5. Protection

When you wake up it’s the middle of the night and Haymitch is still in your bed, you wrapped in his arms, his face buried in your neck. You don’t dare to move, not just because you are scared he could wake up angry at the enemy but also because the sensation of his lips on your skin is creating butterflies in your stomach.

You get that you are younger and naivé, but in these weeks you knew another side of Haymitch, the strategic, genius side. He is cunning, clever, he is brilliant. You never would’ve thought this situation could make you want him more. 

And gosh, his grip is strong, and he is handsome.  

«I have to go to my room.» He mumbles, half-sleeping. His breath is pure liquor, and you must be so screwed for finding it attractive. 

«I’m more comfortable than your room.» You point out and you indulge yourself stroking his blonde hair. «Am I so insufferable you don’t want to stay with me?» You joke, and since you are awake you move yourself a little, causing a friction with his body. Accidentally, of course. He grunts, you take that as a win.

«You always talk that much in the morning?»

«It’s night.» You can sense he rolls his eyes even if they are closed. He chuckles, but even if his hand is now on your tight and his lips still on your neck, his mind begins to work.

«We took a risk. I could have hurt you, even killed you- you are no match to me. I usually don’t wake up that peacefully.»

«Maybe because you sleep alone.» You open your eyes facing him. His proximity makes you blush, but in a good way. «You helped me. I didn’t have nightmares.»

«I’m glad sweetheart, but this is the last time.» He warns you.

«I like when you call me “Sweetheart”.» You let it slip from your thoughts. «You always called me Daisy in the district.»

«You worked for me in the district.» He gets up, not very firm on his legs - you have no idea if it is because of the liquor or the sleeping, but before he goes away he gives you a little kiss on the cheek. «See you in the morning, sweetheart.»  

     

You are actually happy when you wake up again, alone in your room. You decide not to think about your imminent death but to focus on the training. This is now or never: if you know something you have to use it now. 

You choose a pair of trousers and a simple t-shirt and you go ahead to have breakfast with your team when you recall two voices. Haymitch and Effie are arguing in the dining room. You know you should leave or appear, but this might be vital, so you eavesdrop.

«You two left the party without us last night.» Effie murmurs, clearly not amused. You didn’t think she would’ve cared, she was in her own element. 

«She was tired.» He explains in a dry way. She was having a panic attack, but it’s not an escort’s business. 

«You know, people wanted to talk to her. People wanted her.» What the hell does she mean? Who wanted you? The game-makers? 

«Before the games?» He sounds shocked. 

«They are older, this year.» She sighs. Not a good start.

«Effie you can’t possibly say-»

Even if you weren’t spying on them it would have been hard not to hear Effie’s squeaking voice right now. «It’s for her! They will lose interest in her if they can’t have her.»

«Or they’ll be intrigued.»

«Do you dare to bet on that? Because you are risking Daisy’s life.»

«I’m not selling her, it’s out of discussion.» Selling you. This is what Chaff said to you when you were at the party. People are going to buy you? Is this not an old scary story about Capitol City? Is it true?

«She is not yours!» Her voice cracks. «We’ve had an idea for Katniss and Peeta but I don’t know how we could, how… this year…» She begins to cry. 

«There, there, Effs.» He must be comforting her, because you can’t hear her anymore. «We will find a way.» 

«Find a way for what?» You go out from your hiding place, tears in your eyes.

«Nothing important, darling girl.» Effie tries to dismiss it, but you've had enough of this stuff, them not telling you anything like you were a little girl. You are an adult, twenty-four years old, you had a job before the reaping, a life. They cannot keep you in the dark to protect you. 

«You are crying.» You sound harsh. «Stop lying to me. I have heard you.»

«I don’t know what you think you heard but…» Haymitch begins, but you stop him. 

«You.» You face him, stepping closer, and this time you are angry. «You told me to stay close to you during the party, that you could protect me.»

«I will protect you!» He yells back at you, but you don’t care.

«From who? From Chaff? From the Capitol, from Snow? From the Games? Because I now know that my worst chance is to become a fucking exchange price and my best chance is to die!» 

They are speechless. You calm down a little, heavy-breathing because of the screams, then you take a puff cream on the table and you watch them deadly serious. «Now that I know everything, I will be very grateful if in the future you two decide to tell me the next torture Panem decides for me, since I am a fucking adult.» 

«Daisy-» Effie tries, but you are in no mood for a lecture.

«I’ll be at the training.» 

The first day of training is a nightmare. The other tributes have more skills, especially the careers, and you don’t know anything other than herbs and a bit of medical training. Watching the wall filled with tools, you can see skates, little rocket launchers, blades, any sort of things. Well at least you know how to skate, you chuckle. 

You have to focus on what you can do. You are strong, at least Haymitch told you so. You are still a bit upset that he didn't tell you the truth, but he succeeded with Katniss and Peeta so you better listen to him. You try to lift a big metal ball, and you slowly manage to do it.

«That’s impressive!» 

You turn around, and there’s a brunette girl standing next to you. The first thing you notice about her are the eyes, she has big bright ocean eyes. She is beautiful, you suddenly remember her from the videos of the reapings. 

«I’m Perla.» She greets you with a kind smile. «District 4.» 

To be fair she doesn’t look lethal like the other careers or particularly close to them. «Daisy, District 12.»

«I know, my mentor told me about you, you met him at the parade, right?» Yeah, her mentor must be Finnick Odair, you connect the dots. «He likes you, he proposed an alliance.»

«My mentor didn’t mention it.» 

«I said I wanted to meet you first, but after that? I want you on my team. I'm very good at swimming, you know, and with blades. And I’ve talked with the girl from District 11, she could be in the alliance too- she’s very good with fishnets, her name is Lora.» 

I don't want to kill this girl, you think immediately. She is bright, nice, and you think you could become friends. So maybe an alliance is what you need, it's rare that allies kill each other. You watch Lora, she seems like a nice girl too, her heart-shaped face is so similar to the girl Katniss made a deal with last year, little Rue. Maybe it’s her cousin or older sibling. Definitely younger than you.

You desperately want to go out with these girls, become a group of friends and think this is all a nightmare. But this is your reality now.

«Deal.»

«Deal? Great!» you are surprised by Perla’s reaction. You definitely don't want to kill this girl.

You go back to the penthouse for dinner. Your body is sore and you are very tired, and you don't have the strength for a lecture or a discussion. And you think if you see Clark you'd lost it, so you decide to eat in your room.

After a while you hear a knock on the door.

«It's open.» 

Effie Trinket comes into your room. You feel guilty about this morning, Effie was actually trying to help you the best she could.

«Darling girl…»

«I’m so sorry.» You get up and come to hug her. «We just thought, I don’t even know, that is new for us too. We are used to kids, and for years before Katniss and Peeta I was alone dealing with them because Haymitch didn’t even want to try. You two are adults and it’s… I thought it would be easier, but I knew you, and he cares for you, we wanted to protect you.» 

«I get it.» You place a hand on her shoulder. «But please, explain what the President wants from me.»

She deeply exhales before starting talking, her face is so serious under all that makeup. «When a Victor is considered beautiful or desiderable, President Snow gives them as a reward, or he sells them. It happens to victors, or to… people in the system.» Her voice cracks, and you instantly know why. 

«Effie.» You breathe out and hug her tighter. 

«It happened a long time ago.» She reassures you with a smile, but that doesn’t change anything. «If you don’t want to do something, he has some ways to make sure you’ll do that.»

«Or he kills your family.» Your thoughts go to your mentor, the way the Abernathys died in a fire after his win and his girlfriend soon after.

«When they told me he wanted you to be a reward before the games I panicked, Haymitch would have gotten himself killed and you… I didn’t want your mother involved in this, I didn’t want you to find out so soon.» 

She is clearly in pain right now, and you feel so close to her. You wipe out a tear from her cheek.

«You tried to protect everybody and I am so grateful. You are a special woman, Effie Trinket, I don’t think we realise it when you do something like this but you do it all the time. You try and try to make everything easier. I am sorry for today, and I am grateful we are friends.» 

And if in your room there are cameras, and you are mostly certain there are, Effie Trinket just became a target. 

There is still a person you have to make amends to. After staying a while with Effie, you grab a bottle from the kitchen and knock on your mentor’s door.

He opens it, clearly inebriated but still in control.

«I came bearing gifts.» You try, handing the bottle to him.

When you close the door behind you, you notice that the situation is serious. There are a lot, a lot of bottles on the floor and several pieces of glass, the bed is not made and the air is unbreathable.  

«What the hell?» You watch him, shocked. He shrugs like it’s the most normal thing he can do.

«I’ve had a bad day.» 

«All this in one day?!»

You grab all the bottles on the floor to throw them away and open the window, with a concerned look on your face. You can’t die because you have to babysit him.

«You are still angry.» He notices, barely standing. You guide him through the bed, although you should probably change it before someone could lie down in it, it smells like liquor. To be fair he smells like liquor too. 

«This is a different kind of anger.» This is you being worried. You know he is unstable, screwed up and brilliant, and you get why he became like that, but he is forty-one. He can’t go on like this forever.

«You are hot when you are angry.» He comments, and you can’t help but to blush and giggle a little. If he gets to be irresponsible, you get to be superficial. You like being called hot by the man you have a crush on. 

«Uh, I like you better when you are drunk. Oh- shit.» Throwing away the pieces of glasses you cut yourself. «Shit, I’m sorry.» You stained the bed with blood. Fuck fuck fuck. It hurts like hell.

You get up to clean yourself and the sheets, but he stops you. «I don’t think I have a towel.» 

«It’s ok, we can use paper.» 

«Come here.» He put his lips on your finger, sucking it. You try to act nonchalantly about it, even if you look each other in the eyes for a moment, and in that moment you can swear he wants you too. He watches you like he wants to eat you, like you are his prey. «Still hurts?»

«No.» You whisper, and he sits on the bed again. You follow him. «I wanted to talk about breakfast.»

«I figured.»  

«Effie told me everything.» You quietly begin the speech you prepared. «I don’t want to be left in the dark of what happens anymore. I’m capable of taking care of myself.»  

«That’s my job.» He argues.

«And you are terrific at it. But I needed to know that. What if Snow does something to Holly? To you? I needed to know that. We have to work as a team. Will you promise me you won’t keep me in the dark anymore?» 

«Ok.» He murmurs. 

You take his hand. You will die in a week, do what you want to do and stop being a coward!, you force yourself to think.

«And Effie said something wrong.» Your voice sounds more like a screech and less of a, well, voice.

«Mh?»

«Effie said something wrong.» You repeat, «This morning she said “She is not yours”.» You take the courage to look at him in his blue eyes. «She is wrong. Haymitch.» Cheesy? Definitely. You didn’t think about this part of the speech. 

He snorts. Not kinda the reaction you expected. «Nonsense.»

You feel the embarrassment through your body and if only you had a shovel right now you would bury yourself. «It’s ok you don’t have to, you know, return the feeling it’s just that I’m condemned to certain death so…»

«You don’t have to.» He stops you.

«I don’t have to… what?»

«You just found out about Snow and everything and you think you have to do some shit to survive, but not with me.»

You are shocked and a little offended by his implications. «Fuck off, Abernathy.» You say with a loud voice.

«Uh?» He seems confused, maybe because he is wasted but that doesn’t give him a free pass.

«Fuck off!» You echo. «You think it was easy for me to admit that I have feelings for you? I like you but I know you are an asshole.»   

«Geez, thanks.»  

«No problem.» You cross your arms around your chest and you suddenly want to leave. Leave and cry at the rejection in your bed like a normal 24 years old and not a Hunger Games’s tribute. 

He stops you, grabbing your arm to push you against the closed door. You are dangerously close right now.

«Don’t grab me.» You mouth to him.

«I can do whatever I want if you are mine, can’t I?» He licks his lips. Gosh, how is he irritating and attractive at the same time? There is something in the way he does certain things. 

«That’s not how it works.»

«So you say you have feelings for… this?» He observes the room with an unsure look on his face.

«This is not your best form but, yes. Can you stop making me repeat this? It’s humiliating.» You beg, but he only smiles.

«So that is why you wanted me to sleep with you.» Your face flushes red. «You know I’m a big fat mess.»

«I can confirm it.» You worked for him, you know all his dark sides.

«Mostly drunk, older than you, so… are you fucked in the head?»

Very classy. «Possibly.» You breathe, «But I’m sent to die in a week and I’ve wanted you for a year, so…»

Rowan Fielding - Mayfair Witches

Rowan was born in New Orleans in the 1990s to Deirdre Mayfair, a powerful witch who had been sheltered and abused her entire life, after Deirdre's uncle raped her. Carlotta, Deirdre's aunt, had Rowan taken away at birth and given to a family member to raise after telling Deirdre that the baby had died in some hopes of Rowan never growing into her powers or falling into the grasp the demon who had his claws digging into the entire family but especially Deirdre. Rowan grew up in San Francisco with her adoptive mother under the assumption that she was a normal human despite an incidence in her childhood that told her otherwise.

She eventually became a neurosurgeon who was incredibly confident in her skills as a surgeon despite her boss who seemed to think far less of her. After several instances of killing or nearly killing people in her accidentally with just the power of her mind, Rowan is convinced she has magical powers despite her mother insisting that she doesn't and refusing to let her speak on the matter.

Shortly after, her mother dies at home from cancer and Rowan is left to deal with the aftermath and the trauma. She eventually begins looking into her birth in some attempt to find out more despite her mother's insistence that it was a closed adoption and there was nothing they could do. She quickly finds out that the adoption agency didn't even exist when she was born and has far more questions when she finds herself thrown into a world of witches, demons, and immense amounts of family drama.

Finding companionship in her cousin, Jojo, Rowan finds it easier to process and weave herself into the mess that is her new life. It's certainly not easy by any means, but having someone by her side to explain everything and simply build a friendship with makes everything easier to take in. It certainly isn't helped though when she finds herself falling for the demon, Lasher's, charms and manipulation while equally feeling terrified of he's capable of and, by extension, what she is capable of. Terrified she'll kill again, she tries to get rid of the demon but the ritual is useless and she still finds him attached to her.

Everything comes to a head when Rowan's cousin, Tessa, is kidnapped by witch hunters. While trying to rescue her cousin, Rowan was shot in the head and she was unable to save Tessa from being burned at the stake. When the rest of the family got there, they found both bodies or at least Rowan's as Tessa's was just ashes. Given that Tessa didn't have a viable body, Jojo and the rest of the family were unable to bring her back to life, but they were able to bring back Rowan. Cold, half alive, and minutes back from death, Rowan made it her mission to hunt down the people who killed Tessa. Killing each and every one of them, she cuts off their heads and brought them back to the family like a cat would bring a dead mouse to its owner. Sickened by Rowan's actions, Jojo feels guilt eating at her as she believes bringing her cousin back from the dead had broken something within her.

Having been impregnated by Lasher, Rowan's body is no longer able to carry a child and the half human child activates a fail safe and quickly grows to maturity, quite literally ripping her way out of Rowan's body leaving a blood bath in her wake. With everybody wanting the child for their own purposes, she nearly keeps it for herself as she doesn't see a better option, but the thought of raising it and having to pretend to love it sickens her. Not wanting to traumatize the child with a mother who hates it, but not wanting it to be used for who knows what terrible things and also not wanting to kill it, she entrusts the baby to Jojo as she's come to trust that she wouldn't use or abuse a child for her own gain.

They do however realize that they can use a small amount of the little girl's blood to banish Lasher and prevent him from ever coming into contact with the Mayfair family ever again. In a frantic, dangerous last battle, the family finally comes together to put a stop to the man, bringing them closer than ever.

7. How many ideas for fics do you have right now?

Uhhh, conservative estimate off the top of my head...? About twenty to twenty-five.

11. Do you have specific playlists for writing fics?

I do! If I work on a fic long enough, I make it a playlist so that I can always come back to the moods/feelings/themes of it when I need to write it again. Also, I have a playlist called "lesbian playlist" that I listen to when I need to be in my feelings about women loving women - so when I'm writing femslash.

14. If you could see one of your fics adapted into a visual medium, such as comic or film, which fan fic would you pick?

Oh, that's easy. I would want to see Bloodstains Don't Make It Matter as either a comic or film. If it were a film, I would cast Shay Rudolph to play Stephanie Brown and Ben Affleck to play Bruce Wayne. My preferred Jason Todd is Matthew Daddario, but I kinda think he's getting too old for the role.

23. How do you choose where to end a chapter (if you have multi-chapter works)?

I just kinda...let the chapter tell me where it ends? It has end somewhere that feels like a natural stopping point and also closes off all the significant plot-related points of the chapter. Although, I do love ending on a cliffhanger!

Just finished going through Mayfair Witches cause of it being in the same universe as Interview with the Vampire series and actually thought it was enjoyable enough; but that finale is something else. Spoilers below the cut:

Seriously going to have Rowan hook up with the same being, Lasher, as her mom, even worsening it via the mind-link in episode 2 that involved her mother having sex with him in current time with her experiencing it as well; then swinging into trying to sell Rowan hooking up with him as not squick x10, like wtf? Its potentially poised to only get worse as well since now Lasher is now her son and that's surely not going to lead to any majorly SQUICK territories /sarcasm. I'd have preferred to have the ending minus that entire bit with it being focused on Rowan awakening her witch abilities and opening the "vault" of spells.

Like give Rowan witch powers and a girlfriend. Like you're telling me that someone with Rowan's personality (driven, not exactly following norms, floating between lovers in a non-committing manner, smart, modern, seeking someone kind/caring/gentle) isn't going to be hooking up with both and bi? Even more so with her being a witch where ngl they should all be bi, cause of the free-spirit + rail against authority that dictates heteronormativity aspects. Its like Morrigan (Dragon Age) all over again. Also with it being tied to Interview that wears that LGBT+ element blatantly. It'd solve so many of her problems away from the males in the show that in various ways manipulate and try to control her.

I believe its getting a second season so please let it fix things, assuming its going to continue Rowan's story. Have Rowan revealed in the s1 ending have been under the thrall of Lasher that she then in s2 breaks from and embraces her newfound powers away from him. Rejecting him and the Talamasca to carve her own path that she was doing pre-final episode. Like have her go more Bo (Lost Girl), including if they could work it in; having her powers manifest via glowing irises. Cause the way they do it in s1 is fine, but absolutely not taking advantage of Alexandra Daddario's gorgeous eyes.

CHARACTER BIO

Monty never really got a fair shot at learning how to form connections. From a young age, he had never experienced love from his family and was raised by an ever-changing rotation of nannies. No one stayed around for long and, eventually, Monty decided to give up staying around for long for anyone either. If he had never gotten the courtesy of experiencing that kind of loyalty himself, why should he try to give it in return?

I think most of you know that I’ve had a very, very rough year and I wasn’t emotionally available for what I knew was likely to happen. That is why I remained quiet. For my mental health.

But I’m here to share that I too have had my own stories. My own worries. My own concerns. I would like to add that I did talk to @anna-phora - and gave some of my details to them. I wasn’t ready yesterday.

I hope I’m ready now. Because here goes.

Up until they unfollowed me, I had considered them a friend. I had sheltered them in the past and I couldn’t find a good way to stop, because I had already offered them comfort. I don’t enjoy backstabbing people. I was hoping that with a little nudging, they could be guided in the right direction. So please know that what I’m writing, is VERY HARD for me.

I first met Maddie through ocappreciation. As an admin there, I was the one who ended up doing most of the queuing. (And still try to.) That is where I first ran into the stealing issues.

I believe the first one I noticed was Adrien Argent. I knew I had a friend, who already had a TW OC, with a FC of Matthew Daddario, named Adrian Argent.  I’ll confess at first, I thought it was the same OC. Back then, I tended to bulk queue once a week and I was just trying to get posts in the queue and didn’t much bother to look at the user’s name.

Then someone brought it to ocapp’s attention. I was conflicted, as was the staff at ocapp. We could see both sides. I especially could be both sides, because as someone who had been writing OC fics before - I had been accused of stealing. People accused me of stealing from a HP fic even though the end date on my fic was before their start date. But because someone else’s was more popular - I got targeted. I knew what it was like to be on the other side.

Also early on in my days in the community, I found out that despite not knowing each other nor having crossed paths with @twofacedharveydent that we both had Superntural OCs where the OC was a Winchester sister, nicknamed Elle, both were paired with Cas, both had a connection with angels, and if recall correctly both had Lyndsy Fonseca as a faceclaim. We had a good laugh over it - because when it came down to our written work - our stories were different. We were able to be friends.

I will confess that this has likely skewed my outlook a bit, because I would never intentionally copy off anybody. For me personally, they were always happy little accidents. I think because I had been falsely accused, I wanted to be quick to defend others who might be falsely accused.

. . . back to ocapp. What we decided to do, as a group, was let those authors sort things out. But we (meaning me) were very careful not to reblog anymore Adrien Argent posts. Even this year, I still wouldn’t add them to ocappreciation.

Then came the Riverdale craze. Suddenly there were OCs that appeared to be quite similar. Don’t get me wrong, back then it was hard to find a red-headed female to be an Andrews sister that didn’t overlap. But as a community, I felt that most of us still tried to keep things different enough. Like if we used the same faceclaim, then we made sure our OCs had different personalities and such. Well . . most of us.

Again, being admin at ocapp, I could see similar OCs popping up. But as admins we made a stance of trying to let the creators figure out their stuff out. From all the evidence shown, clearly that didn’t work out.

That being said, there are some cases of their OCs where I haven’t felt completely comfortable with. But I think with me, being a “popular” blog, they knew to twist them just enough - but it was still obvious to me (and some others who brought it to my attention) where the inspiration had come from, because my OCs were usually first. There were a lot of times when I created an OC and then they would. I wasn’t sure whether to feel flattered they wanted to join me or used. It was all very conflicting.

Anastasia Andrews - That OC came out not too long after my Annabelle. They had a lot of similarities. Both were an Andrews sister. Both were crushing on Jughead and depended on him when Archie was in his stuff in the beginning of the show. While Annabelle wrote in a journal her feelings, Anastasia took photographs. While Annabelle was once in gymnastics, but had no team at school, Anastasia was a dancer. Both problems were solved with the River Vixens. Again - I tried to brush it off as concidence, but others noticed and I had no solid response. Because I was used to having my literal writing stolen. 

Elle Winchester - Maddie did ask for the blessing to use the nickname Elle. I had no copyright over a nickname, so I said go for it. The more the merrier. But I always felt a little anxiety whenever I’d see the edits for graphics roll out. My Elle Winchester is one of my more popular OCs I’ve ever written. Again, I tried to be supportive and put on a brave face

Cassia Potter - This one was brought to my attention by several of my followers how they seemed to be a mix of others OCs with my Leila. I’ll confess that I felt that way a bit too - so I usually never ended up putting content for them on my blog, unless it was a chapter update. I tried to make that concession.

Helena Jackson - appeared after my Ophelia. Someone brought it up to me and I brushed it off.

Honestly, this all of this is a HUGE part of the reason I stopped writing for many fandoms that Maddie was in. If I wrote for another fandom, they weren’t active in, I was safer.

I’m sure there are others and more takes, but my brain is already exhausted - because Mother’s Day is hard for me.

I knew that Maddie was ocfanhub and codenamekryptonite because of ocapp. They had sent us asks saying that we were spelling Wynter’s name wrong. And then later we got an ask asking that all Wynter’s stuff be removed from ocapp. This was the time they made the switch. 

To those who were disappointed by my stance on things: I’m sorry. At first I was trying to help a creator who felt picked on. But when the evidence was mounting up, I stopped talking OCs and mostly just talked about real life stuff, because I felt bad about losing them - because I also knew that they probably needed someone. Because the last thing I ever told my mother before she died was “I hate you and I never want to see you again” I never want to burn a bridge with someone.

To Gloria - I don’t know if you’ll see this. But I’m sorry I wasn’t as supportive of you. If you read this at all, I hope you understand that my stance came from being wrongly accused and I wanted to help others - my stance was because for a while, I daily had people coming to me and asking if they could use the same name, or faceclaim, or plot lines that are inevitable in certain fandoms.  It was getting too hard for me to deal with having all those asks, so I made my post - when we seemed to have had our falling out. It was never my intent to hurt you. I was just under a lot of stress and I thought a post would help others. I never meant for it to hurt you. It was meant to help others from being so scared.

I’m sorry for not doing more to help others or help nudge Maddie further. I apologize for my part in the drama. Please know that it wasn’t intentional. It was coming from a sincere part of my heart, as is this message.

Please know that I am here to create for fun and make awesome friends who can support one another. I personally thought I had that with Maddie, but clearly I was wrong.

All I ever wanted was for Maddie to apologize and own up to what they’d done. Or hope that they’d manage to find a compromise with the other creators. As a teacher, that’s what I teach my students and that was what I was hoping for from Maddie. I still want that. I think they’re a wonderful creator and hope that one day they’ll stop burning all these bridges and find their way back. Please don’t send them hate.

I absolutely despise gwynriel’s fake woke activism when it comes to gwyn’s SA. No you don’t care about victims of SA and their healing because you constantly draw your self insert fave in NSFW fan art with your imaginary book boyfriend. Can victims of SA have sexual relationships again? Of course they can, but: has Gwyn ever shown interest in him? has Gwyn ever shown she’d be comfortable in a sexual relationship with him? NO. with any other man? with a woman? NO. In fact, at the end of the book Gwyn goes back to the library, which means that it’s CANON she is not ready. When she is, you can draw all the kinky shit you want. Right now, if you want to use as an excuse that those fanarts are headcanons for when in the future she will be ready and some SA victims are fine with it, that’s good. I’m so glad that this is helping them and they’re comfortable with it. But if other people (SA victims included) point out the VALID reasons as to why those fanarts are problematic and why they make them UNcomfortable, you’re gonna have to shut up and respect it. I’m so done reading those fake woke “SA victims can have sex!! Let them be sexual!! You’re only uncomfortable with gwynriels fanart because you’re an elriel you don’t really care about SA victims” Yes I care. Yes I can’t wait for Gwyn be ready to do whatever he fuck she wants with whom ever she desires. I’m also aware that she’s CANONICALLY not ready for any of that and I’m allowed to dislike gwynriel, gwynriels and their constant sexualization of Gwyn while absolutely agreeing to the fact that YES SA VICTIMS CAN HAVE A SEXUAL LIFE AGAIN.

Literally, NO ONE ever said that Gwyn or someone who experienced SA couldn't like sex, or couldn't fall in love, or enjoy sex. It's the usual 'OMG, look at Elriels, they hate people who went through SA over a ship!!!'

None of them apparently have any issues with Gwyn being put into sexual situations with a guy who doesn't care about her from any romantic standpoint, who canonically lusts and wants another woman, and in whom Gwyn herself showed zero romantic interest. This forced sexual ship is totally fine. SOOooooo ROMANTIC.

But when someone points out that the author chose to have Gwyn return to the Library out of her own volition and that Gwyn and Azriel never displayed even an iota of sexual attraction or romantic interest in each other, and we don't even know if Gwyn likes men, then apparently we hate SA victims??? Okay.

Same people are absolutely fine with putting Elain and Tamlin together, commissioning art about them and saying that it's a ship that 'makes sense' because flowers.

Guess what, Gwyn is is single, totally ready for sex, wants to explore the world and her sexuality. Tamlin is single, well-versed in Calanmai rituals (in which she was ready to participate), likes himself a priestess, a High Lord. So.....what's stopping them from being together? But I suppose that if we start ordering erotic fan art of Gwyn and Tam, the uproar will be all the way to the sky. How dare we put an SA victim with an abuser?! Right?

It's the same people who yell about 'representation', attack artists on Insta and then...cast Matthew Daddario as Azriel.

“They couldn’t even make her blonde”

I remember walking out of the theaters with my friends after seeing the PJO movie when it came out.  We had a million complaints since we were obsessed, but the loudest had to be“And she wasn’t even blonde.” It was such a major complaint when the PJO movies came out that Alexandra Daddario had to dye her hair for Sea of Monsters.  But I feel like her hair wasn’t the problem even if that’s what everyone said.  Daddario just didn’t embody the Annabeth we’d all grown to love.  She was too old, too sure of herself, not witty or harsh in her remarks, and a million other things that fit the vision for the movies but weren’t book accurate.  My friends and I were in middle school couldn’t articulate the many ways she felt foreign to us and instead simply said “Why couldn’t they have at least dyed her hair blond?” as if that would magically fix the more glaring problems we had with the movie.   (Spoiler alert: despite being blonde, she felt even less Annabeth to me in SOM)

I’ve been happy that most of the response I’ve seen to Leah Sava Jeffries has been pure excitement about how she’s going to play the role and what this means for the little black girls meeting Annabeth for the first time.   A short look at Instagram shows me that unfortunately the racists in our fandom are are still alive and well and also please dear god let Jeffries have a strong support system.   But I also saw some complaints that haven’t been hostile or even that mad about casting but more just disappointed that Jeffries’s race is sign that once again the other aspects of Annabeth’s character they love so much just aren’t going to be there “because they couldn’t even make her blonde.”  And after being burned so badly by the movie adaption, I can understand the wariness.

But the point of color blind casting is that the character’s appearance is the least important thing about them.  Rick Riordan has been intimately involved this time in casting and the fact that Jeffries “quickly became my number one choice for Annabeth” makes me absolutely ecstatic to see what she’s planning on doing with the role.  Also her reel on IMDB has her asking to be protected from the monsters and I just about lost it crying because I could see her hunched in a garbage can with her hammer asking Thalia and Luke for that protection. But then her REL stuff makes me laugh so she truly has the range.

And I get that people might need a second to grieve their visions of the character when they don’t match reality.  (Saying goodbye to afro-latino!Percy even when I had all the proof in the world that Walker Scobell was going to match the vibe took a second. It was a moment of reflection for me.  Heck realizing that I hadn’t actually absorbed Luna Lovegood’s description when reading and instead just put myself in the role was a trip).  As long as they don’t mention it to the children cast (and I will throw hands if they do), I can respect that not everyone is going to be super excited from the get go. But I think it’s still important to unpack why Annabeth being blonde is so important and not other things like her sass or her height or any of the other million things that make up Annabeth.  Why is being blond her most important identity trait when all Annabeth ever said was that she hated people underestimating her for her appearance, a trait almost all POC can relate to?

▪Let's start with something simple: Jason is a very possessive and over protective yandere who doesn't fear to kill whoever dares to put themselves between him and you, especially if they're rivals.

▪There's a big difference when it comes to how he'll be with you depending on what state of his life he's in.

•Fresh of out of the Pit Jason will obsess over you for the sole reason that he wants to posses something in order to feel like he has gained some control over his life.

° Jason doesn't love you, you're just an object that he use to feel in control so he will manhandle you and break you as he pleases.

°It's hard for him to realize that what he's doing is wrong and by the time he finally accepts it, you'll probably be death or in a terrible mind state.

°Jason will have succeed in breaking you and he will punish himself about it.

•Arkham Knight Jason see you as a something that he needs to possess in order to feel human and loved again. He almost worships you as a higher being.

°Jason will hold on you in dear life, hoping that your company will make him feel better.

° Jason is more mindful over your needs and what you might feel about him and being held hostage, those thoughts makes him deeply insecure and sick to his stomach. However, Jason can't bring himself to let you go, he needs you.

°He wouldn't hurt you on purpose, but rather will choose to threaten you with breaking all your bones or killing those you love.

°This applies when he's jealous. Jason will pin you up against wall and point a gun at you as he cries and screams why was the cause for you to betray him.

°You always knew Jason was by far more strong than you but having him towering over you in the middle of a breakdown as he waves around a loaded gun is making you panic.

°Jason wouldn't kill you, but he know where to shoot without killing. You're gonna suffer with him if you don't start to give him answers.

°This version of Jason is mentally and emotionally unstable, he's more likely to breakdown and cause chaos since he can't fully control what he's feeling or how to process it.

°Jason might worship you and treat you as if you were made of glass, but he might kill you in one of his anger rampages.

• Red Hood Jason in the other hand is in a better mental place so it's less likely that he'll hurt you out of an emotional decontrol.

° Also there's the fact that, as that his Arkham Knight version, Jason prefers to use threads to keep you under his control rather than physical punishments. However, he'll use them if your being too defiant.

His punishments tend to be: isolation, spanking, making you use a collar shock, etc

°Jason doesn't see you as an object that will make him feel better, he genuinely loves and cares for you.

°He's deeply afraid that something bad will happen to you if he's not there to protect you.

°Jason see you as a defenseless, naive person who needs him to survive. He's gonna be your savior and lover even if you don't want him to.

°Oh don't try to escape, he'll find you pretty easily and drag you back to the safe house as he scolds you for being such a stupid brat. And if someone else was helping you escape? Jason will kill them in front of you to show you a lesson.

°He might nice and caring to you, but Jason doesn't tolerate when a darling talks back or defy him.

He doesn't like a bratty darling since it makes him think you don't trust him enough. Jason truly believes he knows what's better for you, so it's not gonna end well if you question his decisions.

°Might pull up a dirty move to make you stay, like hiring some goons to scare you if you decide to leave him. So Red Hood can come, kill them and be your hero!

°One thing to keep in mind is that all of his version are deeply insecure and touched deprived. They might want to hold you and kiss you, but it's gonna be a long way until they finally don't hesitate to do such thing.

°Their distan and pretty close to you at the same time. This goes more with the Arkham Knight and Red Hood though.

I'm gonna keep talking about the Red Hood version, so keep reading!

▪Jason wants you and will have you, he doesn't care how far he has to go for that to become true.

▪He wants to know every little single detail about you, it doesn't matter if they're insignificant.

▪So he will study you and take notes about your preferences, your weaknesses, what you like and what not and what are those little habits you have so internalized that you don't even notice you make.

▪It will lead to a point that Jason will know you better than you think to know yourself.

▪He will set cameras and a security system in your house and you will notice that Red Hood has been appearing too much near your neighborhood lately...weird.

▪Also the crippling sensation that someone is watching has been being so persistent when you go out.

▪You have tried to calm yourself down saying that it's normal since you live in a city like Gotham, but that doesn't make it any better.

▪Also lately you don't feel alone when you're in your apartment. You don't feel alone at all to be honest and it's creeping you out.

▪And what about this new guy in your life? He looks so mysterious and bad boy-ish, also wow he's pretty damn handsome and easy to talk to! How this guy can be friend of yours!?

▪Yeah, Jason got over his doubts and went out of his way to reach to you and be part of your life (with you knowing this time)

▪There's something we have to address here: at the beginning Jason couldn't accept that what he was doing was wrong. He didn't even want to acknowledge that he was deeply infatuated with you.

▪Jason didn't mean for this crush to go that far and the idea of what he's really doing, looking through the cameras he installed in your room, was making him sick.

▪However, he couldn't be away from you for long, if something happened to you it would drive him crazy, since the idea that you weren't there was enough to make anxiety paralyze his entire body.

▪Jason needs to protect you like he needs to breathe. It's not an option but a vital necessity.

▪What happens is that Jason's mind is torn between the voice that tells him to watch you closely and the one who's screaming at him and begging to stop all of this.

▪ Jason wants to possess you so he can keep the dangerous world away from you, is better than the rational part of his mind that tells him that what he is doing is foolish and will end badly.

▪But to be honest here, Jason doesn't pay much attention to the rational side of his brain unless he has a breakdown since he's more sensitive and open to those sad thoughts.

▪During one of those breakdowns were the main reason why he took you one night after about a month of overthinking every decision he has made so far and the numbing that he might lose you if he doesn't do something drastical.

▪So during a seemingly normal night in Gotham, when the rain soaked everything in it's path and made your warm bed even comfortable than ever, an exalted Red Hood broke into your apartment to kidnap you.

▪He didn't leave any space for doubt, so without hesitation he pricked your neck with a needle and carried to one of his safe houses.

▪Jason feels like he can breath again now that you're on his bed, sleeping fondly thanks to the tranquilizer.

▪You look so beautiful and innocent, it only reassures Jason that what he did was the right thing.

▪You need him to protect you from the horrible things of the world, it's more than obvious that you can't take care of yourself and Jason is more than glad to keep you safe.

▪Yeah, that's all he wants in reality. Jason doesn't give a fuck if you don't love him right away since he have the hope that one day you'll understand and finally accept his love and devotion for you and you'll do the same.

I absolutely agree on everything. They're either a bit too old to play Felicia or just do not fit at all. Tati, Ana, the Felicity Jones actress and Sydney are my fave so far as well. Looking forward seeing Tati and Tom work together in Uncharted 👀👀 one very popular fancast I saw as well is Sabrina Carpenter. I can kind of see it but then again they only fancast her because she's blonde. 😭 It's frustrating. I love Sydney a lot bcs I feel like she's just now getting popular and is only like a year older than Tom so it would fit a lot. But definitely not sure if she would be the perfect role since we haven't seen her as a dark character or morally grey one yk. This last episode of Euphoria definitely shows she has potential. Ana is absolutely beautiful and would not complain seeing her as Felicia😩 honestly kinda would prefer if they'd hire a not very known actress to play her for some reason

So, I watched the first episode of Mayfair Witches.

(Again, I have never read the books so this is a newbie perspective here)

Overall, I liked it... but- ok, let’s start with the positives.

I LOVE the look of this show. Nothing groundbreaking or unique but I love this aesthetic. And the house looks gorgeous.

Alexandra Daddario is clearly putting her all into playing Rowan, which is a huge relief because I cannot sit through another Special and Important Character where the actress has absolutely no bloody personality.

I also appreciated that the writing for the conflicts she had with those two douchebags wasn’t smacking me in the face with a 76-trombone marching band screeching “MEN SUCK! MEN SUCK!” - yes they were douchebags and I’m glad they got what they deserved but I’m also glad the writing didn’t talk down to me like quite a few shows and films do with this subject.

Also the visuals showing what exactly Rowan is doing when she’s using magic is pretty cool, imo.

Um... but here’s my problem... love Alexandra, loved her scenes with the actress playing her mother... but there’s quite a few performances in here that just felt off, to me. I mean, at least they’re not boring but at the same time, I wonder what show they think they’re in- well, duh, a show based on an Anne Rice trilogy. (No, Lasher wasn’t one of them - I’m seeing where book-readers are coming from, but he didn’t bother me that much) So, the tone is a bit wonky because of this. Not awful, just wonky.

With that said, I am engaged enough that I’m curious to see where this story goes. So, while I can’t say I'm completely in love with the show, I don’t hate it either. All in all, I’m intrigued, and I’m going to continue watching.

Batman/Bruce Wayne- Josh Hartnett

Hear me out! So many bigger stars have played Batman and if I'm being honest, only one of them was actually good at it (looking at you, Michael Keaton) Josh isn't as big as some of them and is such an underrated actor. He has range! And he's very handsome. He could easily play the Caped Crusader and would really be dedicated to the role. He was offered the role in Batman Begins years ago, but turned it down due to fear of being pigeonholed, but has actively said he regrets that, so I feel if he was given the chance, he'd absolutely nail it! And he wouldn't have to change his voice too much since he has a naturally deep voice!

Nightwing/Dick Grayson-Dylan O'Brien

Now here's another actor with range! Not only that, but he has proven on many occasions that he can do action scenes despite suffering from Osgood–Schlatter disease. He and Josh have the perfect age gap to match Bruce and Dick perfectly. He also has a very similar build to Dick Grayson and has done enough comedic work that he could pull off Dick's more laid back persona versus the others. Dylan is also a huge comic book fan with his favorites being Spiderman and Batman, that he would know how his character would react naturally to different situations. Plus, Dick Grayson has the best booty in comics and Dylan has the best booty in real life. You can't just let stuff like that slide!

Red Hood/Jason Todd- Matthew Daddario

Okay, so I know that technically he's a couple years older than Dylan, but Matthew would be a great Jason Todd post Lazarus Pit, think about it. Jason died as a teen, but was reintroduced as an adult (22 years old) and was suddenly ripped and shit. Matthew fits that to a tee. Admittedly, I don't know much of his acting besides a few episodes of Shadowhunters and in Delivery Man, but I enjoyed his work in both, and now know he can do action. I do believe he could play a dark and brooding character such as Jason Todd if given the opportunity.

Red Robin/Tim Drake- Lance Lim

Some of you might find this one surprising, but it totally makes sense if you think about it. Let's start off with stature; Lance is 5 ft. 4in., Tim is the smallest built of all the Robins (apart from Damien who is a literal child). He's also on the more slender side, which, again, makes him physically perfect for Tim. While Tim can throw down, he was always more brains than anything and I think Lance could really bring that to life. Next, Lance is also not as well known, but has the potential and the time to grow as an actor and playing Tim Drake would really do that for him since he is not utilized in media as much as Jason or Dick. Hopefully he's also comfortable playing a bisexual character since Tim Drake has been confirmed as bisexual.

Oracle/Barbara Gordan- Emma Stone

I noticed she is a fan favorite, but I really do think she would be perfect. I talked about range a few times, and she's another actor who has that. Barbra is a very smart, sassy feminist type of woman and Emma just gives off those vibes to me. She fits the physical look too. Lean, redheaded, blue/green eyes and is literally only an inch taller than what Barbara is in the comics. She's also close enough in age with Dylan for Babs and Dick's canon relationship to either be current, or part of their past. Her playing Babs would be semi different for her. She did play Gwen Stacy in The Amazing Spiderman, but to be an actual hero rather than just a love interest, I really think would be a huge step up for her. Plus, like I said before, she's a fan favorite and I think that also says a lot.

Catwoman/Selina Kyle- Dania Ramirez

Dania is very familiar with the superhero world due to her being in Heroes and X-MEN 3: The Last Stand. She, like four of the other actors I mentioned, has range. She can be a hero or a villain and that's perfect for Catwoman since she is, in fact, an antihero. Also, I'd like to mention that she has a great body for a catsuit! Since she has done action before, she would have no problem getting into the roll and being dedicated to said roll.

Huntress/Helena Bertinelli- Vanessa Morgan

Tbh, I don't really have an explanation for this one. I just really wanna see her in the roll. I think it could really help skyrocket her into stardom.

Batgirl/Cassandra Cain- Lana Condor

Okay, I know most people want her to come back as Jubilee again, and rightfully so. But I think getting to play Cassandra would be perfect for her. First of all, she's the one who's the most familiar with action and superheroes out of everyone on the list so far with her work in X-MEN: Apocalypse, Deadly Class and Alita: Battle Angel. Cassandra is a character who's a little rough around the edges, but is determined to be a good person and do the right thing considering she was raised around assassins and was trained to be one, with how much there is to unload there, I think Lana's got this in the bag.

Spoiler/Stephanie Brown- Chloë Grace Moretz

I swear this girl was born to play action roles! She literally trained with Jackie Chan and his crew to play Hit Girl, and still keeps up with it. She's also close enough in age to match with Lance for a canon relationship. Stephanie wouldn't be all that different from Hit Girl, but she would be playing someone with a more positive outlook on life and I definitely think she could pull it off.

The Signal/Duke Thomas- Chosen Jacobs

Okay, so I've only seen him in the It franchise, but I feel like with him being so young, not only could he pull off the roll, it'll also give him a chance to really widen his range as an actor. He still looks young enough to play Duke as well.

on january 16th, 1988 Marcos and Ophelia Romano welcomed a healthy baby boy. he was a surprise at first since the doctors had gotten it wrong as they were prepared for a girl but when he had graced the world with his presence his parents were over the moon.

benjamin was quite the handful growing up. he was constantly getting into trouble starting as soon as he could walk and talk. his parents tried to find things for their toddler to get into but nothing seemed to keep his focus until one day his dad turned on a race and benji sat still watching with his dad.

he got into kart racing when he was younger always wanting to be the top racer of his age group and found himself dreaming of doing something with the sport whether it be working on the cars or being an actual racer he knew his goal was to some day race alongside his hero’s 

His mother never wanted him to actually get into racing to begin with because of all the hazards it could cost but he always promised he’d be okay but at 18 he became one of the youngest racers to enter the f1 grid. He worked his ass off for everything he’s gained 

When he was 29 and on winter break an ex hookup of his came knocking on his door and when he opened the door all she did was pass over the sleeping baby and said ‘I’m sorry I didn’t tell you but I can’t do this’ and left leaving both benji and Amelia behind without a second glance. His whole world turned upside down in that moment and he had no idea what to do but when he looked into the baby’s eyes he vowed to let nothing happen to her. 

He became the ultimate girl dad but he also didn’t want to give up on his career so he brought his family on the road with him, parents and all to make it work and he thinks he’s done an okay job so far. But now that Amelia is five years old he’s thinking about settling down and taking a break from his dreams to be the best he can be

Benji is pretty much a grumpy sunshine he can have that look of fuck off but he would easily ask you to please leave him alone. He’s also really protective of his family and closest friends. They could ask anything of him and he’d drop everything to take care of them (unless he had to be at a dance recital for Amelia she always comes first in his books)

He’s currently on winter break but he’s also trying to make the big decision of retiring after the next season.
