For Mina, she would definitely be a crab-eating fox. While for Roxie, I think she would be a mix of a lowland streaked tenrec and a lower hedgehog tenrec.

For Roxie’s music taste, while the most obvious options would be stuff like Mitski and Girl in Red, I think that she would also listen to Tame Impala, Vundabar, bōa, and The Breeders.

Lesser hedgehog tenrec

Echinops telfairi

Family tenrecidae, order Afrosoricida, superorder Afrotheria (the elephants, sengis, manatees, aardvarks, and hyraxes)

These guys bear an uncanny resemblance to another African animal: the four toed hedgehog.

But four toed hedgehog’s are in an entirely different clade! Laurasiatheria, like pangolins, cats, dogs, moles, deer, and rhinos.

All tenrecs have a cloaca like reptiles, so these guys only have one hole to excrete waste.

They’re terrestrial and spend the day curled up sleeping under leaves, logs and anything else they can hide under. If it’s really hot, they sleep splayed out.

They eat insects and sometimes small vertebrates. They forage alone with the exception of mothers foraging with young.

They’ve become common exotic pets. I’ve held one before.

These guys are in a relatively new proposed clade: Afroinsectiphilia. These guys are afrotherians that were thought to be in Insectivora, which is not considered a legitimate group anymore.

the choker charm on sonic is his staff (amy made it for him) and with the staff he can alter his appearance, and thats how he turns into Hoax. straight up magical girl poof into that form. its all appearance based, nothing about his personality changes his name is hoax bc the form is deception, and tenrecs are called lesser hedgehogs (bc theyre not really hedgehogs) hes just lying. he is a hedgehog, so his name just boils down to Fake the Fake Hedgehog as for who knows- no one besides Amy and Tails since they helped design hoax like a mfing oc <3 hfhjdjg later on some people figure it out like knuckles n rouge but specifically shadow doesnt know lol, poor dumbass (when they made their blood deal, hoax didnt know shadow was the guy in the vulture mask either so they both kinda played themselves) i !!! hope things helps dfgjjfd i really need to update my pinned fhgdjg and i will!! eventually

Some things I'd like to happen to/for Surge the Tenrec.

Fight with, and concurrently talk with, Blaze the Cat - Blaze has been where Surge is: Fought Sonic and lost due to lesser experience despite being equally powerful. Blaze has gotten plenty of experience since and would absolutely wreck Surge. HOWEVER, I see it as being a good learning experience for Surge. She'd be pissed about losing but would reflect on the fight and incorporate what she learned into her next fight with Sonic, becoming a bigger threat.

Fight Shadow the Hedgehog - Shadow is so full of himself that he probably wouldn't even register Surge's taunts, but also so full of himself that he'd let his guard down enough (even after what happened in the Metal Virus saga) that he'd get full-on decked in the face at least twice. It would only be at that point that Shadow would resolve to go all-out... but by the time he gets back up after being decked and having an internal monologue, Surge would've gotten bored and left to do something else. Shadow would fume over it for days.

Get a turn with the Chaos Emeralds to go Super Surge...

...BUT only do it once and instead develop her own unique Super Mode a la Burning Blaze (Shocking Surge, Surging Surge, Static Surge etc).

Get a crush on, and later date with, Amy Rose.

Develop an entirely game-based rivalry with Whisper the Wolf. They don't physically battle often (even if Surge becomes a full villain again) but they compete constantly. Tangle the Lemur is extremely uncomfortable with the entire situation.

Spend any time with Rouge the Bat. Rouge would play Surge like a cheap kazoo.

I think it’s funny to think that Sonic actually IS a tenrec but bc they’re way lesser known than hedgehogs and so similar, he never learned what a tenrec was and just assumed he was a hedgehog

Are we sure the animal in the video is a lesser hedgehog tenrec? The proportions of the face and body do not look like they’re the same species or even a tenrec at all.

They’ve got large ears and quills, yes, but their eyes are much smaller eyes and a longer body (and snout) than the animal in the video.

The subject of the video appears to be a North African hedgehog or possibly a long-eared hedgehog.
