Ledaleane Smith, an indentured servant, ideally should have approached more humbly as Amalie had both done and advised, but she was a sharp-tongued woman with buckets of pride and instead smiled confidently while laying out her wish to open a pottery shop selling her wares. This would put her in competition with the Gregg family... but Arndt thinks that might be a good thing!
