I just listened to a podcast with Jeffrey Hunter’s son Chris Hunter and he’s talking about how he’s so thrilled with Anson’s casting as Pike and how he thinks Anson will be a great Pike and honor his dad, and that warmed my heart. Especially knowing that Chris also went all the way to comic con just so he could tell Anson that and be supportive. What a blessing.

Yeah. Not gonna lie. Wasn’t sold on Anson or the idea of bringing Pike back because I’m a dumb fan who has complicated feelings about the idea of continuing with Pike’s tale (I want it and don’t) and Pike is my favorite captain and legit my favorite captain and I love Jeffrey so much it’s ridiculous. But, Chris’s support kind of helped me get over my initial apprehension and I’m not 100% sold still but I’ve went out of my way to watch some of Anson’s work and he’s weird, but funny. And I still love Pike.

And if it’s shit I’ll just ignore it ever existed. LOL.

But no. Chris Hunter is my reason for so much regarding Pike right now, it’s ridic.

Scrubbing a hand down his face, Len half-turns, casting a last, disdainful glare at the readings on his monitor. They haven’t changed since he ran the damn tests, and attempting to glower them into submission hasn’t had any effect. It doesn’t make any damn sense--! Every cadet knew Charlie Archer’s story; the Buran, the Klingons, the sacrifice that poor kid had made... to say that seeing one of the ‘Fleet’s legends sitting in his medbay is surreal is really doing the abject bizarreness of the entire situation a disservice. 

Christine glances up from her PADD as he emerges from his office, nods in Charlie’s direction. The kid looks thoroughly uncomfortable and Len can’t say he blames him; he wouldn’t want anyone gawking at him either. A sigh rattles its way out of him and he approaches the biobed the kid’s parked on cautiously. “How you holdin’ up?”
