Very surprising and twisted plot. Revenge is best served cold. Psyco-drama/thriller at its best. Would recommend.

I won an advanced reader copy of Who Did You Tell? in a Goodreads giveaway. Who Did You Tell? by Lesley Kara is a story about healing and learning to love again. Astrid has hit rock bottom, she’s fresh out of rehab, broke, unemployed and living with her mother. Slowly Astrid finds herself rising from the ashes of her old life, there’s only one problem- Simon. He was Astrid’s last serious boyfriend but he has recently passed away. Astrid has started receiving receiving threats, all of which seem to be linked to Simon. Astrid has been attending her AA meetings, but she’s no longer sure who she can trust. Can Astrid overcome the guilt of her past and survive her tormentor? This was a fast moving, action packed book. There were a few spots where the story got choppy, but overall a great read. Who Did You Tell? is available today, Tuesday, June 16, 2020. Precious bookworm moments where I’ve got an hour before I have to go to work so I can spend some time READING. This is my current buddy read with @keeperofpages and enjoying it as much as I did The Rumour, Lesley Kara’s first novel. It’s intriguing, it keeps me turning the pages and I’m gobbling it up so quickly I think sparks are flying from my eyeballs! 😂 Sign of a good book. #bookstagram #bookworm #readingandcoffee #preciousmoments #makethemostofit #whodidyoutell #lesleykara #notsponsoredbycosta https://www.instagram.com/p/B8IvhkyAHYx/?igshid=12f8dq3n2b73e

3/5 Book Review: The Rumor by Lesley Kara • • 232 pages. That's how long it took for it to get interesting to me. • • This book was so slooooow! The story dragged on relentlessly for 232 pages! Then in the last 90 pages or so, it was page-turning and interesting. I was determined to finish this book to find out the truth. Then the ending! Plot twist! • • Although categorized as a thriller, this book was only thrilling at the end. The story was not really engaging in the beginning. I had a lot of eye rolls, and I wondered about some details that the book gave, but then I had to remember this is fiction and I can't get upset that certain details could have been misleading or just plain not true. I was also confused as to the location of the story. Looks like it takes place in the UK, but then flits back and forth mentioning cities in the USA. • • Unfortunately, I don't have much to say about this book. It was dry in the beginning, and I forced myself to finish this book. I was annoyed with the characters, especially Joanna, she was exceptionally nosy and overly emotional, and some other characters came off as "suspicious" to get the reader to think that the story was about them but it wasn't. The ending gave a surprise, as to who the rumor was about, which I didn't expect because I feel like it came from out of nowhere, which I guess was the point the author was trying to make. Rumors can be about anyone, and you never know what the truth really is, until you seek the truth. Overall, it was "meh." I give it 3 stars because of the ending. • • #readreadread #write #maddblackreads #wellreadblackgirls #diversespines #goodreads #blackreaders #booksofinstagram #bookstagram #bookaholic #bookaddict #bookstagrammer #diversebooks #bookworm #blackgirlsread #lovetoread #blackwomenread #blackandbookish #bookreview #blackbookblogger #bookclubofinstagram #moodreader #readwhatyouown #therumor #lesleykara https://www.instagram.com/p/B_nTMZcApEg/?igshid=1q4c2p7fhj5kc

Who Did You Tell by Lesley Kara is the story of a young woman, Astrid, who is trying to stay sober. She moved in with her mother after rehab. Astrid is trying to forget her past and move forward to a clean life but it isn't easy especially when she begins to see images from her past. Images of people she thought were dead. Trust issues soon arise. A mystery and whodunit that is surprising at the end.

I saw this book making the rounds a while ago but I deliberately didn’t want to know anything about it for fear of spoilers. When the opportunity came up to include it in the #newyearoldreads challenge (started by @emmasbookishcorner ) and buddy read it with @keeperofpages it was a win-win situation! 😱The Rumour is a debut novel and a cracking one at that. It kept me on my toes and constantly intrigued to continue turning the pages. 😱Janel and I tried to stay one step ahead and figure out what might be going on but we failed dismally and were delighted to do so. It’s always a good sign when the author can surprise the reader like she did. It’s also one of the qualities I look for most in my crime fiction or thrillers. 😱 Lesley Kara writes about small town issues and the characters that inhabit a small town so well. It felt authentic, claustrophobic and incredibly considered writing. 😱 I would certainly recommend The Rumour for fans of the genre and those who enjoy a gripping, head-scratching plot! #bookstagram #bookworm #readingwithmybestie #buddyreads #therumour #lesleykara #debutnovel #wortharead https://www.instagram.com/p/B7pxoZlA72h/?igshid=1cbdh0lqub5pp
