team, the strategies, the car, his teammateâŚÂ
But most of all, Charles was angry. You could barely keep up with him from how fast he was walking. With the helmet still on, he was ignoring everyone, including you and his fans. Something he had never done before.Â
Despite his nervousness, he waited for you entering inside his driving room before slamming the door violently. You gasped at it.
You remained silent as you watched him change clothes and you thought about what you could tell him to console him. You didnât even know if it was a good idea talking to him. What could you tell him in a moment like that to make things better? You knew that whatever you would have said wouldn't have been enough. What could you tell him that you havenât told him yet? Because it wasn't the first time you found yourself in that situation, that things weren't going well...
You thought back over the past few months. It hadnât been a good year for him and as a result, your relationship had suffered too. The worse the races went, the more, in fact, he was disappointed and threw himself more into work. When he didn't have to race, he was in Maranello at the factory working on the car and getting ready for the next race. Although you had tried to accompany him whenever you could, you had seen him less and less often. You also didn't feel welcome at the factory as you felt like your presence was bothering him. Scared by that, you had stopped going with him. You know it wasnât true, that it was only your mind playing tricks on you. Was it?He loved you... you werenât a burden or a distraction to him â you had repeated to yourself for months. He just needed to focus on his job if he wanted to win. Knowing how much it was important to him, you had put yourself aside and never said anything about it or how you felt. Not even when he didnât come home for your anniversary because he had to work or when he forgot your birthday. You had remained silent even then, forgiving and justifying him, even though every disappointment and forgetfulness were like a stab in your heart, making you feel less and less important. In the end, it wasn't even worth it.
Although you were sad for Charles, a part of you was happy that the season had finally come to an end and that the winter break was about to start. It was your chance to spend some time together away from everything and everyone. Everything would have gone back to normal, to how it was before. You and Charles would have been fine again. At least it was what you thoughtâŚÂ How wrong you were.
As Charles was putting his t-shirt on, you hugged him from behind and rested your chin on his shoulder. Or at least, you tried. He moved your arms off of you and walked away leaving you paralyzed in the middle of the room. You heard him grumble.Â
You felt rejected by the man you loved and who told you he loved you. Because in that moment it didnât seem like that.Â
It wasnât the first time that you felt rejected. The truth was that you hadnât felt loved by him for months.Â
You wanted to cry but you couldnât. You had cried enough for him. You had lost count of the nights you spent crying before falling asleep.Â
âCharlesâŚâ, you managed to whisper than to say.Â
He turned to look at you.Â
âWhat⌠what happens?â
He looked at you in disbelief. âWhat happens? Weren't you out there? Didn't you see what happened? I lost everything! Here what happened!â, he screamed. âI lost the championship, again! Iâm not even vice-champion this time and my own teammate beat me. Iâve been driving a tract for the entire year. Isnât all this enough for you?âÂ
As you listened to him, you realized how everything was always about him. He was still talking about the damn season he had, the championship, the car, his teammate⌠when you didnât give a fuck about them, not anymore. You cared about you. You and Charles. But it didn't seem to be the same for your boyfriend.
He was still complaining about the season when you stopped him. You had enough. âNo, I meant why you moved earlier.â
He turned around looking at you in confusion as if he didnât understand what you were saying.Â
âWhat⌠what are you talking about? When?âÂ
You couldnât believe it. Was he making fun of you? How could he be so oblivious about everything, about you? Weren't you the woman he said he loved?
âNow when I hugged you and you immediately moved away from me as if you couldnât stand my touch. Why that?â
Charles sighed and you could see how annoyed he was from your affirmation. Too bad for him that you were tired too and you couldnât stand that situation anymore. It was time for both of you to clarify it.Â
âIt was nothing. I didnât even realize itâ, he said turning and giving you his back.Â
âYou see, Charles, this is the problem. You wouldnât have realized it if I hadn't pointed it out for you. You never realize anythingâ, you said.Â
âWhat would that mean? I already said that it was nothing. You're overreacting, Y/N!â
As your patience had reached its limit, you ended bursting out.Â
âIt was something, Charles! It meant for me. But apparently you simply donât care enough about me and also about us if you donât realize how much youâre hurting me, or I should say how I much you had hurt me in the last monthsâ, you yelled at him while your eyes started filling with tears.Â
Your words caught him off guard and put him in difficulty. He turned around to face you.Â
âIâm sorry, okay? I didn't do it on purpose. I just have a lot of things on my mind right now. This year suckedâŚâÂ
You didnât give him the time to finish.Â
âStop, Charles! Iâve had enough. Yeah, this season, the car, the team, everything sucked. I know that very well and do you know why? Because Iâve been by your side the whole time supporting and consoling you when everyone and everything seemed to be against you. And despite all this, you managed to make me feel like I wasnât welcome. The least you could do is not push me away.â With every word you raised your voice more and more, not caring who could hear you from outside.Â
âI never asked you to do all those things.â
You looked at him in disbelief. You quickly wiped away a tear that was falling down your cheek. He didn't deserve to see you crying. He didn't deserve you tears anymore.
You wondered yourself who was the person in front of you because that wasnât the same Charles you knew and loved. There was a completely stranger in front of you as you didn't recognize him anymore.
âYes, you didnât but I did it anyway and I donât regret it, Charles. I'd do it all again because I love you. ButâŚâÂ
The thought had been tormenting you for months. You had kept pushing it away, trying not to listen to it but it came back stronger every time. You didn't want to believe it was true because it would mean the end of you and Charles. But maybe your relationship had been over a long time ago and you were just postponing the inevitable.Â
âBut it looks like my love isnât enough anymore or maybe⌠maybe you donât love me anymore, I donât know. But I know for sure that in the last year youâve loved your job, the championship and everything else more than me and don't try to deny it because you proved it several times, Charles. And Iâm sorry but I'm tired of trying to make this relationship work when it seems Iâm the only one who cares about it. I canât keep fighting for both of usâ, you said as you started collecting your things around the room, even the pieces of your broken heart. You wanted to leave that place and everything behind you as soon as possible. You were about to burst into tears.Â
âWait. What are you doing?â, he asked as he realized what you were about to do.Â
âLeavingâ, you simply said avoiding looking him in the face. You were afraid of the effect it might have on you.Â
âWhat do you mean? The room or⌠me?âÂ
Good question. You didn't know it either.Â
âI⌠donât know. Maybe both, but for now the room for sure. I need some fresh air and... some time.âÂ
You collected your last things.
You had reached the door when his words stopped you.Â
âSo is it like this? Just because I've been absent recently or because I didn't win, you break up with me? You know I was working all the time, right?âÂ
You turned around to face him. All the sadness from earlier had been replaced by anger. You approached him reducing the distance between you. How could he think so low of you?
âDonât you dare, Charles! I don't care if you're the champion of the world or not. I've always loved and wanted you despite that. And yes, I know you have been working all this time. You know why? Because that's all you've done this year: work, work and again work. If we've reached this point, it's⌠Do you know what? Nevermind. Itâs just a waste of time and I've already wasted it enough. And so did you. I assume you have some work to do or am I wrong?âÂ
Maybe you had exaggerated with your words but you didn't care at all. You were hurt and angry.
Charles said nothing as you stood looking at each other.Â
You weren't sure what you were hoping for. But anything would have been better than that deafening silence that was slowly killing you inside. It felt like the world was ending. For sure something was certainly over between you and Charles. But was it the end for you and him? Or there was still hope?
Your hand was on the doorknob, ready to leave when you turned to Charles. You wanted to see him one last time, to remember the Charles you loved but all you saw was a stranger.Â
âYou know what, Charles? You were right in the end. Youâve lost everything, including me, us. Good work, Charles.â
And with those last words you left the room and Charles.Â
You exited the garage and walked quickly across the paddock hoping no one would have stopped or seen you.Â
As you were keeping your head down, you didn't see that Joris was coming in the opposite direction and you collided with him.
"Oh, Joris... I'm sorry, I didn't see you...", you told him.
"Hey, Y/n. Is it everything ok? Where are you going?"
You were avoiding his gaze. If you would have looked at him in the eyes, you wouldn't have been able to hold back the tears anymore. "Away, Joris. I need to go", you whispered as your eyes started to fill with tears again.
"Wait, where? What happened?"
You quickly looked at him before hugging him.
"Nothing, don't worry. Take care of him for me, Joris."
You quickly kissed his cheek and left him there confused as he watched you walking away.
Stop, you're losin' me Stop, you're losin' me Stop, you're losin' me I can't find a pulse My heart won't start anymore For you 'Cause you're losin' me

Youâve written before about groomers and abusive ex boyfriends. I was wondering if youâd be comfortable writing about running into an old abuser whoâs obsessive, borderline psychopathic about you. Someone youâve always hidden from but almost forgot about under the warm umbrella of franks protection. And then heâs there and youâre so scared you try to run, but Frank wonât let you. This guy takes Frank as some kind of psycho challenge and you donât want him to get hurt, but also feel ashamed about your problems
I know itâs kinda dark so no worries if itâs too much! As always your mental health and wellbeing is the most important thing đ
TRADE THE PAIN âľ F. CASTLE
Summary: Youâve found a safe haven in Frank after an abusive relationship, but your ex resurfaces.
Warnings: Violence, language, references to past abuse but nothing explicit, hurt/comfort, feminine nicknames
Word count: 1.9k
Authorâs note: Thank you for your sweet words anon! Iâm sending you so much love, I hope you enjoy this <3
Meeting Frank was the best possible thing that could have happened to you. He was everything you had dreamed of â kind, protective, charming and most importantly, he trusted you and respected you. He wasnât perfect, struggling particularly with finding himself worthy of you, but he was ultimately a good man and you had absolutely fallen for him, just like he had fallen for you. He treated you like an angel, always gentle and caring with you, and after your previous relationship, it felt so good to be cherished.
In all fairness, it had taken you a while to warm up to him. Your ex had messed you up royally, and you were hesitant to trust another man so soon after escaping the toxic relationship, but Frank had quickly torn down your defenses and shown you just what kind of guy he was. Even when you learned about him being the Punisher, you werenât scared. You knew heâd never hurt you, that his aggression was only towards those who deserved it, and that was more than you could say for your ex-boyfriend.
With Frankâs help, you changed your phone number and moved to another part of the city, giving you another chance at life; a fresh start. And you were more than excited to share it with Frank. He was understanding of your situation, even offered to go and take care of him for you, but you had insisted on moving on and forgetting about your past.
It worked a little too well, in fact. You were used to looking over your shoulder and avoiding places you knew your ex frequented, but with Frank by your side, that bone-deep anxiety slowly began to fade away. You felt safe with him, and it wasnât just an assumption â you knew for a fact he was going to protect you no matter what, and it was enough for you to start letting your guard down.
That meant, however, that you definitely didnât expect your ex to find you.
You and Frank had spent the evening at your favorite diner, occupying yourselves with fries and milkshakes and laughing about his caveman-like eating habits, and it had been the most fun you had had in years. Frank was a simple man but he knew exactly how to entertain you and keep you happy, sometimes with a humble date like this, and it was all you needed to smile and feel happy for days after.
But as you made your way back to your apartment, Frank walking you home, of course, you found your ex standing at the front door of the building. You spotted him from afar, and you froze on the pavement, pulling on Frankâs hand as he realized you had stopped walking, concern twisting his face while looking you over.
âWhat is it, sweetheart?â he rasped, trying to read your face, but he couldnât tell what was causing the immense panic all over it. His hand came to rest on your shoulder, his warm presence consoling you as he stood in front of you, forcing you to look from your ex and over to him. He was right there, and he was with you. God, he was so good to you. Why couldnât things just stay the way they had been for the past months?
With a scared tear rolling down your cheek, you nodded towards the entrance of your apartment building where your ex was standing with an impatient fidget. âItâsâitâs my ex-boyfriend. He⌠he found meâ, you shuddered, genuine fear turning your body rigid. Your heart was hammering in your chest so hard, it felt like it was going to burst through, and every part of your body was screaming at you to make a run for it. You wished you could have been relieved Frank was there with you, but you felt ashamed and embarrassed that your past was still causing you trouble and you couldnât just be happy with him.
Turning around, Frank stared at the man who still hadnât noticed you. âAlright. Come on, I gotchu. This is your home and he ainât gonâ invade it. Not while Iâm hereâ, he decided, and despite your reluctance, you didnât fight back when Frank tightened his hold on your hand and walked you straight to the front door.
At the sight of you, your exâs face lit up. âFinally, youâre here. Iâve been waiting for hours. I ringed your apartment but you didnât answer so I figured you werenât home. I canât believe I found youâ, he began rambling, as intense and obsessive as you remembered, and it instantly unsettled you. You tried to hide behind Frank, even if you felt bad that he had to be in the between.
âYou need to leaveâ, you spoke up, but your voice was meek and careful, hardly enough to convince him. Thankfully, Frank was on your side.
âYou heard herâ, he said coldly when your ex remained right where he was. There was a mean stare in Frankâs eyes, and it was no wonder â he didnât want you to worry, but he had dreamed of the day he could punch your ex in the face. Now that the opportunity was presenting itself, he surely wasnât going to back down.
âYeah? And who do you think you are?â your ex snorted, not exactly threatened, which you knew was a grave mistake.
âIâm her boyfriend. Now, I ainât gonna say this again. Leave, and donât even think about coming backâ, Frank glared at him, taking personal offense in the fact that your ex had the guts to show up like this. âCanât you take a hint, asshole? She doesnât want anythinâ to do with youâ, he added, tilting his head at your ex like he was addressing a child.
That pushed him over the edge, and without warning, he swung his fist at Frank. With ease, Frank dodged the incoming punch, and officially in a fighting mood, he carefully let go of your hand and guided you a little further away just to be safe. You didnât know what to say, so you obeyed and stood aside, watching as Frank grabbed your ex by the neckline of his shirt and punched him in the nose. He did it once, then twice, then once more, until your ex collapsed on the ground.
Frank was about to turn to you and take your hand again, but before he could, your ex had swiped him in the calf with a knife he had pulled from his pocket, causing Frank to stumble with a groan. You flinched, but you didnât have to do anything when Frank was acting already, brutally stomping on your exâs wrist so that he was forced to drop a knife. He snatched the knife from the ground and pointed it at your ex, and you were well-aware he wouldnât hesitate to use it.
You were almost right â Frank wanted to bury the weapon in your exâs guts, but he wasnât going to do it in front of you. âGet the fuck outta here. I donât wanna see your face ever againâ, he spat, his hands balled into fists as he waited for your ex to crawl up from the ground and run away.
And when he did, Frank wrapped a protective arm around your shoulders and steered you to the front door. âAlright, sweetheart?â he asked, his voice much softer now, and it made you smile weakly. Even though he had a violent streak, he was always so tender with you.
âYeah, thanksâ, you spoke quietly, and he could tell you were still a little uneasy, but he chose not to comment on it as he took you upstairs to your apartment.
Once you were inside, you went to change into your PJs, needing the moment alone to gather your thoughts and feelings. You were grateful to Frank, but you also hated that he had to get involved. It felt like such a burden, like you were far more than he had signed up for, and it made you worry that he was going to get sick of you eventually. Your ex was your problem, so it didnât feel fair to make Frank take care of it.
Little did you know, he wouldnât have had it any other way. As soon as you had started dating â Hell, even before that, he had acknowledged that he was going to protect you with his best efforts, and that he was going to help you carry the weight of your past. You helped him too, after all.
You trailed out of the bedroom and saw the light on in the bathroom, so you swiftly figured Frank had gone in to take care of the cut on his calf. A bang of guilt for not looking after him hit you square in the chest, but you swallowed it down. You were feeling more calm now, the shock of seeing your ex slowly retreating, so you drifted back to Frank after grabbing some ice from the freezer.
You found him seated on the edge of your bathtub, his leg hoisted on top of his other one so he could get access to the torn fabric of his jeans. âIs it bad?â you asked shyly, and quick to reassure you, Frank shook his head.
âNah, itâs barely anythinâ. Piece of shitâs pretty lousy even with a weaponâ, he chuckled, trying to make light of the situation, and it did get you to smile.
âIâm sorryâ, you sighed while walking over to him and taking his big hand in yours, so you could press the ice pack against his red knuckles.
He frowned while looking at your forlorn expression. âSorry for what, darlinâ?â he questioned, and with a lick of your lips, you looked down at your feet. He wrapped an arm around your waist and reeled you in, getting you to sit on his lap while he wiped your hair away from your face.
âItâs just so embarrassing. I never wanted you to get hurt. Or to have to deal with him in the first place. Itâs not your problem to fixâ, you explained, shame loud in your voice. Frank was having none of it. Gently, he tilted your head up, so he could meet your gaze and give you a completely serious look.
âHey, your problems are my problems now. What kinda boyfriend would I be if I made you deal with it all by yourself, huh? âSides, ya do know itâs kinda my area to fight assholes, right?â he reminded with a soft smile. You shrugged, but you couldnât deny he was right.
âI just wish I didnât have to worry about him anymoreâ, you lamented, and nodding in understanding, Frank leaned in to kiss your forehead.
âLemme take care of it, aight? I promise, it ainât gonna be a problem anymoreâ, he swore, and with a budding smile, you dropped your head onto his shoulder. You knew exactly what he meant, but you didnât argue â if anyone deserved to be on the wrong end of Frankâs fists or gun, it was your ex. And the world would be a better place without him.
âI donât know what Iâd do without youâ, you admitted sheepishly, and breaking into a grin, Frank caressed your hair.
âAnd you never gotta find out, little lady.â

Beware of mistakes, this is simply what my mind produced after a long period of having no motivation. Itâs relatively short, but there will be more parts.
Summary of pt.1: Theodore Nott was dating Pansy, but also seeing you in secret at the same time. After pondering and dealing with moral dilemmas, you decided to end it. But just as you were getting closer with Pansy, she finds out, and this is how it goes from then on. I recommend you read pt.1 of âAll because I liked a boyâ for better context.
For two weeks now youâve been trying to crawl your way back into the semi-friendship that you and Pansy shared. All in vain. There was simply nothing that could make up for what you did. No object expensive enough and no apology genuine enough to turn things around. The last conversation in class that you had went like thisâŚ
âI know you donât want to hear it, but-â
âThen shut upâ
âPansy what will it take for me to redeem myself, please just tell me, I truly want to make it betterâ
She raised her hand after you said that and loudly announced that she couldnât focus with you next to her. Now you sat next to Daphne. It was looking hopeless.
âŚ
âLETS GO FRESH MEAT, NO SLACKING OFF!â, yelled Angelina. Itâs not like you were doing it on purpose. You were considerably good at quidditch, but playing with your friends and playing competitively for house pride were two different things. Especially with Harry Potter, one of a kind wunderkind, on your team too.
Everything was dizzying around you. The players zoomed by so fast that you couldnât even tell apart who was who. The balls flew up down left right, one blink and you could be knocked off your broom. Quidditch had never felt this intense. You try to manage and not drag the team down, but you donât seem to be contributing much either. Itâs alright considering you were âfresh meatâ, but then you remembered that Harry caught the snitch as a first yearâŚ
Although Harry was team captain, Angelina was actually taking over the leader role.
âPASS NOW!â, she yells, and youâre not sure who sheâs directing it at.
You frantically turn and freeze upon seeing a quaffle flying at you at maximum speed. It was now or never. The quaffle gets closer and closer, so close that you swear it was only millimeters away from your face. Failing was unacceptable at this point. And your reflexes donât disappoint you. You reach out and your palms get hit with the immense pressure of the ball. It was almost painful, but you had to soldier through.
Youâre not sure if it was the right call, but when some guy was hinting at you to pass the quaffle to him, you donât. Your road to scoring wasnât particularly blocked, and you had a shot. With one hand steadily holding the quaffle, and the other gripping onto your broom for dear life, navigating you through the players, you inch closer and closer to the rings andâŚ
âSCOREEE!!! THAT'S HOW WE DO IT FRESH MEAT!â
You let out a fucking sigh. That was exhilarating. Hopefully youâd soon go from âfresh meatâ to your own name, but all within due time. Right now, being the Gryffindor team's newest chaser addition was enough to satisfy you.
âTEAM HUDDLEâ, Harry commanded so you all got into a circle before leaving today's practice session. âDonât forget, we have a match against the Slytherins in five days, so I want all of you to be in top shape. Sleep enough, eat well, and no distractionsâ You all nod in unison to his last words, and leave the field one by one.
Frankly it was a bit nerve wracking that you had to play in such an important match, while having just joined. You didnât want to disappoint everyone after all. But you remind yourself that there is a good reason for which you were accepted.
Your legs and arms ache from that intense practice match, causing you to slump a little while walking. In the dressing room you are left behind, with the others leaving one by one. As youâre about to step out too, you freeze at the sight of who was standing before you.
âSo I see you made the teamâ, Theo carefully states.
You can only gulp at his words. You werenât sure what this was going to lead up too.
âWhat made you join? I mean you are really goodâ
What was he doing? Oh, and the reason? You canât help but think back to a certain first conversation with someone.
âI come in peaceâ, he continues saying.
Something made you think that that wasnât entirely true.
âSo what do you want?â, you finally respond.
âI donât know. I guessâŚâ, Theo suddenly goes silent in the middle of his sentence.
âGuess what?â
âNevermindâ, he swallows. âGood luck for the upcoming match anywayâ. He then slowly turns and walks away, head down as if he was terribly ashamed.
So much for no distractions. You completely forgot that Theo played too. How fun that would be.

Hi~ Hi! ~How are you? Don't forget to rest, this is very important!
Can I request Welt Yang, Dan Heng and Arlan with a blind reader(gn or male)? Reader can protect himself, reserved and calm, but there are days.... When reader very upset about what he can't see their ŮŠ(ŕšęŚŕş´ČęŚŕş´ŕš)Űś
(hurt /comfort )
Reserved and calm blind S/O
[ HEADCANONS ] [ Welt, Dan Heng, Arlan ]
[ Honkai Star Rail ]
Hehe :3c thanks for being so considerate and requesting some of my favorites boooooys ~
I think i already said this before but one of my biggest fears is to be completely blind, but writing this kind of prompt actually makes me feel comforted and less afraid! So thank you
Also WE NEED MORE ARLAN CONTENT!! HE DESERVE MORE LOVE!! COME ONE, HOYOVERSE!! THIS IS NOT FAIR FOR MY POOR BOY!! EVEN PEPPY HAS MORE LOVE
Welt Yang
Once you two start to be in a relationship Welt is already sure of what he feels for you and that he wants to share his life with you, he isn't the type to tell everyone about your relationship but is quite obvious that you two are together by how close he likes to stay with you or the expression full of adoration Welts has whenever he look at you
Welt doesn't think that your disability is a problem for your relasionship and he has no problem with helping you around if you need it, however he won't underestimate you in the slighlest, if you say that you are capable of taking care of yourself then he will step back and let you walk around on your own, just offering you his help when is need it (or when you want it)
Welt loves you and cares for you so of course he will look after your well-being, he wants to make sure you are safe and is willing to use his own strenght to help you and protect you if you ever need it (just as he is willing to protect the rest of the crew), even so he knows really well that you are more than capable to protect yourself and he is willing to step back and let you fight on your own (he doesn't say it often but he feel quite prideful of the fact that you are more capable of protecting yourself, and even more whenever he can see you in action)
Although, whenever you two are in a new place Welt is a little more cautious with where you walk and what you touch, always offering you his hand so he can guide you around until you feel comfortable enough to do it by your self (he can't really let you borrow his cane but he can always get one for yourself)
If you ever ask him to describe something for you he can do it, he takes a moment to be able to think on how to describe something in the best way posible and he is actually really good at doing it (he once worked in an animation company so he knows how to do it, however he sometimes can be a little too specific or talk with technicalities so he may have to explain a few things twice, but he doesn't mind and actually apologize for not being clear enough with a soft chuckle)
Your calm and reserved nature is no a problem for him, he knows that he must win your trust and make you feel comfortable with him for you to open up and he is more than willing to wait for you to talk to him whenever you are ready, in the mean time you two can just spend some quality time together
The only thing that can posibly bother him about your reserved nature is if you hide what you feel and what trouble you, he understand if you don't want to seem as weak (specially by the fact that you are blind and people can underestimate you by that) or even show vulnerability, he is your partner and he wants to be able to help you, he is willing to wait for you to be comfortable but if you don't seem to talk about something that is bothering you Welt will have no other option than ask you right away
Welt knows that even if you are used to your condition and even already learn to live with it that doesn't mean it wont bother you at times or that it can't cause you troubles, so when he gets to know that there are days that you just feel bad about being blind and about not being able to see anything he isn't too surprised about it, still he won't really take it in a bad way nor think you are exaggerating or something
Welt is actually pretty good at comforting you, he doesn't like leaving you alone when you feel so bad but he is more than willing to just sit at your side and make you company, also he can be a shoulder to cry or someone to vent to and he pretty much just let you vent all you need without saying much, just the necesary for you to know that he is here for you (probably just holding you close in a really comforting embrace, as if he was trying to hide you from the world so is just the two of you). Welt is really with words too, he doesn't sugar coat things but know what to say in the right moment
Even if you never feel bad about your condition Welt is constantly giving you reasurance about how amazing and valuable you are, a disability doesn't make you less than anyone else and doesn't make him love you less, so you doesn't have to worry nor feel insecure, and yet he is more than willing to repeat it for you a million of times if that makes you feel better
Dan Heng
Dan Heng may feel quite troubled with the idea of starting a relationship for how much troubles he has with himself and his past, still he doesn't want to stop himself from walk in his own path, so, even if he can feel quite shy about the romantic stuff once he knows he likes you and his feelings are reciprocated he doesn't see why not at least give a try
Dan Heng isn't troubled in the slighest for your disability, he can feel a little sad about when thinking on it but he normally doesn't say anything about it (not wanting to upset you or even offend you by accident), he does respect you a lot and don't exactly underestimate you but he can't help but worry about you, he had a lot of troubles on the past and now that he finally can have some peace with people he can trust and love he just doesn't want to lose that
Even when you tell Dan Heng that you are more than capable to protect yourself that doesn't stop him from wanting to protect you, is just part of his caring nature (and he fears that his past just bring you problems), he just can't help but glance at you from time to time to make sure that you are alright or just to know that you are still there (in all honestly, Dan Heng sometimes just fears that something bad would happen to you and he need that constant reasurance even if you weren't blind he will feel the same)
He prefers to avoid getting into troubles but there are times when it is imposible but is in those times that he can see you actually defending yourself, and, even when he hates seeing you getting into troubles he also feel quite relief and even at ease knowing that you aren't defendless
Dan Heng doesn't mind at all your calm and reserved personality, it is a good change from the March and the trailblazer energetic mess that they are and your personality just helps him feel more at easy and comfortable, he is happy if you two just spend some quality time, even if you were just in the same room doing completely diferent things he will still appreciate those moments with all his heart
Dan Heng tries really hard to don't underestimate because of your disability but he just can't help but want to help you, and most of the times he just does things to help you unconsciously, taking your hand to help you guide yourself or making sure there is nothing that can obstruct your path while walking, he also normally walk by your side and tries to make sure no one bump into you or you yourself end up bumping into something
Whenever you have to visit a new place Dan Heng likes to walk slowly, just waiting for you to feel comfortable enough to walk with more confidence, as well he tries to describe you your surroundings mainly to warn you of what it is around (even when he is close, ready to help you avoid get hurt). He doesn't really think he is good at describing things for you but if you really want to he'll give a try, most of the time he gives good describes about the things you ask him but feels a little embarrassed if someone else heard him doing it (not that he will stop, he just can't say no to you when you ask for his help)
Dan Heng undestands really well your reserved nature, there are things that he prefer to keep for himself too, still he tries to remember you from time to time that you aren't alone in life, you have the rest of the astral express crew and you have him, even if the only thing he can do for you is be by your side the he gladly do it. When he start noticing that you feel more down Dan Heng imediatly has the impulse to offer you help and yet he ask you if he can help or you rather prefer to be alone, he doesn't like the idea of leaving you but if you feel more comfortable by being alone the he will leave you have time for yourself
Dan Heng isn't really the best to offer comfort but he at least decide to be a shoulder to cry if you need it, just letting you vent and hearing you with care, holding you close to him in a comforting embrace (if that helps you and you left him, of course) but without saying much, still he does say a few things about how important you are. Dan Heng feels quite bad about not being able to offer more comfort so he will decide to try to be more open about how much he cares for you and how important you are for him and the rest of the crew (also, he will probably ask Himeko or Welt for some device to be able to help you feel better about yourself)
Arlan
Arlan is someone really caring and selfless and when he start a relasionship with you he is more than ready to try his hardest to be a good boyfriend for you (what will take him some time and tries because Arlan tend to be way too selfless and dedicated to his job), even so, there is no doubt on how much Arlan actually loves you, even his co-workers notice and always express how happy they are for him embarrasing him on the process
The fact that you are blind doesn't bother Arlan but it does worry him, no matter how stronge and capable you are to defend yourself that doesn't stop him from worry about you (but that doesn't mean he doesn't find you incredibly amazing and admirable, everytime he thinks on how you are more than capable to protect yourself even despite not being able to see he feels motivated to do a great job in the Herta Space Station and even become stronger), Arlan is selfless and more than ready to step in the front of the battlefield to protect everyone and everything on the Space Station, and since you are so special for him that feeling just intensifies, he is naturally caring so he will always express it for you (along with his infinite love for you, most of the time he just does without noticing but with a lot of confidence, that is why he always gets embarrased when you or someone else point it out)
Most of the time Arlan is too busy to spend as much time as he would like with you so he treasures all the moments he has with you and actually tries to accommodate his schedule to be with you (thanks to Asta for that too) and when he can't he just let you with Peppy, letting you two at each other's care
Whenever you two are together Arlan tries to pay attention to the surroundings to make sure nothing will get in your way and bring you troubles, however whenever he is with you is just matter of time for him to feel so relaxed that he can let his guard down and just forget about all his work and worries for a moment, and everytime it happens he has a smile in his face, without fail. Even if he gets distracted he is quick to react, so even if he lets his guard down if something may threaten you (even something small like an obstacle that makes you stumble) he is quick to take care of it and will even apologize for let it happen
Arlan doesn't feel to skilled to be able to describe things for you if you ask him, he is more formal when describing things because of his work so he isn't confident to do it because he thinks he may just end up disappointing you so he ask Asta to do it for him, he knows she is better at helping you with that so he just steps back and watch you two talk about all you want (he feels a little bad for not being able to help you but doesn't really say it), but if you want to touch something to take a glance of it he will be happy to be there to you to hand you whatever you want to touch and make sure you don't hurt yourself by accident (if you want to touch his face he will be incredibly flustered but wont be able to say no)
Arlan is respectful of your reserved personality and the fact that you are so calm actually helps him feel more relaxed and have time to actually rest whenever he is with you, still he may feel a little bit anxious if after some time of being in a relationship you still are too reserved and prefer to don't talk to him about how you feel, he'll try to help you feel comfortable to open up but he isn't too sure to how to do it so he may just ask some advice to Asta
Getting to know that there are days where you feel really bad or even depressed because of how you disability makes you lose a lot of beautiful scenaries (specially for how much everyone in the Space Station talks about the universe and their investigation) makes Arlan feel upsed too, not because he pity you but because he doesn't like seeing his lover so sad, he will just sit by your side and let you vent all you need, holding you close and just reasuring you that even if you can't see that doesn't makes you less valuable nor less lovable, in all honestly he feels bad for not being able to do more for you and probably apologize for it too, but he also promise to never leave you and always love you, he will do everything on his power to make you happy (probably will resort to use Asta and Peppy's help to comfort you because he feels like he can't do much for you, its okay as long as it helps you feel better again)

if itâs not too much trouble, could you share a bit about how to better support closeted/ just-cracked trans women?
Okay this is going to be a fairly long response, be warned. Its also based off personal experience (or lack of positive experience) from how I'm treated irl. also its 4 am some of this may be less coherent than I want but whatever.
The basics: name & pronouns. Ask who its safe to use these in front of!!! Dont out someone to their parents or partner or boss!! Otherwise use these as much as possible. Avoid deadnames and dead-pronouns as much as possible too - I am fine with being they/themed over he/him and prefer a nameless "later, nerd" to "bye, deadname". sometimes its unavoidable but many times its not. this is 101 stuff but I see lots of people forget it.
Going out and about: GO. WITH. HER. A LOT. She fucking needs it. Go clothes shopping together and teach her how to pick out good clothes/outfits and how to at least begin to decipher the mess that is sizing. Find her a "spinny skirt" (pleated mini skirt or skater skirt, forgot the exact one but anything similar to those) if she really wants one, I dont care how cringe you find the memes this is more important than Reddit Bad jokes. IF YOU ARE ABLE TO, TAKE HER TO THE WOMENS WASHROOM WITH YOU. yknow how girls go to the bathroom in groups for safety? yeah trans women need triple that safety and nobody provides it like ever, even other trans women. change that and be that safety. also, if youre like ordering food or at the cashier, always use the correct pronouns even if misgendering happens. if she gets a "what would you like sir" from the waiter, you are going to say something like "she would like a cheeseburger with fries and a fountain drink". this will save her ass from a lot of awkward correcting.
transitioning & hrt: if she needs a space to wear femme clothes safely, invite her over or go out together. try to avoid places where people she's not out to frequently go. for hrt, if you already accessed it HELP HER AS WELL. the amount of people who are like one step removed from pulling the ladder up behind them with regards to hrt is insane. so much "fuck you got mine" attitude in this community. anyways, DESCRIBE THE PROCESS YOU WENT THROUGH, STEP BY STEP. mention specific doctors, clinics, etc. if you do diy, mention the provider, what to look for on blood work, how to take it (injection, gel, etc) and send relevant articles/pages, about each part, not just the hrt wiki home page. if you have a prescription, mention ANY AND ALL procedures you went through to get hrt. psychologist? readiness assessment? any other screening process? DESCRIBE IN DETAIL WHAT YOU WERE ASKED AND HOW YOU ANSWERED. this can literally be a life saving thing. treat that information like the death star plans and she is the rebellion. precise motherfucking details. similar thing for any surgeries like ffs, tracheal shave, various types of bottom surgery. if you and her are going through different systems (say, you got it under 18 as a youth and she's 22 and no longer qualifies for that, or she wants diy while you have a prescription) then look up third party anecdotes as well. reddit is great for this as they often have city specific trans subreddits which lets you look at local doctors/clinics/providers & shipping. if she gets hit with dysphoria, "you are valid" CAN help new girls but as a half closeted girl for the past three years, I know I'm valid already thank you very much. dysphoria is different to each person, just be there to comfort her, help distract if nothing else. Teach her to shave if she wants, offer to do her makeup if you know how (some tutorials are made by and for trans women btw! check those out if you can). if she wants to order things online, anything from a flag to a dress to diy hrt, but can't for fear of outing, OFFER TO BE THE RECEIVING ADDRESS AND PASS IT ON IN PERSON. you can also try setting up a PO box away from home. covering some costs can potentially help lower suspicion but only do this of you have the money. in general just be a safe & informative helpful person who is willing to stand by her side.
Other general tips:
- if you are transfem yourself you will know and experience many of these things. do not withhold information like others do. did you have another trans person in your own life who helped you out when you first cracked? if yes, now its your turn. if no, then dont let her lose out on that too. actually support your sisters for once.
- if you are having sex, she may want to be submissive and/or bottom more as these are often "forbidden" when youre male. if thats compatible with you then try to accommodate that, and throw in some gender affirming stuff like a "good girl". praise kink often works well here, but always ask first. teach her how to bottom if she wants. AFTERCARE holy shit aftercare. yeah that should also be at least skmewhat gender affirming. dont skip out.
- the self doubt spiral: "you are valid" are the three words that get way more use than they really should. "valid" is so vague that its near useless. if you can, find the specific root (e.g. "I feel like a pervert cuz I get euphoria boners when I wear a sexy dress") and respond with counter examples that tell her she belongs, she is a woman, e.g. "youre not a pervert, plenty of cis women feel similar and enjoy dressing sexy as well". this is mainly for self doubt not other types of dyphoria.
- she will probably be really fucking depressed and possibly even suicidal at some point. usually close to egg crack or after a shitty experience. personally, I have a lot of passive suicidal thoughts where I dont wnat to make any attempts but wouldn't mind if I vanished, if it weren't for a few things. try to be there as a rock in the stream for her to hold onto during depression. it is fucking rough and in the words of bill withers, we all need somebody to lean on. eventually we will all stand tall together.
I am sure there's more but I think I covered most of the points I wanna make.

Anakin and Slavers
"His undoing is that he loveth too much"
George Lucas
One thing that I always liked about George´s work in relation to Anakin and slavery is how out of the left field he and Dave Filoni wrote Anakin´s relationship to the people who owned or saw him as a property at one point or another and yet it makes total sense for his character.
For example kid Anakin has no doubt that Slavery is horrible and at 9 he is actually working towards developing technology to help free his Mom, friends and himself from it. He hates with capital H the fact those people have control over the life and death of other people but at the same time he has great compassion and kindness which his mother helped nurture. This along with the fact that Watto was the only adult male figure who was around during his early chilldhood, this complicated his feelings towards slavers in a very tragic way.
Anakin feared Watto´s violence and didn´t for a moment doubt he would have been willing to sell off his mother or him if the customer got to a big enough price but at the same time he listens to his advice when he travels to the dune sea to do his work with the jawas and his pov is almost as important as his Mom´s, in the novelization of TPM Anakin remembers not to talk to strangers or to get close to Tuskens Raiders camps thanks to Watto´s advice.
So in Anakin´s mind, Watto is someone he fears but also someone he takes advice from, respects to a point, sometimes gets sassy to and actually listens to almost as a father figure BUT at the same time he has no doubt he would activate the killing chip if he tried to escape.
Pain/abuse/fear mixed with care/advice(sounds familiar?) Anakin knows slavery is awful but he can´t help but see Watto as a person because of who Anakin is, Annie is a kind and understanding person and to point may justify Watto as a "Man of bussines" and "Not as bad a other masters" "It could be worse" but he definitely doesn´t trust him in the same way he does his mother, she is blood, she is family. He and Mom are a team. They shared their secrets.
The first time Anakin saw Watto again after being freed, he was a Jedi with training, almost a knight and the first thing he does to the guy who beat him and his Mom some years ago is to ask him if he can help with the ship parts Watto is working on because he noticed Watto is struggling and his bussines is falling down compared to how it was when Anakin was a kid. When Watto noticed who Anakin was he didn´t reject him and accepted his congratulations but keep himself appart, hoping to learn about his mother whereabouts.
When Watto told Anakin he sold Shmi, Anakin doesn´t have a reaction, he takes Watto´s justification of "I am sorry Ani but bussines are bussines and anyway the person who bought her freed her and married her" Anakin doubts it´s as good a picture as Watto is talking about but he takes his justification and leaves.
When he meets Owen, Beru and Cliegg he sees they are indeed nice people and the reason for his mothers suffering is something completely different that they were not able to stop so he doesn´t blame them for her fate. When Anakin lost his mother it was only natural for him to seek a family, someone he could share how he really felt and his secrets, he could not be part of the Lars family but Padme was willing to love him so she became his new confirmed family, right along with Obi-Wan and Ahsoka but while he had to show himself different to them, he didn´t had to do that with Padme, just like he did with his mother.
In the clone wars Anakin shows again this complex view of slavers with Queen Miraj Scintel, the cartoon goes out of it´s way to show she looked at him as pretty property and he didn´t let her forget that and actually it was strongly suggested he may have been raped by her at some point to keep safe Obi-Wan, Rex, Ahsoka as well as the people they wanted to save while he got enough soldiers to stage their rescue. Anakin had a plan the whole time just as he did as a kid so he keep his cool even when he saw another slave choose suicide over keep being under the control of Scintel. Yet in the end when the Queen was killed by Count Dooku Anakin felt sorry for her, he could not help it.
So this mix of rejection/anger/hate/disgust towards slavers mixed with pity/understanding which is something that was part of what made Anakin a good person gets used agaisn´t him in his relationship with Palpatine.
He first shows himself as the father figure Anakin thought he could find in Qui-Gon before he died a better father figure than Watto had been, a father figure that didn´t reject this title like ObiWan did, Palpatine did this to get his trust as a young child and later young adult and then he showed himself as the real sith master he actually was, Palpatine knew that Anakin wasn´t a stranger to be treated as property by people who showed themselves as good advicers or somehow not as bad as others despite their actions. So Anakin´s initial compassion, kindness and understanding for people that abused him is played agaisn´t him to make him fall to the darkside and chain himself again to another worse master who didn´t just seek to use his skills and body but who wanted his soul as well.
And the same reasons why Anakin justified Watto at first when he was a young kid also applied to Palpatine, he may be a sith but he ran the Republic better than those corrupt politicians, he isn´t a perfect Emperor but in Padme´s absence he is better than the alternatives. He isn´t as bad as a master and anyway I deserve this because I fell to the darkside and nobody can come back from that, if he abuses me I got this coming because I choose this and he still teaches me the ways of the force, he rescued me from Mustafar when Obi-Wan left me to die and he didn´t have to, he is all I have left.
So once Anakin´s voice died down Vader was left with many reasons to say to Palpatine "What´s your bidding my master?" because in his mind master isn´t a word that contradicts father and Palpatine became his father in all but name, this makes George´s words about Anakin fatal flaw being the fact he loved too much make complete sense and it´s a tragedy.
