“Peek and Pop”
Peek and Pop is a product feature that we’ve been itching to release. I got the inspiration from Instagram where you’re able to pop open photos from your profile. The tricky part of executing this is to bring the availability to all iPhones regardless whether it has 3D Touch capabilities or not but we managed to bake it into Lemon. http://snapkit.io/ is our go to library for implementing Peek and Pop, we’re able to create something that Instagram did for all phones. At first, we built several prototypes in days but it didn’t really make the cut in terms of animation that we wanted, so we kept testing until we got it. A lot of trial and error that’s why it took us longer than expected. So how do you differentiate between photos or video?
Black dot = Photo
Red dot = Video
We always wanted to bring photos and videos to Lemon but we were thinking of different ways to do it, this by far is the most elegant and easy way to view photos and videos without navigating to a different viewpoint. Let’s talk about content. Some content will be crowdsourced from Instagram, if at all we do contact you; chances are we’re using your Instagram image for Peek and Pop and we’ll credit it back to your account.
What do we aim for Peek and Pop? Peek and Pop is definitely an infant feature but the application of it will be amazing in the coming future. We’re looking at Peek and Pop for users to instantly view a picture of the things they’re looking to eat or want to eat when finding pictures on Instagram or the web is slow since we sorted the images or videos to the specific item.

The road not taken.
There’s only so much time and attention I can hold you for, therefore I want to tell you about this path. For those who don’t know what “Lemon” is? watch the youtube video below because it’s really awesome!
youtube
‘The road not taken’ by Robert Frost is a poem I read in school. The whole poem talks about choice. Choices that would make all the difference which we do everyday. This choice was a happy and encouraging since we have the burning drive to blaze through entrepreneurship like every young and wild teen.
but that burning drive was met with plenty of disappointments, launch failures and penniless moments which needed us to pivot to different roads. Roads that are bumpy and uncomfortable.
1. First bumpy road: We weren’t iOS or Android developers. 2. Second really uncomfortable road: We didn’t take any salary nor did we make any money. 3. Third bumpy road: We were once the 3 stooges.
We drove slowly, slow enough we taught ourselves iOS development, slow enough we value every single $$$ spent unlike our college days and slow enough we made a decision to take the high road but I didn’t tell you the potential *touchwood* fourth road.
Fourth road: We both could still fail.
So why should you take this road? Sometimes along the way you will find a destination worth taking even if everyone around you tells you that there’s nothing at the end of the tunnel but I’ll tell you a secret I’ve realized. No one knows what’s at the end of that tunnel not even the smartest person you know.
So if you read till here. I must congratulate on your attention *pat on the back* I will now tell you why this product called “Lemon” is in your hands in 3 points:
1. We know it will benefit many F&B owners. 2. We know we’re solving a problem. Big or small we want to solve this even if it kill us. 3. The F&B app space in Malaysia is so divided with many hidden cracks. We believe we have a glue which can glue all the hidden cracks together into one. Hence, making it easier for us users.
Again I didn’t tell you the fourth point.
4. There weren’t any roundabouts and 3-point turns. This is our road not taken.
Enjoy using Lemon! and the people I’ve contacted as early users. Thank you! we’ll make sure to do what is promised :) You can always reach us at [email protected] or [email protected].
Do follow us on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter for partner stories and product updates!
