He’s intelligent, handsome, a dashing spy and courtier. Cultured, witty and well read. The perfect renaissance man, much enamoured of the Empire of Rome. The Duke of Norfolk’s trusted agent and friend. A monster and a gentleman.

John Norwich is one of my Tudors OT3 verse OCs. He respects one (1) of these fuckers and that’s the Duke of Norfolk. He would love the dark academia classics aesthetic. He has plans within plans. He’s the monster haunting Thomas Cromwell’s nightmares, who took him age ten and never wanted to let go.

When he finds ‘his antinous’ at court, a favourite of the monarchs and as beautiful a man as he was as a child (to Norwich) he is determined to reclaim him. For is he not his slave, his property after all.

Thank you to @ruiniel @grey-gazania @swanmaids @searchingforserendipity25 @ettelene for tagging me on this! I've been mostly working on prompts this summer so I thought I'd pick 5 of my favourites so far from the Silmarillion Phrase Prompts.

1. First Contact (T, 2.7k) for @welcomingdisaster. Following the unexpected re-embodiment of Fëanor, Daeron, minstrel of the Eldar, finally reaches out to Maglor. Humour & Fluff, Daeron/Maglor.

“What is so strange about it?” asked Nerdanel. “You have a great deal in common. Minstrelsy. Arrogance. Legendary self-pity.”

2. Leaves of Countless Years Lie Thick (M, 0.8k) for @swanmaids. Celegorm/Oromë reunion sex.

With Celegorm, he has never been a god. From the first time his spirit brushed up against the white flame of Fëanor’s third-born son, Oromë has cleaved to him as the steadfast wolf cleaves to its mate.

3. Further Apart (G, 0.9k) for @melestasflight. After the War of Wrath, Lalwen has to tell her brother that Valinor is no longer her home.

“You are a hero now,” says Lalwen.

“You know that I never wanted to be one,” says the High King of the Noldor.

4. A Salve (T, 0.9k) for MoonLord. Battered and humiliated after the encounter with Beren and Lúthien, the bond between Celegorm and Curufin is strained. Celegorm/Curufin undertones, for readers who want to see it.

“I shouldn’t have left you, just now,” Celegorm said, his voice thin. He looked away. “I was angry.”

You are ever angry, Curufin thought. One side of his swollen mouth twitched up. “We’re both angry.”

5. Giving Shape (G, 0.8k) for @ruiniel. Young Túrin is helped through his frustration by Sador.

"You are eager, son of Húrin. Your mind runs quick as a rushing brook, swollen by the storm cloud.”

How did he know there was a storm cloud inside him? Labadal was the wisest person Túrin knew.

“Sometimes it is better to pause,” Labadal explained. “To stay your course, for a little while.”

Under the Stars, Above the Sun. Fëanor/Melkor. T-rated. 6.2k one-shot. [Complete.] Entry for My Slashy Valentine fic exchange. For lemurious.

After being captured by Melkor in Dagor-nuin-Giliath, Fëanor has to come to terms with the many threads of his own fate in this world.

“ . . . I hate that name, Fëanáro,” murmured the dark, glistening stream as it trickled somewhere in the back of his mind like a tickle of cool water poured down his spine—and yet also at the forefront of his vision, clear, white waters gleaming with a faint trace of light despite the darkness surrounding it, flowing beneath the caverns low and deep within the earth—but it felt so close to him, cool water sprinkling his face like a fresh spring rain in the morning. He could taste it. He could feel it—but it was not truly there, was it?

Was this what dying felt like? How his mother felt—as he came into this world, and she left it?

“Death is too good for you, Fëanáro,” he whispered, a voice so low it felt no more than the distant rumble of a crumbling mountain.

The piece this is from is finished except for editing - it's an Angband thrall folktale. I'm very excited about it, since I've been wanting to continue that series for a while.

Then the eldest brother believed the thing’s words because of the cruelty in them, and he reasoned that it were better one brother should suffer so that the others might live freely, rather than that all three should be taken and their beloved forest should die. And he had no hope that his brothers might evade the notice of the thing’s piercing eyes; and, besides, he was afraid. So he agreed to do as his captor bade him, and feigning to be free he sought out his youngest brother where he lay hidden at the forest’s heart.

I am home!

I have had an absolutely fantastic time (ten days on my own in Helsinki, an absolute shedload of museums and galleries and sightseeing and two awesome gigs, then three days in London with the eternally fabulous @lemurious with more museums and galleries and two awesome shows and a lot of nerdery and fic talk and my darling original boys Hal and Jack), and I am now utterly knackered. Normal service will be resumed over the weekend, most likely, along with some photo spam posts :D

I am very behind on the booping - I haven't been ignoring you all, I've just not been here today - and am attempting to catch up. Hopefully they'll be up for a bit longer... :D
