Down the aisle | Leslie Shay x Firefighter!Reader
Where you and Shay go from girlfriend's to wives
Chicago Fire masterlist | Words: 1.6k
-----
“Kelly Severide, stop laughing at me.” Shay said in frustration. “Why? It’s funny that you have something bad to say about every beautiful ring you see.” Her best friend had been with her in the jewellery store for the past hour, not to mention that it was the fourth jewellery store they had visited in the past week.
“The ring has to be perfect, Kelly.” He shook his head, “I know, but at this pace there aren’t going to be any rings left in the world. That girl is head over heels for you, and will say yes no matter what ring you pick. “Still I want it to be perfect.”
They kept looking around at the ring collection this store had until Shay’s eyes fell on the one. “Oh my god, that’s it. That is the ring!” Kelly celebrated quietly behind Shay’s back. He loved his best friend dearly, but was also glad that he would finally be spending his days off somewhere other than in a jewellery store.
For Shay it had been easy to keep her thoughts of wanting to ask for your hand in marriage, but now that she had something physical to do it with, she was anxious you would find out. She had given Kelly the ring for safekeeping, but still she knew that she wouldn’t be able to keep the plan a secret for much longer. So, she changed her original plan a little bit, and decided she was going to ask you on your next date night.
Since you both worked 24 hour shifts at the firehouse, you made sure that you made time for each other on your hours off. One of the things you did to reassure you would have some time set aside was a set date night. It really didn’t matter what you did, the only thing that mattered is that you did it together.
Today’s date night, you went to the Field Museum of Natural History. They had a dinosaur section, which is exactly why Shay wanted to bring you here. You loved dinosaurs and learning more about them. You thought the museum was amazing, and were running around showing her things like an excited little kid.
When you got back home, you were still talking about the dinosaurs. So much so that you didn’t realise the set up of your living room. Shay looked around, very happy with how her idea had played out. She had asked Kelly and Dawson to set up the “Will you marry me?” sign surrounded by a rose petal heart. It looked absolutely perfect, now you just had to look around.
The moment that you did, time stood still. You looked at the setup in front of you with your jaw dropped, and eyes widened in surprise. When you turn to look at your girlfriend, she is down on one knee and holds out an open ring box towards you. “Yes, yes, yes!” You say with tears in your eyes.
“You're not even going to let me ask the question?” She giggles with tears in her own eyes from your excitement. “Oops?” You laugh back. “Please ask me, darling.”
With a big smile on her face, Shay holds your hand. “You are my best friend, and I want to spend the rest of my life by your side. Y/n Y/l/n, will you marry me?”
You're now both full on crying, but in the best way. “Yes, I will definitely marry you!” You fall into her arms and sob happy tears into each other's shoulders.
The rest of the evening was spent in the comfort of your home and each other's arms. It wasn't until the next day that you told people about your engagement. Shay sent Severide a picture with the text “She said yes!” He congratulated the both of you and invited you for a drink at Molly's.
Of course, you should have expected the whole team to be waiting for you inside of Molly’s as you arrived. All of them yelling out “Surprise!” When you walked through the door. It was nice celebrating this step in your relationship with the people closest to you, the people that had become your family over the years.
The next day where the team was back at work, the room buzzed with energy. Everyone was excited about the engagement, and was asking all kinds of questions about your plans for the wedding. Above all else, they were thrilled that the couple they had seen grow over the years, was taking the next step together.
Your day started off calm, but as soon as that first bell rang, you knew it wouldn’t be stopping any time soon. As you expected, the calls began to pile up, and the intensity grew. A handful of car accidents, a heart attack victim, and a kitchen fire kept you busy in just the morning.
There was just enough time to have some lunch, before the bells rang again. All units were called to respond to the scene, so you knew this was going to be a serious one.
A multi-story building had caught fire, and people were still trapped inside. You rushed into truck 81 and your team raced to the scene. When you got there you realised just how far gone the building was. Flames were shooting out the windows, and thick dark clouds of smoke hung around the tall frame of the building.
Without hesitation, you all sprang into action. “Y/l/n, you’re going up with me. The rest help Squad.” You put on your mask and ran inside, following close behind Casey. When you got up to the fire floor, there was no time for second-guessing, you had to go before the building would collapse.
The heat and the thick smoke combined, made it hard to see anything at all. Yet you kept yelling out, until finally you heard voices respond. A family of four was hiding in the bathroom, as most of the room was engulfed in flames.
You and Casey worked together to get the trapped family into the hall. You stood in the middle of the room, helping them over the flames, while Casey got them into the hallway. The moment that the family was out in the hallway, the ceiling about you gave way.
One of the beams came crashing down, and pinned you to the floor. “Go, get downstairs!” Casey shouted to the family. The safest for them was to head down and meet another firefighter there, he didn’t want more of the ceiling to collapse while the family was still there.
“Mayday mayday, firefighter down on the sixth floor.” He radio’s in while he makes his way to you. Seconds after Shay’s voice is heard over the radio. “Casey, is y/n okay?” He doesn’t answer, as he doesn’t know the answer himself yet.
“Casey, come in.” Boden requested as the line was still quiet from your end. “Getting to her now. The ceiling collapsed and she’s trapped under a beam. She’s conscious, but I need help getting it off of her.”
You were conscious and talking to Casey while he was trying to pull the beam off himself, without any luck. Luckily more people arrived to aid him, very quickly. With many hands, cribbing, and the right tools, they were able to get you out from underneath the weight of the beam quickly.
When you got outside, one arm over Casey’s shoulders and the other over Severides, you finally felt like you could breathe again. Shay ran into your arms. “Are you okay? Let me check you out, please, I need to make sure that you’re okay.” You lift your arms from the boys and hold onto your fianceé. “I’m okay, just going to be really sore tomorrow.”
“I thought I lost you.” You shake your head. “You’re not getting rid of me that easily.” You joke, but you were well aware of how the situation could have ended. “Life is too short. I don’t want to waste any time.” Shay was quick to chime in, “You don’t have to convince me, let’s get married as fast as we can.”
After a long and exhausting shift, the team got together for a small firehouse wedding. It was just quickly thrown together, but you had all you needed. Your bride and your family surrounding you.
Severide walked Shay down the makeshift aisle, while you were standing in the doors of the apparatus floor with Casey by your side. He was like a brother to you, so there was not even a question on your mind when Shay asked you who you would want to walk you down the aisle. “Are you ready?” He says as he watches your eyes meet Shay’s. “I’ve never been more ready for something in my life.”
You met Shay between Truck 81 and Ambulance 61, a small touch to give even more meaning to this day. Boden stood between you, who better to officiate your wedding than the man that had been like a father figure to the both of you.
The ceremony, while simple, was perfect. It was a day neither one of you would ever forget. After you had said your I do’s and sealed your marriage with a kiss, you carried Shay inside bridal style.
While the day may be over, your shift was not. But for now the team would rest, and hope to be recharged enough when the next bell rang. For you the day was perfect, just because you had Shay by your side for the rest of your life.

drunk & disorderly (alternate ending) (Kelly Severide x Reader)
Synopsis: Your alcoholic father shows up at the firehouse, persistent on making amends.
Warnings: Mentions of alcohol abuse, violence, swearing, Kelly being protective AF <3.
Word Count: 2.7k
*This is an alternate ending for one of my imagines: drunk & disorderly. They can be read separately and in interchangeable order. Link to my master list."
“Shay, we are never drinking that much the night before a shift again. I’m so hungover” you groaned, throwing your head back in exasperation in the passenger seat of the ambulance. You were returning to the station after the first call of the day, and the pounding of your temples was exacerbated with every bump in the road.
“Oh c’mon, Y/N, we can handle a lil hangover” she said jokingly. “Besides, wasn’t that drinking game fun?” She asked in a suggestive tone while wiggling her eyebrows.
“I’m not sure, I can’t exactly remember last night’s events” you giggled, trying to rack your brain for a hint as to how the evening played out.
“Well, what I remember extremely vividly is you and Severide not being able to stop flirting with each other,” Shay said this without taking her eyes off of the road, but you knew she wasn’t as annoyed as she was making herself out to be. She loved the idea of the 2 people she loved the most being together.
“I can’t confirm or deny my actions or the events that occurred last night” you led in a serious note, trying to cover up your schoolgirl crush on Severide in a playful manner.
“Oh, just fuck him already! Blame it on the alcohol!” Shay encouraged, using her hands to help communicate the message. “I know you like him, and who’s to say he doesn’t want you?” she questioned.
“I’m not sure Shay, you would know the most given the fact that you live with him, wouldn’t you? Has he said anything to you??” Turning your entire torso towards her, you suddenly become very invested in the conversation. You had made comments to Shay about how hot Severide is, but you’ve never fully expressed your interest in him.
“My lawyer says no further comment” Shay responds, zipping the imaginary zipper on her lips and throwing away the key.
“Oh come on, Shay!! Help a girl out” you moaned in defeat, crossing your arms in front of your chest despite knowing that what the 2 roommates were discussing was private.
Shay was the person who got you and Kelly close to begin with. Being that you and she were ambulance partners, you went over to their place often, seeing him just as much as you see her.
“He may or may not have said some things about you, but that’s all I can say!” Shay spat out the sentence, picking up the speed as it went on as if the faster she said it, the less of a chance Kelly was to somehow find out.
“Oh, this conversation is NOT over" you responded. You weren’t ready to drop the topic anytime soon, but you had arrived back at the firehouse.
Before you could pester her with further interrogations, you saw a figure as she was pulling into the ambulance bay.
“Who is that?” Shay exclaimed, confused that someone was blocking her.
You squinted your eyes, confident that they were playing tricks on you based on who you were perceiving to be there. Once Shay had driven as close as she could without running them over, you knew your eyes were not deceiving you.
“My dad” you spat angrily, upset that this was your current reality; that a member of your toxic family had followed you to the one good thing in your life.
You were both frozen in the ambulance; you, unsure how to avoid this interaction, and Shay, confused as to how she could help you.
You got out of the ambulance and began making your way inside, pretending that your dad was an invisible man and that his presence had no effect on you. Shay followed suit.
When you walked past him you heard him scoff, and he threw his hands up in the air, resembling confusion.
“You’re just gonna walk past me. No ‘Hi dad, how are you? Long time no see.’” You couldn’t believe what you just heard, but once you partially processed it, you decided that this was indeed your battle to pick today.
You had moved to Chicago from Toronto after applying to the academy, deciding that between your narcissistic and emotionally abusive mother, and your alcoholic dad, it was time to leave; not to run away, but to survive.
Your older brother is a firefighter in Toronto, and you easily could’ve gotten a job at his firehouse, but you had always loved Chicago and decided to bite the bullet.
“You have some nerve.” Slowly turning around to face him, you tried to keep yourself from seeing red. He didn’t deserve to know he got a reaction from you. “Showing up at my place of work unexpectedly and expecting me to give you the time of day.”
“I just want to talk, Y/N.” You started hysterically laughing once you heard what he had said, the anger presenting itself through laughter. Your father was confused as to why you were reacting this way, and quite frankly, so was Shay. She had never seen you so upset.
“Get out of my firehouse. You don’t deserve to be here.”You pointed towards the street, urging him to get out of your sight.
“Y/N just hear me out. I know I don’t deserve it but it’s been so long and I just want to be a part of your life again. Things are different now.” The pounding in your head was starting to become excruciatingly unbearable the further this conversation continued.
You could hear the sounds of squad and truck rumbling down the street and you knew that you needed him to leave before the entire house got back.
“Yeah, things sure as hell are different, I left before I suffocated and you couldn’t give a rat’s ass where I ended up. Until today, a random Saturday morning 2 YEARS after I spoke to you last. I want you to leave, NOW. Don’t make me escalate this situation.” You were sick of people walking all over you- blood-related or not, and you weren’t going to have any of this. Especially not in front of your 51 family.
By the time you finished your spiel, truck and squad were both parked and beginning to filter out, undressing from their turnover gear.
Severide hopped out, pulling his turnover gear down to his waist. He was wearing his lieutenant shirt with suspenders, and his squad 3 baseball cap. He would make subtle glances over, not wanting to make the fact that he was eavesdropping obvious.
“I’m not going anywhere until you decide to give me another chance. Until you let me make things up to you” he pleaded, reeking of desperation.
At this point, heads were turning to observe the interaction.
“I gave you one too many chances, and I’m done. I’m not sure how you didn’t get the hint that I wanted nothing to do with you when I moved countries, but I’m now verbally letting you know that this relationship is over.” You had thought about simply walking into the firehouse but you didn’t want to risk finding out whether he had the gall to follow you.
At this point, a few members of 51 had filtered into the lounge, knowing that they probably weren’t meant to be listening to the conversation. Others took their sweet time getting undressed to keep an eye on the situation.
Severide was especially lingering, always having an urge to protect you against harm’s way. He didn’t know much about the situation given that you kept your past secretive, but knowing how abusive fathers can be, he stood near.
“C’mon, Y/N, you’ve always been so damn stubborn. Do you need to act like this when I’m trying to prove to you that I can be better?” Your dad was genuinely curious as to how you could be so cutthroat towards him as if his drinking didn’t ruin the first 2 decades of your life.
“I don’t think you need to prove anything to her. It’s pretty clear you’re not a part of her life and that she wants it to stay that way.” You didn’t expect to hear Kelly’s voice from behind you all of a sudden.
“Kel, it’s okay. I got this.” You felt torn between wanting him to stand up for you and telling him you can fight your own battles. He stepped closer toward you, and Shay took a couple of steps back, knowing you now had extra protection.
“And who are you?” your father asked, not breaking eye contact with you. His hands were placed on his hips, and by his body language, it was evident that he was not leaving without a fight.
“Lieutenant Severide of 51, and respectfully, I’m asking you to leave my firehouse” Severide stated in a calm but straightforward manner. He crossed his arms and waited intently.
Your dad chuckled in what seemed to be astonishment while shifting his eye contact repeatedly from you to Severide. “Sleeping your way to the top; very typical of you Y/N. I thought you would’ve changed your ways by now” your dad scoffed.
You were beyond pissed off that he was even here right now, but that comment officially made your blood boil. Thinking about what you could say in response, your dad decided to speak up once again.
“Let me ask you, how long have you been fucking my daughter, lieutenant?” He said the last word as if it was dirty.
Kelly stepped right up to him as if he had no fears, something you wish you could’ve warned him about before doing. You were grateful your dad appeared to be sober because if he hadn’t, a brawl would’ve already broken out between them.
“Y/N has been nothing but a talented and competent paramedic with a great amount of expertise in her field. She‘s proven time and time again that she’s a necessary addition to this team, and deserves to be a part of this family- she did that all by herself, no thanks to you. Now get out of my firehouse before the chief gets back and escalates this even further.”
You were blown away by Severide’s words, unaware of his thoughts regarding your presence at 51. He managed to respond in a professional yet serious manner, and he did it with ease, seeming completely unbothered by confrontation. The two men were still face to face, and Kelly was not ready to back down for nothing and no one.
“Whatever.” Your dad hadn’t let Kelly escape his gaze for even a millisecond. “You know, maybe I’d have a bone to pick if I came here out of my own free will. This was just part of my 12 steps. Step 9: Make amends” your dad said with a smirk.
Despite not wanting to hear your father out for anything he had to say, the fact that he was here for his benefit and not out of sincerity was your final straw.
It took you a second to even fathom the possibility that he came here for selfish reasons, but once you did, you couldn’t stop yourself.
You lunged at him and began unleashing. “FUCK YOU, YOU PIECE OF SHIT!” Now you solely saw red. While you were attempting to physically release all of your pain onto him, you felt Severide grab onto your waist and rip you off.
Your arms and legs were still thrashing about, despite him being far from your grasp. “Come here, get off of him. It’s okay.” Severide attempted to console you, but you were furious.
“Y/N! Enough, he’s not worth it!!!” You heard Shay shouting from behind you.
Once Severide planted you back on the floor, and you adjusted the stray hairs that had fallen all over your face, you began to catch your breath.
“What the hell’s going on?” Casey shouted from across the apparatus, walking over with his arms out in question. “Is everything okay?” He glanced between Severide - who looked like he was about to punch a wall, his jaw clenched - and you.
“Nothing, he’s just leaving,” you said while trying to slow your breathing and resist the urge to fight once again.
Your father must’ve thought Casey was the chief because he put his arms up in surrender and turned on his heels.
You abruptly turned around and raced your way into quarters as fast as you could, not comprehending what just happened.
Kelly put his hands on his hips, hanging his head low and then glanced back up toward Shay and Casey while squinting. He knew what it was like when family troubles came into the firehouse, so he felt for you. He didn’t like to see you upset, even though his feelings for you hadn’t been confessed.
“Who was that?” Casey asked, looking between Shay and Severide as if the answer lay between them.
Meanwhile, you rushed through the doors between the apparatus bay and the inside of the firehouse heading straight for the bathroom.
Everyone sitting in the lounge immediately shot a glance toward you but didn’t interrupt- you were evidently on a mission, the anger you felt putting a fire under your ass.
You entered the closest stall and closed the lid, taking a seat. The second you did so, the tears automatically began to flow, anger quickly evolving into sadness.
You heard light taps on the stall, not even realizing someone had walked in. “Y/N?” None other than Severide.
“I’m good Kel, I promise. I’ll be out soon” you said, trying to keep your voice from quivering. You didn’t want the man you had a crush on to think you’re a damsel in distress who needs saving.
“Let me in, Y/N. Please.” You think he meant this literally and figuratively. He knew you were lying through your teeth when you said you were okay. “If you don’t want me to come in that’s fine, I’ll stand outside the door, but I’m not leaving you by yourself.” The door jolted and you could tell he was leaning against it, making himself comfortable.
You knew he wasn’t going to leave, given his stubborn character, so you dried up your tears as best as you could with 1-ply toilet paper and unlocked the door.
He stood up and turned around to face you noticing that your eyes were puffy and your face was red.
Kneeling between your legs, he looked up at you grabbing a hold of your chin.
“Are you okay?” He asked intently, scanning your face for any hints of distress.
“I just wasn’t expecting it, Kel. 51 is my only family and I don’t want him to jeopardize that…” Severide urgently nodded in agreement, a sympathetic look on his face. “He won’t” he stated matter o’factly. “I’ll make sure of it.” He was determined to keep you away from your father.
“I’m worried he’s gonna turn back up here, or worse, get you in trouble. It’s not worth you going to the review board because my idiot father reported what happened.” You looked down at him through wet eyelashes, upset that you indirectly put him in this situation.
“He was the unwanted visitor at the firehouse, and everyone can vouch for that. It’s his word against multiple others.” You nodded in hesitant agreement, not fully convinced by his statement.
“Stay at Shay and I’s for a couple of days, maybe reach out to your brother and see if he knew about him coming here. Or if you wanna stay home, I could get Jay to assign a covert car to your street.” Severide offering you options and comforting you is what you didn’t know you needed.
He looked up at you, glancing between each of your eyes while you attempted to make a decision.
“Yeah, I’ll stay with you both. If that’s okay” you responded, sniffling the leftover snot in your nose after finally calming down. Just being in his presence lowered your blood pressure.
He nodded his head. “You good to go back out?” He slowly got up and held out his hand for you to take.
“Thank you, Kel, seriously.” As soon as you stood up, you engulfed him in a hug, the combination of his natural scent and cologne flooding your nostrils.
He rubbed your back up and down, his chin resting on the top of your head. He kissed your head then said, “Don’t sweat it, sweetheart.”

TRUE COLORS - BRIAN "OTIS" ZVONECEK
'Cause my boy Otis deserves better
Summary:When you spend your time at 51, you draw Otis on the sly. Everyone notices it, except him. Until fate gets in the way
Word Count: 2.5 k
Maybe it's the way he moves his hands. Maybe it's how he moves the dark curls from his face. Maybe it's the way he wrinkles his nose when he's tired after the shift and starts working at Molly's, tirelessly.
Or it's the way he writes, with his head slightly tilted to the left.
It could be just the way the light fits between his features and makes him pure, bringing out his light skin stained by many small moles. Perhaps it's his dark eyes.
You really don't know. You just can't help but drawing him.
You'd like to draw his eyes after you've seen them even closer and realized how deep they really are, because you're sure they are, more than anything else in the world. Or, again, maybe it's the way he curls his lips as he smiles.
It's probably all together and he doesn't even realize it while a few meters away you're crouched on a chair, in a corner of the 51, almost invisible and your hand moves over a sheet and captures his image, without mistakes or smudges. You could be drawing Brian with your eyes closed by now.
"Are you still here?" Your half-sister, Leslie, asks, noticing you. You've been spending a lot of time at the 51 lately (and equally at the Molly's) officially because you're soon to be Boden's new secretary, secondly to spend time with Lesley. What you didn't expect was to find yourself spending most of your free time observing Brian, scribbling his face here and there, forcing yourself from time to time to portray other colleagues as well so as not to arouse suspicion. "Let me work Lesl" You reply, letting the pen run across the paper noisily. "Our Little Artist" Kelly teases you, ruffling your hair.
"When will you set up an exhibition with our portraits?" Herman asks, chuckling. "That wouldn't be a bad idea you know" Mills replies, winking. "Think about it y/n" You smile uneasily.
"I should find better models" You reply as Cruz and Otis - Brian - shake their heads. "Listen to the nonsense" Your eyes meet and you smile at him and he reciprocates before the siren of the imminent call forces him to leave. You sigh.
He fascinates you just like he torments you, you long for him and at the same time you are afraid to get to know him better. There's something sweet, genuine about him and you admire his courage and his work, but at the same time you're terrified because deep down what do you have to offer? What can make you interesting to him? You're just a failed student who needs to work here to make some money, a failed artist who has lost her inspiration, who can't help her sister in a difficult moment, who didn't get a degree, who can't control the emotions.
"You never color it" Boden has noticed one day, admiring your drawings. "I think it would ruin it" You have replied. The truth is that you are convinced that to do this, especially when it comes to Brian, you should need to see the color gradations of his skin, his face, his freckles or his eyes. It is incorrect to portray a subject and complete it inaccurately. You will use color on his drawings when and if you can see him at very close range. Closer than the Molly's counter or the 51. For now you settle for pencil or pen.
Sometimes you dwell too much on his well-defined lips. It's one of the parts you like to draw the most, after the eyes. Then you look at the finished drawing and wonder if you are experiencing something that will never happen, or not experiencing it at all. And with every call they come back with wounded expressions from a difficult intervention and some new scar on the body or the soul ans you wonder if it really makes sense to waste all this time.
It must be said : fate works in a curious way at times.
You're -again- drawing Brian, he's wearing his uniform and he's approaching the truck laughing with Mouch. The 51 is quieter than usual today and there are few calls, an unusual thing but you don't mind. You smile when Brian turns to face you and pretend to be focusing on someone else, momentarily terrified that he will think you're crazy. You place your pen on the table in front of you, tie your hair into a spooky ponytail, then start over with the care you reserve for important things. Brian sighs, turning back in your direction, Mouch's hand on his shoulder as he shakes his head repeatedly. You wonder what they're talking about, you get the distinct feeling that it's you, and you feel your heart pounding in your chest.
Stupid little girl.
" Someone has a crush" it's a voice behind you. The worst voice you could hear in this situation: Joe Cruz. Brian's best friend, roommate, his other half.
"Of all of us Otis? Why?" Cruz sits across from you, a hand under his chin and an inquisitive expression on his face that does not hide his happy grin. And you're terrified, now there's no way Brian won't know about it now. "I don't have a crush. I draw all of you Cruz" you reply, trying to hide the blush on your cheeks.
"Yeah sure. You draw me once in a while, once of Herman, maybe three times of Kelly because it's particularly handsome, but I'm sure most of them are about Otis." You shake your head.
"What makes you think that?"
"I've been watching you Little Shay. You know, it's pretty obvious. You're not as good as you think at hiding." You open your eyes suddenly and feel your face get hot with embarrassment. Brian's eyes are still fixed on you and this with Cruz's words short-circuit you.
"If I were you I'd make a move" You need some fresh air. You get up and head for the exit, forgetting the notebook with your drawings on the table in a hurry.
When you come back for it, an hour and two cigarettes later, it's gone.
Two days, seven hours and a new notebook later, your half-sister has abandoned you at Molly's, a beer in front of you to finish and the light chatter of the last remaining customers. Someone sits next to you and lets their chair clatter to the floor. You don't turn around and stay focused on the beer because you know all too well who's next to you. Your senses alert, your heart furious. Brian.
"It's amazing" the voice is warm, but slightly high in pitch and secretly insecure. You shrug. "Thank you" you reply. Your brain is so muddy that you don't even wonder what it's referring to
"This is yours" now you look up and you see it. Brian's hand just reaching out to give you back the notebook. You stare at him dumbfounded. You admire the way the light falls on his face, how he smiled lightly and the lips you've always drawn so carefully, even more beautiful at that non-distance. For several seconds you don't say anything, but you stay still to study him, to study his colors, his embarrassed, sweet expression. Everything seems to stop to you.
"Otis, can you close?" Question Herman before leaving the pub, making you awaken and ashamed at the same time, realizing what you're getting into. You take the notebook without saying a word and start to get up and leave, but the boy's hand stops you, gently grabbing you by the wrist. It is soft, despite the hard work his skin is not rough. His warm skin seems to burn yours, leaving invisible marks.
You look at his fingers wrapped around your wrist, then at him, his dark eyes still fixed on you. He lets you go slowly, almost reluctant to break the contactn and you realize that he has the power to make you sit back, without saying a word.
"Sorry," you say sheepishly, looking away and letting your hair fall in front of your face to cover the blush on your cheeks.
"You shouldn't apologize" He replies, continuing to observe you. You feel his hand approaching your face, his fingers lingering near your hair, and you know what he's about to do, and you wish he would. You would like to him slowly pull your hair back, put it behind your ear, to let his big fingers slide against your skin and you would like to tilt your head to one side, to let yourself go to that contact. But he doesn't.
After a few moments he pulls his hand away, thinking maybe he's going too far.
Sure, your notebook is filled with portraits of him, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything.
"You're good" He whispers. "You're really good little Shay, you shouldn't waste such a talent." You just smile, let a sheepish chuckle leave your lips. Brian doesn't say it, but he feels like he's never heard a better sound in his life. He wonders how he didn't notice it before. Of course, as soon as you arrived at 51 he immediately set his sights on you, but he never really did it with an intention: partly because you are Shay's little sister, partly because he never thought he had any chance despite what Cruz said.
In short, Cruz doesn't always have brilliant intuitions when it comes to women.
Maybe Dawson's jokes could have enlightened him, sure, but anyway...Brian has never been a phenomenon with girls, in a barracks full of men like Kelly Severide why would you have to look at him? And instead you looked at him all the time, drew him so much that it filled entire pages, tracing his features with a pen and making him look much more handsome, bold, courageous, appreciable than he probably was. Because you see him this way.
"At first I didn't know whether to come to you or keep the notebook," he admits. "Then I thought it was a good excuse to talk to you."
"You don't need an excuse to talk to me Brian" you answers automatically, without thinking. He smiles, feels his heart melt in his chest. Hardly anyone calls him Brian, especially at the station.
"I needed to find the courage" he murmurs, clearing his throat. "It's easy in the barracks, between one joke and another but talking... I mean for real... It is different. Especially with someone like you"
"Someone like me?" you raise an eyebrow as he smiles. He is impossibly beautiful as his cheeks turn pink.
"An interesting girl, a curious one. An artist y/n"
"You're the only one who thinks of me like that. Artist."
He shakes his head. "That's not true, we all think so and if you start showing your drawings the whole world would do it" You shyly grab his hand which is still on the table.
"Thank you, you don't know how much this means to me." He hold yours back and intertwines his fingers with yours. He seems made to hold your hand, he seems born to grab you, to keep you close. And you wonder if hugging him gives the same effect, if even his lips are made to kiss yours.
"Listen, y / n ...." he takes on a serious tone of voice and you almost worry.
"Why have you never colored me? I mean, do you see me in black and white somehow? Does my aura tell you something? I'm not an artist, so I don't really know how these things work, but it scared me to death. Do you see me in any strange way?" he looks nervous
"Is that what worries you?"
"What else should?"
"I mean you find the notebook of someone who drew you too many times to count and you're worried about the fact that I don't color you?" you use a hint of sarcasm, realizing this confuses you.
Part of you feared there would be a different reaction, not anger knowing Otis, but at least a detachment, a rebuke. Anyone else would have been upset, but not him, he seems happy. He studies you carefully.
"You think I haven't seen you?" Your eyes widen and total silence envelops you. "What?" You're the one who doesn't understand now.
"Do you really think I haven't noticed that you spent your time looking at me and drawing me?" he shakes his head, amused by your shocked expression "You've been going on like this for months, aren't you going to pretend that you don't believe me?"
"I..." You can't say more. He laughs and you look at him, and then start laughing , because Brian has written "liar" on his forehead. "No, you didn't understand a damn thing my dear Brian" You retort.
"Oh I don't, but Cruz does. It was just hard to believe"
"And why?"
Brian doesn't answer, he caresses his goatee thoughtfully and you understand that you won't get the truth. Not yet. "Because you're beautiful y/n, people like you fly too many meters higher then me. In short..."
"I've looked at you from the start, Brian." You confess, this time without shame, your will to make him happy is stronger than any embarrassment. You know he needs to know it, to realize his value, for once to be the protagonist, the hero of your story, of your drawings, of your life. Him and no one else.
When silence returns, he turns to you again.
"So? Why didn't you color me?"
"I've never colored you because... I had to see you up close, really close, to be able to color you the way I want" you simply reply and he opens his mouth to say something, but he can't formulate anything, not when you continue. "Modigliani painted empty eyes, without pupils, because he couldn't paint what he didn't know: the souls of the people he was portraying. He only painted those of his partner Jeanne. I suppose it's the same for me. I can't color you without knowing the your true colors, without knowing what undertone your skin is or the paths that the veins form on your body."
Without realizing it, you've started to run your fingertip along his wrist, where the vein pulsates under the skin.
"Do you think." His voice is hoarse, scratched with emotion and excitement. "Do you think you'll give me the chance to let you find out?" He asks shyly. You nod with a slight smile.
"Are you asking me out Brian?"
"I'm asking you for dinner, then let's see what happens."
"Only one?"
"Maybe more than one"

Fireside Romance 18+
Request: I just love the very present Kelly spam on your blog too much that I'm gonna send in an idea as well ! My bday is on the weekend, but I feel bad for all the other request before me. So you don't need to do it right now ❤️
Maybe something where you're just new at Firehouse 51 and Shays new partner on 61, and also hers and Kelly's new roommate. He wasn't happy about that in the first place but after he gets to know you he can't think of a better person to live with and you 3 get really close friends. One time you're alone with Kelly, when your nasty ex finds out where you live and shows up. As Kelly opens the door your ex starts making a scene about another guy living with you, but Kelly gets into protective mode and takes care of the situation not letting him near you and making him leave again fast. Then he sees you being a bit overwhelmed by the situation so he hugs you immediately and you relax into his arms, feeling butterflies all inside you, that he stood up for you and that adding to your already present crush on him. Taking advantage of the situation you kiss him, which he returns and somehow you end up in his bed where Shay later finds you both cuddled up together naked and she fist bumps herself cause she knew that would happen and she'll mock you first thing in the morning about that? 🤭
Omg I'm so sorry it's so long !!!!
Pairings: Kelly Severide x Paramedic!Reader
Warnings: angst, domestic abuse done by OC, drinking, fluff, smut, swearing
Masterlist
A/N: @talesofreading and @imagine-all-the-fandoms I hope you're prepared for some Kelly Severide smut.....
A/N 2: Happy 6 month belated birthday! So sorry it is so late!
Leslie Shay has been your long-time best friend, like so long that you both would consider each other sisters. She was the one to push you to go to school to become a paramedic, you had shown that you were capable and you loved helping people. She was a few years older than you so she had already been through the schooling and had been at 51 longer than you. After you finished your schooling and went through the fire academy you were placed with Firehouse 51 as a paramedic with Shay and to say you both were beyond excited was an understatement. You quickly made friends with everyone on the team including Kelly Severide when you went in to meet everyone.
When you were placed at Firehouse 51 as a paramedic you were in a seriously bad relationship but you had a place to stay but that was about to quickly change. You just started working there a week ago when your living situation was no more. Shay and you had talked about it and how abusive your boyfriend was. You wanted to break up with him and move out but had nowhere to go until she suggested you move in with Kelly and her. She promised that she would talk to Kelly about it and let you know, you thanked her profusely.
You had just gotten off work but stayed behind while the others went off to Molly’s because there was some paperwork stuff that needed to be taken care of with HR so by the time you were out of there you were getting home late. As you were driving home you ran into some traffic which made you even more late and that made you nervous. You tried calling your boyfriend, Taylor Hadley, but it went straight to voicemail and you left them but knew he would never listen to them but you still gave some sort of notification. You finally pulled into your apartment complex and walked into the building and took the elevator to your floor. When it dinged and you got out and started to walk towards your apartment everything was silent and that scared you. You took your key out and unlocked the door and was immediately met with the smell of alcohol and there was Taylor leaning against the wall arms crossed with a bottle of Jack Daniels in his hand. “Where the fuck were you?” He asked in a demanding tone.
“I was down at the firehouse filling out some paperwork. I told you I was doing that this morning.” You said
“No, the fuck you didn’t.” He growled out and then threw the bottle at your head which had you ducking but the glass shattered and nicked you and the rest of the contents went everywhere and on to you.
“You’ve been drinking. I did tell you this morning.” You said not daring to move.
“No, the reason you’re so late is because you’re cheating on me!” He said, stalking closer to you.
“No no I wasn't, I swear. I was at the firehouse. You can call down there and ask them.” You said as he was face to face with you. He didn’t say anything but instead slapped you hard across the face, he was strong so it sent you crashing into the side table. Tears sprang to your eyes as you braced yourself on the table.
“You fucking bitch! Always fucking lying to me!” He growled out and grabbed you by your hair. You grabbed his hands and then threw you into the floor. Tears fell down your face.
“I’m not lying. I swear. I would never cheat on you like you do to me.” You said and that was a mistake and you knew it was a mistake and you wished you could take it back. His foot came in contact with your ribs and you could feel a couple of them break. You tried to protect yourself but that just made it worse. He was grabbing you by the hair again and bringing you to your feet. You were out of breath and you couldn’t catch it. He made a fist and punched you and blood instantly started to pour out of your nose, which meant that he broke it. He grabbed your throat and your airway was instantly cut off and he just continued to squeeze until you were almost blacking out. He backed you up in a glass cabinet and it shattered on contact and you could feel glass digging into you. He laid a few more punches into you and then he was throwing you down on the ground one more time and the air rushed back to you but it didn’t last long because he was kicking you in the stomach.
“Stupid bitch!” He yelled out and then he was storming out of the apartment leaving you there bleeding and crying. You pulled yourself up and steadied yourself on the wall until you got to your purse and then you were falling down on the ground with your purse. You pulled out your phone and dialed 911 as you were starting to fade in and out of unconsciousness.
“911 what is your emergency?” The dispatcher asked.
“My boyfriend just attacked me.” You slurred
“Is he there now?” They asked again.
“No, he he stormed out. He’s been drinking. He slammed me into glass, punched me several times, kicked me in the ribs and stomach. I’m bleeding a lot. I need help.” You said and you told your name, address, and the name of your boyfriend and then you were passing out.
*******************
“What do you think about adding a roommate?” Shay asked Kelly as they were sitting down on the couch.
“Why would we need a roommate?” He asked
“Well, rent is going up and having another person would help with that and help. Also, groceries are going up and having a third person splitting it would help too.” She said
“We don’t need a roommate; we have everything under control.” He said he liked his space but having a third person might help out. She didn’t get a reply because her phone was ringing and she was quick to pull out and she frowned and Kelly took notice of this. “Everything ok?” He asked.
“Med is calling me.” She said and she was quick to answer it.
“Shay, it’s Maggie. A Y/N Y/L/N was just brought in and you were listed as her ICE number in her phone.” Maggie Lockwood said
“Is she alright?” Shay asked, already getting up and rushing to grab everything she needed.
“No. She came in unconscious and that is all I can tell you until you get here.” Maggie said
“I’ll be down there as quick as I can be.” She said
“We’ll see when you get down here.” Maggie said and then they were hanging up.
“Everything ok?” Kelly asked
“No, Y/N is at Med.” She said, slipping her coat on and grabbing her keys.
“Y/N, the new paramedic that just started working there a week ago?” Kelly asked
“Yes, I got to go.” Shay said and was rushing off leaving Kelly there at the apartment alone.
Shay got to the hospital in record time and was parking and rushing in. She ran up to the receptionist desk and was about to start asking where you were but the voice of Will Halstead quickly called out her name “Shay.” He said and she looked up and he was waving her over.
“Will what the fuck happened?” She asked and he was guiding her to your room. He didn’t say anything as he stopped outside of your room and she looked through the window and saw you and her heart broke she turned to Will.
“She was brought in with multiple lacerations, a broken nose, several broken ribs, internal bleeding which we had to go in and fix which we just got down with, and she also had strangulation marks around her neck. It was bad. We almost lost her once on the table. I had to get Jay involved.” Will said and Shay was speechless. It was so bad that he had to get his brother, Jay Halstead, involved.
“Do they have anything?” She asked
“No, they are waiting for her to wake up to get more information.” He said and Shay nodded. “If anything happens or if she wakes up. Let a nurse know and I will be down here.” He said and she nodded and then he was patting her on the shoulder and leaving. She walked into your room and pulled up a chair and sat down.
“What the hell happened?” She asked, sighing not expecting an answer. She took your appearance in.
*********
The next time you were coming to you were in a hospital with blinding lights shining down in your eyes. You squinted and tried to move but everything hurt and tears sprang to your eyes. “Hey don’t move. You had some pretty serious surgery.” A familiar voice said and you opened your eyes to find Shay there sitting next to your bed.
“Shay?” You asked in a hoarse voice.
“Hey, it’s ok.” She said getting up and leaning over you, blocking the light and pressing the call button. The nurse came on and she told them that you were awake.
“What happened?” You asked and she smiled sadly at you.
“I was going to ask you the same things. What do you remember?” She asked
“I remember coming home late from the station working on some HR stuff. I was late. He was drinking and started yelling and I was defending myself and he didn’t like that and then he was getting violent.” You said straining to remember. Just then Will was coming in along with Jay and Hailey Upton and Dr. Daniel Charles, you didn’t know him.
“Hey, Y/N. How are you feeling?” Will asked
“Sore.” You said and he smiled.
“You had a pretty big surgery.” He said “Jay and Hailey have some questions for you. Dr. Charles is here in support as well.” He added.
“Hi, I’m Dr. Charles and I’m the physicists here.” He said
“You don’t have to tell us anything. You also don’t have to have anybody in her while he questions you.” Jay said and you nodded.
“I’m ok with everyone in the room.” You said and everyone smiled.
“Remember you don’t have to answer these. You also have every right to stop the questioning if you get overwhelmed.” Hailey said and you nodded.
“Do you remember what happened?” Jay asked and you nodded.
“Yes, I do.” You said
“As best as you can tell us what happened.” Hailey said and you looked at Shay and she smiled and nodded at you giving you an encouraging nod.
“I was down at the fire station working on some paperwork for HR by the time I left it was late. As I was driving home, I got caught in traffic. I tried to call Taylor on my phone through Bluetooth when I was stopped at a red light. He didn’t answer so I left a message.” You said and took a deep breath and started getting tensed and the heart monitor started to rise and Dr. Charles took notice of this.
“Do you want to take a break?” Dr. Charles asked and you shook your head.
“No. I’m ok. Do I have to tell you the exact word for word he said?” You asked
“No, you don’t have to but you can if you want. It would help.” Hailey said
“He asked me “Where the fuck were you?” in a demanding tone. I told him that I was down at the firehouse filling out some paperwork. I told him that morning.” You said. He said no growled “No the fuck you didn’t.” He then threw the bottle at my head which had I ducked but the glass shattered and nicked me and the alcohol went everywhere and on me.” You said
“Which would explain the smell of alcohol.” Will said and you nodded and then continued.
“I told him that he had been drinking and that I did tell him this morning.” You said. “He accused me of cheating and that was the reason I was late. He stalked closer to me. I told him no that I wasn't and that I swear. I told him I was at the firehouse. I told him that he could call down there and ask them.” You said “He didn’t say anything but instead slapped me hard across the face, it sent me crashing into the side table. I remember tears sprang to my eyes as I braced myself on the table. He yelled “You fucking bitch! Always fucking lying to me!” and grabbed me by my hair. I grabbed his hands and then he threw me into the floor. Tears fell down my face. I told him “I’m not lying. I swear. I would never cheat on you like you do to me.” I knew that was a mistake and I wished you could take it back. His foot came in contact with my ribs and I could feel a couple of them break.” You said and Will nodded confirming this. I remember trying to protect myself but that just made it worse. He was grabbing me by the hair again and bringing me to my feet. I remember being out of breath and I couldn’t catch it. He made a fist and punched me. I remember the blood instantly started to pour out of my nose. He grabbed my throat and my airway was instantly cut off and he just continued to squeeze until I was almost blacking out. He backed me up in a glass cabinet and it shattered on contact and I could feel glass digging into you. He laid a few more punches into me and then he threw me down on the ground one more time and the air rushed back to me because he let go of my throat but it didn’t last long because he was kicking me in the stomach.” You said and again Will nodded.
“Which would cause internal bleeding and cause you have to have surgery. It ruptured your kidney and it had to be removed.” Will said and Jay nodded as he wrote that down.
“Are you good to continue?” Dr. Charles asked and you nodded.
“I remember him yelling “Stupid bitch!” Then he stormed out of the apartment leaving me there bleeding and crying. I remember pulling myself up and steadying myself on the wall until I got to my purse and then I fell down on the ground with it. I remember pulling my phone and dialing 911. I told them everything while starting to fade in and out of unconsciousness.” You finished and Dr. Charles was smiling.
“That was very good. Most domestic abuse patients wouldn’t want to give up their significant other.” He said
“He’s been doing it for 4 years.” You whispered
“Do you mind if we take pictures?” Jay asked
“I don’t mind. I only want Hailey and Shay.” You said and they nodded and everyone else walked out of the room. She took the pictures quickly and then they were welcomed back in.
“We will put this man away.” Hailey said and you nodded and then they were leaving and now it was just Will, Shay, and Dr. Charles with you. Will and Dr. Charles talked to you a little more and then they were leaving.
“Do you have a place to stay?” Shay asked and you were silent and shrugged.
“I don’t know.” You said
“I will talk to Kelly.” She said and you nodded. She stayed for a few more minutes and then she was leaving bidding you a goodbye.
*********
When Shay arrived home, she was determined to move you in. When she got into the apartment Kelly was just plating food. “Hey.” He said looking up and seeing her.
“Hey.” She said
“Is Y/N ok?” He asked
“No.” She said as he handed her a plate of food.
“What happened?” He asked
“Her boyfriend beat her up pretty badly. Bad enough to land her in the hospital.” She said and Kelly was actually mad. “I know you said you didn’t want a roommate but she has nowhere else to go. We have the extra room and she can make the payments.” Shay said and Kelly sighed he didn’t want a roommate but he couldn’t let you go back to that situation
“You’re right I don’t want a roommate but I can’t leave someone homeless or going back to a bad situation. She can move in.” He said and she sighed and hugged him after she put her plate down and he was fixing his.
“Thank you so much.” She said, the next time she saw you she told you that Kelly agreed and you were so grateful. You gave them the key and they went to pick your stuff up. It wasn’t much and that actually saddened them both.
2 days before you got out of the hospital Jay and Hailey were coming in and telling you that your boyfriend, now ex, had been arrested and that he had been charged with domestic abuse and DUI. They had strong evidence against him.
When you got out and to your new apartment your stuff had been put in the extra bedroom. Shay helped you unpack and once everything was done you joined them in the living room. “Thank you for letting me move in.” You said mostly to Kelly.
“I’m so glad to have you here.” Shay said
“You’re welcome.” Kelly said not sounding too enthusiastic but you took it.
*********
3 months into living with them, Kelly had been getting to know you more and you doing just the little things and some big things helped and that made him slowly getting into having you as a roommate. He was also falling in love with you and you were falling in love with him too.
*
1 month
It started out with you replacing everything that was low on stock into a month of living with them. You noticed that most of Kelly’s stuff was low so you, being a good roommate, stocked up on his stuff more and just stuff in the apartment in general. You were also having weekly sessions with Dr. Charles and weren’t there to see Kelly’s face when he noticed that everything of his and Shay’s stuff and some stuff that was hard to find like his and Shay’s favorite coffee creamer.
Kelly and Shay had just got off work and it was a rough shift. You had taken a personal day off of your three-day shift and it was approved especially after what happened. You were at the hospital having an appointment with Dr. Charles. Kelly stormed in with Shay walking in behind him. The apartment smelled nice and it felt warm like a home. This shocked them both and they looked at each other then they saw the note: “Hey, guys I’m going to be gone for a few hours. Don’t wait up for me. I have some stuff I need to get off my chest.”
“I’m going to take a shower.” Kelly murmured and Shay nodded as he walked into his bathroom, he noticed that fresh towels were hung up and when he looked into the shower, he noticed that his favorite shampoo and body wash were restocked. “How? It is so hard to find this.” He asked himself as he picked up the bottle. Kelly was slowly starting to come around to having a roommate but he wasn’t yet fully convinced. When Kelly had gotten out of the shower and changed, he heard laughter in the living room. He went out to see what was going on, he saw that you and Shay were on the couch laughing. You were laughing and turned your head to find him standing there and you smiled at him.
“Hey, Kelly.” You said smiling at him.
“Hey, you have a good session with Dr. Charles?” He asked and you smiled at him and nodded as he walked in and sat on the chair beside the couch.
“I did. I was having a hard time with something about Taylor and it was stopping me from doing things” You said and he nodded and then you got to talking again but one question was on his mind when the current conversation came to an end he decided to ask the question.
“I have a question for you.” Kelly said and you turned to him and smiled and nodded as a go ahead. “I noticed that our stuff was stocked and some of the stuff is hard to find. How did you find it?” He asked and you smiled at him.
“I found them at this really small shop. They only carry the hard-to-find things. I’ve actually been looking for months around places and when I find them, I buy everything and then I found this place and boom there it was.” You explained and he nodded.
“While we are asking questions. What did you do to make it smell so good in here? We couldn’t get that musty smell out of here.” Shay asked
“I used to clean a lot and while I was off, I deep cleaned. I also got some plugins and plugged them in the high traffic places. I wasn’t going to get a candle warmer because too many fires happen with those.” You said and they both nodded. Kelly couldn’t help falling further in love with you and how good of a roommate you were being.
*
2 months
The three of you were at work and for once it wasn’t busy. Everyone was doing their own thing and even though the three of you were together at home you three were alone together at work. Rent was coming up and you wanting to be a good roommate actually went ahead and paid it all. “I haven’t noticed that the rent bill hasn’t come.” Kelly said.
“You know I’ve noticed that too.” Shay said and you were being quiet and they noticed this. “Have you noticed it too?” Shay asked.
“I paid it.” You said taking a sip of your hot chocolate.
“What?” They both asked and you nodded.
“Yes, I paid it. I wanted to show you how much I appreciated you guys letting me live with you so I went ahead and paid it all.” You said looking at your roommates.
“Y/N you didn’t have to do that.” Kelly said “We are roommates, we pay for the bills and food equally.” He said and Shay nodded.
“I know but I wanted to do it.” You said now feeling guilty for it. “I’m sorry, it won’t happen again.” You said feeling guilty. You felt so guilty that you decided to just leave feeling like they were angry at you and the look on your face broke Kelly he wasn’t trying to be mean he was just surprised. He and Shay looked at each other.
“Did I just make her upset?” He asked
“I think we both did.” She said
“I’ll go find her.” Kelly said and she nodded.
“Ok.” She said she was going to offer to go with him but she knew that he liked you and maybe this would help you both get closer to each other. So, Kelly went on the search for you, he checked everywhere and couldn’t find you until he decided to check outside and there, he found you sitting on the firetrucks bumper that had been moved out to be cleaned.
“Y/N.” Kelly said when he saw you and you looked up at him and you looked terrified and he hated that. “We didn’t mean to make it sound like we were mad at you. We were just surprised.” He said and you nodded. “Why did you do it? I’m curious.” He asked.
“I wanted to show my appreciation for you both letting me move in with you. I can afford it.” You said
“I’m not saying you can't. We appreciate it but we’re roommates and we split everything.” He said and you nodded.
“I know. It’s just how I was raised.” You said
“How so?” He asked and then you were moving so he could sit and he did.
“Believe it or not I come from a wealthy family. We get along great and the way we show appreciation. When someone finds out I have money whether it be male or female they either want to be my friend and use me for money or date me for my money and then they show their true colors.” You said and he nodded and listened and as he was talking to you, he was falling in love with you and as a roommate. You two talked until the bell was ringing.
*
3 months
By the third month of you living with them Kelly was 100% ok with having you as a roommate. He was also 100% ready to take it to the next level with you and he was planning to ask you out soon but that and among other things happened so much quicker. Since you moved in you cut all ties with Taylor and you thought he would be gone for good and that he was in jail but apparently had gotten out and you were shocked when you heard the news but he didn’t know where you lived, at least you didn’t think he did. You also had a restraining order against him.
It was just you and Kelly at the apartment since Shay had a date and was going to be gone for the rest of the evening until the morning. You and Kelly had been lounging on the couch when there was a knock on the door “Stay put. I got it.” He said getting up and walking to the door as you paused the show that you two were currently watching. You heard the door open “Can I help you?” Kelly asked.
“Oh, so she’s already moved in with another guy? It’s only been three months.” The familiar voice of none other than your ex-boyfriend, Taylor Hadley, sounded and you froze. You were quick to get up and go to the door but stopped far enough away but Taylor could see you.
“You need to leave.” Kelly said
“No, I came back for what is rightfully mine.” He growled out and that made Kelly’s blood boil.
“She is not yours anymore. You need to leave.” He said blocking the entrance way. Kelly was a lot bigger than Taylor and he could easily take him down with one push. Taylor seemed to move on from Kelly and focused his attention on you.
“You’re such a fucking bitch. Sleeping with every guy you come across, especially that cop that arrested me. I’m going to teach you a lesson for cheating on me.” He said and tried to come in but was met with a wall of Kelly and he was quickly pushing him out. Throughout the whole deal you were as silent as you could be quickly becoming overwhelmed with his presence.
“It’s time for you to fucking leave. You’re not welcome here.” He said and pushed him out into the hallway and shut the door quickly and locked it. He pulled out his phone and made a quick text to Jay. Kelly turned to look at you and you were wide eyed and staring straight ahead and shaking slightly. He was quick to walk over to you and take you into his arms hugging you. “Hey, it’s ok. I got you.” He said into your ear and you hugged him back. After being in his arms for a few minutes you pulled away slightly and that caused him to look at you. You both stared into each other’s eyes and suddenly you were leaning in and kissing him. At first, he was frozen shocked but very quickly got over that and kissed you with so much passion that the only time you broke apart was when you needed air. Both out of breath you stared at each other and his eyes were hungry and he was quickly kissing you again and picking you up which made you squeal into his mouth and then he started moving towards his bedroom. You both kissed each hungrily, teeth clashing with each other tongues battling for dominance. As he entered his room and shut the door to where it was only a crack.
Kelly walked to his bed and when he was there, he slowly laid you down on the bed and was overing your body with his broad one. The heat was quickly rising but you didn’t want to stop. Clothes were quickly shed until you were both nude in front of each other. He went back to kissing you and you could feel his erection on your thigh. Kelly ran his hands up and down your body and his kisses trailed to your neck where you leaned it to the side moaning. “I love you.” You moaned out and he stopped and looked at you and that made you look at him.
“Seriously?” He asked and you nodded.
“Seriously.” You said and smiled and kissed you hard.
“I love you too.” He said when he broke the kiss. He brought his cock to the entrance and once it was seated there, he slowly eased himself into you and you moaned welcoming the stretch. It was painful at first but it soon turned into pleasure. He was bigger in length and girth than any of your exs, especially Taylor.
“Fuck you’re so big. Stretching me so well. I always imagined being in bed with you and how big you were but you exceeded my expectations.” You said and he smirked into your neck.
“I’m glad I could exceed those expectations.” He said and he started to move which made you moan.
“Oh fuck!” You yelled out in pleasure.
“You’re taking me so well. Squeezing me so tight.” He moaned and in turn you squeezed him and he groaned. “Keep doing that and I won’t last long.” He growled out and that sent shivers, good shivers, up your spine. “You’re my good girl.” He moaned out and that made you wet. As he thrusted into you and made you see stars, in a good way, each time he moved inside you made you fall in love with him more and that familiar knot started to grow. Nails dug into his arms which were holding his broad body up from crushing you.
“You’re making me feel so good, Kels. Don’t stop.” You moaned and he smirked.
“I don’t plan on it. Not now. Not ever.” He said and thrusted into you.
“Please go faster.” You moaned
“Your wish is my command.” He said and picked up his pace and that just brought more pleasure to you.
“Oh fuck! I’m close, Baby. So, close!” You yelled out and he didn’t care that you were being loud he wanted to let everyone hear he was the one making you feel this good.
“Who is making you feel this good?” He asked
“You.” You moaned
“Say my name.” He growled out.
“Kelly! Kelly is making me feel good!” You screamed out and he smirked.
“Damn right. Are you going to be my good girl and come for me?” He asked
“Yes!” You moaned out loudly as he brought one hand to your clit, leaving him resting his body weight on hand which was not a problem for him, and started to rub it vigorously which sent waves of pleasure throughout you.
“Come for me, Sweetheart.” He said and as he spoke and that added pressure on your clit did you in and that knot exploded and you were coming hard and squeezed him tightly.
“Oh fuck!” You yelled out as you came and he was close behind you painting your walls white with his cum. Both of you were sweaty and out of breath as he slowly and gently pulled out of you as he pulled back the covers. He pulled them up and you shimmed under them and he laid them over your naked bodies. You cuddled into him, face in his chest and he wrapped his arms around you. “I meant when I said I loved you. I have fallen in love with you over these 3 months.” You said he searched his face as he smiled.
“I’ve fallen in love with you romantically and as a roommate over these 3 months too. To be honest I didn’t want a roommate but having you as one has been perfect. I want you to be my girlfriend and take you out on a date.” He said and you smiled.
“I would love that. Although we skipped some steps.” You said chuckling and he chuckled too.
“We did but it was worth it.” He said and you smiled and nodded.
“Definitely was.” You said and yawned.
“Get some sleep. I’ll be here in the morning.” He said and you nodded and you closed your eyes and fell to sleep. As soon as he felt you breathe even out and that is when he allowed himself to fall asleep.
The next morning Shay was rolling into the apartment early and was confused when she didn’t hear the two of you up and her eyebrows furrowed. So, she went on a mission to find out where the two of you were. Both vehicles were here and you both clearly weren’t in the kitchen, dining room, living room, and she couldn’t imagine why you both would be in her room but she checked anyway. She then checked your room and the both of you weren’t there. A smile grew on her face as she was starting to pieces as there was one last room to check. The door was cracked and she silently opened it and there the two of you were naked cuddled together sound to sleep and she was overcome with joy. She backed out moving the door back to where it was beforehand and made her hand into a fist and fist bumped the air. All along she wanted you to move and the two of you fall in love and after 3 months it happened. She made her way to the kitchen and started to make coffee.
You were slowly waking up and at first confused as to where you were and who was holding you but you quickly remembered and smiled at the memories that came flooding back from last night. You looked at the peaceful look on Kelly’s face and slowly leaned up and kissed his lips and he squinted in his sleep but he was slowly waking up. He cracked his eyes open to find you smiling at him. “Good morning.” You whispered.
“Good morning.” He replied in a gruff voice, smiling.
“Last night was wonderful. I never knew sex could feel so good.” You said and he kissed you.
“I will make you feel good every night for as long as you let me.” He said and you smiled.
“Please.” You said
“Gladly. Want some pancakes?” He asked and you nodded as your stomach growled.
“Yes.” You said and he kissed you one more time before he was getting up and pulling on his boxers and sweatpants and you admired his god-like body and then you were rolling out of bed and pulling on your underwear and grabbing Kelly’s discarded t-shirt that came down to your thighs and covered everything. Kelly watched you the entire time.
“You look good in my shirt. You should wear my clothes all the time.” He said and you smiled.
“As long as you will let me.” You said and he smiled and then you two kissed each other and headed out of the living room and into the kitchen. As you were nearing the kitchen bacon was heard sizzling and as you walked in there was Shay fixing breakfast.
Good morning love birds. Have a good night last night?” She said smirking and you blushed and Kelly smirked.
“We sure did.” He said and you smacked his chest but you couldn’t help but agree.
“Soooo how did it happen?” She asked
“Taylor found out where I lived and tried to start something and broke his restraining order and it just went from there.” You said as she handed you a plate of food and Kelly a plate of food. You both went to sit down next to each other and then she was bringing drinks over.
“I have to say I’m really glad that she became our roommate.” Kelly said and she smiled.
“She really is the best.” Shay said
“Stop you guys.” You said and Kelly chuckled.
“She’s telling the truth.” He said as he took a bite of his food and so did you. As the three of you ate and talked about everything you could feel Kelly’s hand on your bare thigh and you looked up at him and he was fully focused in a conversation with Shay and you listened loving hearing them talk but you were just enjoying his hand on your thigh and being close to him. As Shay looked down at her phone looking at and still talking Kelly looked over to you and into your eyes, his eyes were filled with love and so were yours.
“I love you.” He mouthed and you smiled at him.
“I love you too.” You mouthed back and he smiled and you honestly meant it. You couldn’t wait to spend more time with him as your boyfriend.

day eighteen - in remembrance
notes: woooo lawdy. febwhump did not go how I intended it to when I started, but I'm committed to finishing it out! enjoy this next chapter!
read on AO3 or below
Something was up with Kelly; Stella just didn’t know what.
There hadn’t been any rougher than normal calls, their relationship was solid, everything was good and yet, something was wrong. He was quiet and withdrawn, especially at the firehouse, and he wasn’t snippy per se, but he was a bit more irritable.
Stella had tried talking to him but he always brushed her off, insisting he was fine. She knew he wasn’t but she’d also learned, after all their years together, that pushing Kelly to talk about his feelings usually didn’t work well. Stella would just have to wait until Kelly was ready to talk.
It took a few hours, close to the end of shift, but Kelly eventually came knocking at the door of Stella’s quarters.
“We don’t have any plans after shift, right?”
“Uh, no,” Stella answered, confused. “Not that I know of.”
Kelly gave her a small, half smile. “Good. I want to take you somewhere.”
Stella nodded. “Okay!”
Kelly left, returning to his own quarters, that small smile still on his face. Stella smiled after him but it was a sad smile. Kelly’s smile didn’t reach his eyes and she hoped their after-shift adventure would tell her why….and how to fix it.
… … …
Stella had no idea where they were going. Kelly hadn’t given her any information when she asked as they left the firehouse and the car ride was silent apart from the soft tunes coming from the radio. Not even the sights out of the windows gave her any hints as to what they were doing.
She was thinking about all the places they could be going but Stella never imagined they’d end up where they did. To say she was shocked when Kelly stopped the car outside of a cemetery would be an understatement. Stella was so surprised by their location, she hadn’t even noticed Kelly had gotten out of the car until he opened her door for her.
Quickly, Stella got out of the car to meet Kelly. “A cemetery?” she asked Kelly quietly.
Kelly took her hand and led them down the main path. “I know, it’s a little weird but there’s someone I want you to meet.”
Stella quirked an eyebrow but nodded. This wasn’t what she was expecting.
Kelly continued to lead them down the path until finally, they veered off and came to a stop in front of a simple but beautiful tombstone. Stella’s heart stuttered when she read the name etched onto it.
Leslie Elizabeth Shay
“I know I’ve been a little off recently,” Kelly started. His thumb ran over Stella’s hand, as if to calm himself, and his eyes never left Shay’s tombstone. “It was Shay’s birthday yesterday and it normally doesn’t affect me this much but a lot has happened this year and I just…”
“You miss her more than normal,” Stella finished. “Because you wanted her to be there.”
Kelly nodded. “She was with me through so many low points in my life, I wish she could’ve been around for the high points too. She would have loved you.”
Stella smiled and laid her head on Kelly’s shoulder. “I wish I could’ve met her.”
After a minute or two, Stella turned towards Kelly and waited until he moved to face her. Stella used her hands to cup his face. “Shay would’ve been so proud of everything you’ve done and how far you’ve come.”
Kelly nodded because he did know that. It didn’t make things easier, especially when he still did stupid things that would have Shay smacking him if she were still here.
“Tell me about her?” Stella asked sweetly and a genuine smile crossed Kelly’s face for the first time in days.
He launched into story after story of who Shay was and how she impacted him and the others at 51. Some of the stories Stella had heard before, either from Kelly, Gabby, or someone else at the firehouse, but some stories were new. Not for the first time, Stella wished she could’ve met the blonde in person and thanked her for everything she did for Kelly.
Kelly’s stories spanned over their time at the cemetery and the car ride back to the loft. There was still sadness in Kelly’s eyes but the light had also started to return. His smile was more genuine and his body seemed less tense than it was a few hours earlier.
It was nearing lunch by the time they arrived back at the loft. After an easy meal (both too emotionally exhausted to do anything more than simple), there was one more thing Kelly wanted to show Stella: the contract video. He hadn’t watched it in a long, long time but he knew exactly where it was. No matter where he moved to, his contract video with Shay would be going with him.
Kelly got it set up on the TV and joined Stella on the couch right as the video started. As Shay’s face popped up on the screen and her voice started to play through the speakers, Stella felt Kelly’s body relax into hers. She couldn’t help but feel comforted as well by the love, trust, and friendship displayed on the screen. As the screen faded to black, Stella turned to face Kelly. She cupped his face and repeated the words she’d said earlier. “Shay would’ve been so proud of you. I’m so proud of you and I love you so much. Thank you for sharing Shay with me.”

Last resort | Leslie Shay
Pairing: Leslie Shay x Firefighter!Reader Reader pronouns used: she/her Summary: Chief Boden orders everyone to evacuate the building, will you follow his orders when you hear a baby crying? Masterlist | Chicago Fire masterlist | Words: 2.1K
It had been a quiet day at 51, you were playing cards with the rest of squad 3 when the alarms went off, signaling all units to move to an apartment fire. You jumped up and ran to the truck, kicking your shoes off and stepping into your boots. You pulled the pants up, the suspenders over your shoulders, and hopped in your seat. Squad was the first to pull out of the firehouse. Severide taps away on his tablet, “Okay, squad, listen up. The fire is fully evolved. We’ll be the first company on scene, let’s work quickly. When we’re on scene we have to move fast. Let’s wait on Bodens orders, y/l/n you’re with Cruz, Tony with Capp, and Mills you’re with me. Do you copy?” You all let him know that you copy him and mentally prepare for the call you’re about to have.
When you arrive at the scene you can immediately tell that it’s bad. “Alright, people, let’s go to work.” Boden says over the radio. “Truck 81, primary search on the first floor, Squad 3 you take the second and third. Engine, I want a line on the first floor and raise the aerial in case it’s needed. Ambulance 61, set up triage. Let’s go, people.” You look to Kelly to hear which floor you have to go to. “Cruz, y/l/n, second floor. The rest with me to the third.”
Once arrived on the second floor, you and Cruz go door to door. The fire has already reached this floor too, so you have to kick in all the doors to check for people that might’ve passed out from the smoke. Cruz takes the north wall and you take the south of the massive hallway. You kick in another door and yell, “Fire department, call out.” Into the room. You hear a man call out, “Over here.” They hid in the bathroom. You help them stand up and walk them back to the stairwell. They seemed to be doing fine, so you urged them to walk down by themselves, making sure to tell them to get checked out at triage. When you walk back you see Cruz helped an elderly woman to the stairs as well. “Need a hand?” You ask. He shakes his hand, “No, keep going, I’ve got this one.” So, you do, door after door, you search the room. A lot of the apartments are empty already, people that weren’t home or that walked downstairs at the first sign of something wrong, you were glad there weren’t a lot of people because the smoke started to get thicker and the flames bigger. Cruz was already back kicking in doors as well, when you heard Boden’s voice over the radio. “Attention all units, five more minutes and then I want everybody out.” You look over at the many doors you have yet to check and speed up your pace.
It hadn’t even been five minutes yet when the next order came over the radio. “Attention all units, I’m calling it. Everybody out!” You hate leaving all these rooms unchecked, but you knew that Boden was right, the fire was strong. You followed Cruz towards the stairs when you heard a faint cry that stopped you in your tracks. When you heard it again, it sounded like a little kid. You had to make a decision, follow orders, or try to save the child. Against your better judgment you turn around and take off in the direction of the cries, leaving Cruz behind. The crying gets louder the further that you walk down the hallway, meaning that you are getting closer.
Cruz walks out the door and takes his mask off to take a deep breath. He sees the rest of 51 standing behind Boden, all looking in his direction. Boden is quick to speak up, “Cruz, where is y/l/n?” Cruz looks around thinking you were right behind him this whole time. “She was right behind me.” He says in disbelief, already putting his mask back on. “Cruz, stand down. I can’t let anyone back in.” He reaches for his radio. “Y/l/n, report. I want you out of this building, right now.” You hear his request on the radio, but ignore it as you’re kicking in the door that you hear the crying coming from. The fire has already made it through the ceiling of the living room, you crouch down making your way over to the crying. When you reach an open bedroom door you find the crying baby. He was lying in the arms of a woman laying on the floor. You quickly check for a pulse, you’re relieved when you feel a regular heartbeat, she must have passed out from all the smoke that was filling the room. “Y/l/n, report.” You hear over the radio again, worry now present in his voice. You don’t have time to respond as you hear a voice coming from underneath the bed. “Is mommy okay?” You look under and find a girl who can’t be more than three years old. Your heart sinks, how were you going to get all three of them out, with the fire getting stronger and stronger. Setting aside your worries, you pull her out from under the bed. “Mommy is okay, the smoke just made her really sleepy, that’s all.” You take the young girl by the hand and pick up the baby, to move them to the bathroom where you’d all have some more room to breathe. “I’m going to get your mommy now. I will be right back, I promise.” You sit down next to the mom, feeling her pulse once again. Still a steady heartbeat. You reach for your radio. “Chief.” You take a deep breath before speaking again. “Chief, is Leslie with you?” Chief Boden ushers Shay closer. “She’s standing next to me. What's going on?” Shay shares a worried look with him. “Leslie, baby, are you there?” You hear her respond with a shaky voice. “Yes, the line is open, you’re scaring me, what’s going on?” - “I love you so much, but I have to try. I just wanted to let you know that I love you, in case I..” She interrupts you, “Don’t say it, you come back to me okay. I love you, please come back to me.” It breaks your heart to hear her like this. “I’ll try my best, I promise.”
You grab the bedsheet and drag the mom towards the bathroom where you left the kids. Once inside you take off your mask. The little girl is crying, you take off your glove and wipe away the tears. “I know it’s scary, but I’m here to help. My name is y/n, what about you?” Between sobs she tells you that her name is Mila. “Okay, Mila, let’s get you all out of here.” You take off your oxygen tank and your coat, before you turn the water on in the bath, drowning the bedsheets. “Mila, honey, come here. I’m going to wrap this around you, okay? And then I want you to climb on my back.” The girl nods. You were trying to create some sort of carrier with the sheet that would hold both Mila and her little brother, so that your hands were free for their mom.” Once you had Mila attached to your back, you picked up the baby and wrapped him to your front. “I’m going to put my coat back over you okay, I want you to be very still and hold on to me, okay honey?” You button up the coat so that both the kids are safe from the fire. With the remaining part of the bedding you wrap up the mom’s body, making sure that she has some kind of protection from the flames before you pick her up and take one last breath of oxygen from your mask, since you had to leave it behind.
The fire had spread through more parts of the apartment, but there was no going back now. You went around as much fire as possible and jumped through the ones you couldn’t go around. To your surprise you made it to the stairs. You hold the mom close as you decent, quick but careful. The smoke was really starting to get to you, but you couldn’t stop, you made a promise to Mila and you intend on keeping it.
Outside the team was watching the building, hoping and praying that you would walk out of the door. They didn’t believe their eyes when they saw you exit the building, everyone running your way. Kelly takes the woman out of your arms and lays her down on the stretcher from one of the paramedics. You fall to your knees from coughing so much. Leslie sits down with you trying to calm down your breathing, while Cruz tries to help you up, but you push him off. Between coughs you manage to say, “The kids.” - “We can’t go back in, y/l/n. It’s too dangerous.” You shake your head and open your coat, revealing the improvised baby carrier. You shake off your coat to reveal a second child. Once your teammates take the kids from you to get checked out. Dawson is by your side with an oxygen mask, you eagerly put it over your face and take some deep breaths. “You scared me so much, please never do that again.” Leslie says hugging you tight.
Chief Boden steps your way. “You did good, y/l/n.” He says. “Get yourself checked out at the hospital, you took in a lot of smoke.” You nod in agreement. Dawson steps up to Boden, “Can Shay and I take her? I know Shay won’t want to leave her side right now.” Boden agrees to let them take you and will let dispatch know that ambulance 61 is out of order for the time being.
The doctors do some tests, they all go well and you are cleared to start duty right away. Dawson drives the ambulance back to the firehouse where your teammates gather as soon as they hear you pull up. You step out of the back with Leslie, as soon as they see you they’re all relieved to see you’re doing so well. “I’m all good, don’t worry guys.” You walk up to the Chief. “I got cleared for duty, Sir. I did have to leave some of my gear behind, though.” Boden nods, “We’ve got some spare tanks and masks, don’t worry about it. Glad to have you back.” Once Boden walks away you turn your attention back to the team, they all give you a hug or pat on the back. Luckily the rest of the day was slow, just a couple small calls, so you were able to catch your breath a bit more.
After a night of uninterrupted sleep, you join the team for breakfast. Mills cooked, and it was delicious as always. Boden ordered an inventory check on all the vehicles, so that’s where you headed next. You were crouched down checking equipment when you heard people walking outside. “Mommy, I see her!” You turn around at the familiar voice. Mila comes running up to you and jumps into your arms. “Hi Mila.” You hug her tight, seeing them here meant so much. Since another ambulance company treated them, you didn’t know how they were doing. Mila lets go after a while remembering something. “We made you cookies.” You smile at the little girl, you had only seen her scared on the scene, which made seeing her so cheerful now even more happy. She pulls you over to her mom who was talking with Leslie and Chief Boden. “Hi, I’m y/n, nice to meet you.” You say extending your hand. Instead of shaking your hand she goes in for a hug. “I’m sorry.” She says while stepping back. “Shaking your hand didn’t seem enough, you saved my life.” She looks down at her kids and adds, “Their lives. I owe you everything.” You smile at her, “No need to apologize, and of course, I was just doing my job.” The woman shakes her head, “Everyone that I have talked to has said that you went above and beyond for us. So, thank you. Thank you so much.” Hearing back from the people that you saved was so special. Knowing that you’re the reason they are able to stand right in front of you. “Do you have some time to stick around? I would love to show Mila the trucks, if she’d like.” Mila was already nodding her head enthusiastically, “Please, Mommy.”
Your girlfriend was watching you in awe as you posed for pictures with Mila on your lap behind the steering wheel of the Squad truck. While Chief Boden was proudly watching you interact with the family that you saved.

Don't Stop Believing| 1| K. Severide

Introduction.
**
“I don’t know Jamie, she seemed serious about it all.” Libby Reagan said into her phone, she had returned to the Sky Lounge Coffee Shop, where the day before she had met Paramedic Leslie Shay and her girlfriend Clarice and Shay had suggested off-hand that she should try becoming a paramedic turning the times she wasn’t in school to earn money.
And to get her out of the bad habits she had formed and break her out of the shell she had been in for the last few years.
“I think it would be good for you Lib.” Jamie, Libby’s twin brother returned, “You always wanted something good like dad, grandpa, Danny, and Joe.” Their grandfather was the police commissioner in New York, their father was the Chief of Deans, and their two older brothers were joining the police academy or on the force itself.
“Could you imagine Danny finding out that I am working with the CFD?” Libby returned with a small laugh, her eyes going to the window and smiling when she saw Shay with two new people she hadn’t seen before.
“He would probably flip his lid but Lib, he wants you happy. We all do. And you haven’t been happy since we turned 16.”
“I know, I hate it when you are right.”
“Hate it when who is right?’ Shay asked, having come inside with the two people, one a good looking man with dark eyes and graying hair and a woman with dark hair and a teasing smile.
“My brother. Jam, I gotta go be careful. Tell Syd hi.” Libby said into her phone quickly before hanging up.
“Which older brother? Jamie?’ Shay asked, causing her to nod her head. “Danny is out on tour again and Joe is in the academy. So it's hard for me to talk to them. Jamie is easy.”
“He is closer right?” Shay asked, sitting next to her. “Yeah, he’s in Boston for school,” Libby answered, her eyes going to the man that was now sitting across from her. “Libby, this Kelly, my roommate and this is Dawson, my partner.''
Libby muttered a quiet hello and slipped back into her shyness.
Seeing it. the man engaged her in a conversation. He was curious about her, she wasn’t like the other girls that Dawson and Shay brought around for him to meet. He wanted to get to know her.
Dawson and Shay exchanged a look, the latter had been right, Libby was perfect for Kelly, she was the exact opposite of Renee and the badge bunnies that came around. They both wanted Kelly happy and Libby was the best one for that.

❛ shay - speare? oh my god, you are such a loser. ❜ the blonde laughed and shook her head in amusement. ❛ way to ruin a soft moment, kel. ❜ but leslie's only joking. besides, what would a mushy moment be between them without some silly comment. it was their thing. they could joke about anything and everything, but at the end of the day? they had each other's backs no matter what. that was what family was.
❛ yeah, it was a good one. ❜ as his arm settled around her shoulders, shay leaned into him, her own arm wrapping around his back as the warmth from him seeped into her. ❛ i know you do, and i appreciate you too. ❜ tilting her head until her temple rested against him, she smiled. ❛ you're my ride or die, always. ❜ shay couldn't imagine a life without kelly in it. it wouldn't be a life, merely a hollow shell. ❛ what's got you in a mood? you know you can talk to me about stuff. ❜
@crownslip said: "i'll follow you to the bitter end; as i always have." ( leslie shay )
her presence alone is enough to compensate for the lack of warmth that currently occupies his hollow chest. the liquor isn't doing a very good job at filling that void, but he can always count on her to remedy that all on her own. kelly isn't a natural - born pouter; he much prefers working, pushing himself through the shit times so hard that he'll be completely blind to his problems when he haphazardly emerges on the other side. but even he has his days.
lips curl, toothy grin forming on a tired face. a chuckle slips past his lips, and he finally dares to lift his head from where it's been hanging over their island counter top for the last hour. "that shakespeare or somethin'?" he questions playfully, turning his head to lock gazes with her. he finds home within her eyes, comfort and familiarity that few other people have ever provided him with.
"shay - speare," he blurts out after a moment, draping an arm around the blonde's shoulders to draw her in closer. sides bump, lopsided smile growing. "that was good, wasn't it? just came up with that." he boasts, thumb running across the fabric of her shirt absentmindedly. a brief pause, smile fading in favor of a more genuine expression not masked by his usual charisma. "i really appreciate you, y'know that?" he asks quietly. "dunno what i'd do without you."

A blur. One big, mushy blur. From the moment Chief Boden knocked on her door to break the horrible news, to the incredibly hard day of Leslie's funeral and all the days after that. The many tears had washed away the grieving memories of those first few weeks without her, almost as a natural coping mechanism. But the memories of Leslie Shay could never all leave her. Not in this lifetime. Leslie had been hers to love and to care for, for at least a beautiful four years, and Y/N promised herself to carry the big piece Leslie still held in her heart with her until her last breath.
However, life after Shay wasn't easy. It was dreadful. Every square of their shared Chicago townhouse had Leslie Shay written all over it. From Leslie's jackets and shoes still in the hallway, photographs of them and a few of Leslie and her Engine 51 friends on the fridge to the still leaking sink Leslie was going to fix that weekend.
Y/N stared at the faucet, where single droplets fell into the sink every ten seconds or so, the only sound filling the eerily quiet kitchen. She took a courageous sip of the beer in her hand and grimaced almost immediately. Leslie loved this brand of beer, but Y/N could never quite understand why. Drinking it was silly, but it was a weak attempt to try and get a grasp of her late girlfriend. She still bought them, by the way, even if she knew she was never going to finish the eight pack of bottles. It would all feel too real if she stopped buying them.
Her laptop and papers from work still laid abandoned on the kitchen counter, where it had been since she heard the news. Y/N couldn't care less that her boss was at his wit's end now that she had been absent for two months. She was grieving and she needed to get through everything on her time and terms. Her family's requests to stay with them for a while so they could take care of her had been in vain. Y/N just couldn't leave the place where Leslie Shay still seemed alive, even if that same place and the memories still lingering around tore her apart. The silence in the house, the empty and cold right side of her bed or the absence of Leslie's laughter never failed to make her cry, but she'd always washed her tears away in the shower just after. Then she'd usually walk to the kitchen, only to come across one of Leslie's t-shirts which she had thrown on the floor in a hurry to get to Station 51.
Dawson had tried to help her out the first few weeks. After all, it was only fair she was there for her best friend's partner, and she found solace in trying to grieve together. But while Gabby tried to push herself to get out of bed every morning, Y/N was off worse. Therefore, Gabby took it upon herself to look after the girl. She always made sure to bring her groceries, help her clean the house and take care of other errands. But while at first Y/N had been too numb to express any emotion, the tides had quickly turned. She started getting frustrated whenever Gabby tried to get her out of bed, or when Gabby would try and clean the house, unbeknownst to her cleaning Leslie's stuff or whatever was connected to her, and therefore disrupting Y/N's peace of mind. She soon realised she had to respect Y/N's need to be alone. Visits after each of her shifts turned into weekly visits or just a quick check-up through the phone. Y/N soon felt embarrassed how she had treated Gabby, who had only ever meant well.
She grimaced when she took another small sip, and her mind wandered off to Severide. She hadn't seen or heard a word from Kelly after the funeral, so she figured he was mourning in his own way as well. The quiet Friday nights without Severide coming over for a beer were another big loss and a painful reminder of what had happened.
Y/N took a peek at the clock— in an ideal world, Leslie's shift would've ended thirty minutes ago. And she would probably be walking into the kitchen right about now, a shit-eating grin on her face as she would find Y/N waiting for her. After a quick peck on the lips and a much-needed embrace, she'd kick off her shoes in some corner, pull out her ponytail and put on her favourite green t-shirt.
Y/N's eyes wandered to Shay's work jacket still draped over the couch. She walked over to it and hesitated but couldn't help herself when she pulled it on. She hadn't tried to seek its comfort before, afraid her own perfume would take over Leslie's, but she needed it right now. She pulled up the collar, nuzzling her nose into the soft fabric and inhaling softly.
The peaceful ticking of the clock was interrupted by the doorbell. Y/N shuffled through the apartment and slightly opened the curtains of the livingroom to see who was at the door. She sighed softly and looked down at the set of pyjamas she was wearing underneath Leslie's jacket, which she hadn't changed out of for over a week. She looked back outside where most of Leslie's co-workers from Engine 51 were patiently waiting for her to answer the door. It pained her that she felt unsure to open the door. She couldn't handle this right now—them all giving her looks of pity, trying to coddle her or cheer her up. It would never work, it would never bring back Leslie Shay. Then she remembered how important these people had been to Leslie, and she slowly opened the front door.
They all noticed the lack of colour on her cheeks, the sad and empty eyes... but then they all took note of the jacket she was wearing, the emblem telling them whose it had been.
"Hey! There she is! Our girl!" Herrmann broke the silence and pushed his way forward to plant a kiss on Y/N's head.
Y/N cleared her throat, a hoarse, "Hey, everyone." coming out.
"It's good to see you." Casey smiled softly and squeezed her arm, squeezing it another time when he saw tears well up in Y/N's eyes.
"Um..." Mills started, knowing he had to change Y/N's train of thoughts, "I made some pasta for all of us. A family recipe." He smiled adorably, his attempt of comforting the girl.
"I brought Monopoly." Otis held up the board game, "Care for a much-needed revenge?"
Y/N nodded, a soft smile on her face.
Mouch opened his mouth, it was now his turn to comfort her, "Now... I tried to make you some delicious Japanese Dorayaki, but it completely backfired.... so I brought some tubs of ice cream instead."
"That's really sweet. Of all of you. Um," She looked at Gabby momentarily, her eyes full of regret as she remembered how cold she had been to the girl lately. But Dawson only gave her an encouraging smile, giving her the little push to open the door further,
"Come in."
They all passed her, Cruz showing her the packs of beer under his arm before Boden suddenly stood in front of her. He could see the pain in her eyes, no matter how bad she tried to hide it from them. Boden hadn't been able to let go of the sight of Y/N the day he had to be the bearer of horrible news, and it still pained him to this day. He didn't know of any comforting words and instead put a hand on her shoulder, gave her a sympathetic nod as he waited for her to walk in so he could close the door.
Once inside, Y/N immediately started apologising.
"I'm so sorry. Had I known you were all coming over I would've cleaned..." She looked around the mess before pointing at herself. She probably looked worse than how she felt.
"Hey- don't sweat it. It's okay." Herrmann hugged her. She hugged back, having missed the comfort of someone's arms around her, but she froze once Otis pulled a blanket off the couch so he could sit down.
☾ ⋆*·゚:⋆*·゚:⠀ *⋆.*:·゚ .: ⋆*·゚: .⋆
Shay perked up at the sound of the frontdoor opening and her smile widened as soon as her girlfriend stepped into the livingroom.
“Ah, if it isn’t my favourite girl.” Shay teased, her eyes following Y/N’s movements as the girl rid herself of her coat and shoes.
Y/N finally turned around to fully focus on Shay, a wide smile on her face as she saw the girl sitting in the corner of the couch, hidden away under the blanket, a beer on the coffee table while some random show played in the background.
“Come here.” Leslie opened the blanket and made grabby hands, letting out a content sigh as soon as Y/N cuddled into her. She wrapped her arms around Y/N as the girl rested against her front and pulled the blanket back over the both of them. She rubbed Y/N’s arms and placed a quick kiss on her temple, “How was work?”
Y/N let out a groan, muffled by Leslie’s neck, “I’m this close to killing him.”
Leslie shook her head and let out a breathy laugh, knowing exactly what she was talking about.
“How was your day? How’s everyone at 51?”
“It was fine, nothing too stressful today. And they miss you. When are you going to be cooking for us again?”
Y/N peeled one eye open and looked up, “Did they actually say that or is that just your excuse to see me more often?”
“Hm… so what if my reasons for wanting you there are completely selfish?”
Y/N’s laugh echoed through the room and her breath against Leslie’s neck tickled, “Fine. I’ll see when I have the time.”
☾ ⋆*·゚:⋆*·゚:⠀ *⋆.*:·゚ .: ⋆*·゚: .⋆
"Don't!"
Everyone froze and turned around.
"I-I'm so sorry, I-" She hurried to the couch, grabbed the blanket and held it safely against her chest, "We always cuddled on the couch and, um... it still..." Gabby had approached softly, stroking her friend's back, "It still smells like her and I-"
"No need to explain." Boden nodded understandingly.
Y/N's eyes then wandered to the mug Matt grabbed out of one of the cabinets, her eyes filled with stress. It was Leslie's favourite and go-to mug for a quick cup of coffee before a shift. Gabby followed her line of sight, and with a silent look from her to Matt, he softly put it back down and picked another one.
"Y/N, is it okay if we open up the curtains because I'm going to be blinded when we walk back outside later." Herrmann used his charm and opened them up without waiting for an answer. The group walked around the kitchen and livingroom freely, opening up cabinets to get everything ready. After all, they used to come over now and then. They were no strangers.
"Here kid, you gotta eat." Mouch handed her a bowl of Pete's pasta, "But not too much, you still need some room for the ice cream." He winked and sat down just like the rest, a somewhat awkward silence filling the room. Y/N felt their eyes on her every now and then, felt them exchange worried looks with each other, knew they were doing their best to cheer her up and check up on her, since that were the main reasons they had come over. Engine 51 was a tight-knit family and Y/N had been no stranger to them in the four years she had dated Leslie Shay. They would all have to stick together, help each other, show Y/N love and support. For Leslie.
☾ ⋆*·゚:⋆*·゚:⠀ *⋆.*:·゚ .: ⋆*·゚: .⋆
Gabby pulled Casey aside, needing to get something off her chest that had been bugging her for a few weeks now. Matt immediately noticed the crease between her eyebrows, a telltale sign that something was up.
"I've been walking around with something and I need your advice, I don't know what to do and I-" Matt placed his hands on her shoulders, hoping to calm her down and stop her tears from falling.
"It's okay, you can tell me."
"Um- okay so..." Her voice wavered as she looked up to find the words. She then pulled something out of her jacket and nervously played around with it in her fingers before showing it to Casey.
"Shay... she... she told me to hold onto this."
The ring twinkled in her hands as Casey's face fell with realisation.
"She was going to propose to Y/N and didn't want her to find it so she... she gave it to me so I could hide it until she needed it and now I-" Matt stopped her and engulfed her in a hug and whispered comforting words in her ear.
"I don't know what to do, Matt. I can't keep this a secret any longer. Y/N deserves to know but I'm terrified that it will destroy her... I'm starting to think I should just throw it away and- Fuck you, Shay."
"Hey, hey, hey, it's alright," Matt cooed, holding his shaking girlfriend in his arms. He kissed her head and let out a big sigh, contemplating what to say next. "What do you think Shay would've wanted?"
Gabby wiped her nose and sighed, "I...She... she would've wanted us to look after her girl and we're doing that, but I don't know what she wanted me to do with this." She held the ring up, "I was so excited when she asked me to help but now I wish she never had."
Matt gave her a tight-lipped smile, understanding her feelings but not knowing what to say. Gabby bit her lip, thoughts racing through her head, thinking of every possible scenario. She wiped her nose and cleared her throat,
"Screw it- I'm gonna tell her. Shay loved that girl with all her heart and I'm sure she would have wanted Y/N to know she did."
☾ ⋆*·゚:⋆*·゚:⠀ *⋆.*:·゚ .: ⋆*·゚: .⋆
"Ladies..."
Gabby and Leslie both looked up as Y/N approached the ambulance, a grin on her face.
"Hey, missed me already?" Leslie smirked before pulling Y/N closer by her waist and planting a chaste kiss on her lips.
Y/N rolled her eyes and gave the totebag to Gabby, who watched with an amused smile on her face.
"What's this?"
"Lunch. For you two. And you, Miss Elizabeth Shay-" She turned back to her girlfriend, "Forgot your keys again."
Shay caught them mid-air, and shrugged, "Maybe I just like whenever you open the door for me."
"Then you're going to be waiting a long time in front of a locked door tonight. I'm out with my old friends from Uni, remember?" Y/N joked.
"Is Leah going to be there?"
Y/N sighed, rolled her eyes and nodded, "Of course, she invited herself again."
"Leah? What's the deal with this Leah?" Gabby wondered, seeing the amused yet annoyed look on Shay's face.
"First girlfriend. She still thinks she has a chance since, and I quote, first loves never die, even if she ruined it by sleeping with another girl."
"She's still making advances even though she knows Y/N is with me."
Gabby grimaced, "And you're not bent on going with her tonight because...?"
"Work, duh." Shay shrugged, "Too bad, honestly, because I've been sharpening my tongue ever since the last time we saw her."
Y/N laughed softly as she put her arms around Leslie's neck, nuzzling her nose against the girl's cheek.
Shay caught herself smiling like a little kid and squeezed the girl in her arms, planting a quick kiss on the top of her head, "What time will you be home?"
"We have reservations for seven so around nine... ten-ish? Depends on how much fun we have."
"Of course, go enjoy yourself, okay? And go give her hell."
"You know it." Y/N nodded, walked over to give Gabby a hug as well.
"Don't forget to eat, you two!" She let out a laugh when Shay playfully slapped her butt.
"Thanks, have fun tonight!" Gabby and Leslie smiled as they hopped back into the back of the ambulance, continuing to clean it. But Leslie's eyes followed Y/N until the girl had disappeared.
"I'm going to marry that girl one day."
"I know." Gabby teased, seeing the lovestruck look on her friend's face.
☾ ⋆*·゚:⋆*·゚:⠀ *⋆.*:·゚ .: ⋆*·゚: .⋆
Gabby opened the frontdoor with the spare key Y/N and Leslie had given her years ago and called out for the woman, knowing damn well she probably hadn't left the bed. She finally had enough of the pile of clothes on the ground and grabbed them before walking over to open all the curtains.
"I brought dinner! It's still warm! Mills cooked!" She yelled as she walked into the bathroom, throwing the clothes in the washing machine. She walked into the bedroom when Y/N took too long to reply and still caught a glimpse of the girl trying to wipe her face dry before she tried to smile at Gabby.
"I- um, thank you, I appreciate it." Her chin wobbled and she sounded stuffy. It was clear she had been crying after one look at her eyes, and that she was trying her best to not start again. "Everything alright at 51?" Her voice wavered.
Gabby froze as she looked around the bedroom— everything that had once been stored in the closet and drawers was now on messy piles all over the bedroom floor.
"Hey, are you- What's wrong? Why the mess?" Gabby sat down next to the girl, rubbing her back to soothe her.
"Sorry-" Y/N broke out into a sob and Gabby felt the painful lump in her throat start to appear again. "I was just trying to- I... I don't know."
"Hey, sshh, it's okay."
☾ ⋆*·゚:⋆*·゚:⠀ *⋆.*:·゚ .: ⋆*·゚: .⋆
"Dawson." Chief Boden beckoned her over to his office, a carton box on the desk behind him, "I've tried to stall this for as long as I could, but we need the locker space." Gabby's face fell, "Would you mind bringing this to Shay's loved ones?"
So there she stood once more, fumbling with the keys before the frontdoor got opened by Y/N herself, whose eyes immediately went to the box underneath Gabby's arm.
Y/N nodded, knowing what was going to happen, and opened the door further to let her in.
"How have you been?" Gabby cringed at her own question and was glad Y/N deflected it by a question of her own.
"Have you seen Shay's green t-shirt? The one she put on as soon as she was off duty?" Y/N ignored her and immediately asked what had been on her mind.
"Oh, um... I did the laundry this week? Did you take them out of the dryer? Maybe it's still in there?" Gabby was about to walk to the bathroom for the dryer, when Y/N ran past her, threw open the dryer, rummaged around before she indeed pulled out Shay's favourite shirt.
"Fuck." Y/N whimpered as she held it in her hands, the safe and familiar smell of Leslie no longer present as she pressed it to her nose. She started to sob when she felt another part of her girlfriend slipping through her fingers and leaving her life. Gabby could only watch the girl break, her chest hurting at the sight.
"I'm so sorry." She mumbled, but Y/N had already wrapped her arms around Dawson, making the girl stumble back.
"Can we look through the box? Please?" Y/N mumbled into her shoulder.
"Yeah, sure, come on. We'll do it together."
She watched Y/N slowly go through the box, inspecting each item carefully, from Shay's go-to shampoo to the keychain she had probably gotten for free at some doughnut shop. It was weird, but Y/N seemed to calm down immensely. Having something of Leslie's again helped... even if the one thing she had hoped to find wasn't in the box.
"What's wrong?" Gabby noticed the look on Y/N's face as she placed everything back.
"It's stupid," She sighed as she looked at the cute note she had slipped into Shay's jacket a few months ago, apparently she had kept it.
"Hey, it's definitely not stupid. Tell me." Gabby squeezed her hand.
"I don't know... it's idiotic, but I had this hunch a few weeks before the accident..." She paused, took a deep breath before she continued, "I couldn't find my grandma's ring earlier this year, the one I always wore, and when I asked Leslie about it she rambled about how she wanted to surprise me by getting it polished for my birthday but that she hadn't gotten to it yet because of work... I just thought... I don't know. It's silly."
Gabby gave her a soft smile, encouraging her to continue.
"She got so nervous when she told me Matt was planning to propose to you. I had a feeling she was trying to see what I thought of marriage or what my ideal proposal would be like. I guess I just thought she might have..."
"Been planning to propose to you too?" Gabby finished, earning a nod from the woman next to her. "Would that make you happier?"
Y/N shrugged, "I'm not sure... It'll remind me of the fact she's gone and all the things I will miss out on, and that we won't live the life together like I hoped we would've. It's stupid, but I've been looking for it everywhere in the house." She let out a chuckle at her own idiocy. "I guess it's just me wanting to find something to hold onto her for a bit longer."
Gabby let out a big sigh and looked up at the ceiling, contemplating what to do.
"What? What's wrong? Did I say something-"
"No, no it's nothing. I mean- wait here." She stood up and grabbed her car keys,
"Where are you going?"
"I have something in my car. I'll be right back."
She rushed back a minute later, the ring Shay had carefully picked out with Gabby resting in her hand. She gestured Y/N to open her palm, but the girl only looked up, confused.
"I've had this for months, mainly so you wouldn't find it... and I wasn't sure you wanted it after everything that happened. But this should be yours. It is yours." The ring fell into Y/N's palm, she had an unreadable expression on her face.
"We spent three hours at the jeweller trying to get the perfect ring for you, which is not like Shay at all." Gabby smiled at the memory, "She was so excited but she knew she had to wait for the right moment. I'm not sure what she had planned exactly, or when she was planning to surprise you, she never got to tell me, but I'm sure she would have wanted you to have this either way, with or without a proposal."
Y/N let it sink in and played with the ring in her hand. She recognized her grandmother's ring, which was altered just slightly with a shiny stone in the middle, but it was undoubtedly the ring she loved most and the one she would love even more now.
"How long ago did that happen?"
"Um... about six months ago?"
"Bitch." Y/N mumbled when she thought of Leslie keeping it a secret from her. Things started to make sense now and she could almost see the accomplished smirk on Leslie's face.
Gabby laughed softly and wiped a tear from her cheek, "Do you like it?"
Y/N inspected the ring for a few more seconds before sliding it onto her left ring finger. Her heart clenched as she imagined Shay holding onto her hand before sliding the ring onto her finger.
"It's perfect. She picked really well." A sad smile coated her face as the ring twinkled on her ring finger. Then she opened her mouth to quietly mutter,
"Yes, I do."

💦 with Leslie Shay and female reader and the two of you exploring each other body with sex toys
shay dipped the toy inside your pussy. it was a lubed thick purple dildo and you watched, leaning up on your elbows. she smirked as she pushed in it, watching it disappear as your hole swallowed inch by inch of it.
when you were impaled with it and just a little bit hung out, she flicked a vibrator wand on and put it directly on top of your clit, glancing up to see your mouth hanging open as moans fell past your lips.
you tried to grab the toy to fuck yourself with it but she pushed your hand away and pulled away the vibrator to put it on your hard nipple. "don't touch it." she murmured and you whined before she turned it off with a smirk.
"take care of me with it hanging out your pussy the whole time, then i'll let you finish." she challenged, a devious glint in her eyes.
you were eager to grab a vibrator, this one for her g-spot. you quickly lubed the end up and spread her pussy lips to ease it inside. when it was snug inside her walls, you grabbed an anal plug with a smirk, see how she likes it, you thought.
"anything goes, right?" you questioned and shay paid no attention with a nod. you lubed up that one as well while telling her to lay on her side. which she did, not realizing what you were about to do.
shay noticed too late when you spread her cheeks, the cold metal slipping inside her tight hole, only the handle showing now around her skin and she moaned.
"fuck, you're such a slut." she whined and you slapped her cheek in retaliation before turning her body back around, the metal probably snug up her now.
you clipped the button on for the vibrator inside of her and she moaned, it instantly vibrating inside her pussy walls with pleasure. her wails were loud in the room, the moans falling past her lips repeatedly as the vibrator worked her pussy over.
you clicked on another, the regular wand and laughed, putting it over her clit for a second like she did with your nipple earlier. and it pushed her over the edge with a loud gasp. "o-oh my."
you watched her legs shake and smirked, laying down next to her to give her a kiss. "leave in the plug while you fuck me over." she nodded, letting her orgasm finish over before sitting up.
shay rolled over so she was laying on her belly and you could see the plug when she pushed her butt up, her tongue stuck out while she focused on gripping the toy, starting to push it in and out.
you were more wet now, after playing with her cunt and she leaned in to lick your clit with her tongue, sweeping it up a few times before replacing it with her thumb.
with her right hand, she pounded and thrusted it the dildo and out of you, the thick, long purple toy disappearing inside of your hole before reappearing again. and she circled your sensitive nub faster until you fell apart under her, clenching the toy hard around the walls of your pussy.
shay laughed, realizing she had to wait a second to pull it out and looked at you with pleading eyes before you nodded, allowing her to sit on your face while you rode out the orgasm.
you slowly pulled the chunky plug out with a plop and lapped at her wetness with your tongue flat on her as she gripped her tits, allowing another orgasm to rip out of her before plunging a few fingers inside of you, ready to give you another all over again.

Girls Girls Girls - Leslie Shay x Reader - Chicago Fire
Request: Can you do a Leslie Shay X Reader one where the Leslie finds out the reader is gay and the reader has to kiss Leslie to shut her up from teasing and the reader confesses?
You were new to Firehouse 51.
This meant you got the classic interactions that Cruz and Otis would attempt each time someone new joined the firehouse.
"So... S/n, I was wondering if you'd like to get a coffee sometime, if coffee isn't your thing, maybe dinner?" Cruz suggested, he'd approached you whilst you were sat on the bumper of Ambulance 61, having been talking with Dawson beforehand.
"Sorry, Cruz... you're not my type... no hard feelings, you seem awesome but you might want to try a different tree." You replied, chewing your lip as Cruz just nodded, walking away back to where Otis had been eavesdropping.
You were ignoring how Mills was watching from the corner of his eye, talking quietly with Dawson as Otis approached you next.
"So, Y/n, do you want to get a drink after shift?" Otis enquired, leaving you to glance up from your phone.
Your eyes flickered from where Cruz was watching with Capp to Otis standing in front of you.
"Sorry Otis, but, just like Cruz, you are not my type." You replied, patting him on the shoulder before you retreated into the firehouse, not realising that Mills was following until you heard the footsteps.
"Please do not be the third person-"
"I'm not, don't worry, I just wondered... are you..." You raised an eyebrow as Mills paused, hesitating as you stared at him.
"Are you gay?"
"It scares me that anyone here thought I was straight, but I just got asked out by Cruz and Otis. What do you think made them think I was straight? Because I'd like to correct that immediately." You enquired, smirking as Mills laughed.
"I have no idea, I thought it was obvious with the way you were eyeballing Shay." Mills replied, leaving you to almost slip as you were walking.
"Did she notice?"
Your voice was quiet, leaving Mills to hesistate as the two of you walked into the kitchen to start making lunch.
"No, I don't think so, she might have noticed you turning down both Cruz and Otis though." Mills teased, his smile falling into a grimace as you flicked the lettuce at him.
A chuckle left your lips as you watched Mills fumble to catch the lettuce, leaving him to throw a grape at you. He watched with a laugh as you caught it in your mouth.
"Well, they were barking up the wrong tree." You shrugged off, moving to find the bread.
///
"So, S/n, what's this I hear about you turning down Cruz AND Otis. I alsoheard those letdowns discouraged Mills whilst you were at it..." Shay began, leaving you to glance up from where you had been sat on the bumper of Truck 81.
"Cruz and Otis aren't my type and Mills wasn't asking me out, he was just trying to gauge what my type actually was." You replied, glancing up as Shay stood in front of you.
"So, if Cruz and Otis aren't your type, and neither is Mills, who is your type? Casey? Kelly? Don't tell me it's... no, you seem to have better taste than him..." Shay rambled, leaving you to look up at her with one eye shut out of boredom.
"Wrong tree, Shay, wrong tree."
"Wait, wrong tree as in.... ooooh, finally someone I can appreciate women in a similar way... now that leaves Dawson or-" Shay was cut off as you stood up, your hand going to the back of her neck as you pulled her towards you, into a kiss that lasted seconds before you slipped away, chewing your lip.
"...me..." Shay gasped, staring at you with her mouth wide open.
"Sorry if that was too forthright, but I really like you Shay, y'know, like like you-" Your confession was cut off as the alarm began to go off.
"Truck 81, Ambulance 61, Squad 3, Battalion 25, structure fire..."
