So, I've been in the middle of a few brainrots lately, and I ended up making a Warrior Cats AU for JJBA, because I'm cringe but I'm free 🔥🔥
I ended up with these designs, and a little bit of information for the characters as well :D and...a fic outline, so that's really fun. I happened to have grown up on furry one piece (Warrior Cats) and I'm sure that's. very obvious LMAO, so I had a LOT of fun with designing and writing Something. I also have a buncha extra doodles too, I guess. I have Buccellati and Abbacchio done, too, but I want to make a separate post for them. Feel free to indulge in my autistic rambling below the cut;
I decided to call this series "Stelli Fortuni", and I sorta slapped it somewhere in the middle of Warrior Cats canon--so there's canon warriors here--because I'm not about to make new clans and the story in Warrior Cats is really interesting and I want to play around in it and I've decided to do that through my autistic little lens, ok?
Part 5's arc would take place in the beginning of the Power of Three (Outcast, specifically) and end during Sunrise.
Also, imagine that Link meme--it's my sleepover and I choose the ___ ? yeah, It's my AU and I choose the culture, and I say these cats have traditions because they're a friggen cat society and also they have sexualities and gender too. this is MY au and I say they're WOKE
(For Giorno, I know the art says Goldenwind, but I changed it last minute because I found the new one fits better).
Giorno - Goldenwish (Riverclan) LaPerm
Small and plump curly furred golden tom with turquoise green eyes. He's quiet and always seems poised. Nobody really knows where he came from, just that he appeared one day in Riverclan's camp as a kitten. Leopardstar decided it'd be best to take him in. It certainly didn't escape her notice that he's got the same strange starkissed mark on his shoulder that Silverfish and Shinekit do. That being said, Giorno has an unusual affinity for plant growth and a kinship with nature.
Buccellati - Stickyfig (Riverclan) Egyptian Mau
Large, lithe white tom with small black spots that look like tadpoles. He's wise, thoughtful and always stands tall. Even as an apprentice, he's always proved to be reliable and he's quite well liked through all the clans. That being said, he's got quite the weird side, as well as a caring and fatherly side. He, along with Tigerfoot, Violethaze, Mandarinflight & Houndsight appeared at the lake during a stormy night. Only Leopardstar and Mistyfoot know why they were out in that stormy night. Starclan has gifted Stickyfig with the uncanny ability to cut through almost anything, a power he uses sparingly.
Trish - Softrose (Riverclan) Turkish Van
Slender rose-ginger and white she-cat with soft green eyes. When she's first allowed into the clan, she's quiet and reserved. She only (hesitantly) talked with Stickyfig and Goldenwish, but later she unwinds a little. She won't admit it out loud, but she's unsettled by the idea of a full prophecy--that would end in lives being lost--hinging on her arrival at all. At first, she truly doesn't even want to be in the clan. Along her journey with the rest of the gang, she warms up to them and, by the end, decides to stay in Riverclan. She's been blessed with the ability to soften anything.
Mista - Tigerfoot (Shadowclan) Caracat
Bulky and well-muscled brown tom with a striped backside, tufted ears and muddy brown eyes. He has six toes on both of his large front paws and five on the back. He's also abnormally large for a cat, and his clanmates joke often that he has wildcat blood in him, or that he must be some kind of mountain cat. This actually isn't that far off. The cats he arrived to the clans with were all cats from a backyard breeder that tried to make domestic wildcats--Caracals, Servals Leopard cats, etc. He doesn't like to think too much on it--he's here now, right? He's devoted, loyal, and very lack-a-daisy. He trusts his physical strength more than his cleverness--but that's not to say he's unintelligent, far from it. Unlike Violethaze, he's quite devout in Starclan, believing that they guide his paws and that, as long as he's true, he'll be safe. Lucky, even. While, at first, it might seem like he's the only "chosen" without powers, he can talk to animals directly. He's bonded with six unruly birds.
(Those birds are, if you're curious, Kingfisher, sparrow, bluejay, mourning dove, woodpecker & a european robin).
Fugo - Violethaze (Shadowclan) Silver-spotted f1 Savannah
Sleek, lithe and a little gangly white tom with unusual silver spotting like a leopard's and fiery violet eyes. He's extremely impatient and short tempered--it's a wonder he became a medicine cat at all. That being said, he's incredibly knowledgeable and good with medicine. He's not just knowledgeable on cures, either, he's also quite knowledgeable on poisons and venoms. He's weary and his clanmates think he's quite prickly and hard to get along with, but Tigerfoot thinks he's the funniest person ever to annoy. His biggest secret is that he has the ability to control illness and disease, which is why he'd such a good medicine cat. He can give what he takes away.
Narancia - Mandarinflight (Thunderclan) American curl
Medium sized calico tabby top with an orange face, tufted and curled ears, and wide and bright violet eyes. He's energetic and passionate, and fiercely skilled as both a warrior and a scout. Out of the band of unique looking cats, he's the one who could pass The Most Normal. When he was younger, he almost died of an eye infection that occurred due to the conditions of the mill--which lead to the group's escape to find help. He was only a kitten at that time, and while he pretends it doesn't affect him it does. He can't see very well out of that eye. He feels like it's his fault that they're all seperated now, but he also doesn't dwell on it much. He's got the ability to jump unusually high for a cat his size and build. He could climb an entire oak tree in a matter of seconds, and he has incredible vision.
Abbacchio - Houndsight (Thunderclan) Maine coon
Silver tom with a dark grey stripe along his head to tail tip. He has two toned eyes, and sallow silken fur. For a cat as young as he is, one would think he carries a moon of sadness across his back. He's very low energy and doesn't engage with his clanmates much. It's hard to become his friend, he's prickly, defensive and tired, but once you do you find that he's quite a loyal and wise, if not old, soul. In addition to being saddled with the guilt of The Horrors (his friend dying for him), he's able to communicate with the dead spirits that show themselves to him. They're able to guide him, but never fully interfere.
I wanted to give them abilities like they have in the show, but abilities that sorta made sense within in the context of Warrior Cats. Though, that makes me wonder, if these powers are supposed to fill in the space that Stands leave behind, does that mean Lionblaze, Jayfeather and Dovewing are examples of in universe canon Stand Users? /silly
This AU is entirely for fun and to get me into writing longer stories that I'll Actually finish. I basically grew up and learnt how to read and write with Warrior Cats, so this is kind of exactly my element. With NaNoWritMo coming up, I'd like to actually try to complete the challenge this year, since writing takes a lot of spoons for an unmedicated ADHD person. That being SAIID it's also perfect drawing inspiration too. Not to brag, but I've drawn so many.....memes. I've yet to draw anything serious, they always end up memes, I'm sick.
Here's some of those;
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
and as a bonus, I guess, here's an extra (outdated, I changed the design) doodle of how I think Mista would sleep as a cat (ft. Goldenwish and old Violethaze design)
Tumblr media
anyways, I'm having a TON of fun with this. I'm not entirely sure if anyone else likes this Specific Niche like me, but I'm having fun so who cares, right?
Anyways, I also have designs for characters outside of Part 5, I'm just especially abnormal about part 5. This AU also changes a lot of key events in the main WC story, like Leopardstar dying earlier, Mistystar also dying earlier and there's more like. traditions and world building than what we get in the actual books (Like, I want to add little festivals, special funeral services for fallen leaders, pilgrimages that medicine cats have to take, etc.) because I think it'd be super fun
Anyways, stay tuned gamers I'll probably not shut up about this /silly

The Evil Firestar AU, or the Firemask AU, is a warrior cats alternate universe
Everything goes as normal, but when Rusty joins the clans, he is apprenticed to Tigerclaw (who is very unhappy about it). Ravenpaw is the apprentice of Bluestar. Meanwhile, Mapleshade is very interested in this new kittypet in ThunderClan (who starts talking his way in and out of trouble and saying very radical ideas about unifying the clans), and begins teaching him how to lie in the DF. There's a subplot of DF politics, but mostly things go as normal. Firepaw manages to convince Tigerclaw not to kill Ravenpaw for finding out about Redtail, and the apprentices all get their warrior names after rescuing the kits from ShadowClan.
Firepaw is named Firemask for the darker orange mask around his eyes.
Tigerclaw ends up killing Bluestar, and naming Darkstripe as deputy. Firemask kills Darkstripe. During that time, Cinderpaw has her accident in a trap that was set for Firemask. Tigerstar acknowledges the game has begun, and after that Swiftpaw and Brightpaw end up attempting to lead the dogs to Tigerstar. They fail, and both are badly wounded, Tigerstar killing Swiftpaw and leaving Brightpaw to die. Firemask and Ravencall (Ravenpaw's warrior name) bring her to the RiverClan border, telling her to run.
Firemask starts his own little group of his supporters.
With great reluctance from everyone involved, Cloudkit is brought to ThunderClan. Firemask starts worrying, and this gets worse when Graystripe and eventually Sandstorm leave for RiverClan (Sandstorm was going to have his kits, and didn’t want them to grow up there). After the TigerClan merges with ShadowClan, he stuffs deathberries in Tigerstar's prey, and that takes his second to last life. Then BloodClan attacks, along with RiverClan and WindClan. This time Scourge doesn't really care about taking over the forest, he just wants to kill Tigerstar. In the midst of the battle, Scourge and Firemask kill Tigerstar a second time, and the TigerClan cats are matched into the RiverClan camp.
Firemask manages to convince Leopardstar not to exile him, and gets passive aggressive nine lives. He is forced into picking Greystripe for his deputy (Ravencall was his first choice). He's not pissed, but not overjoyed at it.
He sort of reconciles with Sandstorm, and that's how the first arc goes. Mapleshade is clowning on Thistleclaw at the end.
That's the basic summary of the first arc, but there is a lot that I didn't go into.
This is the masterpost for those changes!

leopardstar
Hello! First post, as shown in a leopardstar fanatic mainly due to the fact that I’m reading her super novella. I’m trying to reignite the warrior cat fandom. I’ll be making a warrior cat forums page with more updates and questions, link will be posted soon!
Click more to see my opinions of leopardstar:!
Tumblr media
Honestly, I sympathize with her, and I feel as if people are to harsh and to quick to judge her as a villain. Yes, she’s made bad decisions, but after reading her book it’s safe to say I understand why.
Spoiler warning:!
Her father had high hopes for her due to the loss of his mate and kits, what was expected out of her siblings future was pushed onto such a tiny kit during critical period were words were facts. The entirety of the books (or at least half of it) is based on wanting to appease her father Mudfur. If you look deeply into why she pushed her love for Frogleap aside you’ll note she wanted to meet her assumed expectations set by her father. But going past that, she grew up with death, starting with having no mother or siblings and believing it was her fault they died (no thanks to skykit). Her father was her only chance of family and reliance, and later as she grew up her best friend Sunfish died which of course left her devistated but brought Lepoardfur and Whiteclaw closer together. I honestly adore their dynamic, they are my favorite duo (mother and son) in the entire saga. And you can see how close they are, even though they aren’t blood related they love each other beyond life and death which ultimately breaks my heart. After the death of her best friend and promise to protect him the day before her death, she also grows close to Frogleap who she ultimately has to push aside to chase after being leader of the clan. And not only does he move on quickly with another queen but has kits within the moon they’re broken up in. She loves Frogleap, even after the river incident she declares she loves him.
But getting back on track, she looses sunfish and looses her mate. Up until this point she’s been surrounded by death, and reading TPB I never looked deeply into Lepoardstar (also due to how young I was) and why what happened next was such a big deal to her. But as Fireheart and Greystripe invade Riverclan territory, whiteclaw charges ahead of the patrol and graystripe accidentally pushes him down a cliff and into the water.
Reading this genuinely made my heart break. Lepoardfur was beyond a mother and had love stronger than a mother could ever had. This was her kid, not through blood but through love. And the chapters post white claws death are heart wrenching. I couldn’t bring myself to read for days because I broke down in tears. I never expected him to die, I thought her mentors death happened at the gorge, not his. And it beyond pained me to read it. There’s no death sadder than his, and her reaction is all the more worse.
But continuing. After she begins to slowly process grief, the love of her life ends up being killed as well. She has to comfort his mate through it though and has to tell their kids what happened.
I genuinely have had to cease reading since it’s to heartbreaking.
Pre reading this book and just reading the series made me despise leopardstar, but now reading her novella, I beyond resonate with her. She’s genuinely the stronger warrior and most loving out of any cat, and her book made me hate silverstream and greystripe.
Of course it was greystripes fault he died, but the death still happened. And that patrol was meant for him to admit his feelings for silverstream while she was sneaking behind the clans back to meet with his murderer.
I admire lepoardstar with everything and love her. Reading lepoardstars hope is one of them best books I’ve ever read and highly suggest any warrior cat fan, even if you’re older and haven’t touched the books, to read it.

i made full “canon” allegiances for the start of the fourth apprentice: link to google doc
this is a part of a little series im doing, where im making full allegiances for the first book of every arc in order. here is the original post for the into the wild allegiances, the original post for the midnight allegiances, and then the original post for the sight allegiances
“canon” is in quotations because a lot of this is guesswork about who logically would be around at that point in time, but aren’t listed in allegiances or mentioned in the book.
this is mainly meant to be a resource for fanworks
po3 was really good at tracking apprentices. oots was decidedly not. apprentices would become warriors in one book and would still be listed as apprentices in the allegiances books later. the erins refused to cycle in new apprentices until the last hope. researching this was hell.
anyway
general stuff that’s all still same as last time:
wiki pages are linked to character’s names
med cat = cleric
characters are listed by age. where there are no concrete ages, i make my best guess
tc is the only clan without a “kit rank as all kits in the clan have known parents
i’ll be mentioning in what book each apprentice becomes a warrior, just because the oots allegiances are horrible
thunderclan:
millie - she is listed as a warrior
shadowclan:
flametail - he is not listed as an apprenticed because he has his full name. willowshine in riverclan is listed the same
berrypaw/berryheart, cloverpaw/cloverfoot, ripplepaw/buster - snowbird was pregnant around the same time as millie. briar bumble and blossom are apprentices at the start of tfa and become warriors in fading echoes, so these three probably follow a similar timeline, even though they aren’t introduced until avos
ferretpaw/ferretclaw, pinepaw/pineclaw, starlingpaw/starlingwing - become warriors in the forgotten warrior
kinkfur - she is probably pregnant at the start of tfa
pouncekit/pouncetail - random one-off warrior from bramblestar’s storm and in the allegiances of dovewing’s silence. he could literally be born whenever, but he and pinenose showed up together a couple times, so maybe they’re close in age? (maybe he was weaselkit’s father)
riverclan:
willowshine - as i mentioned with flametail, she’s listed as a full cleric rather than an apprentice
shimmerpelt - appears as a warrior in dovewing’s silence. in sky, splashtail says that she’s been a “warrior forever” so. warrior it is
sneezepaw/sneezecloud - he isn’t listed in the allegiances for tfa, but he does show up. he’s still an apprentice while his littermate and younger clanmates are warriors. the first time he’s listed as a warrior is in avos. major F
troutpaw/troutstream and rushpaw/rushtail - become warriors in sign of the moon. rushtail is another classic early riverclan retiree, as he retires in dovewing’s silence
hollowpaw/hollowflight and mossypaw/mossyfoot - become warriors in the forgotten warrior
duskfur - mistystar’s omen and mothwing’s secret have conflicting timelines on when curlfeather and podlight’s age, as MO has them as kits when leopardstar died and MS has them as kits during the great battle. i decided to go with mistystar’s omen, since duskfur is listed as being in the nursery in tfa. duskfur probably has them sometime during this book
lakekit/lakeheart - appears as a warrior in dovewing’s silence. she could be older but her mate appears as an apprentice in DWS so i made her a kit
windclan:
whiskerpaw/whiskernose - becomes a warrior in sign of the moon
furzepaw/furzepelt - becomes a warrior in the forgotten warrior
boulderpaw/boulderfur - becomes a warrior in the last hope

Note
The more information that comes from your Misty AU, the more I wish Thunderclan had fought for those kits. I hope Crookedstar gives Leopardstar the what for when she dies.
lmao.
then the misty au wouldn't exist! and we wouldn't get scenes like this:
He hears her voice on a border patrol. He didn't think RiverClan swam for fun so close to the border, but that's Feathertail, even if he can't make out what she's saying. "I'll catch up," he says, waving the patrol forward. "Feathertail?" he asks. The chatter slows, then stops. "It's me, Greystripe," he adds. "I heard you talking." He pushes forward, to where Feathertail is sitting on the other side of the bank. Mistyfoot is next to her, along with a black she-cat Greystripe doesn't recognize. "Hey," she says. "I just wanted to say hi." It feels silly, now. Feathertail was happy; he interrupted them. "It's good to see you," she says. She glances at Mistyfoot. "Can he...?" "If you can cross the river," Mistyfoot says, "you can come here." Greystripe doesn't hesitate. The water is freezing, but he still remembers how to swim. Feathertail's ear twitches. "How's ThunderClan?"
it's not hurt comfort if there's no hurt lmao.
i mean leopardstar is. very much not the worst actor here.
like. okay. not to be a misty au leopardstar apologist, but. her thought process is very much, "if i try to intervene on mistyfoot and featherpaw's behalf, tigerstar might just straight up start murdering my clan."
is that. a good way of looking at the situation? no. no it is not. but she does act (or not act) out of. some kind of care.
tigerstar already killed her deputy and best friend.
anyway.
mudfur gives her enough about it. i don't know what exactly their relationship looks like but. it's not great.
fwiw, she does manage to pull riverclan together afterwords. it's not like. she doesn't ever really win their favour and trust. or to an extent. it's Complicated. but she manages to unify them, and that's a lot.
anyway, leopardstar ranks fairly low on my list of Cats to Hate in this au. maybe i'll write some leopard pov to explain why.

⚠️SPOILERS FOR THE NEWEST BOOK RIVER⚠️ How sweet, here we have a beautiful drawing of Mistystar and her family. This was drawn by @noxvoca, very nice! More specifically, this scene depicts Mistystar being welcomed into Starclan. Honestly I was shocked when Mistystar died in River! I did not expect the writing team to kill her off as it was a running joke in the fandom that Mistystar is ancient and will never die. At first I thought she was going to survive but be constantly described as super old as that was what the novel appeared to be doing at first but then we were hit with a shocker! It’s become a meme how Mistystar died, basically that she couldn’t accept criticism and so she had a heart attack and died. It’s actually not particularly mentioned what killed Mistystar, but many fans suspect heart attack as she was old. I really like where the plot in River is going, with Riverclan being left leaderless and confused. The scene depicted here doesn’t actually happen in the books but I’d like to think it did. It’s a very sweet reunion between Mistystar, her parents and her littermates. I’d also like to think her mate Blackclaw and her children were apart of this group. And probably, with the events of River, Reedwhisker is also apart of this group. With being so old Mistystar watched many of her loved ones die before her. She lost her father Oakheart early on in the battle over Sunningrocks in Into the Wild. Her mother Bluestar was killed in a Dangerous Path, having sacrificed herself for her clan. Her brother Stonefur was killed by Blackfoot on Tigerstar’s command in the Darkest Hour and her sister Mosskit died early on in Bluestar’s Prophecy from the cold. It’s unknown how her mate died but it is noted in Forest of Secrets that her kits were swept away in the flooding river, we don’t know exactly how many kits she lost then but at least one of them died. Two of her kits survived to apprenticeship and later perished. Her foster mother Graypool was killed by Tigerstar early on aswell in Fire and Ice I do believe. Her leader Leopardstar died in Omen of the Stars and Mistystar almost lost her son Reedwhisker to Darktail in Vision of Shadows. Overall Mistystar lost alot of those close to her but now she can rest peacefully in Starclan with her family and lost clanmates and friends. What do you think of Mistystar? Was she a good leader? Or Did the years turn her sour? While you are doing that, if you enjoyed this piece be sure to give the original post a like. List of characters who should have their own SE or novella:
Stonefur (was going to say novella but there’s a lot to write about so SE). Starts when he’s made apprentice, follows him and Mistypaw growing in a Riverclan in which they fit almost perfectly. The battle of the sunning rocks. Oakheart takes Redtail off his back and tells him no Thunderclan cat should harm him. Then Oakheart dies before he can explain. Leopardstar names him deputy. He is forced to chose between dying and killing Stormpaw. LOTS of potential. Ends up giving a life to Blackstar and one to Mistystar. Ends with him welcoming his sister in Starclan. Manga shows him going to the tribe of eternal hunt from times to times to keep an eye on Stormfur’s kits. Title: Stonefur’s Trouble
Goldenflower (SE? Most of it would be covered in Bluestar’s prophecy but there’s still a lot to write about). Girl is training alongside Bluestar. Sister of Lionheart. Mate of Tigerstar I. Saw her family disband, her brother dying, her nieces suffer horrible accidents, Lynxkit and Swiftpaw die, her mate become a traitor, her daughter leave the clan, her son disappear in Midnight, made the Great Journey... Title: Goldenflower’s Blood (as in kin except we already have daisy’s kin)
Willowpelt (novella): both her littermates (Redtail and Spottedleaf) got one. Retconning Thrushpelt as her initial mate, the father of Darkstripe and Graystripe. Actually I just want that novella to be a cute love story between Willowpelt and Thrushpelt (without any “he came on her when she was an apprentice”, more like “she came on him a few moons after having been named a warrior”, since he’s still not over Bluestar at the beginning). Having him be reluctant or have kits after MossMistyStonekit’s deaths. Title: Willowpelt’s Mate.
On the same note could be a Thrushpelt novella actually but I prefer it the Willowpelt’s diary/love story way. Alt Title: Thrushpelt’s Love.
Perchpaw, the guy who killed Mapleshade (novella). I want to see him be named a warrior for avenging Appledusk, and then idk some slice of life about Riverclan, the usual floods and all, until we can make the link with Crookedstar’s times. Perchdusk (named after Appledusk) being the mentor of Appledusk’s kit. Perchdusk being the one to fetch the medicine cat when Appledusk’s kit is having their own litter (from which Shellheart or his father can’t remember will be born). Have him suggest the name Shellkit. Then die as an elder i don’t care. Have him comment on the aftermath of Mapleshade’s rampage, no medicine cat in Thunderclan, all the leaders against Oakstar for forcing three kittens to cross a flooded river... Title: Perchdusk’s Consequences.
Gorseclaw, son of Cloudstar raised in Thunderclan, headcannoned by some to be Oakstar’s father (and how he passed on to Tigerclaw his dna), by some others to be Adderfang’s direct ancestor instead (how the dna passed to Tigerclaw and Spottedleaf), frankly he can be both, or Spottedpelt, his sister, same (novella). Have them be raised in Thunderclan but not belong. Have one of them finally find a mate and give birth to Oakstar and whoever Adderfang’s father (or mother) was. Have the other always feel out of place. Gorseclaw’s Loneliness.
So anyway as a summary: if it were up to me, we’d be announcing two new Super Editions and three Novellas:
SE:
Stonefur’s Troubles and Goldenflower’s Blood
Novellas:
Part of A Warrior’s Dawn: Willowpelt’s Mate, Gorseclaw’s Loneliness and Perchdusk’s Consequences

We Should Have Drowned Our Love in the River: A HawkLeaf AU
Summary: Instead of meeting Crowfeather, Leafpool is introduced to Mothwing's brother, Hawkfrost. Even after their love meets a sudden, violent end, the consequences nearly destroy everything ThunderClan's medicine cat loves.
Main relationships: HawkfrostxLeafpool, BrambleclawxSquirrelflight
Tags/Warnings: Unhealthy relationships, emotional manipulation, major character death, graphic description of violence, loss of faith
Previous Chapters: Prologue, Chapter One, Chapter Two , Chapter 3
Link to Work on AO3
Chapter One
“Mothwing, what are you doing talking to a ThunderClan warrior?”
Leafpool spun around to find the source of the scornful voice and flinched when she realized the warrior was so close to her. As she took a step back to put some space between them, her RiverClan counterpart let out an irritated sigh.
“Hawkfrost, please. You know this is Leafpool. ThunderClan’s medicine cat apprentice?”
I’m not that much younger than the both of you, Leafpool groused silently to herself, resentful at the emphasis of her rank. Though she quietly scolded herself; Mothwing may be RiverClan’s full medicine cat now, but it came at the cost of her beloved mentor. I’ll go back to being a ‘paw for the rest of my life if that means Cinderpelt will live forever.
She met Hawkfrost’s suspicious gaze and he stood there, studying her. “That still doesn’t explain what she’s doing here.”
For what wouldn’t be the last time, Leafpaw wished she had the indignant confidence of her sister. She imagined herself hurling a searing comment that sent the tabby stalking away, but instead, she could barely get out her reply without stammering. “I don’t mean any harm to RiverClan. Mothwing just asked me for help with a few things.”
“I don’t see why she would need your help.”
“I’m still learning how to do things on my own,” Mothwing snapped. “I don’t have the luxury of conferring with a Clan mate, in case you’ve forgotten.”
Finally, the hostility in Hawkfrost’s eyes melted and he deflated, though it didn’t do much to erase the intimidating image of him seared into Leafpaw’s mind. “Okay, Mothwing. Just next time, tell me if you’re bringing her here.”
“The only ones I have to tell are Leopardstar and Mistyfoot. Which I did. I don’t need your permission.”
“Maybe not yet – but it’s not about that. I’m more concerned about walking in and seeing my sister with a strange cat.” He looked back at Leafpool. “Not that she’s much of a threat.”
How arrogant! Though the fact that Leafpool couldn’t prove him wrong kept her quiet. Not that she would ever harm her friend, but Mothwing had moons of warrior training and her father’s size on her side. Leafpool had always been told her petite stature came from Firestar’s sister – and though Cinderpelt had taught her basics in defense, she had no doubt her friend could bat her away like an errant fly.
Mothwing let out a purr. “If she’s not a threat, then stop talking to her like she’s a raiding party, dumb furball.” Reaching out with a paw, she playfully shoved her brother towards the den entrance. “Now get out of here, unless you want to pretend to be our patient so I can get in some practice.”
Hawkfrost sniffed, his nose in the air. “RiverClan warriors have far more important things to do than lay around and pretend to be hurt.”
“Well then go do it!”
Leafpool watched Hawkfrost leave; she couldn’t help but noticed how the sunrays bounced off his fur, turning his brown tabby stripes golden and making the white patches on his body turn brighter than freshly fallen snow. She shook her head, annoyed with herself, and looked back at Mothwing. Why in the world are these two so… pretty?
“Don’t mind him,” Mothwing looked back at the pile of herbs they had been discussing. “He’s much friendlier when you get to know him.”
Somehow, I’m not so sure. “It’s okay. He’s just protecting his sister.”
“Hah. Or throwing his weight around for the entire camp to see.”
—--
“Thank you again for helping me.”
Leafpool stretched, letting out an appreciative hum as her aching shoulders popped. “Of course. As long as Cinderpelt doesn’t mind, I’m more than happy. If you need anything else, please fetch for me.”
“I will. Bye.”
Leafpool stepped out into the center of RiverClan camp and felt a wave of anxiety as she saw the sun setting. I stayed all day. Firestar and Cinderpelt are going to be cross with me. She tried to tell herself that if they had needed her, they would have sent for her, but ThunderClan territory was pulling at her paws nonetheless.
As she was deciding whether or not to announce her departure to Leopardstar, the RiverClan leader approached. Leafpool swallowed; the she-cat had always made her nervous, with her sharp eyes and even sharper words. Sandstorm had told her how viciously Leopardstar had fought for Sunningrocks in the old territories, and Leafpool feared one misspoken word could give away information that would spark another war. But I’m a medicine cat. Surely she knows I am not bound to the same rivalries as her.
But like Hawkfrost said, warriors are different.
“Greetings, young Leafpool,” Leopardstar narrowed her eyes. “Thank you for helping Mothwing, though I’m not sure what you knew that she didn’t, this soon into your own career.”
Swallowing indignation, Leafpool felt her head grow hot as she tried to keep her tone respectful. “Sometimes medicine cats are taught ways to use herbs differently. I’m sure I learned as much from Mothwing and she did from me.”
Leopardstar’s tail lashed. “Is that right? I hope Mothwing didn’t share too much of her… wisdom.”
Oh, not like that, you old crow! “You have nothing to worry about from me, Leopardstar,” she replied carefully. “It is against my morals as a medicine cat to cause any conflict that would harm others, let alone my own Clan.” The leader nodded and Leafpool hoped she was satisfied with that answer. StarClan, I’ve never been one for politics.
“Hawkfrost, please escort Leafpool back to her territory.”
Leafpool felt her face strain from the effort it took not to react. “Leopardstar, thank you, but there is no need to worry-”
“It’s nothing like that Leafpool,” this time it was Mistyfoot, who had just approached the two, speaking. “We’re still learning the lay of this territory ourselves. And there was a fox found between here and ThunderClan recently.” She looked at Hawkfrost, who had walked closer after being beckoned. “A strong warrior like Hawkfrost will be able to keep you safe.”
Hawkfrost narrowed his eyes. “Sure, Mistyfoot. Whatever you say.”
Leafpool’s heart skipped a beat as the deputy and warrior stared each other down a moment longer before Mistyfoot broke first, turning away to look back at Leopardstar. Mothwing had told Leafpool her brother had been bitter about giving up his role as deputy when Mistyfoot returned, and it seemed like that wound hadn’t yet closed.
“Let’s get going, medicine cat,” Leafpool startled when Hawkfrost stalked past, heading through the reeds that surrounded the camp. Reluctantly, she followed.
The beginning of the trip happened in unbearable silence. Leafpool desperately tried to think of something to talk about, but she feared anything brought up would be met with indifference or, worse, annoyance. She couldn’t help but feel amused at the fact they were both connected to Brambleclaw and Squirrelflight – how different they both seemed to their respective siblings. Though I guess I should be thankful we’re not bickering like Brambleclaw and Squirrelflight.
“Hello? What, are you having a vision from StarClan or something?”
Leafpool let out a small squeak of surprise as her travel partner’s voice broke her out of her thoughts. “I’m sorry, I was… thinking about something. Did you say something?”
Hawkfrost peered at her curiously. “I said, did you always want to be a medicine cat?”
Leafpool thought for a moment before nodding slowly. “Yes, I think so. I never had the… desire to learn how to fight and defend. I guess I always thought there were better ways I could serve my Clan.”
“Are you afraid of violence?” “Oh no, it’s nothing like that. I have to deal with violence the same as you. You may be inflicting the injuries, but I have to patch them up. I’ve seen everything – battle wounds, broken bones, illness. I’ve seen Clan mates pass peacefully and violently.” Dimly, she realized Hawkfrost had slowed his pace to match hers, his eyes sparking with interest.
“Did Cinderpelt receive a sign from StarClan that you were meant to be her apprentice?”
“No, I don’t think so. I just always showed an interest in healing. Don’t get me wrong, StarClan accepted me, but they never told her I was the one. She knew that on her own.”
“I wish Mudfur had the same forward thinking about Mothwing in the beginning.”
Leafpool sighed. “Me too,” she admitted. “Though, I don’t know how much of it was Mudfur. Correct me if I’m wrong, but RiverClan needed convincing, no?”
Hawkfrost lashed his tail. “Only the fools who couldn’t see past their noses to understand that she was talented on her own. At first, I couldn’t believe she would give up her warrior duties, but when I saw her train… She was meant to be in that role, and they’d all be fools to reject her because of our parents.”
Leafpool was surprised at the surge of respect that bubbled in her chest for the warrior in front of her. He really seems to care about his sister. Maybe his aggressive demeanor was more of a show than she thought.
But that behavior can’t be encouraged, she told herself. Aggressive warriors create tragic battles. And Hawkfrost seems like one of the most aggressive of them all.
Does he? A voice challenged. Or are you only saying that because of his father? Thornclaw and Mousefur are aggressive. You’re not afraid of them.
But I know them. Maybe that’s all it would take. Knowing Hawkfrost.
“Well,” she began carefully. “Mothwing did receive approval from StarClan. So at least there’s no worry about her being accepted now.”
“That’s true,” Hawkfrost said slowly. Leafpool stared at him, feeling as though there was something he wasn’t saying. The two fell silent again, before he suddenly asked: “Squirrelflight is your sister, right?”
“She is.”
“Are you two close?”
“She’s my other half.” Leafpool took two more steps before she realized Hawkfrost had stopped. She looked back at him, curious.
“Would you do anything for her?”
Where is this going? Leafpool thought for a moment before nodding. “Yes…Yes, I suppose I would. And I know she’d do the same for me.”
Hawkfrost nodded. “Mothwing and I are the same.”
“I can see that. You two have been through so much together.”
“You have no idea,” he muttered. Leafpool desperately wanted to no more, but bit her tongue. We’re practically strangers. If anything, I should ask Mothwing more about her past. Her friend did share stories of her kithood, and their mother Sasha, but anything beyond the surface seemed to pain her. And if Mothwing was reluctant to share, surely pushing Hawkfrost would earn her a swipe or two.
“It must be nice, not having to worry about what it looks like to have friends in other Clans.”
But then again, it feels like I’m being interrogated. Who knew this sourpuss was so talkative? Outside her head, Leafpool shrugged. “I wouldn’t necessarily say I can’t worry about it. ThunderClan will always be my first priority. It’s my home. But medicine cats took an oath to heal. Sharing information on herbs and helping the wounded won’t give an advantage in battle; it will just ease some of the suffering in the world.”
“I disagree,” the tabby countered. “Helping the wounded means Clans have as many strong warriors as they can. So, if you, say… healed my wounds, I would be able to fight for RiverClan – even against ThunderClan.”
She flicked her ear, growing annoyed. This hadn’t been the first time she heard this argument. “That’s because you warriors look at everything like a potential threat. I see a cat as a creature worthy of life, not a… potential pawn in a war. Maybe if I healed you, you would survive to attack ThunderClan. But you would also survive to help hunt and feed your Clan mates; you would continue to look after Mothwing and support her when she needs it. Who knows? You may even be inspired to move to the medicine den yourself.” She was surprised by the feeling of delight that spread through her when he barked out a laugh.
“Fat chance.”
Before she knew it, the two were at the border between their Clans. Leafpool couldn’t help but feel disappointed; maybe Mothwing was right. Hawkfrost did seem kinder, the more he relaxed. And she couldn’t help but admit how nice it felt for him to be so interested in what she thought of her duties, rather than only talking about them when her skills were needed.
Enough, she quickly admonished herself. You became a medicine cat to serve, not to be showered with praise every time you picked up a cobweb.
“Well, here we are,” Hawkfrost said. “I know I came out here because of the fox, but I’m going to admit, I don’t think I’d be as popular a visitor in ThunderClan as you are in RiverClan.” Leafpool shook her head. “That’s okay. No need to alarm anyone. Besides, I can smell Thornclaw, so the patrol must have just passed by. I’ll catch up with them.” There was a beat of awkward silence; not knowing what else to say, Leafpool began to wade across the stream that made up the border, her teeth clenched and her tail stuck straight in the air in disgust. As she made it to the other side, she heard a laugh and spun around. “What?”
“That was the most pathetic attempt at wading I think I’ve ever seen.”
She scowled. “In case you haven’t noticed, ThunderClan doesn’t exactly go fishing like you do.”
He tilted his head, suddenly thoughtful. “No, but you really should have some basic grasp on swimming, you know. Accidents happen, and you do live by a rather large lake right now. Drowning can happen in the blink of an eye.” His eyes darkened and Leafpool felt her heart skip a beat. Was that a threat.
No. He looks as though he’s mourning.
Before she could pry, Hawkfrost shook his head and focused back on her. “Next time Mothwing drags you over to… eat leaves and talk to flowers or whatever it is you two do, I’m showing you how to swim.”
“Now, Hawkfrost, I don’t think that’s necessary-”
“Nonsense. You don’t adhere to borders like us warriors do – you said so yourself. Someday you may need to come help Mothwing and fall into the water. She’d be devastated and she’s been through enough, wouldn’t you agree? Or what if one of your Clan mates is drowning? You could save them.”
Despite the voice in her head telling her to reject the offer from this near stranger, Leafpool had to admit he had a point. How many ThunderClan cats had to be saved by RiverClan while they were drowning? And how many didn’t last long enough to have that luxury? She shivered. There would be more incidents as curious apprentices learned the territory jutting up against the lake.
“Okay,” she said, finally. “Fine. I’ll let you teach me how to swim.” She was caught off guard by how nearly-delighted the usually surly warrior seemed.
“It’s a deal then. Go catch up with your patrol.”
Nodding, she bid him a quick and quiet goodbye and dashed off down the usual route the sunset patrol took. As she jogged down the ridge, finally catching sight of them, she barely noticed their calls of greeting. Instead, all she could focus on was the image of sparkling blue eyes in the front of her mind.
StarClan, I am an idiot.

Note
Headcanons for Barley or Leopardstar if you have any?
Headcanon A: Leopardstar as an apprentice never understood Mudfur’s decision to become a medicine cat, and gave him hell for it, much to her father’s amusement
Headcanon B: Leopardstar never really grew out of being a dry-paw, and spent most of her time trying as hard as physically possible to get out of swimming or hunting patrols, to the point of faking her own death/disappearance for a solid hour
Headcanon C: Leopardstar can’t look at waste scraps or bones again the same way. RiverClan camp is the neatest out of all the clans.
Headcanon D: Her and Tallstar are wlw/mlm solidarity and gossiped the whole way on the journey and their respective non-clan partners (Sasha and Jake respectively).

Chapter II
-----------------------------------
The moon hung in the sky, nearly at it’s highest point by the time Stormfur and Feathertail finally emerged from their nests in the warrior den. They could hear Mistfoot, the Riverclan deputy, speaking low, but clearly, organizing the night’s patrols.
It was strange, though she was their mother’s cousin, Mistfoot acted more like an aunt to the brother and sister pair than anything. “Ah, good. You’re awake.” The dark silver-blue molly meowed, beckoning the siblings closer with the crook of her tail.
Feathertail was still leaning heavily on Stormfur’s shoulder, blinking lazily, and biting back a yawn, still struggling to wake up. “Just barely, Mistfoot. Did you need us?” He asked with a small laugh, and she nodded.
“Leopardstar wants us to do a border-check at Sunningrocks and renew our scent marker by the falls.” She explained quickly, but kept her voice down, certainly not wanting to stir up any excitement in the younger warriors and the easily impressionable apprentices.
Feathertail sighed. “Do you think she’ll try to make a move against Firestar for it so soon?” She asked. “Newleaf’s only just begun.” The young she-cat pointed out.
Stormfur was worried about his sister. She didn’t sleep very well at all last night, whimpering and crying in her sleep. It woke him up a few times too, and he tried to soothe her the best he could, but when he asked about it, she couldn’t give him a clear answer about the weird dreams.
So maybe this was what she needs. To get out and stretch her legs, get some fresh air. “I know. But you know how much we all enjoy Sunningrocks...If we can take it for ourselves, and have it for the elders, it could benefit us later on as a possible hunting place as it warms up.” Mistfoot commented on her own, and Stormfur could see where she was coming from.
Besides, even after all of these moons -- There’s always been tension between Riverclan and Thunderclan over that prime basking spot. Even before Oakheart and Redtail...No. Tigerstar…
“Anyway. I’m going to lead one party, with Shadepelt, Primroseheart, and Splashtail.” Mistfoot continued. “Beechfur will lead the other, with you two, and…” The deputy looked around, trying to find any other available cat still around in camp. She’d hate to have to wake anyone else.
They were stretched quite thin over the course of a long, unforgiving leafbare, and knew they all still needed some time to recover.
“I’ll go, Mistfoot.” A new voice sounded, and all three heads swiveled around to see who it was.
“Hawkfrost.” She answered smoothly, carefully, eyeing the unnaturally beautiful tom. His muscles rippled beneath a sleek, perfectly groomed pelt. “Thank you, but weren’t you already a part of the evening patrol earlier?” Mistfoot asked.
“Well, yes. But I really don’t mind. Still a bit too exhausted to try and sleep yet, you know? Antsy paws.” He replied, sitting down among them, angling his ears in greeting to Stormfur and Feathertail.
His sister smiled brightly, as usual, trilling her own hello’s, and Stormfur grunted softly, dipping his head.
“...Alright. And I want to send out a hunting party, too. Reedwhisker and Blackclaw, and I think I want Mosspelt to round it out. With their apprentices, that should be more than enough.” Mistfoot finished, pleased with her own choices. “Can you two go and ask your mother about that? I’m going to gather the rest of my group.”
Feathertail nodded. “Okay Mistfoot, we will. Good luck!” She said, and Mistfoot stood with a small smile, shaking herself out, before disappearing behind a patch of dense underbrush.
“That just leaves me, then. I’ll wait for you at the entrance.” Hawkfrost said, turning on his own heels, and vanishing with a whisk of his elegant, plumed tail.
Stormfur could still feel his unnaturally icy blue eyes watching them, even as Feathertail nudged his shoulder, guiding him along to go and seek out Mosspelt.
“I never know how I feel about him.” He muttered, glancing back over his shoulder more than once as they went.
“Oh, come now. He’s a good, loyal warrior. We’re lucky to have him, whether we know where his sire comes from or not.” His sister was much less offput by strangers than him, always friendly and welcoming, and always willing to give the benefit of the doubt. He only hoped that it wouldn’t leave her scorned and jaded one day.
“What about Mothwing?” Hawkfrost’s sister, and Mudfur’s apprentice had started out training as a warrior along with her brother, much like Stormfur and Feathertail, but eventually, she had found her calling elsewhere, when Leopardstar had encouraged her father to find an apprentice to start training for his retirement. Just like him in his younger days, so long ago.
The elder tom certainly wasn’t getting any younger, so it was a blessing from Starclan themselves when he had received a sign in the form of, wouldn’t you know it? A moth’s wing, just outside his den. It didn’t get much clearer than that, and she moved into the medicine cat’s den within the next few days.
“What about Mothwing?” Stormfur echoed Feathertail, tilting his head in some small confusion as to what she was getting at.
“I mean, you weren’t nearly this…” Her whiskers twitched, searching for the right word. “Not mistrusting, but. You know what I mean.” She decided. “When she was helping Mudfur patch you up after that scuffle with Duspelt and Thornclaw last moon.” She teased, brushing her tail over the newest scar on one of his forelegs.
“Thunderclan’s tough, I don’t care what anyone else says.” He snorted, shaking his head. “I’m just glad Father wasn’t there.” Stormfur said, some small curiosity lingering there as to whether or not Graystripe’s good friend would tell him he’d fought  his son in a border skirmish.
Feathertail grew silent, something more there behind her clear blue eyes whenever either one of them brought up their parents. Either of them.
“Besides, why are you defending him, anyway? Do you fancy Hawkfrost?” Now that...That was a jarring thought that all but made his pelt crawl. The thought of Feathertail falling in love...Taking a mate...Having kits.
He’d heard stories of their grandmother, Willowbreeze. How she’d succumbed to illness so soon after her own kitting. And then, of course, their birth-mother Silverstream.
There was an unsettling, horrifying pattern here. And as they say, ‘it comes in three’s’.
Who’s to say that he wouldn’t one day lose his own beloved sister, if she tried to start a family of her own?
He couldn’t bear it. But, it wasn’t as if he could ever...Would ever try to stop her, either.
Ultimately, he wanted nothing for her but happiness. No matter what it meant for his own sake.
But as ever, like some sort of link between them, Feathertail could sense when his thoughts were darkest, giving a bright, cheerful laugh to bring him back. “What, do you?” She teased in turn, just the same, leaving him flabbergasted as usual with her antics.
“Wh-What? Where’d you ever get an idea like that?!” Stormfur shook his head vehemently, giving her a rough, but playful shove of the shoulder. “I’m just saying.” Suddenly feeling hot under his fur, he cut his eyes away to look elsewhere.
“And I’m just saying he’s not so different than us. Both of them. Mistfoot and Stonefur trained us to be loyal to Riverclan, as did Hawkfrost and Mothwing’s mentors. I don’t doubt that they wouldn’t give everything for us.” Feathertail rationalized calmly, and somehow, he couldn’t come up with another sharp retort this time.
He could hear his former mentor’s voice in his ears now, chiding him for being so quick to judge another with no reason for it. After all, they’d been born half-clan as well, whether they knew it from the beginning or not.
Once more, yet again he realized just how strangely similar the circumstances were, the string of events that happened in these particular clanmates’ lives that brought them all together.
It wasn’t Hawkfrost’s fault. Perhaps he should try to be more open. Try to be more like Feathertail and give him the benefit of the doubt. “Alright, alright. I suppose it’s a good thing he’s coming with us. He’s a good hunter.”
“See? There you go!” Feathertail purred happily, nosing the tip of his ear. “But we should really hurry, we don’t want to keep him waiting.” She said, and he sighed heavily in response, the two of them hurrying along to find Mosspelt, who was nosing at a piece of fresh kill from the pile.
“Mosspelt.” Stormfur called, and the tortoiseshell female immediately lifted her head, a mother’s sheer instinct to look around and find whenever she heard one of her kits call. Though she didn’t kit them, she nursed them and loved them as her own alongside her only son, Beechfur.
“There you two are! I was wondering where you wandered off to when I didn’t find either of you in your nests.” She smiled, having to stretch up on her toes to meet Stormfur to touch noses with him, and then give Feathertail a lick between the ears.
“Sorry, Mistfoot wanted to talk to us.” Her adopted daughter explained, and the older molly’s brows raised in surprise.
“Ah, I see. Well, nothing bad, I hope?” When they both shook their heads, she nodded, once more turning around to nose at the few fish and water vole carcassses upon the pile. “A bit small. I was going to pick something out and take it to Dawnflower. She had some trouble kitting, so Mudfur wants to make sure she keeps up her strength.
Stormfur shuffled his paws. “Everyone’s alright, though?” He asked.
Mosspelt nodded for herself, giving a smile. “She’s strong, the kits are healthy. Leopardstar is pleased with them.”
“Maybe we can go see them tomorrow, after she has some more time to rest.” Feathertail commented, and Stormfur shrugged. “Oh, speaking of. Mistfoot wants you to join Blackclaw and Reedwhisker on a hunting party. She’s going to take a patrol to the falls, and Feathertail and I are going to be part of a second group to go and check our side of Sunningrocks.”
It was evident that Mosspelt had much of the same trail of thought that Stormfur did earlier, about Leopardstar possibly going to try and make a move against Thunderclan sooner rather than later, but only time would tell.
“But she didn’t want to go with her son? That’s odd.” Mosspelt voiced instead, and Feathertail’s visage turned solemn.
“She’s going to be with Primroseheart this time instead. I guess after Perchkit passed away, and then Pikepaw joined Starclan way too soon afterwards...She and Blackclaw still might not be on good terms.” But it was evident that the deputy was still trying to keep some small sense of unity for her little family, heartbreaking as the last year had been for all of them.
Terrible disease, and a brutal winter both were heartless killers of the unfortunate young and old alike.
“I see. Well, if you see her before you go, let her know that I’ll be glad to join them. I’ll go and see if I can’t catch up with them now.” Mosspelt gave a smile nonetheless. “Is Beechfur going too?” She couldn’t help but ask about her third kit.
Stormfur nodded. “Yes, he’s actually going to be part of our patrol.” He answered, and there was no masking the flash of pride on the she-cat’s face at the thought of all of them together again. It didn’t happen very often now that they were warriors. “Good! I’m sure he’ll be glad. Good luck, and be safe out there.” She warned goodnaturedly.
“Of course. You too. We’ll see you when you get back.” Feathertail promised, and once more, the small group of cats broke away, the two of them heading for the thick patch of reeds that marked the entrance of the camp.
--
Hawkfrost was already waiting for them there, as he said, Beechfur crouched there with him, down at his side. Sitting up when the pair of siblings came closer, he gave a languid stretch. “Alright, that’s all of us then. C’mon.”
At first, it was an odd sort of setup. Feathertail was walking shoulder to shoulder with Beechfur taking up the point, talking happily and excitedly with their other brother, with Stormfur just behind them for the time being, and Hawkfrost taking up the rear.
That wasn’t unsettling at all.
“...You look like you’ve got a burr in your tail.” Hawkfrost suddenly rumbled quietly behind him, nearly making him jump. Forcing the fur along his shoulders to lie flat, he gave an awkward sort of laugh.
But the other tom didn’t react, blinking at him with brows raised. “Ah...Sorry. Guess I’m a bit anxious myself.” Stormfur cleared his throat, and Hawkfrost twitched his whiskers, something like a smile, pushing ahead to walk in step with him at the moment.
“What, afraid Shadowclan is going to come creeping up and attack unexpectedly?” He asked, and Stormfur was left almost reeling. Was...Was he trying to make a joke?
“Uh...Ah, hah. N-No, of course not. They might like dark, but we’d smell them coming from fox-lengths away.” Stormfur replied, trying to mimic the same cool, aloof atmosphere that Hawkfrost seemed to radiate so effortlessly.
Really, he and Mothwing were only a few moons younger than him and Feathertail, so why was he getting him in such a tizzy?! Honestly!!
“Mm, yes. We would.” Hawkfrost agreed simply, though his tail did lash once with some emotion that Stormfur couldn’t quite place, pushing ahead yet again to come up on Beechfur’s other side, muttering something in his ear that Stormfur couldn’t hear from this distance.
Conversation over, now it was Feathertail’s turn to fall back and join him, at her usual place at his side. “Well?” She asked.
“Well what?” Stormfur muttered, pinning his ears slightly, trudging along.
“...Nothing, nevermind.” She smiled gently, keeping him company by making idle chat about nothing in particular. Sunningrocks wasn’t too far, and it didn’t take them long to get there, stopping up on something like a gentle rise, a hill that overlooked the area where the mighty stones sat cooling in the night on Thunderclans’ side of the border.
Stormfur’s nose wrinkled at the multiple different scents of the other clan cats. Firestar obviously wasn’t shirking on keeping it marked, boasting his clan’s pride about currently owning the prime spot.
Beechfur hissed slightly, but there was no use getting so worked up over it now. They couldn’t do anything unless Leopardstar gave the say-so, or if any Thunderclan cats stepped out of line. And if there was anything Firestar could do, it was keeping his own clan in line, at least.
Hawkfrost worked his claws in the earth slightly, pulling up grass and dirt. “We’ll have it back soon enough.”
“Oh, I’m sure of it.” Beechfur responded, the two toms saying nothing more, just staring out silently into the darkness, before they broke off into pairs, working their way down to their faint borderline. Smelled like it was a good idea for them to go ahead and come out this way.
No reason to give Thunderclan a reason to think they were weak and couldn’t even defend their own scentmarkers.
He and Feathertail brushed up against a few patches of grass here and there together, scenting along some rocks, and other things of the like, moving on down the invisible trail. “I wonder how Graystripe is? I hope we get to see him at the next gathering.”
“Me too.” Stormfur hummed. They’ve always had a good relationship with their rival clan’s deputy, and thankfully, after everything they’ve been through, Leopardstar never again held it against them to see him and talk to him during the night of peace.
Everything’s different now, and so far, it’s seemed to have changed for the better for the whole forest.
“Feathertail! Come here.” That was Hawkfrost, his voice calling from further down the way, and the siblings looked at eachother, before rushing along to meet up with him and Beechfur to see what’s wrong.
But they didn’t even have to ask. The wind shifted just slightly, carrying a strong, acrid stench across to them from within Thunderclan territory.
“Do you smell that?” Beechfur growled, and even Hawkfrost, normally so calm and collected for a cat so young, was bristling, eyes like hard chips of ice.
“A badger?” Feathertail was horrified, and Stormfur felt his tail bristle in aprehension. The scent wasn’t strong. A few hours old, at least, but there was obviously an altercation at some point earlier. Some stale cat-scent mixed along with it, but no overwhelming metallic tang of blood, at least.
Whichever Thunderclan cats came across the horrifying black and white beast must have managed to chase it off. But which way did it go from there?
The thought briefly occured to Stormfur to suggest if they should try to track it. Corner it, and try to fend it off for themselves. Make sure that it was gone for good, but. Even with four strong, quick, capable warriors, there was no guarantee. In the end, it could be a suicide mission.
He and Feathertail remembered when Firestar reported that Willowpelt, one of Thunderclan’s senior warriors, had been killed by a badger last leafbare...Unknown to them, their own grandmother. She was a good cat, and all four clans mourned her death, especially her three kits, Sorreltail, Rainwhisker and Sootfur. Could it be the same one?
Hawkfrost spat, shaking his head. “We need to tell Leopardstar and Mistfoot about this.” They needed to warn the clan, and make sure the apprentices and the queens were aware of the danger. For once, Stormfur completely agreed with him.
Beechfur nodded. “I don’t think it crossed this way, at least. They’re good diggers, but not great climbers. Hopefully it just moved on, but…” Brows knit, his whole body was still tense. “We should get back. I think we all know what’s going to happen next.”
With a tick of his tail, the quartet of Riverclan cats turned round and trotted swiftly back to camp, long tails streaming behind them. They didn’t want to rush and cause a premature panic until they did some more investigating in the daylight, but there was no time to waste.
So much for the forest being a safer place with Bloodclan gone!

imagine if sasha’s kit tadpole had lived and made it to riverclan,,? he was all timid but brave for his mom and siblings, he would’ve been such a lovely medicine cat, him and mothwing working together and tadpole giving some brotherly support to hawkwing- tadpole coming across hawking drowning a cat one day and hawkwing telling him to keep quiet like the ravenpaw/tigerclaw situation, like 👌🏻👌🏻 a good ass link to their father but tadpole being the one to take the final blow and be the one to kill hawkwing, unlike how ravenpaw was unable to have his revenge on tigerstar? GOOD SHIT and tadpole being the main medicine cat while mothwing went out for ‘herbs’ (talking to her gf leafpool😔🤝) and he becomes v close friends with leopardstar, being with her in her last moments and him also being the cat to take mistystar to become leader of riverclan, eventually retiring with his sister and telling kits tales of his travels to riverclan, stories of his brother, mother, 🥺🥺 i saw a AU a while back where tadpole became leader of riverclan and i lost it but it was so good):

Daniel in the Den
Part 1 | Ao3 | Buy me a Ko-fi?
Also I ask that you reblog this post if you like it ‘cause Tumblr’s hiding any post with links from the tags.
Lionpaw gaps as he looks around the island taking in the sheer number of cats around him, most if not all larger than him.
Stormfur and Brightheart are nearby keeping an eye on him and Jaypaw but let them just take in the gathering island. Lionpaw leaves his tail on his brother’s shoulders as he moves around, in a crowd his large it can be easy for small sounds to get drowned out and he figures if Jaypaw doesn’t like it he can toss his tail off.
But his brother stands there with his ears flicking madly as he listens all the while he makes no move to chase Lionpaw away from him. Hollypaw stood beside him, her mouth hanging open and green eyes wide with shock.
“Sure something huh?” Stormfur asks with a soft purr, “need me to start pointing out cats?”
“Could you?” Lionpaw wants to know who everyone is.
“Jaypaw!” Brightheart calls to him, “come with me would you?”
Jaypaw shrugs and heads after her, while Leafpool stops beside Hollypaw, “come on I’ll go introduce you to the other medicine cats.”
Stormfur lets him say goodbye to his siblings before looking over the crowd, “let’s see, who is here tonight.” He scans the crowd a moment before crouching down, “climb on my shoulders.”
Lionpaw doesn’t hesitate, scrambling up on his broad shoulders to let him lift him up to see, “whoa!” There were so many cats here, “I can see everything!”
Stormfur let out a rumbling laugh, “I bet you can. Alright, see that black tom over there, clearly WindClan?”
“Yeah!”
“That’s Crowfeather, the one who came with us on the great journey.” Stormfur lets him look a moment, Lionpaw thinks he looked harsh, even from this distance, though the brown apprentice next to him was pretty, “and over there, where Leafpool is, that’s Mothwing, the RiverClan medicine cat.”
“She’s pretty,” Lionpaw remarks and Stormfur laughs again.
“She’s your aunt you know, if you want to say hi I can introduce you.” He looks around, Lionpaw laughing as he was sort of tossed with Stormfur’s head movement, “there’s Ashfoot, the WindClan deputy.”
“Who is she talking to?”
“Tallpoppy, she’s a ShadowClan queen, and Dawnflower from RiverClan.” Stormfur answers easily, Lionpaw tries to remember all the names.
“Where’s Russetfur?”
“She’s the red she-cat sitting under the Great Oak with your father.”
Lionpaw looks around, “and where’s Mistyfoot?” He should at least know the deputies of each Clan.
“I’m wondering that myself,” Stormfur stands up which jostles him but Lionpaw stays on his shoulders easily enough.
“I’m right here Stormfur, you were rather easy to pick out of the crowd this gathering.”
Stormfur turns his head and Lionpaw comes almost face to face with a sleek silver she-cat. Beside her is a tortoiseshell she-cat and a pair of mottled grey apprentices.
“Mistyfoot, Mosspelt,” Stormfur purrs, “this is Lionpaw, my apprentice.”
Mistyfoot and Mosspelt’s eyes light up and Lionpaw wonders for a moment if there’s more to that then he knows. He slips down of Stormfur’s back to greet them properly, “hello!”
Mistyfoot touches nose with him, “you have Sandstorm’s eyes,” she remarks with fond purr, “is your training going well?”
Lionpaw dips his head in thanks and as a yes, “Stormfur’s teaching me a lot, he’s a great mentor.”
“I always knew he would be,” Mosspelt replies and Lionpaw watches his mentor duck his head in embarrassment, “he always had the patience.” She turns to Lionpaw, “these our Mistyfoot and my apprentices, Pebblepaw and Dapplepaw.”
“Hello!” Pebblepaw’s reply is bright and chipper and Lionpaw is struck by how friendly the tom seems to be. Dapplepaw is more subdued but no less kind when she greets him.
“Hi,” he shuffles his paws a little and Pebblepaw flicks his tail for him to come closer.
“Ah don’t let my size put you off, I’m old for an apprentice I just haven’t been made a warrior ‘cause Mosspelt likes me too much.”
“You haven’t been made a warrior because you can’t stop getting into trouble,” Mosspelt’s voice is firm but fond, “I hope Lionpaw isn’t any trouble.”
Stormfur laughs at that, “he’s got spirit but he’s not trouble.” Lionpaw gives his mentor a grateful look and is startled by the fondness in Stormfur’s gaze, “I couldn’t ask for a better apprentice.”
“I’m glad Firestar gave him to you,” Mistyfoot replies and Lionpaw nods in agreement.
Dapplepaw laughs and pokes him, “it’s good to get along with your mentor huh?”
“Do you and Mistyfoot not get along?” he asks curiously, his attention pulls away from the older cats to the other apprentices.
“Oh we do, she’s strict but she means well.” Dapplepaw glances at Pebblepaw, “’course I might be made a warrior before this one.”
Pebblepaw sticks his tongue out, “I’ll get to be a warrior someday, Leopardstar can only postpone it for so long.”
Dapplepaw leans over to Lionpaw, “you’ll be a warrior first I reckon, the way he gets into trouble.”
“Oh now she’s challenged me, mark my words Lionpaw I’ll be a warrior by next gathering.”
“Ha!” Dapplepaw scoffs and then pauses, “sorry, we haven’t let you talk much have we?”
Lionpaw shrugs his shoulders, “it’s alright, I’m still kind of overwhelmed.”
Dapplepaw and Pebblepaw nod sympathetically and Lionpaw’s grateful they understand.
“Oh hey, Brightheart’s here!” Pebblepaw sits up and Lionpaw turns to spot his Clanmate about a two foxlengths away where she’s speaking with Leafpool and Mothwing while Hollypaw, Jaypaw and its Willowpaw right? Mothwing’s apprentice are chatting.
“I haven’t seen her at a gathering before,” Dapplepaw mused, and looked at Pouncepaw, “how did you see her?”
“I think she was here for Whitewing’s first gathering as a warrior,” Pebblepaw replies.
“Is there a problem?” Lionpaw asks and they both start slightly and look guilty.
“No, we’re just surprised,” Dapplepaw assures him, “it’s good to see her though.”
“Dapplepaw thinks she’s one of the bravest Warriors in the Clans,” Pebblepaw shrugs, “I mean of ThunderClan cats she’s brave but of your Clanmates, oh you could not catch enough fish to get me to fight Brambleclaw or Dustpelt.”
“She’s here with Jaypaw, my brother, her apprentice.” Lionpaw nods to him and the older apprentices get quiet to listen to him, “he’s the blue one kind of sulking. The black she-cat’s my sister Hollypaw.”
“Well she and Willowpaw have hit it off,” Pebblepaw raises his voice, “hey Jaypaw, come on over!”
Lionpaw sees his brother start and freezes. Jaypaw can’t see he’s with Pebblepaw nor does he know who just called his name but he won’t thank Lionpaw for telling them he’s blind.
Brightheart, thankfully, nudges him their way. Jaypaw pads on over with his head cocked and manages to dodge Mistyfoot and Mosspelt.
“So you’re Brightheart’s apprentice,” Pebblepaw greets him, “Lionpaw was telling us about you.”
“Nice to meet you,” Dapplepaw shoved Pebblepaw, “I’m Dapplepaw and the loudmouth over here is Pebblepaw.”
“Hey Jaypaw,” Lionpaw says to let his brother know where he’s sitting. Jaypaw nods to him, ears flattened slightly.
“Thanks. It’s quieter over her.” Lionpaw blinks sympathetically while Jaypaw sits down.
“You’re big for an apprentice aren’t you?” he asks, blunt as ever and Pebblepaw laughs.
“Oh I like this one, I think we scared your poor brother mute with our chattering.”
“You did not!” Lionpaw defends himself hotly, “I just couldn’t get a word in!”
Dapplepaw laughs and Pebblepaw flicks his whiskers. Jaypaw twitches his ears and Lionpaw’s glad to see he looks like he’s enjoying himself more.
“I mean I know Berrypaw and his littermates are getting big but-“
“See I’m not the oldest apprentice!” Pebblepaw cuts in but Dapplepaw whacks him with her paw.
“You’re older than them and Jaypaw was talking.”
Jaypaw turns towards Lionpaw who shrugs slightly.
“Oh believe me, he’s the Clan fool but we love him anyway,” Dapplepaw shoves Pebblepaw, “now shut up. How has your training been going? Are you enjoying your first gathering?”
“It’s been good, hunting’s hard but I think I’m getting it.”
“Jaypaw you’re better at hunting than I am.”
“That’s because you’ve got huge paws and step heavy and everything hears you.”
Pebblepaw and Dapplepaw laugh and Lionpaw flattens his ears.
“He’s getting better, there’s no need to be mean to your brother Jaypaw,” Stormfur defends him and Lionpaw’s glad to have the focus shift. “Mistyfoot, Mosspelt, that’s Jaypaw. He’s Lionpaw’s brother and Brightheart’s apprentice.”
Jaypaw nods to them, Lionpaw can see them realize what he doesn’t think Dapplepaw and Pebblepaw have. The shadows Jaypaw’s sitting in kind of hide his eyes and they’re smaller than the RiverClan apprentices so as long as they’re looking up it could be hard to tell that Jaypaw’s blind.
He sees Jaypaw bristle but Stormfur continues, “Brightheart and I are very proud they’re shaping up to be an excellent pair of apprentices.”
Mistyfoot watches him a moment longer and then nods, “that’s good to hear. It’s always nice to hear ThunderClan is doing well.”
Jaypaw nods once and they turn back to the others.
“Yeah so Stormfur thinks I’m the best apprentice so training’s been great.” Lionpaw shakes his head, “he’s really patient and that’s good ‘cause Jaypaw’s right I do step too hard.”
“So does Berrypaw in your defense,” Jaypaw points out idly.
“Berrypaw does everything too loud.”
“You’re telling me.”
Dapplepaw is studying Jaypaw now and Lionpaw realizes with a start that Pebblepaw’s known the entire time that Jaypaw’s blind by the way he gently nudges his companion and nods.
“ShadowClan must hate you,” he comments and Lionpaw’s confused before he realizes the comment isn’t directed at him.
“Why’s that?” Jaypaw angles his ears and Pebblepaw huffs.
“You seem like you hear everything. ShadowClan’s all about stealth I bet they’ll never get the drop on you. That’ll really twist their tails.”
“Maybe you’d hear something if you closed your mouth once in a while,” Dapplepaw teases which Pebblepaw just shrugs off.
“I just wanted to say that ‘cause StarClan knows I’d love to see them knocked down a branch or two,” Pebblepaw’s eyes light up and Jaypaw seems confused but not upset by the tom’s odd compliment.
“’course Lionpaw looks like he could just shove some of them over,” Dapplepaw pokes his shoulder, “what are they feeding you over in ThunderClan?”
“Any ShadowClan apprentice we can catch,” Jaypaw quips and that sends Pebblepaw into a fit of laughter.
“Oh please come to the next gathering, usually it’s just me and Dapplepaw over here, you two are fantastic.”
Lionpaw looks to Dapplepaw and says, “probably just so he can brag about his new warrior name.”
“No no I mean it,” Pebblepaw moves over to make room for them, “plus you have a great view of the Great Oak from here.”
“Thanks.” Jaypaw states flatly and Dapplepaw looks embarrassed but Pebblepaw laughs.
“See, I like him.”
A loud call brings silence to the gathering and pulls their attention to the Great Oak.
Pebblepaw crouches down to talk to Jaypaw quietly, “the one speaking is Blackstar. He’s big but a bit smaller than Brambleclaw and has a narrower body. He just has longer legs.”
Jaypaw nods thoughtfully, Lionpaw looks to see that now that Pebblepaw’s mentioned it Blackstar does have kind of long legs.
He can also see that Mistyfoot and Stormfur have tensed. Mistyfoot murmurs a soft word to Mosspelt and Stormfur before slipping away to the foot of the tree. Stormfur moves over to join them, with Mosspelt on his other side gently pressing against him. Lionpaw looks up at Stormfur and gently nudges him.
Stormfur looks down at him and Lionpaw watches his mentor pull himself to his full height, eyes trained on Blackstar as he continues to speak. Lionpaw isn’t paying much attention to what he says though he hears Jaypaw hiss and ThunderClan grumble at his remarks. He’s just struck by how afraid Stormfur looks of the ShadowClan leader.
“He can’t touch you Stormfur,” Mosspelt assures him gently. “Not at the Gathering and never again.” The tortoiseshell gives a nasty look at him the kind Lionpaw’s seen leveled by Daisy and Ferncloud at anyone who speaks badly about Jaypaw and understands a bit better now.
Pebblepaw and Dapplepaw are talking with Jaypaw softly, Lionpaw hears him comment, “I think Blackstar’s confused about what side of the border his warriors have been hunting on if he thinks that’s prey rich.”
Lionpaw tries to pay attention and it’s easier once Blackstar’s done and Stormfur relaxes but he’s distracted by Jaypaw and Pebblepaw’s muttering, it seems the friendly RiverClan tom has earned his brother’s respect and Dapplepaw seemed well on her way to earning it as well.
Jaypaw’s head snaps up first and the other three apprentices follow his sightless gaze to the edge of the island. The cats near the tree bridge snarl and hiss and a wave of alarm sweeps through the Gathering. Stormfur immediately places himself between the apprentices and the tree bridge in a fighting crouch. Lionpaw rears onto his back legs to peer over Stormfur and see what was going on. He has his answer a heartbeat later when Firestar speaks.
“Stop!” he orders, “Graystripe?”

Here we have something very interesting, Warrior Cats reimagined as human beings. This drawing was done in a very stylish manga style, inspired very heavily by Japanese manga. In fact this artist is known for hosting an entire project which aims to turn Warriors characters into human beings. This concept has been done many times over in the Warriors fandom, with the most notable probably being GinjaNinjaOwO and their Tumblr blog. However, this project on amino in particular focuses on a particular art style and the designs are generally super unique! If you couldn’t guess, The character depicted here is Feathertail, one of my personal favorite characters. The original artist of this piece goes into detail on their post what the inspiration for the design was, were was Feathertail’s perseverance as a character. I think the little space buns and the flower in the hair are super adorable. The hair almost seems to reference cat ears, which is such a creative touch. Honestly I adore Feathertail and I’m so happy she got such a pretty design. Feathertail is one of those shy, quiet and kind characters that has a history. In her manga especially, she shows off a lot of personality and has a very real struggle with Leopardstar. But I don’t want to spoil to much, if you want to know what I’m referring to, check out the Shadow of Riverclan manga done by the talented James L Barry. Anyway, What’s your opinion on Feathertail? Do you love her? hate her? something in the middle? What’s your take on Warrior cats as humans? Do you like the concept or do you think it’s overdone? Leave all your thoughts in the comments below. Make sure to show the original creator some love by liking their original post. For more content such as this, consider joining the Warriors Amino!

"I promise to be the strongest, wisest leader I can be. I will do my best to echo your loyalty to RiverClan and your courage to speak out on our behalf, and I will learn from your mistakes. I know that I don’t need to prove to the other Clans that RiverClan is the strongest or most powerful. I just want my Clanmates to be happy and at peace." - Mistyfoot's thoughts about Leopardstar's death in Mistystar's Omen, chapter 2 Quote is from the Warriors Wiki.
