2022 kdrama/movie roundup!
It was a tough year for keeping up with anything because life, toddler, etc, but here are the things I watched, in part or whole, that I remembered. Hot Takes Incoming!
Sell Your Haunted House - Jang Nara in boots. Kang Mal-geum in dark lipstick. Touching, gay, many mother issues. The girls were fantastic. The boys weren't bad.
25 21 - I was dropped back into the 90s. Surprisingly, I didn't hate it. The girls were fantastic. Na Hee-do was correct to dump Baek Yi-jin. Moon Ji-woong, perfect boy. Ji Seung-wan for PRESIDENT!
Why Her? - Someone thought it'd be a great idea to throw Seo Hyun-jin's ex-client (shudder) current-student (TRIPLE SHUDDER) Hwang In-yeop into the romance mix when billionaire CHOI YOUNG-JOON and Crown Prince Bae In-hyuk were already there. And they thought it'd be funny if Hwang In-yeop won. NO.
Eve - The superior commentary this year on the horrors of capitalism. It ends with reparations (Park Byung-eun hands over his entire empire to Seo Yeji, who promptly divests it), rich people dying in horrible ways and Seo Yeji doing the tango. Were the makjang knobs dialled up so high they're broken? Yes. Was it fun? YES, because I got to see Park Byung-eun's range, which includes Pained Hottie, and Seo Yeji running men's feet over in cars wearing couture. We can ask for no more.
Juvenile Justice - No one asked "What happens if we take three of the most charismatic working actors in Korean entertainment today and squeezed the life out of them?" But someone answered anyway.
My Liberation Notes - Lee El, a revelation. Mr Gu, a revelation when he started talking, and not the good kind.
Grid - Kim Mu-yeol. Kim Ah-joong and Jang So-yeon had a great year. I didn't understand the time thing at all. This is a me problem, but probably the only time I'll face it this year. Right? RIGHT?
Bloody Heart - Jang Hyuk has done nothing wrong, ever. The girls were fantastic. Lee Joon, I heard your script was meant for Lee Joon-hyuk. Sorry.
Pachinko - The girls were fantastic. Kim Min-ha, baby, you're gorgeous. JUNG EUN-CHAE was everything. Sorry to Lee Min-ho, who had the tough double role of acting as Ko Hansu and also like he belonged to this cast of greats.
Our Blues - Great acting, but my own blues were sufficient for me. The girls were fantastic. Unwanted to wanted pregnancy storyline: no thanks. This is a me problem, but probably the only time I'll face it this year. Right? RIGHT?
Extraordinary Attorney Woo - 75% love; 25% NOT THIS AGAIN.
Little Women - The girls were fantastic. I ran out of air by this point in the year. I'll come back for you, gothic interior design, poison orchids, and Song Joong-ki in the best role he's played all year!
Through the Darkness - Almost too many twirling moustache psychos and dead girls. I did it for Kim Nam-gil because he's so pretty in this and in case it wasn't abundantly clear by now, I don't think with my brain. The lone living girl - Kim So-jin - was fantastic. Jin Seon-kyu, well-adjusted stealth hottie!
Reborn Rich - Samsung owes Lee Sung-min its entire semiconductor business as @rain-hat said. Lee Sung-min owes me reparations for making me watch this show for him primarily (secondarily Park Hyuk-kwon, Kim Shin-rok, Park Ji-hyun and Kim Nam-hee for their acting; Kim Young-jae because he is THE DILF). I'm manifesting NO TIMESLIPS in 2023 dramas.
Under the Queen's Umbrella - Kim Hye-soo pushing up her hanbok sleeves to carry babies and do embroidery should be projected onto my tombstone unto eternity. The girls were fantastic. And I know this is unusual, so bear with me, but: the boys? FANTASTIC ALSO.
Movies:
Vikram - Fahaadh Faasil, my thoughts are nasty and you don't want to hear them. The girls might have been fantastic had they been permitted to live and not be dumdums. That was never going to happen, of course. There was torture and a baby in significant peril, but it was also the most fun I'd had in a while. I should get my head checked.
Ponniyin Selvan - The sheer scale of work and sweat that has gone into the enterprise of making Vikram seem taller than Trisha Krishnan for the last twenty years! Iconic. The girls were fantastic.
The Naked Kitchen - This is sold as a story of a woman choosing between two men. That is a lie. It's about a man coming to terms with his marriage drifting into polyamory, and enjoying it. Shin Min-ah and Ju Ji-hoon fuck in a museum, which was also weirdly sweet.
Asura City of Madness - AHJUSSHIS WHY. Hwang Jung-min's shirttails worked very hard in 2012. Jung Woo-sung ate glass and has pathological issues about being as handsome as he is. We love him for it. We did not love this.
Hunt - Love is your bestie learning how to write and direct just to write and direct you in the role of a lifetime for you, personally. I don't know if that's what happened here, but that's what love is. And chemistry is whatever these two guys have in this completely ordinary movie that did not give any feelings. Hwang Jung-min, pussy OUT.
Decision to Leave - A well-deserved love letter to Tang Wei, just beautifully shot, gorgeous.
Il Mare - Absolutely lovely little film, reliant almost entirely on the star power of two actors who are so charismatic they don't need to meet in the movie to convince you of their romance.
Laal Singh Chaddha - There was a very beautiful wedding at the end. Aamir Khan's face must hurt.
Darlings - A movie that appreciated and respected noted hottie Shefali Shah.

Hello, it's me the anon who asked you about giving a Chimera fic prompt some time ago. Can you write a hurt/comfort (One of them is injured and the other is taking care of him) + their first kiss fic for Cha Jaehwan & Lee Joongyeop.
You can write this when you are free or feel like. I don't mind waiting. So, take your time. No need to rush.
Thank you for taking prompts for Chimera. That means a lot to me.
Oh, you're welcome. Thank you for coming to me about this. I'm glad you entrusted this prompt to me
Lee Joongyeop hadn’t set foot in Korea in years.  After leaving after the Chimera case, he had decided to go back to England and work there as a doctor at the St. Thomas’ Hospital for a few years before he realized that…he wasn’t happy and that he missed Korea.  Well, no.  He didn’t miss Korea, but he missed a certain loudmouthed Korean, so he decided to head back to Korea for good.  And he hoped…he hoped the person he missed would be happy to see him. ~*~*~*~*~*~ When Joongyeop arrived in Korea, the first thing he did was take a taxi to his hotel and check in and after he checked in, instead of all but passing out on the bed, he decided to take another taxi to the Joongsan Police Department.  When he reached the police station, he quickly paid the driver before he headed inside, making a beeline for the investigation department, stepping into the room.         “Oh!  Dr. Lee” Captain Koo Kwangsoo greeted, quickly standing to his feet before walking over to Joongyeop, smiling slightly at him.         “What brings you here?” he asked.  Joongyeop smiled slightly in return before he looked around the office, frowning.         “Is Cha Jaehwan here?” he replied.  Kwangsoo shook his head.         “He’s out on a lead right now.  But he should be back shortly.  Um…you can wait in the conference room for him if you’d like” he offered, motioning to their conference room.  Joongyeop looked towards the conference room before he smiled and nodded, making his way towards the room before pushing open the door, walking over to one of the chairs before sitting down.  As soon as he sat down, one of Cha Jaehwan’s coworkers, Jang Hana walked over to him and placed a cup of coffee down in front of him.         “Here you go” she murmured, making him look up at her in surprise.         “Oh…thank you” he thanked.  Hana nodded before she turned out of the room to head back to work while Joongyeop looked at the cup of coffee before him, smiling slightly before he reached out and picked it up, taking a sip.         ‘How does Jaehwan drink this swill?’ he wondered to himself, just as the door to the conference room opened, making him look up to see Cha Jaehwan staring at him with wide eyes.  Joongyeop’s eyes widened as well before he stood to his feet as well, both men staring at each other before Jaehwan took a step forward and reached out, pulling Joongyeop in for a tight hug.           “Detective Cha—” he started when Jaehwan hugged him tighter.         “Why didn’t you tell me you were coming?” he grumbled.  Joongyeop chuckled and wrapped his arms around him, resting his chin on his shoulder as he let out a hum of content.         “I wanted to surprise you” he replied.  Jaehwan chuffed before he pulled away, looking at him.         “Well, you certainly did” he declared.  Joongyeop chuckled softly as Jaehwan crossed his arms.         “Do you remember what you said to me before you left?” he asked.  Joongyeop raised an eyebrow.         “What did I say?” he replied.  Jaehwan huffed.         “That we never got to have a drink together, even though we kept talking about it” he explained.  Joongyeop blinked before he let out a soft laugh.         “Oh yes, I do remember saying that” he stated as he tilted his head at him.         “Why are you bringing that up?” he inquired.  Jaehwan huffed and motioned to him.         “Well, you’re here now.  Do you wanna grab that drink or not?” he asked.  Joongyeop’s eyes widened before he grinned.         “Sure.  But only if you’re buying” he stated.  Jaehwan’s eyes widened.         “Yah!  It was your suggestion; you should be the one buying!” he exclaimed.  Joongyeop huffed.         “But I just returned; you should be treating me” he countered.         “Yah, Lee Joongyeop!” Jaehwan exclaimed, making Joongyeop chuckle and the other detectives of Jaehwan’s team smile slightly.         “Ah…the married couple’s reunited” Hanchul murmured, causing Kunyoung, Kwangsoo, and Hana to chuckle, just as Jaehwan and Joongyeop stepped out of the conference room.         “Alright, I’m taking off.  I’ll come in early tomorrow to finish up my reports” Jaehwan declared, Kwangsoo waving his hand.         “Don’t worry about that.  Just go have fun” he instructed.  Jaehwan smiled before he looked over his shoulder at Joongyeop, motioning with his head for him to follow him as he headed out of the office.  Joongyeop huffed and shook his head before he followed after him, Jaehwan’s teammates smiling as they watched the two men exit the bull pen. ~*~*~*~*~*~ After leaving the police station, Jaehwan and Joongyeop walked over to Jaehwan’s car, both men getting inside before Jaehwan turned on the engine and reversed out of the stall, driving out of the parking lot.         “So, how have things been?  Good?” Jaehwan asked, glancing over at Joongyeop.  Joongyeop hummed and shrugged.         “They’re okay.  I decided that England wasn’t for me, which is why I came back” he answered.  Jaehwan hummed before he looked over at him again.         “You never called you know.  I was starting to get worried about you” he stated.  Joongyeop’s eyes widened and he looked back at him before he sighed.         “I just figured that after…everything you’d want a break from me.  That’s why I didn’t call” he murmured.  Jaehwan tsked.         “Stupid…we’re friends, aren’t we?  You should have called.  It…it would have been nice to hear your voice” he murmured.  Joongyeop stared at him shock before he smiled softly.         “Well…I’m here now” he stated.  Jaehwan chuckled and nodded, a small smile on his lips.         “Yes…yes you are” he agreed.  Joongyeop smiled a little wider before he tilted his head and looked at him.         “Your mother…how is she?  Has the dementia gotten worse?” he asked.  Jaehwan fell silent and clutched at the wheel before he sighed heavily.         “I uh…I had to commit her to a care home.  I couldn’t…I couldn’t take care of her” he whispered.  Joongyeop looked at him in surprise before he hummed.         “I’m sorry.  I know it must have been hard for you” he murmured.  Jaehwan scoffed.         “Not as hard as learning that my own father is fucking Seo Hyun Tae and my mother thinks that I’m him” he grumbled.  Joongyeop’s eyes widened and he nearly broke his neck as he whipped his head to look at him.         “Seo…Seo Hyun Tae?!  Your father?!” he exclaimed.  Jaehwan glanced over at him.         “You didn’t know?” he asked before he paused.         “Right…you left before I could tell you” he murmured.  Joongyeop shook his head.         “Detective—Jaehwan" he started, making Jaehwan glance over at him in shock.         “I’m sorry.  That’s…that’s gotta be such gut-wrenching news” he murmured.  Jaehwan huffed.         “Yeah well…I’ve just come to accept it at this point” he murmured.  Joongyeop sighed.         “I’m sorry” he whispered.  Jaehwan waved his hand.         “It’s fine.  Really, it’s fine” he assured.  Joongyeop made a face, like he knew it wasn’t fine, but he didn’t press as Jaehwan looked over at him.         “Where are you staying?” he asked.  Joongyeop blinked before he cleared his throat.         “Oh, uh, a hotel” he answered.  Jaehwan frowned.         “Why don’t you stay with me?  Since my mother’s not staying with me anymore” he offered.  Joongyeop’s eyes widened.         “Are you sure?  I don’t want to intrude—” he started when Jaehwan laughed.         “You’re not intruding if I’m offering” he stated.  Joongyeop sighed.         “Then alright.  If you’re offering” he murmured.  Jaehwan grinned.         “Which means you’re buying tonight” he declared.  Joongyeop huffed.         “I suppose that’s a fair trade” he agreed, making Jaehwan grin as he continued to drive towards the bar.
~*~*~*~*~*~ When they reached the bar, Joongyeop and Jaehwan walked over to the bar, both of them ordering beer before they sat on the barstools, Jaehwan letting out a soft sigh.         “This is nice” he murmured as the bartender placed their beers before them.  Joongyeop hummed in agreement as he picked up his beer and held it out to Jaehwan, Jaehwan laughing before he clinked his beer against his, both men taking a sip before Jaehwan placed his beer door and looked over at Joongyeop.         “So what did you do in England?  Go back to being a surgeon?” he asked.  Joongyeop nodded.         “It’s really all I know how to do so I thought I’d go back to it” he answered.  Jaehwan hummed.         “And now?  What are you going to do?  Considering that the hospital that you used to work for belonged to the Ryoon Group” he stated.  Joongyeop shrugged.         “I…I don’t know” he admitted.  Jaehwan chuffed.         “So what…you just decided to come back to Korea with no plan of action?” he asked.  Joongyeop huffed as he took another swig of his beer.         “Yeah” he answered.  Jaehwan stared at him in shock before he laughed.         “How unlike you, Dr. Lee” he murmured.         “Joongyeop” Joongyeop muttered, making Jaehwan look over at him with a raised eyebrow.         “What was that?” he inquired.         “Joongyeop.  Call me Joongyeop.  I think…I think we’re past formalities at this point, considering you called us friends” Joongyeop stated, looking back at him.  Jaehwan blinked before he held out his beer, Joongyeop smiling as he clinked his beer against his, both men taking another sip.         “Have you heard from Eugene?” Joongyeop asked, raising an eyebrow.  Jaehwan shook his head.         “I received her book but…I haven’t been able to contact her.  She must be busy” he replied.  Joongyeop hummed.         “I haven’t heard from her either” he stated as he took another sip of his beer.  Jaehwan hummed.         “Her book’s pretty good.  Have you read it?” he asked.  Joongyeop huffed.         “I haven’t had the time.  Busy with surgeries and patients and all” he explained.  Jaehwan hummed as he took another sip of his beer, Joongyeop frowning.         “You know we have to drive home, right?  Should you be drinking?” he asked.  Jaehwan chuckled.         “I can call a cab and just pick up my car in the morning” he replied.  Joongyeop hummed as he took a sip of his beer, letting out a soft sigh.         “You’re right…this is nice” he agreed.  Jaehwan smiled and glanced over at him.         “I honestly thought you’d be drinking some high-end whiskey” he stated.  Joongyeop chuckled.         “I can enjoy a good beer too every now and then” he replied.  Jaehwan made a face.         “I wouldn’t call this beer good” he murmured, causing Joongyeop to chuckle.         “Well, it’s not bad either” he replied.  Jaehwan chuckled as well before they both knocked back their beer, enjoying each other’s company. ~*~*~*~*~*~ After enjoying a couple of beers, Jaehwan and Joongyeop headed out of the bar, both men just enjoying the night air.         “How are your cases going?  You haven’t pissed anyone off recently, have you?” Joongyeop asked, glancing over at Jaehwan, who laughed.         “I’m not the one who had all those enemies.  That was you” he reminded.  Joongyeop huffed.         “Yeah, well, you’re a cop.  I’m sure you’ve pissed off a few people over the course of your career” he mused, just as he noticed a hooded figure walking towards them, their hands in their pocket.  As Joongyeop stared at him, he noticed that one of his hands were moving out of his pocket and that he was holding a gun.  Joongyeop’s eyes widened and he quickly grabbed Jaehwan’s arm, dragging him away from the hooded man, both men quickly walking in the opposite direction.         “Joongyeop…Joongyeop, where are we going?” Jaehwan demanded.  Joongyeop shook his head as he continued to drag Jaehwan along.         “Shut up and keep walking” he ordered, glancing over his shoulder to see the hooded man still following them, the gun now raised and pointed at them.  Joongyeop’s eyes widened, just as the man pulled the trigger, hitting Jaehwan in the lower back, causing him to cry out in pain as he stumbled forward.         “Jaehwan!” Joongyeop shouted, his arms quickly going around the man as they both sunk to the ground; Joongyeop looking towards where the shooter was, only to find that the man had disappeared.  Joongyeop’s eyes widened before he looked down at Jaehwan, who was fading in and out, and quickly pulled out his phone, dialing 911.         “Help!  My friend’s just been shot.  Please, send an ambulance” he begged, placing his phone down so that the dispatcher could pin-point their location before he wrapped his arms around Jaehwan and held him close, pressing his hand into the bullet wound to try and staunch the bleeding.         “Cha Jaehwan.  Cha Jaehwan, you hang on.  You hang on, Jaehwan, the ambulance is coming.  The ambulance is coming, Jaehwan, please” he begged as he buried his face in Jaehwan’s hair.         “Please” he whispered.  Thankfully, the ambulance soon arrived and rushed over to them, practically having to pry Jaehwan out of Joongyeop’s arms because he just would not let go.  Once they had gotten Jaehwan out of his arms, they rushed him to the ambulance, Joongyeop quickly grabbing his phone before he pushed himself to his feet and ran over to the ambulance, getting inside.  He then sat down on the bench next to Jaehwan and took his hand while the paramedics worked to staunch the bleeding, gently rubbing his thumb over the back of Jaehwan’s hand, tears in his eyes.         ‘Hang on, Jaehwan.  Just…hang on’ he pleaded. ~*~*~*~*~*~ When Jaehwan woke up hours later, he found himself laying in a hospital bed, his body aching and his head spinning.  He then looked around to see Joongyeop sitting at his bedside, his head bowed and his hands clasped together as if he was praying.         “What an odd sense of déjà vu” he murmured, making Joongyeop lift his head and look at him with wide eyes.         “Jaehwan” he whispered before he reached out and took his hand, grasping it tightly in his.         “How am I doing, doc?” Jaehwan croaked, making Joongyeop huff before he sighed.         “You’re alive, so that’s good.  And the shooter thankfully missed your vital organs, which is also good” he murmured.  Jaehwan smiled before he noticed that Joongyeop’s clothes were stained with blood, his blood, just like how he was stained with Joongyeop’s blood when he was shot all those years ago.         “You didn’t go home?” he asked.  Joongyeop glared at him.         “How could I?  You got shot, Jaehwan” he growled.  Jaehwan smiled and gave his hand a squeeze before he chuckled.         “You should go home and change.  I’m not going anywhere soon” he murmured.  Joongyeop shook his head.         “I’m not going anywhere” he grumbled.  Jaehwan gave him a look.         “You’re covered in blood.  You probably feel gross.  Go home” he ordered.  Joongyeop shook his head.         “No” he declared.  Jaehwan glared at him.         “You’re so stubborn” he grumbled.  Joongyeop smirked.         “Sue me” he replied.  Jaehwan let out a groan and rolled his eyes as Joongyeop looked at him, sighing softly.         “Get some rest.  I’ll have a nurse come by and give you more morphine” he murmured as he stood to his feet, heading to the door when Jaehwan squeezed his hand, making him stop and turn to look at him.         “Can you stay?  Just until I fall asleep?” he asked.  Joongyeop smiled and walked back over to his chair, sitting down.         “Sure” he agreed.  Jaehwan smiled and let out a soft sigh as he sunk into his bed, his hand still held tightly in Joongyeop’s, his breathing soon evening out.  Joongyeop watched him sleep and waited for him to be truly asleep before he carefully pulled his hand out of Jaehwan’s and stood up, heading over to the door, quietly slipping out.  He then looked over at Kwangsoo, who also had stayed at the hospital like him, and crossed his arms.         “Did you ever find the shooter?” he asked.  Kwangsoo sighed and shook his head.         “My men are still looking into it, but we’ll find him” he promised.  Joongyeop nodded.         “Okay.  Keep me updated” he instructed.  Kwangsoo nodded.         “Of course” he replied before he clapped Joongyeop on the arm.         “Thank you” he thanked, making Joongyeop look at him with wide eyes.         “For what?” he asked.  Kwangsoo smiled.         “For saving Jaehwan’s life” he explained.  Joongyeop huffed.         “He saved my life…the least I could do was return the favor” he murmured.  Kwangsoo chuckled and nodded before he tilted his head at him.         “You want a ride back to your hotel?  You’re kind of…covered in blood” he stated.  Joongyeop looked down at himself before he hummed.         “You know…I would appreciate that” he murmured.  Kwangsoo smiled and motioned for him to follow him, both men walking away from Jaehwan’s room, Joongyeop throwing one last look over his shoulder before he continued after Kwangsoo. ~*~*~*~*~*~ Over the next few weeks, Joongyeop stayed by Jaehwan’s bedside, making sure that he was comfortable and that he was healing well, even though he wasn’t his primary doctor.  Thankfully, the doctors at the hospital knew about him and about his abilities so they didn’t protest too much whenever he ordered them to get him something that would make Jaehwan as comfortable as possible or ease his pain.  And once Jaehwan was okay enough to be discharged, Joongyeop took him home, much to Jaehwan’s protest.         “I can go back to work, you know.  I mean, it’ll be desk duty, but I can work” he grumbled.         “Like hell I’m letting you go back now.  Knowing your stubborn ass, you’ll end up assisting with a case and somehow get hurt…you got shot, Jaehwan.  If something else happened to you…I don’t think I could forgive myself” Joongyeop murmured.  Jaehwan looked over at him in surprise before he smiled slightly, not saying anything until they reached Jaehwan’s house, both men getting out.  They then headed over to the front door, Jaehwan unlocking the door before he stepped inside, Joongyeop following after him, closing the door behind him.         “Go lie down.  I’ll make you some soup” Joongyeop declared as he headed to the kitchen, Jaehwan looking at him in shock.         “You know how to cook?” he asked.  Joongyeop huffed.         “Of course I do.  Now go lie down” he ordered.  Jaehwan chuffed.         “Yes dear” he murmured as he headed to his bedroom, Joongyeop looking at him with wide eyes before he clucked his tongue and headed to the kitchen to make Jaehwan something. ~*~*~*~*~*~ An hour or so later, as Jaehwan was sitting on his bed (which he replaced for a larger one) reading a book when Joongyeop opened the door, poking his head in.         “Soup’s ready.  Come eat” he ordered before he slipped away, making Jaehwan look up before he closed his book and slipped off the bed, heading out of the room and over to the dining table, where Joongyeop was sitting, sitting down across from him.         “So, what did you make?” he asked.  Joongyeop smiled and removed the lid of the earthen pot, revealing a pot of samgyetang, making Jaehwan’s eyes widened.         “I had a whole chicken in my fridge?!” he exclaimed.  Joongyeop huffed.         “No, I went out and bought it.  You didn’t have a lot in your fridge, so we’ll have to go buy groceries later, but I just bought enough to make this” he stated as he carefully tore off a piece of chicken and placed it in a bowl before ladling some soup over it, handing it to Jaehwan.         “Eat” he ordered.  Jaehwan huffed before he picked up his spoon and took a sip of the soup, his eyes widening in surprise before he looked at Joongyeop.         “I could seriously kiss you right now” he declared.  Joongyeop raised an eyebrow.         “You’d kiss me over soup?” he asked.  Jaehwan shrugged.         “Maybe” he replied.  Joongyeop huffed and shook his head as Jaehwan grabbed his bowl and filled it with chicken and soup, handing it to him.         “You eat too” he ordered.  Joongyeop blinked before he dipped his head and took his bowl, both men enjoying the soup that Joongyeop made.         “Who taught you how to cook?  Or did you learn whenever you went into the military?” Jaehwan asked, looking up from his soup at Joongyeop, who paused.         “Um…my mother taught me.  I used to cook a little whenever she was too tired to do so.  My skills got better as I got older” he explained as he looked at Jaehwan and tilted his head.         “Do you know how to cook?” he asked.  Jaehwan chuckled.         “Of course I do.  My mom owns a snack shop, remember?” he reminded.  Joongyeop hummed, nodding.         “Yes, I remember that.  Your mother is a great cook” he mused.  Jaehwan chuckled.         “Yes, I remember how you all but wolfed down her cooking when you were here the last time” he teased.  Joongyeop narrowed his eyes at him.         “Hush and eat your soup” he ordered.  Jaehwan chuckled.         “Yes dear” he replied, making Joongyeop point his spoon at him.         “Call me “dear” again and I’m gouging your eyes out with this spoon” he warned.  Jaehwan smiled slightly.         “Yes—” he started when Joongyeop jabbed his spoon at him.         “Don’t you dare” he growled.  Jaehwan laughed and nodded as he went back to eating his soup, Joongyeop throwing him a look before he also went back to eating.         “This is domestic” Jaehwan mused, making Joongyeop look up at him before he hummed.         “It is” he agreed.  Both men fell silent again, and once they finished eating, they began to clean up.  As Joongyeop washed and Jaehwan dried, Jaehwan looked over at the doctor and smiled before he reached out and wrapped an arm around his waist, pulling him close, causing him to look at him with wide eyes.         “What are you doing?!” he exclaimed.  Jaehwan smirked.         “Something I should have done sooner” he replied before he leaned forward and pressed a kiss to Joongyeop’s lips.  Joongyeop’s eyes widened in shock but to Jaehwan’s surprise, he didn’t pull away like he thought he would, and instead let out a soft pant when Jaehwan pulled away.         “Honestly thought you’d pull away…or punch me” Jaehwan murmured.  Joongyeop scoffed.         “There was so much tension between us…I was waiting for one of us to make the first move.  You just beat me to it” he replied.  Jaehwan chuckled and pressed a kiss to his temple before he pulled away.         “I’m going to take a shower” he stated as he turned and headed to the bathroom to shower.         “Just be careful of your wound!  It’s still tender” Joongyeop called out.         “Yes dear” Jaehwan called back, making Joongyeop raise a ladle at him.         “Cha Jaehwan!” he shouted, Jaehwan cackling in reply.  Joongyeop huffed and shook his head as he turned back to the dishes, a small, fond smile on his face.  That Cha Jaehwan. ~*~*~*~*~*~ After Joongyeop had finished washing the dishes, he went to take a shower and when he had finished, he stepped out into the bedroom, Jaehwan smiling at him from where he was reading in bed.         “Come on, we can share” he stated, patting the space beside him.  Joongyeop raised an eyebrow.         “I can just sleep on the floor like last time, you know” he replied.  Jaehwan huffed.         “I didn’t get a bigger bed so that you could sleep on the floor” he grumbled.  Joongyeop’s eyes widened.         “You…you got a bigger bed so that we could…share?” he asked.  Jaehwan sighed.         “I wanted to the last time you were here, but my bed was far too small…so I got a bigger one…in the hopes that if you ever came back…” he murmured.  Joongyeop stared at him in shock before he huffed and walked over to the bed, smacking him on the arm.         “Scoot over” he mumbled.  Jaehwan hummed and scooted over as Joongyeop laid down, letting out a soft sigh as he snuggled under the blankets, Jaehwan quickly putting his book down before turning off the lights, also snuggling under the blankets.  As they both laid under the blankets, Jaehwan looked at the back of Joongyeop’s head, sighing softly.         “Joongyeop.  Are you asleep?” he whispered.           “No.  Why, what’s wrong?  Do you need medicine?  Is your wound hurting?” Joongyeop asked, turning over to look at him, concern in his eyes.  Jaehwan smiled and shook his head as he reached out and pulled Joongyeop in, tucking him under his chin.         “No, I’m fine.  It’s just…ever since I committed my mother to a care home, the house has been so empty.  With you here…it doesn’t feel so empty anymore” he murmured.  Joongyeop hummed as he carefully wrapped an arm around Jaehwan’s waist and pulled him close, sighing softly.         “I missed you” he murmured.  Jaehwan smiled and hugged him tightly.         “Not as much as I missed you.  You’re not going to leave again, right?” he asked.  Joongyeop chuckled softly.         “There’s nothing for me back there.  Everything I need is right here…right in front of me” he murmured.  Jaehwan grinned.         “That’s what I like to hear” he declared as he let out a sigh of content, Joongyeop sighing as well.         “Go to sleep, Jaehwan” he murmured.  Jaehwan smiled.         “Yes dear” he replied.  Joongyeop let out a soft groan, causing Jaehwan to grin.         “You love me” he teased.  Joongyeop huffed.         “Sometimes I ask myself why” he grumbled before he gently pinched Jaehwan’s side.         “Now go to sleep.  Doctor’s orders” he murmured.  Jaehwan chuckled and hummed as he pulled Joongyeop tighter against him, resting his chin on top of his head.         “Goodnight, Joongyeop” he whispered.  Joongyeop smiled slightly.         “Goodnight, Jaehwan” he replied.

just thinking about how WILDLY the lead trio’s individual fates differ from one another, like you start the show off with two DEEPLY traumatized and mentally ill individuals (eugene and joong yeop) and one well-adjusted Dude (jae hwan), and you would THINK the narrative would use jae hwan to help bring eugene and joong yeop out of their shells so that they can heal, but INSTEAD you had jae hwan finding ways to retraumatize joong yeop while eugene just barely managed to survive a hostage situation with copycat chimera, and THEN they went after jae hwan with the whole “yo momma’s a serial killer” and had him watch his mentor die, WHILST having joong yeop have like fifteen breakdowns over the course of like eight episodes, finally ending with eugene somewhat surviving the ordeal with her head kinda on straight, meanwhile joong yeop’s getting ready for his next mental breakdown/suicide attempt bc the korean police institution failed him AGAIN by driving his sister to suicide, while jae hwan’s having to deal with his dementia-ridden serial killer mother all alone while she fawns over him thinking he’s her dead boyfriend who is also his biological father and also the guy who murdered his older sister before he was born, like licherally the only person who got any kind of narrative closure was eugene, while joong yeop just BARELY made it outta korea without blowing his brains out, while jae hwan’s just like, floating listlessly. chimera was a straight up TRAGEDY. nobody won bro, not a single main character 😭

Lee Yoong Yeop and Cha Jae Hwan meeting in different circumstances. For the headcannon list if you do them for Chimera, pretty please
Yoooooo...aw, shit, I'm down
When Cha Jae Hwan and Lee Joong Yeop first meet, they meet at the hospital, where Jae Hwan's mother has been taken due to fainting at work
Jae Hwan, of course, is nervous as shit because his mother has always assured him that she's fine and that's nothing's wrong and then all of a sudden she's fainting at work? That doesn't sound fine to him
Joong Yeop, however, is a very good doctor and a very patient one, explaining to Jae Hwan that his mother is probably overworking herself and just needs some time to rest
Jae Hwan looks at him before he thanks him profusely and heads home with his mother, assuring Joong Yeop that he'll make sure that his mother won't be seeing him again
Joong Yeop just laughs to himself and nods, bidding goodbye to mother and son before he goes to head back to work to see other patients
After almost a week of not seeing Jae Hwan, the man shows up outside his office door with a box of chocolates and a nervous smile on his face, making Joong Yeop look at him with a raised eyebrow
Jae Hwan laughs before he hands him the box of chocolates and explains that they're from his mom and she told him to bring them to Joong Yeop as a thank you for treating her
Joong Yeop is a little stunned because he's never gotten such a nice gift from a patient before before he looks at Jae Hwan and smiles
"Do you want to get a cup of coffee?"
Jae Hwan blinks before he rubs the back of his neck awkwardly
"Uh, I'm actually late to work but maybe some other time?"
Joong Yeop nods and Jae Hwan smiles before he turns and walks away, Joong Yeop watching him leave before he turns and heads back into his office, only to pause
Jae Hwan said he was late for work...does that mean that he stopped by the hospital to drop off the chocolates first...Joong Yeop smiled to himself before he walked over to his desk and placed the box of chocolates down
That evening, when Joong Yeop is going home after a long day of work, he's surprised to see Jae Hwan standing outside the door
"Oh. Jae Hwan-ssi"
Jae Hwan looks over at him and smiles before he walks over to him
"Dr. Lee...um...are you...are you busy this evening?"
Joong Yeop looks at him in surprise before he shakes his head
"No, why?"
Jae Hwan looks at him before he smiles
"Instead of coffee, how about I take you out to dinner?"
Joong Yeop blinks before he chuffs
"A bit forward but I accept"
Jae Hwan's eyes widens and he starts stammering that that wasn't what he meant and Joong Yeop laughs because Jae Hwan is kind of cute when he's embarrassed. Jae Hwan then smiles before he clears his throat and looks at him
"Shall we go?"
Joong Yeop hums before he nods
"Lead the way"
