That time Life imitated art so you decided to use it for your benefit.   Yesterday I had call my bank to get a new debit card issued, as I accidentally ran over the previous one.   I know... I wish i were kidding.  I modified the story slightly.   I was coming out the grocery store.  Mia was getting gas.  There are creepy men in both that decided to see would a woman crawl under a car in a dress instead of help.  Both Mia and myself decided not to show our goodies to the world so we are ordering new cards instead.  We regret nothing.  told you i would totally use it @burnsoslow​

First Fight

Pop’s Place  Chapter 8

Mia turned on her car.  Great… she had to stop for gas.

She went to Sheetz to fill up her tank. 

 Looking in her wallet, she didn’t see her debit card.

“Shit.”  When she went to Old Navy with Daniel the other day she remembered putting her debit card in her pocket.  She fished through her wallet.  Pops had made her a user for his credit card  only for emergencies.  She filled up the tank. As she walked back to her car, she stumbled, sending her  card flying under her car.  

“Seriously?”

She couldn’t see it under her car.  When she glanced up, she saw some guys watching her laughing.  

She was not about to crawl under her car, in her dress.  She thought the best thing to do was move her car.  She moved her car enough to see her credit card.

Mia cheered…. Until she turned her card over seeing all the scuff marks on it where her tire had pushed the card into the asphalt.

“How the hell did you run over your credit card MIA?!?!?!?!?” Pops yelled at her.

Mia burst into tears.

“Could you please not yell at me right now, I’m having a really shitty day.”  

“And apparently you forgot where you were, because you would know you don’t use that type of language in my house.”  

The doorbell rang.  “And who the hell is this?”

Mia smirked at Pops.

“I bought this house so I can use whatever language in it I want.”

“Who the hell are you?” Pops said when he flung the door open.

Leo didn’t miss a beat.  

“Leo Rys sir, I was at Mrs. Jones’s birthday party.”  

“Mia it’s one of your little boyfriends.  I can’t keep track of this anymore.”

“Liam’s not with me, before you ask.”

“Why are you here Leo?”

“I feel like some of this is my fault Mia.  I should have stayed out of it.   I think you green lighted Liam too soon because of what I told you. And I’m sorry for that.”

“Drake claims he wasn’t on the beach with her. He said it was raining almost the whole trip.”

“And I didn’t see the pictures. They were gone when I looked.  Mollie is not going to tell the truth.  Liam might.”  

“I don’t think I can trust either of them right now.”  

“Then don’t.  Take some time to figure out what you want to do.  As long as you hang out with me.  I am sure I could get Hana, and Jaiden, and Daniel and Penny and we could all have a good time together. No Drake or Liam.  Just us cool kids, and you’re gonna drink damnit!”

University Student Ellie Chapter 2

While Riley was in the stall she heard a woman crying.

Riley came out of the stall and washed her hands.  

"Are you alright?" Riley asked.

"I told myself I wasn't going to cry today,  and this is the fifth time already.  We just dropped our son off at his dorm. He's on the football team. It feels like just yesterday, he was a baby. Now he's taller and bigger than I am."

"My daughter will be coming here next month.  We're trying to help set up stuff for her."

"This early?"

"We're from out of the country. My husband is from Cordonia."

"I have heard of it, famous for its apples."

"We are. Hi I'm Riley Rys."

"Emily Powell. Nice to meet you."

"I'm sure I will be in your shoes shortly, it still isn't sinking in, my baby girl is going to be going to college."

It was as if saying it made it real for Riley.

Both women burst into tears.

They walked arm in arm to their husband's that were laughing and talking . Both men jumped up running to their prospective wives.

"What on earth happened?" Liam looked at Riley in concern.

"Our baby is going to college."

Both husbands consoled their wives. After Riley and Emily were calm they all made formal introductions. Riley and Liam of course omitted they were King and Queen.

Liam and Riley hit it off with  the Powell’s so much that they planned on having dinner with them that evening.  They recommended a great steak house.   As every time Riley came to the states she always wanted  a great steak.  

They had a few hours before dinner, after they had left the electronics store, to authorize purchase from some items they knew they wanted for Ellie’s room.  50 inch flat screen tv.  New laptop and stereo system.  Things she had at home that they wanted to make sure she did not feel without at school.  

Finally they were able to go back to the hotel for a little bit.  

When Riley came out of the bathroom, She was completely shocked at Liam.  Liam had stripped completely naked and was standing in front of the air conditioning unit with his arms stretched out.  

“Liam..... WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?!?!?!?”

“Riley.”  Liam said in his serious Kingly voice. “My balls have been hot since 8:30AM this morning, and they need to breathe.”

“And you playing the song blowing in the wind, is for irony?”  

“It soothes me.  Besides, it kind of is right now.”

Riley burst out laughing.  “And people think I’m the one that’s over the top.  It’s really, you Liam Rys.”

Fast Forward Chapter 13

Later that day as Riley was heading down the hall she heard screaming coming from Nico's room. She turned the door knob, being unlocked, she walked in. She heard Nicolai's loud cries. Nico was holding a crying Nicolai in his arms trying to soothe him.

"He has nightmares. He was in the car with her.. when she…."

"Want me to try?" Riley asked softly.

Nico nodded his eyes full of tears. "I don't know how…It hurts seeing him like this."

She traded positions with Nico, pulling Nic into her arms.  Nic clung tight to her, Riley's voice was soft and soothing and reassuring.  Nic started to calm almost immediately.  Riley ran her fingers through his hair and gently kissed his forehead.  “It’s ok Nic, we’re here. It was just a bad dream. You’re here, and you’re safe.  His little body was still shaking.  “You’re safe, I promise. Close your eyes." She whispered.

She began to sing to him the lullaby that Liam had taught her that she always sang to their children, rocking him in her arms.  She felt Nicolai's tense little body start to relax in her arms. Riley's voice changed to a soft hum. Just before she felt his body go limp, he said "I missed you Mommy."

She gently laid Nic back into his bed pulling the covers up on him.  Both walked out of the room in silence, as both had heard what Nic said.

“Nico…...”  

“I know Riley… I know.”

King of Prism SSS Episode 6 commentary (Minato)

The final episode of Part 2!

This was originally my favorite of the three episodes we are shown in the theatrical “Part 2″. But it was also the one I was most awake for at the time haha. Nowadays I think Joji’s is probably my favorite of the Part 2 episodes, but this one still has a very, very special place in my heart......... AS BIG AS THE OCEAN.......... 

And right off the bat we’re referencing the hidden curry subplot in Pride the Hero. Well, maybe it was obvious to some people, but I definitely wouldn’t have fully known about this subplot without reading about it. Basically early on in Pride the Hero there is a scene where Hiro casually refuses to eat Minato’s curry. Minato can be seen working on his recipe during the movie, but in the end it’s Kouji’s honey/apple curry recipe which gets Hiro back on his feet. Minato sees this as a failure on his part. 

If there is ever a scene where anyone is crying (there will be a few more examples of this before the end of SSS) take a look at Leo. If anyone else is crying, it’s basically guaranteed that Leo is also crying too. He doesn’t even know why Minato is crying here!!! LeoooooOOO..............

Everyone always cheers for Taiga here! Good job.

Okay, according to the Part 2 pamphlet, from left to right...

Misaki, Nagisa, Gen, Kou, Shiho. 

They all have sort of marine-related names. (cape, shore, broadside of a ship, sailing, saltwater...)

And these two we already met in Young of Prism. 

(Ushio means tide, Tsubasa means wing....)

I really love the voice work on Shiho here. She really sounds so natural. So cute. Favorite Minato sibling.

I know I said Yukinojo’s grandpa was best King of Prism old man, but I’m not sure anymore. Minato’s grandpa is also in the running ahah. I love his intense drama and yet down to typical old man-ness at the same time. HAVE A FISH.

OVER RAIN

Okay this one is forgivable because he says their abbreviated name “O-Ba-Re” which I always struggle to translate. Usually I just spell it all out or put OtR.

It was established in this episode that Minato can taste when something has been made with love. 

This means that Yamada-san’s ramen noodles were clearly MADE WITH LOVE at least.

I think at one point I posted a shitty out of context spoiler about the DARK HISTORY of Edel Rose. Here you go ahah. 

The cheering audience loves Yukinojo’s reaction here. Everyone be like.... nu nu nu nu nu nu..............

This is the only time I know Taiga has been associated with soba except for when they just kind of decided to make it his food item on Prism Rush........ (because I guess pudding a la mode wasn’t a thing back then..............) 

Minato’s reaction is notably a bit more low key than the other boys during Kakeru’s turn.

Kakeru’s catering WASNT MADE WITH LOVE 

Every time I see this I think to myself that I have got to figure out where this is and go there. But I haven’t yet. 

Shizuoka isn’t that far from me and I go there every few months or so for Love Live stuff or to visit Shizuoka Prism Stone, etc. A few days before Part 2 premiered I was actually in Shizuoka and actually spent a good amount of time thinking of things I might see from Shizuoka in Minato’s episode. I was at a tourist attraction (Izu-Mito Sea Paradise) where I went to the snack bar and noticed they had Mishima croquettes. It was the first time I had heard of them. But I decided on something else instead. 

So every time I see this, I think......... should have got the croquette....... 

(and now I must live with the regret.............. forever......................) 

I talk a lot about how this or that is art in SSS. 

But Minato meeting Kouji REALLY IS ART 

In the stream someone called this a “prismgasm” and now I can’t get that out of my head thanks.................................

I love how Minato is not the first, but SECOND Edel Rose boy just entered into Edel Rose against his will by a family member ahaah. (After Taiga by his sister.) 

Okay so, let’s pause for a minute. 

As you can see here this is a senior high school application. So this means Minato was never in the junior high division of Kakyouin Academy and went straight to senior high. 

If we rewind back to Kakeru’s episode, you’ll remember that there was a flashback where Yukinojo met Kakeru back in the heyday of Edel Rose, and they were both wearing junior high uniforms. So this means that a.) The first member of the seven to enter Edel Rose was probably Yukinojo and b.) Kakeru and Yukinojo are the two who have known each other the longest. 

I don’t think you can make an exact timeline of who joined when, but it’s possible to piece together a rough estimate of the order everyone joined by the end of SSS.

So this actually destroys my headcanon that the reason Minato calls Kakeru “Kazuo” is because they have known each other the longest and he knew him before he was Kakeru. So now I don’t know what to think about that anymore ahah. 

Anyway Minato why are you taking the Shinkansen to Tokyo. It’s only like 3 hours from Shizuoka!!! That is insanely close (...... from my perspective...............) what a waste of money haha. 

Favorite Minato face of all time by far. 

Oh gosh this scene. This scene. Where do I even begin. I love, LOVED seeing this side of Minato. He’s always everyone’s rock (excuse me harbor) so it’s really mindblowing to actually see him all nervous and flustered and just oh gosh it made me love him so much more. 

And not to mention Kouji just dragging a boy he’s known for three seconds to eat a children’s lunch......

Everyone goes nuts for this at cheering and agrees they still want to eat this kind of lunch as an adult. I guess I don’t quite understand because I was never a child in Japan haha. But this was the only moment at the mostly quiet 8am showing (when I saw it for the first time) where I could hear people laughing/freaking out.

I have mentioned this already but I just have to say I really love this line. This moment. This whole concept. Minato can taste love. 

I didn’t think it was noticeable from Young of Prism, but when we actually met all of Minato’s siblings and saw that Tsubasa is basically the only one who doesn’t have a marine color scheme or a directly marine-related name.... Even before this scene in the back of my head I was like..... hm...... 

The least they could have done was given her a marine-themed name geez

I had to go back and slightly change some wording in my Young of Prism translation because of this reveal.

It’s not “a” new dorm, he’s probably talking about the new dorm that the new boys still live in (but our seven moved back here by choice in episode 1 remember........)

This is another scene where I’m kinda wondering if this plot thread seems sudden or out of place to people who don’t know the side materials. 

Minato’s confidence issues have come up on Prism Rush several times before, and I was actually waiting the entire episode for it to come up here. 

This episode in particular really requires a lot of extracurricular homework doesn’t it....

I believe this is mistranslated. He used ~すら which I think should be “All I could do is watch......” JLPT N1 textbook grammar Minato why......

The least they could do would be to leave a note that says “Minato” means “harbor” but that’s TOO MUCH TIME I GUESS GOTTA GET THOSE EPISODES OUT IN AN HOUR CHOP CHOP

I really like this speech. It’s shockingly down to earth and refreshing. Especially compared to Kakeru and Yukinojo’s episodes. 

Like the other members of the old dudes club, Minato’s family has a tradition too. But Minato is not particularly expected to carry on that tradition since his family realizes it’s no longer viable 

Instead they encourage Minato to enjoy his youth, find himself, and if he doesn’t become a star that’s OK.... of course he can come home anytime. 

Nrrrgggghhaaaaaa such good supportive parents ahhhhhhh

Been waiting a couple months to read this. In the theater all I can ever catch is Shin’s message. (But still the point comes across.) 

“Well that was fast” - the cheering audience (about the sunrise, ruining this beautiful scene lol)

THIS.... SHOW.........

So, a while back I casually mentioned that Kakeru and Taiga’s prism shows were in my top three. Nobody ever asked what the third one was. But. It was this one. I LOVE this show.

From the very moment Minato looks up at the camera here I just get goosebumps from head to toe, and it just stays throughout the entire show. No other prism show has ever made me feel quite this way. 

So towards the end of the Prism Rush Main Story, there is a chapter where the boys are talking about what they want to accomplish in the Prism King Cup. (This is before they know who will be in it.) Minato has a line where he talks about wanting to perform a show like warm soup or something, and as soon as I saw this show I just immediately remembered that line and thought THATS IT.

Even though there are so many cool colors, somehow, it just makes me feel so.... warm. 

Although it didn’t stay for as aggressively long as Joji’s did, this was the first song from Part 2 which got stuck in my head and it’s just... it’s so nice........

Also, even though I have complained about Minato always getting stuck in chef uniforms for his performance outfits I do kinda like this one. It’s the floating jellyfish scarf thing at the back that makes it I think. (I have no idea how else to describe that.) 

I hope he gets a sailor suit next time though eheh. (I like how Minato has a marine theme now too, not just food. Well, he probably always did but it’s more prominent now.)

So Minato technically lost to Joji, but the individual match-ups mean nothing in the long run. (Except for you know..... the last one...... when it’s down to the wire and each side has put up their strongest member...............if you remember who that match-up is--)

It may not be obvious at first, but Minato’s prism show was pretty low leveled compared to the other boys. 

(He did start doing prism shows later than most of them after all... Um Shin being a special case.) 

He only did two jumps and they weren’t even connected. So that being considered, this score is pretty amazing for him. It makes me think the Shuffle members must only be doing like one jump per show to be scoring in the 7000s geez. 

And thus the curry plot goes full circle. Minato, good for you. 

Thus ends what I know as the Part 2 episodes, and also the halfway mark of the series. (There are 12 episodes in all.) Ready or not, on to Part 3.

I really like and have been looking forward to the Part 3 episodes. I think they are a little better than Part 2, but maybe not quite as good as Part 1. I also think Part 3 is possibly the most heart-wrenching collection.... Leo’s episode in particular, which is coming up next week, I have a very strong and personal reaction to. That combined with feeling the need to point out all the PriPara references may mean my post for next week may take some extra time and be frighteningly long ahah..... ha.......

The two dragons were lured into the pit and fell asleep. They were now trapped and became entombed in Dinas Emrys. Centuries later, a new king wanted to build a fortress upon the mountain containing to dragons, unbeknownst to him. He build the fort yet the strong stone kept crumbling and he didn’t know why. He was told by a false magician to sacrifice a fatherless boy and only then would the fortress hold. A boy name Merlin was chosen. Merlin, outraged, told the king of the true reason his fortress kept crumbling. The king’s masons excavated the mountain and in doing so, released the dragons where they continued their battle once again.

Cancer: Raitro- Japanese legend tells of a poor Japanese peasant who prayed to the Buddha for rain, as they were suffering a drought and his crops were failing. Suddenly the heavens opened and the rain came down, accompanied by a loud clap of thunder. The peasant went outside to look and saw a handsome baby lying on the grass. As there was nobody around, the peasant and his wife adopted the child and called him Raitro. From then on whenever there was a lack of rain, Raitro would simply call the clouds and order them to rain, making his adoptive family rich. When Raitro reached the age of 18, he thanked his foster parents for their care, turned into a white dragon, and flew away.

Leo: Chinese Dragon- The Chinese dragon is snake-like with some characteristics of fish and turtles. They can cause natural disasters like storms, tidal waves and floods. China is home to the mythical Dragon Gate, and it is said that carp who are able to leap over it become dragons. Chinese Emperors were thought to be descendants of the mythical beasts. Chinese dragons are thought to be born every 12 years and have the ability to breathe clouds. They can also appear in human form. Unlike in many other cultures, dragons in China were thought to be benevolent creatures who bring good fortune. The natural enemy of the Chinese dragon is the tiger and these two creatures are depicted having bloody battles in many Chinese art pieces. In Chinese martial arts, "Dragon style" is used to describe styles of fighting based more on understanding movement, while "Tiger style" is based on brute strength and memorization of techniques.

Virgo: Gargouille- Gargouille was a sea serpent with membranous fins instead of limbs. It emerged from the Seine River began to spew water onto the country side. The Gargouille then created a giant tidal wave and whatever the water did not kill, the dragon ate it for its meal. The archbishop of Rouen, St. Romain, intended to put a stop to the problem. The Gargouille lived in a cavernous lair in the banks of the Siene River, and he intended to travel there to stop the dragon from continuing its plague. No one wanted to accompany him on his quest. Instead, he took with him two prisoners condemned to death. When they got to its lair, its attacked ferociously. However, the creature became docile when shown a cross made from two of St. Romain’s fingers. They were able to put a rope around its neck and bring it back to the town. They burned the creature and cast the ash back into the Siene River. Ever since then, the drains that divert the rainwater from the roof of a church building have been decorated as monstrous entities and been called gargoyles.

Libra: Zmey Gorynych- In Slavic mythology, the Zmey Gorynych was a monstrous dragon. It has three heads and it sometimes confused for a hydra. It often played the antagonistic role in Russian literature, appearing beast or human-like and wooing women. In Ukraine, the rainbow is said to be controlled by the Zmey Gorynych and is used as a sort of tunnel that sucks water from lakes and rivers and is put into the sky as clouds. The Zmey Gorynych is also said to be able to create tornados by whipping around its tail. Both the male and female dragons were said to sometimes be involved in human relationships.

Scorpio: Tarasque- Reported as being the son of the Leviathan, the Tarasque was known as the tyrannical dragon that tormented the people of southern France during the first century. It is a dragon with a gigantic head, a shell with sharp spikes and six legs. It can live within both land and water and would frequent the Rhône River where it would sink ships and devour the passengers. It’s hard shell protects it from anyone who tries to kill it. It also has the ability to breathe fire and would cook anyone who got too close. Its tail contains poison similar to that of a scorpion.

Sagittarius: Zilant- The Zilant is a legendary creature that is something between a wyvern and a dragon. It has been the official symbol of Kazan since 1730. According to legend, a beautiful damsel married a resident of Old Kazan. She went to fetch water from the river and complained to the local ruler that his town was poorly situated and to move to the city of Zilantaw Hill. He agreed, however the hill was infested with snakes with a leader with two heads named Zilant. One head ate only grass while the other ate youths and virgins. The ruler put straw and wood near the hill and in spring when the snakes came out, they set fire to the pile, killing the snakes. However, Zilant escaped to the Qaban lakes where he now resides. From time to time, he will crawl back out and take vengeance by devouring many citizens.

Capricorn: Cockatrice- The Cockatrice is a two-legged dragon with the head of a rooster. It is the product of an egg laid by a rooster that was incubated by a toad or snake. It possesses the ability to kill people just by looking at them, known as the “death-darting eye of the Cockatrice”, as well as being able to kill just by touching or breathing on them. The only creature immune from the death glance of the Cockatrice is the weasel. This dragon can only die if it looks at itself in the mirror or if it hears the crow of a rooster.

Aquarius: Nāga- Nāga, or the Sanskrit word for “snake”, is regarded as a demon-serpent. It is usually described as a five-headed dragon that guards temples. Nāgas have jewels in their hoods, necks or heads. The jewel forms in the throat and is used to emit a bright light when the Nāga needs to see in the dark. They also have a deadly venom with a destructive nature similar to fire. The venom is so deadly that even a Nāga’s breath or stare could cause harm or death. However, Nāgas only harm when mistreated so many superstitions exist solely to warn to not provoke the creature.

Pisces: Imugi- The Imugi is a dragon from Korean mythology. They start out as serpents and transform into dragons if they are able to survive past 1000 years old. They would submerge themselves under cold waters for a millennium in order to achieve this. Once transformed, they would be able to fly the skies and create massive storms with their roars. Unlike their European flire-breathing counterparts, Imugis are said to reside in rivers, lakes, oceans and even deep ponds. They are bringers of rain and clouds. They are said to be large, benevolent, python-like creatures and their sighting is associated with good luck.
