Flufftober Day 14: Butterfly garden w/ Mirio Togata

Word count: 1.3k, Gender-Neutral reader

The sun shone through the sky confidently as the four of you made your way into the beautiful gardens. You and Mirio hand in hand while Tamkai and Neijire followed closely behind. The gardens were thankfully not as crowded as you would have expected, giving it a transcendent-like atmosphere.

You pull Mirios hand along excitedly as you are given free range. He follows you inside the butterfly garden with a smile on his face as he looks around in awe at the beautiful butterflies dancing around them, his eyes sparkling with excitement as he looks at you. “Wow... this place is amazing.” He says, his voice filled with wonder as he looks at all the different butterflies fluttering around them.

You nod and point “Look at the monarchs!” With a gasp, you let go of his hand, heading over to one of the many gardens within the area. Mirio follows you, his eyes widening as he sees the beautiful butterflies fluttering around the plants. “They're so pretty…” He says, his eyes following the butterflies as they flit from one flower to the next, his smile widening as he watches you admiring them. 

He walks up next to you, his eyes filled with admiration and love as he watches your reaction. He reaches out and takes your hand in his, holding it tightly as he smiles at you. “They're almost as beautiful as you.” You chuckle at his statement, “Aw Mirio, you're so cheesy!” Walking through the tidy gardens, The two of you see Neijire and Tamaki enjoying themselves a bit away near the small waterfall. The water reflects off the light almost hypnotically. This place was truly a dream.

He chuckles along with you, his hand still holding yours as you walk. “Looks like they're having fun too.” His eyes avert back to the butterflies fluttering around the two of you. 

“This was an awesome idea!” You chirp up, walking towards one of the rooms to read the facts about the certain butterflies encapsulating you. He follows you, his eyes scanning over the information about the different butterfly species. He nods in agreement at your comment, “It was a great idea, I'm having so much fun, baby.” His eyes are still scanning over the information as he stands next to you, his hand squeezing yours softly. 

As you’re reading, you feel something light land unto your forehead. You tried to look up, seeing a glimpse of black and blue fluttering. Quickly, you hit Mirio softly to get his attention, trying not to scare it away. He looks over at you as you hit him, his eyebrows raising curiously as he sees the butterfly resting on your forehead. “Whoa, hold still” He says quietly, a soft smile on his face as he marvels at the beautiful butterfly resting on your forehead. “I'm tryin’!” You whisper-shout as you continue observing the creature up close. “Quick! Take a picture, Mirio!” 

He quickly pulls out his phone, trying his best to stop himself from laughing at how sweet you look with the insect. He holds up his phone and snaps a picture of you, the butterfly still resting on your forehead. “Did ya get it?” He looks at his phone, checking the picture he took of you. He smiles and nods. “Yeah! I got it. And it's adorable.” He says, showing you the picture. You chuckle at your face, seeing how the butterfly rendered you defenseless. 

Suddenly you furrow your brows causing the butterfly to fly back to its friends. “That was awesome!” Your smile radiates onto Mirio, admiring his award winning smile. As you look behind the overgrown vines, the sun casts a warm glow about half way down the sky. “The sun looks so beautiful from here… let's head into the main garden with the others.” He was feeling just as awestruck as you were, nodding in agreement. 

“It must look even more beautiful from there!” He says, his hand taking yours as he starts walking.

The two of you continue walking until you notice a cute oak bridge across the main attraction: a pond. You reach the middle of the bridge looking out onto the pond covered in lily pads and swarmed with the butterflies. Mirio gazes out at the pond, admiring the clusters of lily pads and butterflies that flutter around them. He squeezes your hand as he takes in the beauty of nature around him, his eyes sparkling with wonder. “This is incredible…” He says softly, turning to look at you with a smile on his face.

Your eyes widen from all of the eye-catching sights engulfing you, “I know right... so gorgeous” He gazes at you, mesmerized by the way the sunlight dances across your face and the way your eyes light up with wonder. He squeezes your hand again, his heart swelling with love and affection. “It's absolutely breathtaking... it seems the scenery somehow amplified your beauty by a million.” 

You look over at him albeit bashfully, leaning into him more. “Aw Mirio! No way! This view takes the cake for sure!” 

He smiles, his arm wrapping around your waist. “Yes way,lovebug! You're always more beautiful than anything else.” He says, his tone soft and affectionate as he pulls you a little closer. 

“Alright ya big softie.” You lean your head onto him, sighing contently, “Wish we could stay here forever” He smiles, feeling your head rest on his shoulder, and wraps his arm around you a little tighter. He lets out a soft sigh, his voice quiet and earnest, “Me too... just you, me, and nature forever. That'd be perfect.”

After a moment of silence he chirps up, “You know what would make this even more perfect?” You hum in acknowledgement. He smiles, his expression a mix of affection and mischief as he looks down at you, his arm still around your waist. 

“A kiss.” He says, his voice soft and teasing as he grins at you.

You chuckle at his request, now facing him as you lean up to his built stature. He grins at your laugh, loving the sound of it as he leans down towards you, his arm still around your waist as he slowly moves his free hand up to your chin, tilting your head up towards him, his eyes full of love and affection, He hastily leans down and presses his lips against yours in a tender, lingering kiss. 

You smile into the kiss gleefully, holding onto his arm, tracing slow circles hoping to savor the moment forever. He lets out a soft hum at the feeling of your fingers on his arm, his hand moving from your chin to your cheek, his thumb stroking your skin gently. He deepens the kiss, his lips moving against yours with a mix of tenderness and passion.

Suddenly– there's a clearing of a throat. Mirio pulls away from the kiss, a little startled by Neijire's sudden interruption. He looks over at her, his cheeks a little flushed, and smiles embarrassedly. He clears his throat and grins sheepishly. Neijire peers at you, stifling a laugh. 

“Hey, Nejire... how long have you been standing there?” He looks down at you, still smiling sheepishly, his hand still gently caressing your cheek, before turning back to Neijire. She shrugs, placing her hands behind her innocently, “Long enough! You lovebirds fuel my sweet tooth!” 

Mirio groans, rolling his eyes playfully. He smiles again, his hand still on your cheek. “Oh shut up, Nejire. You're just jealous you don't have anyone to fuel your sweet tooth.” He teases, his tone lighthearted as he places a hand upon his hip.

You slap his chest playfully before pulling away from the intimate interaction, keeping your fingers interlocked with his. He laughs as you slap his chest, pretending to be hurt as he squeezes your hand, “Hey, that hurt!” He says, pouting at you with an exaggerated painful expression. 

Sharing a couple laughs, the three of you regrouped back into the monarch section, talking about the new facts you’ve learned, beautiful photos you’ve taken and saving the shared memories in the confides of one another.
