I've been playing Fallout New Vegas and I admit the challenges get rather not challenging if you dedicate yourself to the way of combat drugs, but I am having a lot of fun.
Compression meant motion blur looked trash, but with a zoomed in view showing it off one can imagine the full image as intended.
#giant robo-scorpion#rawr#legendary bloatfly#they all fall to the might of the junkie with a power fist#i did a thing#technically Yao Guai Meat and Weapon Binding Ritual are missing but they don't look very interesting anyway so *shrug*#also not pictured: radaway#getting hit once with 85% rad resistance you still need a dose of radaway

X-22 12/20/81
Looks like this mysterious wanderer in the Big MT was "Elijah", part of the Brotherhood of Steel. Now that I think about it, I recall his name being passed around back at Hidden Valley. He was being stalked by a Brotherhood assassin, but also looks to have crossed paths with a courier.
The way it sounds, he wasn't talking about me, because the other courier had mentioned a Sierra Madre. While going around the terminals here I can see quite a bit of their markings.
Whoever has been painting that stars and stripes flag all over the place has actually helped me out quite a bit in finding stashes, so thanks a lot.
X-22 research station looks to be one of the more interesting ones I've found. I can see some of the spore life that I saw back in Vault 22, a promising alternative (or use?) of the GECK but may be hard to haul back east.
I found some of the cleanest water near a hydrothermal plant in the crater. If I could only figure out this technology we could really clean up the water in these wastes. As I meet more people, I start to understand why this was so important to my father.

Fallout: New Vegas: Legendary Bloatfly
Pictured: The Legendary Bloatfly, a large, unique Bloatfly that glows green and fires plasma-like projectiles, found at the Mysterious Cave in Old World Blues.
Upon death, it explodes into a pile of goo and drops Drained Microfusion Cells, Psycho and Buffout.
Its projectile deals 300 damage, making the battle between the Courier and itself difficult. You can check out the page for the Legendary Bloatfly here:

Been playing a lot of fallout 4 recently (I’ve become obsessed with the franchise again) and it’s super fun despite the limited dialogue and annoying companion behavior but there is one thing I can absolutely not stand
The Bugs
I swear the amount of times a rad roach has jump scared me and the horrid discomfort I feel when a blood bug charges me or when a bloatfly is attacking me makes certain areas Of this game difficult if not impossible for me to go through
Maybe thats how it’s designed but regardless it’s awful. Especially the legendary ones, I legit need to avoid every legendary bug I come across because the amount of discomfort I feel around a normal bug is bad enough, but when that discomfort is dragged out 10 times as a long? No fucking thanks!
Still love the game tho glad I can finally play it for myself

Maddie introduces Mothra to Fallout: New Vegas, and they’re getting to that one cave in Old World Blues that happens to be the home of the Legendary Bloatfly…
Mothra, panicking: What-- WHAT-- OH MY-- WHAT THE HELL?!
Maddie: Oh shit... welp, say hi to the Legendary Bloatfly!
Mothra: WHAT IS THIS?! OH GOD, IT'S SHOOTING PLASMA?!
Maddie: Yeeeeeah, that does the same damage as a Deathclaw Alpha Male. And it has twice the Legendary Deathclaw's health!
Mothra: W H Y

I've been playing on Very Hard which is my usual (I really should have used an overhaul mod for difficulty but still, I enjoy what basic bullet sponge insta-death Very Hard can do in these games sometimes)
And I have trash on hand to deal with stuff in the dlc, but I HAD to take out the Legendary Bloatfly.
I'm pretty sure I didn't on my last playthrough? Maybe I'm wrong, but I figured I had to make up for that so I spent a while chipping away at a fast as hell fly that can one shot me at any moment and I came out the victor :)

hell now that i think about it they should all be buffed (cept the legendary bloatfly. fuck that guy), especially the legendary deathclaw
give 'em a buncha perks normally exclusive to the player. like adamantium skeleton. or stonewall. or a 10-33% resistance to all damage. make 'em stick out as a difficult encounter.
it'd be neat if the legendary creatures in fnv (nightstalker, cazador, deathclaw, etc) had unique models. like, maybe they'd be all scarred up with bullet wounds, laser burns, and shrapnel to show how tough they are.
maybe the legendary deathclaw's mouth n' claws could be dyed red with aged blood, n' it could have a human head stuck on one of it's horns.
while im on the topic, im surprised theres no challenge or achievement for killing all of the legendary creatures. you'd think there'd be one.

Something I’ve been thinking abt: legendary creatures in the Mojave having something to do with qualtoth by way of their fuckoff massive size, power and scariness (except the legendary bloatfly, that was just the Big MT scientists fucking around and playing god as usual)
i could squint at that and draw a line but i don't think there's any compelling evidence for that when they could just be huge mutants
i don't remember any legendary beasts aside from big bugs? and i thought those were from warzones or something. maybe a big mole rat...? i guess there's an elemental ghost yaoi guai but im pretty much positive six was just tripping dicks and stabbed a bear
its super cool that youre trying to help me find connections thank u 🚀

Fallout Themed “Get to Know me”
tagged by @emiratexaaron. Blast, I didn’t even realize I got tagged!
FIRST ENCOUNTER WITH FALLOUT:
Ye gods, I was maybe... We’re gonna go early teens. I remember watching Fallout 3 on my father’s computer, and having been someone who had played Oblivion to death, the graphics were amazing.
And then I got a hold of it, and didn’t immediately put God Mode on, and actually learned how to play a Bethseda game for once.
NAME OF FIRST CHARACTER To be honest, I don’t honestly remember. I was a kid who tended to blunder into games like nobody’s business. So I really can’t remember my first.
... I can remember that I tried to create the Fonz at one point in FO3. So High Charisma, wears the Tunnel Snakes Jacket, good Repair and Speech skill.
DUMB WAYS TO DIE, SO MANY DUMB WAYS TO DIE: I. Hate. Reaver Ghouls.
Falling off Bridges
How bout opening up a can of AcciDeathclaw in Fallout New Vegas?
Pissing off Legion at the wrong time.
NEW VEGAS. LEGENDARY. BLOATFLY.
Trying to make a run North of Goodsprings.
Trying to run away from North of Good Springs...
Geckos in Fallout 2.
Talking Pig Rats in Fallout 2.
Rats in Fallout 1.
Really, the list could go on.
WHAT WOULD I IMPROVE IN FALLOUT 4: *cracks knuckles*
Where do I start.
For one thing, Bring back the Dark Comedy that Fallout is known for. Fallout 4 is too damn bleak, made bleaker by its poorly executed message of “Never give up Hope”.
Cut out half them settlements. A few of them you can’t even build anything on (LOOKIN AT YOU COSTAL COTTAGE).
How about fix those Character plot-holes? Like what was Nick’s take on the Ghoul Removal from Diamond City. He’s been there for nearly 60 years.
Where are the Fallout ZAX?
Add Centaurs. Yes, from the Concept art. Fallout 4 wants Bleak? We’ll make it bloody horrific.
How about more lore-backing to the cap system, hm? Original Fallout, it had been the water traders and their show of force. Here is... cos they want to? You can dig a thing anywhere for clean water, so maybe the trade off could be food. Or maybe make it more mafia theme’d, like its Triggerman enforced or something.
Speaking of Which, can we have more revelance to the Triggermen? We have a Detective with all the Perks for the gods’ sake. Make something of ‘em. Fallout 4 is clearly Fallout Noir to New Vegas’s Fallout Western, let’s go all out.
I want to build a Synth.
How about the Minutemen? What they could’ve done is expanded it more than just from the Castle. Look, all other Factions have bases and set missions from bases that apply to their respective storylines. The Minutemen’s stops at getting a base. Why is that? Why not bring in that Minutemen-Gunner war? How about having the end of the Minutemen Quest be “Taking Quincy Back!”.
Speaking of which, let’s redo that Minutemen Intro a bit. How about... Billy the Ghoul’s Family! Yes, I mean the Ghoul kid. Remove that stupid Fridge quest, and add them to the original roster of Settlers that Preston Garvey is protecting. It’d introduce your character to Ghouls right off the bat without issue (Since there wasn’t a bloody introduction to ghouls).
How about where the Hell the rest of the Minutemen groups were when Qunicy was attacked. The only two you run into were recently Gunners, or turned Raider years ago.
WHAT ABOUT THOSE TIMED MISSIONS BETHSEDA.
How about a bit more interaction with the world from the Companion’s side? If you take a look at Outer Worlds, made by the creators of the original Fallout, the Companions do have an impact when they’re around and it affects and changes the world around them. When you have a Companion in Fallout 4, they’re more like Ghosts with tiny but ultimately meaningless interactions here and there. - I want to be able to call out Piper on her Yellow Journalism, and actually see an increase in News papers around the Commonwealth if I help her. Plus, not just earn her perk, but also gain the ability to create News Paperstands / Printing Presses in Settlements in order to help build the infrastructure of News. You can even add missions about gathering Paper or Printing Parts. - I want to be able to have trading interactions with Goodneighbor, thus giving a reason to have Hancock as a successful companion outside of him being a real cool ghoul. - If you let Danse survive, how about not just letting him grow out of his bigotted views, but let him train Minutemen in weapons, in armor, and in tactics and having a command. - If you help Curie, imagine the improvement of Health for your settlements. Imagine who she could teach for Doctors and Medics, and actually give the Commonwealth a Healthcare system again. - PRESTON IS YOUR BATMAN (I mean the military term, but its funnier if you don’t know the alternative meaning). - Y’know, I would’ve liked to have seen Duncan.
For Companions: -
And the Fucking Institute. An attempt to be the Big MT, and failing that. They could’ve done wacky mad science and still been 50s B-Movie levels of seriousness, y’know? We got so many hints on what they’re like, and they failed to live up to it! We have the visual evidence and dialogue that Gen1 and Gen2 tend to literally dissect / pull things apart by their bare hands. We could’ve seen more of that. What do they do to all those people they kidnap? ... Where did they get the Super Mutants from. How about the Synth v1 Gen3s? Y’know, the one’s that Look like Gen 3s, but have machine parts inside. There could’ve been more mad science, more B-Movie levels of sholy hit. Grossly mutated animals, brains in jars, unique robots, the works!
How about we have something akin to the Master directing the Super Mutants. This was a problem / thing I had with FO3 too. The original Super Mutants had a Psychic Master entity, so why not the East Coast mutants?
How about an explanation as to why the Assaultron is only in Boston.
Where the hell is the Rest of Boston.
How about being capable of directing Minutemen groups to weed out or scavange an area? I don’t have time for all this Missions Present, we have a Castle Now, SEND SOMEONE ELSE.
How about instead of going after Kellogg, Kellogg comes after you. The Director is dying, and you’re the Backup. This would associate you with the Institute just as early as the Minutemen, Maybe. And then, you can take the game into whatever direction you want. - Explore the Glowing Sea by yourself, we’re busy.
Mix Pickman’s Gallery and Cabot House... As one mini-storyline.
Add more cases for Valentine, such as Diamond City Blues and Mystery Meat... Possibly even Cabot House.
Where on Earth is the Brotherhood getting all those Vertibirds... Do they have a factory? Those things blow up if you look at them wrong--- WHERE ARE THEY GETTING THEM.
Replace most of the Generic Raiders with named Raiders, not unlike Fallout 1. Have more Gunners, Rust Devils, the Nuka World Parties; more development at Libertalia.
How about more branching options to deal with Kellogg.
Add a bit of a reputation system for Cities you can’t make a settlement from. Boosting faction or trade routes or really, anything other than sitting there.
... So to sum it up.
I’d do practically a rewrite of Fallout 4.
... ye Gods.
Not tagging anyone cos, well, I don’t know that many people who play fallout that weren’t already tagged...

I just found your New Vegas posts, and I sense a lot of hostility towards Lonesome road. Why?
The core problem with Lonesome Road is that it is, and I don’t say this lightly, the kind of writing I would expect from Bethesda.
Everything happens because the plot says so regardless of whether it makes any sense for the player to do, or in-universe. It tries to tell me how I feel, chastises me for decisions I did not make, and pokes holes in the worldbuilding. The whole narrative and its message rely on too many contrivances to make sense.
“This is your road. When you come, you’ll walk it alone.” The first area gave me a robot companion who follows me for the majority of the DLC and whom I regularly speak to… Wait, was that a pun about ED-E not having legs? I walk, but he floats?
Also, why can’t I bring companions to the Divide? In Dead Money and Old World Blues the Courier was kidnapped, then in Honest Hearts you travel as an employee of a caravan to the new location and they only have one opening. For Lonesome Road, you don’t bring backup because the plot says you don’t. That’s the justification of a lot of the DLC. Everything happens because that’s what happens.
“You had the option to turn back at any time, your refusal to do so put everyone at risk.” Bullshit, Ulysses had access to functional ICBMs and could probably have gone to get the components he needed if pressed. There are dozens of warheads lying around and he knows where the detonator is. Plus, he threatened that he would destroy the Mojave anyway, I wasn’t going to take that lightly and wouldn’t assume he was bluffing.
Even when I wasn’t aware Ulysses wanted components from ED-E, I knew he was tracking me through the robot (and also broadcasting annoying dialogue at me) so I would’ve left ED-E and gone on alone if that was an option. The game wouldn’t let me, because the plot said I had to bring him.
“The destruction around you is your fault.” I (supposedly) destroyed the Divide by accident. The guilt trip rings a little hollow coming from Ulysses, who wiped out New Canaan on purpose. He also nearly wrecked the entire wasteland by releasing the Think Tank and directed Elijah to the Sierra Madre, all of which are messes I had to clean up. Also, I’ve probably killed more people deliberately than I did at the Divide, I didn’t regret those, I’m not going to regret this.
“Ulysses will nuke the NCR if you don’t stop him.” I’m a Wild Card player who’s planning to transform New Vegas into high-tech development center by empowering the Followers of the Apocalypse with Enclave/Big Empty/Sierra Madre tech rather than continue Mr. House’s tourist economy. I don’t hate NCR, but cutting off their biggest supply line so they can’t invade would be doing me a favor, though I stopped the launch anyway because I want there to be less radiation in the world. Ulysses’ plan is based on my good standing with the NCR, and there’s no way to make it clear I’m not working for them, I’m working against the Legion.
“You should feel bad for your character’s role in destroying the society in the Divide.” What society? I couldn’t find any evidence of people living here prior to the nuclear detonations, only the Marked Men, who are all NCR or Legion soldiers, no locals among them. One of the ranger logs mentions a tribal society, that’s it. The only records were from before the war. The Tunnelers might be mutated humans who lived there, but it’s not clear, I thought they were mutant humanoid reptiles like the Lakelurks. Ulysses hates me for destroying a fledgling nation, one that was supposedly the hope of the wasteland, but I know nothing about it and my character doesn’t even remember. He just made up a complicated backstory about how important the Courier and the Divide were to each other, putting him somewhere on the intellectual level of Fantastic.
I’m serious. Please explain to me how “Before you… this is the edge of the Divide. Ahead lies your work, the history you burned in the earth. What you brought to the people here.” and “I read numbers. Sometimes I make up little stories in my head about what the numbers mean.” don’t convey similarly warped interpretations of reality.
“The Tunnelers are an imminent threat to the Mojave, even tougher than Deathclaws.” No, they aren’t. Maybe I’m just that unstoppable, but the Tunnelers were never a serious threat. As for being tougher than Deathclaws, the game mechanics make it clear they aren’t. Deathclaws can tank several hits from the toughest Tunnelers, whom they can easily one-shot at higher levels. The Tunnelers only killed a Deathclaw in a scripted event. And they definitely aren’t any worse than Cazadores. Those things actually can fight Deathclaws, I tested that out at the Thorn.
“The Divide will tear at you.” In Lonesome Road I had plenty of anti-rad drugs, could kill Rawr in two shots, and viewed the Marked Men more as walking sacks of cash than serious threats to the point I took it on at Level 2, making trips between the Divide and the Gun Runners to sell all the loot. The only part that gave me any trouble was that Deathclaw spawning outside a trailer after I entered it. I still killed it.
The Sierra Madre was worse, and developed more effectively from a gameplay perspective. I managed with the right perks and skills, but between the toxic cloud, invincible holograms, shielded speakers, the Ghost People’s resurrection ability, and the crushing weight of those gold bars, Dead Money was full of obstacles which could not be easily circumvented. Where LR tries and fails to convey a feeling of isolation because you have a friendly companion, DM punctuates its loneliness by forcing you to work with allies who would probably kill you if they could, and might try later. Y’all want challenge and danger until you get it.
“You have to sacrifice ED-E to stop the missiles. Can you bear killing him?” I absolutely can. ED-E is a copy of the Mojave ED-E, and the ending slides make it clear the Divide version transmitted all relevant data to the Mojave, something I expected to happen, so I stopped the missiles while losing nothing. There are no negative consequences for me. He’s fine.
“Stories spread of the battle between the two Couriers.” Told by who? Literally no one saw the fight and lived except the Courier. No one goes to the Divide, the Marked Men ain’t exactly chatty. Were there recording devices? Was ED-E transmitting everything? How does anyone else know what happened well enough for me to get a reputation boost? Also, the confrontation was over in seconds, fighting the Legendary Bloatfly was more intense.
“The Courier tore the ancient flag of the Commonwealth from its cables, and cast it over the corpse, though whether done as a sign of respect, or in anger for what had been endured to reach this moment - that is unknown.” No, I didn’t. I killed Ulysses with a .50 explosive round to the back of his head, looted his body, threw his remains down a missile silo, then tossed some frag grenades down after it because he was rude to my robot. His body was in chunks. I went back after the ending to check, it was still there. As for what had been “endured”, Ulysses did not inflict significant physical or emotional harm upon me. I lost exactly one hit point in the Courier’s Mile, you can do the math on how tough the rest was on me. Don’t ever imply I respect Ulysses.
The problem with Ulysses as a character is that he makes a lot of assumptions about me, my motivations, and how I work when New Vegas’s strength lies in providing a variety of options. Avellone wanted him to be the Courier’s antithesis, but there are so many choices you can make he ran into the problem of making Ulysses every Courier’s antithesis regardless of their faction, morality, personality, or skills, and he makes no sense as a result. You can’t have a character who’s opposed to both an evil low-intelligence legionary and a sneaky pro-independence member of the FoA. He’s just a pretentious dumbass who wants to blow everyone up.

OC As Companion Meme
NAME: Marcus (The Sniper of Sanctuary)
FOUND: Renting a room at the Dugout Inn in Diamond City.
COMPANION PERK:
· Recon Expert (if “Good Ending” is achieved during personal mission) – Highlights enemies and allies when aiming down the sights. When using V.A.T.S with a sniper rifle, chances of hitting are significantly higher.
· Best Served Cold (if “Bad Ending” is achieved during personal mission) – The last bullet in the magazine will have a random legendary effect. Kills also increase movement speed and damage for a few seconds (stackable effect).
WEAPON OF CHOICE:
· “Reason” – Modified Sniper Rifle (Ranged option)
· Combat Knife (Melee Option)
Dialogue and personal mission info below cut (warning, I’ve gone way overboard with this one!):
I THINK WE SHOULD TRAVEL TOGETHER:
"Is that so? Well then, lead the way.”
“Sounds good. We going anywhere nice?”
“Just let me get everything I need. Nothing wrong with being prepared.”
(After reaching max affinity – Good Ending) “Don’t have to ask me twice. Lead the way.”
(After reaching max affinity – Bad Ending) “Took you long enough. I was starting to get an itchy trigger finger.”
(Romance) “For you? Anything.”
USE MELEE:
“Are you sure?”
“You… do know what they call me, right?”
“Bit close, no?”
(After reaching max affinity – Good Ending) “You know me well enough to know this isn’t a good idea.”
(After reaching max affinity – Bad Ending) “Sure. Just point me at them.”
(Romance) “I’m not sure about this one, babe.”
USE RANGED:
"Oh yeah, now we’re talking!”
“Got your six.”
“Reason… how I’ve missed you.”
(After reaching max affinity – Good Ending) – “Damn straight! I’ll cover you.”
(After reaching max affinity – Bad Ending) – “One shot, one kill. Easy.”
(Romance) – “Just think of me as your personal guardian angel.”
OPEN INVENTORY:
"Are you… rummaging through my bag?”
“Let me guess. You’ve picked up more stuff...”
“Y’know, some might call these treasures… yep, they’d be right.”
(After reaching max affinity – Good Ending) – “Deposit or withdrawal?”
(After reaching max affinity – Bad Ending) – “All I need is my gun. Take the rest.”
(Romance) – “Y’know, you might be taking this ‘what’s mine is yours’ stuff a bit too literally…
IF OVERENCUMBERED:
“You may be strong but carrying half the Commonwealth in your pockets isn’t a great idea.”
“I’ve seen Mama Murphy move quicker than this.”
“No hurry, huh? No no, that’s fine. Gives us time to appreciate the dead trees and scorched earth.”
(After reaching max affinity – Good Ending) – “Don’t take this the wrong way but do you really need all of that junk?”
(After reaching max affinity – Bad Ending) – “Drop what you don’t need. It’ll just slow you down.”
(Romance) – “Need me to lend a hand, babe?”
STAY CLOSE:
“Keeping me close, eh? Good call.”
“Right behind you.”
“If I get too close, just let me know. Personal boundaries are tricky.”
(After reaching max affinity – Good Ending) – “Sure thing. Friends stick together.”
(After reaching max affinity – Bad Ending) – “Get behind me.”
(Romance) – “Aww, you want me close?”
KEEP DISTANCE:
“Overwatch? Got it.”
“Sure thing. Just shout if you need me.”
“We should really work out a hand signal system.”
(After reaching max affinity – Good Ending) – “Sure you won’t miss me too much?”
(After reaching max affinity – Bad Ending) – “Moving now.”
(Romance) – “Can do. I’ll follow your lead.”
STEALTH:
“Like a ninja…”
“Stick to the shadows.”
“Never gonna see us coming…”
(After reaching max affinity – Good Ending) – “Following your lead, just say the word.”
(After reaching max affinity – Bad Ending) – “In position. Ready to take the shot.”
(Romance) – “I love these little quiet moments together. Don’t you?”
BACKUP:
“I don’t smell that bad, do I?”
“Moving.”
“You got it.”
(After reaching max affinity – Good Ending) – “Yep. Too close. Got it.”
(After reaching max affinity – Bad Ending) – “Uh huh.”
(Romance) – “Sure thing, babe.”
BE PASSIVE:
“Sorry, that was just the adrenaline. Won’t happen again.”
“Calm down? Got it.”
"Please… I’m like a teddy bear. A teddy bear with a sniper rifle.”
(After reaching max affinity – Good Ending) – “No guns? Sure thing, we can play it cool.”
(After reaching max affinity – Bad Ending) – “Fine.”
(Romance) – “We can sweet talk our way out of this one. No need for hostility.”
BE AGGRESSIVE:
“*under his breath* Never fire without a reason…”
“Guns ready.”
“Yeah, this place does look kinda sketchy.”
(After reaching max affinity – Good Ending) – “Don’t worry, I’ve got my eyes peeled!”
(After reaching max affinity – Bad Ending) – “Ready to fire. Just let them give me a reason.”
(Romance) – “We can handle this. Together.”
USE STIMPAK:
“Ahh, I needed that.”
“Can’t beat a healthy cocktail of painkillers, anti-coagulants, and Atom knows what else...”
“Thanks, I owe you a beer once we’re safe.”
(After reaching max affinity – Good Ending) – “Thanks, partner. Owe you one.”
(After reaching max affinity – Bad Ending) – “Damn! Shouldn’t have gone down!”
(Romance) – “Thanks, babe. Shall we get back to it?”
WAIT HERE:
"You are coming back… aren’t you?”
“Sure, I’ll just secure this little patch of dirt here...”
“You’re not gonna be long, right?”
(After reaching max affinity – Good Ending) – “I don’t really like being alone… but alright.”
(After reaching max affinity – Bad Ending) – “Fine.”
(Romance) – “If you’re sure? For you…”
FOLLOW ME:
“Thank Atom you came back!”
“I’m glad to be rid of this place. Let’s get going!”
“You’re back! Lead the way.”
(After reaching max affinity – Good Ending) – “I knew you’d be back! Shall we get out of here?”
(After reaching max affinity – Bad Ending) – “About time. Let’s leave this place far behind.”
(Romance) – “Don’t need to ask me twice!”
DISMISSED:
“Aww, well don’t be a stranger.”
“Time for a celebratory drink… or five.”
“Who knows, maybe I’ll be watching over you… not in a creepy way. I’m just gonna leave now.”
(After reaching max affinity – Good Ending) – “See you soon, friend.”
(After reaching max affinity – Bad Ending) – “Time to hunt raiders solo.”
(Romance) – “Make sure you eat. And keep hydrated. And check in so I know you’re okay.”
SEND THEM HOME (FOLLOWER BASE):
“I’ll be back at the Dugout if you need me.”
"Vadim, make sure the moonshine is ready...”
“DC, the prodigal son returns.”
(After reaching max affinity – Good Ending) – “Wait until Hawthorne hears about all the adventures we’ve been having!”
(After reaching max affinity – Bad Ending) – “I’ll be at the Dugout, planning our next mission. Look me up when you’re ready.”
(Romance) – “You know where to find me, babe. Don’t be too long.”
ENEMIES (LONG RANGE - OR COMPLIMENTS ON PLAYER CHARACTER’S CONFIRMED KILL USING A SNIPER RIFLE ON LONG RANGED TARGET)
“Nice shot… almost as good as me.”
“Always aim for center mass.”
“Maybe they’ll listen to Reason.”
(Critical Kill) “Heh, show off!”
(Critical Kill) “Headshot!”
(After reaching max affinity – Good Ending) – “Sweet! Hanging out with me has really paid off, huh?”
(After reaching max affinity – Bad Ending) – “Kill confirmed. Stay alert, there might be more.”
(Romance) – “Clean shot! Maybe we should have a little contest?”
ENEMIES (CLOSE RANGE)
“Here we go…”
“Show me what you’ve got!”
"Enemies close!”
(After reaching max affinity – Good Ending) – “Maybe we could flank these guys?”
(After reaching max affinity – Bad Ending) – “Multiple hostiles!”
(Romance) – “We can take them!”
WHEN FACING:
BLOATFIES, BLOODBUGS, AND OTHER INSECTS
“Urgh, that stinks!”
“Great, do you know how long it takes to wash out bloatfly juice?”
“Woah, little bastard nearly caught my jacket!”
RAIDERS
“Let’s make this quick!”
“You really think you can win, huh?”
“You make me sick!”
MIRELURKS
“That shell won’t save you now!”
“Do you suddenly have a craving for seafood too? No… just me?”
“I wonder if you could tame these guys…?”
MIRELURK QUEEN, BEHEMOTHS, AND DEATHCLAWS
“I’m normally all for a fight but maybe we should re-evaluate this one?”
“Maybe we should try and pick them off from a distance!”
“Big game hunting, huh? Let’s do this!”
SYNTHS AND ROBOTIC ENEMIES
“Initiate command: self-destruct… no? Damn!”
“Argh, these lasers sting worse than a bloodbug bite!”
“Does not compute… does not compute… hehe…”
SUPER MUTANTS
“Come on, you dumb brute!”
“Aim for the head and stay in cover! These guys mean business!”
“HUMAN… KILL… MUTANTS!”
FERAL GHOULS
“Fast… fast fast fast, oh crap!”
“Go for the legs to slow them down!”
“*imitates ghoul scream* *coughs uncontrollably*”
WHEN ENTERING:
GOODNEIGHBOR

PERSONAL MISSION: In A Tight Spot
After reaching a high enough affinity level with Marcus, he will open up to Sole about a problem he’s facing. A while back, his friend and spotter was kidnapped and he had no idea where to find him. Recently however, he’s found a lead and is determined that it will point him in the direction of Spotter, asking Sole to consider it when they have time.
When Sole decides to help him, they head to Diamond City and talk to Nick Valentine, who gives them a report about a group of raiders who were seen with someone fitting Spotter’s description. He gives them a general area, Marcus thanks Nick, and the two of them set off. Sole and Marcus head to what seems to be an abandoned warehouse but they encounter incredibly advanced defences (laser turrets, tripwires, tough robots etc.) They find a door leading down underground, below the warehouse, and they emerge into what looks like a pre-war underground facility, not dissimilar to a vault.
In the first room, they are confronted by a man in strange power armour and – depending on the speech option chosen – they either pacify, kill, or persuade the man into sharing info. Either way, once the man is dealt with, Marcus speaks to Sole, telling them that he recognises the man as an Enclave soldier and admits to having had run-ins with the elusive group over the years. He tells Sole that he and Spotter once stole some valuable information from an Enclave facility, back when they were mercenaries, and theorises that the Enclave may have taken Spotter as they believe he may still have the information.
Marcus and Sole make their way through the underground outpost, pushing past defences and Enclave personnel until they reach the command center at the heart of the complex, where they discover an A.I named ATHENA. Upon questioning, ATHENA reveals the reason why the Enclave is in the Commonwealth, confirming Marcus’ theory that the Enclave are there to reclaim stolen information and also that the advanced research facility in which Spotter is being held.
Sole and Marcus then make their way to the research facility and fight their way through to the detention block, passing by various weapons and armour research sections (and obtaining a unique set of legendary armour and a unique legendary weapon). They finally reach the detention block to find a situation similar to the end of ‘The Silver Shroud’ quest, with Enclave soldiers facing them and an Enclave Commander with his gun to Spotter’s head. Sole then has three choices on how to proceed:
· They can persuade the commander through successively more difficult speech checks that Spotter and Marcus sold the information years ago, ending the situation non-violently and keeping Spotter alive.
· They can use V.A.T.S or Jet to slow time and quickly take out the commander and then the other soldiers, keeping Spotter alive.
· They can enter combat and if they aren’t quick enough, Spotter will be killed.
In either of the scenarios that Spotter is kept alive, the good ending is achieved. Spotter heads to Goodneighbor to “recuperate” at the Third Rail and Marcus is overall much happier and relieved, having forged a true bond of friendship with Sole. At the conclusion of the quest, Sole receives the companion perk Recon Expert.
In the scenario where Spotter is killed, the bad ending is achieved. Marcus is visibly distraught at his friend’s death but thanks Sole for trying their best to save him as it was more than anybody else had done. He asks Sole for privacy and will remain in the facility with Spotter’s body until Sole leaves. After three in-game days, Marcus will find Sole and approach, telling them that they a true friend. He will be more emotionally distanced and more aggressive towards raiders and other evil enemies. At the conclusion of the quest, Sole receives the companion perk Best Served Cold.
