Idk which post y’all are talking about where someone said Will was being a dick at rink-o-mania but if you want to argue that Will wasn’t being a dick then Mike wasn’t either🤷‍♀️

Simply since the only reason y’all think Will wasn’t being a dick is because we got those scenes from his perspective. We know why and how excited Will was to see Mike so when Mike doesn’t hug him at the airport we feel with Will and how disappointed he is. From then on he’s moping, barely talking and rolling his eyes at everything and that’s a fact like, Mike wasn’t exaggerating at all and Will also doesn’t deny it but tells him how uncomfortable thirdwheeling made him feel. And we’ve seen Will third wheeling throughout the whole of those scenes so we understand why Will is acting like a dick which is why y’all are so quick to excuse his actions and say he wasn’t being a dick. Even though he actually did behave like an asshole (ignored Mike the whole day) to the point where Mike told him that he sabotaged the day for him! Here we get Mike’s perspective of the day for the first time and I’m honestly baffled by how quick y’all are to excuse Will’s actions at rink-o-mania and defend him just because there’s a reason to his actions but despite the fact that we literally talk about Mike’s reasons for his own actions on here almost every single day y’all still label him as a dick???? Still label him as “the bad guy” because “just because he has reasons to act the way he does doesn’t mean he wasn’t still being a dick” but somehow that doesn’t apply to Will???

And I’m really not trying to be mean here but y’all really need to get your perspectives straight because I will never understand how people get mad over the fact that Mike said Will ruined his day and not Angela even though the answer to that is literally at hand! Rink-o-mania was only a fraction of the whole day and Will basically ignored and rolled his eyes at Mike ever since Mike arrived in Lenora! Yes, Mike is to blame for this because of that weird ass airport hug but just because there’s a reason as to why Will acted like a dick doesn’t mean he wasn’t still acting like a dick!! And he was acting like one throughout the whole fucking day! Airport, drive to the breakfast burrito place, stay at the breakfast burrito place, drive to rink-o-mania and stay at rink-o-mania. Will barely talked to Mike throughout all of that so of course that’s what sabotaged the day for Mike and not Angela because 1). Will has been Mike’s closest friend since forever and during the months they spent apart from each other they lost contact for which both are to blame equally as much! So Mike was probably feeling anxious and unsure about wether Will actually missed him/still cared about him! 2). That’s one reason why Mike was kinda icing Will out at the airport and I can imagine that he didn’t even fully pick up on how excited Will was at first since he was focused on acting indifferent. And 3). Will’s demeanor changed instantly to icing Mike out so from Mike’s perspective it seemed like Will wasn’t happy to see him which confirmed Mike’s fear that Will doesn’t care about him anymore. And like, Mike never acted like Angela bullying El wasn’t horrible! But quite frankly, realizing that my best friend doesn’t care about me anymore while I still care so much about them would absolutely crush my whole day above anything else too because that’s the kind of hurt that runs deep! Especially when you add to that that Mike is in love with Will! That’s why Mike uses El’s name instead of his own when confronting Will! He did it to protect his own feelings. And y’all think Mike didn’t realize he was being stupid when Will told him about the thirdwheeling? Didn’t get the biggest reality check that it was his own fault that Will was icing him out? He 100% did! And that look Mike gives Will after “Well what about us?” that everyone goes feral over to this day? That’s when Mike realizes that Will does actually still care about him and their connection and it overwhelms him that Will was able to look right through him so he’s getting defensive again! Mike ices out Will again which is why Will thinks he was wrong in assuming that Mike was hurt that he didn’t talk to him! “You don’t have to say anything, I was being a total jerk to El, I deserved it” that’s what Will says after Mike tries to apologize! Will is not the one apologizing for acting like a dick to Mike not because he wasn’t acting like one, but because at that moment he still didn’t get that the point was that he hurt Mike! That’s why Mike tells Will that he feels like he lost him! He realized that him icing Will out lead to Will icing him out and that’s why he’s like no look Will, you didn’t deserve what I said to you because I understand why you acted the way you did so let me tell you why I acted the way I did! That’s mostly the reason why Will is tearing up in that scene, not only because Mike apologizes but because Mike let’s him know that he still cares about him deeply!!

So they both had good reasons to act like dicks to each other but they also both still acted like dicks! Yes, Will too!

Lenora finds N sometime in early spring, he’s somewhere between Nacrene city and Striaton city with his furret (normal type trainer n my beloved)

So somewhere on route three

She realises that this boy she’s found has lived in the wilderness for a long time and by the looks of it he’s scared of her

Lenora assumes that it’s because of past experiences and why he might have ended up there

She decides not to physically approach him, Lenora doesn’t want him to get scared or violent

So the gym leader slowly but surely begins to gain the trust of this small feral child by giving him food and just chatting to him (even if she’s talking to herself)

N finally opens up to her one day and says “I can hear what they say to me”

Lenora watches as his furret and her watchog mess around with each other with interest because she can see this small child (I���d say he’s about 7/8ish) is watching them interact with such ferocity but with a fondness in his eyes

“They’re enjoying themselves, especially your watchog she enjoys being with others”

And she’s just shocked because he’s telling her the truth, yes her watchog loves to be surrounded by her teammates and her trainer

Its then Lenora knows she needs to protect this kid from any harm that could befall him in the world

she asks him a few times if he wants to join her

he says no, until one day he says yes

but only because “furret trusts you to not hurt us”

So Lenora takes him home, introducing him to her husband Hawes who already adores him from what she’s spoken to him about the boy

And that’s how it starts, N begins to grow up with Lenora and Hawes automatically becoming Lenora’s heir to the Nacrene city gym

I'm rewatching my fave ds9s and I'm at rejoined and this is gonna be a senseless ramble but OH. MY. there are woman. Kissing???!!? I forgot how much I loved this episode dude. Even putting aside the meta of how this has the first same sex kiss in star trek and the even further queer/trans coding of the episode, this is such a tragic story. And it's a real one. You dont need to be an alien to be forced away from your saphic lover cause of a social taboo. I always get so worked up over the stupidest shit like, when I see a lot of people agree with something I disagree with I all of a sudden enter my god era and get the burning urge to state my opinion as if it mattered and like, nobody fucking asked but I guess I’m already halfway through writing a fucking essay on a topic that isn’t that serious but somehow still makes my blood boil only to later be drained of all motivation to continue writing let alone post my “essay” because I start getting anxious that maybe I’m just stupid because literally nobody cares and while I will absolutely 100% continue to think my opinion is the fucking gospel truth I will also simultaneously start to overthink like, what if my media literacy is actually shit and what I’m saying is super illogical AND WHAT IF MY FAVORITE BLOGS THINK I’M FUCKING STUPID FOR POSTING THAT?!?!?!?

black and white 3: Gym Challenge

Unova is the only region to show more than 8 gyms in both the games and the anime so I think it’s be awesome to have the be the first to have more than 8 gyms for the player to challenge.

New Things

Pick up the trend of having no set Gym Order, but have the player able to pick from 3 home towns, one on each peninsula(?). Typically what ever gyms closest to it would be the player’s “First” gym but it isn’t entirely necessary to do so.

The hometown of the player is based on the Starter selected, as Prof. Bianca (Aspen) has shipped the pokemon to you with a note to meet her to get a newly minted pokedex.

Traveling across Unova is made easier as you can travel around across Unova via Gear Station early on OR the newly introduced Braviary/Mandibuzz Taxi

the Taxi Cab drivers and Depot Agents hate each others guts with a BURNING passion

There is also the Cirrus Ferry: boat that transports people from Virbank to Castelia and vice-versa

here’s where you would see Roxie’s dad as Captain as one of the boats, having found this a more reliable source of income than fishing

The Gyms

You only need 8 badges but Each Gym offers a TM/HM that the player may or may not want/need to explore Unova

The number of Gym Badges a player has determines the difficulty of the Gym Trainers and the Gym Leader’s Team (like how it’s implied to be in the manga/anime)

Agreed though “Should I stay or should I go” will forever be the Will Byers song for me! Simply because it also holds more significance for the narrative {what I mean is that it’s actually part of the story and not just a poster on the wall. And not even really that either because the poster is of the whole album and not just that one song. Though of course I know the songs fits and foreshadowed Will’s s4 arc but it’s simply not a part of the story like “Should I stay or should I go” is}.

Just looking at what is explicitly shown to us in canon, it’s rather interesting that they made “Boys don’t cry” associate with Will and “Smalltown boy” associate with Mike because {again, looking at specific scenes in the show} it feels like it should be the other way around, shouldn’t it?

Like, “boys don’t cry” is so rain-fight-from-mike’s-perspective coded and “smalltown boy” fits perfectly with what we’ve seen about how the town treats Will in s1 {“you were the one that they’d talk about around town as they put you down”}.

I can’t tell if it was completely intentional but I can imagine that they made sure to make an association between Mike and a song that fits Will exceptionally well, and between Will and a song that fits Mike exceptionally well (both based on what we’ve explicitly been shown in canon) to draw a connection between Mike and Will’s internal struggles? To hint at the fact that there’s something both of them share (being gay) within their different experiences {and it’s both pretty subtle too.“Boys don’t cry” is quickly shown on a poster in Will’s room and “smalltown boy” is the first song on Mike’s playlist which is supposed to describe his character and arc}. So of course both songs came to fit both characters exceptionally well as the seasons went on!

Another thing I wanted to add is that simply already the title “Boys don’t cry” doesn’t really fit Will’s character which is why it kinda threw me off at first because we know that Will is a sensitive person who has no problem with showing his emotions through something like crying. So I personally think that apart from the fact that “hiding the tears in my eyes” was clearly foreshadowing the van scene, the inclusion of “Boys don’t cry” might overall more so stand for something else that boys are not supposed to do…..

Okay I'm curious: in everyone's opinion what is the Will Byers song, the Mike Wheeler song, and the Byler song?

For me the Will Byers song is Boys Don't Cry (with Should I Stay or Should I Go being in second place), the Mike Wheeler song is Smalltown Boy, and the Byler song is Heroes.

OC Evolution Tag - The Beaus and The Asvang

Prior to doing The Davis Legacy, back in July 2022, I've written a story about vampires in the modern world, where Lady Lana Beau had just reawakened from her slumber. Valentina had awakened first, and was living quite well, but she had fallen in love with a werewolf and had been hiding her identity. She was looking for a way to "cure" her vampirism. In this "pilot" story, Lady Lana sought to revive her House as well, seeking to turn her family's human descendant, Zed Waylon, which is through a turned-mortal Lenora. Anyway, she ended her life in the end by burning herself, but made sure she casted a powerful spell on Zed that will keep him safe from other vampires, down to his last generation. Lady Lana was kind of sweet in this pilot story, honestly.

I think the only element that I reused in my current story was Lana seeking to rebuild her clan. The looking for a cure part only stayed with Lenora, and not to Val. The rest was removed, though I had character sheets, which I've been basing on for my current story.

First we start with Valentina. As I initially intended to share only her evolution.

Valentina Asvang's pilot character design:

This was her first design. Literally different from our Valentina now. Still, her history is just the same. An Asvang that worked hard that her power evolved. This was also the time where my sim-making is just me clicking the face templates in CAS and just tweaking them a little bit.

Valentina Asvang now:

One of my magnum opuses. She was the second character I remade for my story, and I remember messing around in CAS, and then everything just fell into place! Everything clicked. And behold, Valentina Asvang is reborn.

Beau Sisters, pilot and now:

On the first picture, from top to bottom: Lorraine, Lenora, and Lana. On the second picture, from top to bottom: Lenora, Lana, Lorraine. On their first designs, they actually had rounded and chubby faces. On their current and final version, I remade them. Lenora was based on Lana, and Lorraine was based on Lenora.

Lady Lana Beau, and her path to the current design:

Her first design was revolved around that vampire pack hair. I actually had to look for long hair CC to complement it for when her hair is down!

That vampire hair returned in her "back-in-the-day" look:

Anyway, I remade her in February 2023. She actually had a lot of tattoos back then! The first vampire to receive a redesign. Her soft features were replaced with dramatic, angular features. I wanted her to look fierce, but still the same "Enchanting Lady" that will reel you in, make you feel warm in her embrace...before you meet your end.

Fast forward to now!

I removed her tattoos :( perhaps some day she'd have it back?

Lady Lorraine and Lenora:

In the pilot and in the current story, Lorraine had always been a "blank" slate to me. Although I have written something for her, where she the most powerful in her family, that she had to be contained by marriage to Vlad, I still haven't written enough to fully realize her. All I know is that, she bore one son, named Hugo, and from what I remember from the back of my head, this Hugo was weak, like a powerful father and a powerful mother cancelled out, bearing a weak child. I also remember Lorraine being distraught for this, and will not leave her bedchamber, leaving Hugo to Vlad's care.

Lenora is still the same Lenora from before. The same vampire that wanted to love freely, that studied and sought that one thing that will turn her to mortal and live and die with her one true love. In the first iteration of the story, Lenora successfully did it, leaving behind many descendants, up to Zed Waylon. Now, her cure failed, damaging her energy and being, which left her to a state where only a handful of memories were retained in her head. She never bore a child.

These are the sheets that help me rebuild their characters in my current story. Though I don't fully base on it, it's a good reference for me.

No worries, I’m just a joy kill regarding these things 🕺

Like, I get specifically mad when people suggest or push that Will is into sports when the show specifically points out that he isn’t (have ranted about this before and I have another rant about this in my drafts lmao). It’s just especially annoying in regards to the letterman jacket because those became very popular fashion in the 80s and you didn’t need to be in a sports team to own one (just like today) so the fact that so many people (not you) just disregard what’s happening in the show and pretend that the st experience has “confirmed” that Will is into sports just because he’s wearing a letterman jacket… I can’t.

I also think people often forget that Will is an outsider because he isn’t the main bullying target in Lenora like he used to be in Hawkins. So while I get the fanfic potential of these things, Will joining a team is off limits (like you said) and him getting adopted by a nice jock seems highly unlikely to me. Will did not have any friends in Lenora and part of this is him being afraid to be the main bullying victim again, but the other part is just people not wanting to be his friends! And I say this in one of my drafts as well: did people never wonder why no one beside the party wanted to get to know Max? It’s because people don’t like new people and this is very probably also exactly what happened in Lenora with Will. He is the new kid so people keep their distance. Will is a sweet guy but most people don’t like him and he gets majorly ignored in Lenora.

And ofc none of this has to be considered when writing fanfiction but I kinda like reminding people of things from canon that they like to disregard. Especially also because I personally just don’t get the appeal of writing/reading ooc AUs.

“rhymes that keep their secrets” is probably about the whole love confession and “without heart we’d all fall apart” is of course the core of it [and it actually rhymes]. “You’re the heart” is the most important part because everything else pretty much leads back to that [of course Mike is objectively the heart of the party but the fact that Will tells him that and that he phrases it like that definitely has to do with his love for him! Dustin for example probably would’ve told Mike that he’s the brain lmao].

so “you’re the heart” is of course significant here [no shit] and we all know that the track that plays during the monologue is called “you’re the heart” as well, so “rhymes that keep their secrets” might also apply to the monologue! And Mike straight up lied during the monologue so of course he’s keeping secrets!

And the pronoun switch is pretty clearly from Mikes perspective if you ask me. “Turn around, look at what you see” the lyrics are basically talking to Mike if you get what I mean. The pronoun switch was more or less teasing the love triangle, but even mor it was teasing the fact that Mike is in love with Will! [they could’ve just stayed with “her” if Mike was actually in love with El but they changed it to “their” to mask that it’s actually “his”]. The next scenes are Mike and Will literally flirting and after that El kissing Mike without consent which pretty much confirms this. So it only makes sense that “rhymes that keep their secrets” also applies to Mike keeping secrets which is why I think it’s actually logical that his monologue is included in that!

“will unfold behind the clouds” -> With “clouds” they could possibly mean the smoke clouds from the upside down which then means that line could be translated to “the truth will come out in the upside down”.

we also have “written on the pages/there upon a rainbow is the answer to a never ending story”.

I’d say we can connect “written on the pages” to lettergate which I personally think will play out by Mike and Will finding an old letter from 1983 that Mike has written to Will, in the upside down. The letter is of course signed “love, Mike” and it really will drive home the point that it’s always been Will for Mike just like it has always been Mike for Will! So the truth will come out right there as the letter will confirm that Mike definitely lied in his monologue and that Mike is in love with Will [and never actually had romantic feelings for El].

I don’t think I even have to say anything about “there upon a rainbow”. It seems pretty clear 🏳️‍🌈✨

I can also see how this could take a dark turn and stand in connection to Mike getting Vecna’d though!

“In their face, the mirror of your dreams” -> Vecna pretending to be Will

“rhymes that keep their secrets will unfold behind the clouds” -> Vecna will reveal the truth/ Mike will be outed by Vecna.

Feeling especially delusional today and thinking about the change of pronouns in the never ending story song just before the Will and Mike scene.
