A second look and later look at the second story mod

So. Now after some time has past, seince we seen the second story mod. I think more of us started to see more of it's flaws. I started viewing it defenetly seince then. Now this is a sort of second look at it, after seeing what other people writing, about it, it actually helped me a lot to put the things into words.

I start with the few positivs.

I like the fect that they tryd to show off more character. We will talk about the execution of it later. Some comadic screens legitemitly made me laugh. MC. I personaly found him intresting, and I liked him for the most part, even though I will write a section about him. MC and Sachiko's friendship was nice, even if it can feel rushed at places. There were some good moment, that I still like, and remember.

Now. Let's talk about the rest.

The characterisation of the characters.

It's rather mixed in my openion. I will leave the elephants in the room out of this section. We will get to it. Raven was rather nice actually. She had little screan time, but it was still good. The screan before the boom sets off is good, and if you don't really know anything about the devs, you can think that she got killed. We know Lilith Games would't dear to kill off a character who is used in promotionals often.

I liked Trevor here, he was legitemitly funny.

Trkiki, Xuan Pin, and Xiaon Yin were also there. I'm saying this like this, because they were fearly stayd on character, whaile also having less of a screan time. So really nothing to say here from my part. I will not mention the cameos.

Freddy, Leon, and Anesidora present here was welcomed from my part. I liked them.

Abigail, and Alexa, were out of character, especially Abigail. I think it could have been better if Abigail did not give them the snow war mobile thing so soon. It was too soon in my openion. And I would't really involve her with the final. It could have been better if she stayd natural. Or at least they could have made getting her apruval a chalenge in the story.

And Yamato. I think we know the problem. I like the fect that he disgaused himself as Leon, but it just feels as if they noticed how popular he is, and put him in there in order to get a positiv reaction from the players. This was pointed out before me, so I'm not the first one who thinks this. I'm not ageinst Yamato being in there, but it's done not the best way.

And to close this segment, let's talk about the character who was introduced to us in this story. Sachiko. She is nice, she has a cute design, and a few cute moments. Nothing really. I don't blame the people who don't really care about her.

2. Gaius, Hyde, aka why don't you use your already established villians Lilith Games you cowerd?

Yeah. Let's talk about that elephant in the room. The fect that the game doas not uses the already established villians, and forget about some. This was pointed out before me.

And we all know the problem with the Gaius twist.

If they did a better job, the twist still would have been bag, but not this bad. They could have made a comperison, between them. They could have had a monolog where the two try to reason with the other by talking about Hannah, and her death. Gaius tryind to live up to her memory, to be the person she can be proud off, whaile Hyde tryind to manipulet him, buy using Hannah, in a "She would want you to be more powerfull", "This could bennifit this works, Hannah would agree with this!". This are just my ideas, so they might be bad, or cringe, or clishe, but it still doas sound better then what we got.

3. So I gues this game is an isekai now.

So I don't really feel really positiv, about the isekai stuff here. I think there could have been better execution, then him coming from an another world posably sent by truck-kun. We don't even find out about what his life was like in the other world. Which could have been be able to make the end of the story, of him deciding to work in the Esper Union more emotionaly, affter all MC is basicly giving up an entire life.

And let's not forget that, they could have made ways to write it with the isekai thing. I will say a few ideas that come to my mind.

Him coming from a small isoleted community, whit little to no conection to the outside world, and fearing it, because the community is made up of people who were experuented on, and meneged to escape from the labs. He lives there until one day they get attacked by eather miramon, or the Shadow Decree, or someone else. And eather MC being the only survivor who is now forced to leave what he called home, and face the thing he fears the outside world. Or the other survivors from the attack having been kidnaped, so now he is forced to go to the outside world to find them.

For this next idea, I would like to put out, that abuse, manipuletion, and gaslighting from a parent is mentiond.

Like he could have been a test subject, a lab rat, from a lab similar to the one Farrah was in, which would explain the reason why he is half human half miramon. If they want this could be a reason to not wanting to work with the Esper Union, with a "They didn't helped me, so why should I work with them", then with the help of Sachiko, and maybe even Gaius if it's a good idea to give him more screan time, slowly starts changing MC's openion. Or he was experiented on growing up, in the Shadow Decree by Hyde. Which could open up the option of him being Hyde's son. Eather blood releted, but I think him being a "adopted son" could be a better option. Eather by adopting him from an orphanige, kidnaping him from eather his family, or combining the two, him being kidnaped from the streets as an orphan. Hyde doing experimences on him, and being a gaslighting, manipuleting him. MC meneging to escape from him, and not trusting at first in the Esper Union, but in the story he slowly starts to trust develop an adoptive sibling realetionship with Sachiko, and an adoptiv father son realetionship with Gaius, aka finding an actually loving family. And in the end MC would stend up ageinst Hyde.

Are thise ideas posably bad, cringy, or edgy? Yes, but I think those are still more intresting. Are they recvaird to add to the already existing lore, or redcon and rewrite elements of it? Also a yes, especially in the last exemple.

And now, the end. If anyone read this through I'm sorry for waisting your time. I might do a rewrite or something (I originaly wanted to do a rewrite about Cellblock Chaos, but never actually ended up doing it). I know that the last I know it's darker, but Dislyte is not strangers to being darker, as we seen in Farrah's event, and in Hilda's event.

Okay so the theme of this school is the idea of transfer students, so there's 16 participants, some are from Yokohama (ADA and PM members) and the others are from differing groups in the BSD universe (ie Guild, DOA, ect).

I'm not sure about the order of who dies and who kills who ect ect I just think this is how it could happen:

Atsushi: Is the protag, probably survives

Akutagawa: Does not survive, I think he could be the victim in the final trial, probably saving Atsushi in the process.

Fyodor: Is the first to die (victim), I know logically he could be the antagonist or mastermind but I think it would be funny if he got the Rantaro treatment (works out who the mastermind is and is killed by someone before he can share- although I think he's just being a bitch that wanted to haunt the narrative)

Chuuya: Victim. I know he would be fully capable as a killer, but I also think he would be too obvious. I mean let's face it- His natural reaction is to lash out at people in a regular situation. In a killing game it would get so much WORSE so idk having him act on his anger would be too obvious of a plot point (he 100% gets blamed for at least one murder before he dies though). Although personal bias wants him to live.... Idk.

Kyouka: Survivor, fuck you she lives no matter what

Gin: Victim, or survivor. Not sure what to say here ngl

Akiko: Killer, she could easily pull a stunt like Mikan did in sdr2 and I love the trope of doctors that kill

Shibusawa: Killer, I don't think he's the mastermind, but I think he could be an accomplice (a bit like Mukuro) who killed someone (Fyodor) for getting too close to the truth

Dazai: The antagonist, I have no idea what he'd be in the grand scheme of things. It would be funny if he survived, it would also be fitting for him to die. He has a habit of trying to commit 'unknowing mass suicide' with the group (aka getting them to vote the wrong way) even if this means he dies. Komaeda ass mf.

Kunikida: Killer, please let me break this man so hard he can't see any other way out ......... UNLESS HE'S THE MASTERMI- *gets shot*

Kouyou: Unsure.... Survivor maybe? Plays a role like Himiko in the sense that the person (Akiko) she had a crush on dies- Although in this case Akiko is a killer so Kouyou has to come to terms with this

Fitzgerald: Victim, he's an insufferable asshole (like Byakua) but I'm taking danganronpa's mistake (letting him live) and fixing it... Although I think he would be slightly more tolerable.

Nikolai: I want to say killer but at the same time that feel obvious... So survivor? He was majorly impacted by Fyodor and Sigma's deaths but promises to carry their memory with him

Sigma: Killer. Look, I know this is probably a controversial take but Sigma's main goal in BSD is himself, and I think the same would happen in a DR au. However I don't think he'd kill unless put under threat.

Tachihara: Killer (probably), this man is like Leon in my eyes. But idk maybe that's too obvious?

What I'd love to see in the next Dead or Alive game, whenever it may come:

Arcade Mode

Eight stages minimum, fights tailored according to the character you pick to make it feel more customized. Character endings

Time Attack Mode, Survival Mode, Tag Mode and Team Battle Mode

Time Attack is self-explanatory, survival is a series staple and team battle should allow you to pick up to eight characters, seven is such a weird number? Tag mode is also a series staple and should be available for all of the above modes. Tag mode in particular was always interesting to me because I always waited to see who each character paired with! Like, you knew beforehand that Kasumi will be paired with Hayabusa and Leifang with Jann Lee but then there's the odd ones like Helena with Gen Fu or Hitomi with Zack.

Tutorial Mode

Dead or Alive has had some of the most detailed tutorial systems for the past few entries to get new players accustomed with its topnotch gameplay. Put the spotlight on it. When you boot up the game for the first time, ask players if they wanna go through the tutorial first. If they get accustomed to the mechanics early on they're much more likely to stick around.

Past DOA soundtracks

They did that first with DOA5 Ultimate and it was a great idea, especially since, at the time, Namco was actually charging money for their respective past Tekken and SoulCalibur OSTs to be available in-game for Tag 2 and SCV respectively. Tecmo had all that for free in DOA5U, you just had to play arcade mode to unlock them, and they even added more tracks in DOA5LR. DOA has always had great music so that was a clever move.

Costume variety

DOA is (in)famous for its costume variety. Have at least four different costumes per character, no palette swaps, that's just lazy. And don't go too ham with the schoolgirl / maid / police / fetish outfits.

A cohesive story mode

DOA doesn't have a bad story. The presentation for both DOA5 but DOA6 in particular however was terrible. If a player isn't already invested in the series they won't stick around to try and make sense of your weird messy random chapter unlocking story mode. You don't have to shove every single character in either. Like, Tina or Leifang or Jann Lee have nothing to do with the main story. That's why both an arcade mode with character-specific battles and an actual story mode work best alongside each other. That way you can showcase what each character is up to during the events of the game, without having to shoehorn them in the Mugen Tenshin and DOATEC storyline.

Beach Volleyball as a mini game

It's a series staple at this point. Bring it in the main games. Tekken has bowling so DOA can have beach volleyball. Let the guys play too. I mean imagine picking Bayman and Leon and going up against a team of Bass and Marie Rose. Hilarious! DOA can be fun and sexy without being ridiculous about it.

Galar:Años despues es ahi donde Zacian y Zamazenta llegaron. Los acojieron a todos con una calida Bienvenida. Zacian al principio despues de perder a Su Rey y lo mismo por Zamazenta le dió palabras de aliento

Un Amor despierta ante estos 2 Legendarios

Despues de ser familia unida los pequeños crecieron y dijeron adiós antes de despedirse prometieron que nunca los olvidará

Zacian y Zamazenta vivieron juntos cumpliendo la promesa de Sus pequeños Sucesores que Crecieron. Junto a un nuevo entrenador. Pero volvieron a tener Relaciones hasta besar su hocico su amor es eterno e inquebrantable.

I saw this and immediately thought of the Neo Geo Pocket, so the aim for the style as I saw from your tags was well captured.

So many of my favourite DOA characters here with Kokoro and Eliot looking lovely and Leon having such a cool pose. The animation on Kasumi is fantastic; well done capturing her design in sprite form.

Here are a few miscellaneous DoA-themed things I've made, because I feel like it:

The Kasumi is the most recent; I made that today. Might try and make a full spritesheet, if I feel like it. The Bayman/Leon and Kokoro/Eliot ones are older, about a few months apart.

Talking about character designs from Dislyte: Leon

So Leon is one of those character designs, where you can tell what he is, but you can't really tell which mythological figure's esper he is. If anyone here who doas not know he is the esper of Vali.

Regards to this, his character design is still pretty good. You can tell that he is a sniper, an assasine. His colour palette is simple, and combined with his chlots it's militaristic. He has runes on him. And one of the better elements of his disgne is his gun. It resembles a saxofon. So a little bit of visual story telling thing.
