Stockholm Metro: World’s Longest Art Exhibit
Kungsträdgården Station
Kungsträdgården, translated as ”Royal Garden” or ”The King’s Garden”, was opened in 1977. The station is a representation of the old French garden above. Kungsträdgården is one of Stockholm’s oldest public parks. Almost everything in the station represents the qualities of the site above the ground with its colors and drawings. Also, uniquely, the station is the only place in Northern Europe where the cave-dwelling spider (Lessertia dentichelis) can be found. The station is also the deepest of the Stockholm metro lines.

IT IS ALL ABOUT SCIENCE, MATH, ART INSTALLATIONS AND CRAFTSMANSHIP Working mostly with knitting and felting, @knotunknot ’s work ranges from community art installations and interdisciplinary collaborations with pieces often rooted in science, mathematics and science fiction. This STOCKHOLM bag was shot in the underground station at Kungsträdgården. A station with its own animal life, notable for its unique flora and fauna. It is the only place in Scandinavia where the "Lessertia dentichelis" spider can be found and where the moss growing on the walls previously thought to be extinct. A team of scientists conducting a survey of the metro's wildlife in 2016, that later discovered two previously unknown species of fungi covering the station walls. Upon closer analysis the fungi turned out to be from a previously unknown genus, with unique DNA compositions. What a fitting place it was to shoot this bag here...!
