In Elias Hodge's mind, his attention (Anastasia Tension) is wasted on menial mundane tasks he doesn't care about, their potential wasted, while his impulses (Imelda Pulse) guides his hand for better or worse.

His curiosity (Hunch Curio) is stuck on the small things in life, craving money and questions. His conscience (Conrad Shintz) is considered childish, every other part of him trying to squash it down, framed as an inconvenience.

His hyperfixations (The Fix) keep straying to everything he abandoned in his childhood (the Orphanage), which he hates and refuses to treat those memories with any sort of kindness- bar one part of his mind which longs for kidness on the child he used to be.

His lust (Daniel Fucks) and pleasures are supressed, believing himself unworthy, and every time he is close to gratification he self destructs, punishing himself for not being enough.

Now there are little thoughts, tiny intrusions, that used to be quiet growing louder. He doesn't want to do bad, not really, but what does it matter anymore? If he can't let himself be happy, why not be malicious? He's not listening to his conscious anymore, his impulses and... something else has a control over him. His 'mental switchboard' is broken, so to speak, and certain parts of his brain are no longer able to communicate.

There is no predicting what that man, that horrifically smart man, might do.

I feel crazy about Elias's scar, I feel crazy I feel insane, he bears the mark of his own kindness, a young and hungry, brilliant scientist who forces himself to live in a world of logic, wincing at his own reflection in the mirror because he has to face the evidence of his own emotion and righteousness adorned in blood.

The way he has to pull his hat down to hide it, which means he always has to keep his eyes to the ground, his scar literally barring him from human connection.

How he's thought of that girl who looked at him and actually smiled for Years because it means she saw his face and wasn't afraid.

I’m all caught up on Dimension 20: Mentopolis, and I fucking love how Brennan decided to interpret how shock and adrenaline can prevent someone from feeling the pain of an injury into a noir setting. Like, instead of it being just that Elias can’t feel the blunt force done to the back of his head, it’s that the shock police went in and brutally murdered the pain receptors carrying the message in order to cover it up and prevent the rest of the city from finding out.

Conrad Schintz.

Alex Song-Xia is such an incredible role player, they play the conscience of a depressed man caught up in the follies of corporate destruction without meaning to be complicit, and the way that manifests is a sad, scared, child.

Heartbreaking.

Playing the conscience of an adult as the scared, sad kid who gets ignored. We ignore the whims and pleas of our inner child all the time. That’s why we feel such pain and we hurt others, it’s why we can’t change, or won’t change, or won’t try to be in a better place.

The little child as your conscience is governed by Loathing, and is carrying so much weight by themselves.

Every time we do something self-destructive, we forget about the kid at the centre of all of this..

We each have a Conrad of our own.

As the Fix, and I believe as Hank himself believes

It’s time to unlearn those lessons.

Against all odds, this man has game

I suspect that Elias isn't actually falling out of the building. Hear me out.

If he's been thrown out a window from higher than like the fourth floor, the ONLY "good ending" possible is for the player characters to get him to a good place mentally before he dies, taking all the PCs with him. He only survives this if there's already something there to catch him OR if the thing in his pocket is like, a grappling hook.

So that's a bummer and it makes the campaign feel futile. I don't think it's happening.

I think Elias has been psychometered. Someone is making him BELIEVE he's been thrown out a window and is falling to his death. The broken control panel is the manifestation of the psychometer breaking into his brain. I'm not sure why they would do this but I have a couple ideas including torture, or D.A. Bition forcing Elias to volunteer as a guinea pig.

I do not believe that this season is gonna end with a depressed workaholic hitting the pavement. I think the PCs are gonna get control of the brain back where it belongs and Elias is gonna wake up in a test chamber somewhere, with a chance to live the life he really wants.

I was SO right to be attracted to Elias Hodge

Elias Hodge hadn't raised his tone nor hand in anger for many years. He'd paid for it when he was a child and the wrong lesson had been learnt.

Still, as he stood on shaky legs, splinters of glass latched onto his skin like leeches, and a dull pain throbbing from his head, he couldn't squash down the feeling any longer.

They'd tried to kill him. They'd taken his work and butchered it, turning his machine into a weapon. He'd tried to use his words and take the peaceful path, but Mr Henry didn't care enough to listen.

He was the calmest he's ever been, chest slowly rising and falling with steady breaths, and yet fury surged through his blood. Elias shifted his grip on the grappling hook in hand, the cool metal soothing against his palm.

Gobstopper Industries was going to burn down, past their foundations, and they'd practically handed Elias the match.
