Callin’ Somebody Mama
Tumblr media
Tags [ @kmc1989 @tallrock35 @pear-1206
The cold Montana wind blew my hair all around except in my face while I rode beside my boyfriend Lee on horseback. Eyeing the herd of cattle running across the field yet I noticed a mama caff slowly walking behind the rest of the group. Tugging the reins of my horse I pointed towards the mama caff knowing something wasn’t right with her. “Lee, do you see that? I think she’s hurt. Let’s go.” Kicking my horse in its side my horse Chloe ran towards the injured cattle where I dismounted my horse a few steps away from the animal.
Lee followed after me, dismounting his horse carrying a rope in his hands just in case the mama cattle decided to run off when we tried to help her. “Looks like a breach. Can we get her up?”
“No. We’ll pull it while she’s down.” I dropped down onto my knees wrapping my arms around the mama’s stomach holding her down onto the ground with all the strength I could so she didn’t kick me or run off.
Lee bent down behind the mama’s back legs looking between them to see the baby trying to get out. “You got her, Y/n?”
“Yeah. You got the legs.” I nodded, feeling the mama beginning to squirm.
Lee grunted pulling the baby calf out by its legs pushing the mama and baby apart for a minute after I had fallen down onto my back to avoid getting kicked by the calf’s mama who had jumped up. “Woo - that could’ve gone a lot worse. Here, are you alright there?”
“Sure. I just decided to take a nap on the ground like this after delivering a calf.” Crossing my arms over the back of my head I stuck my tongue out at him teasingly.
He extended his hand down to me, pulling me upright to stand with him. “Forget that I asked.” He found a large rock off to the side of the area where we had just delivered the calf as me and Lee took a seat down to rest for a moment.
Lee and I had been together since middle school. He had nervously asked me out to our junior prom. My mother had gotten pregnant with me at the age of 13 so when he asked me out she was slightly worried I’d get pregnant just like she had. Thankfully Lee was raised right and we had taken things simple and slow by just spending time together working his family’s ranch.
I didn’t think I’d like being a rancher growing up. According to Lee you’d never get a day off from the work of raising the food that you would later eat. But somehow I began to fall in love with it and I knew it had to do with how much joy it brought the oldest Dutton son. He puts his heart and soul into this life and the land and that’s beautiful to watch.
Shifting my gaze across the field I ran a hand through my messy braid watching the mama and her baby calf begin walking around together. “Lee, don’t punch me for asking this but what do you see when you look at that calf?”
“I see a life I gotta feed and defend until it grows up and feeds me.”
I pretended to play dumb tilting my head to the side with curiosity. “So that calf is your baby now. Congratulations, you're a mother.”
“Please don’t start calling me mama, Y/n.” He shook his head in embarrassment.
I couldn’t resist and he knew he had just set himself up to be teased. “Mama Lee, it has a nice ring to it.”
“Seriously, don't start telling my siblings to call me that would you.” He begged me, looking in my direction fiddling with the tan cowboy hat sitting on his head.
Scooting over to him I whispered in his ear with a grin on my face. “Mama Lee.”
“Y/n, please stop.”
“Mana Lee, what are you going to name your baby huh?” I questioned him before he sharply turned his head around getting in my face when he blurted out his next response.
“I'd rather be calling you mama then my girlfriend anymore.”
Blinking my eyes a couple of times I became confused at what he had just said to me. “Wha-what. How could I become a mother if I'm not your girlfriend anymore?”
“By becoming my wife and having my children.” Lee responded by getting up from the ground and lowering himself down onto one knee right in front of my eyes. He dug inside his tan jacket pocket taking out a small black box, opening it to reveal a small ring.
Bringing my hands to my mouth I felt tears welling in my eyes at what was happening right before me. “Lee, you can't seriously be -”
“Proposing, oh yeah I am.” He takes one of my hands in his, holding onto the ring with the other. “Y/n, I never knew you'd be the woman that I fell in love with. I always thought we'd just stay friends until our junior prom rolled around and all I could think about was asking you to be my date. Now you're sitting here as my girlfriend and even that doesn't seem to be enough. I want - I want to call you mine forever. I want to call you my wife. I want to have kids with you - honestly there's no one else I want to spend the rest of my life with on this ranch. So will you marry me?”
Throwing my arms around his neck I tackled him down onto the ground where he clutched the ring in his hand so he didn’t lose it. “I love you, Lee Dutton.”
“I love you too - but uh - does that mean you're saying yes.” He chuckled sitting upright keeping me sitting in his lap, showing me the ring again.
Giggling in response I held out my left hand letting him slide the ring on my finger. “Yes, yes, yes I'll marry you.” The ring had a simple light blue jewel in the middle of it and was somewhat familiar to me for some reason when I sent my now fiancé a look of curiosity.
“It's my mothers ring. I asked my father if I could pass it down to you. I hope you like it.”
Leaning forward I slowly kissed the oldest Dutton with a grin on my lips. “I love it just as much as I love you.” He smiles, kissing me and I hold back a laugh at the tickling off the beard on his chin.
“What’s that look for, Mrs. Dutton?” Lee asked me pulling away from the gentle kiss, keeping his arms wrapped around my waist holding me close to his chest.
A smirk grew across my face when the words left my mouth. “What do you say to start working on me becoming a mama eh cowboy?”
“You’re a clever girl, Mrs. Dutton.” Lee scooped me up into his arms hearing me giggle with such joy, carrying me bridal style over to our horses and we rode back to the Foreman's cabin as fast as we ever had in our lives.

Begin Again - Lee Dutton
Tumblr media
Pairing: Lee Dutton x OC (Natalie WentWorth)
Summary: The life of renowned lawyer Natalie WentWorth was quiet in Boston, but everything changed when she received a call from a former Harvard colleague, Jamie Dutton. After reflecting a lot, Natalie agreed to solve some problems at the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch, but she did not imagine that her life would change completely when she arrived in Montana. One of the reasons for this change was Lee Dutton, the eldest son of John Dutton, cowboy and livestock agent, who would represent all the comfort she needed to have in the midst of the chaos of the Dutton family. Natalie could begin again at that ranch.
Warnings: Subtle sexual innuendos, brief language, alcohol consumption, angst, smut, fluffy.
Fix the law after you break it
A few more kilometers and she would finally arrive in Yellowstone. Her Volvo XC40 exceeded the thousands of miles at a speed fast enough to make a journey of thirty-six hours of travel in less than thirty hours. Yes, she liked speed. It was one of the few things she allowed herself to "lose control". Her life experience and her profession had taught her to take care of her own control. If anyone would lose their mind, it would be the other side and not her.
She looked at the folder on the bank next to her. There was her name engraved on it: Miss Natalie WentWorth. She smiled proudly. She had not chosen the law, the law had chosen her. And her last civil hearing had proved it.
Natalie's thoughts were interrupted when she observed a movement a few kilometers ahead. There were men mounted on horses, armed, wearing bulletproof vests, on one side of the fence, and other men without any armament, but with unfriendly expression were on the other side of the fence. Natalie reduced her speed and a lawyer's sense of curiosity did not allow her to move forward, stopping on the shoulder.
Looking more closely, she realized that the men on the other side of the fence were indeed armed, some police officers and other civilians. She also noticed that there was a huge herd of cows on the side of the fence and she soon considered a problem. Natalie got out of the car and put her high heels on the dirt floor, something she wasn't used to.
"You should move on, ma'am. The thing here will soon be very bad." One of the cowboys warned her by jogging next to her.
"What's going on?" She asked ignoring his request.
"What happens every day here in Yellowstone: big dog fight." The cowboy waved his hat and trotted towards the discussion that was forming.
Natalie noted that the fence was free of barbed wire, so it would not be very difficult for cattle to go from one place to another. However, she doubted that the cowboys of that ranch had left the fence like that, just as it would be almost impossible for the cattle to take a different direction from what they took every day, unless someone attracted them with food. She got closer to the scene and noticed the remains of hay on the other side. Wow, a crime scene right on her first day in Montana.
"Madam, I'll ask you to leave, please." A serious and deep voice echoed behind her and she turned around. One of the men in the bulletproof vest was in front of her and at that distance she could read Livestock Agent on his chest. He carried a powerful rifle between his hands.
"As far as I know, the road is public." She responded without being able to see him right, because the strong light of the sun prevented her.
"This one is not. It belongs to the Reservation."
"Well, then they should take me out of here and not you...agent." Natalie replied pointing to the police and heard a low laugh coming from him. "Besides, I'm much more helpful here."
"I doubt that."
"OK, agent. I can tell what I know to the police officers of the Reservation and so they can win this fight." Natalie crossed the fence and walked a few steps on the pasture, but his voice came up again.
"I could get you out of there with little effort, ma'am!"
"Try it! Let's see what happens to you after that."
Natalie turned her back on the agent and approached the Indians of the Reservation, but seconds later a heated argument began. One of the Indians insulted one of the cowboys and he crossed the fence to attack him, but the Indian quickly knocked him out on the ground. The scene was transformed without Natalie being able to keep up. The police officers lifted their weapons, as well as the cowboys on the other side, but soon the agent came up with the rifle and threatened the Indian with his barrel on his head.
"Whatever happens next happens to you first." The agent threatened in a loud and deep voice.
"Son of a bitch." The Indian released the cowboy under his hands and faced the agent with danger in his eyes.
Tensions were stifled with the arrival of a helicopter on land. Natalie managed to read Yellowstone Dutton Ranch in the helicopter body and smiled playfully. What an unusual way to meet the boss. He got off the vehicle dressed as the good landowner he was, with simple clothes and a hat. The livestock agent went to meet him and exchanged some words that Natalie could not hear due to the distance and noise of the helicopter propellers.
The two men approached the fence and John exchanged glances with Natalie, surprised by her presence there, but he had more urgent matters to deal with than to know why a white woman dressed in a white satin blouse, navy blue pencil skirt and high heels was on the other side of the fence. She soon found out that she was on the wrong side of that fight, so she walked slowly towards the track, and she had difficulty walking due to her high heels sinking into the grass.
"This is a tribal issue, John. Livestock commission's got no authority here." One of the police officers informed John with caution.
"Those look like livestock to me." He pointed to the cattle on the other side of the fence and kept walking.
"The Chief's at Commencement, but I'm calling the shots."
"I'm impressed you said that with a straight face, Ben." John mocked with a smile and continued walking on the tribal ground until he approached a gentleman sitting on the hood of the truck that was among the cattle.
"If you know anything, it's better to say it now. Things won't be more friendly between us and them for much longer." The agent approached Natalie again and she remained looking at John's back, wishing to hear what he said, but it was too far away.
"If I say what I know, I lose the letter in the sleeve I have, don't you think?"
"Look, ma'am, I don't know where you come from, but here in Montana we solve the problems in two ways: either we follow the law, or we break it." The agent responded politely after a brief pause, as if he were thinking about what he should say. She liked it, he didn't want to push her away, he thought she was important enough to try to insist on the subject.
"I come from Boston...and from what I see now, you will need a good lawyer."
"I don't think we'll win this fight through laws, ma'am."
"You really won't go, so you'll need a lawyer: to fix the law after you break it. I have my card in the car, if you want."
The agent smiled openly, showing his white and big teeth. Very perfect for a cowboy and livestock agent, she thought. Either he spent all the money on dental appointments or...
"Lee Dutton." He supported the rifle in one hand and offered her the other. "Can I know your name, Madam from Boston?"
"Natalie WentWorth." She accepted his greeting and had her small hand engulfed by his big hand, tanned and full of calluses in a strong but gentle grip. "Don't worry, I'm on this side of the fence."
He just kept smiling and Natalie could watch him at that moment, since he covered the sunlight from her face. Lee was tall, although any man taller than one meter and seventy was taller than her, he wore a cream hat that covered most of his hair, and he wore a grown beard, blonde, and looked well cared for. And there was that smile that besides being beautiful, was cheerful. How could he be happy in that situation? She didn't know, but she was curious.
"Lee!" John Dutton's voice sounded authoritarian when he crossed the fence. "Clear everyone out."
"You know, there was barbed wire on this fence a week ago." Lee explained to his father.
"I know. Clear them out."
"Alright! Move on!"
While Lee gathered his men, Natalie hurried the step to accompany John Dutton, but her high heels did not help, so she removed them.
"Mr. Dutton! Mr... Dutton!" She called feeling her feet pincing due to the tall grass. After a few seconds, he stopped and waited for her to approach.
"It wasn't a good choice to wear these shoes today, ma'am." John mocked with a smile as he observed the high heels in Natalie's hands.
"I'm a newcomer to Montana, sir. I can get used to it." She put on her shoes and extended a hand to him. "My name is Natalie WentWorth. Your son Jamie told me that you were in need of help."
"All the help I need is in my house, ma'am. I don't need another lawyer." John seriously informed without accepting her hand.
"But I came here from Boston. Jamie told me that..."
"I don't know what Jamie wanted with you, miss, but it certainly has nothing to do with me or my ranch." He stared at her in a mixture of pity and anger. "If you want, we can take you back in the helicopter."
"I've been driving, sir."
"I'm sorry for what Jamie made you go through. I hope you have a good trip back." John put his sunglasses on his face and walked away from her with slow steps towards the helicopter.
Natalie was planted in the same place for so long that the police officers of the reserve had left, as well as the tribals and most of the cowboys. She couldn't believe that. After all the effort to get there, after thinking long before getting close to cowboys again, she was rejected. Natalie didn't know who else she was angry with, if it was Jamie, Mr. Dutton or herself.
"Miss WentWorth, is everything okay?" Lee appeared next to her and she had to control herself so as not to shrook another Dutton next to her.
"It'll be." She started walking again and heard his steps following her. She rolled her eyes and growled softly. "Go back to your work, Mr. Dutton. You're going to need a lot of work."
"What do you mean? Hey, wait!"
Natalie was already used to walking with high heels on the grass and was already approaching her car on the side of the side. However, to her misfortune, one Dutton was determined to leave her away while the other did not leave her alone.
"What did you mean?" He put himself between her and the driver's door.
"I need to go now, Mr. Dutton. Can I get in my own car?" She asked impatiently, but Lee remained in the same place.
"Only answer the question." Lee asked kindly, but Natalie was too angry to notice.
"I am not obliged by law to answer anything. And if you don't get out of the front of my fucking car now, I'll sue you for so many things that you'll never have a penny in your cowboy pants again." She threatened him fervently and Lee took a few seconds thinking to then clear the way. "Thank you, Agent."
"Aren't you going to give me your card?" He asked at the window when she got in the car.
"It will no longer be necessary."
Natalie started the gear and started the car, causing the tire to leave stains on the asphalt.

Regardless They’ll Always Be Dutton’s
Tumblr media
I just had an idea about a story that I think would be great. It would be a Lee Dutton x reader with alittle kayce x reader - request from @cookiez56-blog
Shutting the front door I gazed out back into the front yard seeing my two children William and Lana who we’re playing tag in the grass off the front porch. My father in law John was sitting beside my husband Lee. Sitting across from them on a small wooden chair I noticed that John was looking at Lana for a long time. “Is something wrong, John?”
“I might be wrong. But I don’t miss anything on this ranch. So does someone want to tell me why Lana looks more like Kayce then she does you and Lee. Cause I want to know if I’m just not awake yet this morning or not.” John ran a hand over his chin in thought then he messed with his white cowboy hat on his head.
Lee and I shifted our gaze back to each other before he reached over grasping my hand in his seeing that I was starting to let some tears fall remembering that day. “He was an idiot to ever do that to you, Y/n.”
“Kayce, I have to tell you something and I’m not sure the best way to do this so….here it is I’m pregnant.” Running my hands through my hair we were about to graduate high school in a few weeks before I found out I had missed my period.
Kayce dropped his hands at his side’s changing his demeanor completely from what I thought he would. “We can’t do this anymore, Y/n.”
“What are you saying?” I dared to ask him horrified of his next response.
The youngest Dutton sent me a half sympathetic look. “Y/n, it won’t work between us anymore. I’m going into the navy and you won’t want to stay worried about me all the time. And you’re probably not going to keep the baby anyway, whoever it belong to.”
“It’s yours asshat!” I blurted out throwing my hands away from my sides feeling heartbroken at what he was saying. “I lost my virginity to you. You’re the only person I have ever slept with!”
He shook his head removing his hat running his fingers through his hair frustrated at me and himself maybe. “I…I don’t know what to say. I didn’t think that it was that easy for you to get…especially the first time. I can’t do this.” He slowly turned on his feet beginning to walk away from me and back up to the main front porch of his family’s home.
Running forward I grabbed Kayce’s wrist holding him to a stop and slapped him across the face where it hurt my hand afterwards. He held his burning cheek that was red. “You are an asshole Kayce John Dutton. I tell you that I’m pregnant and you say that you want nothing to do with me or this kid!”
“Would you believe me if I said I’m terrified as hell and you don’t have to keep the baby.” He grunted still holding his burning red cheek.
Shaking my head I spun on my feet walking away from him about to leave the ranch but I remembered that I left my jacket in the barn. Heading into the barn I grabbed it before I felt heavy tears falling down my face. Throwing my jacket I screamed just kicking the wooden wall with my boots so frustrated and heartbroken by what Kayce just said to me. Gripping my hair in my fingers I heard someone walking towards me. “I don’t want to talk to you ever again Kayce!”
“It’s not Kayce, it’s Lee.” Whipping my head around I slumped my shoulders recognizing his older brother coming towards me. He removed his tan brown hat noticing that I was sobbing through tears. “Hey what’s wrong honey?”
“I’m pregnant with your brothers child…it’s Kayce’s. But he..he just broke up with me and said he doesn’t want it. Lee I, I have no idea what to do next. I don’t think it’s right to abort the baby but otherwise I’m on my own now.” Wrapping my arms around myself I avoided his gaze sniffling through tears that hadn’t stopped coming.
Lee didn’t waste another second before he tugged me into his chest holding me tightly against him. He had one hand in my hair and the other down my back letting me cry into his shirt until I had got it all out and he had a plan inside his mind. He gently held my face in his hands wiping away the tears that had stayed on my cheek. “Y/n, this is what we’re going to do. Nobody knows that you’re pregnant. You and Kayce haven’t been showing off your relationship so we can pass the baby off as mine.”
“Oh Lee I can’t ask you to do that. I mean what if you find someone you actually care about and want to marry someone else someday.” I felt guilty that he might be giving something up to help me out.
The eldest Dutton pressed his forehead against mine not backing down from his plan. “You’re not asking I’m offering you this option. And maybe someday if we got closer we could marry and make this work better. Cause from where I’m standing you wouldn’t be the worst person to be married too.”
Lee and I hadn’t said a word since John was still staring at us waiting for an answer. We really didn’t know what to say to him, as far as he knew until now Lana was Lee’s daughter. Getting to my feet Lee followed my actions taking my hand with my wedding ring on it trying to tell me everything was going to be okay. “Dad, I just want you to know that it was my plan the whole time. Y/n came to me crying and in a panic. So I did whatever I thought would help her.”
“So what we’re saying is that you we’re right. Lana is actually Kayce’s daughter and William is Lee’s. Kayce said he wanted nothing to do with the baby and Lee offered me more than I could have imagined. I’m sorry we didn’t tell you. I…we just thought it was better that no one knew the truth.” Moving my freehand around in front of me I felt a nervous pit in my stomach waiting for his answer.
John tapped his fingers on the armrests of the chair. “If you’re thinking I’d be angry you don’t have anything to be worried about. Regardless of who the birth father is they are each still my grandkids. I love Lana and William both equally.”
“Oh thank you. John I can’t thank you enough.” Covering my mouth with my hands I smiled through happy tears before I moved forward hugging my father in law.
He hugs me back smiling towards his eldest son. “You’re welcome Y/n…you did a good job son.”
We turned our heads seeing the two you kids running up the stairs bouncing around in front of us. Lana had slight curly hair that was the color of Kayce’s hair but she had my eye color. William had my hair color but he was given Lee’s eyes. “Mommy. Daddy, can we get some ice cream?” William asked spinning around in his tiny cowboy boots.
“If grandpa John says it’s okay.” Lee responded wrapping an arm around my waist tugging me into his side smiling down at them.
John tilted his head towards the inside of the house. “Go on kiddos. Just don’t eat too much before dinner.”
“Thank you, grandpa.” Lana ran away from her brother throwing her arms around her grandfather’s neck making him smile toward me and Lee silently telling us that both the kids would be good cowboys and cowgirls when they grow up.
Comments really appreciated ❤️

Current State of Affairs|2| Lee Dutton
Yeah, I don't have an excuse other then real life has caught up to me and my life kind of fell apart for a few weeks. Things are on the up hill now.
Two: Truth Be Told
“Well Beth, I am saying never. He had his shot and he never took it.” Spencer returned as she picked up her robe and towel, “he respects Kayce too much.” Beth’s eyebrows knitted together in confusion as she dropped down on the chair that had been pulled out from the vanity. “What do you mean he had his shot?” There was silence as Spencer went into the bathroom and turned on the water for the shower.
“Just that, he had his chance and didn’t do anything.” She went to shut the door to have some sort of privacy but was stopped just as quickly by Beth, this was all news to her.
“Whoa, whoa, you can’t just drop a bomb like that on me and then not say anything else.”
“Remember that weekend that Kayce and I broke up?”
 “Yeah.”
She remembered it all too well, Kayce and their father had gotten into a fight, and Kayce decided that he was done with everything. He had snuck out in the middle of the night and went to the Abbott Ranch and talked Spencer into leaving with him.  They were at the gas station when Rip and Lee found them and Spencer had her choice and she had gotten into the truck with Lee and Rip.  And three days later Kayce showed up with Monica and shattered whatever was left of their relationship.  Spencer had stormed out of the house and Lee had followed her but not after throwing a couple of punches at his brother.
“And how he followed me to the barn?” Seeing her friends nod, Spencer carried on, “We had sex and then the next day, it was just business as normal. I don’t know what hurt worse. Kayce marrying Monica or Lee doing that. And honestly, Beth, if Lee would have said the word, I would have stayed no questions asked.”  Without waiting for a reaction from her best friend, the girl turned to shut the door to shower in semi-peace.
**
Beth waited until the shower was on fully and she could hear Spencer singing along to the Elvis song that was playing on the Bluetooth speaker before she picked up the phone to call her brother with every intention of cussing him out. If he had manned up and done something about it, then Spencer wouldn’t have had to run to the East Coast and stayed away longer than Beth herself had.
Not doing anything right or about their feelings seemed about right with her brothers. Lee threw himself into his work at the ranch. Kayce joined the military and Jamie, well he was a whole different sort that she really tried not to figure out.
She dialed her oldest brother’s phone number, her anger getting the best of her.
It rang once, twice, and then Lee's voice filtered the room. "What Beth?"
"You fucked  Spencer then left her?!"
"She is here?"
"Of course she is idiot! Her dad is getting married! She is the maid of Honor." She had seen the series of pictures from Spencer's Instagram of Spencer, Leighla, and several others going shopping in New York for the bridal fittings and knew that she was taking part in the wedding as the maid of honor, and for once she was happy that her friend was in the same time zone, it was going to make their weekly facetime calls so much easier.
"You need to make this right Lee, her boyfriend is here and he is." The unspoken words about Spencer's relationship hung in the air. The whole Dutton family knew about the man who was with Spencer and how much her father and stepmother hated him. On more than one occasion John had encouraged Lee to go out to Yale and get Spencer.
But for whatever reason Lee refused. Now, though, there was silent hope that he would do something about this. "You need to man up and do something before that son of a bitch kills her." The water shut off and Beth quickly disconnected the call and popped the cork on the bottle. She quickly filled two glasses and was ready to hand one over when she came into the room.
***
Lee was uncomfortable wearing the fancy clothes that his brother Jamie made him put on and even more so when he was surrounded by other people like his younger brother.
"Stop fidgeting.' John ordered in his ear, he  had just  come back in from the barn with Spencer's father and uncle, "We don't have to stay long."
"But I hope you stay long enough to visit with me Uncle John," Spencer's voice came from the stairs behind them and Lee felt his heart leap to his throat, she was even prettier than in his memories or in the pictures that he saw on Jamie's Instagram feed.
"Spence." His father greeted her as she came down the rest of the steps and into his arms for a hug. He lifted her off the ground and pressed a kiss to a cheek.
"The North looks good on you," Jamie added as he pressed his own kiss on her other cheek.
"Sure also raging asshole  does too." She returned before letting Rip greet her.
"Don't start with that Rip." She started as if she knew what the enforcer was going with before he even started. She wasn't in the mood to deal with it and she wasn't in the mood to deal with her boyfriend pouting that he got his ass handed to him by her family.
"Not until after the weddin'."  5 hours back in Montana and she had already slipped back into the old Spencer, she wondered if this was how Ryder felt when she went back to Charming.
Lee could feel almost how she steeled herself as she turned to look at him. "Hey, Lee."
"Hey, angel." He returned, his feet carrying him over to her and to do the same greeting that his father and brother did but her head turned at the last second and their lips met in a brief kiss.
"I am sorry.' She started but he waved her complaints away before looking over her head at the man who was coming down the stairs behind her. "Release her."
"Who the hell are you to demand anything?" Rip asked, from what he gathered from Beth and from what he heard from Spencer herself, he knew who it was and to him, the Abbotts as well as the Duttons were his family now and he would go to any lengths to protect his family.
"I am Lewis. Her boyfriend." Lee's hand tightened on Spencer's hip and he pulled her closer to him and Rip took a step forward standing in front of them.
"Oh come on Grace," Lewis complained, he wasn't smart enough to go towards her in the middle of a group of protectors.
Especially ones that looked ready to kill him at second notice.
"Why don't you and I go and have a talk." John demanded, "And let Spencer and the boys catch up." "Who the hell are you?" The smaller man asked, his hands clenched into fists at his sides.
"Lewis, this is John, he's my father's best friend and my godfather," Spencer answered, all too familiar Spencer Abbott's smirk was starting to form.
"This is Rip Wheeler." She went on, still firmly being held by Lee and Jamie who shifted ready to defend them if need be, "He works for Uncle John and is basically the right hand for him and Lee."
Lee's fingers dug into the shiny black material of her dress, in an effort not to fully lose his temper. "This is Jamie, he is the reason why I went to Yale and became a lawyer." Her hand that wasn't holding onto Lee's wrist squeezed Jamie's free one.
"And this is Lee.'
There was a realization of who Lee was dawning on Lewis' face and that barely held-on temper snapped he took massive steps forward only to be pushed back by Rip who was furious. As far he was concerned, Spencer was family and he was going to do anything and everything he could to protect her.
"Do not touch her!" He spat as Lee slowly moved away from the group, he wanted to defend her and handle Lewis but his first and only concern was Spencer and her safety. "Lee, take her into the dining room." Frank commented, "Leighla and the girls are waiting for her."
"Yes sir." Lee returned as he turned them around and steered her towards the rapidly filling dining room, casting angry looks at anyone who dared to get too close to them
"How bad is it Spence?" He asked as he pulled her chair out for her, he was already sitting at the table but he was going to take Lewis' seat to sit next to her. And the man could deal with it if he even came in from the barn.
"Bad. Rhett almost gutted him like a fish." She answered. The older Dutton son undid the button on his jacket and sat down next to her, his arm settling on the back of her chair. "He came out to the ranch in Wyoming to get me after my visit and lost his shit on me.”  She shifted so she was sitting closer to him, ‘Rhett and Perry talked me into doing a barrel race. And I went down hard. Bruised my hip and thigh.” Lee met his sister’s eyes and saw the furious way that the muscle in her jaw was working, of course, Beth knew more than what she was letting on.
She normally did and now like always it was going to be up to him to get to the bottom of it and save Spencer. Like he should have years ago.

I was so happy to see this pop up on my notifs!!!! I LOVE Lee and I am obsessed with Yellowstone again thanks to the new episodes coming out. I always wished he had gotten more time on the show and I think the dynamic between him and Beth would have been an interesting one to see so I love that brought it to the forefront here. Especially for this turn of events happening currently in the Dutton world.
The Jaws theme made me laugh because that is so on point as well as him knowing she's basically John:s enforcer in a way. And I loved that no matter what he was still willing to pick up the phone in case she needed him.
I just love your writing!!!! You write so beautifully and I feel like I'm actually reading missing moments for the characters in the shows they're in. Wonderful job on this one!!! ☺️💖💖

It’s late when Lee gets the call, he’s just put Liam down after his night feed when his phone chimes with Beth’s ring tone, the theme tune from Jaws. He freezes when he sees her name because he’s not spoken to Beth since before he left Montana.
He has never asked any of his siblings to take sides on the battlefield between him and his father, he hated the idea of putting them in that position. Beth though, she was a daddy’s girl through and through and she had made her allegiance very clear.
“I take it you’re not calling me at one in the morning to congratulate me on the birth of my son.” He remarks when he picks up the phone, his heart pounding in his chest.
She does this sometimes, calls him up when she’s half cut to berate him. He knows he should block her number but there’s going to be a time when she does call, when she does need her older brother and Lee, he’s going to be there for her when she does.
There’s silence on the other side of the line, followed by a shaky breath and Lee, he begins to realise that this call, it’s not like the others, that Beth actually sounds upset.
“Beth.” He says his grip tightening on the phone. “Is it Kayce?”
Their youngest brother has always been the wild child. As a kid Lee used to worry about the antics he got himself into, that concern, it still sits in the pit of his stomach to this day despite the fact he’s settling down.
“No…” Beth says, her voice broken and Lee knows now, he knows who Beth is calling about. “It’s Daddy… He’s dead.”

Family Ties
Tumblr media
Fandom: Yellowstone
Request: @little-pink-demon00 - A fic where Reader is Lee’s daughter but was adopted and raised by John and Evelyn (because Lee had her when he was young). And one day Jamie or Beth get pissed and spill the secret of who reader’s birth parents are. Angst happens, and ends with Kayce or John comforting reader.
Pairing: None
The Yellowstone Ranch kitchen still felt suffocating, the echo of Beth’s words ringing in the silence long after she stormed out. The weight of her revelation pressed down like a vice, your chest tightening with each passing second. John’s presence, usually so steady and commanding, felt different now. He looked tired, older somehow, as he sat across from you at the kitchen table.
The silence stretched on until you couldn’t bear it anymore. “Why?” The single word slipped from your lips, trembling and raw. “Why didn’t anyone tell me? Why let me live a lie?”
John leaned back in his chair, his broad shoulders sagging as he ran a hand through his graying hair. “Because we weren’t trying to hide the truth from you—we were trying to protect you from it.”
“Protect me from what?” Your voice rose, anger and confusion mixing with the ache in your chest. “From knowing where I came from? From knowing my father—Lee—didn’t want me?”
John’s jaw tightened, his eyes flashing with the kind of steel that only a man like him could muster. “Lee wanted you,” he said firmly. “Don’t you ever think otherwise. He loved you, but he was young—barely more than a boy himself. He was scared, and he didn’t know how to raise a child. So Evelyn and I stepped in.”
You blinked back tears, the weight of his words sinking in. “And my mother? What about her?”
John’s expression darkened. “She wasn’t ready either. She left Montana not long after you were born. Never looked back.”
The words stung, cutting deep even though you’d never known the woman. “So you just… decided to take me in? Pretend like I was yours?”
“We didn’t pretend,” John said, his voice softening. “You are mine. From the moment you came into this house, you were my daughter. I don’t give a damn what blood says. I raised you. I taught you how to ride, how to stand your ground, how to fight for what you believe in. You’re as much a Dutton as any of us.”
His words stirred something inside you—a flicker of the love and security you’d always felt in this family. But the confusion and hurt still loomed large, threatening to swallow you whole. “Does Kayce know?” you asked, your voice trembling. “Does everyone else know who I really am?”
John hesitated, and in that brief pause, you got your answer. “Beth and Jamie know,” he admitted. “Kayce doesn’t. And Lee—he wanted to tell you, but before he could…” His voice trailed off, the unspoken truth hanging heavy in the air.
Before Lee died.
Hours later, you found yourself sitting by the firepit outside, the vast Montana night stretching endlessly above you. The stars were so bright they almost didn’t seem real, but even their beauty couldn’t quiet the turmoil inside. The truth felt like a wound that wouldn’t stop bleeding, each new thought reopening it.
Footsteps crunched softly on the gravel behind you, and Kayce appeared, his silhouette illuminated by the flickering firelight. He carried two steaming mugs, offering one to you as he settled into the chair beside you.
“You look like you could use this,” he said, his voice low.
You took the mug gratefully, the warmth seeping into your hands. “Dad told you?” you asked, not looking at him.
“Yeah,” Kayce said simply. He leaned back in his chair, staring into the flames. “He told me everything.”
The silence between you was heavy but not uncomfortable. It felt like Kayce was giving you the space to speak first, to sort through your tangled thoughts. Finally, you broke the silence.
“It’s like everything I thought I knew about myself… isn’t real anymore,” you said, your voice shaking. “I thought I was John and Evelyn’s daughter. I thought I belonged.”
Kayce turned to you, his expression soft but resolute. “You do belong. Nothing’s changed that.”
“How can you say that?” you asked, your voice breaking. “I’m not even really a Dutton. I’m just some mistake Lee made when he was a teenager.”
“Don’t say that,” Kayce said sharply, his voice cutting through the quiet like a blade. “You’re not a mistake. You’re family. You’ve always been family. Blood doesn’t make a Dutton—it’s loyalty, and heart, and standing with the people you love no matter what. That’s who you are.”
Tears welled up in your eyes, and you quickly wiped them away, but Kayce wasn’t done.
“Do you know what Dad said when Tate was born?” he asked, his voice softening again. “He said being a father isn’t about who shares your blood. It’s about who shows up, who stays, who fights for you when it matters. And he’s shown up for you every day of your life. We all have.”
His words wrapped around the ache in your chest, soothing it like a balm. “I just… I don’t know how to feel,” you admitted. “I’m angry, and sad, and confused all at the same time.”
“That’s okay,” Kayce said. “You don’t have to figure it all out tonight. But don’t let what Beth said make you doubt who you are or where you stand. You’re one of us. Always have been, always will be.”
For a while, the two of you sat in silence, the crackle of the fire filling the space between you. Then Kayce spoke again, his voice quieter this time. “Lee would’ve been proud of you, you know.”
You turned to him, your heart tightening. “You think so?”
Kayce nodded. “I know so. He might’ve been young, but he loved you. And if he could see you now—the way you carry yourself, the way you fight for this ranch and this family—he’d be proud as hell.”
The tears you’d been holding back spilled over, but this time, you didn’t wipe them away. Kayce stayed beside you, his quiet presence steady and comforting. For the first time that day, the weight on your chest felt a little lighter.
Later, back in the house, John found you sitting at the kitchen table, the same spot where he’d told you the truth. He didn’t say anything at first, just sat down across from you and poured himself a glass of whiskey.
“I know today was hard,” he said finally, his voice low and steady. “But I want you to know something.”
You looked at him, waiting.
“You’re my daughter,” John said, his eyes locking onto yours with a fierce intensity. “I don’t care what Beth or anyone else says. I’ve loved you like my own since the day you were born, and nothing’s ever going to change that.”
The emotion in his voice broke something loose in you, and you leaned forward, resting your head in your hands as tears spilled freely. John reached across the table, his large, calloused hand covering yours.
“Family isn’t about blood,” he said softly. “It’s about showing up. And no matter what happens, I’ll always show up for you.”
In that moment, with John’s hand steady on yours and Kayce’s words still echoing in your mind, you realized that while the truth had shaken you, it hadn’t broken you. This was your family—messy, complicated, and flawed—but yours. And that would never change.

After the sunset - Lee Dutton (Yellowstone)
The fic i promised like last week!! Whoops but here it is. Not proofread so ignore anything that doesn’t make sense. Requests are open
-
The soft sun peaked through the blinds. Wanting a few more hours of sleep, rolling over when it felt like you hit a wall. Groaning, trying to make more room between you and the wall when you opened your eyes and saw that the wall was your boyfriend. Sound asleep he threw an arm over you, pulling you into him.
“Lee, Lee, get the hell away from me,” muffled in his arms, his grip somehow getting tighter around you. Trying to pry his arms off when Lee finally opened his eyes, groaning. Sleep weighed his eyes, looking into yours, “What’d I do now,” muffled by the pillow.
Burning up as if you were in a sauna. You brushed Lee’s hair out of his face, caressing his cheek while his eyes slowly lowered again, “Nothin baby don’t worry about it.” Lee hummed while you continued to run your fingers through his hair.
Breaking the comfortable silence, “What’s the plan for today cowboy?” Lee sighed heavily before answering you, “ too many things. Got a meeting later with the people who stole my dad’s cattle.” You grimaced at the thought of him going off to meet with people who want him dead. “By the people do you mean Monica’s family.”
“Doesn’t matter who they are, they stole from us and now we have to get them back.” Lee’s groggy voice filled the room. You rolled on top of him, straddling his hips. “Doesn’t matter who or what they took, I just need you back here in one piece.” You leaned down to kiss him. He deepened the kiss, battling for dominance.
Lee broke the kiss, your foreheads touching as your chests heaved, “Be safe, last time you said they shot at you guys. ‘N Lee Dutton if I hear something like that happens I’m done, you’ll never see me again.” You kissed his chest before you laid your head on him.
Feeling a heavy hand caressing the back of your head, “Don’t worry darlin, be here tonight just a little late as usual. I’ll come back crawling to you if that’s all I can do.” He kissed the top of your head, “I’ll come back half dead, always coming back to you.”
Leaning up to kiss him for the last time before your alarms rang. “Don’t make empty promises cowboy.” Getting off of him and heading to the bathroom. “My promises are never empty.”
-
“God damnit Lee! Stay with me” Kayce shouted as he kicked the horse to go faster. Making their way to the chopper, “Dad, Rob-“ John cut him off by getting Lee off the horse. “Help me.” Throwing one of Lee’s arms over their shoulders, Lee’s shallow breathing, legs dragging as the Dutton’s tried their best to get him into the chopper.
“Find Y/n, tell her before the news.”
-
Water droplets on the ground as you looked at the empty bed. Knowing you’ll wake up to him accidentally slamming the door and apologizing. Getting in bed, shutting off the lights and making sure the alarms set for tomorrow, the old clock Lee insisted you used instead of a phone.
Phone ringing on the side table. Seeing it’s Kayce calling, probably calling to bitch about what your boyfriend did, hitting decline and powering it off. Closing your eyes and going to sleep.
Harsh bangs on the front door woke you up. Looking at the clock, seeing it had barely been five minutes since you shut your phone off. More bangs, opening the drawer in the side table, pulling out the gun Lee insisted you learned to use in case of these situations. Moving towards one of the windows, peaking out to see it’s Ryan and Rip.
Gun still in your hand as you unlocked the door. The bewildered men shouted at you to put on your jacket and put the gun down. “Can someone just tell me what’s going on!” Rip threw your jacket at you as Ryan put your shoes in front of you. Ryan made his way out and into the truck. You stared at Rip, waiting for him to say something, “No time sweetheart, explain in the truck, now we gotta go.” Rip said. Throwing everything on, Ryan waiting in the truck as Rip closed the front door behind the two of you.
-
“My god where are we going, you said you’d explain in the truck.” You’re in the back, watching as Ryan and Rip looked at each other. Neither wanting to say anything. 10 minutes is how long you’ve been in the truck and you’re thinking about jumping out instead. Leaving your phone was a mistake, there was a need in you, needing to hear Lee’s voice. Needing to see how he was doing or where he fuck he was.
“Give me a phone, I’m calling Lee and when I get him on the phone he’s gonna have both your asses.” Silence still stood amongst the men. You leaned in to make sure they could see your face. “Rip did you not fucking hear me! I said give me a fucking phone so I can call Lee, might as well call Beth, she’ll get your ass too.” Neither of them so as much flinched at your threats.
Visibly angry you sat back as you realized you were now in town. Speeding the entire way here but Rip’s foot got even heavier, flying through town when you made it to the hospital. Cop cars with their lights on, the personal vehicles of the Dutton family in the front of the parking lot. Ryan turned around to look at you as the truck made a full stop in front. “It’s Lee, meeting went wrong.”
You jumped out of the truck, stumbling as your feet made contact with the pavement. Running in the hospital, the receptionist looked at you with sorrow, reading the scared expression plastered across your face. “I- Lee Dutton where is he.” Fingers tapped on the keyboard in front of her. “ Are you a relative of some sort?” The words tumbled out without a thought, “His wife, I’m his wife.” She looked you in the eyes with a sad smile, “He is currently in surgery on the second floor Mrs. Dutton.” A quick thank you before you made your way to the elevator.
Thoughts raced through your mind as the elevator dinged on the second floor. The Dutton family sitting the waiting room, heads snapped towards the elevator door. Making eye contact with a blood shot eyed Jaime. The tears began falling as you made your over to him. Pulling you into a bone crushing hug, “I’m so sorry Y/n, he’s, he was.”
You could feel your heart drop when Jamie said was. Ringing in your ears as Jaimes mouth continued to move, not hearing a thing. John made his way over to you two. Standing next to Jamie. You cut through the two, heading towards an empty seat next to Beth.
“Can you just tell me what’s going on. Please Beth where’s Lee.” You choked on a sob as Beth’s eyes filled with tears. Taking out a cigarette. You snatched the lighter out of her hand. “God damnit it Beth just tell me!”
“Robert Long shot him over some fucking cattle.” Grabbing the lighter out of your hand before storming out.
You sat in shock, head in your hands as John came over to console you. “He’ll pull through, he’s a tough kid everyone knows it, he won’t leave you like this.”
-
It was hours before someone came and told you guys anything. Lee was alive, breathing on his own, could be seen but only two at a time.
Everyone looked at you and John, signaling you two were the first ones. Making your way to his room. Room 320, stopping right outside of the door. Too scared to go in and see what had become of the man you love. John put a hand on your shoulder, “You don’t need to see him right now, doc says he’ll be asleep for a few hours anyway, go eat something, rest a little.”
“Thank you for the offer but I don’t think your opinion in what I do matters at the moment.” Opening the door to see a pale faced Lee. Hooked up to machines, seeing his heartbeat somehow calmed yours. You moved towards the bed, taking a seat next to Lee, grabbing his hand in yours. You could feel the lump in your throat start to form again. Tears were slowly making their way down your cheeks all over again. You couldn’t be here.
Letting go of his hand and leaving the room. You were met with Jamie standing right outside the door, waiting for either of you to leave. He moved out of your way, calling after you but not following. Once you reached the first floor, asking to use the hospitals phone to call Ryan and get you the fuck out of there.
-
You couldn’t move out of the water. The once hot water that burned your skin was now freezing. Goosebumps filled your body. Feeling guilty for leaving Lee. For not being brave enough to face the situation head on. Leaving with your tail tucked after insulting the man whose son was lying in the hospital.
Your phone had been ringing for two hours now. Getting voicemail after voicemail from Beth. Wondering why the fuck you left. John calling just to check up on you as he put it. Jamie wanting you to come back to help deal with everything. You didn’t want to deal with everything.
Drying off, throwing on sweatpants and one of Lee’s hoodies. Checking your phone again, seeing a message from Beth, telling you Lee had finally woken up.
The front door opening, seeing Ryan standing there,”You have such good timing you know.” He chuckled before ushering you out, “Yeah well, credit goes to Beth, it’s like I can feel her anger through text, come on.” Turing to truck on and heading back to the hospital.
-
Room 320. The bold white letters stared back at you as you tried to go in again. John opened the door, seeing you through the little window. You stood outside in the hallway. Looking at the man you insulted 3 hours ago. “Been asking for you since he woke up. Doc says to not stress him any you know.” You nodded as he left the room. Leaving just you and Lee.
The tip of your nose started to tingle, water filling your eyes again for what seemed the hundredth time today. Except this time you were looking in the eyes of the man you love.
Those big soft brown eyes staring back into yours. Slowly making your way towards him. Carefully sitting next to him, trying to be as close to him as you could without causing any pain. “You’re treatin’ me like I’m gonna break, supposed to be the way ‘round.” He trying his best to put a smile on your face. A tight lipped grin made its way onto your face. You choked on a sob. Lee’s hand wiped the tears that were starting to fall again.
“Told you I’d come back darlin. Would never leave you here, never doing that to you.” Your sobs got louder when he spoke. Inching towards his chest, hearing him wince made you shoot right back up, “I’m sorry I’m sorry I didn’t mea-“ Index finger pressed softly against your lips. “Told you to never say sorry to me, something that’ll never need to happen. Now come here.” Lee moved a little to the side as best as he could. Wedging you between him and the bed guard. Laying down right next to him. Your head slightly resting in the side of his neck.
“Who told you,” Lee asked as you moved closer to his side. It took you awhile to answer him. Still not believing what was going on. Words stumbling out, “Beth.”
Lee hummed, “My sister’s always been great at delivering shitty news.” You let out a humorless chuckle, “Should find someone else to deliver news, she’ll probably start delivering punches instead of the news.” You could feel Lee laughing, “Yeah well it’s always her or Rip delivering something bad, ‘least Beth won’t whip out her flip phone to call you.” You laughed. “Rip and that fucking flip phone, don’t know how he gets Beth going when he whips that thing out.” Lee groaned in disgust as you continued to laugh, “Alright fun’s over, you ruined it.”
Lying in silence, listening to the heart monitor fill the air. Racking your brain to figure out something to say. Lee beat you to it, “Ya gonna leave me now?” A small grin was on his face. Made no sense to you, a man who was on the brink of death a few hours ago was grinning.
You hummed before answering him, “If I leave you now I think Beth’ll beat me up.” Lee silently laughed, agreeing with you, before you continued, “But I’m thinking you deserve one more chance.” Lee nodded his head, tipping his head towards the ceiling, “Thank you, scared me for a minute.” You smiled at his reaction.
Lee turned his head towards you, “Reach into my jacket pocket and pull out what’s in there.” Complying, getting out of the bed, to reach for Lee’s jacket on the chair near you. Grabbing the jacket, sitting down on the bed and searching the pockets when you pulled out a small black velvet box. You looked at Lee with confusion. Lee had the biggest shit eating grin on his face. “Open it.” Opening it to find a beautiful diamond ring, tears flooding your eyes as you stared at the ring, “Now I know this is probably the worst way to propose, in a hospital. I promise I planned everything out, was gonna have Gator make your favorite foods, go ride Ray and Loco after then propose in a field just somewhere out there but then you know this happened and what I’m trying to say is.“
Lee ended his long speech, grabbing your hand as you sat there in shock, looking into his eyes, “Y/n L/n, will you marry me?”

Master list of all my fics
You're in the wind, I'm in the water - Karsenwrites Succession Caroline Collingwood/Logan Roy G, 1k
Summary: Connor's thoughts on Caroline being pregnant and how his thoughts change when baby Kendall arrives.
Bran I - Karsenwrites Game of Thrones/ASOIAF G, 2k
Summary: Things go a little differently in Bran’s first chapter in Clash of Kings.
Or
Bran and Rickon talk and have a moment.
“Bran heard soft snores from beside and his brother’s form was peacefully asleep beside him. Rickon’s head full of curls rested on Bran’s shoulder as he slept soundly. The wolves' howls still echoed but Bran found himself at peace with the noise combined with his brother’s soft breathing.”
Will you be there with me, Father, Sister, Brother? - Karsenwrites Yellowstone Jamie Dutton/Christina, Kayce Dutton/Monica Dutton T, 1k
Summary: “Is there a reason you are calling me at five in the morning?” Kayce asks his brother.
Kayce expected the usual response of ‘Your up anyway’ but that did not come. What he got in response was a shaky neverous breath from Jamie’s side of the line.
“Jamie?” Kayce asks.
“I’m a father.” Jamie blurts out randomly. But it’s softly spoken. Like the whipsers they shared in childhood. Like when Kayce had told Jamie and Lee simply one night, ‘I’m going to be a father’.
TLDR: Christina dies in childbirth and Jamie is left to care for his son. Set pre-Season 3 with a lot of Canon divergence. The Dutton family is close and caring of eachother in this!
I'm gonna kill you (If you don't beat me to it) - Karsenwrites Supernatural G, 1k
Summary: John Winchester suddenly finds himself tied to a chair with two strangely familiar men infront of him. But they shouldn’t know eachother! Ethier way the tall one doesn’t seem fond of him in any way.
Your braids like a pattern (Love you to the moon and to Saturn) - Karsenwrites Game of Thrones/ASOIAF G, 1k
Summary: Sansa Stark’s and the Stark family’s relationship through her having them braid her hair.
A character study of sorts.
C.A.T + Moving - Karsenwrites Game of Thrones/ASOIAF Catelyn/Ned G, 4k
Summary: Jon sets the ball on the ground and puts his foot on it to keep it in place as he raises the goal to it’s full height which is huge. Jon picks the ball up again and starts back where the trailer is before running like he’s doing a layup and dunking it in the hoop.
Theon smirks as Jon passes him the ball, he makes it as well. They both smirk as Robb, who shoots them both a dirty look, takes the ball.
“This is where Robb looses the game.” Theon jokes, but it is the truth considering it’s happened many times before to the point Robb should’ve suspected they would do this.
Robb repeats their actions but drastically fails and ends up on the ground half on the concret half in the grass and his hat on the floor.
“You’re taller than me.” Jon says laughing, “How do you miss that?”
Robb ignores them blushing and putting his hat back on after he’s pushed himself back up. “I’m only a CA.”
TDLR: Catelyn and Ned are moving into their now renovated house and Theon, Robb, Jon, & Bran play CAT.

This should be headcanon! I totally agree with this fact because Lee seemed to be that kind of guy who took care of what he loved fiercely. He would certainly defend Jamie from their own father and Beth. Maybe if Lee had survived Jamie wouldn't have gone to the dark side of the force because he would have someone other than Kayce who loved him.
That's why I love these two characters! I love them so much that I'm publishing fics about them. I'll be really happy if you read them 🥰
You belong with me (Jamie Dutton x OC)
Begin Again (Lee Dutton x OC)
YELLOWSTONE HEADCANON
Lee always knew about Jamie's adoption; he was old enough to remember his mom hadn't been pregnant, and a few years later he found some papers in his father's desk. He never told anyone.
It didn't matter to him, not in the slightest, but he became a lot more protective of Jamie, trying to shield him from pain and make him see he mattered. A voice in his heart told him his little brother would need it one day, and maybe he wouldn't be there to do it then.

15 - Vow to the Sky

Part 16
Raised Fair Share of Hell

Keeping my body pressed up against the stone brick wall I kept my eyes closed thinking about what my sister had done to me and the father of my child. We had slept in this cell the whole night and it was the middle of the day and we still haven’t been let out.
Kayce was previously sitting on the ground across the room from me but now he was currently pacing back and forth where his boots would screech across the floor every now and then. Covering my ears with my hands I couldn’t stand the squeaking anymore so I snapped my voice up at him. “Can you please stop squeaking your dang boots across the floor. I can’t take it anymore!”
“Oh I'm sorry , am I annoying you?” He halted in his tracks glaring at me for only a minute then going back to pacing the room.
Glaring at the cowboy before me I didn’t remove my hands from over my ears. “Yes you are.”
“Well I’m sorry but I can’t stand being locked up and not having a way out. I - I feel like- urgh never mind you wouldn’t want to know why I don’t like being in here.”
Slowly raising myself to my feet I got up sending him a snarcky reply. “Is it because you can’t stand the fact that I don’t love you anymore huh?”
“It only has a little bit to do with you.” He responded to me.
Crossing my arms over my chest I tilted my head to the side. “Okay so what’s running through your head?”
“I can’t be locked up in a room with the woman that I love. But she wants nothing to do with me!” Kayce turned on his feet raising his voice at me getting up in front of me where our chests were pressing against one another.
Lifting my head I pushed my nose up against his own, feeling my hot breath mixing with the others. “I have wanted you since the night you asked me to be your girlfriend. I have wanted you even after I got pregnant at 16. I have wanted you during all the years of raising our daughter. I’ve never stopped wanting to be with you, Kayce.”
“Then what the hell were you doing sleeping with one of my fathers ranch hands?” He throws his arms out away from his sides.
Covering my face with my hands I screamed into my palms. “How much longer are you going to keep bringing that up? It happened, Kayce. I had sex with someone else. And in case you keep forgetting you slept with Monica while you were dating me.”
“That was a mistake. I ended up with you. I chose you, Alissa. I’ll always choose you until the day I die.” He declares taking two steps forward getting closer to me. “I don’t know how to fix this, Alissa. I don’t know how to not be with you, not talk with you, not be around you or my daughter. You’re my wife. You’re my best friend.”
Raising my voice I shoved him harshly away from me where his black Cowboy hat fell off of his head. “I don’t believe you. You used to be honest with me but I don’t believe a word you say nowadays.”
“I swear on Lee and my mothers grave!” Kayce suddenly shouted causing me to stumble backwards slightly. Raising a hand to my lips I completely froze in front of him. The last time he said those words was when we got married. He has always kept his wedding vows.
The main door of the Lambert house got opened by my father who was standing on the porch all dressed up in a suit and tie. He didn't have a cowboy hat on like he normally does, but this was a special one time occasion. I stroll out the door wearing a white dress that went down to my knees that had light brown cowgirl boots. “You look absolutely beautiful, Alissa Rae.” He beams a smile seeing that i had my hair loose except for some of it pinned up in a crown.
“Thank you, daddy.” I sent him a smile back.
He extended his arm to me, searching my face for any signs of doubt. “Are you ready to do this?”
“Yes, daddy.” I nodded, looping my arm through his before we began walking down the steps and made our way over to the side gate that butted up with the Dutton's fence.
By the time we reached the fence line I saw my mom and sister standing beside Beth. John, Lee and Jamie were standing by their brother Kayce. Yet Kayce was standing on the side of his fence dressed in a black shirt and tie, his nicest blue jeans and dirty brown boots. “You better take good care of my daughter and grandchild, Dutton. You know I'll come after you if you don't.” My father warned the young boy as he placed my hands in Kayce’s.
“You’re not too snug in that dress are you?” My best friend asked me, eyeing me up and down. I had told him that we would have to do a flash wedding since you would start to see that I was pregnant and my clothes would start to not fit right anymore till I have the baby.
Shaking my head, I squeezed his hands in mine. “I'm fine, Kayce. I just want to marry you already.”
“I want to call you my wife here and now.” He grinned looking over to his oldest brother Lee.
Lee removed his cowboy hat holding it in his hands beginning to perform the ceremony. “You two can begin reading your vows now.”
Tucking some of my hair behind my ears doing my best to not start bawling out in tears. “Kayce John Dutton, we've been in each other's life since we were five years old. I can say for certain that your siblings have always felt like my siblings and I can only assume that yours feel the same way about me and my sister Alana. When we started dating I couldn't imagine being with anybody else but you and I am overjoyed to be calling you my husband from this day forward. You are my other half and I hope I am the same to you.”
“Alissa Rae, I used to get so embarrassed when Beth would tease me saying I was in love with you and I am grateful she saw something in you before I did cause now I'm calling you my wife…uhh sorry.” Kayce moved one hand up to rub his eyes making me almost start crying. “You know me better than I probably know myself and you can say the same thing about me when it comes to you. I swear that I'll love you even more than I do right now. You are my whole world now and forever.”
Kayce slipped my wedding ring on my left ring and I slipped his black band on his finger. “I now pronounce you husband and wife. You're officially a Dutton, Alissa.” Lee declared with a cheeky grin plastered on his face. He scooped me up in his arms, suddenly making me squeal.
“Lee!” Lee sat me down directly in front of my husband but now I was standing on the side of the fence that belonged to the Dutton's.
“Now you get to keep his hat forever.” Beth came up behind me placing Kayce's dusty black cowboy hat on my head making me giggle.
Kayce wrapped his arms around my waist tugging me against his chest kissing me long and slow. “It's been yours along with my heart since we were five years old, Lissa Rae.”
“That’s Lissa Rae Dutton to you.” I drew back from the kiss, correcting his words. He chuckled before I cupped the sides of his face in my hands bringing him in for another kiss.
Blinking tears away from my vision I barely got a word out before Kayce crossed the room and closed the space between us. He crashed his lips down hungrily onto mine, where I gripped his shoulders kissing him back ever so slowly. “Kayce, you’re still my best friend-“
He raised his hands up to cradle my face in his palms. He tilted my chin upward and bent his knees some so I wasn’t standing on my tippy toes to kiss him. Flinging my arms around his neck I drew him in for another kiss and he hoisted me up by my thighs wrapping them around his waist never breaking the kiss. “Alissa-“
“Kayc - I’m sorry.” I muttered in between kisses while he pushed my back against the wall and laced one of his hands into my hair.
He broke the kiss needing to catch his breath as he rested his forehead against mine. “Don’t apologize. I shouldn’t - I shouldn’t have spied on you and Ryan. It - that was my mistake. I’m - I’m sorry, Lissa Rae.”
“Kayce, I was hurt. I tried to move on from you because I thought you’d moved on from me. I thought you - I thought you’d chosen Monica.” I sniffed, pushing back some tears.
Kayce moved his thumb up gently, wiping them away. “Hey, hey, you don’t have to explain yourself to me. I love you no matter what happens.”
We quickly turned our heads in the direction of the outside door opening at the same time as a loud unlocking alarm sounded off. Footsteps entered the room where we saw an officer entering the room coming to our cell door. “You two finally made bail.”
“She paid the money.” I sighed in relief.
The officer nodded, unlocking the cell door. “Yes. She did. I’d suggest not doing something like this again. Tell your sister we can’t lock you two up for a relationship issue.”
“We’ll keep that in mind, deputy. Come on, let’s get home before the kids start to worry about their parents.” Kauce draped his arm over my shoulder where we walked out together holding hands, heading out to his truck once we were given our stuff back.

Parte II
Boston folks
Natalie stared at the steering wheel, frustration bubbling over. She turned the key in the ignition once more, but all she got was the same pitiful click. Her Volvo refused to start, as stubborn as she was. After everything—being brushed off by John Dutton, navigating a tense auction hall full of Montana’s roughest ranchers, and dealing with Jamie’s half-baked plans—the last thing she needed was a dead car.
She leaned her forehead against the wheel, taking a deep breath. She’d been at this for what felt like forever, but the car wouldn’t budge. Damn it.
Just then, she heard the unmistakable rumble of a truck pulling up behind her. She didn’t need to look to know who it was.
"Car trouble, Miss Wentworth?" Lee’s voice carried that familiar mix of amusement and concern. He was enjoying this far too much.
She sat up straight, took another breath, and forced her face into a mask of calm before turning to face him. "Nope. Just sitting here for fun."
Lee chuckled, his grin widening. He stepped closer to her window. "Need a hand, or are you too proud to admit defeat?"
Natalie narrowed her eyes at him. "I’m perfectly capable of handling my own car, thank you very much."
"Sure you are," he said, leaning against the side of her car, clearly settling in for a long conversation. "But you’ve been at it for a while now, haven’t you? You can keep fighting it, or you can let me help."
She glanced down at the key in her hand, contemplating her options. She hated asking for help, especially from someone like Lee who seemed to think he had the world figured out. But, unfortunately, so did her car.
With a heavy sigh, she turned back to him. "Fine. You win. What can you do?"
Lee straightened up, a cocky grin playing on his lips. "That’s more like it." He walked around to the front of her car, lifted the hood, and took a look. After a few minutes of tinkering, he stepped back and shrugged. "Looks like your battery’s shot. I can tow it for you if you want."
Natalie pursed her lips. "I didn’t realize Montana hospitality involved towing cars for damsels in distress."
Lee gave her a look. "You ain’t no damsel, but we help our own out here. Whether they like it or not."
She crossed her arms, stubbornness flaring up again. "I don’t need rescuing."
"No one said you did," he shot back, heading toward his truck. "But you do need a ride. Now, unless you plan on walking to your new apartment, I suggest you let me do what I’m good at."
She bit her lip, watching him as he hooked up her car to his powerful truck. The man was infuriating, but there was no denying he knew what he was doing. Eventually, she relented, slipping out of her car and making her way toward his truck.
"Just… don’t think this means I owe you anything," she muttered as she climbed into the passenger seat.
"I wouldn’t dream of it," Lee drawled, sliding into the driver’s seat. He turned the key, and the engine roared to life beneath them. As they pulled out of the parking lot, Natalie found herself watching the landscape pass by, the mountains cutting into the sky like jagged teeth.
After a few moments of silence, Lee glanced over at her. "You know, you could’ve just flown in. Would’ve saved you a lot of trouble."
Natalie shrugged, her eyes still on the horizon. "I don’t like flying."
He raised an eyebrow, expecting more. "Bad experience?"
"No," she said simply. "I just don’t like it. I like driving. I like the control, the speed. The feeling of being on the road. Planes… they take that away from you."
Lee chuckled softly. "You like speed, huh? That why you drove thirty-six hours straight just to deal with a bunch of stubborn ranchers?"
She smirked. "Among other things."
He shook his head, half-impressed, half-amused. "You Boston folks are something else."
Natalie shot him a look. "Oh really? And what makes us so different from you ‘cowboys?"
Lee grinned. "Well, for one thing, we don’t mind helping folks out when they need it. Seems like you city types are too busy trying to prove something all the time."
She bristled at that. "That’s not true. In Boston, people help each other. We just don’t go around assuming everyone needs saving."
Lee raised an eyebrow. "Is that what you think this is? Me trying to save you?"
"You tell me," she retorted. "I didn’t ask for your help."
"No," he agreed, his tone calm. "But that doesn’t mean you didn’t need it."
Natalie opened her mouth to argue but stopped herself. She hated that he had a point. Back in Boston, she was used to fending for herself. It was a dog-eat-dog world, and asking for help was seen as a weakness. Here, though, things were different. People just… helped, without expecting anything in return. It was disconcerting.
"I guess we see things differently," she muttered after a moment. "In the city, no one has time to stop and offer help. Everyone’s too busy."
"Maybe that’s the problem," Lee said quietly, glancing at her. "Out here, we don’t see kindness as a weakness. We just see it as the right thing to do."
She scoffed. "Kindness? You call this kindness? You’ve been teasing me non-stop since we met."
"Hey, I’m just having a little fun," he said, smiling. "Can’t blame me for trying to lighten the mood."
"I can, actually," she replied dryly. "And I will."
He laughed, his deep, warm chuckle filling the cab of the truck. "Alright, alright. I’ll tone it down. But you’ve got to admit—it’s better than sitting in silence, brooding."
"I don’t brood," she snapped.
"Could’ve fooled me," Lee teased. She shot him a glare, but he just smiled wider.
They fell into a more comfortable silence after that, the tension between them easing as they drove. When they reached her new apartment building, Lee parked the truck and got out to unhook her car.
As he finished up, he turned to her. "Need help with your bags?"
Natalie shook her head immediately. "I can manage."
Lee leaned against his truck, folding his arms over his chest. "You sure about that? You don’t have to prove anything to me, you know."
"I don’t need your help, Lee," she insisted, her voice firm. "Just because I’m from the city doesn’t mean I’m incapable of carrying my own bags."
He chuckled. "Never said you couldn’t. Just thought it might be nice for you to take a break, is all."
"I don’t need a break," she replied sharply. "I’ve been taking care of myself for years, and I’m not about to stop now just because some cowboy with a hero complex thinks I should."
Lee’s smile faded, and he raised his hands in surrender. "Alright, Miss Wentworth. Have it your way."
She nodded once, satisfied. But as she grabbed her suitcase from the back seat, she couldn’t help but glance at him out of the corner of her eye. He was still standing there, watching her with that infuriating calmness, like he had all the time in the world.
Finally, she spoke up. "Why do you even care? You don’t know me. You don’t owe me anything."
Lee shrugged. "Doesn’t have to be that complicated. Sometimes, it’s just about doing what feels right."
She stared at him for a moment, trying to make sense of his words. In Boston, everything was calculated. People didn’t do things without a reason. But here, in this strange, wild place, people seemed to operate on a different set of rules—rules she didn’t fully understand.
"Maybe you’re right," she admitted quietly, almost to herself.
Lee smiled again, but this time it was softer, less teasing. "Maybe I am. Or maybe we just see the world differently."
With that, he tipped his hat and climbed back into his truck. "Good luck with the rest of your night, Miss Wentworth. If you need anything else, you know where to find me."
She watched him drive off, the rumble of his truck fading into the distance. As she carried her bags inside, she couldn’t shake the feeling that her time in Montana was going to challenge her in ways she never expected.
And somehow, she didn’t entirely hate the idea.

Part 10 of Pre-War and Part 1 of Currahee will come this weekend sometime.
As well as part 2 of Among Angels, Part 1 of the rewrite of Darkest Before The Dawn and Part One On The Oustide, part 4 of Current State of Affairs and hopefully part one of Star Crossed Lovers. Maybe part 2 of Royals too but that will probably be towards the end of the week.
