Bakugō Katsuki: Engineer
Fandom: BNHA // MHA — [ Masterlist ]
Summary: ~1.5k, fluff, a little violence.
• Being a talented inventor meant your skills were sought by many (both good and bad), but then you catch the attention of Dynamight.
Warnings: Cursing, violence, mention of weapons, post time skip.

"You can't be serious Bakugō-san."
The pro snapped to his trusty assistant, raising an expectant brow when replying like it was the most obvious thing in the world.
"You said they're the best. That's who I want for my agency."
"Yes but—"
"But nothing! Do you know where I can find them?"
"Everyone who has tried has been refused. Their infamous talent has been sought by heroes, big companies, and even villainous characters... All of whom failed to hire them."
"’Cause I haven't asked yet."
"Bakugō-san, I know there's no convincing you otherwise but, I'd recommend having other options available at least."
True to his assistants' warnings, you were no easy recruit, all his efforts at communication were futile. Emails? Calls? Letters? You hadn't replied to any of his professional outreach methods and he suspected this was a common occurrence for you.
Fine then, he'd turn up the heat. Your workshop address wasn't a secret to those with connections and Bakugō wasn't one to give up without a fight. Literally, if need be.
———
It was a perplexing thing in the middle of nowhere, your workshop. A metal-like building heavily lined with obscure defensive weaponry as well as having access to your own personal scrapyard it seemed. But it was yours. A rumoured mechanical talent for crafting hero gear and inventions, one that drew attention from far and wide. However you were content in your independence, it was less hassle this way you'd hoped.
Alas, the confident banging on the metal entrance doors with conviction was far from unusual.
"I told ya, I don't—" You paused once sliding open the door and taking a look at your visitor, lifting your goggles and shifting to a smile. "Haven't seen you at my door before."
"Since ya didn't answer my calls or mail, I don't have a choice." The man seethed through gritted teeth, trying to be more 'accommodating' like advised.
"Oh? Which one are you again?" Your gaze flicked to a pile of (some charred) letters in a nearby bin, smile growing more smug by the second.
"Bakugō Katsuki. You might know me as Dynamight though."
"Yeah you're fun. I like you." You smirked proudly, honesty and bemusement present. "The way you yell at people resonates with me."
The man rolled his eyes with scoffing sound, choosing not to say anything rambunctious enough to have you slam the door in his face - still, he was surprised when you welcomed him in.
"Tch. S'pose you know why I'm here then."
"You, and many others. Had Lemillion here last month, least he bought me a welcome basket with cake and such." You joked, easing the caution the blonde seemed to be upholding around you with his natural personality showing.
"Tch, ain't gonna get you none of that crap unless you start working with me. I did bring something useful though because I'm better than the other extras you've dealt with." He held out a bag, one you quizzically explored to find a peculiar item to win one over with.
"A spanner...?"
It wasn't just a spanner, it was one of the newest, top of the grade, multi tool sets crafted by one of the big brands. Thoughtful. Very thoughtful actually...
"I appreciate it, but I can't accept something this expensive. Especially when I'm going to decline your offer."
"S'fine. It's a gift, but if you feel that guilty about it then you can fix my gauntlets." Bakugō justified rather abruptly, shoving the bag into your arms to ensure you took it.
"Alright. That sounds fair."
"I'll grab 'em from my car, get your shit ready."
That afternoon, you sat beside Katsuki as he talked you through the technicalities of his weaponry whilst you worked on them together. All the while diverting onto conversation tangents and making drinks mid way, he demonstrated his quirk - tiny sparkles of explosive lighting up his hand.
"They're pretty, your explosions."
"They’re deadly— I don't— shut up nerd!" He dismissed you briskly, turning away with an irritated growl.
———
Fixing his gear would be the first and last time you'd see Bakugō in person you assumed, considering you declined his job proposition and all.
So when you received another bout of rapid banging on metal the following week, you were surprised to find a smirking Dynamight rather than another recruiter.
"Shocked to see me or something?"
"Well I— yeah. Figured you'd take my refusal and go."
"Nah you did a good job with my gauntlets, wanted to see what else you're up to." Dynamight flexed his wrist for example, openly pleased with his gauntlets but seemed more so by your genuine reaction.
"Oh really?" You sounded truly perplexed, but also excited to share your work with someone. "Sure, I'll show you my latest ideas!"
Bakugō stayed a while, a couple of hours discussing applications for your inventions and inquiring as to whether there were any materials you were unable to obtain recently. Then it moved on to his occupation, his agency, and then to trivial matters such as popular restaurants around town.
“So, wanna join my agency yet?” The blonde threw over his shoulder on his way out of the door.
“No Dynamight, but thank you for asking and visiting.”
“Fine nerd. I’ll be back then.”
Now you didn’t believe that for a second when he slammed the door behind him, and you felt like he’d only asked for the sake of it - fully expecting you to say no. However, if he did decide to visit again, you wouldn’t be mad about it you concluded.
———
Unfortunately, your next set of individuals weren’t so welcomed. You’d seen them multiple times previously, each visit coming with its increase of pressure to work exclusively for them. A dealer who specialised in exporting weaponry to villains on the black market, they had both the money and power to pose either a threat or a reward. Except, your constant refusals had only fuelled their growing impatience which led them crashing down your door tonight with violence in their wake.
"C'mon (L/n), I came here personally just to hire you. We'll certainly pay you well enough~" The dealer slammed you into the wall, digits digging so deeply into your neck you barely managed a disgruntled wretch.
"I'll neve— ever work— for you assholes!"
"Too bad, the consequence for that is death y’know." You were slung across the floor, a gasp for breath futile when he aimed his pistol at your heart. "Want to reconsider yet?"
"Fuck you."
The gun safety clicked off, one of the henchman's quirks keeping you painfully immobile. If these were your final moments you were furious you hadn't completed your latest invention, maybe a little irritated you hadn't hit the code red before you were taken over by a damn quirk. You avoided pledging alliances to avoid this bullshit! You didn't work for any competitors, you weren't in the line of fire for sharing information, but now you can't even refuse work without getting caught in a crime web?! Society and talent is a sh—
Then an ear splitting bang echoed in the facility, dust clouds and debris forcing through the room like a tidal wave, leaving two intruders knocked out and the remainder covering their faces and yelling confused curses. That's when you saw sparks of light, a familiar explosion you had the privilege of seeing in person only once before.
He came back.
"That's why they call me Great Explosion Murder God!" He grinned menacingly, teeth bared like a predator with a dangerous glint in those crimson eyes. Sparks and smoke danced around him, the hero lowering both his stance and voice when he spoke what sounded like a protective threat.
"Now get away from my agency's' new engineer."
Oddly you felt butterflies in your stomach, but you'd narrowed that down to the whole situation being an absolute bombshell. You watched as Dynamight immobilised them effortlessly, the quirk being lifted allowing you to utilise your inventions - mechanised laser snipers pointed at the foreheads of your unwanted company, all programmed to fire with a snap of your fingers.
"Couldn't have done that sooner nerd?" The hero shot back to you tauntingly, but you didn’t miss how his gaze flared up at the sight of bruising on your neck when he’d scanned you for injury.
"Then you'd be out of a job, hero."
It took no longer than ten minutes for the authorities to arrive, during that time Dynamight had retrieved any information he’d wanted. As well as issuing basic first aid to you contrastingly softly in comparison to the deathly interrogation the dealer experienced.
You’d be taken to hospital for a check of course, (Bakugō personally walking you to your escort since he couldn’t drive you himself right now) but before you bid farewell you had a burning question.
"When can I start?"
"Hah?" Came his classic recall, snapping to you with a look of angry curiosity.
"You called me your engineer, I was wondering when that begins." Your voice was quieter now, but upon realising Katsuki seemed a little embarrassed with hand rubbing his neck and honest answer spilled.
"It's your choice, but I figured saying that would get others off your back when word gets around. You'd be left in peace for a while to continue your work."
"And if I want to work with you, when would you want me at the agency?
"All the time." Just as quickly as he spoke, he realised his lack of hesitance, awkwardly huffing and rephrasing all in one. "I'll send over a contract, you can move stuff into the lab if you like the terms."
"Then I look forward to working with you, boss." Gladly, you held out your hand to him, pleased smirk plastered on your features.
"Call me Katsuki." He shook your hand, victorious grin in play. "And the pleasure’s all mine."

You and Izuku started dating when you finished school. Both became professional heroes and their relationship flowed wonderfully.
Izuku would have loved for you to work at his agency but you mentioned that you didn't want the relationship to interfere with your work so somehow, you ended up working alongside Mirio Togata. Better known as Lemillion.
Deku was very happy for you. Mirio was a great hero and he trusted him to watch your back during missions.
It was like that for four years. Izuku had been thinking of proposing to you but he still couldn't find the perfect ring and he was so meticulous and perfectionist that he was also looking for the right place and time.
However, one day an email arrived on his laptop. It did not say who the sender was but the content of the email was a link to a blog.
He normally would ignore such emails but there was something that made him uneasy. Before the link there was a short message that said: it seems that very soon you could lose your girlfriend.
He started the blog, it was kind of like a superhero gossip page. Izuku had heard of that blog, although there were many, this one in particular was very famous.
Everyone knew that you and Deku were a couple and in a stable relationship. Even the Marketing guys loved their relationship. A single photo of the two of you generated many sales, not to mention the interviews.
But then, why was Mirio holding you by the waist like that while greeting the cameras with big smiles? Why did you hug the man's hip and rest your head on his chest with a big smile? Why?
He read the entire note. The blog mentioned something about how they had saved some children from an elementary school that was on fire.
It's true, they both looked tired and you seemed a bit more hurt than Mirio. Surely he was just holding you, but you didn't want to worry the children who admired you and that's why you smiled despite the pain.
But there was also another photo below. One where Mirio carried you in his arms and you hugged him by the neck.
At the end of the note it said something that he didn't like at all.
“We can see the two heroes very close, they even seem like a perfect couple. Could it be that the heroine y/h/n has left Deku to be with Lemillion? Please turn on page notifications to receive all our updates”
The note had been published a little less than half an hour ago.
Deku slammed his laptop shut with such force that he must have broken it. Immediately he took his phone and looked for your contact in the messages, but before he could send you the message, a call from you came in.
He answered immediately.
"Hello bunny" Deku greeted. He never minded showing affection to you in public and he knew that you had blushed. You always did.
“Hello honey” you sounded a bit strange “I'm sorry, I just wanted to let you know that I got hurt today and I'm in the hospital. But don't worry, the doctor will come in a moment and besides, I'm with Mirio"
He frowned. He was always going to worry about your health even if you only broke a nail.
“Was it because of the elementary school thing?” He asked you.
“Um… yes. The school was falling down and there were still children inside. I ran in to get a child out but a piece of roof hurt my leg. I guess I wasn't fast enough."
"I understand. I'll go right away"
"No!" Deku was confused by your sudden yell, he had already stood up but dropped into his seat. You've never yelled at him, not even when you were fighting, “I know you're busy, honey, and I don't want to bother you. How about you pick up some food on your way back home and the two of us have dinner together?”
He sighed in relief.
“Of course, bunny. I'll bring your favorite” he heard you release a giggle.
"Here you go, sweetheart" Deku heard on the other end of the line. Did he hear right? Mirio called you sweetheart? Since when did he do that and why hadn't you told him?
“Oh, thank you very much Mirio. It's just what I needed” you had answered. You had obviously moved the phone away a bit, but he heard clearly.
"Oh, is that Midoriya?" He heard him ask you, but his tone seemed displeased though he couldn't be sure. Maybe he was just tired.
"Yes"
"Say hello from me"
"Mirio says hello" Deku heard you again loud and clear on the speaker "so, I'll see you later. Okay?"
It took him a moment to react.
"Okay, bunny"
What the hell was that feeling that sprouted from her chest? He had never felt this way before. Something like anger and sadness combined.
He sighed tired. He had to return to his work to leave early and go get food for dinner. But right now he needed a new computer.
Deku discovered that you were doing great and that night you didn't seem to have any trouble walking. But what did bother him was that you mentioned that Mirio took you to the house. Not that he hadn't done it before, but this time he annoyed him a little.
He himself would have picked you up at the hospital but an emergency arose and he was unable to leave the office earlier than planned.
But that night you covered him with kisses and you fell asleep in his arms. Everything was fine, they were pure silly ideas that his mind created.
However, that little thorn did not disappear. He began to notice how close you and Mirio seemed to be. The way he made you laugh out of nowhere and how comfortable you seemed to be around him.
He also noticed that it was Mirio who was always approaching you. His big hands were looking for a way to be on your body. Touches here and there, barely noticeable to others. But there they were. Mirio even dared to tuck a lock of hair behind your ear from time to time.
He discovered that that feeling was jealousy. Iida and Uraraka had to explain it to him one afternoon when their paths crossed after a team mission. Deku told them a bit about how he had felt since that incident in elementary school and they did their best to advise his best friend.
“Don't worry Deku” Uraraka told him “y/n loves you very much and she wouldn't be able to do this to you. Maybe it's just a misunderstanding and you should talk to her about how you feel."
"I agree" continued Iida "besides, Togata is a good guy and he knows that you and he are a couple. They are just good friends, plus they work together. It's normal for them to be so close."
That lifted Izuku's spirits. It was true, there was no way you could fool him. Right?
Soon came December 24. They had organized a Christmas gala for all the professional heroes. And of course, the number one hero, Deku, could not be missing.
Normally they would spend Christmas with Izuku's mother and New Years with your family, but this year they decided to try something new and they both agreed to attend the gala.
But in the last week you've been acting really weird. You fell asleep before Izuku got home even though you always expected it. It took you a long time to answer his messages and when you did, they were curt responses.
Also, you no longer filled his face with kisses in the morning. He was trying to get closer to you, but you seemed to be getting further and further away.
What was happening? It wasn't very easy for Izuku to talk about his feelings, he felt that he was a burden to others and although you always listened to him, this time he couldn't find the right words.
"You help me?" Izuku snapped back to reality when he heard your sweet voice.
You were turning your back on him and he understood that you were asking for his help to zip up your dress. That dress made you look beautiful. The fabric adjusted perfectly to each one of your curves and highlighted that cute ass you had. I was dying for the whole world to see you holding his arm. He always liked to show you off and show everyone that you belonged only to him.
Izuku moved closer to you, placing his big hands on your waist and then leaned down a bit to place a kiss on your back. Then another kiss and one more.
"Izu, we'll be late" you reminded him. But the feel of his lips against your skin was just intoxicating.
“Maybe we shouldn't go” he broke away just a little “maybe we can stay here. You and me alone” he caressed your bare skin, you always liked his big warm hands.
You actually liked the idea, but there were a lot of people waiting for them at the gala. Mainly Deku. They had already announced his presence and many reporters would be disappointed if they didn't see him.
"Izu, you know they'll kill us if we don't go"
"Fine" he gave up sadly. Leaving a kiss on your neck.
He moved away from you a bit and zipped up, even though most of your back was visible. You turned around to face him.
"Thank you, honey" you left a quick kiss on his lips before continuing to fix yourself.
Two hours later, they were both at the party. There were quite a few heroes everywhere and a lot of photographers and reporters trying to get an interview or a good photo.
You were hugging Izuku's arm as they walked down the pretty red carpet that would lead them to the building. As soon as they noticed the presence of the number one hero, the cameras turned to you urgently.
Many yelled at them to turn around. Photographers and reporters wanted more of Izuku's attention.
"Hero, Deku" a reporter called out to him and you and Izuku approached her. He was supposed to be nice and give some interviews. Also, that girl was small and seemed very nervous. She was probably new to this whole interview thing.
Izuku was always very nice and it was very rare for him to refuse a photo, an autograph or an interview. Only if he was someone trying to be rude, would he refuse. Otherwise, he would spend hours pleasing his fans.
Fortunately, it was only ten minutes and they both kept walking. Stopping from time to time to have some photos taken. The flash started to hurt your eyes and Deku noticed it immediately so he hurried inside the building where there were no more photographers to bother you.
You smiled at him in thanks as you placed a kiss on his cheeks.
Izuku kept one of his hands in his pants pocket, right where he kept the box that contained the engagement ring that he wanted to give you. He had been carrying it for two weeks. His other hand clung tightly to your waist as they walk across the room and greet his acquaintances.
Only fifteen minutes have passed when Izuku feels you separate from him. You've never done it before, you always tell him first if you want to go to the bathroom or want a new drink, you don't walk away and that's it.
Then he saw that Mirio was coming towards you. Izuku noticed the way your face lit up for a moment when you saw it. He felt his heart break very slowly and painfully.
“Hello guys” greeted Mirio with a beaming smile “wow, y/n, you look gorgeous. And look, your dress is the same color as my tie. As if we were combined” Mirio's voice is enthusiastic. Izuku saw his own tie, it was also the same color as your dress, you yourself had given him that tie for that day.
Deku gagged but tried to smile instead. It was a very awkward smile though.
"Hey, Togata" Izuku calls him "can we talk for a moment alone?"
You looked at your boyfriend curiously.
"Of course, Midoriya" Mirio hugs him by the shoulders.
“I'll be near the snack table,” you advise as both men walk away.
Once Izuku and Mirio are out of the room in a lonely hallway with no prying eyes, Izuku gathers the courage he needs to face Mirio.
"I... I've noticed lately that you and y/n seem much closer."
"Well, I guess" Mirio let out a giggle "we're co-workers and we're also friends"
"The problem" Izuku almost yelled "is that I think… I would like to know. Are you in love with her?"
He was direct but his eyes remained squeezed shut as he clenched his fists.
"Yes" he clearly heard the man's answer "I'm in love with her and I'm also trying to take her away from you"
Izuku's eyes widened in surprise. He noticed that Mirio's eyes seemed darker and scarier. He had never seen it that way.
"What? Why?"
“Well… it's simple if you think about it. You always get everything you want, Midoriya. Everything. And I'm jealous. You stole my number one spot, I was meant to be number one, not you” he was silent for a moment before continuing “y/n is pretty, kind, smart, strong and you don't deserve her. She needs someone better. To someone like me. I want her"
Deku was in complete shock. He really didn't expect such sincerity.
Mirio turned to leave, Izuku unable to move for a long moment. Staring at the ground and clenching his fists tightly from the fury that flooded his veins.
Although in feeling he was rather similar to sadness.
With firm steps he returned to the party where he searched for you with his eyes and quickly found you next to Mirio. The blond man was very close, flirting with you very shamelessly. Although in the eyes of others, Mirio was just being nice. As always.
Izuku moved to your side, sliding a hand down your back and then down your waist to pull you to him. You looked at him curiously.
"Is everything alright, Izu?"
“Perfect, bunny. Can you come with me for a moment?"
"Of course, honey"
You quickly looked at Mirio with a smile to say goodbye to him. Mirio smiled at you too but as soon as you turned around, he tried to kill Izuku with his eyes. However, he preferred not to interfere at that moment, he knew perfectly well that now he had you around his little finger and as soon as he asked you to leave Izuku, that's what you would do.
For years he was brainwashing you, praising you and casting doubt on your relationship. He discovered everything you liked and everything you didn't. What made you happy and what made you sad. He knew all your friends and the names of all your relatives. There was nothing Mirio didn't know about you. He showered you with gifts and small things. He would bring you your favorite coffee every morning and to your favorite restaurant for dinner.
Everything was going as planned. He even tracked down that girl who posted hero gossip and paid her a generous amount of money to start the rumor that you and him were having an affair.
It was only a matter of time before things between you and Deku ended. And so Mirio would have you for himself.
Izuku took you to a clear corridor, the building was quite big so it wasn't difficult to find a solitary and beautiful place. The green haired man took your hands in his very gently, as if he was afraid of hurting you in some way. Although he had never done it.
It might look like a pretty funny and adorable scene, Izuku was probably the strongest man in the world but he treated you with such finesse it was almost unreal. But also very cute.
He looked sad and confused, you didn't understand what was wrong but it was clear something was wrong from the way he frowned at him very deeply.
"Izu?" You called out to him and he looked at you with teary eyes.
"You still love me?" he asked suddenly. You didn't understand where that question was coming from but it was obvious that someone had said something to him to make him feel insecure.
Or was it something you said yourself?
You approached him, letting go of his hands and instead of him you gently took his cheeks. He appreciated the gesture.
"What is that question about?"
He shook his head, he didn't want to say what he thought but at this point, being honest was probably his best option.
“I've noticed… I've noticed that you're closer to Togata. I know they are very good friends but I don't really like how close they have become. I feel like you've left me aside and maybe... maybe you don't want to be with me anymore. I would understand perfectly… well, not really. But I want you to always be very happy and if that means you don't want to be by my side…” you silenced him with a kiss.
"I love you more than anything in the world, Izuku" you told him with total sincerity "I don't love anyone but you. Also… I know I've been a bit distant lately but it's because… well…” you looked at the ground.
"What is it, bunny?" He encouraged you to continue and they exchanged positions, this time it was Izuku who held your cheeks and your hands remained on his hips.
“I had been having some ailments” you explained “and at first I thought maybe it was a cold or something related to some mission but a few days ago I went to the doctor because I felt very dizzy. And well… she said that I’m pregnant” your cheeks turned red. You were very happy but you couldn't be sure if Izuku would be too.
They had never had a serious conversation about having children. Deku was at the height of his career and maybe having children wasn't part of his plans right now. You did want it, no matter what. Even if Izuku didn't want it, you would have your baby.
But something happened that you wouldn't have expected in a million years.
Izuku knelt down and showed you a beautiful ring. His eyes shone with tears and something else. Something akin to happiness and longing.
"Marry me please"
You looked at him stunned. Was this real? Was Izuku really asking you to marry him? Tears welled up in your eyes, you couldn't describe the happiness that was suddenly surrounding you. Maybe it was the pregnant woman who gave you strong emotions.
"Of course I do" you finally answered.
Izuku smirked and slid the ring onto your finger. Immediately he stood up to kiss your lips and give you a hug. He would have loved to press you hard against his body but he had to be very careful from now on. Even more careful than he already was.
It was after forty minutes (when Izuku stopped crying with happiness), that they both held hands and returned to the party.
The photographers found you in less than a minute, they had been looking for Izuku and no one missed his big dazzling smile and slightly puffy eyes.
In the same way, he did not separate his hand from your waist at any time and you very covertly showed your engagement ring. At that moment no one noticed but you knew that the next day the world would be in chaos when someone noticed the ring around your finger that was not there at the beginning of the night.
Izuku's fans were quite intense and used to notice the little details of the number one hero. What included you. Of course you also had your fans but they were few compared to Izuku's.
The rest of the party was very easy going and fun. Mirio didn't approach you but he saw him talking with Tamaki and Kirishima.
At half past four in the morning, the two were in Izuku's car heading to his home. They both put on their pijamas and prepare to sleep.
They both lay on the bed and you settled into Izuku's chest while he caressed your skin. It didn't take long for you to fall asleep but Izuku kept his eyes open while continuing to make those soft caresses.
He heard his phone ring and, very careful not to disturb you, he reached over to take it. He smiled a little noting that there were a bunch of fan page notifications of him breaking the news or rather, speculating about your engagement ring.
At the beginning of the night you were not wearing it and there were thousands of photos focusing on your hands. Then there were thousands of other photos of your hand with that pretty ring on your ring finger.
One of the pages even showed the price of the ring, which in fact cost a fortune. But that didn't matter to Izuku. He loved to spend his little fortune on you.
There were many pages and photos that were already beginning to talk about the possible marriage between you and Izuku. And they were anxious for an official announcement.
Izuku opened his Instagram and quickly posted a picture of you, showing off the ring on your ring finger. The description said: she said yes.
Izuku turned off his phone so he wouldn't hear the notifications for the rest of the morning and left it on the nightstand. Right away he left a kiss on your head and caressed your cheek.
“Now you will never leave me” he murmured in the dark “you are mine and mine alone. And no one can ever separate us” he placed another kiss on your forehead and finally closed his eyes.
Of course. Getting you pregnant was his first plan, but since you hadn't given him any news and you didn't seem to have normal pregnancy changes, he decided to advance his marriage proposal. But he was pleasantly surprised when you finally told him you were expecting a baby. Everything was going according to plan. Even better.
He could only imagine how upset Mirio would be at that moment. He could never take you away from him.
You belonged to Izuku and no one else.

Note
people have been debating whether mirio really was a better successor for ofa has given me an idea for my rewrite. In my universe, izuku is much nore attentive and analytical of his surroundings, and due to facing discrimination for his quirklessness, he has a less rose tinted view of hero society and wont just follow orders like lemillion. An example is when he and lemillion first meet eri and lemillion give eir back to overhaul, a long tongue snatches eri from his grasp and darts away. Lemillion tries to chase after the villain but izuku recognizes it as my oc herpeton and due to them already having worked together in the past izuku trusts his instinct enough to stop lemillion and get both them out of the alley and away from an angry overhaul. Also after izuku discovers who herepton is with nezu and after nezus deal, izuku acts as a benefactor to herpeton and gives him intel on what pros patrol the cities that herpeton is visting for the first time and what their tactics are. This willingness do what is right instead of just following what the commision want is why all might chose him as his successor. Speaking of which, nana shimura and the rest of the ofa holders were also vigilantes, which explains why they most people have never heard of them. What do you think?
Hi @suchusoid 👋
This has been a long and ongoing discourse that's been reignited a few weeks back after the series ended.
Personally, in Canon itself we aren't truly given a concrete reason as to why izuku is better than mirio and why he deserves OFA more than mirio. This gets even more annoying as the series ends with izuku not even claiming the quirk or making it his but simply still viewing it as a gift from his favourite hero.
Tumblr media
I remember @mikeellee asking a similar ask as to why izuku was picked and not mirio and Canon doesn't give us a concrete answer heck it's even worse when you realise how non existent izukus relationship with all might is.
However, I think that you're changes here to izuku are honestly what was needed!! Having izuku carry and cement the idea of no man is created equal and making sure to make that an integral part of his character would allow for izuku to really see the grey morality and messed up system especially since Canon does try and point this out but constantly fails due to the lack of introspection and development izuku has.
Izuku understanding the cruelty of the system yet still trying to save everyone is what makes him different to mirio who has a goal if 1 million people but izuku has an ongoing gaol that in reality would never be achieved and will always be added onto and altered to help produce a fairer society one where people can at least have the same opportunities.

Making Izuku much more attentive also makes sense and is crucial since Canon misses that part of his character completely. In Canon we do get some interesting analytical moments from izuku but they are inconsistent and its a shame because with a bit more digging and thinking izuku's character could of became so much more.
Mind you this is the same character that saw Hawk's once and said that it's weird that he is only 6 years older and so much more mature then them.
This is also the kid who ended up copying his classmates move multiple times with his quirk like shooting blackwhip from his mouth to mimic froppy or the use of his legs when it comes to ofa mimicking iida.
Tumblr media
Due to his analytical abilities I feel like midoriya would be able to peice together that herperton is one of his classmates friends.
They would form a partnership of sorts. Izuku wants to help herperton out in hopes of helping achieve a better future and society so he would give him information in return and maybe he would even give him some quirk advice.
A part of me thinks that herperton would get a sense of deja vu especially when he finds out that izuku was quirkless. This would all remind him of his own quirkless mentor and from that they would slowly grow closer to the point where they both trust each other to make the right move if needed. This means that izuku allows for eri to be taken and then herperton and izuku manage to get her into safety.
In the end izuku wants a better society and he has already done many things to show us that he would do what is morally right over following the rules. This is the same izuku who ran and intervened the moment he realised iida was in hosu and trying to kill Stain. This is the same character who tried to take down gentle criminal so the school Festival wouldn't be disturbed. Even if it means getting himself into trouble or being hated izuku midoriya does what is right and that should be his character

If the ask game is still going, how about an au where Aizawa is actually a time traveling Eri who is trying to prevent the current chapters of the manga from happening?
Absolutely fascinated by the implications of this. "girls who become their fathers" to a new level.
1- Eri lives in a small cabin in the woods with her adopted father. Sometimes, she gets visitors. Mizushima makes sure they have clean water delivered. Tenya sometimes brings people to her to heal. Yamada brings news around to the encampments of survivors. But most days it's quiet. Eri has clothes, but as she gets older she finds she really doesn't like the sweet dresses picked by the nurses. They make her feel like a doll. The bright fun clothes her father got her, for a show that doesn't play anymore, is alright. Comfy. But so are the plain dark hand me downs. The boys clothes. Shouta cuts her hair over the sink.
2- Most days are quiet, calm. Shouta braids their hair, reads them books, tries to cook. But some days, the quiet is not calm. It is plans, whispered back and forth. Shouta them more than the others, the child knows. Rational deception. It would make Deku sad. But Deku isn't here anymore, he's sleeping and won't wake up, like their grandfather won't. But there a plan.
3- And then it's time for the plan. He's thirteen. He leaves the cabin with Shouta for the last time. They go to the place with the machine, and the child gets a shot. Momo says that he'll be able to handle a second quirk, abilities carefully copied from samples from Shouta, Deku, and Monoma. The child's eyes begin to burn. Shouta presses a bottle of eye drops into his hand and a brief kiss to his forehead, on the other side of the tall curving horn. The child will wear it down to a nub as he powers the machine far enough, and crashes to the floor of Nedzu's office over two decades earlier.
4- The boy gives Nedzu some answers, and lets him puzzle out the others. Nedzu, in return, gives him documents. Officially, he's now Aizawa Shouta. He leaves, and will return later as a UA student determined to focus on preventing a full scale collapse of society as they know it. The messy hair hides the nub of his horn when it's down, and the movement of floating up around it usually covers it then too, but he's careful to use Rewind enough to keep it low and avoid detection. It's absolutely necessary to keep AfO from discovering his quirk in this time- he knows that is part of why his father cut off his own leg and let it go, because the other way to negate the effect of the bullet would have revealed the second quirk hiding behind Erasure, which is desired enough. The cats around his apartment are very healthy, and he secretly thinks it very amusing to watch the younger versions of the teachers he knows. But Shirakumo is different, totally new. He reminds him of Deku and Lemillion both, and he's suddenly dragged into friendship not just with Shirakumo, but the others too.
5- Back in the left-behind-future, Yamada mutters that the kid looked just like...
"Cuz he is." The 38-year-old Aizawa admits. "But it's not a stable loop. Every time, things go better. We'll get it right, eventually."
Yamada closes his eyes.
"You never tell me?"
"I don't know, only that I didn't. He might."
Yaoyorozu looks over from where she's memorizing the formulas before they destroy the lab.
"What is it?" She asks.
"Nothing. Is it safe to move Midoriya yet?"
"Yes. Iida's in charge of that. I... We'll wake him up, soon."
Aizawa hums, and looks over to Yamada. He hopes they can wake him up, one day. And he hopes one day, the child will tell his friends the truth.

After the joint training exercise, Hitoshi is desperate to catch up to the rest of the Hero course students in time for his transfer. He's having trouble finding people willing to let him use his Quirk on him, which is completely understandable, but it means he's not making the progress he needs. Both Togata and Monoma are willing to help him out, and he's so, so grateful, but when he unwittingly makes Monoma reveal what he really thinks of him, he fucks up so bad he doesn't think he can face him ever again.
[My first time writing fluff, and I still had to throw some angst in there lol. When I was watching season 7 and Shinsou showed back up, I was thinking about who he'd be training his Quirk on and the people who came to mind were Togata (bc he's so chill) and Monoma (bc he likes Shinsou so much). And Eri's there too because she's adorable.
This is set in the period between the Joint Training Arc and the Final War Arc.]
“Are you busy again today, Aizawa-sensei?”
His teacher was strapping on his boots at the door, so the answer was obviously yes. Aizawa looked up at Hitoshi, absently checking his watch. “Yeah, unfortunately. Don’t know when I’ll be back. You’re still trying to find people to train your Quirk on, aren’t you?”
Hitoshi nodded. He’d asked a couple of his classmates in Gen Ed, and while they’d gotten more friendly with him since the Sports Festival, they were, understandably, wary of being used for Brainwashing practice. He’d gotten one of them to agree but even a twenty-minute session had been too much for her and she’d had to quit. Hitoshi was grateful for even that, but it meant he’d gotten basically no practice in the couple weeks since the joint training exercise, especially since Aizawa had been busy with some sort of project at the hospital.
“If I’m going to be transferring to the Hero course next year, I really need to step up my abilities. But it’s been kind of hard to find anybody.”
Aizawa stood up, adjusting his binding cloth and considering for a moment. “Have you tried asking Togata and his friends? They’re around a lot to take care of Eri.”
Hitoshi rubbed his face. He’d interacted with Eri quite a bit since he’d been training with Aizawa, and since Togata was spending pretty much all of his time with her, he’d spoken with him, too. But he wasn’t exactly friendly with the third years and asking them to allow him to Brainwash them seemed like a huge ask. He didn’t have time to express this, though, as Aizawa was already halfway out the door.
“Well, you’ll figure it out. Make sure Eri eats— you can use my card if you order something.” And then the door shut and Hitoshi had no choice but to figure it out.
“Is Aizawa-sensei gone again?” Eri came to the door, clutching a chapter book to her chest.
“Yeah. Is that a book you’re reading?”
“Uh huh. I just finished it and I only needed Lemillion’s help three times! I wanted to show Aizawa-sensei but he’s already gone…”
“That’s okay! You can show him when he gets back.” Togata appeared behind Eri with a stack of books in his arms. “Did you want to start another one, or take a break? You want lunch?”
Eri thought for a moment before nodding.
“Sure thing! What do you wanna eat?”
“Hmm… hamburger steak!”
Hitoshi followed Eri and Togata into the kitchen. It was a Saturday, so Amajiki and Hadou were there, too. If he was going to ask, this was probably his chance.
“Um… I was wondering…”
Togata was bent over as he dug through the fridge, but instead of turning around, he bent further to look at Hitoshi through his legs. “Shinsou! What’s up?”
“Uh…” Maybe this was a bad idea. But he’d already started talking, so he had no choice but to continue. “I was wondering if the three of you might be willing to…help me with Quirk training.”
“Oh!” Togata straightened and whipped around, leaving Amajiki and Hadou to actually find the ingredients to cook with. “Your Quirk is Brainwashing, right? Sounds like fun!”
“I’m sorry, I’m afraid I must refuse,” Amajiki said shakily, clutching an onion and a bell pepper to his chest. “The idea of not being in control of my own body… I think that’s too much for me.”
“Brainwashing? How does it work? What’s it like? What would you need us to do?” Hadou leaned over the kitchen island at Hitoshi with such enthusiasm he had to lean back.
“Well, if someone responds to me verbally while I have my Quirk active, I can control them until I turn it off or they get hit by some sort of impact.” Hitoshi wasn’t used to having people pay this much attention to him. He forced himself to keep his arms down so he didn’t cover his face. “I still can’t make people talk or…do things that require them to think. And that’s what I want to work on.”
“I see! Sure, use me for whatever you need!” Togata was chopping the onion somewhat unevenly. “After lunch?”
“Interesting! I’ll try it, too!” Hadou beamed at him and the force of it was so strong that Hitoshi had to look away. Were all Hero course students this energetic?
Hitoshi nodded. “Yeah. Um, thanks.”
The hamburger steak and accompanying sauce was made with minimal disaster and only a moderate amount of mess to clean up. Hadou volunteered to go first, practically bouncing in her seat.
“Alright… Do you cook much?”
“Not really!” Her face went blank as Hitoshi’s Quirk took hold.
Hitoshi looked at her, unsure of where to start. They’d moved to the couches and Togata was watching with interest as Eri chewed on an apple slice. Amajiki was staring at his friend with some consternation and waving a hand in front of her face.
“Can she see me?” he asked.
Hitoshi nodded. “Yeah, pretty much, but I’m not sure how much she’ll retain afterward.” Another thing to work on. Everyone in the joint training exercise had developed their Quirks so much… Hitoshi felt the gulf between himself and the Hero course students like a soreness. Now that he had a willing test subject in front of him, though, he couldn’t figure out what to have her say.
“Tell us a joke!” Togata said, peeling another apple without looking.
“Sure, tell us a joke,” Hitoshi repeated.
She was silent, staring at the space in front of her with a blank expression that was familiar enough that it didn’t really weird Hitoshi out anymore. Amajiki and Togata were watching with varied amounts of fascination. Togata cut his finger in his distraction, prompting Amajiki to take the apple and knife from him and take over apple-cutting duty.
“Maybe coming up with something’s too much to start with,” Togata said. “You could have try having her repeat something?”
“Okay… Say, ‘I’m a third year Hero course student at U.A.,’” he tried. He could feel the pull of his Quirk on her, trying to work the parts of her brain that would move her mouth and throat so she could talk. It felt sluggish and clumsy and all he managed was getting her to open her mouth and make a little vocalized ah.
“That was something!” Togata exclaimed.
“Not much, though,” Amajiki said quietly. Eri took an apple slice from him and munched it thoughtfully.
“You could try her name?”
“Good idea, Eri-chan.” It was only a few syllables and something Hadou would be used to saying. “Senpai, what’s your name?”
“Hadou…Neji…re…,” came the slow response. It was slurred and zombie-like but clearly discernible.
Hitoshi released his Quirk, happy for the progress but only now realizing how many steps there were between where he was at and where he was trying to get to.
“Whoa, that was weird!” Hadou said as soon as she had control over her own body. “It’s like I could see stuff but I couldn’t move but I didn’t know what I was doing but I don’t really remember anything! So how’d it go?”
“I was able to get you to say your name, but anything more than that didn’t really go anywhere,” Hitoshi said, rubbing his cheek. “And having you saying something you had to make up yourself didn’t work at all.”
“Hmm!” Hadou leaned back against the couch cushions, plucking an apple slice from Amajiki’s hands. “That’s so interesting! Are you gonna do Togata next?”
Togata sprang up from the couch and struck a pose. “Sure! Whaddya need?”
“I guess just, respond to what I say?”
“Okay!” Togata froze as the Brainwashing took hold. His face went blank, but he didn’t otherwise move, creating a bit of a weird effect with his arms in the air for whatever pose he was doing.
“Maybe…just stand normally to start with.”
Togata lowered his arms and straightened his legs so he was standing with his arms at his side. Less weird, but still a little bit weird, just because Hitoshi wasn’t used to the third year not moving animatedly with a wide smile on his face. Eri tilted her head and stared at him with a little furrow in her brow.
“Senpai, what’s your name?” Hitoshi decided to start with something he knew could work.
“Togata Mirio!” Togata answered, voice smooth and only slightly stiff. Hitoshi blinked. There seemed to be a little less resistance with Togata for some reason. Maybe it was the third year’s easygoing attitude. His optimism and cheer was sometimes a little off-putting sometimes, but in this case Hitoshi was just glad it made things easier.
“Who’s your homeroom teacher?”
After a pause, Togata said the name of a teacher Hitoshi didn’t recognize. It seemed to be correct, going off the looks on Amajiki’s and Hadou’s faces.
“Making progress already!” Hadou exclaimed. “Can you, like, feel his mouth moving when you make him talk?”
Hitoshi scratched his cheek. “Not really. There’s not much feedback besides how hard they’re resisting the Brainwashing.”
“I bet he’s not resisting very hard,” Amajiki said. Hitoshi smiled a little and shook his head, at which Amajiki shrunk back into the couch, muttering something about self-preservation instinct and mental fortitude.
“Can you make him move around?” Eri asked.
“Yeah, that’s easier. Anything you wanna see?”
“Make him do that All Might dance from that commercial!”
“That might be harder since he’d have to remember the dance.” Hitoshi wasn’t feeling particularly confident but seeing the eager glint in Eri’s eyes, he had to cave. “We can try it, though.”
Eri nodded eagerly, head bouncing like a bobblehead. Hitoshi suppressed a snort and turned back to Togata before she could snap her neck with the force of her enthusiasm.
Hitoshi didn’t quite remember the dance Eri had been referring to, but that shouldn’t matter as long as Togata knew the moves. He had to try really hard not to feel really stupid as he said, “Senpai, do the All Might dance.”
Togata raised his arms robotically and slowly, silently held them to his head to mimic All Might’s hair tufts. Eri giggled as Togata did the dance, jerky and awkward and completely off rhythm but recognizable. Hitoshi was just about to let himself feel hopeful about his progress when the front door burst open.
“Shinsou-kun! You get lunch yet…?” Monoma froze halfway through the door, plastic 7-11 bag in one hand and mouth dropping open in shock. Togata continued to do the All Might dance, on loop since Hitoshi hadn’t told him to stop, and Monoma dropped the bag and backed out the door, shutting it with a slam.
Eri’s laughter only grew louder as she rolled on the couch. Amajiki coughed and suggested that maybe Togata should stop now. Hitoshi released his Quirk while he ran a mental calculation on whether he should chase after Monoma to explain or go hole up in his dorm room and never come out.
Having been coaxed back inside and bribed with a reheated hamburger steak, Monoma sat at the table in the common area of the faculty dorm and looked around at the gathered third years. “Why didn’t you ask me, Shinsou-kun? I thought we were friends.” He was chewing on his fork as he turned his gaze to Hitoshi with a raised brow.
Hitoshi cleared his throat and hoped the warmth in his cheeks wasn’t visible. It hadn’t occurred to him to ask Monoma— he was a Hero course student and so one of the rivals he was trying to catch up to. And were they friends? Monoma had practically demanded Hitoshi’s number after the joint training exercise and they had been texting a little and had hung out a couple times but it wasn’t like they’d been speaking for that long. At this point he realized he was taking a little too long to answer so he groped for something to say. “Are you saying you’re okay with helping me?”
“I’d love to help you!” Monoma burst out, gesticulating wildly with his fork. Eri was watching its trajectory with wonderment. “We’re kindred spirits, you and I, and now that we’ve fought together we’ll always be comrades-in-arms! How better to stick it to those class A kids than to help you train so you’re better than any of them!”
Hitoshi wasn’t sure what to say to that and decided against mentioning that there was an even chance he’d end up in class A next year. “Oh. Um, thanks.”
“Think nothing of it! In fact, think of it as doing me a favor! This could be the beginning of a historic partnership! With your Brainwashing and my Copy, we’d take the world by storm!”
Hitoshi let himself zone out a little as Monoma continued to rant between bites of food, detailing their epic rise to the top of the Hero charts. He was just glad he’d been able to find people— multiple!— willing to help him train his Brainwashing. Monoma even seemed eager, and as he tuned back in to his speech, Hitoshi couldn’t help but feel a little warm.
* * *
Eri let out a shrill giggle as Monoma crashed into the coffee table. It was enough of an impact to knock him out of the Brainwashing and he dropped to the ground, rubbing his shin. They’d developed a bit of a routine over the last few weeks, Monoma coming by after class or on weekends when he didn’t have his work-study to help Hitoshi train with Togata. Hitoshi was finally starting to make real progress with his Brainwashing and he was able to make people answer simple questions. Things requiring more brainpower than that were still a struggle, and he still needed to really concentrate or he’d slip up and the person he was controlling would veer off and do something he hadn’t been going for.
“Ow, that’s gonna bruise! I didn’t agree to this so you could bodily injure me!”
“Sorry,” Hitoshi said, biting back his own laughter. “Maybe that was trying too many things at once.”
“I, for one, greatly appreciate your sacrifice,” Togata called from the couch. Eri had buried her face in his side, giggles exploding into guffaws at Monoma’s outraged expression. “No one can make Eri-chan laugh like you!”
“Why don’t you try something that doesn’t require me to move around?” Monoma stood up again and crossed his arms, shooting an exaggeratedly prim expression at Hitoshi. “Just have me talk, so I don’t have to risk life and limb for your Quirk training.”
“Er, yeah, okay.” Hitoshi rubbed his neck, in fact feeling a little guilty. He’d had Monoma walk around the room while describing things he saw. Simple, but maybe still a bit ambitious for where he was at. “Hey, Monoma.”
“Yeah?”
Hitoshi felt his Quirk take hold, the vague sensation of something catching on the edges of someone’s consciousness. He pulled at it a little as he spoke. “What’s two plus two?”
“Four,” Monoma answered, voice flat. It was still strange to hear him speak without his usual exaggerated affect.
Eri giggled again. “Even I know that!”
“Yes, you’re very good at math,” Togata agreed.
Hitoshi ignored the peanut gallery. “What’s the capital of France?”
“Paris.”
“Is general trivia really making him think?” Togata asked.
“Hmm, good point,” Hitoshi said. “Who wrote the Arsene Lupin stories?” Monoma had described this character to him once, one of the inspirations for his hero name. Hitoshi didn’t remember the answer himself, but he was trying to see if Monoma could recall it.
“Maurice Leblanc,” Monoma said, rolling the r with an impressive French flourish.
“What’s the plot of one of the novels?”
Monoma was silent. Damn. Was that level of information recall still too much?
“Close your eyes.”
He did so.
“Who else is in the room right now?”
“Shinsou-kun. Eri-chan. Togata-senpai.” The words came out slow, but they were correct.
“Who’s your favorite out of us?” Eri called from the couch.
Hitoshi looked back at her, raising a brow. Eri stared back at him, wide-eyed, nodding eagerly. “Fine. Monoma, who’s your favorite out of the people in this room?”
“Shinsou-kun,” Monoma answered quickly.
Eri burst out into more giggles and Hitoshi felt his face warm a little. “I guess since we were on the same team during the joint training exercise.”
“Aw, that’s really sweet,” Togata said. “I’m glad you two are such good friends!”
Hitoshi cleared his throat, trying to find something else to ask Monoma. “God, this is stupid… What are you thinking about right now?” By this point, he was able to keep the person under his Quirk somewhat conscious, but they’d still often forget what they’d been doing while under the Brainwashing. Maybe with more practice, he could control how much they remembered, but that was probably pretty far off.
“I want you to kiss me,” Monoma said.
Hitoshi released the Brainwashing without meaning to. Behind him, he heard Eri gasp and then protest as she was picked up by Togata.
“Uuh, Eri-chan, why don’t we go for a walk? I’ll buy you a candy apple!”
“Hmm… okay!”
The door closed before Hitoshi finally worked up the courage to say something.
“Sorry about that.”
“About what?” Monoma looked around the room. “Where’d Togata-senpai and Eri-chan go?”
“They left because, um…” Two sides of Hitoshi’s brain warred over what to say. Lie or tell the truth? Brainwash Monoma to forget he’d ever met him? Probably not within the scope of his abilities, not to mention morally objectionable. “They had to go.” Neither side won.
Monoma was making a face at him and Hitoshi sorely wished, not for the first time in his life but for the first time in a while, that he had any Quirk except the one he had, preferably one that could dig him a nice hole to hide in. “Did you make me do something stupid?”
“N-no.” It’d been Hitoshi who’d asked something stupid. “It was nothing, don’t worry about it.”
“Shinsou-kun.” Monoma closed the distance between them and grabbed Hitoshi by the wrist as if worried he was going to run away. Hitoshi had been considering it, but only vaguely, and now it was too late to act on the impulse. “What was it?” His voice was gentle but probing.
Now that Monoma had touched him, there was a chance he’d Copied Hitoshi’s Brainwashing and could use it to force Hitoshi to tell him, or do something embarrassing until he did. They’d tried that a few times, and thanks to that Hitoshi knew how it felt to be under his Quirk and had even been able to use that to speed up his progress. He didn’t think Monoma would Copy and use his Quirk without asking but the threat of it was enough to make him still, though he continued to look anywhere but at him. “Eri-chan wanted to know who you liked the most out of the three of us,” Hitoshi said. His wrist felt hot where Monoma’s hand was clasped around it. He was probably sweating. “And you said me.”
Monoma snorted. “Well, sure, I talk to you the most. Why would that make them leave?”
“Then I asked what you were thinking about and you said…” Hitoshi glanced at Monoma’s face. He’d stepped even closer and Hitoshi’s vision was filled with the blue-gray of his eyes. Hitoshi couldn’t stop his gaze from flickering down to Monoma’s lips and he felt his face burn as he forced the words out. “You said you wanted me to kiss you.”
Monoma’s eyes went wide and Hitoshi saw a twinge of recollection in his face. “Shinsou-kun—”
“Sorry, I think I should go.” Hitoshi shook himself free and rushed to the door, ducking his head to avoid eye contact.
“Hey, wait!”
“Don’t follow me!” Hitoshi couldn’t suppress a flinch as his Quirk took hold of Monoma. He hadn’t meant to do that, but it gave him the opportunity to get out of there, so he took it. For the first time, he felt Monoma struggling against the Brainwashing. Hitoshi picked up his pace and felt the connection fall away about halfway across the lawn in front of the faculty dorm. He saw Togata and Eri returning down the sidewalk, Eri happily munching on her promised candy apple, and ran in the direction of the Gen Ed dorms, hoping they hadn’t seen him. He didn’t stop until he’d locked the door of his dorm room behind him and then sat down against the door.
That had gone incredibly shittily, for a number of reasons. He’d used his Quirk against his friend, someone who’d been trying to help him get into the Hero course, against his will. Monoma had made himself open to what were essentially psychic attacks and Hitoshi had not only violated that trust but also forced Monoma to divulge something private and probably really embarrassing. Some hero student Hitoshi was turning out to be.
Monoma definitely wouldn’t want Hitoshi to kiss him now, if he even wanted to see him again. Hitoshi couldn’t blame him if he didn’t. He felt the bile rise up in his throat, familiar and sour after years of reckless, defiant resolve to prove everyone wrong. Indulging an impulse he hadn’t since middle school, he put his forehead against his knees and let the self-loathing wash over him.
Maybe ten seconds later his phone buzzed. He pulled it out of his pocket to see Monoma had texted him an ominous ‘Shinshou-kun.’ Hitoshi stared at it for a few minutes, too scared to open it and send a read receipt. Monoma sent one more ‘Heyyy!!!’ After several minutes there were no more messages. Hitoshi let out the breath he’d been holding and put a hand over his face. He wasn’t sure if the tightness in his chest was disappointment or relief.
* * *
Hitoshi hadn’t gone back to the faculty dorm in a week. Aizawa-sensei wasn’t around much these days but he was able to train with his binding cloths by himself on school grounds, though he was pretty much just going through the motions at this point. He’d hoped doing some familiar drills would keep his mind off things, help him focus, but swinging around the trees before class and trying to remember to keep his wrists loose did little to occupy his thoughts. If anything, it was only making him feel worse.
Hitoshi landed softly on the grass (falling had been the first thing Aizawa had drilled into him) and looked down at the new callouses forming on his hands. Was there even a point to this? He’d spent weeks, months at this point carving out space for himself, training and sweating and getting his ass kicked by Aizawa-sensei so he could finally have his dream within his grasp. But if last week was anything to go by, he’d only proved that everyone had been right all along, and all his powers were good for was villainy.
Hitoshi checked the time before coiling up the binding cloth. The carbon fibers glinted a little in the light. He flexed his fingers against the fabric, feeling the scratchy texture of the weave. He hadn’t texted Monoma, or even really seen him. Monoma hadn’t texted him since the incident, either, which confirmed the theory that he didn’t want anything to do with him anymore. In the normal course of the school year Hitoshi didn’t really get opportunities to interact with the Hero course kids, so he might not see him again for the rest of the semester. That was probably for the best.
Hitoshi frowned. Staring at his hands wasn’t going to help him get a handle on his feelings, it’d only make him late so he tucked the cloth into his bag and headed to class.
He was antsy the whole morning, barely able to pay attention to the lectures. There was a pop quiz in math he’d definitely bombed. Working to get into the Hero course hadn’t distracted him so much before; he’d only stubbornly thrown himself into his training while keeping his grades up with sheer force of will and sleep deprivation. Hitoshi heaved a sigh as the bell rang for lunch. He saw a couple of his classmates staring at him, but mercifully they didn’t try to ask him about it. He’d been using lunch periods to train more, so they went ahead without him.
He wasn’t feeling up to training right then, though, so he pushed himself up from his desk and followed the rest of the class to the cafeteria. In the hallway, he saw a familiar swoop of blond hair and Togata was upon him before he could formulate an escape plan.
“Shinsou, it’s been a minute! How you been?”
“Alright,” Hitoshi said, avoiding eye contact. He hoped the terse response would get Togata to leave, but he wasn’t so lucky.
“Eri-chan’s been a little sad not to see you. Is something going on?” Togata’s voice was cheerful and airy as always, but Hitoshi still had the feeling of being cross-examined.
“You know, exams and stuff,” Hitoshi said to the floor. He kept his hands in his pockets so they wouldn’t be tempted to fidget and give him away. “Can’t let my grades slip or they might pull my transfer.”
“Oh, I thought your grades were really good,” Togata said, voice filled with thoughtful surprise. “Did you still need someone to train your Quirk with? I’m always happy to help. Heck, I can tutor you if you’re worried about your grades.”
Togata was being weirdly, characteristically nice, which was just making Hitoshi uncomfortable. Hitoshi cleared his throat. “No, I think I’m good. Thanks.”
“Hmm,” was Togata’s response. He eyed Hitoshi for a moment and opened his mouth to say something. As Hitoshi steeled himself, he seemed to think better of it and grinned at him. “Well, let me know if there’s anything you need.”
Hitoshi just nodded mutely. Another third year turned the corner and took Togata’s attention, so he was spared from having to verbalize a reply. Togata hadn’t said anything about Monoma, but Hitoshi found himself unable to push the thought of him from his mind as he reached the cafeteria. Togata and Eri had gotten back to the faculty dorm right after Hitoshi had made his exit. They would have found Monoma there, after Hitoshi had done something terrible and then run away on top of that. What had Monoma said to them? Whatever it’d been, it’d probably been nicer than he deserved.
The cafeteria was already crowded as Hitoshi entered. He started to make his way to the back of the line, looking at the clock over the door and trying to calculate if he’d even get his food in time to eat. He was feeling a little nauseous, probably from the lack of sleep, so maybe it’d be better to just grab a seat and try to take a nap at a table.
All the introspection meant he wasn’t looking where he was going, and he bumped into another student. Damn, he had to get his shit together. “Sorry,” he muttered, registering who he’d bumped into too late.
“Shinsou-kun!”
Hitoshi froze as he looked up and locked eyes with Monoma. “Fuck.” He found himself unable to escape as Monoma grabbed his wrist and got up in his face. He looked everywhere except at Monoma.
“Is that all you have to say for yourself?” Monoma hissed, lacking his usual drama and exuberance.
“Can we not…do this here?” Hitoshi continued to stare at the floor, trying to get his brain to start going again. Here they were, the consequences of his actions. Monoma definitely hated him and was going to let him have it.
“What, are you gonna Brainwash me and run away again?”
Hitoshi couldn’t suppress a flinch. He felt the absurd urge to laugh, like a toddler caught doing something wrong, and that made him feel like even more of a piece of shit. He tamped it down. “…No.”
Monoma huffed a sigh, but his grip on Hitoshi’s arm didn’t loosen. “You know what, just, come here.” He started to drag Hitoshi toward the doors. For someone smaller than him and not particularly muscular, Monoma was surprisingly strong. Hitoshi didn’t fight him, only glancing over his shoulder on the way out to see the orange-haired girl from 1-B staring at them from over her noodles.
Monoma pulled them into an unused classroom and pushed Hitoshi further inside until they were out of view from the door. He blocked in Hitoshi between the desks, cutting off an easy exit. He was also entirely too close and Hitoshi found his gaze going to Monoma’s mouth again.
“You’ve been avoiding me.”
“It’s not like we get a lot of chances to see each other, since we’re in different courses.”
“Then you’ve stopped going out of your way to see me.”
“I guess, yeah.” Hitoshi ducked his head. It took two seconds of fighting with his mouth to finally blurt out, “I’m really sorry! You trusted me enough to let me use my Quirk on you, and I Brainwashed you without your permission. And I made you say something private in front of people… If you never want to see me again, I understand. I know I should’ve… apologized sooner.” He forced himself to look at Monoma, afraid of his disgust but also needing to know what kind of face he was making.
Monoma was scowling, looking just to the right of Hitoshi’s jaw. After several seconds, he finally said, “Yeah, that wasn’t very nice of you to just run off.”
Hitoshi’s insides were cold mush. He could see Monoma trying to disguise his hurt with his usual blithe smile, but it was unsteady. Hitoshi let out a shaky breath. “Maybe I am just a villain,” he muttered.
“Excuse me? What are you talking about?”
It’d been directed at himself, but since Hitoshi had said it out loud, of course Monoma had heard. Hitoshi once more wished for a hole to hide in, not that one was likely to open in up the floor of the classroom, but he deserved to take his lumps, even if it was making him feel like he was being skinned alive. “Cause I… I violated your trust. And after you called me your friend… I was terrible.”
Monoma’s scowl morphed into a frown, but not the kind Hitoshi had been expecting. “What are you, stupid?”
“What?”
“We were training! Yeah, your Quirk lets you dig around in my head a little, but that’s a risk I willingly took on when I agreed to train with you. I mean, you know how many concussions I’ve gotten from my classmates in training exercises?”
“But—”
“Look, you’re not a bad person, okay? Your Quirk isn’t evil and you’re not a villain! It’s not like you made me hurt someone! You didn’t hurt me.”
“Doesn’t me Brainwashing you at all hurt you?” Hitoshi could feel himself losing a logical battle he hadn’t been prepared for.
“No! And even if it did, I agreed to it! At some point you have to respect the fact that I make my own choices.”
Hitoshi didn’t have a response for that. Monoma was the sort of person who could talk circles around anyone, but Hitoshi couldn’t help but still feel deeply guilty.
“Also… if you were that bothered about me wanting to kiss you, you could’ve just… said that. You didn’t have to avoid me over it…”
Hitoshi’s cheeks heated and his head whipped up to look at Monoma, who’d bowed his head and was avoiding eye contact. “What? No, that didn’t bother me.”
“Isn’t that why you ran off and stopped talking to me? I mean, I get it, if you don’t…like me, just, tell me you’re not interested, okay?”
The shape of Hitoshi’s fuckup suddenly became very clear. He shook his head emphatically, a hand coming up to cover his face. “N-no, that wasn’t it at all! I was just… I was surprised, okay? I didn’t know what to do!” He stumbled backwards a step and felt the back of his thigh hit a desk. “I’d just never… thought about it before…”
“So you didn’t hate the idea?” Monoma’s voice was quiet as Hitoshi lowered his hand.
“I just figured… you wouldn’t want to anymore… since you probably hated me…”
Monoma snorted. “I don’t lose interest in someone so easily.” His gaze was on the floor and Hitoshi’s hand hovered awkwardly in the air between them, torn between going back to his side or reaching out and…
Their eyes met and Monoma reached up to tangle his fingers in Hitoshi’s hair. Hitoshi let out a yelp as he was pulled forward and then Monoma’s lips were on his and his eyes went wide in shock. Monoma’s eyes were closed, blond lashes ticking Hitoshi’s face. Hitoshi realized he should probably close his eyes too, and maybe kiss him back and then his only thoughts were that Monoma’s lips were soft and he’d been stupid for not talking to him sooner. His hands traveled up to the sides of Monoma’s face to pull him closer, pushing himself forward. He breathed out a sigh and pushed his tongue into Monoma’s mouth because all he wanted was to taste him.
Monoma broke off the kiss, grinning a little as Hitoshi dumbly tried to chase his mouth. “So? I didn’t… ruin everything?”
“No! Of course not!” Hitoshi cleared his throat. “I hope… I didn’t ruin things, either.”
“No.” Monoma chuckled. “For the sort of guy who says ‘I’m not here to make friends’, you really get bothered by this kind of thing.” He started fiddling with Hitoshi’s collar. “We’re still friends. I still like you. I’ll keep training with you, if you still want that.”
“If I still want— Do you? Isn’t getting Brainwashed kind of awful?”
“It’s not awful! I kind of… like it.” His voice trailed off at the end until Hitoshi could barely hear it.
Hitoshi coughed. “I can’t believe you’d say something like that.” He couldn’t believe anyone would say something like that. His face was hot and he wanted to hide again, just because he was so overwhelmed. “Is that… something you’re into?”
“You little!” Monoma smacked Hitoshi’s arm, taking Hitoshi’s genuine question as teasing. “Don’t make me Copy your Quirk! Maybe I’ll give you a taste of your own medicine!”
Hitoshi bit back a laugh. The weight that’d been in his chest for the past week was suddenly gone, replaced with blooming warmth. “Yeah? What kind of horrendous things would you make me do?”
“Shut up, for one thing!”
“I really want to kiss you again.” Hitoshi’s voice was hoarse and his face burned as he said it.
Monoma held up his arms defensively and looked away, cheeks hot pink. “Jeez! I told you to shut it, not say something embarrassing!”
“I’m not embarrassed.” Not entirely true, but seeing Monoma flustered for once was rare enough he wasn’t going to squander it. “Are you?” He reached out and put his hand around Monoma’s arm. His skin was soft and warm under his fingers.
“No! Why would I be?” Monoma didn’t pull away, but stared at Hitoshi’s hand like he couldn’t figure out its geometry on his arm.
“You’re, like, bright red.” He swallowed the lump in his throat. “So, can I?”
“Do whatever you want.”
Hitoshi leaned forward, suddenly, absurdly, nervous as he pressed his lips against Monoma’s again. He laughed a little and pulled back to try again. An ecstatic little rush went through him as he felt Monoma sigh against his mouth and melt into him. Hitoshi heard a click as the door opened. He opened one eye to peek over Monoma’s shoulder and saw his friend from before standing in the doorway in open-mouthed shock. After a good eight seconds of silence, she saluted before shutting the door gently.
Monoma laughed into Hitoshi’s mouth and pulled back just far enough to say, “Oh no, did we get caught?” His lips ghosting against Hitoshi’s felt like heaven.
Hitoshi nodded. He pulled Monoma back to him and let his eyes fall shut again. “I guess you have some explaining to do to your friend.” He smiled against Monoma’s groan. “But in a few minutes.”

CHAPTER IV - AGENCY
To say that I was intimidated by Sir Nighteye when I first entered his office is quite the understatement. His eyes were so sharp that you could almost feel his gaze drilling in you, searching for answers that he needs even without asking questions.
"We found the hide out of the gang that was causing problems yesterday, Sir." I stood in front of him with Bubble Girl's report on hand. "Lemillion and I easily mapped out their location for you."
After getting used to his intimidating dark blue aura, I was confident in all my dealings with him. He was a calculating man but he was kind to those who pass his quality checks.
I offered him my hand made map, with the cute legends he loved so much. I made maps for him this way, putting cat stickers as the legend for anything we were searching for. Sir Nighteye found it extremely cute.
"Can you and Lemillion handle this yourself, North Star?" He glanced at my map, studying it for a few minutes. "The gang isn't too big and the mission is not too difficult."
I gave him a huge smile, "We got this, Sir." He gave me a nod before giving me back my map. Although it was cutesy, it was accurate. I didn't want to sacrifice the quality for my aesthetics.
"Report back to me once you're done."
***
I led Lemillion to the abandoned restaurant and saw the glow of all five members of the gang, confirming their locations in the building. I told him about what I saw and reminded him of what we were assigned to do.
"Think you can wrap it up in ten minutes?" I whispered to Mirio as we prepared for battle. He was dressed in his Lemillion hero costume and I was also dressed up in mine which was a black body suit, with my white utility belt and glasses. I didn't want to be too flashy since I was merely Lemillion's sidekick. "Sir Nighteye alerted the police, they'll be here soon."
Lemillion gave me his signature wide grin, assuring me that everyone will go according to plan, "Well, I To-gata go then!" He loved this joke immensely.
I let out a soft chuckle, already used to his lame jokes. "Go then. I am right behind you." He disappeared through the restaurant entrance and I scaled the wall quietly. Under Sir Nighteye's guidance, I developed a technique to see the faint glows of the people around me. It was still a small territory but it helped me in missions that require stealth.
I slipped past the window and saw that Lemillion was already wiping out the gang. I scouted the place with my eyes and gasped softly.
"Lemillion! Your right! There are people there!" I yelled out to him. Even before the bullets hit him, he disappeared.
I let out a shaky breath. Where did they come from? And why did I not detect them before?
I jumped from the second floor to the first, cuffing and restraining the ones that Lemillion already wiped out.
When he appeared, he was hauling three more people and dropping them in front of me. "The other guy could shield their energies, that's why I couldn't sense them." He told me before restraining them himself. "Thanks, North Star."
I gave him a smile, "Sure thing." We perked up when we heard the police sirens. "They're here."
We gave our reports to the police and made our way back to the agency.
"I have to start writing a comprehensive report for Sir Nighteye when we get back." I stretched as we walked.
He chuckled, "He loves your reports."
"He loves that I print them out in fragrant stationery." I grinned proudly, able to make sure that he won't put me in that tickling machine again. "And the fact that he is amused by all those stickers you gave me."
"And here I thought they won't be useful!" Mirio laughed. He waved at the young kids who greeted us loudly. "Be safe!"
I walked beside him quietly, enjoying his glow. I rubbed my eyes hastily which caught his attention.
"You okay?" He peered down to my face.
"Yeah, scouting for glows isn't something I'm used to just yet. It dries out my eyes." I told him, "I'll get eyedrops before we go home." My quirk strains my eyes, much like Eraser Head. I can't blink while my quirk is activated or else I'll need to start focusing again. It was easier to focus on one but Sir Nighteye pushes me to widen my range.
"We'll get you eyedrops now." Mirio dragged me to the nearest pharmacy. He greeted the owner and bought two for me. "One that you can leave in your desk in the agency and one for your dorm!"
I took them from him, "Thanks, Lemillion."
"Anything for you, star." He grinned, a pink hue scattering all over his nose. "Well then, Sir will be looking for us."
Mirio and I arrived at the agency and went out separate ways. If he doesn't have any assignments from Sir Nighteye, Mirio goes off to catch up on his academics. He wasn't the best student so Sir ordered him to bring his grades up.
I prepared reports beside Bubble Girl, learning the ins and outs of the agency. I had the contacts of all establishments, public or private, and Sir Nighteye gave me the privilege to talk to anyone who reaches out to him in his behalf.
Ring ring
"Good day, you've reached Nighteye Agency. Is there anything I can help you with today?" I received the call, pausing from the report I was typing. The call was something Sir Nighteye was looking forward to, it was from a hero who had information about the Shie Hassaikai, the yakuza. "You can send the information right now and I will deliver it to Sir Nighteye."
Once the report is with me, I printed it out and went straight to Sir's office. "Sir? The report that you wanted for the Shie Hassaikai just arrived. I'll leave it on your desk." I put the papers down as Sir Nighteye was busy with his computer.
"Thank you."
I left in a hurry, there was no humor or energy in that conversation but Sir Nighteye seemed to be distracted.
When I got back to my table, I finished the report of the earlier events and handed it to Sir Nighteye before Mirio appeared to fetch me.
"You worked hard today, North Star." He was back in his usual clothes, ready to leave. "Let me just say goodbye to Sir while you change."
"Alright."
After a few minutes, I was back in my own normal clothes, my hero costume in my bag for safekeeping.
"Ready to go, Y/N?" Mirio stood up from my chair and grinned wide, "Sir Nighteye gave me restaurant coupons! He said we should use them and treat ourselves for a job well done!"
I nodded. Even though Sir Nighteye appeared to be strict, he was soft with us. He let us have the gifts that people send the agency as thanks for any mission we have accomplished, most of them were food. Sir Nighteye never fails to acknowledge our hard work as well, as he would with our mistakes.
"Let's go get dinner then." I took Mirio's hand and squeezed.
He was surprised when I took his hand, so much so that he blushed in the process. "Ah, Y/N, don't surprise me like that! My heart was just about to burst!"
"You two are the cutest!" Bubble Girl was also packing up. "Go on a date before I tell Sir Nighteye that you're flirting in the premises again."
"Don't tell on us! He'll scold me again!" Mirio laughed.
The coupon was so special that it allowed us to have a four course meal on the house. Mirio was so delighted when the steak came, "Remind me to thank Sir Nighteye again!" He exclaimed.
"Yes, you said that two minutes ago, Mirio." I was surprised at what happened too. I was expecting to have at least a discount for our meal but apparently not. Everything we had was free.
Because we have been working under Sir Nighteye, Mirio and I were already receiving compensation. Sir Nighteye was generous with our pay that we were receiving more than the rest of our class. We could pay for the meal if we wanted to but it was already free so we didn't refuse the gift. We barely eat out in fancy places like this anyway, Mirio and I had an agreement that we'll save up so we can get an apartment with Tamaki after graduation. Nejire would have loved to join us but her parents already had an apartment ready for her, it would be a waste to let it go.
"So, how have you been, Y/N?"
I stared at Mirio, "We're together every day, sunny. If there's any update in my life, you'd know."
"Nejire told me you're receiving anonymous love letters in your locker." Mirio pouted, the ever frank and honest boy can never hide anything.
I scrunched up my nose, "I received two and I think that's just a prank." I waved off the idea that anyone could be interested in me. Sure, I wasn't ugly but compared to Nejire, who can really like me?
"Prank? You're amazing!" He pouted more. "I'm sure anyone who wrote that knows you're amazing!"
I started to laugh, "I'm not sure if you're jealous or supportive."
Mirio opened his mouth to respond but he paused and closed it. "I... I am neither." He looked at his steak, poking it with his fork, "Look, I just know that whoever gets to date you is one lucky guy. Don't beat yourself up."
Then his blues found my eyes again, "Just...if you like someone and plan to date them, you'd tell me right?"
My heart ached. I wanted to tell him that I like him and that I wanted to date him but how can I? Mirio is destined for greatness and I...was simply there to watch him.
Besides, he didn't need the distraction and I simply refuse to ruin the friendship that we had.
"Of course." I told him quietly, reaching out and squeezing his hand. My hand looked small, too small, against his but the feeling was safe and familiar. His hand always felt like home.
"I love you." He murmured softly. "You are my best friend, I love you."
I could almost swear that I saw my life pass by my eyes as I heard those words from him. Mirio was always so affectionate towards me but he has never actually told me he loves me.
As a friend.
"I love you a lot too, Mirio." I gave his hand another squeeze. His hand turned, grasping mine. "Don't worry, sunny, I don't plan to date anyone soon."
"Aw, don't say that." He rubbed his nose with his free hand. "A beautiful girl like you should go on many dates. Guys should take you on amazing dates!" Mirio regained his energy, "I can take you out on a date!"
Then, just to tease him, I smirked, "Is this not a date?"
He paused, reddening on the face, "Ah! Stop teasing me! I just might fall for you!" Mirio grasped his chest, right above his heart, "My poor heart is about to burst!"
"You always say that." I laughed.
"Because it is about to burst! A pretty girl like you flirting back is too muc for my poor heart to bear!" He chuckled before grinning wide, "Don't blame me if I really fall for you, Y/N. Keep on teasing me and I'll really jump off."
Why are we not dating really?
***
"You told me that you're scared to tell him." Tamaki broke the silence between us. I snuck off after curfew to Tamaki's room. The poor boy was so surprised that he almost woke up the entire building.
We sat on his bed, our backs on the wall.
"Should I tell him?" I pouted at Tamaki, the only one who can make sense of all of these. We have been friends for years and Tamaki has known about my little crush for awhile. He promised to keep the secret and I was almost glad to share it with someone because I needed to talk it out with somebody else.
"You said you don't want to ruin what you have." He hit me with my own words, reminding me of the answers I gave him when he asked why I just didn't tell Mirio about my blossoming feelings.
"Tamaaaa~"
Tamaki glanced at me, giving me a small smile. "Even if he doesn't return the feelings, do you think Mirio would let anything ruin your friendship? He values you too much to do that."
That's true.
"And what if he does like you back? Is that not worth the fear?" Tamaki added softly. He looked at the window, staring at the bright full moon.
I looked at Tamaki, the kindness on his face evident. He and I looked up to Mirio, I can say he admired Mirio more than I could ever do. Tamaki has always seen Mirio as the sun, the brightest sun. To which Mirio retorted that if he was the sun, then Tamaki was something simply even bigger. That Tamaki could wipe the sun out in an instant.
"Thank you, Tama." I leaned my head on his shoulder, surprising him.
"No problem, star."

“Well, what do you think?” Aizawa ushered you in with his usual stoic nonchalance. It was only because you had been living with him for almost a year now that you notice the slight tightness of his shoulders you had realized meant he was nervous. You inspected the slightly over decorated room carefully. It was lovely. Everything was soft, both in color and texture, she was going to love it! Except…
“Don’t you think she’s a little old for a mobile? Aren’t those for like baby babies?” He shrugged noncommittally as you looked closer at it, “is this supposed to be All Might?” Another shrug. “What is he wearing?” Aizawa looked at you blankly. “His cape? Why is it red?” The blank look intensified. “Trust me, I’ve seen all of his costumes. This isn’t one of them.” You suppressed the urge to laugh in the man’s face. You knew he had tried extremely hard on this room, he just truly did not pay attention to populist stuff like pro merch, of course he had bought an off brand All Might. “Why did you get her an All Might mobile?”
His shoulders were very tense now, “I don’t know, All Might is every kid’s favorite hero. It seemed like a rational choice.”
“He wasn’t mine!” You beamed at your adoptive father. He leveled his apathetic gaze at you.
“Well you’re a weird kid,” he drawled uninterestedly, but he placed an affectionate hand on your head. You pretended to brush him off, but you reveled in the rare attention.
“Either way I’m pretty sure Mirio is her favorite hero.” Aizawa rolled his eyes and started to remove the offending piece of furniture. You stopped him, “Well wait…. She’s probably never had one before, she might like it. We should ask her.”
********************
“And down this hallway is my room and right across from it is your room!” You flung the door open dramatically, “what do you think Eri?”
Her eyes went wide and she clung to your now shared father’s leg. He placed a comforting hand on her head and gave her an encouraging nod. She crept out from behind him, and cautiously looked around the room. She didn’t touch anything, seemingly afraid to disturb anything in the pristine room. God, this little girl was constantly breaking your heart.
“You don’t have to be so careful, silly girl, this is your room. This is your stuff!” You grabbed a few different stuffed animals, trying to tempt her with her fluffy cuteness. You got her to giggle, but she still wasn’t brave enough to actually take any of them from you.
Shota watched the exchange helplessly. Just a year ago he was a bachelor, living off of nutritional paste and sleeping in a sleeping bag in the middle of a studio apartment, now he was the father of two teenagers and a six year old. He was in way over his head. He didn’t regret his decisions to take each of you in; you all needed him, and in certain ways he needed you too, but it was a big change. While you and Hitoshi both presented certain… challenges he hadn’t been expecting, it wasn’t anything he couldn’t handle. But Eri? Shota have no idea what would make a little girl happy, and if you didn’t know either…
“What’s this?” Eri ask quietly, the mobile over the bed had caught her attention. She grabbed onto one of the hanging figures, running her small fingers gently over it. “Is this Lemillion?”
“Yes!” You answered quickly before Aizawa could ruin it this with unnecessary honesty. It had blonde hair, blue eyes and a red cape. Who’s to say it wasn’t Mirio?
A small, but genuine smile crept over her face as she inspected the various poses each of her “Lemillions” held. You reached over and flipped the device on. Eri squealed with delight at the tinkly music her hero was now ‘flying’ to.
“Dude, if you think that’s cool, check this out!” you prompted and she (finally) happily sat with you to sort through the new toys littering her floor.
Shota watched his daughters play together, their laughter echoing through his house their home.
Yea… everything was going to be OK.

The blonde erupted with laughter, a big grin on his face while Mirio held up the two bento boxes in his hands. Yeah, so he may or may not have gotten a box with some nice stuff for Tamaki. “I know right? Isn’t that just crazy?” He asked his friend. He looks so happy and accomplished that he got something for someone else besides himself. There was a lot that he could do to show Tamaki that he appreciated him, so he figured that he might as well do it. Besides, a hardworker like his friend really deserved it. No wonder he had gone and done it without any prompting from anyone else. It was so much like Mirio to go off and do something like this without really asking beforehand. He didn’t need anyone to tell him to do something when he felt like just doing it.
“Anyway! Let’s eat! I think I got you some stuff that you’ll really like, Tamaki.” No further questions asked, he’s already dragging his dear friend off with him to eat lunch with him. It’s obvious that he just wants to have a good time with him, let him have this.

Hi there, love!
“Optimism and smarts are rlly nice to have in a partner, too. My hobbies include reading, writing, watching films and having playful debates about stupid stuff. I generally have a low opinion of myself, but I’m trying to work on my mental health. I’m also working to get in shape physically. Thank you, Ma! Have a great day! (2/2)”
Tumblr media
I match you up with… Mirio Togata!
Mirio is THE optimist, you’ll get your share of positive energy with him
I know he is an extrovert, and might seem like a big oaf but I think he’s actually pretty perceptive and don’t forget that he’s Tamaki’s best friend, so he knows how to deal with introverts
He’d never make you feel like the way you function is a problem, he’ll understand and respect everything about you and he won’t take your need for alone time personally
and since he doesn’t take things personally you being argumentative and stubborn isn’t going to be a problem either, you can talk about anything with him and express your opinion freely, it’s fine if you don’t agree, he’ll just cheerfully express his own opinion and leave it at that
if you feel the need to convince him he’ll listen to you but if he really doesn’t agree he’ll calmly inform you that there’s no point in arguing, he just doesn’t see it but he doesn’t mean it as an offense towards you
Mirio’s gonna be there for you both for your mental and physical health, he is really patient and will give you lots of encouragements

Fluff, Amajiki x female reader, part 1 of 2
Part of the Hero Interview Panel Series
Tumblr media
"What was I thinking..." You closed your eyes and pressed your forehead against the wall. It was cold, but did nothing to relieve the anxiety welling inside. You groaned and started square breathing.
"Are you-are you alright?"
"Oh, sorry. Yea, it's just a little overwhelming out there." You opened your eyes and tilted your head towards the shaky, but gentle voice. "Didn't know anyone else was-" Your words trailed off when you saw a white hooded hero in the same position you were, but a few yards away. He hummed in understanding.
"It's awful out there. I tried picturing everyone as potatoes." You giggled, but stopped when he looked at you with sad indigo eyes.
"I'm so sorry! I wasn't laughing at you. I was just thinking that a stadium full of human-sized potatoes would still be pretty scary." He nodded and turned back to the wall.
"Yea, it was."
"So, that's why you're here?"
You wondered if you'd offended him, but you didn't want to be the one to end the silence hanging between you. You had a hunch he was sorting out his thoughts.
"I'm hiding from Red Riot and Lemillion."
"Why?"
"Because I'd go out there if they asked me to...even though it's awful."
"You're brave." He turned to look at you again. At least one eyebrow was raised. His hair covered too much of his face to tell if the other one was up as well. "Oh, you know...because you'd do it even if it scares you." His eyes darted down your body, searching for something.
"You don't look like the rest of the potatoes." Your laugh echoed through the hall.
"Well, that's good. I'd rather be french fries." Damn, he was even cuter when he smiled. He moved two steps closer.
"Why are you here, small fry?" His eyes flickered to your cheeks as they warmed.
"Oh, well I'm actually one of the panel moderators...sorry." His head tilted. So cute!
"You're a reporter? I don't recognize you."
"I kind of prefer it that way...I'm actually a print journalist. I don't usually volunteer for these sorts of things."
"You volunteered?"
"You're good at this. Normally I ask all the questions." He blushed and took a step back. "Oh, I don't mind...I like it." You shook your head. You were acting like such a rookie, but you really weren't expecting to actually talk with him. "I volunteered." You took one last deep breath. "I volunteered to lead the Fat Gum Agency panel because I wanted to meet my favorite hero..." You felt a rush of something, pushing you to continue. "...and you don't really do interviews."
You watched his face reach a new level of blush as quickly as the words had tumbled out of your mouth.
"I'm so sorry! I'm not saying this was an interview...like this is totally off the record and all that. It was just a nice talk."
"You say sorry a lot."
"Sorry...um I mean, yes you're right. I mean it when I say it though."
"You always mean what you say." You opened your mouth to answer, but closed it when you realized it wasn't a question. Your phone started vibrating. You silenced it without pulling it from your pocket.
"We're gonna' be late." He turned back to the wall. "Um, do you want me to use my quirk on you. It might help with the anxiety."
He didn't move when you closed the distance between you. You moved your hand up, but paused as you neared his face. He was blushing again.
"Oh, and if you're angry with me...tell me now. My quirk-"
"I'm not angry."
"Okay, then it should be fine." You pressed your hand to his cheek. You hesitated when his eyes closed and he hummed.
"Is your quirk sunshine?" Your brows crinkled in confusion.
"What do you mean?"
"It feels warm and soothing...like the sun." You blushed, but kept your hand and eyes on Suneater.
"My quirk is Amplify. I can increase the impact of emotions...but I...didn't use it on you yet." His eyes sprang open. You bit your lip to keep from grinning when you saw his cute pointed ears shift to the same red as his cheeks.

Please consider...Izuku has a HUGE crush on Shouto, but is too 🐔💩 to actually do anything about. So he just stares hopelessly at Shouto, day in, and day out.
Mirio, as Izuku's "Official" Big Brother, teases Izuku about his crush on Shouto relentlessly (but kindly) and pesters him to talk to Shouto.
Eri (Izuku's "Official" Little Sister) watches all this with some confusion before quietly walking over to Shouto and asking him if he likes Izuku in the same way that Izuku likes Shouto.
Izuku's soul promptly leaves his body while Mirio falls to the ground laughing.
Shouto looks up at Izuku with a small and soft smile and answers, "Yes."
Omg I am considering, this is hilarious XD
'I don't get what the big idea is! You like him, he obviously likes you, just talk to the man.' Mirio's easy smile is amazing sometimes, but right now, Izuku wants to take Eri's highlighter and rub it all over his stupid face.
'Not everyone can confess to their best friend like it's the easiest thing in the world!' He says instead, waving his hands dramatically as a blush decorates his cheeks. 'T-Todoroki-kun and I are nothing like you and Amajiki-senpai! Also, be quiet, he's literally sitting over there!'
'I'm sorry? I can't hear you over all the excuses.' Mirio cups his ear, still grinning. 'Look, just go up to Todoroki and tell him you love him and want to kiss him and be boyfriends. What's the worst that could happen?'
'He could hate me forever for ruining our friendship.' Izuku turns back to the colouring book and presses down a little too hard with his pencil. He begins reciting a list of reasons why confessing is a bad idea, until realisation suddenly hits him. He turns his head to the empty seat next to him. 'Wait. Where's Eri?'
Mirio just smiles brighter, while Izuku frantically scans the common room, only to find her sitting in Todoroki's lap. He takes a moment to appreciate just how adorable they look - Todoroki's hand is supporting her waist while Eri plays with his hair - until he registers that she's just mouthed "Deku".
Oh no...
He immediately sprints over, using every ounce of control not to summon One for All, but it's too late.
'Deku-san thinks you're really handsome and wants to kiss you and he told Lemillion-san that he loves you and wants to be your boyfriend.' She twirls her own hair with her thumb, before sheepishly looking up at Todoroki. 'Do you love Deku-san the same way he loves you?'
Izuku promptly trips over his own two feet and slams face-first onto the floor in front of them, content to stay there for all of eternity.
Well, this is the end of our friendshi-
'Yeah.' A quiet, albeit confident voice fills the silence and Izuku looks up to find dichromatic eyes boring into his own, warm and kind, while a slight flame flickers from his scarred cheek. 'I do feel the same, Eri.'
'T-Todoroki-kun?' Izuku all but squeaks when a soft smile stretches across that beautiful face. He's distantly aware of Mirio's howling laughter several metres away, but tries to ignore it. 'Y-You l-love me too? Really?'
Todoroki raises an eyebrow, smile vanishing.
'Of course, Midoriya. I'm not gonna lie to a child.'

Anon who asked permission to write a Secret Crime AU here
Snippet from the fic in progress
Suneater narrowly dodged the volley of tranquilizer darts that the masked villain aimed towards him. He knew he was in trouble. The villain was obviously too high level for him to defeat alone. Maybe with Lemillion or Nejire-Chan but alone, definitely no. The villain was extremely intelligent, got him alone during night patrol, had herded him exactly where he needed the hero student to be until he was forced to face the villain head on at a disadvantage. But he didn't know why. Tamaki was part of the Big Three yes, but he was still just a student, he didn't have the status and currency that would make him target for such a high level villain. Unless the villain was taking preemptive measures, eliminating a future hero before they could evolve into a threat later. Tamaki had no time to think beyond that though. The barrage of long range attacks didn't stop and the villain seemed to have an unsettling understanding of Manifest to counter every trick Tamaki pulled. He was being worn down, Suneater realized, and there seemed to be no way out. The villain was perched on the rafters of the warehouse, too high for Tamaki to reach without tentacles and the tentacles were the first thing the villain made sure to disable, the initial salvo of darts that flew past his defence somehow disabling them. He couldn't afford to get hit with another of those darts thus he couldn't make any moves forward, constantly forced to defend.
And then, it happened. Tamaki lost his footing and as he fell, leaving him wide open, he realised that this was how he was going to die and that he didn't get to go to that new hotpot restaurant with Fatgum or that beachtrip Mirio and Nejire had planned and he was going to be skewered with darts coated with who knows what and they're going to find his body looking like a macabre pincushion and he didn't want to die looking like a pincushion in fact he didn't want to die at all-
The attacks stopped.
Tamaki looked up at the villain perching on the rafters like an owl, only to see the masked man looking intensely at something on the floor. Following the gaze, Tamaki found the Fatgum bracelet the hero had given him that very morning, which must have fallen out of one of his pockets when he fell, lying on the ground. Before Tamaki could ponder why a bracelet would prompt a villain to stop their attack especially when they were about to win, the villain spoke for the first time, shocking him with the rather young voice.
"Is that", began the man as he put that demented gun away, "the limited edition Fatgum bracelet that has not yet been released to the public?"
Tamaki, who had no idea what was happening and pretty sure he was hallucinating didn't answer for a while. Then the man wrenched his eyes from the bracelet and looked pointedly at him and Tamaki's brain rebooted enough for him squeak out a "yes".
The villain seemed to think about something for several minutes before speaking again.
"Can I have it?", the madman asked the hero student who he had been attacking quite viciously not even five minutes prior.
Tamaki just could not compute.
"Yes?", he said nonetheless, afraid of provoking this evidently insane villain.
Then to his amazement, the villain beamed at him, an expression that was altogether terrifying and jumped down from their perch, almost giving Tamaki a heart attack, only for something in his boots to slow down his descent, and landed perfectly on the ground. He then started walking towards Tamaki, while taking off his mask.
Whatever Tamaki had been imagining under that mask, the face of a young, literally green, and quite frankly adorable teenager, wasn't it. He didn't even have time to process that fact that the scary villain who had kept him on the backfoot for the last hour was someone younger than him before the kid in question had grabbed both his hands and sparkled at him. If he hadn't had practice with Mirio's sunshine smiles, Tamaki would've surely gone blind.
"Hi", said the terrible terror, "I'm Midoriya Izuku! I'm actually not a villain by the way. I'm an aspiring hero student who wants to get into UA. This was all part of the Crime exam portion! Sorry for troubling you! But thank you for the Fatgum merchandise. It would've been impossible for me to get it otherwise with how busy I'm with the entrance exam and all. It's really nice of you to give me precious merch like that Suneater!"
The green teenager sparkled at him again.
'It had nothing to do with me being nice', the hero student thought hysterically.
Tamaki, honestly didn't know how to deal with all this. He had been ruthlessly hunted down... for the entrance exam? He needed to sit down.
Still shaken, Tamaki did just that, sliding down the wall to sit on the ground, while the green battle broccoli excitedly examined his new merch. Five minutes passed, then ten, then fifteen. The green one gave no indication of stopping his examination of the bracelet. Finally after twenty awkward minutes, hero student looked at his attacker and tentatively asked the question that had been plaguing him for a while now.
"Why me? Why did you choose me to be your entrace test crime?"
The other teenager looked at him. He seemed to be contemplating something.
"Well", he began, putting the Fatgum bracelet into a pouch in his utility belt, "I was going for the entire two birds with one stone kind of deal you know? I'm an anxious sort of person in general and I wanted to make sure I absolutely got into UA, so I decided to do more than one crime in case just one didn't work out. Attacking a Hero on patrol, abducting them, and coercing them to do something would've been three crimes at once yeah? But you're so nice and gave me hero merchandise and that too limited edition! So I'm cancelling this one! No worries!"
The batshit crazy teen beamed at him as if what he just said wasn't terrifying. Most people just shoplift or used their quirk illegally, not hunt someone down like they were prey.
"Still doesn't explain why you chose me though", Tamaki said calmly, possibly more calmly than he had said anything else in his life. Must be the shock...
"Oh, I just wanted your help in committing treason."
Tamaki's breath hitched.
Midoriya continued on nonchalantly, as if what he just said was common knowledge and not a state secret.
"Amajiki Tamaki, half Japanese, half Indian Tamil, hero name Suneater, third year UA student, part of the prestigious Yuuei Big Three, currently interning under the BMI Hero: Fatgum. Quirk is called Manifest. Code name assigned by the Government of Japan, Kraken. For your UA entrance exam crime, you and your partner committed high treason in both Japan and India, and assisted high treason in thirteen countries, including Russia, the United States, France, Britain and Germany. Your records have been sealed and destroyed bar two, with the only surviving digital copy in an isolated server in a HPSC secret location and the only remaining hard-copy in a secure location known to a grand total of seven people in the world including Principal Nedzu of UA. Currently the only people who know of your activities during that period are those with highest of clearances and among them only few are aware of the complete details. They have been sworn to silence. The mostly likely reason you have a hood in your uniform is not only because of your social anxiety, which mood, but also because you do not want certain people to recognize you. You and your partner were asked to sign a contract with multiple governments and agencies to complete certain assignments for them, although Principal Nedzu somehow managed to wrangle them in your favour, where you get paid and the missions have to be pre-approved by either Nedzu or the Erasure Hero: Eraserhead, who stood as witness to the signing of the contract on behalf of the Japanese government, also something orchestrated by Principal Nedzu".
Tamaki was pretty sure he was dying. No-one should know about Tamaki's dark past. You needed X-level clearance to know about that phase of his life! How does this-
"I have my ways Amajiki-san."
Holy shit! Can this kid read minds?!
"No, I can't read minds Amajiki-san!", the hellspawn chirped happily.
Tamaki.exe. has stopped working. If he was buffering before, he's straight up Error 404 now.
This child was born of the Great Abyss, Tamaki decided. Some Eldritch Monster's beloved progeny surely...
Because...because no-one else would be cruel enough to....expose his embarrassing treasonous phase would they? Its like someone knowing your chunnibyo years! So embarrassing! He was weirdly into treason that time okay? He'd just been trying to shoplift a piece of candy from a convenience store but there were actual thieves robbing the store at the time and then the police came and he ran away with the real thieves like an idiot and then somehow met another guy who was coincidentally in the same situation and they both ran away from the actual thieves who had realized that they were two people extra and both he and Seiji weren't really sure their crime counted so just to be safe they committed treason. And it was like a gateway drug and they just went on committing and assisting treasonous acts the entire time and it's soooooooooooooooo embarrassing. He told Mirio and Nejire that he loitered to avoid the humiliation of being perceived. He and Seiji had promised to never speak of their edgy era ever again!
Tamaki was jolted out of his spiralling thoughts on the mortification of being known by the sound of his apparently future kohai.
"Um...Tamaki-san? Would you still be willing to teach me how to commit treason?"
Then this monster of a child....fidgeted.
"Please?"
Adorable.
'A small animal', thought Amajiki Tamaki, 'the Rabbit of Caerbannog when it's still deciding whether it should maul you or not".
Then Tamaki evidently lost his shit because the next thing out of his mouth was not the hysterical laughter that's been stuck in his throat for a while now but,
"Let's start with Russia."
The green haired teenager smiled at him.
Amajiki Tamaki realized he just sold his soul to a particularly green devil.
Miles away, Aizawa Shouta shivered as shivers ran down his spine.
