Accusation
Link Click fic 3!!!! Ahhh I’m obsessed with them. I included Qiao Ling once again because she makes this group.
Warnings: This fic contains tickling so if that’s not your thing keep scrolling ❤️
Summery: Lu Guang accuses Cheng Xiaoshi of something. Lu Guang gets a taste of his own medicine. Chaos.
With those two boys around, the shop was in constant chaos. Qiao Ling had just come down the stairs that morning, still rubbing sleep out of her eyes, when she nearly fell over. It was a rushed blur with black hair followed by a blur with white hair.
“QIAO LING SAVE ME!!” Cheng Xiaoshi cried in a high pitched panic. He let out a shriek as Lu Guang nearly caught onto his varsity jacket.
They played cat and mouse around the living room as Lu Guang was hot on the raven heads trails.
Qiao Ling sighed. Although she was annoyed, she couldn’t help the grin on her face. It wasn’t really home unless those two were behaving like cats and dogs. She had to admit it added to the quiet atmosphere of the photo shop.
Soon Cheng Xiaoshi made a break for it up the stairs, and they were soon out of sight. Suddenly the landlady heard a loud thump.
She then grew worried. What was Lu Guang going to do to him? What did Cheng Xiaoshi even do? And what was that thump upstairs?
She suddenly heard an explosion of uncontrolled high pitched cackles.
Qiao Ling then understood immediately what was happening now. She made it up the stairs to see Lu Guang having pinned Cheng Xiaoshi, squeezing and massaging at his hips vigorously.
“Where is my book!!!???” Lu Guang yelled. “IHIHIHI TOHOHLD YOHOHOHU IHIHIHI DOHOHNT KNOHOHOW!!!” Cheng Xiaoshi writhed, pulling uselessly at his wrists.
“BULLSHIT!” And he went for his stomach now, unleashing his most brutal attack yet, making the raven head squeal and his laughter intensify.
Cheng Xiaoshi then noticed Qiao Ling watching from the side. “QIAHAHAO LIHIHING HEHEHEHELP!!!”
She considered this for a moment. If she helped Cheng Xiaoshi, he would be even more in her debt than he already was for her helping him. But if she did help him, Lu Guang might end up going for her next in revenge. But then, Lu Guang wouldn’t possibly attack a women like that, right?
She saw that Cheng Xiaoshi seemed to be really struggling and she started to feel pity for him. She decided she needed the guy alive in order for him to fulfill his debt promise.
From behind, she dug her fingers into Lu Guangs sides and, he bursted into his rare giggles, immediately retracting his hands from Cheng Xiaoshis body reflexively to protect his own. He fell back into Qiao Lings arms as she wiggled her fingers.
In that moment of weakness Cheng Xiaoshi managed to slip free under him and sat on his legs to further pin him down.
“Thanks landlady,” he grinned, “now this can be a little more fair.”
“Ihihidiohohot hohohow ihihihis thihihis fahahair?!” Lu Guang protested, trying to squirm away from Qiao Lings hands.
“Because you know I’m more ticklish than you and that I don’t stand a chance by myself. I need backup to help me out here if I’m going to take you down!”
Cheng Xiaoshi started digging into his hips. “How’d you like that huh? Not so fun when you’re the victim!”
Lu Guang bucked his hips and began laughing hysterically. “NOHOHO PLEHEHEAHSE!!!”
“Aww what’s wrong Lu Guang? Can’t take what you dish out?” Cheng Xiaoshi teased.
“IHIHIHI JUHUHUST WAHAHANT MY BOHOHOHOOK BAHAHAHAHACK!!!”
“And I told you I don’t have it!” Cheng Xiaoshi insisted once more.
“Wait you mean that book? The one I saw next to the coffee table?” Qiao Ling interjected, stopping her fingers.
Cheng Xiaoshi stopped tickling also and looked down at Lu Guang.
Lu Guang looked sheepish now. He had jumped to conclusions.
“Lu Guang…”
“Um.. sorry about that.”
Uh oh… this could get pretty ugly.
“I think this calls for some serious pay back, don’t you think Qiao Ling?”
“W-wait…”
“Yeah you’re right Cheng Xiaoshi.” Qiao Ling grinned, now seriously getting caught up in the playfulness of the situation. She took his arms and grabbed them, holding his wrists above his head
Cheng Xiaoshi then began attacking his worst spot, digging into his top most ribs.
Lu Guang felt as if electricity was being spread all over his body. He convulsed at the intense sensations.
“WAHAHAHAHAIT NOHOHOHO!!!” He threw his head back and became lost in hysterical cackles. He struggled at first but soon became weak and just lay there to take it.
“PLEHEHEHEASE IHIHIM SOHOHOHORRY!!!” He attempted to push his arms away but it was really no use. Cheng Xiaoshi had him good. He also occasionally went under his shirt to get his belly as well. It didn’t help that Qiao Ling was tickling his neck, which made him uncharacteristically squeal and try bringing his shoulders up to attempt to trap her fingers.
Soon his laughter went almost silent and the two noticed he was starting to have a lot of trouble breathing.
They both let him go and he could do nothing but curl in on himself and try to catch his breath.
“Ihihi hahahate yohohu guhuhuys…” He managed through his excess giggles.
“Awe but you love us!” Cheng Xiaoshi teased, poking the white haired boys red flushed cheek.
He was a lot more careful of accusing others from then on.

courage of stars, ch1 | writer’s commentary
Hello and welcome to the writer's commentary for courage of stars, chapter 1! I'm so excited to talk about this fic and share some background information with you, and I hope you will enjoy this journey as well!
Just a bit of housekeeping, the chapter-by-chapter commentary will go less into the symbolism/motif/narrative commentary (saving that for the end of the fic!). It's more here to get into some of the history and/or cultural tidbits, since both lend itself in both the form of Easter eggs to being pretty integral to the plot. I love getting to write Link Click fic because I get to tap into parts of me that I don't always get to do in other fandoms, so I am really excited to get into this!
As a note: I am neither a historian nor native-born Chinese. I have had the privilege of being raised in the culture and the anecdotes of modern Chinese history, but I feel it necessary to comment that this is not going to boast as 100% historically or culturally accurate, and so I encourage you that if something about the story piques your curiosity about real life events or culture or history, go ahead and read up on it! That being said, my depictions of history are based a lot of anecdotes or personal history, and I typically am not exaggerating.
Housekeeping done! Let's get into it!

“Sweet husband,” Cheng Xiaoshi said coyly. His tongue tentatively wrapped around the Cantonese pinyin, delicately trying the five extra tones for size.
In this universe, I've made both Cheng Xiaoshi and Lu Guang at least half Cantonese (because I write fic for ME). Cantonese is a different dialect than what they typically speak in the show, which is Mandarin. Only Ouyang Bubei is seen speaking Cantonese in Link Click. Cantonese is not mutually intelligible with Mandarin--that is, a native Mandarin speaker is not going to understand someone speaking Cantonese unless they already know and are familiar with the language. The fact that Cheng Xiaoshi and Lu Guang made no mention of having difficulty understanding Ouyang Bubei when he spoke exclusively in Cantonese made me jump onto the headcanon that they both grew up with the language.
Cantonese is considered an older language than Mandarin, or at least it is closer to what classic Chinese sounded like than Mandarin, which may have Mongol/Manchurian roots. It also is said to be more difficult to learn for a non-native speaker. Mandarin has 4 tones, while Cantonese has 9. So for Cheng Xiaoshi, who hasn't been speaking it for a while, he has to mess around with 5 extra tones while trying to impersonate this native speaker. Good luck to him!

"We may have another Chinese Nobel Prize winner for physics, right here in this apartment!” said another. “Your name will go down in history like Yang Chenning–you will make China move forward, maybe even surpass our neighbors. Who knows! Perhaps we can go to space too, like the Russians and Americans.”
During the CR, education more or less came to a standstill. Depending on when and where you were born within China, your high school education would have been very much delayed, and there were certain subjects where you would have severely been lacking. After the CR was put to an end, the country realised that they were very much lagging behind in STEM compared to their competitor countries, particularly in physics, chemistry, and mathematics. So there was a period right after the CR where those subjects were emphasized and highly encouraged--the shu li hua (数理化) priority that Lu Guang mentions later. It means Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry, which China at that time considered the most important subjects for their academics to learn in order to propel China forward into progress and advancement, to catch up (and hopefully surpass) their neighboring countries.
Yang Chenning and Tsung-Dao Lee are two physicists of Chinese descent who had won Nobel Prizes for their contributions to physics in 1957. They eventually became lauded as role models for Chinese students of physics, when the sciences were more emphasized in studies. Yang had even come to China to help build science programs in the country after it had been more or less torn down during the CR.

Sun Yihan stood respectfully as Professor Lu passed him. Professor Lu gave him a small bow of the head, his eyes soft with sadness like a bruised fruit.
“Sun zi,” he said. “So the rumors are true. You really have returned to Peidi."
Sun Yihan smiled primly.
“I hope that isn’t too disappointing,” he said.
“Disappointing isn’t the word I would use,” said Professor Lu. “I am glad, but selfishly so.”
To study shu li hua was considered the best way to propel China forward, but there are some caveats to it. Studying physics alone, or studying mathematics alone, is a lot about calculations and theories. In order to use them for practicality, you need to apply things like engineering to it, which wasn't always offered (but one could pick it up along the way). Studying shu li hua was considered a way to more easily leave China and study elsewhere, for those who were ambitious and hoped for better opportunities.
Also, you will notice throughout the story that Sun Yihan (孙遗憾) will be called all sorts of names in this fic (Also, his 'Yihan' is differently written from the name of that one actor from the Link Click musical, or at least I assume so else I will feel bad for him lol). Professor Lu is calling him Sun zi, or 孙仔. The zi (仔) is like a little moniker that you call someone young, or like your kid/nephew/etc. Or even like your little pet. There's an affection to it, generally, and an indication that they are younger or smaller than you.
***
“He has much to be proud of,” Cheng Xiaoshi murmured. “He’s working with some of the first computers in the city.”
“And he used to dig clay to make bricks like the rest of us,” Sun Yihan said. “It seems that all those months spent in the countryside taught him quite little.”
So while one didn't have conventional school during the CR, there was still some kind of 'school' for the young people. That usually entailed sending them to the countryside to work one or several months with the farmers, the laborers, etc. For some people, that meant making clay bricks. You would live out in the countryside with these rural families to learn and appreciate their work, since the rural laborers were most uplifted during this time.
***
He heard shouts and chants thundering in his eardrums. A door being thrown open and heavy boots tracking monsoon mud across a floor, bookshelves thrown aside and papers strewn across a desk. Armbands tied around people’s sleeve, red with silk and blood. Streets full of bodies, some moving, some not. A hysterical scream, bubbling up his throat–
–a lonely photo studio, the neighbors’ judging whispers, children’s jeerings and pointed fingers, pain in the side of his head–
–two young girls clinging to her older sister, begging her not to risk the swim to the freedom of Hong Kong to escape oppression, before watching helplessly as she plunged into the sea–
–a little boy, sleeping soundly in his bed, and pain tearing through every inch of a woman’s body as she finally stood up to go–
I'll leave the first section alone, for now.
The third section is a reference to the freedom swimmers. When the Party took over China, those who wanted to escape to Hong Kong for freedom or to escape persecution would have had an extremely difficult time going to Hong Kong. For many of them, they would attempt to swim across the sea to reach Hong Kong, which was at the time a British colony and therefore not affected by the new regime. Many of those swimmers did not make it--drowned, or in some cases attacked by sharks--but there were some who miraculously swam and swam and made it to Hong Kong to a new life. I want to say this wave happened in the 60s or 70s.
Those are the notes for chapter 1! If you have any other questions or curiosities, feel free to ping me. Otherwise, thank you for reading and can't wait to see you for chapter 2!

Lu Guang Ex Machina for the WIN! Also 'fortunately I caught up' HOW?! Like, Lu Guang's last update was that the two got interrogated. So he left just as Cheng Xiaoshi did, a little earlier maybe, flew from the first floor, somehow commandeered a boat and got to the EXACT meeting point Cheng Xiaoshi was being kidnapped to?! It's been hinted that Lu Guang knows a little more about what is going on than most of the characters, particularly about whoever can possess people and whoever can presumably 'take' abilities, but I really can't see a way they're going to explain this sort of thing.
I've had a pet theory that Lu Guang had travelled back in time himself to change Cheng Xiaoshi's death node for a while. I think if you try to prevent someone from dying and change the future, you won't be able to return to the future you came from. Maybe you'd be stuck in the past, maybe it's just that you'd snap back, but the world would be unfamiliar in one or two ways, but changing a death node means changing everything either before or after it.
What if Lu Guang came back to save Cheng Xiaoshi? It would explain why the donghua goes out of it's way to make note of how 'mature' and 'grown up' he is, and also puts a lot of scenes in context. Like Lu Guang describing Cheng Xiaoshi as 'naive' and his protective instinct over him. Cheng Xiaoshi (and the audience) assumed that Lu Guang rejected the police case because he didn't want to interfere anymore with the case including Emma, but what if he knew that the case would escalate? Therefore he only relented when Cheng Xiaoshi had already jumped into one of the photos. Same with hiding the photo taken by Lee Tianxi.
I'm sure within the narrative there will be an explanation such that he used a photo or tracked an officer or something, but I would love a time travel story from the present, where the future is something they're escaping. Alternatively the plot would probably end up more 'Lu Guang has connections to shady criminals' and I think that's less impactful.

So, I'm going to aim to get the ball rolling, let's say October 14th. I'll start with Men's Round 1, then the following week do Women's Round 1, and so on. I will post the actual brackets a bit closer to that date.
In the meantime! If anyone would like to submit any propaganda, images, complaints, objections, or what have you, the ask box will remain open. I know last time had a pretty rocky start, but I am wise for the experience, and I think this time 'round will be even better.

Hi.....If you don't mind me asking (again), who are your favorite romantic relationship's couples in books/ manga/manhwa/ anime/movies/tv series (can be canon or non-canon)? Sorry if you've answered this question before....Thanks.
Hello again! Sorry if the reply is a little late, finals are after my soul.
This is another difficult question. Mainly what attracts me to couples is good consent, realistic speed in the relationship and a good chemistry (both romantic as well as generally good). I love romantic media and I consume quite a lot of it.
I've spent a lot of time trying to shorten it, but still, be prepared for a very very long list. In no particular order:
Neil and Andrew from All for the Game (canon, I love the emphasis on consent, def my fav)
Cheng Xiaoshi and Lu Guang from Shiguang Dailiren/Link Click (not canon)
Cui Buqu and Feng Xiao from Peerless/Wushuang (canon)
All of the Heartstopper couples (canon, i love them)
All the couples from Six of Crows (canon)
Mafuyu and Uenoyama from Given (canon)
Liam and Sherlock from Moriarty the Patriot (not canon)
Reki and Langa from Sk8 the Infinity (not canon)
Sun and Rook from Spell Bound (canon)
Gideon and Harrow from Gideon the Ninth (canon)
Xie Lian and Hua Cheng from Heaven Official's Blessing (canon)
Wei Wuxian and Lan Wanji from Mo Dao Zu Shi (canon)
Ben and Nathan from I Wish You All the Best (canon)
Woo Young Woo and Lee Joon Ho from Extraordinary Attorney Woo (canon)
Zhou Zishu and Wen Kexing from Word of Honor (canon)
Sasaki and Miyano from Sasaki and Miyano (canon)
White and Sean from Not Me (canon)
Some Other Mentions
Percy and Annabeth from Percy Jackson and the Olympians
Magnus and Alex from Magnus Chase
Alex and Henry from Red White and Royal Blue
Kim Bok Joo and Jung Joon Hyung from Weightlifting Fairy
There's a lot more I love but these are the first few that came to my mind (few, she said, as if there was less than twenty ;-;). I hope this answers your question! And have a good week!

Boredom
I originally wanted to write some lee Cheng Xiaoshi bc I was in the mood lol, but ended up making it majority lee Lu Guang. Enjoy! (Also the lack of Link Click tickle fics is just so sad! I want to see more fics of this wonderful duo!)
(Also I already posted a Link Click fic but I deleted it because I didn’t like how it turned out. I wanted to write one with more effort, thought, and time put into it.”
Warnings: None aside from tickling and probably some cursing lol
Summery: Cheng Xiaoshi is restless and it’s becoming annoying. Lu Guang has to take some extreme measures to calm him down and get him to stop.
Lu Guang swore he was going to explode.
“Lu Guang are you sure we didn’t get any new clients yet?” Cheng Xiaoshi pouted for the millionth time that day.
“I can only tell you so many times. No new clients came in yet. I’m sure we’ll get more soon, but for now we have to wait.”
“Awww…” Cheng Xiaoshi pouted once more, burying his head back into the sofa pillow, while Lu Guang returned his focus back on his book.
“Lu Guang~”
“What.”
“Lu Guaaang~”
He tried so hard to ignore. He really did. But when Cheng Xiaoshi began poking him, he knew he had to do something about this. Fortunately he knew a perfect way to calm him down.
“Alright. If you wanted my attention so bad you’ve got it now.” Lu Guang deadpanned. Quickly, while grabbing his wrists, he shoved his partner back to the sofa.
“W-wait Lu Guang lehehets tahahalk ahahbout thihis!!” Cheng Xiaoshi pleaded.
“Nope.” Was all Lu Guang had to say before digging into his sides.
“NOHOHOHO dohohohont!!!” Cheng Xiaoshi cried, bursting into laughter immediately.
“You’re being such a pain, and this is probably your only off button.”
“Dahahahang ihihihit Ihihim sohohorrehehy!!!”
Lu Guang switched between ribs and sides, scribbling fiercely. And then traveling up to his armpits which got him some good laughter.
All Cheng Xiaoshi could do was weakly push at his partners arms and laugh his head off. But it was when Lu Guang began digging into his belly that he freaked out.
“NOHOHO NOHOHOT THEHEIR WAHAHAIT!!!” He quickly grabbed the attackers wrists and forced them off him. “Plehehease!!!” He cried as Lu Guang tried pushing his hands back towards his belly. “Yohohu knohohow ihihits bahahad!!!”
“Yep.” Was all he said when he descended back onto his partners belly.
“L-luhuhuhu Guahang pleheheaHAHAHA NOHOHOHO!!!” Ching Xiaoshi immediately attempted to curl in on himself in defense.
“Do you promise to stop being annoying?”
“YEHEHEHESS!!!”
“Are you sure~?”
“LUHUHU GUAHANG!!”
Cheng Xiaoshi arms were flying wildly and ended up accidentally brushing Lu Guangs upper ribs. Lu Guang let out a shriek and recoiled back. Cheng Xiaoshi, now free, looked both surprised and amused.
“Lu Guang…”
“Cheng Xiaoshi… don’t. I’m serious. Stay away…”
An evil grin appeared on the raven heads face and he began wiggling his fingers in the air teasingly. Lu Guang got off the couch and began to run, but Cheng Xiaoshi was faster and more athletic than he was, so he managed to tackle him to the floor, straddling him.
“X-Xiaoshi, wait, don’t!” He fought with Cheng Xiaoshis hands to try and keep them away, but, Cheng Xiaoshi was a whole lot stronger than him. He ended up managing to pin his hands above his head.
“You’re ticklish also then huh? How could you not tell me! All those times I could’ve and should’ve gotten you back!”
Cheng Xiaoshi then began lightly squeezing his sides. Lu Guang flinched as he sealed his lips shut. His dignity and pride would not allow himself to succumb to such childish tactics. Cheng Xiaoshi after all was the childish one not him.
“Awww don’t keep your laughter in! You’re ruining the whole fun!”
Nope. Not going to do it. I won’t laugh. I won’t laugh…
Suddenly Cheng Xiaoshi began digging into his ribs, and the dam finally bursted.
“Nohohoho!!!”
“Ahhhh there it is!!! You have such a pretty Laugh Lu~”
“Fuuhuhuck yohohu!!!”
“How dare you!” Cheng Xiaoshi fake gasped, mocking outrage. “I would think such language was beneath you! I ought to teach you a lesson! Now where was that spot I got earlier…?“
“N-no!!! Dohohont please!!!” Lu Guangs struggling intensified as he started pulling at his wrists a lot harder.
“Haha! I’ve never seen you look so desperate before. Must be a really bad spot then huh~” Cheng Xiaoshi said with a smirk.
He began poking around his ribs experimentally, trying to figure out where that bad spot was. Suddenly his finger hit the top most rib, and Lu Guangs breathing hitched quickly. “Bingo.” was all Cheng Xiaoshi said, an evil smile appearing on his face.
As soon as he began drilling into his upper rib, Lu Guang arched his back from the sudden attack and bursted into hysterical cackles that Cheng Xiaoshi didn’t even know could’ve possibly come out of him.
“Wow this is a bad spot then. I’m not even doing much! Just drilling a little finger in…”
“WAHAHAHAIT!!!” Lu Guang cried, attempting to twist his torso away from this hand. Unfortunately he wasn’t going anywhere. The only movement he was able to make was kicking his legs wildly. This obviously didn’t help him though.
“NAHAHAHA IHI WIHIHLL KIHIHLL YOHOHOU!!!” Lu Guang shrieked through his laughter.
Cheng Xiaoshi chuckled. Deciding to let his arms go, he stuffed both fingers into each side of his top ribs, now unleashing his most brutal attack on them.
No matter how hard Lu Guang clamped his arms to his sides, it didn’t help in the least. The tickling weakened him from being able to put much strength into it.
Cheng Xiaoshi looked in awe at his silver haired friend. He’d never seen him look so hysterical before. His hands tightly gripped his wrists, his smile was wild and bright, his eyes were squeezed shut, tears beaded the corners of them. Even his usually pale face was dusted with a light red blush.
Eventually he noticed Lu Guang becoming more tired. He was so weakened from laughter he pretty much stopped struggling and just laid there to take it. Cheng Xiaoshi slowed his fingers to a stop and got off him.
Lu Guang just laid there, trying to regain his composure. His chest moved up and down fast from breathing so quickly.
Eventually he caught his breath and sat up. “You ok?” Cheng Xiaoshi asked with a slight giggle at the sight of him. “That wasn’t cool. I’m seriously going to kill you.”
“Aweee but why?? You liked it didn’t you?”
“No I didn’t. Where did you get that idea from?”
“Because the entire time I tickled you, not once did you tell me to stop.”
A silence fell between them.
“…….CHENG XIAOSHI-“
It was safe to say the rest of their afternoon consisted of more laughter, with the two going at one another. Qiao Ling later entered the shop to see quite a sight of the two. She couldn’t help smiling.

“What is this book about again?” Cheng Xiaoshi asked unamused, leaning his head on Guang’s shoulder. It was the third time he asked that question in just a couple of minutes, which was making his partner run out of patience.
“I just told you, didn’t I?” Lu Guang sighed, trying to push the other’s head away from his shoulder. “And get off, it’s hot enough without you clinging onto me.”
It was hot, indeed. It was hot enough to melt someone to a puddle outside and, even with light clothes, sticking close to one another was a pain during summer days like this one. Yet, the heat wasn’t enough to beat Cheng Xiaoshi’s needs.
“Then let’s do something elseee,” the ravenhead whined dramatically, “I don’t want to spend all day sweating inside my room and getting eaten by mosquitos!”
“Then use some repellent, it should solve the problem,” Lu Guang said, shaking his head in disapproval of the other’s scene and trying to resume his book.
“You are no fun sometimes, you know tha- ACK!!” That grunt was loud enough to make the white-haired jump in his seat, turning to Cheng Xiaoshi with a puzzled look on his face. He watched as his partner rubbed his arm, his skin slightly reddened as moved his hand away.
“...are you okay?” Lu Guang asked, still trying to figure out what happened.
“Ugh, yeah… A bug bit me,” Cheng Xiaoshi cried out softly. Without saying anything, Lu Guang sighed, closing his book and getting up. There should be some medicine to put on that bite in the bat-
“Lu Guang…”
A pair of arms wrapped around his waist, pulling him right into the ravenhead’s lap. Lu Guang sighed, looking over his shoulder.
“Let me go, we need to put some medicine on thAHahat!” A stream of giggles interrupted Lu Guagn’s words when Cheng Xiaoshi scribbled over his sides. “W-whahat- what ahare you dohOHOhing?!”
“Ahh ~~ I can’t- I can’t control myself… It must be the tickle bug’s bite, Lu Guang! ~” The ravenhead cooed, grinning as he started tickling his partner’s stomach, making him try to curl into a ball on top of his lap. Who could tell that knowing about Lu Guang’s ticklishness would come handy in such a boring afternoon?
“S-stohohop it, yoHOhou idiHIhiot, lehehet me goohoh!”
“I can’t, I’m really trying to, but I can’t,” he giggled along his friend, trying to sneak his hands inside the other’s shirt to pinch his bare sides, “we will have to wait for the bite’s effects to wear out ~”
“NOHohoh! AHahahah!! ~”
