Cleaning After a Rat Infestation

It's likely that the rats walked on beds and couches and climbed up your window curtains. Washing with anti-bacterial detergent is your best bet in getting rid of lingering odors.

5. Double-check confined spaces

Places like the attic and the basement are frequented by rodents, so you might as well make sure that these areas are thoroughly decontaminated. For sure, you might want to check narrow gaps and even crawlspaces for any leftover droppings and dead rats. In the latter case, use a plastic bag to pick up and throw away the carcass before it decomposes.
