Why are you anti animal rights? Every true Marxist-Lennist that I have spoken to knows that animal rights are the obvious ethical conclusion in the push for universal freedom. It's really simple: do humans have anything that makes them unique and separate from animals? No? Can animals consent to anything? No? So then it's not okay to exploit or kill animals. We don't think it's OK to exploit or kill humans, which are glorified animals, so why is it OK to do this to animals just because they can't voice their opinion? Because they're not as smart? Is it OK to exploit or kill non-verbal people or small children just because they're not as smart and they can't voice their consent? I looked at your Vegan Logic tag and it's just a bunch of meme images reacting to well thought out rhetoric. You're no different than conservatives who don't have a sound argument against leftism, and so they divert to insults and jokes.

Well first of all I'm not a Marxist-Leninist. Second of all if humans don't have anything that makes us special then why are you proposing we act special by pretending that eating meat is a unique evil that we invented? No we aren't above other animals which is why I eat whatever I need to eat just like any other animal does. Third of all this blog is like 8 years old at this point and looking under specific tags is going to get you to places from a time where I barely had a brain cell. Fourth of all I don't think the online animal rights presence has any "well thought out rhetoric" and stupid unfunny annoying memes is about what some of these hot takes are worth

Some of my biggest pet peeves from the German translation that I still remember, even though it has been nearly seven years:

Changing Lannister to Lennister. Probably to keep the pronunciation the same since the German e is kind of similar to an English a. But it looks just deeply, deeply wrong to me.

Joffrey's sword being called Löwenzahn. Which, yes, does literally translate to lion's tooth, but is more commonly known as the German name for dandelion. The little punk is running around with a sword called dandelion. Party.

I also really disliked that they kept the English titles and referred to characters as Lord and Lady so and so. Which I get why they did it, it sounds nice and is not gonna be an issue for most German readers. But they already went through the trouble of translating house names and the names of whole regions into German. Why not use the appropriate German version of the titles? I get that Herr and Herrin or Dame might sound a bit awkward and bulky, but I think it would help immersion way more in the long run. Stuff like "Lord Schwarzhain" or "Lady Graufreud" just sounds absolutely wrong to me.

My great asoiaf re-visit actually started with audio book versions of A Game of Thrones and A Clash of Kings because I the first time around I read them in German and actually only own the German copies, but since I utterly despise some of the translation choices I could not bear to touch them again.

But now I'm on A Storm of Swords. The last time I read that book I was a teenager, and I can clearly remember how much of a struggle it was (and the following two as well). The last three books took me one and a half years to read. My English wasn't as good, and it was downright exhausting to read. I couldn't get through more than like a chapter at a time. And now I finished nearly a quarter of the book in a little over two days. Boy, does it feel great to be reminded that you do indeed improve.

You know what makes me so unbelievably mad, thinking about the whole Jaime and Cercei reuniting and dying in each others arms thing? It's not even the fact that they still cared about the other in the end or that Jaime died or that Cercei's death should have been a lot more brutal and epic to make up for everything bad she had put into the world.

I mean all of that is an absolute shitshow but I was hoping that at least they'd reunite as siblings and not lovers. Because after all Cercei never loved Jaime enough to be faithful and Jaime was clearly (you can't convince me otherwise) falling for Brienne. And I get that they didn't want the other to die because they've never been without each other their whole existence and they are family in the end. I could have accepted this but Jaime's words to Bronn a few seasons ago: "I want to die in the arms of the woman I love". Man that just infuriates me because I was more than sure that he would die in Brienne's arms, since he had turned his back on Cercei last season and he was so happy and ready to start a new life and he fucking deserved a woman like Brienne. A healthy, happy relationship. But no D&D made him abandon her and return to 'the only woman he truly loved'. They could have let them die as siblings, who besides everything, still cared for each other but no they threw Jaime's Character development into the trash and gave them this poetic Shakespeare-ish death of lovers fearing for their unborn child and I won't forgive them that. Not because it's incestious and wrong but because Jaime had finally found happiness and they took it from him and ruined everything he stood for.
