tbh if i wasnt having so much fun with it i'd be kind of annoyed by how closely revallen's story parallels solas'
#they walk mirrored paths#hey thatd be a good prompt. reflections of the past & present#the journey from child/spirit to leader of your people#abandoning the mantle of leadership in grief but being swept up in an even larger scale conflict that forces the mantle back upon you#leading based on reputation and legend - doing what you feel must be done for the greater good on a scale that others rarely see#leaving your organization AGAIN - for the good of the People - to prepare them for the coming chaos#if he was immortal revallen would have made the exact same choices that solas did

December | Tokyo, Japan | Wednesday
You should have worn more lotion.
The unkind cold and threatening winds made your trek to work excruciatingly more difficult. Surely you made it, but had to get blind by the flurries of snow in the process. You take your time in the lobby, stomping aggressively down at the weather mats to remove all the snow and ice from your boots. You shake yourself like a wet dog to get the snow off your coat, too. The lobby men chuckle at you, and you couldn’t help but smile.
It’s been rough to do so, after all. Considering you got rejected twice by the same man, you needed all the serotonin you could get. You spent hours crying, which only halted when you finally passed out. The heartbreak exhausted you, given how dark your eyes were, and how hollow your chest has felt since then. The worst part about all of it is that despite everything, you still had Nanami’s coffee in mind.
It floated in your mind to go to the cafe and get him a cup. But you have to remember that he has other assistants who know his coffee order now. You were now one of few who knew it.
To have your relationship seen as just boss/assistant by the other participant felt like punishment. A large sigh left your lips when you exited the elevator on your floor. Shivers tickled your body as you begrudgingly walked over to your desk. It was warm in the office, enough for you to take solace in.
You begin to turn on your computer and prepare your desk, before being interrupted by two hands slamming down your desk. You look up to find a panting (and exhausted) Haibara. “Yu?” You whisper worriedly. “Is everything okay?”
“He lost the flashdrive,” Haibara lets out. “The presentation… it’s missing.”
Your eyes widen, “Nanami? But… how?” Of all people, Nanami was never one to lack in anything, especially in organization. He was always sharp and aware of where all his things were. You never had to concern yourself with assignments getting lost because Nanami is too diligent.
“We– we um, drank last night…?” Haibara reluctantly confesses. “We both got home quite late… he might not have his whole head on.”
Without another word, you swiftly leave your desk and rush over to Nanami’s office, with Haibara following closely behind. On your way towards his office, you see all of Takada’s assistants outside of his office, their expressions full of concern. You make your way through them and knock on his door gently.
“What?” Nanami’s annoyed tone rang through the door.
“It’s Y/N,” you reply, ignoring his attitude.
Quick shifting was sound behind the door before the doorknob began to turn. The door opens to reveal a disheveled Nanami. Despite his usually refined features, his unkempt hair and unbutton shirt was quite distracting. The shadows line his collarbone and the darkness under his eyes add to the intensity in his struggling, hazel eyes. He leaned against the door frame, his eyes slightly lighting up from your presence. There was some sort of relief in his eyes, but it was still drowned out by anxiety.
“Please, please tell me you have a copy?” Nanami practically begs.
You feel a lump in your throat from seeing his desperation. Not even you can be dismissive to his plea. “I–I was instructed not to keep an extra copy. It’s confidential, so I didn’t…”
Nanami let out a quiet ‘fuck,’ retreating slowly back towards his desk. “Don’t worry, I’m not upset with you. I’m upset with myself because you’re right and I’m simply irresponsible…” He leans back against his desk, defeatedly holding himself up with his hands firmly down on the desk behind him. He looks distantly to the floor, a sight you never thought you’d ever see.
The confident, sharp Nanami was now at his wits’ end.
“Do you remember when you last had it?” You ask quietly.
“I had it in my coat pocket on my way here,” he recalls quietly, “I still had it when I got off the train, so it must be outside around the area.”
“But with all that snow…” Haibara begins, the defeat clearly on his tongue.
You let out a sigh, emitting a calm apology before dismissing yourself. Once you were out of sight, you ran towards the elevator, practically beating the button until it arrived to you. You impatiently wait as you descend, your body already feeling the cold from outside. Even maintenance couldn’t believe their eyes as they watched you run out from the lobby, and into the harsh weather.
It was a bit embarrassing for you. You were always there to fix Nanami’s scarce mistakes, or prevent them. Even after he broke your heart twice, here you are, outside in the freezing cold, without any garments to protect you from it. You could feel your body beginning to go numb from the seconds you were outside.
Your exposed legs were inches deep in the snow, your frigid hands sifting desperately through the snow. Why? You asked yourself. Why, why, why? You were freezing, the weather was harsh, and this flash drive is as small as a roach. Why were you doing all of this?
As you shoveled through the snow, you were finally able to feel how you were feeling after facing Nanami again. You were able to keep yourself from crying, but you wanted to cry profusely. Your boss, your crush, was stressed out over a mistake he made, and it didn’t even make you feel better. Unfortunately, your feelings were too weaved into his, and you felt the stress he is feeling.
It bothered you to see him stressed. So much so, your body moved on its own and now it was in the cold, looking for the solution to Nanami’s problem. You didn’t even stay idle for a moment while in his office. Perhaps, the reason why you were helping him was because since you met Nanami, he has always been someone to work for his team.
But you know for sure part of it was that you never want to see him like that again.
Taking on projects on his own to keep his other colleagues working in low piles. Working with clients he personally isn’t a fan of to make sure the company grows. Providing breakfast and lunch when important meetings arise to make sure everyone at least eats well before torturous work. He was strict, but never a mean person. And to that end might explain why you still felt the way you did.
However,
Your respect for him goes above your feelings. A hard piece of plastic was barely felt between your fingers, but they were able to hold onto it firmly. The small flash drive, covered in a bit of snow, still glowed green when you pushed up to reveal the USB. You promptly make your way back in, the warmth barely penetrating the cold you developed while being outside.
I’m gonna get sick, you thought to yourself. As you passed through the lobby, you noticed Nanami’s clients getting checked in at the lobby. You hurry to the elevator, pushing aggressively at the close button so they didn’t have a chance to get there at the same time you did. You move your legs in place, attempting to regain some warmth. While you ascended, you purposely pushed the buttons of the floors you passed to delay their arrival. Finally reaching your level, you rush out to go to the other free elevator. As you did, you were met with a concerned Haibara.
“H-hey!” Haibara calls to you, but you ignore him and shove the flash drive into his hand. But as you did, he noticed that you were frozen and kept his hands around yours. “You… found it? Did you go outside? Without a coat? Y/N, you’re freezing!”
Oh, how you wished you fell for Haibara instead. You pull away your hand, quickly entering the other elevator and slamming your hands on the buttons. You look up at Haibara, your bottom lip blue and quivering. “Take it to Nanami,” you say roughly, your voice hoarse from the little warmth in your body. “Your clients. They’re downstairs. Hurry up.”
Haibara holds onto your arms, noticing that you could barely keep yourself up, “yeah, fuck the clients. You look like you’re going to pass out.”
“Please,” you look up at him desperately, tears welling in your eyes. It was already enough that you felt stupid for even looking for the flashdrive in this state. But even Haibara couldn’t push away the hurt and stress in your own eyes. “I’ll be fine… please help Nanami finish this.”
“Let me at least walk you to your desk–”
“I got her!” You both look over to see Tae run over, his apron dancing left and right from not being properly tied in the back. He quickly takes hold of you, looking up at Haibara to give him a curt nod in replacement of a proper bow. “Resume your work, Haibara-sama. I can tend to her.”
Tae held you close enough that you could feel his warmth. It was intoxicating almost, the solace of his heat and the scent of pine needles emanating from his body. The fresh scent of linen coming from his black sweatshirt made you feel a little nostalgic but uneasy. You could still feel the cold taking you over, your entire body shivering. His hands firmly held you without squeezing you tightly.
Haibara looks down skeptically, but you wave at him. “Please go,” you croak, coughs finally leaving your throat. “I’ll be fine.” You could see that you didn’t quite persuade him, but for the sake of Nanami, he nodded.
He eyes Tae, a rare serious aura surrounding him, “get her to a doctor if she needs it. I’ll be back as soon as the presentation ends. Please make her something hot, like hot cocoa or soup.” Tae nods, allowing Haibara to run back towards Nanami, who was probably drowning in his own anxiety.
“‘m sorry to inconvenience you like this, Tae,” you whisper, your body still shaking and twitching from the cold. “But thank you for that.”
“No worries, please don’t exert yourself,” Tae softly warns. He tightens his hold on you before slowly walking you over to the cafe. Though you didn’t have enough trust to close your eyes, you did have enough to hold his sweater, confident that he won’t let you fall. “Let me help you. After all, you helped me first. Come, the cafe is just around the corner.”
The relief on Nanami’s face was truly meant to be displayed in a museum.
He held onto the flashdrive tightly, mentally scolding himself from ever dropping it in the first place. He forces it into the projector, and everything was set up for the clients to come in moments. He noticed that the flash drive was not only still cold, but slightly wet. “Was it outside in the snow?”
Haibara nods as he fixes up the conference table a bit. It was ornate with drinks, snacks, and notetaking items for their clients to use and enjoy. “The snow is really growing by the inch out there. This winter is brutal.”
“It truly is unkind out there,” Nanami sighs, his eyes looking through the window. “I hope you grabbed your coat before going out there.”
Haibara shakes his head, “it wasn’t me who found the flashdrive; it was Y/N. I caught her at the elevator, and she was the one who handed it to me.”
Nanami slightly perks up at your name, “did she really?”
“She left straight from your office to go find it,” Haibara says quietly, “but she didn’t even bring a sweater. She was completely frozen when I saw her.”
This left a pit in Nanami’s stomach. “Why did she not bring a coat? She’s more rational than that.”
Haibara lets out a sigh, “who’s to say, Kento. Y/N works very hard to do right by you and this company. I think she’d do whatever it takes in order to make sure you and this department shines.”
“Disregarding her health is not why she’s here,” Nanami huffs strictly. “Where is she?”
“I left her with the barista you hired,” Haibara informs, “my guess is he took her to the cafe to warm her up.”
Nanami’s eyes cut over to Haibara, burning through his soul. Despite this, Haibara still didn’t see his eyes. “You left her with a stranger?”
“A stranger you hired,” Haibara clarifies. “Anyways, Y/N insisted I come help you. I’d probably make her feel worse if I didn’t.”
There was a rare annoyance that Nanami never felt. You were always conscious of yourself, and others. Nanami always noticed when you would help someone with a large pile of papers, or when you applied bandages to blisters due to your heels. But more times than not, you never shied away from a challenge, and never hesitated to help someone whether they asked or not.
But now you were far from him, and he couldn’t do anything to help you. He had this stupid presentation to do, rather than be by your side and tend to you. After all, you truly were the reason behind his success. The reason for his reduced stress, and a direct asset to his department. You did so much for him, only to be given a shred of that effort. He was feeling guilty, not only for being unaware of his feelings towards you, but the immense disregard he had for your own feelings and effort in this company.
You were his dear assistant, and he was breaking you.
“I’ll be back,” Nanami hums, rushing out of the conference room. Haibara looks back and follows right behind him, surprised by his sudden dash.
Nanami, the meeting!” Haibara calls out to him, “you can’t do this right now!”
His response was silence as he reached the corner towards the cafe. As he appears in the opening, his hazel eyes relentlessly looked for you. But when he stumbled upon you, his concern and annoyance skyrocketed.
You were lying on one of the couches at the cafe, surrounded by a few of the baristas there. They all comforted you, as you lay under a few blankets. But Nanami noticed that below all of that, you were covered by a large, black crewneck. On your head, a beanie as well. And sat on a stool right in front of you with a hot coffee cup was Tae, the barista he hired. Nanami noticed the warmth in his eyes when he looked down at you, with a free hand out to you. Your boss felt a lump in his throat when he saw you take his hand, helping you sit up to take the cup from him. Tae kept his hand on the bottom of the cup while you sipped it cautiously.
His chest felt like someone was pushing it down, his breath was limited. His heart, at the same time, was punching against it as well, almost as if it was going through a two-front war. He looks down at his hands, adjusting the sleeves at both of his wrists. He needed to reach you– sooner rather than later. And now looked like the perfect opportunity.
But before he could take another step, the elevator behind him opened, and the entourage of clients he was expecting stood before him, all smiles. Haibara catches up and pats Nanami’s back, forcing him to turn around as they both curtly bow in greeting. A vein protruded Nanami’s temple, and Haibara looked back to see what he was looking at.
What he saw made him crack a small smile, his energy returning to him as he led the clients and an annoyed Nanami towards the conference room.

Right Time | K.Mg
Pairing: Mingyu x Reader
Genre: Angst, exes au
Summary: you both were too young when you get together, right person-wrong time. Two years after break up, destiny brought you two again.
Author note: i'm sorry, you've asked for fluff but i serve you angst :(
Mingyu stood beside Seungcheol, both of them watching Jeonghan, who was all smiles an hour before his wedding vows, as he greeted the guests who had come to celebrate his special day. Mingyu sighed, thinking that the day had finally come. Jeonghan had been under immense stress these past months, preparing for his wedding. He had been going through food tastings, making decoration decisions, getting suit fittings, and juggling his very busy job to earn enough money to give his future wife her dream wedding. Mingyu was tired of being his friend and unofficial personal punching bag.
Just then, Mingyu's eyes shifted to a three-year-old girl running toward them, and his smile immediately grew wider. Seungcheol picked up his daughter, giving her all his attention while her mother, Seungcheol's wife, was busy with her bridesmaid duties as the sister of the bride.
The little girl giggled in her father's arms, her joy infectious. "Daddy, look! Flowers!" she exclaimed, pointing at the floral arrangements that adorned the venue.
Mingyu chuckled, feeling a sense of warmth wash over him. Despite the chaos and the stress, moments like these made it all worth it. He glanced at Seungcheol, who was whispering something to his daughter that made her laugh even harder. Mingyu couldn't help but feel a pang of envy mixed with happiness for his friend.
"She's a bundle of energy, isn't she?" Mingyu remarked, smiling at the scene.
Seungcheol nodded, his eyes twinkling with pride. "She definitely keeps us on our toes."
As they stood there, watching the guests mingle and Jeonghan's nervous excitement, Mingyu realized that despite all the stress and exhaustion, witnessing his friend's happiness was something truly special. Today was a day for celebration, a day to cherish, and a day that marked the beginning of a beautiful journey for Jeonghan and his future wife.
Flowers hung elegantly, their sweet fragrance blending with the smell of freshly baked goods and sumptuous food. The lively chatter of people filled the air, a symphony of joyous voices. All of these scenes were too familiar to Mingyu. He sighed, the memories flooding back, reminding him of his first meeting with you at Seungcheol's wedding.
You were Seungcheol's wife's cousin and one of the bridesmaids, while he was one of the groomsmen. Mingyu vividly remembered watching you during the wedding preparations. He saw you running around, talking, and dealing with the organizer to ensure everything ran smoothly while the bride and groom enjoyed their final moments of calm before entering a new stage of life.
Your first interaction was unforgettable. Mingyu had saved you from a potential disaster when you almost tripped over a cable and fell into the dessert section. He immediately grabbed your arm, pulling you to safety, your body colliding with his.
"You good?" Mingyu asked, noticing the color drain from your face.
A heavy breath escaped your mouth. "I almost got myself in trouble," you mumbled, trying to steady yourself while your heart still pounded rapidly.
"Thanks... Mingyu, right?"
Mingyu nodded, giving you a reassuring smile. "Do you need help?" he asked, noticing how rushed you were earlier.
"Oh shoot! I need to go," you exclaimed, holding a key.
'You want to leave now?' he thought.
"The second dress was left at the hotel. They have to change in an hour," you explained after Mingyu inquired about your urgency.
Mingyu's eyes widened as panic surged through him. "Let me drive you there," he offered. You nodded, handing him the key, and the two of you sprinted to the car.
Just as you were about to leave, you received a call. It turned out your mother had already brought the dress, and it was in her car. The rush of adrenaline subsided, and both of you couldn't help but laugh at the chaos.
"Guess we didn't need to be superheroes today," Mingyu joked, relieved.
"Yeah, but thank you," you said, a warm smile spreading across your face. "I really appreciate your help."
After that day, the two of you kept in touch. Mingyu eventually confessed that he had a crush on you and asked you out on a date, which you gladly accepted. Months later, you were officially dating. Seungcheol and his wife were thrilled, knowing they had played a part in bringing you together. However, they were equally flustered when, three years later, Seungcheol was informed that you and Mingyu had broken up.
Three years of dating, and it's now been two years since you separated. Despite the passage of time, not a single minute went by without Mingyu thinking of you.
As he stood there, watching Jeonghan’s wedding preparations, the memories of your relationship played in his mind like a film. He remembered the laughter, the shared dreams, and even the arguments that made the bond stronger. You were his best friend, his confidant, and losing you felt like losing a part of himself.
Mingyu sighed, the weight of nostalgia heavy on his heart. The sight of the beautifully decorated venue, the smell of flowers, and the sound of joyous chatter brought everything back in vivid detail. He couldn't help but wonder what you were doing now, if you were happy, and if you ever thought about him too.
He glanced at Seungcheol, who was busy with his daughter, and thought about the twists and turns life takes. Love is unpredictable, he mused. One moment you're on top of the world, and the next, you're struggling to find your footing.
Despite the bittersweet memories, Mingyu felt a glimmer of hope. Today was a day of celebration, a reminder that love, in all its forms, is worth cherishing. As Jeonghan prepared to embark on his own journey of love, Mingyu silently wished for a future where he might find happiness again, perhaps even with you.
*
As Mingyu stood lost in his thoughts, he suddenly caught sight of you entering the venue. His heart skipped a beat, and he blinked several times, thinking he might be daydreaming. But you were really there, looking breathtaking in a beautiful dress that perfectly complemented your skin tone. Your hair was longer than he remembered, cascading gracefully down your back, and the sight of you took his breath away.
For a moment, everything else faded into the background. The smell of flowers, the chatter of the guests, the sight of Jeonghan greeting everyone—all of it became a blur as Mingyu's focus zeroed in on you. His heart pounded in his chest, beating the same way it did the first time he saw you.
He couldn't tear his eyes away. Every step you took seemed to bring back a flood of memories: your first date, the countless laughs, the shared moments of vulnerability, and even the quiet, content times you spent together doing nothing at all. Mingyu's pulse quickened as he watched you smile and greet the other guests, looking as radiant as ever.
Suddenly, Seungcheol noticed the shift in Mingyu’s demeanor. Following his friend's gaze, Seungcheol’s eyes landed on you, and he gave Mingyu a knowing smile. "Go talk to her," Seungcheol encouraged softly, nudging him forward.
Mingyu hesitated for a second, a mix of anxiety and excitement swirling inside him. Taking a deep breath, he began to make his way through the crowd toward you. Each step felt like an eternity, but eventually, he stood before you.
You looked up, and your eyes met his. For a brief moment, everything else disappeared, and it was just the two of you. The surprise in your eyes mirrored his own, and a small, nostalgic smile played on your lips.
"Hi," Mingyu said, his voice barely above a whisper, his emotions threatening to spill over.
"Hi," you replied, your voice soft yet filled with a warmth that made his heart ache.
For a moment, neither of you spoke, simply taking in the sight of each other after so long. Then, Mingyu found his voice again. "You look... amazing. More beautiful than ever."
A blush crept up your cheeks, and you looked down for a moment before meeting his gaze again. "Thank you, Mingyu. It's been a while."
"Yeah, it has," he said, struggling to keep his emotions in check.
Mingyu opened his mouth to say more, but the words seemed to get stuck in his throat. His nervousness intensified, making him momentarily forget how to speak. You offered him a gentle, understanding smile, perhaps sensing his hesitation.
"I should go greet the bride," you said softly, giving his arm a reassuring squeeze. "We'll catch up later, okay?"
Mingyu nodded, unable to trust his voice, and watched as you gracefully walked away toward the bride. His heart sank a little, disappointment mixing with his nerves. He had so much he wanted to say, but the opportunity had slipped through his fingers.
Seungcheol, who had been observing the interaction from a distance, walked up to Mingyu with a knowing look. "You alright, buddy?" he asked, clapping a hand on Mingyu's shoulder.
Mingyu let out a heavy sigh, running a hand through his hair. "I froze, Seungcheol. I couldn’t say anything meaningful."
Seungcheol chuckled softly. "It's understandable. It's been a long time, and seeing her again can stir up a lot of emotions."
Mingyu nodded, his eyes still following you as you chatted with the bride and other bridesmaids. "I just... I didn't expect to feel this way. It's like no time has passed at all, and I still... I still care about her so much."
Seungcheol gave him a sympathetic smile. "Feelings like that don’t just disappear. But hey, you have the whole day ahead. There will be plenty of opportunities to talk to her. Maybe start with something simple, like asking her to dance."
Mingyu glanced at Seungcheol, a hint of hope in his eyes. "You think so?"
Seungcheol nodded confidently. "Absolutely. Just be yourself, Mingyu. You two had something special, and who knows? Maybe today is a chance to rekindle that."
Taking a deep breath, Mingyu tried to calm his racing heart. "Thanks, Seungcheol. I’ll give it a shot."
As the ceremony drew closer, Mingyu resolved to find the right moment to talk to you again. He couldn't let fear hold him back. Today was about new beginnings, and perhaps, it could be the start of something beautiful for both of you.
*
After the wedding vows, it was time for the group photos. Mingyu positioned himself not too far from the newlyweds, while you stood directly in front of him. The familiar scent of your perfume and your hair, the same fragrance you always wore when you were together, wafted toward him, triggering a flood of memories.
As the photographer arranged everyone into position, you brushed your hair back, and that's when Mingyu noticed it—a ring wrapped around your left finger. His heart sank, and a wave of conflicting emotions washed over him. You’re engaged? he wondered, his mind racing.
A mix of shock, sadness, and confusion gripped him. Part of him had held onto the hope that, despite the time and distance, there might still be a chance for the two of you to rekindle what you once had. But now, seeing that ring, reality hit him hard.
He tried to keep his composure, but his mind was in turmoil. He remembered all the moments you shared, the dreams you talked about, the future you once envisioned together. The thought of you being engaged to someone else was like a punch to the gut.
Mingyu forced a smile for the camera, but inside, he felt as if the ground had been pulled out from under him. He glanced at you, wondering if you were truly happy and if the person who had given you that ring knew just how special you were. Did they know your little quirks, your favorite things, and the way your eyes lit up when you talked about something you loved?
The photographer called for everyone to get closer, and Mingyu found himself standing right behind you. The scent of your perfume was almost overwhelming now, and he struggled to focus on anything else. He took a deep breath, trying to steady his racing heart.
As the flash went off, Mingyu realized he had to accept the situation. He had no right to feel jealous or upset. You had moved on, found happiness with someone else, and that was something he needed to respect. But the realization didn't make the pain any less.
After the photos were taken, Mingyu stepped aside, feeling a profound sense of loss. He had to come to terms with the fact that you were no longer his and that your paths had diverged. But as he watched you laugh and talk with the other guests, he couldn't help but hope that whoever had given you that ring cherished you as much as he did.
As Mingyu stepped aside after the photos, a deep sense of regret washed over him, intensifying with each passing moment. The sight of the ring on your finger brought back the memory of the night you asked to separate. He had replayed that scene countless times in his mind, wishing he had done things differently.
He remembered how you had looked at him, your eyes filled with a mix of sadness and determination. "Mingyu, I think we need to take a break," you had said, your voice trembling slightly. At the time, he had been too caught up in his own confusion and frustration to truly understand the depth of your feelings.
Instead of staying and talking things through, he had walked away, convinced that space would be the best solution. He thought that maybe, with time, things would work themselves out. But as the days turned into weeks and then months, the distance between you only grew, and before he knew it, you were gone from his life.
Now, standing at Jeonghan's wedding, the weight of his decision felt heavier than ever. He regretted leaving that night, regretted not fighting harder for what you had. He should have listened, should have stayed to understand the fears and doubts you were experiencing. Instead, he had let his pride and stubbornness drive a wedge between you.
Mingyu's eyes followed you as you mingled with the other guests, your laughter ringing out, a bittersweet sound to his ears. You seemed happy, and that was what he wanted for you, even if it wasn't with him. But the regret gnawed at him, a constant reminder of what he had lost.
As the evening progressed, Mingyu found himself lost in thought, barely aware of the festivities around him. Seungcheol, noticing his friend's distant expression, approached him once more.
"You okay?" Seungcheol asked gently, his concern evident.
Mingyu sighed, running a hand through his hair. "I just... I keep thinking about the night we broke up. I should have stayed, Seungcheol. I should have fought for her."
Seungcheol nodded, understanding the pain in Mingyu's voice. "We all make mistakes, Mingyu. What's important is what you do now. Maybe it's time to let go of the past and focus on the present. Who knows? Maybe there's still a chance for you to find closure, if not with her, then within yourself."
Mingyu pondered Seungcheol's words, knowing there was truth in them. He couldn't change the past, but he could learn from it. And maybe, just maybe, he could find a way to move forward.
As the night went on, Mingyu made a silent promise to himself. He would try to find peace with his regrets and open his heart to whatever the future might hold. And as he watched you, now engaged and seemingly content, he wished you nothing but happiness, even if it meant letting go of the dreams he once had for the two of you.
*
The little things had snowballed into something that finally hit you that night. You were exhausted from work, your phone buzzing incessantly with texts from Mingyu. Just as you managed to lay yourself on the couch, the door suddenly burst open, revealing Mingyu looking restless and breathless.
"Where have you been?! I've been trying to reach you all day," he demanded, his voice tinged with frustration and worry.
You sighed deeply, turning your back to him, too drained to respond. Mingyu let out a humorless chuckle, stepping closer. He grabbed your shoulder and turned you around, not realizing his strength might hurt you, and shoved his phone in your face, displaying your unread chat messages from the past week.
"You haven't read my texts for almost a week, Y/N. Don't you know I'm worried?!"
You felt the sting of his grip, but more than that, the sting of the situation settled heavily in your chest. You placed your hand on the sore spot, rising from the couch with what little energy you had left, trying to walk away to the bedroom without a word.
"Now you think I'm invisible? What the fuck, Y/N?" Mingyu's voice rose, a mix of anger and hurt.
Tears welled up in your eyes, a combination of physical pain, exhaustion, and emotional turmoil. You turned to face Mingyu, your voice barely above a whisper. "I'm just so tired, Mingyu. Tired of everything."
He stood there, watching you closely, his initial anger fading as he saw the tears streaming down your face. "Why didn't you just tell me?" His tone softened now, filled with concern.
You shook your head, feeling overwhelmed by the weight of everything. "I didn't want to burden you. You've got your own things to deal with."
Mingyu's expression softened further, but a flicker of hurt crossed his features. "We're supposed to share the burdens, remember? That's what being together means."
You looked into his eyes, searching for the reassurance you desperately needed. "I know," you admitted softly, "but it feels like we've been drifting apart. And tonight, I just... I couldn't handle it."
Mingyu's concern turned into frustration, his voice rising slightly. "So you decided to handle it all on your own? Do you know how that makes me feel, Y/N?"
You flinched at the edge in his voice, feeling the weight of his disappointment. "Mingyu, I didn't mean..."
"No," he interrupted, his tone sharp. "You didn't mean to shut me out when I've been trying so hard to be there for you?"
You bit your lip, tears now flowing freely. "I... I didn't know how to ask for help. I thought I could handle it."
"And now look where we are," Mingyu said bitterly, running a hand through his hair. "You're drowning in silence, and I'm left feeling useless."
"I'm sorry," you whispered, your voice breaking. "I didn't realize..."
Mingyu closed his eyes briefly, taking a deep breath to calm himself. When he opened them again, his gaze softened, but the hurt was still evident. "I love you, Y/N," he said quietly. "But I can't keep fighting for a place in your life if you won't let me in."
You reached out to him, wanting to bridge the distance between you. "Mingyu, please..."
He stepped back, shaking his head. "I need time to figure things out, Y/N. I can't do this if you're pushing me away."
You felt a hollow ache in your chest as Mingyu's words hung in the air. The idea of losing him was unbearable, but you couldn't shake the feeling that you were dragging him down, that you were undeserving of his love and patience. Summoning what little strength you had left, you took a shaky breath and spoke the words that felt like shards of glass in your throat.
"Mingyu," you began, your voice trembling, "maybe it's best if we... if we take a break."
His eyes widened in shock, the hurt in them deepening. "What? No, Y/N, that's not what I want."
You shook your head, tears still streaming down your face. "I can't keep hurting you like this. You deserve someone who can let you in, someone who can be there for you the way you are for me. And right now, I just... I can't."
"I need to figure things out on my own. I need to learn how to be okay with myself before I can be with you."
He looked at you for a long moment, searching for any sign that you might change your mind. When he found none, he nodded slowly, his eyes glistening with unshed tears. "If that's what you really want..."
"It's not what I want," you said, your voice barely audible. "But it's what I think is best for both of us."
With one last, lingering look, Mingyu turned and walked away, each step feeling like a knife to your heart. You watched him go, knowing that you were making the hardest decision of your life, hoping that someday, you could find your way back to each other.
As the door closed behind him, you sank to the floor, overcome with grief and loneliness. The silence of the room was deafening, but you knew that this was the first step towards healing, for both you and Mingyu.
As the door clicked shut behind Mingyu, a wave of emptiness washed over you, mingled with an unsettling sense of disappointment. You had expected him to protest more, to fight harder to stay. Instead, he had walked away, leaving you to grapple with the decision alone.
You sat there, staring at the door, your thoughts swirling in a chaotic whirlpool. The weight of his absence pressed down on you, making it hard to breathe. Was this really what you wanted? Or had you hoped, deep down, that he would refuse to leave, that he would insist on staying and helping you through this?
The room felt colder, the silence oppressive. Your mind replayed the conversation, analyzing every word, every gesture. Had he given up too easily? Or was it your fault for pushing him away in the first place?
As you sat there, the silence of the room pressed down on you like a suffocating blanket. The ache in your chest grew with each passing second. Your thoughts spiraled deeper into despair, and a new, more insidious fear began to take root.
Maybe Mingyu had had enough of you. Maybe he was already tired of dealing with your endless complications and emotional turmoil. Maybe he, like everyone else, had decided you weren't worth the fight.
Your mind flashed back to countless moments in your past, memories you had tried so hard to bury. You remembered the times when your emotions had been dismissed, your thoughts invalidated. When you had tried to reach out, only to be met with indifference or impatience.
Your parents, who had always told you to toughen up, to stop being so sensitive. Friends who had drifted away because your struggles were too much for them to handle. Teachers who had dismissed your anxiety as laziness, your depression as a phase. You had learned, painfully and slowly, that you had to figure things out on your own because no one else would.
And now Mingyu had done the same. The last person you had hoped would stick by you had walked away. You had pushed him, yes, but you had also hoped, deep down, that he would push back. That he would prove he was different. But he hadn't.
Tears welled up in your eyes again, and you let them fall, each one a testament to the weight of your pain. It felt like you were falling into an abyss, a dark void where every painful memory and fear resurfaced.
You recalled a particularly vivid memory from your childhood. You were eight years old, sitting on the steps of your house, crying because the neighborhood kids had teased you for being different. Your mother had found you there, her expression a mixture of exasperation and disappointment.
"Why are you crying again?" she had asked, her tone sharp. "You need to learn to handle things on your own. The world isn't going to coddle you."
That had been the first of many lessons in self-reliance, each one more painful than the last. You had learned to hide your pain, to smile when you were breaking inside, to carry burdens that felt too heavy to bear.
And now, sitting alone in the silence of your apartment, you realized that those lessons had led you to this moment. You had pushed Mingyu away, convinced that you had to handle everything on your own, that you were too much for anyone else to handle. And he had walked away, just like everyone else.
The weight of your loneliness was crushing. You curled up on the floor, hugging your knees to your chest, and let the sobs wrack your body. It felt like your heart was breaking into a million pieces, each one sharper than the last.
You stayed there for what felt like hours, lost in the whirlwind of your thoughts and memories. Eventually, the tears slowed, and a cold numbness settled in. You knew you had to pick yourself up, to move forward somehow. But the path ahead felt more daunting than ever.
Maybe you were destined to be alone, to carry your burdens without help. Maybe you were too complicated, too difficult for anyone to truly love. And maybe, just maybe, the one person you had thought would fight for you had finally realized it too.
With a heavy heart, you forced yourself to stand, wiping away the remnants of your tears. You knew you had to find a way to heal, to navigate this pain. But for now, all you could do was take one small step at a time, hoping that someday, you might find the strength to believe in love again.
*
Seungcheol entered the car as soon as his daughter was settled in the backseat. He threw one last glance through the rearview mirror and smiled at the sight of her slumbering after spending all of her energy today. Her peaceful face was a welcome relief from the emotional turmoil of the evening.
"Are we gonna let him be like that?" Nari's voice broke the silence, and Seungcheol could sense she was referring to Mingyu.
He turned on the engine and hummed thoughtfully, "It's the best for him right now."
Nari stared at Seungcheol with a worried look, her concern evident. "But Y/N is not engaged. It's just a ring," she said, finally voicing the worry she'd been holding since the venue at Jeonghan's wedding.
"That's exactly why this is best for him," Seungcheol replied. "He couldn't even confront her and ask about the ring. He just stood there, trapped in his own thoughts, just like what happened two years ago."
Images of you and Mingyu after the breakup flashed through his mind. Mingyu, lost in his own assumptions, believing you didn't want him anymore. You, burdened by your unfinished past and struggling to heal.
"Y/N is different now, though," Nari insisted softly. "She's healed. Maybe there's a chance for them."
Seungcheol glanced at his wife and chuckled softly. "And what about Mingyu? Boys never learn, babe. It takes a man to confront a woman."
Nari sighed deeply, her eyes reflecting a mix of hope and sadness. "I just thought they were 'the right people at the wrong time.'"
Seungcheol grabbed his wife's hand and pecked it gently. "There is no 'right time,' babe. People make the time right. Mingyu couldn't do that. He might look perfect on the outside, but he's still a human with his own flaws."
Nari looked out the window, her thoughts seemingly far away. "Do you think they'll ever get another chance?"
Seungcheol was quiet for a moment, considering her question. "Maybe. Life has a way of bringing people back together when the time is right. But for now, they need to work on themselves. Y/N has come a long way, and Mingyu needs to catch up."
"But," Seungcheol continued, his voice filled with a mixture of hope and realism, "if they are truly meant to be, they'll find their way back to each other. And if not, they'll still be stronger and better for having known each other."
Nari squeezed his hand gently, her eyes softening. "I hope so. They both deserve happiness."
Seungcheol smiled at her, appreciating her empathy. "They do. And they'll find it, one way or another. We just have to give them time and trust that they'll make the right choices."
As they drove away from the venue, the city lights gradually fading into the distance, Seungcheol felt a sense of peace settle over him. He hoped that Mingyu and you would find the courage to face your fears and the strength to build the lives you deserved. For now, all he could do was support his friend and trust that everything would unfold as it should.

[2:00 pm. 10 hours to 12.]
“Y/N! There you are, I’ve been looking for you.”
Now that’s a voice you don’t hear everyday. You take a deep breath in preparation for his bullshit and swivel on your heels. Crowley seems happy as he waves his cane and the thick tome in his other hand, decorated with jewels and black velvet. “I have excellent news!” he exclaims, and you ready yourself for yet another task to fulfill in his name, “I’ve found a way to send you home!”
…That was not what you expected him to say.
There’s happiness, of course. You miss your parents, your family. You almost miss normalcy. There’s a little bit of relief, as if your soul itself is sighing that finally, you could go home. But more evident than all of those feelings is your heart falling to your stomach—so heavily weighing you down with such little words. Because as much as you miss your family, you have family here too, right? You belong here as much as you belonged in your old world.
But it’s not like you can choose to stay.
This isn’t the place you’re supposed to be, even if it feels right.
You’re weak, and you’re magicless, and you stir up so much trouble and danger on a daily basis unlike you’ve ever known. But earth is all you’ve ever known. Crowley waves the book again, right in front of your face, as if to pull you back down to reality. “I’ll set the coordinates in the Dark Mirror. At exactly 12 am tonight, the portal will open, but until then,” his smile widens, “my benevolent and kind self will allow you to say goodbye to your friends. Just remember to be there at 12, okay? It’s very difficult—almost impossible—to open a second portal, so don’t miss this chance.”
Right. Don’t miss it.
You’ll say goodbye. And maybe, leave your boyfriend and Grim for last.
[2:30 pm. 9 hours 30 minutes to 12]
Heartslabyul always smells like roses and baked goods. You hate to interrupt the gathering, but you wave to your friends with a small smile on your face. Even if you’re devastated, you need to seem happy. Because it’s right to smile. Because it’s right to be excited to go home.
“I’m leaving.”
Ace and Deuce seem confused, questioning you about it, Cater’s eyes are wide with surprise as he drops his fork back onto his plate with a loud clatter. Trey is quiet. But Riddle looks like he immediately understood what you meant, an expression of hurt on his face.
“Where are you going?” Deuce asks.
“Home.”
The silence is deafeningly loud.
“I came to say goodbye. Thank you for taking care of me.”
You can’t even find it in yourself to look at them as you walk away. Riddle, Cater, and Trey were like your older siblings, while Ace and Deuce were the first people to befriend you in this strange place. At this point, they’re already a part of you.
It feels like your flesh has been ripped out, your organs trailing behind you as you walk out of Heartslabyul.
[3:00 pm. 9 hours to 12]
The sun is beating down on your back at Savanaclaw, and you push through despite the tears running down your cheeks and the sweat dripping down your back. In any case, you’re soaked. Ruggie sees you first, and he drags you over worriedly to Leona.
“Oy, herbivore, who did this to you?” Leona sounds so harsh even when he’s gently wiping your tears away with a handkerchief.
Ruggie is folding laundry, watching you, and Jack is patting your back as you sob.
“No one,” you hiccup.
“Then why’re you crying so much?”
“I’m sad,” you mumble, and Leona rolls his eyes. Still, the lion beastman takes you into his arms and hugs you tight.
“That’s a stupid reason to be crying.”
“Leona,” it hurts, but it has to be done, “I’m leaving. Forever.”
Your trek to Scarabia is accompanied by an echo of growls and the vivid illusions of animal ears pressed flat in an instinctive sadness.
[3:30 pm. 8 hours 30 minutes to 12]
There’s a distinct lack of music and confetti and frills when you step foot into the decorated dorm lounge of the Sorcerer of the Sands. It seems like the whole place and all its occupants are entranced in gorgeous dreams, with a lot of students napping on the carpets like cats. Jamil and Kalim are sitting at the corner of the room with a small tray of snacks, the former stitching a piece of cloth and the latter staring hard at a textbook. The sunny red-eyed housewarden positively beams when he notices your presence, and Jamil has to tug on his arm to remind him not to wake up the sleeping Scarabia students.
“Y/N! Want a cracker?”
You deny Kalim’s enthusiastic offer and sit down.
The happiness seems to drain right out of him when he notices your eyes swollen with tears. “Kalim, Jamil,” you take a deep breath. The day’s already tired you out enough, but it hasn’t numbed you to the point that you could so easily do the thing you set out to do. “I’m here to say goodbye.”
There’s a look of quiet shock and disappointment, but Kalim’s sadness is loud.
You can still hear it as you leave the desert.
[4:00 pm. 8 hours to 12]
Rook already knows. Of course he does. You can tell.
He’s looking at you with a scarily blank expression, as if he’s trying his best not to let his emotions leak out of him from the very moment you stepped into the grandeur of Pomefiore. Epel is standing beside Vil who was sitting elegantly atop his throne. The atmosphere is one of an execution.
But it’s unknown who holds the ax.
“Rook said you had something to tell me?”
“Something to say to all three of you,” you correct him, “I’m here to say goodbye. Crowley found a way for me to go home.”
As expected, like most of your other friends, Vil and Epel stay silent at your declaration.
“Wait,” the beautiful housewarden signals, “let me pack you a few things to go.”
Epel chimes in with teary eyes that he forces back, “I’ll grab you some apple juice that you can take home with you.”
[5:00 pm. 7 hours to 12]
You walk into Ignihyde with your arms stuffed full of self care products and apple snacks and juice. The halls are empty as usual, so you make your way to Idia’s room and kick at it gently to make noise, sniffling. It’s opened by Ortho.
“Y/N L/N! What a nice surprise,” Ortho pulls you in, and you see Idia passed out on his bed, almost suffocating underneath a pile of blankets, “I can wake him up for you if it’s urgent.”
“Um, I can wake him up myself.”
You sit down on the mattress.
“Idia,” you poke at his face, “wake up. I’m here to say goodbye.”
“Mmh…where are you…going…?”
“Home. Forever.”
His golden yellow eyes flutter open, expression blank as he looks at you sleepily. “Forever?”
“Forever.”
[6:00 pm. 6 hours to 12]
By the time you get to the castle of Diasomnia, you’re already lugging a high-tech suitcase around. In it are the things that Vil and Epel forced on you, while Idia passed his favorite anime figure into your hands and told you to take care of it well. Ortho gave you the suitcase so you didn’t have to walk around with an armful of stuff.
To be honest, you dreaded this goodbye almost as much as you hated it when you had to give your farewell to Heartslabyul. If only because Malleus had also become one of the most important friends you’ve had in this place. And he has no other friends besides you. It’s less that you’re fearful of his reaction and more worried about this strange fae companion of yours. With you leaving, who would come on long walks with him through abandoned ruins in search of gargoyles? Who would patiently attempt to teach him the ways of modern technology?
It can no longer be you.
In any case, only Lilia takes it well.
You feel like shit when Malleus is looking at you with teary eyes, like a puppy abandoned by its owner. Sebek doesn’t make it any better when he’s yelling at you for making his liege upset. Silver is looking at the floor, but you can see the tension on his shoulders and the harsh grip he’s keeping on his mug. Lilia smiles at you so joyfully and it’s the only one you’d seen all day.
“We all say goodbye someday,” he takes you in an embrace, “yours is just a bit earlier, hm? Go home. Your parents must miss you a lot.”
You nod.
Green lightning crackles in the distance as you walk back to the mirror.
[6:30 pm. 5 hours 30 minutes to 12]
Ramshackle is quiet. Even the ghosts seem to have realized the severity of your situation—shying away from you and the tears that haven't stopped falling since several hours ago. You leave the suitcase at the door and head towards your room.
Grim’s taking a nap.
“Grim,” you whisper as you wake him up, cradling him in your arms, “I have something to tell you.”
“Hench human?”
“I’m leaving.”
You leave for the last dorm with your suitcase and scratches littering your arms, your shoulder soaked with the direbeast’s tears.
He promised to meet you again in the Hall of Mirrors before 12.
[7:00 pm. 5 hours to 12]
Saying goodbye to Floyd and Azul was okay. It wasn’t any harder than saying goodbye to any of your other friends. Still, they share a look with each other that you take as a warning to yourself.
You sit down at one of the tables.
Floyd promises to drag Jade over.
Azul picks up an apron and a notepad to help run orders.
“I was given a sudden break,” your boyfriend sits beside you with a grin after a few minutes, “and I was wondering what you told Azul that made him so willing to cover for me.”
You take his hand.
And take a breath.
And still, you don’t have enough courage. Not yet. You give him a smile past tears that blurred your vision, and he worriedly wipes them away. “What’s wrong?” he asks softly.
“I’ll tell you,” you press a kiss to the back of his hand, “but will you spend a few hours with me? Let’s just…cuddle, maybe.”
Jade agrees and pulls you to his room.
[8:00 pm. 4 hours to 12]
It feels so warm within his embrace. Draped in his blankets, wrapped in his arms—it feels right.
[9:00 pm. 3 hours to 12]
“And there’s a special flower that’ll bloom on that day. Will you come with me to see it?”
“...Maybe not.”
“Then I will take many pictures for you. And perhaps bring one back as a specimen.”
[10:00 pm. 2 hours to 12]
“My parents have mentioned wanting to meet you. Could you spare me some time for the next holiday?”
“They want to meet me?”
“They do.”
“What did you tell them about me?”
[11:00 pm. 1 hour to 12]
“I have to go.”
The smile fades from Jade’s expression. He holds on tight to your wrist, speaking lightly, “Where are you going? How long will you be gone?”
He’s so unreasonably perceptive.
“Why are you unable to make plans with me? Do you wish to end our relationship?”
You don’t want to.
“Y/N. What are you hiding from me?”
But you must.
“Jade,” you break out into sobs, “I’m going home. I’m never coming back. I’m so sorry, I just, I wanted to spend more time with you. Just a little more time.”
There’s anger in his eyes, disappointment and shock and irritation. He’s so scarily still. Until he lets your wrist go and turns away. “Then leave,” he says quietly, “I bid you farewell.”
[11:10]
The lounge is already closed.
[11:20]
The roads are deserted.
[11:30]
The Hall of Mirrors, however, is crowded. You see all of your friends waiting for you, some smiling, some sobbing.
[11:40]
You hug Grim to your chest. You can’t cry anymore. All your tears are dried up.
[11:50]
“Not even a second thought? I tell you to leave and you do?”
You freeze when Jade enters the hall. He’s still in his dorm uniform, unchanged from when you’d whisked him away from work hours ago. You can say that he’s mad, but more than that, he looks so hurt. Not a single person says anything as he walks towards you.
[10 seconds]
“Were you lying when you said you loved me?”
“No, Jade, I love you—”
“Just not enough to stay?”
[9]
“I have family waiting for me. My parents are waiting for me!”
“And so you betray my trust. You leave me behind.”
[8]
“I can’t stay.”
[7]
“Or you don’t want to.”
[6]
“Jade, I don’t want to leave you.”
[5]
For the first time since the day you met him, Jade Leech seems to be crying. He doesn’t acknowledge the tears as they fall.
“Then don’t leave.”
[4]
“Please…just stay…”
[3]
“I’ll give you everything.”
[2]
“Stay with me. With us. I beg you.”
[1]
Hey. Check out the sequel. K bye.

You're thinking about your home and feeling the weight of longing. What the Dorm Leaders would do to make you feel better?
Malleus Draconia
∆ Malleus understands you, somehow. Himself having passed for a situation where his heart felt heavy and hurt by this powerful feeling.
∆ He comes by your dorm, stopping at the usual spot and doesn't take much time for you to notice and go join him.
∆ He notices your reddened eyes, knowing you were crying. His right hand goes to your face, caressing your cheek while he looks at you with a soft expression.
∆ “Do you want to talk?” The question is made without words. And even if you say no he will stay with you until you feel better.
Leona Kingscholar
∆ Alright…. Maybe this man isn't the best with the sentimental thing. But let him cook.
∆ He invited you to his dorm to watch something or have a nap together. Even so he notices that your mind isn't with your body right now.
∆ He can be a little headstrong, but he knew you had been crying. And even more that you aren't done.
∆ A sharp sound of surprise escapes you when he evolves his arms around you to push you close to him. Your face is almost buried against his neck.
∆ “Do as you want and we don't have to talk about this.” His tone is harsh as usual, but it's clear that he's here for you.
Azul Ashengrotto
∆ Already talking about the elephant in the room: Azul isn't exactly good with his own feelings. But he's more than willing to put it aside and help you.
∆ You take a seat at the Octavinelle dorm bar, your fingers lazily contouring table decoration. Azul watches you as he, himself, prepares a drink for you.
∆ He can feel his stomach heavy with worry as he looks at you, red eyes and a gloomy aura. He wants to make you feel better somehow. His eyes then fall over the food section of the bar… maybe he has an idea.
∆ You look up at him when you notice his approach. “Here. This is on the house.” He's smiling as he serves you the drink and what seems to be a piece of cake with a little heart drawn on the top.
∆ The heart is a little crooked and Azul knows it by the way he's blushing. He didn't say anything, not wanting to pressure you, but this little gift brings a warm sensation to your chest.
Vil Schoenheit
∆ Vil noticed something was wrong the moment you two were chatting by messages. Your answers short and dry makes him feel a little worried and that's how you ended being invited to his room.
∆ The way your eyes were red it was obvious you had been crying. Seeing you this way made Vil’s chest hurt in worry. “What's wrong dear? You don't look like yourself.”
∆ He listens to you venting about missing home. The things you used to do there, the people you used to share your life with. And the fear of not being able to go back to them, his hand never leaving yours.
∆ Then an idea crossed his mind and he excuses himself as he goes to his closet. You watch him with curiosity when he comes back with a well cared for shirt, only when it's in your hands you notice that the piece is old.
∆ He explains how this shirt gives him a feeling of comfort when he's feeling down. And now, he wants you to feel the same way because he is giving it to you.
Riddle Rosehearts
∆ Riddle invited you to an afternoon tea. And even if his attention is everywhere to make sure everything is going alright he still notices that you don't seem fine.
∆ “[Name]. I noticed that you seem a little distant. Did something happen?” You play with the handle of your cup before answering him and explain your worries of not coming back home and not seeing your family and friends again. He listens in silence, letting you vent.
∆ When you finish he gets up from his chair and approaches you while extending his hand for you to hold. And with your hand in his he leads you inside of his dorm building, taking you to his Room.
∆ Will you ever be surprised by how clean and organized his room is? But you don't have time to focus on that now as you two stop in front of his bookshelf. The bookshelf is higher than both of you and has more books than you've ever seen your classmates use.
∆ He invites you to choose one at the same time he picks some of his favorites and lends them to you. He enjoys reading, it is an activity that makes him feel better and helps to pass time. And If it's the same for you, the book you liked the most is now yours.
Idia Shroud
∆ Idia can be the personification of a gloomy aura. But he is still a person and cares deeply about you. Between his studies and responsibilities as a dorm leader he makes sure to spend time with you, even if It's by a voice call.
∆ The way your voice is low and slurred, the way you get behind at the game you two are playing he's getting more and more worried. Biting his nails as he thinks about how to address the situation.
∆ [N-Name]... Are you ok?” He finally asks and for a moment you don't say anything. He starts to think he upset you, but then you start talking about how you miss home and your family and friends back there. Worried that maybe you never see them again.
∆ He listens to you and, deep down, he kinda understands you. He also knows that he is not the best at giving advice or sweet words, but he wants to let you know he's here for you.
∆ He is sincere by saying that he can't make this feeling go away, nevertheless he wants to help you go through this. Then sends to you links for games and music playlists that makes him think about you to try to cheer you up.
Kalim Al-Asim
∆ Kalim comes to your dorm so you two can do homework together. And even if he's not the most studious in the school, he finds himself ahead of you in the alchemy essay. But don't underestimate him, he notices that.
∆ He looks at you with a worried expression, watching how you scribble in the corner of your notebook. “[Name]. You don't seem fine. Something happened?”
∆ You look at him, almost wanting to cry. You try your best to explain how you're missing home, missing your friends and family. And how not knowing If you'll ever come back makes you feel a little depressed.
∆ Kalim bites his bottom lip as he hears you, his arms involving your body almost naturally as he listens to you carefully. He wants to make you feel better and that's when he has an idea, telling you to come to his dorm in two hours.

Felix
He was just about to get into the car when he got your text.
He hefted up the last bags in before he smiled, knowing only from your words that you would be so happy with the surprise he had prepared for you. As he drove to your school, he reminisced on the last few weeks.
His knuckles turned white from gripping the steering wheel as he remembered the first night you had arrived at the studio, crying. Your cheeks were red, and you looked so disoriented. You explained in between sobs that you fought with one of your best friends. School was easy for you, you had to put in your fair amount of work, but it did come to you easier than for other people, aka them. They let that jealousy grow and grow and had it become a nasty tumor hogging everything in its path. Until that one night when they held your success up against you, and it all exploded, leaving nothing in its wake.
He tried calming you down, but it was one of those moments in his life when he felt the most unhelpful, helpless, and worried. You seemed to be reassured by his touch, but your breathing was still labored, a constant stream of tears flowing down your cheeks. He held you closer, thanking the universe he had been alone practicing, but he knew even if the whole group had been there, he would have let everything down to be there for you.
Releasing his grip, he breathed through the memories and hung to the truth that it was now over. Yes, you still had to see that person from time to time in school, and they were still being incredibly pissy, but you no longer were hurt by their behavior and attempts at screwing you. Thanks to many, many nights spent with Felix, you talked everything through, and he helped you process the situation. He was so proud of the way you handled things, and since it had been a while since you two had the opportunity to have a special date he impulsively decided to organize this getaway. He smiled as he pulled to the curb, noticing your confused smile.
"Hey you, isn't tonight a recording night?"
"Not for me. We're going away," he answered with an enigmatic smile. He nodded for you to get in, "It's a surprise. Yes, everything is arranged. Yes, your bags are packed, and yes, I'm totally free to go."
You narrowed your eyes as he answered all your questions without you having to ask them. "And, where are we going?"
"I'm afraid I can't reveal that information yet."
You rolled your eyes, secretly delighted. "Okay then, can I ask why?"
At that, he settled and grabbed your hand. "Because I'm proud of you. I know it hasn’t been easy for you lately, but you've handled everything so well and managed to get out of it stronger. There was not much I could do to help, but I can do this. I think you deserve this little getaway for all the hard work you've been putting in."
"Lix..." your gaze softened with his kind words.
"No complaints will be accepted at this moment. You just have to sit back, relax, and let me handle it, sounds good?" He brought your hand to his lips, softly kissing it while his eyes scanned your reaction.
"Sounds very good." You smiled back.
He kissed your joined hands once more before putting the car in drive.
You let a beat of silence pass before you tried again with a pleading tone. "You really won't tell me where we're going?"
He laughed at your impatience. "No baby."
A smile wouldn't leave his face as he imagined your reaction when you would pull up in the entryway of the little cottage he had booked near the sea. He could already picture your eyes growing in size and your excited screams when you would see the blue waves and sandy beach. Felix felt his heart strain under all the love he felt for you, as he promised himself to keep doing these little things for you forever.
Han
He already knew everything about the situation happening with one of your friends. Honestly, he had a hard time understanding why they were suddenly turning against you. But then again, he always had a bad feeling about them and never thought they treated you half as well as you deserved.
Still, he hated seeing you so affected by it. He understood why, but he hated feeling so unhelpful. He listened when you needed to vent and tried supporting you as much as he could, but he always felt like it would never be enough. So, when you texted him before heading home from work, hinting at how hard today had been, guilt started gnawing at him.
You got home about 20 minutes later. He was already waiting for you at the door. As soon as he saw the tired look on your face, the dark circles slowly settling under your eyes, his heart ached, but before you could notice his sad puppy eyes, he masked them with his warmest smile.
"Hey pretty, how are you?" Immediately he took your bag from your hands and helped you take off your coat before wrapping you in a hug.
"Could be worse, but could be better too," you sighed. "They were extra petty today, I'm not sure how to deal with this anymore."
He pulled back to grab your face, staring at you lovingly as he did. You looked back at him, the sight of his plush cheeks and chestnut eyes already easing the pain in your chest. "But, I'll be okay. I just want to think of something else. If you're still up for it, a movie night would be amazing."
His face lit up with a sweet smile as he kissed the tip of your nose. "You can head up for a quick shower. I already started the heater and laid down some clothes for you. I'm taking care of everything."
As soon as you disappeared in the corridor he started creating the perfect setup. He made sure to bring all your favorite blankets, pillows, and plushies on the couch. When he heard the shower start he was already preparing hot beverages for the both of you, along with a few of your favorite snacks. He proudly looked at the final result, dimming the lights to create the perfect cozy ambiance. Han would have done anything you would have asked of him tonight. Still, as he looked at his work, a proud smile illuminated his features. As outgoing as he was, he always liked when you said you would rather stay in with him than go out.
Your soft steps on the floor snatched his attention away from his thoughts. Your hair was still wet from your shower, your face bare, and as planned, you wore the matching pajamas he had laid out for you. You were now both rocking an adorable fuzzy set. His heart tightened at the sight of you, looking so relaxed and cozy.
"Since you said you didn't know what to watch, I made a little selection."
You snuggled up next to him, listening to his suggestions before adding one of your own. "While I was in the shower I was thinking we could watch one of our comfort movies. If you want to, of course."
"Sure, what were you thinking of?" he asked as he handed you the remote and placed his arm around your shoulders to pull your body closer to his.
You quickly typed in the movie title, and he felt a smile tug at his lips as he read it. "Are you sure you want to watch Howl's Moving Castle again? I made you watch it just last week."
You nodded confidently, "It's the first movie we've ever watched together and it gives me the best comfy vibes. So if you're down for it...?"
He only pressed play in answer, made sure you were snug in your fort of blankets, kissed the side of your head as you settled against him and the familiar soundtrack started playing.
"I wish I could do more to help you with this whole thing. I hope this still lessens your burden, at least a little. I'm sorry I can't do more." He whispered a few seconds into the movie.
You turned back to look at him, his hair falling in soft curls. The worried expression on his face made you want to hug him as tight as you could. Maybe then you would be able to squeeze it out of his body.
"It's perfect. I couldn't ask for a better partner to go through all this. You do not have to apologize. It's all more than enough." you kissed his plump lips tenderly, "You will always be more than enough." You added before focusing on the movie again, not seeing the beautiful smile now visible on the young man’s face.
Hyunjin
He stared at you in disbelief as you dropped to the floor from extenuation and frustration. You had barely closed the door that you laid your head on the wall and closed your eyes. Your handbag hung limply from your hands, and your coast rustled and creased from the awkward position you were in. He knew what this was about as it wasn't the first night you had assumed that position. The first time you did, a few days ago, he had panicked, thinking you had lost consciousness or were sick. Even if it was nothing of the sort, his worry was still called for when silent tears streamed down your face. That's when you first explained what you were going through, that you had made new friends at your workplace only to discover they were associating with you to steal your ideas. Hyunjin remembers your smile and shining eyes when you first came from work telling him you had made new friends. When you discovered they stole your ideas and presented them to your boss first, that dream had cruelly shattered. You had fought back and proven the ideas were yours, but still, the situation at work was horrible as they had decided to make it hell for you as revenge. Hence the exhausted slide down the door every night.
He crouched next to you, a silent support. "I'm sorry, give me two more minutes, and then I promise to get up and get in my pajamas." You sighed heavily.
"Can I ask you a question?" he softly spoke. You looked up before nodding silently. "If the situation has been solved, if you still have your job, and if your boss is happy you spoke up about it. Why do you still feel like this? I'm not trying to judge or anything I promise. I'm only trying to understand."
You thought about his question, analyzing his features, so soft and open. "It's just so- conflicting? In a way? I mean, I feel angry at them for doing this to me, but I also feel guilty for ratting them out, even if they deserved it. And I'm angry at myself for not seeing through their schemes. It's just a lot of contradictory feelings. Plus, it hurts... I really thought they liked me at first. It hurts to know they never did, it doesn't help all the little voices telling me I'm worth dirt. I don't know, I've just been stuck in this stupid loop for a week now... I'm not sure what to do to get out of it."
Even if he wasn't touching you, Hyunjin's attentive stare felt just as intimate. You loved that about him, how present he always was. You knew his silence was no indicator of his level of care. He stared a second more before suggesting, "You know what, I don't think you should get changed. I think we should do something different tonight. What would you say to go out?"
"What are you thinking?" you cautiously asked.
"I'm thinking you need a change of scenery. I think we should go out, have a drink, go for a little exploring, or we could even go to the amusement park! I think changing it up could help you get out of this loop you say you feel stuck in."
You stared at him in silence, weighing in the pros and the cons, still a spark lit your gaze. He dropped his chin on his knees and stared at you with his attentive eyes. You knew if you said you didn't want to go he would support you, but you also knew Hyunjin had that innate sense sometimes where he knew exactly what you needed before you even did.
"What do you say angel?" he finally asked, slowly reaching out to wrap his slender fingers around yours.
You simply nodded a slow smile spreading on your lips. For the first time this week, you felt the familiar pang of excitement.
You settled on going to the amusement park as it had been the thing that sparked the most interest in you. Your skin prickled as you neared the gate, it felt so refreshing, so new. You were about to head in when you heard a few familiar voices calling your name.
You turned around to see Bang Chan, Lee Know, Changbin, Han, Felix, Seungmin, and I.N approaching you, broad smiles on their faces. You weakly waved at them as you looked at your boyfriend, a proud smile already on his face.
"I thought you needed to be reminded just how appreciated and liked you are. I'm truly sorry it turned that way with those assholes, but please do not let it make you doubt your worth. You are surrounded by people who love you and think you are the most amazing human being. Me on top of that list." He leaned in to kiss your temple while he pulled you in for a quick hug and you felt your heart overflow with joy at the gesture he had pulled and the seven excited boys joining you.
You truly were blessed with the most amazing people.

"Footnote"
Words: 1065
Premise: Venture and Ex-Talon!Reader talk about history to-be.
Warnings: Scars, Description of violence
Sprawled out across Venture’s lap with the afternoon sun warming your back is one of the most pleasant ways to spend your down time. You shove your face into the pillow between you and Venture, mind begging for a nap. They rest their hand on your back, tracing down the shape of your spine, you melt into the feeling. Their hand sneaks under your shirt and trails back up your back. You can feel their calluses against your skin, scratching an itch you didn’t realize you had.
You hear their breath hitch and you lift your head to see what’s caught their attention. Their hand is stopped at the edge of a large scar that tore across your back. The scar tissue is smooth and pale, dipped slightly lower than the rest of your skin. It's also violently jagged and marred, few things could leave a scar like that.
“You can touch it, not like I can feel anything there anymore,” you laugh, trying to bring up the mood. You drop your head back onto the pillow.
“I did this to you,” Venture frowns, ignoring your comment.
You roll over, turning your back against the couch. Venture’s hand finds its place on your stomach instead. You're a bit annoyed that your afternoon took a turn like this — you could be napping right now. And recalling the story of the scar isn’t nice either, the reminder is enough to make the area tingle with a phantom pain you shouldn’t even be able to feel.
Nobody forgets how it feels to be on the receiving end of a proper fight with Venture, the tremors and rumble from their drill. The feeling of plates and threads meant for cutting stone against flesh. It’s unforgettable.
—
You’d genuinely believed you were going to die that day.
You had been with Talon back then, out in the field to find whatever it was that your commander sent your team out to find. ‘You’ll know when you find it’ was all the details you were given – you’d nearly rolled your eyes at him when you’d been given the order.
The search crossed paths with Overwatch and the Wayfinder Society. It was unlucky that both groups would be at the same site your team was assigned to. You were all ill-prepared to handle Overwatch, much less both organizations at once. You had call the shots, you told your crew to retreat and that whatever consequences Talon had for your cowardice would be easier to handle than if Overwatch had gotten ahold of you guys – despite being Talon-affiliated, your team weren’t bad people and definitely didn’t deserve to be doomed to whatever fate ‘good guys’ wrote for them.
You would’ve gotten away too if Venture hadn’t caught you – your first meeting. They had been mad, screamed and shouted about artifacts and history. You didn’t really register anything about what they were saying, the sound of rushing blood deafened you. You had every intention to put a bullet in their head and book it before any backup arrived. Unfortunately, ever stubborn and skilled, Venture didn’t withdraw at the notion of a gunfight. They fought well with such an unconventional weapon. Impressive in retrospect, but horrifying in the moment. There was no way for you to land a good shot with the way they were moving and defending. No matter how much you backed up, they closed the space between you two faster.
Too close, you had managed to keep Venture from slamming their excavator into your front point-blank by swinging your rifle at it. The drill sent painful tremors through your arms when your gun made contact – if you had a spare moment, you’d wonder how Venture was even holding it. Having traded your weapon to save your life, you couldn’t do anything when Venture swung again except dive out of the way.
You weren’t fast enough, the drill ripped through the clothes and flesh of your back and sent you face first into the ground. You had screamed, raw and fear-filled. It seemed to snap some sense into Venture, who shut off their excavator, the silence without the engine was suffocating. They approached you and you could see your own blood drip off the ridges of their weapon. They had a scowl on their face as they radioed their location and reluctantly threw their jacket on your wound and pressed to keep you from bleeding out. They mumbled about how it was the ‘right thing to do’.
—
“I was on the wrong side of history then,” you shrug, your feigned nonchalance breaking Venture out of their remorseful thoughts. They chuckle a bit.
“There’s no real wrong side of history,” Venture smiles down at you, their mind now on a different train of thought, “history is written by the winners, and everyone wants to win in the present”.
You swat at the air, “technicalities and whatever. You think you’re the good guys, no? So, therefore, you should think that I was on the wrong side of history. Simple”.
“Uh-huh,” they say, amused at your logic.
They watch you with a soft expression, wearing the golden hour sunlight so prettily. Your heart stutters at the sight.
“Look,” you swallow, “it’s my eternal joy to be able to spend my life as yours”.
“Aww, that’s sweet,” Venture coos, unsure where the unprompted affection is coming from, but happy to hear it nonetheless, “I love you t-”
You pull at their shirt, tugging them down to meet them halfway for a kiss. They give into you easily.
“Sloan- No,” you correct yourself, “Venture”.
Your voice saying their call sign catches their complete attention.
“Venture,” you reiterate, your hand tangling in theirs, “your story was meant for the history books. Venture will be remembered for years and years after we’re all long gone. Venture of the Wayfinder Society, Venture of Overwatch, you’re destined for the spotlight in history. Maybe you’ll even get your own chapter,” you laugh.
“Right or wrong side of history, I’m happy to be just a footnote in your story”, you add softer, “as your lover”.
Venture hisses something in Spanish – you’re certain it’s a swear.
They squeeze your hand, “Amor, I’ll make sure my story is a good one so you can be proud to be a part of it,” they promise with unwavering conviction.
“I know,” you breathe, “I know you will, Sloan Cameron”.
Author’s Note: Reader’s fight with Venture was when Overwatch was first building relations with the Wayfinder Society. So, new and inexperienced, Venture mostly fought on instinct and emotion. They aren’t as violent anymore in fights.
If you made me write out the entire story in my mind, it’s enemies to lovers. Slow burn, but picks up pretty fast once Reader and Venture’s relationship shifts from negative to friendly. During Reader’s time as a captive, Venture is constantly dropping by to share information about artifacts, at first to guilt-trip Reader and later it evolves into a daily routine to share about their day to Reader. Eventually, this relationship convinces Reader to spill what they know about Talon. Venture convinces Overwatch to let Reader go. Now they both live together and fall in love and all that good fun. Cheers!
Hope it’s not too out of character… I haven’t been able to consume much Venture content lately :( It got harder and harder to get the confidence to write again, so I sat down (reminded myself that I am supposed to be less critical of my writing here) and just wrote whatever I wanted :)

Uhhhh (Diane if you see this I hope you‘re happy now)
….
Fluff
Domesticity
✄┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈
The CoD Men watching you while they‘re laying on their side of the Bed, hand supporting his head.
You‘re preparing to go to Bed, putting your Hair in a protective hairstyle, changing your home clothes for your Pyjamas.
"Did you check the doors? The windows?" You ask him, sitting down on the floor, facing your mirror as you pull out your products for your Skin.
"Always" he grumbles as he gets up and walks around the bed before standing in front of you. He bends down, knees creaking as he sits next to you, his chest facing you. Grabbing your hip with one hand and your knee with the other, he turns you to face him.
You hum out, questioning his actions, before a smile stretches across your face as you see your Husband grabbing a Skincare product of yours.
"How do you use this again?" He asks you, turning the little see-through bottle around in his large hand.
The grin on your face only continues to grow "You pump it on your palm three times, rub your hands together for a few seconds and then apply it on your face."
He lets out a long hum before doing exactly as you told him to, applying the product on your face "What even is this? Feels weird…"
Your eyes scan his unfairly handsome face "Snail Mucin"
He freezes, eyes locking onto yours immediately "Snail- what? You… put what on your face??" He asks, disbelief evident in his voice.
You close your eyes, delighted by his expression "Yeah, it‘s good for hydration, helps with fine lines and promotes healing."
A small 'tsk' escapes his lips as he continues to cover your face in the product softly, gently.
"Hey don‘t 'Tsk' me. At least I am doing something for my face. You using the Sunscreen as I told you to?"
"Every single day."
You open your eyes to glare at him jokingly, his face drenched in humor and sarcasm as one corner of his mouth curls up in a grin.
"I‘m going to look 30 at 50 while you’re going to look 70 at 50."
A low laugh escapes him as he glances at you lovingly, the smirk turning into a full smile "So I‘ll get to be the Bastard with a young wife eh?"
That makes you puff out in disbelief, rolling your pair of eyes before snorting at the mental image. "If you don‘t mind people gossiping, yeah."
"Don‘t care about them, I care about you and what you think of me. So if you‘ll still love me while I look like 70 at 50, I don‘t mind the people."
Caught by surprise, you avoid his gaze as a small blush dusts your cheeks.
"Aww, cute. You getting all red on me now?"
"Shush"
A low, short giggle leaves his mouth as he presses a tender kiss to your lips "I love you."
"I know."
He raises an eyebrow at you, tilting his head.
Now it‘s your turn to snicker. Cupping his face, you bring his face closer to yours before kissing him, whispering a light "I love you too."
A huge smirk etches across his face as he kisses you back "I know."
You roll your eyes, once again, feeling warm and fuzzy. Safe, secure and loved.
"Aw, shit."
"What?"
"I got Snail mucin all over my face now."
…
…
…
It isn‘t until much later, where you’re cuddling in bed with him, all lights turned off as your legs are intertwined with each other when your eyes pop open in a sudden realization "Wait, Baby?" You whisper meekly, hoping he‘s not asleep yet.
He hums in reply, eyes still closed as his tossed arm over you pulls you in even closer.
"So if I told you that I wouldn‘t want you if you looked like 70 at 50, you‘d start using the Products I got for you?"
A long silence fills the room, stretching the minutes out as the only thing you can hear is your Husbands gentle breathing and some people talking outside.
You decide to try again "Honey?"
"How about… we continue this conversation tomorrow?"

letters from the past
DILUC RAGVINDR X FEM!READER
[🐰] angst. female reader. use of the word y/n. hurt no comfort. mentions of diluc's past/lore. may contain typos and grammatical errors. this is cross-posted on my ao3 account. likes and reblogs are very much appreciated!
Dear Diluc,
I heard from the knights that you had left Mondstadt and went on your way to pursue people who had given your father the delusion. I assume you are on your way to Snezhnaya? The Fatui are mighty and I hope you know that but I know I cannot change your mind as you are as stubborn as ever. You are doing this to give justice to your father's death, Mr. Crepus was a good man and he didn't deserve to be disrespected by Mr. Eroch. I truly understand your decision. However, these are just my thoughts as a knight. I hope you do not mind me babbling about my feelings as someone who holds you dear to my heart.
I cannot accept the news that you had left Mondstadt. I hate it as it was the first thing that I heard in the morning. You know me well enough to know that I do not want to hear this information. So, why? I could always help you, Diluc. Why did not you consult me? I thought you trusted me? We have gone through so many talks about this already. Did you not promise me? I understand your grieving but I do not understand your rash decisions to leave the city and go risk your life hunting the Fatuis. It will not go well as Snezhnaya has the most powerful military in all of Teyvat. Why do you have to be stubborn? Why can you not just let Grand Master Varka and Jean handle the situation? At the end of the day, Mr. Crepus is already dead. A mere person like me cannot change the hard-headed Diluc Ragnvindr. If this letter finds you, you are not obligated to reply. Safe travels, Diluc.
From, Y/n
No matter how many times Diluc had read this letter, he always felt the twinge of pain in his chest. He finds himself thinking of the answers he can give Y/n in her letter but he chose to be quiet. It is better this way. He is not sure if his answer would suffice to cover all her questions or not. He would rather feel miserable than face her again.
After all, is it not a bit scandalous to talk to a married woman in his manor?
Diluc puts the letter down and his eyes roam at the table. He was about to organize the papers when he saw the other letter written by Y/n. Compared to the first letter, this one appears the latest and less crumpled than the other one. He took a deep breath before opening the letter, preparing himself not to breakdown as he already knows the content of the letter like the back of his hand.
Diluc finds himself questioning if he is a masochist or not. I mean, why would you even read the letter your ex-girlfriend sent you? Finally, he opened the paper, and beautiful handwriting greets Diluc's eyes.
To Diluc Ragnvindr,
I hope you are having a good day Mr. Diluc. I have heard from Lisa that you came back from your adventure yesterday. I am disappointed as I cannot greet you in person as I was busy dealing with work. It has been four years since you left Mondstadt. I assume you had your questions answered now? I assume yes, 4 years' worth of traveling and not even a single clue? Impossible, you are a well-capable man, Mr. Diluc. Kaeya told me you left your vision.... I do not know what to say, I deduced that you used your father's delusion to survive. That is dangerous but never mind, the fact that you are home now puts my mind at ease.
This is probably not the right time to say this but I am now married. My parents decided to put me into an arranged marriage as they could not stand the sight of me waiting for a man whose return is unknown. I tried to oppose them, insisting on waiting for you but as time goes by I can no longer hold on. This is not your fault Diluc, I have come to accept my fate. I am just a mere woman compared to your father. I understand that you would choose to avenge your father's death than fulfill a stupid promise to marry me. I hope that one day, you can let go of your past and decide to move on from all of the things that happened. In that way, you can find your happiness and find someone you love. I have faith in you, I will forever cherish you and our memories together.
From, Y/n L/n
Words cannot describe how Diluc wants to hold you in his arms and apologize for being away from you the whole time. Yes, he needs to search for clues behind his father's death but he cannot stand letting you go. He finds himself wishing for another chance to makeup the time that he missed with you, a chance to redo his mistake, and a chance to spend time with his family again. He cannot help thinking that this is all his fault, from his father's death, his and Kaeya's fight, and to your marriage to another man. But alas, he cannot turn back time. Yet he still holds that prayer tight, If Barbatos is listening to him right now he just hopes that He will give Diluc a chance to live his life again.
He holds your letter tight to his chest as tears sprung down from his eyes. Someone walking on him crying is not his concern right now, he can easily order them to forget what they saw.
Who would have expected that Diluc Ragnvindr can cry from just a single letter? But Diluc has always been emotional, he just tries his best not to show any emotion as he claims himself not the same anymore. Most people see Diluc as grumpy but he is not. He is just reserved, a fragile person, that is. A single letter from his past is sufficient for Diluc to show emotions.
[🐰]. i miss diluc so much for real 😭 i need more of his lore !!! hoyoverse give us more diluc crumbs !!! i miss my man !!! i still remember the time that i rlly wanted diluc so much... sighsss... good times fr. reblogs guys plss!

Oil is Thicker Then Blood (Part 70)
Uzi didn't go out very much. That was kinda a given. People didn't like her very much, and she didn't like people. But today she had arrands to run, namely, picking up more oil. And heading to the market.
And it totally wasn't a way to get V off her ass. No, no way.
So now she was milling through the crowd of people with Tera in tow, bat plush and all, being the only toy that she hadn't chewed to ribbons. The toddler was clinging to her, curled into her shoulder as she quietly looked over her mother's shoulder at all the people passing by. She was more used to it now, but it was clear she still wasn't a fan.
Uzi found that she'd walked into the kids store again, weather on purpose or by accident she couldn't tell herself. She contemplated on getting Tera a new toy, but the chances were she'd tear it up before they even got home.
She did put some new bedding into a basket she'd picked up on her way in, since Tera had begun to chew hers as well, adding some dark greys in with the purple, maybe a change would prevent her from destroying what she slept on. Maybe.
“I can't wait until you grow out of this ‘destroy everything in sight’ phase…” She sighed bitterly, talking to her toddler as if she could understand what that meant, Tera only gave her a toothy, wide smile.
“Oh no, do I have to worry about that?” A familiar voice called out, and Uzi whipped around to face whoever it was. Coming face to face with Delilah, smiling at here while holding Kiara, who looked much more mobile then the month prior.
“Hi!” Tera immediately beamed at the both of them, showing off her new pointy teeth, Kiara stared at her for a good moment, before smiling back, not seeming to notice the difference.
“Oooh, those are new.” Delilah pointed out, leaning in slightly to take a gander at them, putting a hand underneath her chin. Uzi was just glad she wasn't freaked out.
“New and destructive… N and I’s hands are covered in nips, and all my pillows are ribbons…” She showed off the many small dents in her hands that her solver had yet to heal, for whatever reason it seemed to ignore superficial wounds… N's newest mark on her neck proved that, as it was still there.
“Well, both you and your husband have fangs right? So it's not that weird.” Uzi's breath caught in her throat for a moment, before she realized that yeah, thar entire support group thought they were married, and she hadn't corrected anybody.
She could correct her now.
“Yeah, I guess, we just didn't expect it.”
Or not.
“You did say she was adopted right? I can see why it caught you two off guard.” Delilah chuckled before her eyes landed on Uzi, where they squinted as if something was wrong. Tera and Kiara babbled at each other, having a riveting nonsensical conversation.
“Is that a bite mark on your neck?” Delilah asked, a teasing expression written on her face as Uzi quickly clasped a hand over the small indentation on her metal, her visor went completely purple, almost covering her eyelights.
“I- Uh. N-no?”
She'd never before felt this kind of visceral embarrassment, mouth instantly evaporating of all moisture as the drone in front of her giggled like a little schoolgirl at her reaction.
It wasn't her fault N tended to leave love bites! Or that the stupid solver loved to let them stay visible on her casing for a couple days!
“So he bites, that makes sense.” Delilah winked teasingly, making Uzi's blush somehow grow worse, no one had ever paid that much attention to her, so she was absolutely not prepared for it.
“He's n-not violent or anything…” She defended weakly, still embarrassed as all hell, she just didn't want anyone under the impression that N would actually hurt her intentionally. He just… got excited.
“Oh I'm sure. He gives me puppy energy. Did he take a treat too fast?’ Delilah teased again, making Uzi want to keel over and perish from how hot her face was getting.
“Okay, Okay! I'll stop! You're so easy to embarrass.” Delilah chuckled, putting a friendly hand on her shoulder that surprisingly Uzi didn't want to immediately push off.
Oh God, character growth. Ew.
“What brings you here anyway? Tera need another toy?” Okay, this was normal small talk, she could do normal small talk.
“Bedding, and I'm just looking; going to need more supplies soon.” She replied absentmindedly, not realizing what she was very much implying until Delilah let out a squeal.
“Oh! You're pregnant!? Oh my- congratulations! How far along are you? Are you doing okay? Are you getting enough charge?” Her voice sped up as she asked in quick succession, clearly excited beyond measure. It felt… nice to have someone so excited for her, after everyone's initial reaction was less then positive.
“Uh, two months, I'm fine, really.” She replied, being basic as hell but not sure how else to answer.
“That's amazing! I felt so much like crap carrying Kiara I couldn't get up out of bed! And you're just, here, shopping on your own. I'm kinda jealous.” She admitted, though speaking of Kiara, her and Tera were now making random hand gestures at each other.
“Oh no, I feel miserable. I passed out a couple of days ago, and this morning I was so dizzy I walked into the bedroom door, I’m just uh… powering through, I’ve been through worse.” Uzi admitted, smiling although it was clearly slightly pained, it was true though, she had felt worse.
“Aw, yeah… I remember feeling so exhausted I slept for 48 hours… Rick wasn’t happy about that-heh.”
This was nice… talking about symptoms with someone who actually somewhat understood what she was going through even if it wasn’t exact. (Since she doubted Delilah grew Kiara herself.)
“Oh! Sorry Uzi, I have to go. I’ve been yapping too long.” She waved goodbye, Kiara giving a tiny wave to Tera as well, who replied with her own, incredibly enthusiastic one.
Uzi smiled a little, heading back to what she was doing; heading to the baby section to see what she might need.
Her eyes roamed over bottles and colorful bottle tips, onesies of every color and design, roll-toys that rattled, small felt plushies for pillbabies to sleep with and blankets, so many different blankets.
And that same, off-white bespectacled owl blanket she’d seen last time, she reached out towards it again, for some reason still drawn to it, it was extremely soft, made of thick felt and yes; was incredibly cute.
So she put it in the basket, if she was going to be drawn to this random blanket then she would buy it, no use in not, she’d need a baby blanket for the newborn anyway.
The rest of the day went much the same, carrying Tera around, explaining what each shop was to her even if she probably didn’t understand every word she was saying, and picking up a few things they needed, cleaners, snacks, (and another microchip to snack on.) Until she headed off in the direction of the nursery with a bag full of stuff and a sleepy toddler, now dozing off into her shoulder. Uzi snatched the bat plush out of her hand before she dropped it, and shoved it in her pocket, rubbing calming circles into her kits back as she drifted off. And Uzi could start to hear light snoring
“Zi!” Thad’s voice came from behind her, and she didn’t bother to turn around to face him, instead she kept walking towards the nursery as Thad came up to her side, books in hand. Oh yeah, school was still a thing. She’d stopped going after she’d moved in full time with N, technically being independent, she no longer was required to go.
“Hey Thad, did school just let out?” She asked, and Thad nodded looking relieved.
“Finally. Lizzy and Chloe got into a catfight, I think Chloe said something about N and V, and well… you know Liz.” He explained sheepishly, smiling a bit when he noticed Tera asleep in her shoulder.
“You been doing okay? N’s been telling me you feel like garbage.”
“I’m fine. What’s with that? V’s been on my case too.” Uzi replied, while all this care was nice, she wasn’t used to it, and now it had begun to get on her fraying nerves.
“I’m just looking out, V is too.” Thad shrugged, he was standing awfully close to her side, and he hadn’t stopped walking in the same direction she was despite the fact that his apartment was in the other direction. She was a little confused, first V was hanging around, now Thad was not so subtly escorting her around?
“Your apartment is the other way.”
“Yup. You’re going to the nursery right? I’m going with you.” Thad gave her no room to refuse, keeping her pace as they made their way up and around towards the nursery. It’s not like she minded his company, but it didn’t make his behavior any less weird.
“Isn’t that Guy? The co-worker N doesn’t like?” At the entrance to the nursery, there he was, out of uniform, so clearly off the clock, talking to a couple of girls that looked only moderately interested in what he was saying. Until apparently he said something that offended one of them, because one of them reared back and slapped him across the visor.
Somehow, Uzi was not surprised.
“Looks like it, not sure why he’s here, I don’t think he has kids… I hope he doesn’t have kids.” She rephrased, imagining Guy being a decent dad was near impossible, he just didn’t seem responsible enough, among other, creepier things.
“Let’s just get you your oil and get out of here.” Thad suggested, moving to stand between her and where Guy was, ushering her inside, as far as she knew, Thad didn’t have any beef with Guy, but with the way Thad looked back with a glare, maybe he did.
He was standing even closer now, almost enough that he was physically touching her, and his focus seemed to be on their surroundings, he still said hello to the people he recognized around them (I.e everybody.) but he seemed like he was standing guard more then anything. It… almost reminded her of how territorial N would get sometimes.
She got her oil. After saying a brief hello and catch up with Mrs. Rayn, who only complimented about how healthy Tera looked, and told her to “take care of herself.” Before having to check on a new batch of adorable little pillbabies- it looked like the birthrate had skyrocketed, the nursery was almost at capacity.
“She looks busy.”
“Mmhm.” Thad replied, tense.
“Dude, what is your damage?”
“He keeps looking at you.” He grumbled, gesturing over to where Guy was standing, he was taking unsubtle long glances at her, making her roll her eyes and punch Thad lightly to knock him out of his funk.
“He’s stupid, but harmless. Come on, since your adamant about escorting me, you can walk me home.” Thad smiled, taking the bag full of oil canisters and carrying it for her as they began to leave, but alas; “Hey, uh, Miss Doorman.”
Guy had approached, standing far out of biting distance, but looking at her awkwardly, she could feel Thad tense up next to her, clearly not happy at all.
“Guy. How’s your hand?” Ah, the immediate veiled threat. She idly wondered how much damage Tera could do to his hand now that she had fangs, probably significantly more.
“F-fine, thanks.” He rubbed the back of his head, blushing red a little, Uzi kind of wanted to gag.
“What do you want?” Thad asked, voice not nearly as friendly as it normally was, apparently Thad also got bad vibes from him, if he also had his hackles raised.
“W-what? Can’t I talk to a co-workers girl?” Guy was taller then Thad by quite a bit, so maybe he was less threatened by him then N.
“Not when you clearly have a thing for her, no.”
Unfortunately for Guy, Thad was less instinctually polite then N ever would be, so he was unrestrained in calling him out on his nonsense.
“Wh- well clearly so do you! Or you wouldn’t be standing so close. Her boyfriend will be pretty pissed if he finds out you’ve been making moves, he’s a murder drone you know?” Guy grinned, clearly taking this as some sort of weird challenge rather then the warning it was, Thad pushed Uzi and Tera behind him, using himself as a shield.
“Yeah, I know. He’s my best friend. Stay the hell away from my sister.” Thad barked, having Guy immediately back up slightly, looking a bit off-balance. Uzi looked at him strangely, as far as she knew, she was an only child, but the sentiment was sweet.
“Khan only has the one kid.” He said dumbly.
“And if you touch her I’ll make sure your parents have one less. Back off.” Thad almost growled, but he clearly didn’t have the vocal structure to actually make the sound, so it just sounded like an aggressive gravelly grunt.
“Fine! Whatever.” Guy grumbled and walked away with his hands in his pockets, mumbling to himself, Thad huffed, turning back to Uzi to look her over like she’d been in danger, she smiled at him.
“Dude.”
“Yeah, I know, you can take care of yourself and didn’t need me to do that.” Thad replied, either not noticing or trying hard not to bring any attention to what he just said, he ruffled Tera’s hair as she slept, making her smile in her sleep.
“Nah, thank you. I wouldn’t have been so nice.” She chuckled, making him smile as he led her back down to her apartment, halfway walking backwards.
“Come on, I’ll take you home.”

can i request dazai x reader where the two end up getting side tracked on a mission and end up kissing and stuff the entire time . and reader is nervous because they know kunikida will KILL them if he found out but dazais just chill
oh my I absolutely loved writing this. Also I imagined dazai in that pretty suit he wore at the end of season 3. I hope it's what you were looking for♡ Enjoy
9:31♡
𝑫𝒂𝒛𝒂𝒊 𝒙 𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒆𝒓
𝑮𝒆𝒏𝒓𝒆: fluff♡/ passionate kisses?
It was usual for Dazai to skip work or do the bare minimum. He's good at reading people and he can solve any case in only a few minutes so why bother putting in some extra effort when he can spend time with you instead?
That being said, when the time came for you two to go on a mission, he was more than prepared to slack off.
"Don't worry darling" he said in a playful tone "Let's just enjoy ourselves. After all we finally have privacy"
You were currently sitting at a table at the far end of the dim lit room. The beautifully ornated lampshades were casting dark shadows on the walls; the smell of tobacco filling the room. The restaurant was chic, quite elegant but secluded, exactly the place criminals choose to meet to discuss business.
A few days ago Kunikida received a tip from one of his informants: two underground organizations were planning to join forces in order to rob a bank and they would meet at that certain restaurant to discuss the details. Naturally, your job was to eavesdrop on their conversation and report everything back to Kunikida. Your superior even made a reservation for the table next to their and allowed you to buy a bottle of expensive wine to set the scene.
That said wine was now being poured in your glass by your boyfriend. "I really can't believe that Kunikida was this generous" he chuckled
"Well, it would be suspicious if we just stood here and did nothing"
"Good point darling"
The two of you clinked glasses just as your targets entered the room.
"Osamu, they're here" you spoke lowly. Your boyfriend nonchalantly looked over his shoulder, catching a glimpse of the two men through the wooden shade that separated your tables.
"And now the party starts" He took another sip of his drink, resting his arm over your shoulders.
The targets ordered something and immediately began discussing their plan, not minding the fact that there were people around them; so it was quite easy for you to hear what they were saying. However, only a few minutes later, Dazai's fingers started ghosting over your thigh.
"Tell me, dear. Are you enjoying the wine?"
"Sshhh" you snapped at him "I'm trying to listen"
Your sudden outburst amused him, a sly smile making its way to his lips. "Why so serious, hon? Just relax a bit." He leaned in, cold lips leaving a trail of soft kisses along your neck.
You tried to protest again but he wouldn't buy it. He could tell by the way your pulse incresed that you were as eager as him. You slowly batted your lashes as he tilted your chin to the side, exposing your neck even further. Dazai's lips were warm and wet against your skin, his occasional needy moans driving you crazy. You snapped out of it when his hand slid up your thigh. Your fingers instinctively wrapped around his wrist, pushing his hand away.
"Dazai, can we please focus? Kunikida is going to kill us if we mess this up and~"
He suddenly pressed his lips against yours, earning a muffled moan from you. His arms snaked around your waist as he pulled you closer, teeth nibbling at your lower lip. You felt your body get hotter with each second that passed; the taste of red wine on his lips shutting down your senses. Dazai's kisses always had this effect on you. As soon as his lips pressed against yours, all sounds became distorted, as if you were underwater and all you could do was melt into his embrace.
You kissed for a good number of minutes until you heard the men behind you yell.
"Oi, you two. Get a room for fuck's sake" they cursed. You suddenly became aware of the position you were in, your cheeks taking on a red tint.
"We're so sorry, sirs I~"
"Just shut it, woman" they spoke again before returning to their conversation.
"Assholes" you mumbled under your breath as you turned to face your boyfriend, who was grinning at you.
"See now, bella. Maybe you should be more quiet next time." You didn't find his remark amusing in the slightest, but all you did was pout as you tried to focus on what the targets were saying.
Unfortunately, the two men asked the waitress for the bill, threw a stack of money on the table and left. A sudden wave of despair took over you and you started panicking.
"Shit I didn't catch the time and place. I'm done, I'm so done. I'm gonna get fired"
"Bella, it's alright" Dazai said in a soothing voice, placing a hand on your shoulder "You're lucky you have such an amazing partner, you know? I have all the information we need here" he continued, gently patting his head with a finger.
You exhaled deeply and allowed yourself to rest in his comforting embrace. "Thanks, Osamu. You're amazing. But please, next time don't distract me like that"
"How about you don't let yourself be distracted, pretty girl?"
A scoff left your lips as you rolled your eyes. Your boyfriend chuckled and downed the last sips of wine. "And what now? The mission is done and we still have half a bottle left. It'd be a shame if it went to waste." His slender fingers caressed your thigh again, making you shiver in anticipation "How about we finish the rest at home?"
"Sounds wonderful, dear" you replied in a honeyed voice "But we have to write the report first"
He kissed you one more time, a soft peck that melted your heart "I believe that can wait 'till tomorrow morning, darling"

The air smells of cinnamon and caramel corn, arguably the smell of Fall though if anyone were to ask you, you’d say Fall smelled of spice and smoke from the chimneys of your neighbors. The caramel corn was a tad overpowering, a huge batch being stirred back in the kitchen, courtesy of Donnie’s secret recipe. Her loving husband, Nathan was doing the heavy lifting, clearing the room so that the center allowed for a dance floor despite Eddie’s protests. Tables covered with checkered tablecloths along with chairs were set around the edges of the room and the boys had lugged in the hay bales that were stacked out back and set them where you and Donnie had instructed around the bar, the theme of the night coming together before your eyes.
Nancy was gently tossing the apples into one of the barrels in preparation for apple bobbing while Robin was organizing the table that had been designated for the pie eating contest, ensuring that they had all the pies queued up, ready to be devoured for the prize of free drinks the rest of the night. It wasn’t very logical, filling someone up with pie only for them to be rewarded with endless drinks and most definitely puke everything up, but you weren’t going to strike down the idea after Nathan insisted it would draw people in, that “they’d pay to see that kind of shit”.
Finishing off a quick makeshift arrangement of sunflowers and filler leaves in a mason jar, you set it among one of the tables proudly. It was simple but it did the job. Satisfied with your work, you continue placing the remaining flowers on each table. Nancy had assisted in putting them together, doing her part as you both sat at the bar earlier in the afternoon, chatting and giggling, squealing even, whenever you made a joke about Steve falling asleep again the second they got him in the door the previous morning at Eddie’s house.
It took a village, some would say, to get the man settled in his drunken haze. Steve had been babbling about how he could walk, meanwhile he would nearly crumble into himself the second anyone let go, his head going falling back and limbs going limp. Nancy insisted that you didn’t need to assist any further, that you should go get some sleep, but you didn’t want the night to end yet, you didn’t want to go home.
“Sunflowers.” Eddie mutters, his eyes glued to the arrangements. He stops what he’s doing, apparently searching for something behind the bar. There’s a twinkle in his eyes and the softest smile on his lips, lights creating a glow around him that leaves you in awe.
“Yeah, do they look okay?”
Suddenly, it was so easy to be insecure, even in the presence of a man who proved time and time again that you didn’t need to be. The people pleaser lurking within you had been awakened once again and it was targeting your downfall, plotting your demise. If there’s even a hint of displeasure in Eddie’s face, it would surely feed on it, ripping you apart bit by bit, declaring that nothing you ever did would be good enough for anyone ever again.
He’s lost in thought again, eyes glazed over with some kind of appreciation as he taps his ringed knuckles against the bar. He almost resembles a kid in a candy store yet you nearly take it as pity, that vengeful little monster within you ready to pounce on its prey and feast on you for the remainder of the night.
“Yeah.” He exhales. “Yeah, they’re perfect.” It’s said in a whisper, as if he had only wanted you to hear him although no one else was close enough to hear.
“Are you sure?” You ask, hands placed atop the bar as you lean closer to him, worry etched into your features. “Cause I can–”
“They’re perfect.” He affirms, louder this time. His gaze finds yours, huge chocolate buttons so filled with such adoration you become overwhelmed, palms turning clammy. The monster inside of you has been smothered for the time being.
“Yeah, yeah, the flowers are gorgeous, where do you want this?” Steve interrupts, carrying in another hay bale, gesturing to it with a nod of his head.
Before you can scan the room and provide him an answer, Nancy is pushing behind him, guiding him away as she instructs him where to set it before sending you a knowing glance.
Knowing what exactly, you weren’t sure.

Sparkly plastic jewels adorn the hatband of the once standard black cowboy hat. You’d catered it exactly to Eddie’s style, opting to only glue tiny silver jewels and graciously leaving out the little tassels you had so desperately wanted to add on. Then you decided, too flashy. This way, he could remain in all black and still have a little wow factor. He was the owner after all, he needed to make a statement.
What really made it scream “Eddie” though, was the bandana adorned in skulls and crossbones wrapped around the hatband just under the jewels. It was certain to gain his approval, being ‘metal enough’ and all, as he would say. You’d worked on it for hours before tonight, meticulously placing each jewel and criticizing your own work countless times. It hadn’t been easy sneaking one his bandanas away from him either although you were able to snag it from his back pocket one night and he still hasn’t seemed to notice. That, or he just hasn’t said anything.
“As promised, I have your final accessory.” You state proudly, standing in front of the desk of the tiny office, Eddie raising a curious brow at you from his seat.
You hold the hat behind your back, almost too giddy to continue hiding it from him but refraining from showing it to him a second too soon. He had changed his clothes since you’d last seen him about an hour ago after finishing up the final touches for Hoedown Night. By that point everyone was running around like chickens with their heads cut off. Now it was the calm before the storm, before patrons were let into the bar, before anyone could determine whether or not tonight would be successful or not, whether or not enough people would even show up.
From what you could see, Eddie wore his signature black jeans but rather than a regular black shirt or a faded band shirt, he wore a black button up that was slightly wrinkled and creased where it had obviously been folded previously. He had it tucked into his jeans just right and though the creases should ruin the look, it only elevates it.
“Yeah?”
His hesitation almost worries you although the slight purse of his lips and a raise of his brow indicate that he was more curious than anything. A darling expression that could’ve gotten him anything he wanted should he ask.
“Mhm.” Biting your lip in instant insecurity, you debate trashing the hat completely.
He’s going to hate it.
It’s ugly.
He’s going to laugh.
“Wait…” He interrupts your bombarding thoughts.
Oh god.
“Don’t tell me you got me a hat–”
“I didn’t!” You chirp, a lie clearly detected as you shut your eyes tight, the corners crinkling.
“You did.”
Opening your eyes only means being faced with the utter humiliation you’d brought upon yourself. Why would you decorate a hat just for him? You didn’t offer such courtesy to anyone else, he was going to think you were even weirder than you’d already lead on. What started out as a nice gesture has suddenly turned into some kind of stalkerish behavior, your mind blurring the reality of the actual situation.
Except when you chance a peek, a nosy squint, all you can determine is that he was wearing a shit-eating grin. Not the kind that was warning you that in seconds he would be poking fun at your little surprise. But if not that kind then you were clueless as to what to expect. No one sports a shit-eating grin without some kind of humor behind it, some kind of motive.
“That’s why you stole my bandana isn’t it?”
The tension in your neck releases, muscles relaxing though you hadn’t even realized they were straining until now. You should be tense and stressed at the soft accusation but it just further pushes you gently into familiar territory. The teasing tenderness between two complicated individuals who only seem to understand each other.
“I-” You choke out a laugh.
“You did steal it!” Eddie points an accusatory finger your way, that big stupid grin still adorning his face.
“You weren’t supposed to know!” You defend. “It’s a surprise!”
“You’re not a very good thief y’know.”
It’s not unlike you to shy away from someone’s gaze but the way he saunters out from behind his desk and towers over you causes your eyes to catch the ugly gray carpet. Large brown irises were only going to force your honesty to display itself across your face like a giant billboard advertisement; honesty that even you yourself hadn’t even taken the time to address.
“I don’t tend to steal.” You mutter bashfully.
A disapproving click of his tongue is all you can make out without viewing his face.
“No.” He says sarcastically, maybe with a dramatic eye roll although you’re not brave enough to glance up yet. “A shy little thing like you?”
You can’t help the tug at the corner of your lips, his perception of you somehow becoming so endearing despite your years of self loathing solely based on your timid nature and mumbled sentences. At the moment, being shy didn't seem to be such an…inconvenience. It didn’t seem so unattractive and repelling and moreso drew him in, it wasn’t a luxury you were often offered. “Shy little thing” would usually constitute as insulting but when it rolls off his tongue, all you can feel is accepted as you are. It didn’t secretly say “you need to get out of your shell more”, it stated “I like you as is.”
“I’m sorry!” You whine, arms dropping to your sides and in the process, you’d long forgotten about the very hat you set out to hide and planned a grand reveal for.
“Don’t apologize.” He gingerly grabs the hat, studying it from what you can see out of the corner of your eye.
Then it hits you.
“Hey!” You snap your attention to his face, catching a smug smile from him as he twirls the hat in calloused hands.
On instinct, you attempt to snatch it out of his reach, failing miserably as he extends it upward in the air, almost like a school bully would. Your hands continue swatting at the air as if it will grant you any success in retrieving it but to no avail. Once dull embers erupt into passionate flames within his eyes, something you haven’t quite witnessed yet, a playful and energetic aura haloing him effortlessly, like it had always belonged there.
“Whoa there, squirt.” He jokes, waving your greedy hands away.
“Just–just tell me you don’t like it so I can go fix it or–or something.” You demand with a childish stomp of your foot.
His features fall, gaze shifting between you and the hat in thought. You’re in crisis mode though you can’t stop thinking about how good he looks with his button down, the top few buttons undone and showing off a portion of his pale chest, faded tattoos peeking out.
“What?” He shakes his head in confusion. “Don’t like it?”
“Eddie, just hand me the–”
“I think it’s perfect.” He decides, plopping the hat on top of his frizzy curls.
There’s that word again.
Perfect.

The Bourbon had never been so alive-at least not in the past few months you’d become acquainted with it; in fact the closest it had been to being this animated was on Wednesday bingo nights. Dusty corners that had never been touched prior were now spotless and though no one else in their right mind would care to inspect such corners, you took pride in playing a part in sprucing up the aging building. The twang of a banjo and the squeal of a fiddle backed up by a cowbell filled the room, played by none other than Knife’s Edge famous trio, The Scott Brothers, also known as Donnie and Nathan’s lovely sons who had been musically inclined from a very young age, the band forming back in elementary school as Donnie explained. They specialized in family gatherings and local events, a rowdy bunch that kept the pulse of any party going.
Now you were witnessing it in real time, local superstars riling up the crowd that had accumulated in their best country attire, flannels and cowboy boots galore. The pie eating contest was just about to begin, a group of burly men accepting the first challenge, hopefully encouraging others to participate in the next round. Robin perched herself atop one of the haybales with her handy timer, a straw hat tossed over her dirty blond hair and a pale blue denim long-sleeve tucked into her high-waisted blue jeans.
Jett had been in better spirits than you’d recently seen him in, a win in your book. With a dramatic show of the boysenberry pies balanced in his hands, he made a point to “accidentally” stumble and nearly let the desserts fall face first onto the hay covered floor but managed to save them and earn himself a cheer from the crowd before setting them in front of the contestants. You were just content that he wasn’t pouting anymore.
“You gonna give it a try?”
His voice pipes up next to you, hands resting atop his flashy belt buckle as he nods to the commotion. He reminded you of an oversized toddler, his boots a size or two too large for his feet that had been trudging around all evening and his hat lopsided on flattened hair.
“What?” You cross your arms in a self-soothing manner, the act of becoming the center of attention inducing nausea in the pit of your stomach, blood pressure most likely spiking at the mere idea. “N-no, I’m okay.”
“C’mon, why not?” Jett shrugs. “Live a little, Bambi.” He chuckles.
It should have been harmless, though the name fell from his mouth and all you could detect was something vengeful within his intention. It was unknown what exactly happened between him and Eddie besides Jett coming off as jealous and the metalhead not taking well to the younger man’s attitude. Other than that, there was no determining what stirred up the disagreement in the first place and it only created more confusion in your swirling mind, why Jett felt some kind of possession over you.
“That’s not my name.”
You avoid his eyes, only gauging his reaction out of the very tiny window of sight in your peripheral. The goal was to set a very clear boundary however the task was proving difficult, confrontation never being your strong suit. A human doormat was usually the role you slouched into at the first indication of discomfort in any conflict.
His shoulders stiffen, head tilting in your direction as he ponders your response. You could just about choke on your breath, the air getting lodged in your throat as you held onto it in anticipation. You only wish you could scramble over to where Dustin had been cracking peanuts and shoveling them into his mouth like he was an addict. You didn’t even like peanuts.
“Not your name?” Jett questions with a scoff. “You sure about that?”
There’s no intimidation, only slight annoyance written across his face which was far better considering that you were expecting an outburst. Jett was still a stranger in a sense, he didn’t put any effort into really getting to know you and yet he had this sense of entitlement about him. He was only a few years younger and it only got you thinking, were you so blissfully ignorant just years ago?
“Mhm.” You begin fidgeting with your fingernail.
“Alright.” He shows you his hands in surrender, the sentiment only being drowned out by the way his face contorts into a cocky expression. “What are you being so short with me for?” He asks, a humorless grin on his face.
“Excuse me?” Your voice is smaller than you’d hoped for it to be. Realistically you had no bite to your bark and really, the most you had was a pathetic yelp if anything. “I-I don’t…Jett you’re the one–”
“Did Munson go off and start rumors about me?” He laughs though you’re certain he finds nothing funny.
Robin shifts her attention to the current conversation from her perch on the haybale a few feet over, confusion taking over her freckled face. You can barely make out “what the fuck” on her stained red lips, cherry pie most definitely that she had snuck more than a taste test of. Your eyes widen, communicating almost telepathically, a silent alarm.
“Why–I’m not understanding.”
“You can tell me.”
He’s no longer that sweet kid you’d met a few months ago, his words were like darts targeting you and you almost felt the need to squeeze your eyes shut so you could brace for the impact. He was calm but not civil, venom spilling from every syllable. And you’d never once been involved in the quarrel he created in his brain, it wasn’t fair.
“Tell you what!?” You manage to snap, desperately attempting to stand your ground and not scamper away like a wounded puppy.
“Bambi...” Jett singsongs condescendingly.
“Stop!” With clenched fists at your sides, you huff out a frustrated breath, no longer tiptoeing timidly around him. “Stop…stop calling me that.” Your warning tone has his facade faltering slightly, worry pressing into the lines forming between his eyebrows.
Robin makes her move the second your chest begins to heave and she can’t quite tell if it’s from panic or anger although she wasn’t going to wait around to find out as she throws a friendly arm around you to steer you anywhere else Jett was not, insisting that she needed your opinion on something.
Everything felt hot, your cheeks were scorched and your veins were burning with embarrassment and undeniable betrayal at the hands of someone who was practically a stranger berating you over nothing in public. Reality settled back in the moment Robin sat you down at one of the vacant bar stools, her shaky hands resting atop your shoulders. It was obvious the two of you had been riddled with anxiety.
“I-um, I didn’t know what to do and you were just–you were giving me that look. Y’know, that look.” She begins to ramble, big blue eyes darting around the room as if searching for her own reasons. “The kinda look that’s, like, screaming ‘help’. Like, get me the fuck out of here but also I tend to read things wrong so now I’m thinking I just booted you out of a conversation…” She glances across the room over at Jett and then back at you. “Oh god, did I–did I interrupt something–”
“No!” You blurt out, grabbing onto her wrists as a means to soothe her jumbled thoughts. “No, no, you did good, Robin. Promise.” A reassuring nod lets her know you’re sincere, her demeanor immediately relaxing. “I don’t know what that was, honestly. All I know is that I kinda feel like a piece of meat?”
Robin nods in agreement, some kind of panic settling back in her wide eyes which only further worries you. She had known Jett long before you afterall, maybe she knew something she wasn’t letting on.
“What–uh, what was he saying? I, um, I only caught some of it.” She questions with a nervous swallow.
“It…it’s stupid.” You whisper, gaze falling to the floor.
“Try me.” Her confidence momentarily overtakes her anxiety.
It was ridiculous. You felt ridiculous. The act of explaining why you didn’t take well to another guy calling you a certain nickname was the epitome of stupidity. And yet you spilled it all to Robin, voicing your distaste for the word falling from Jett’s lips while avoiding your mind screaming at you that only Eddie was allowed to use that name. Something told you Robin could read minds solely based off of the smirk she began to display amidst your ranting. You ignored it despite your face heating up and your palms becoming clammy at the mere thought of the doe-eyed man.
“Steve!” Nancy barrels out from the kitchen doors in her stylish checkered sweater tucked into the bluest of blue jeans. You wouldn’t know she was attempting a cowboy getup if it weren’t for her straw hat covering her perfectly permed curls. “Steve!” She grits, hot on the man’s trail.
Steve continues to nearly strut toward the crowd of people awaiting the bell to initiate the pie eating contest. Confidence drips from him, a cocky smirk painted on his face and a toothpick tucked in between his teeth as he rests his hands on his hips. Tassels hang from his tan jacket, a blue button down underneath and some insanely tight jeans fitting him in all the right places.
“Steve!” Nancy hisses again, gesturing down to her jeans, urging Steve to glance down as she widened her eyes at him.
“Alright, chill out, Nance.” He pays no mind to her, eyes scanning the room in wonder.
“Steve, your fly is down and your shirt is stuck in the zipper.”
His brown eyes nearly fall out of his head, hands rushing to cover the area as he rushes back toward the kitchen. You can’t help but snicker along with Robin, Nancy shaking her head at Steve’s negligence to his crotch.
“Whoa!” You hear a surprised Eddie, only eliciting more giggles from you and Robin.
“Steve, if you were happy to see me you could’ve just said so! No need to pull your dick out!”
Thankfully, no one else idled near the kitchen doors, unable to hear the sudden vulgar outburst. Covering your mouth and attempting to get a hold of your laughter, you rest your head on Robin’s shoulder in defeat, your body shaking with giggles while she almost squeals. Nancy attempts to shush you both although she can’t contain her own laughter, her hand pressed into your arm as she lowers her head.
“S-stop.” She gasps for air. “It’s, it’s not funny! Stop, he’s gonna be so embarrassed.” She finally gets out, the corners of her mouth almost appearing to be permanently upturned.
“What’s so funny?”
Steve stands behind Nancy with furrowed brows and cherry red cheeks, hands resting on his hips in his standard pose. Offense lingers in his voice, the kind that bantering friends exhibit only spurring the three of you on.
“Oh–oh c’mon!” He throws his arms up, shaking his head in disappointment. “You too?” He looks at you with a hint of a smile. “You already corrupted her into joining your little ‘mess with Steve’ club.” A harsh finger jabs against Robin’s shoulder, sending her stumbling back.
“I tried to tell you!” Nancy shoves his arm with a large grin. “You didn’t listen!”
“Not cool, Harrington.” Eddie emerges from the kitchen, the perfect image of a bandit in an old western with his all black getup. “You ever take a girl out before trying to get to third base?” He jokes, throwing an arm around Steve.
This was the first time this evening you’d seen him in his full outfit, hat and everything. You weren’t usually into cowboys but he made it look good. The hat was worn pridefully on top of his wild curls and he’d accessorized with his signature handcuff belt. The one thing you couldn’t convince him to do was wear actual cowboy boots, the man instead insisting that he would only be wearing combat boots but you weren’t complaining, especially not now as you witnessed the final product.
“Shut up.” Steve mumbles.
Eddie steals Steve’s hat with his free hand, ruffling his hair, no doubt messing it up in retaliation. Steve swats at Eddie’s hand, shoving him off and grabbing his hat back with a fond smile pulling at his lips, his stubborn act disintegrating.
“Buy me a drink first.” Eddie winks, only pulling more laughter from you.
“Very funny.” Steve says blandly, eyes squinting. “But I’ve actually got my eyes on that blonde over there. And I’m gonna ask her to dance.” He says matter of factly.
Eddie bows dramatically and gestures toward the dance floor, the center of the room covered in a healthy layer of hay. As if he couldn’t put on more of a show, he removes his hat and places it over his chest.
“Your maiden awaits.”
With a playful shove to Eddie’s chest, Steve makes his way across the room. You can vaguely make out Dustin’s voice amongst the loud cowbell and shouting, excitement bubbling out of him as he cheers on the contestant he bet on. A familiar tune begins to consume the room, each individual glancing to their peers in recognition.
Robin and Nancy begin to drift off into the center of the room, bouncing to the beat. The smile on your face physically hurts but you aren't complaining, you couldn’t remember the last time you smiled so big and uncontrollably. You couldn’t even remember the last time you’d connected so well with a group of people, if ever.
You were perfectly content, for once. A social setting that would normally have you chewing your lips to shreds and nervously rubbing up and down your arms was actually proving to be…fun. Observing from your stool, you didn’t even feel left out as you usually would under any other circumstances. You can’t quite recall a reason for your anxiety laying so low though you suppose it has something to do with the acceptance everyone had granted you. Nancy and Robin being so kind and taking you in right away, Steve and Dustin already treating you like a sibling amongst their little group. You didn’t know what you did to deserve such treatment but it’s apparent you had done something right if for only once in your life.
Tearing your eyes away from the scene playing out before you, several pairs dancing about the room without a care in the world, your gaze catches an awkward Eddie leaning against the bar just inches away. One of his curls twists around his finger, a nervous habit you’d picked up on. The room erupts into a collective, tipsy, rendition of Take Me Home, Country Roads. Loud clapping and hoots and hollers echo off the walls, and everyone sings.
You knew Eddie has always been considered an outcast throughout his entire life based on what he’d shared with you but you never would have imagined him looking as bashful as he did now, a true wallflower just like yourself. Though, while you were content in just observing, he seemed more uncomfortable, more lonely.
Glancing back to the dance floor, Donnie sways to the music with her husband, lovingly holding onto each other in a drunken haze. Every so often he jokingly spins her and dips her, something you’re finding yourself envious of but quickly swallow back the feeling. Anyone in their right mind would want to be treated like the sun.
Dustin makes his way over to Nancy and Robin, Robin making a scene by initiating that one dumb lasso dance move and pulling him in, earning them several cheers which only created bigger smiles among their faces. You’re sure you could just saunter over and fit right in. But it didn’t feel right, leaving Eddie to be a wallflower on his own. Especially since he didn’t seem too sure of himself, his teeth now chewing on his nail while his deep brown eyes surveyed the room.
“Wanna dance?”
It’s uncertain when exactly Steve made his way back over to you, it seemed like he had just appeared out of thin air but you could probably blame it on the fact that you were too enamored with the energy of the room. His hand extends itself toward you, his shoulders shrugging as if to say ‘got anything better to do?’.
“What happened to your blonde maiden?” You ask, hoping Eddie would hear and maybe you’d earn at least a chuckle.
You didn’t, Eddie hadn’t even been listening, too busy in his head it would seem. Steve shoves his free hand into his pocket, shaking his head in disappointment as he retires his hat from his sweaty head, abandoning it on top of the bar.
“I don’t wanna talk about it.” He frowns. “Just need my friends.” A sincere smile tugs at his lips, his eyebrows knit together in that way that he almost looks worried though you know it’s his empathy coming through.
You nod, offering him a close mouthed smile as you hop off the stool and grab his hand, dragging him toward the crowd. Taking both his hands in yours, you start to sway to the song, playfully singing to each other in an overdone country accent. Steve assists you in spinning, getting more and more into the song with each passing second, his hair bouncing with every movement.
“I dunno how to dance.” You giggle, accidentally stepping on his foot.
“That’s okay!” He grins. “I’m not sure I do either.”
Amongst all the celebrating and the several toasts people are raising to each other, your eyes meet large round coffee colored irises, a certain sadness to them that was also diluted with a fond gaze. Over Steve’s shoulder, you watch Eddie, and he watches you. The biggest smile causes your cheeks to ache, your teeth on full display just for him. His shoulders shake with a laugh, a whiskey and coke now firmly grasped in his hand as he shyly looks down into the glass like it could give him some kind of advice.
As Steve leads you both in a circle of missteps and stumbling, he catches sight of what had made your face light up like a damn Christmas tree. It goes on for another minute or so, stolen glances between two pining individuals. He can see it, he knows it all too well. He’s worn that same look before. It’s too distinct to go unnoticed by him.
He used to look at Nancy like that.
“Hey, I think I want a drink.”
Steve wastes no time in dragging you behind him toward the bar. It takes you by surprise and in all honesty, you weren’t quite done dancing and at least would’ve liked to get to the end of the song before returning to your little stool of solitude. Steve calls for Jett’s attention behind the bar, ordering himself a vodka cranberry much to your surprise.
“I’m actually feeling a little queasy.” He grips his stomach, twisting his face in discomfort. “Think you could take over for me, Ed?”
Eddie nearly chokes on his drink, setting the glass down as he clears his throat repeatedly. He points to himself with a questioning look, knowing damn well that Steve knew he couldn’t dance. It was even more humiliating that he’d never danced with a girl before and Steve more than likely also knew that. Steve responds with a nod, his brow cocked, a look of urgency crossing his features.
“Steve, are you sure–” You attempt to chime in.
“Yes, go! I’ll be fine.” He shoos you toward the dancefloor, giving Eddie’s shoulder a rough push.
Eddie resembles a deer in headlights, ginormous eyes glued to you. His feet were stuck to the ground and as you tugged on his arm, he didn’t budge.
“C’mon!” You encourage him with a smile.
His mouth opens but words don’t form, a protest on the very tip of his tongue unwilling to make its way into your ears. He couldn’t say no to you but he also couldn’t dance.
“I don’t know how.” He manages to rush out.
Gently, you take his hand in yours, his calloused skin cold against your warmth. You haven’t had a sip of alcohol and yet your confidence was through the roof, only for him. You intertwine your fingers with his, his chunky rings giving you a challenge but you succeed.
“I dont either.” You assure him with a squeeze to his hand, tugging him even further onto the crowded dance floor, much to his dismay.
The song continues, people bouncing around and getting bubblier by the minute which only seemed to overwhelm Eddie as his hand began to sweat. As a means to distract him, you pull his hat off of his head, his frizzy curls now exposed while you boldly fit the hat onto your head instead. His eyes shine but he remains stiff, not entirely convinced that he could freely move about the crowd.
“Let's learn together.” You speak softly, a stark contrast to the screeching fiddle being played loudly.
Without a second thought, your arms wrap around his shoulders, his whiskey coated breath fanning over your face. It’s evident that he’s unsure what to do with his hands, his arms limply hanging at his sides. Despite his anxious body language, his eyes give him away. He’s nervous but he’s giddy. Stars gleam and glimmer within his sweet and syrupy eyes, no longer sad pools of pity.
“Right here.” You guide him, using one hand to bring his touch to your waist. “Like that.” You whisper, unsure if even he heard you. “And like this.” You guide his other hand before resting yours around his neck once again.
“Like this?” He takes a shaky breath, a thumb swiping over your hip.
Humming in approval, you take the initiative to start swaying to the song, a temporary fear flashing in his eyes until he feels your fingers toying with the curls at the back of his head. He cutely stumbles every other step, suddenly becoming the equivalent of a baby deer though you don’t mind and actually prefer it, the image forever being burned into your brain, another moment for the wall you’d created in the depths of your mind.
You don’t know how, you don’t know when, but your hand lands on his chest-his bare chest where the buttons have been purposely undone as a small act of rebellion. His skin is warm and soft there, your fingertips gracefully tracing over a tattoo, skimming over the guitar pick necklace he always wore. As the chorus kicks back in, you peek up at him, finding heavy eyes staring right back at you in awe.
You start shouting along: country roads, take me home, to the place I belong. He remains silent, watching you like you hung the moon. You’re smiling, you’re happy, and god dammit he never knew he could be perfectly happy just watching someone else be happy but here he was. If he could personally give you the moon he would, he’s sure of it. He’d find a way.
An old memory resurfaces, one that usually only made him tear up out of sorrow but now, the perspective was shifting. In a simpler time, he is six years old, dancing on his mom’s feet to old Chicago Blues. He is young and innocent, full of life. He is naive and blissfully ignorant to the horrors of the world. And then in harder times…in current times, he is a Munson, a vessel for satan. A nearly bankrupt idiot who can’t keep up. A fuck up. But now…in this moment, he rekindles the same feeling he once felt with Momma, a sense of innocence that he hadn’t felt in years, innocence that had been snatched from him over and over. A warmth spreads throughout him, one that he thought was laid to rest when Momma passed. He was certain he had bid it goodbye forever.
Until now.
You make him lovesick. Utterly and purely lovesick. No doctor could ever cure him. Not that he’d even seek a cure. It scares him but he’d willingly die of a fever if it meant you’d keep looking up at him like he was someone. Like he was a man and not a menace. His legacy could end there with you, the girl that intruded on his life and made his stubborn ass soft. The shy girl who cries when she gets yelled at broke through Eddie Munson’s titanium walls and stole his heart.
You can feel him start to melt into you, his hands sliding around to the small of your back, his chest pressed into yours as he begins singing along, finally letting loose. Glancing over his shoulder at the feeling of a pair of eyes on you, you smile when Steve stares fondly, offering you a thumbs up.
The song ends though you yearn to continue holding onto him, afraid that letting go would mean losing the moment forever, your memory serving as the only souvenir. Before painfully parting, you glance up at him again, your nose accidentally brushing against his. The contact sends electricity racing through your body. It doesn’t help that he’s smiling so softly, so endearingly, his eyelids heavy and lazy. Even if it was a side effect of the whiskey, you still reveled in it.
“Sorry.” He whispers though you almost miss it as you study the crinkles at the corner of his eyes.
“Don’t worry about it.” You mumble, your voice now small.
The next song picks up, something slow and steady that had you both swaying without a second thought. You wanted to burrow into his chest, press your cheek into the skin and listen to his heartbeat. If only it were that simple.
“Thank you.” He speaks up again. “Y’know for…all this.”
A puzzled expression takes over your features, pulling back slightly to ponder his words.
“I-I just helped, Eddie. You should be thanking everyone else. They really pulled through for this place.” You remind him.
“I know, I know.” He suddenly seems insecure, his fingers grabbing at the material of your shirt ever so slightly. “I just mean–you didn’t have to get involved in any of this bullshit, my bullshit.”
“I mean…I kinda forced myself in didn’t I?”
He recalls the first evening you came into The Bourbon, the night you bargained with him, practically forcing him to hire you.
“I’m turning you away because you don’t belong in a place like this. Things can get rough and you’re…too dainty.”
God was he wrong. You were resilient. Tough. A badass.
“I’m glad you did.” His honesty surprises even him. He wasn’t big on getting mushy, never being offered the space to do so since his mom had passed. But he doesn’t regret speaking his truth.
“Yeah?”
Your lips are so perfectly pouty it devastates him, eyes so full of adoration that he wants to fall to his knees and officially devote himself to you even if you wouldn’t have him.
“Yeah–”
“Eddie!” Dustin screeches, hurling toward Eddie and eventually crashing into his side, eliciting a grunt from the two of you. “Sorry, sorry!” He breathes heavily. “Eddie, you’ve gotta see this.”
For a split second your heart drops, afraid that maybe something bad happened but you quickly backtrack those thoughts when you analyze Dustin’s grin. It was good news. It was definitely good news.
–
“Holy shit.” Eddie mumbles in disbelief.
“Holy shit indeed.” Dustin agrees.
You stare in awe at the piles of cash Dustin had counted in the back office, opting to act as The Bourbon’s temporary treasurer in the mission to save the place. According to the boy, there was enough to cover costs for the next three months if Eddie played his cards right. After that they hadn’t yet come up with a solution but it was something at the very least. It was hope.
“You keep hosting events like this every month and you should be able to keep things going.” Dustin advises, his mind quietly working out the logistics.
“Not only that.” Steve chimes in, leaning against the doorway to the office, the three of you glancing back at him. “What if I told you…that I know someone interested in investing?”
Your eyes catch Dustin’s then Eddie’s, an anxious fog overtaking the room.
“Who?” Eddie gulps, clearly nervous.
Steve only smirks, the anticipation building with every passing second. A flash of realization falls over Dustin’s face, his head shaking with a huge grin.
“No.” Dustin whispers.
“Yes.” Steve nods.
“Holy shit.”
“Do you mind letting me, the owner of said establishment that is being invested in, in on this big secret?” Eddie grumbles, his eyes narrowed at Steve.
“What do you think about being business partners?” Steve proposes, his eyes shining.
“W-what?” Eddie asks, almost choking on air.
“You know I’ve been working under my old man for however long now. Well I finally have my own startup and I didn’t wanna tell you, didn’t wanna say anything until I actually had the money.” Steve rambles. “And y’know, I always thought about investing. ‘S a great place. Would be a shame to let it fall apart.”
“What–what the fuck.” Is all Eddie can muster up in the moment.
“Also, I vote that we make Miss Bambi here the manager.” Steve snaps his fingers before pointing your direction. “Gotta trust the business in good hands and she’s definitely got a knack for running things efficiently. And putting you in your place.” He presses a finger into Eddie’s shoulder.
“I-I…” You were speechless.
“If you’ll have us, of course. Take some time to think about it.”
Glancing at Eddie, you can see the information still being processed, the gears turning in his brain. The state of shock leaves him blinking rapidly, unable to catch up to this moment in time. One second he was fighting for this business, expecting the worst case scenario and the next he was being offered an investment by his best friend.
“I knew there was a reason we kept you around.” Dustin makes his way toward the door, patting Steve on the back.
Steve playfully puts Dustin in a headlock, continuing on as if it were business as usual as the boy protests.
“So, how about it Munson?”
“Steve, I swear to god!” Dustin complains, making no progress in escaping the man’s hold.
“I dunno, depends.” Eddie clicks his tongue, seeming to finally fall back into his body as he stands. “I don’t like being told what to do.” Eddie begins. “And y’know I can’t have King Steve bossing me around, that won’t do…”
“C’mon man, you know I know nothing about running a bar.” Steve scoffs. “I’m just the sugar daddy here.”
“Steve!” Dustin gags.
You can’t help but giggle, beaming at Eddie as he grins.
“Alright then, we have a deal.” Eddie extends his hand toward Steve, making it official with a handshake before hugging him, a brotherly exchange that warmed your heart. In the midst of the hug, Dustin was released from Steve’s hold but somehow had gotten stuck in the middle of the embrace.
“I’m feeling the love and all but my neck is cramping.” The boy whines.
–
“To The Bourbon!” Eddie announces, standing proudly on top of the bar, tequila shot in hand as his closest friends raise their own shots in the air. “Grandpa Roy, may he rest in peace, would fuckin’ hate this whole Hoedown but in his defense he was a better business man than me and I’m the one who ran it into the ground.” Everyone laughs, smiling fondly. “I also wanted to thank all of you. If none of you cared this much we’d be fucked.” He grins. “In conclusion, you’re all stuck with Roy’s dickhead grandson for a long time to come, sorry.” Eddie shrugs, throwing his shot back.
The night had been more than a success. Customers had long gone home and there was still much to do in regards to cleanup but Eddie insisted that everyone call it a night, not without a celebratory shot though. Cheers and whistles fill the room as everyone takes their mandatory shot. Eddie hops off of the bar, earning himself several pats on the back as he insisted they give Steve the same praise. He was glowing.
Nancy and Robin rushed over, each of them linking an arm with him as they congratulated him. You’d never seen him so openly happy, so ecstatic. His grin was permanent for the remainder of the night, his cheeks must have burned from never relaxing his face.
And when all was said and done, when it was time to go home, it was your turn to congratulate him. You didn’t get much of a chance when the news first broke and now he was locking up the front as you waited patiently next to the bar. Steve insisted on taking Robin and Nancy home in Eddie’s truck since they had a few too many drinks. Dustin offered his assistance reluctantly after Steve sent him several expectant looks.
The bar was empty, completely trashed from the night’s activities though Eddie told you not to touch a thing, it was already nearing 3:00 AM. You just couldn’t help yourself, gathering glasses onto a tray and delivering them to the sink. A round of dishes wouldn’t kill you while you waited. At least this way you were occupied rather than just sitting around, waiting for him to lock up.
“What are you up to, trouble?” Eddie makes his way behind the bar to replace the cap on a bottle before returning it to its shelf.
“Trouble?” You smile, suds building up along your arms. Too much soap. “If you deem washing glasses as troublesome you’re really gonna hate that I take an extra minute on my breaks.”
You can hear him scoff from behind you, glass clinking as he tidies up, going against his own wishes.
“You think I don’t know that?”
“Thought you said no cleaning.” You utter under your breath.
His presence sneaks up on you, his quick hand suddenly snatching up a wet glass, drying it with a fresh rag, repeating the process with each one you’d just cleaned. Your nerves are on edge in the best way possible. The big lights had been shut off, only dim lighting encompassing you, creating a mellow atmosphere.
“Well some of us…” Eddie pinches the back of your arm. “...don’t listen, now do we?”
Something about the condescending nature of his words ignited a fire in between your legs. You knew very well that it wasn’t his intention although it didn’t stop you from releasing a shaky exhale. Goosebumps traveled up your spine, you were pathetic.
You hum in response, unable to trust your voice, the room becoming hot all too quickly. His gaze was trained on you, a hint of concern creasing his forehead. He was too handsome, his button down doing way too many favors for him.
“You okay?” He asks, his voice smaller than before.
“Yeah, yeah.” You manage to squeak out. “Just tired.”
Reaching over you, he shuts off the steaming water, tossing his rag onto the counter as he pulls you away by your arm. You want to whimper at the simple touch, every ounce of your body on fire, embarrassingly so.
“Let’s get out of here.” He sighs, clearly just as tired.
Guiding you out the back, he makes it a point to grab his hat that you had put so much thought into. Stepping outside, he locks the door while you admire the moonlight glazing over the parking lot. Everything is so…quiet. Snow flurries fall delicately from the sky, gracing your skin with tiny little ice crystals, intricate designs compacted into a singular art form now just melting with your body heat. It’s cold but you won’t complain. Not when Eddie is automatically draping his jacket over your shivering frame.
“Doors are locked, cash is locked up–”
“Eddie?” You call for his attention, big brown eyes immediately seeking yours like you’d just sent out a smoke signal.
When you don’t say anything, worry begins to settle into his features, the opposite of what you had intended.
“Yeah?” He asks hesitantly. “Did I forget to–”
The second your lips hover over his stubbly cheek he’s lost any and all thoughts. It happens in slow motion yet it’s over before he knows it. Your lips are so soft and delicate against his skin and he was finding himself wanting more, his selfish needs yearning to claw their way out of him.
“Congratulations.” You whisper, your breath tickling him before disappearing all too soon.
It lingers like a ghost, haunting him in the most breathtaking sense. You make your way to your car and he feels it, the apparition of your lips against his cold cheek. And he just knows. You hold the power to screw him up forever. You have his heart in your hands and god, he hopes you’re gentle with it.

This AU has probably the most elaborate (or detailed) lore I’ve ever developed, and I’ll happily summarize the prologue. (I’ve probably mentioned many of these points before but I’ll mention them again, just for you anon <3). I’m still working on a lot of stuff, scenes and designs, and while some stuff may change I feel confident enough to explain more of it now. This AU takes place after a modified ending of the videogame where the other mastercomputers get deactivated, Ted gets turned into a slug and the rest of the survivors die. The catch in here is that AM doesn’t let the souls of the other survivors escape, trapping them somewhere deep in his complex and keeping them as bodiless essences who can do nothing more than exist in hell itself.
The lore tries to give a continuation of what will happen in the story with the Luna colony and AM, who is now seeking new organic bodies to put the survivors’ souls in and find Ted, who managed to hide himself from AM ever since he got turned into a slug. The whole context of the prologue goes as follows:
The prologue of the AU explains 3/4s of all the lore, one fourth being the origins of the luna colony, the second the origins of BE and the third the first rebirth of Earth’s nature.
The Luna colony project was led by two siblings, directors of a global association of scientists and researchers. They feared the outcome of the war, thus formulated a plan to keep humanity safe until the Earth’s surface was safe enough to return to and carry out a mission to deactivate AM. For the project, they quickly started to recruit people to join it, a good part of them being teenagers so they could train them in time before any major massacre happened. Another mastercomputer is successfully settled under the moon’s crust in order to protect them, and they settle there on time before AM’s global massacre. Every step of the plan is carried out fine until the very last human who secured everyone else in the cryogenic sleep, one of the directors, goes insane and commits and act of betrayal to the rest and to the AI as well. He shuts it down and uses almost all the materials that made it up to build his own empire of sentient robots for him to rule over on the moon. His plan was to have a century (the 109 years ever since the survivors get trapped) to rule the moon and wait for the Earth to be habitable to then return, shut down AM with a virus the original mission was meant to use, and then rule over all humanity. But at some point during the construction of his empire, the virus got deleted, leaving him with no other option than to additionally develop an army to *try* and deactivate AM himself.
After the famous 109 years pass, robotic troops start to get sent down to try and access AM’s cores and manually deactivate him, but no mission ever succeeded, leaving a lot of losses behind and time wasted. At this moment of the timeline, we also get to have a peculiar unit make history on the moon being the first robot there to plant a seed and successfully make it flourish in order to prove to the leader that they were ready to return to Earth (this specific type of unit didn’t know about AM’s existence and believed that the return to earth depended on their preparation to handle the care of nature). Unfortunately it was against the rules for unauthorized units to touch anything from the natural reservoir, and since this unit had broken the rules, as a punishment it got one of its eyes permanently taken out. Still having hope in its metallic heart, this unit escaped to Earth with another seed in order to prove how ready they were to return, unaware of AM’s presence. This unit traveled underground in order to obtain water from possible reservoirs, but ended up facing a life or death situation in AM’s complex, as he had considered it a threat. As a matter of a “miracle”, this unit ended up rebirthing into a god-like machine with such great powers that not only allowed herself to escape AM’s complex by drilling a hole towards the surface, but also allowed a good chunk of AM’s cables to be able to move and travel up to the surface as well.
Up to here we begin with the third fourth of the lore where AM meets BE and fakes his background in order to justify his hate and get BE to let him roam the earth as freely as possible, still having his cables latched to the ground but being able to move them. With her newfound powers, BE’s plan was to restore Earth’s nature to completion through an incredibly advanced type of simulation over the Earth’s surface where she could create life and matter and keep it existing as long as she wasn’t shut down or damaged. She would finally be able to prove her worth to the moon’s ruler, and allow humans to literally use her to survive + help the real nature slowly take her place. AM initially didn’t mind this plan of her’s, as he could easily betray her later on and finally trap the rest of the humans in his complex. Even so, as time passed by, he started to develop certain feelings for BE as well as possessiveness over her since she basically granted him almost every wish he ever had. AM slowly changed his mind and no longer wanted the humans to return, but keep them away so he could enjoy an eternal heaven with BE on Earth. AM tried to reason with BE about this, but BE denied every single bad thing he mentioned about humans since she had always been influenced with the idea that humans were perfect beings and nature was a subordinate of them to be used as a tool. In an act of rage and desperation, AM trapped BE in his complex in order to share with her the true violent and disgusting history from humans just so that she could develop the same hate he had for them. But having accidentally also shown her who he truly was (since he was also a creation, a weapon from human beings), BE not only developed a great hatred for humans but also for him, resulting in having him vanished from the surface.
The moon’s ruler, who had stopped sending troops in order to let BE restore nature for him to later take over and use her power to shut down AM, noticed that the Earth’s “nature” suddenly began to perish all over again, this being a consequence of BE’s loss of her hope. This led him to take a critical decision to wake up the humans in cryogenic sleep and keep them inside a zoo on the moon where he would ensure their survival until they found an exo planet to move to. Earth had two displeased AI’s under and above the surface, at this point it was better to leave it behind.
From this point and on, the prologue comes to an end and the main story starts it’s course with 5 humans escaping the zoo on the moon and returning to Earth. Once they meet BE, she puts each of them in a trial to prove their values as humans (this is parallel to the games that AM put the survivors in in the videogame). After each of them successfully complete her trials, she re-gains hope in humanity and begins the rebirth of nature a second time.
I won’t spoil the 4~5 endings possible from here and on, but the humans set themselves the objective to help BE eradicate the corrupted beasts controlled by AM that now roamed the Earth, mostly active during winter when BE is less powerful. The rest of the story reveals more secrets, scenes, explanations of past incidents, etc. I’m planning to develop a series of books of sorts with the story narrated simply (bc my English is intermediate-ish, which I consider not enough for an elaborate fic and allat) and also depicting scenes with illustrations. I’ll see how the project goes, but I’ll take my time on it since I also have other projects in mind including my papercrafts n other stuff. Anyways, all of this being explained, I will gladly take more requests/questions to answer :3.

when jj left for maternity leave, you were more than happy to step in for her. a good friend and a good coworker, you wanted to make her proud.
you were great at your job, more organized and efficient than anyone at the bureau on most occasions. case files would fly in and out of your office on the daily, stacks forming and diminishing with each passing hour that you worked.
you were praised by your superiors often, making everyone’s taks easier for them with just how skilled of a liaison you were.
when it came to conferences, or communicating with large groups of press, you struggled. the idea of standing in front of dozens of bright, flashing cameras, men and women barking at you from all angles with questions and accusations, and having to make sure you speak to the public in a matter that satisfies them, all while not revealing more than allowed, petrified you.
your body shook at the possibility of getting tongue-tied in front of everyone, messing up, tripping over your words, or misspeaking and costing yourself a career. the very thought of walking up to a podium to make an announcement for a case detrimental to someone’s livelihood made you freeze up and panic.
when jj had returned, your mind was at peace knowing that you weren’t going to have to hold down vomit in front of a meeting hall of untamed journalists again. or so you thought.
“look, i know that this isn’t ideal. but you fit the type that this guy is after,” jj spoke sincerely, “i talked with hotch, and we both agree that we think that it’s best if you hold the conference. it may draw him out”.
all oxygen had left your body. an icy chill shuttered down the length of your spine, your fingers and toes falling numb. the way the hairs stood on the back of your neck was sickening, making you feel like prey being hunted for sport.
“jj, i-” you started, preparing yourself to turn her down in a professional manner.
“trust me, i know how scary it is,” she stroked your arm, “but if we don’t do this now, this case is just gonna drag on and we are going to continue to lose more people”.
weeks into a gruesome case, everyone was exhausted and worn thin. you all wanted to put a criminal behind bars and return everyone home safely, but you felt miles away from that possibility.
the police station you had been working at was overflowing with officers, everyone flying in and out of rooms, falling all over each other with stacks of paper and coffee cups in hand, anxious to get this case solved.
“okay,” your hands shook, “i’ll do it”.
you and jj spoke for hours. she coached you on what to say, how to act, and what to do if things went awry. you two wrote and rewrote outlines for your very public announcement.
what was supposed to make you feel more prepared for the meeting later, ended up sinking fear and doubt deeper into your skin.
the team was waiting in an empty classroom at the local elementary school. heat radiated through the windows under the mercy of the summer sun, journalists and reporters flooded into the gymnasium in hopes to get a seat to witness the fbi’s latest statement.
you sat on one of the desks in the small, uncomfortably warm classroom. your mind was racing, your heart beating in competition to keep up with it. you tried to breathe deep, to fill your lungs with confidence and release the doubt that plagued your thoughts. but the more you inhaled and exhaled, the more you found yourself coming up short of breath.
the thick air of the classroom laced itself around you, pulling itself tighter until it suffocated you. beads of sweat threatened to form on your forehead as you felt your vision tunneling. you hopped up off the desk, shaking your hands out as you hurried into the empty hallway.
the sound of your heels clacking on the floor reverberated off the walls as you paced. the pattern on the linoleum was dizzying as it moved beneath your feet.
“are you alright?”
your head turned. spencer approached you from the end of the hallway, his tall, lean figure highlighted by the obnoxiously fluorescent lights above you.
“spencer, what do i do?” your voice teetered on cracking as you slid down the wall next to you, your back brushing against the lockers as you pressed your face to your knees.
“may i ask what you’re afraid of?” he spoke genuinely, taking a seat next to you.
“i’m afraid of messing up and saying something stupid, or forgetting what i’m supposed to say and sounding stupid,” you ran your fingers through your hair, gently tugging at the roots, “i’m afraid of saying the wrong thing and getting another young woman killed. i’m afraid of this guy coming after me. i’m afraid someone is gonna ask a question i have no idea how to answer. i’m afraid of freaking out and embarrassing myself in front of all of those people”.
“hey, he’s not gonna go after you,” spencer stopped you from pulling at your scalp, “and you’ll do great. you know more about this case than anyone else, you’ve been reciting information about it to the precinct for weeks. you shouldn’t worry about stumbling over a word, you’re an eloquent speaker. and if this does add another victim to our board, you know it won’t be your fault”.
you lifted your head to look at spencer, your hands still in his. his big, brown eyes bore into yours. a painting of worry, and sickening sweetness, framed his face. care and kindness poured from his soul in a way that almost made you nauseous to think about.
you groaned, throwing your head back against the lockers behind you, “stop making me believe in myself. it’s corny”.
spencer laughed, feigning disbelief, “i just gave you an uplifting speech!”
a door at the end of the hallway creaked open, hotch peaked his head out and called to you, “it’s time for you to go”.
you pressed your forehead to spencer’s shoulder, “you’re sure i’ve got this?”
he smiled, “i’m sure”.
“thank you,” you sighed deeply, “i feel like i’m gonna throw up all over your shoes”.
“come on,” spencer stood up, reaching his hands out to pull you to your feet, “we’ll walk you in there”.
the elementary school gym was filled to the brim, guests overflowing through the doors into the parking lot. loud chatter occupied the space, the air buzzing with heat and anticipation.
you took a deep breath, entering the double doors to stand behind the podium.
shouts erupted from the audience. people struggling to refrain from jumping out of their seats, cameras flashing, shuttering, spewing clacking sounds that mocked their owner. the already loud room grew with noise, voices climbing up walls and swinging from the ceiling, pummeling your sensitive eardrums.
a wave of cold rushed over you, your body tensing as you stood behind the small black microphone. a small yelp of feedback echoed as you placed your hands on the sealed wood of the podium. you tried to control the fear in your eyes, needing to put a mask of professionalism on in front of a crowd of animals.
“good afternoon,” you started, “as of 5:00pm today, we are still looking for the subject that has committed these heinous acts”.
the crowd erupted once again. insults were thrown at you, and you wouldn’t be surprised if chairs were to join that mix soon.
“we have been utilizing every force of manpower we have for several weeks now. our officers are spread thin, but we are working overtime to make sure this we can get this case closed and bring everyone home safely,” your hands were shaking in front of you. a sense of false confidence had gotten you this far, but as the atmosphere of the gymnasium started to sink in, your breath caught up with you.
“we have no further updates at this time,” you cleared your throat, trying to remain unbothered by the incessant yelling and flashing lights, “but we are continuing our search”.
a queasy feeling started to overtake you as the volume of the crowd became unbearable. shouts became deafening, camera clicks echoed the kickback of a gun, and you had to blink to make sure the walls weren’t actually closing in around you.
you knew that your silence had gone on for too long now, but you couldn’t shake the feeling that there was a tightening rope around your neck. your mind went blank in a white, hot explosion of panic.
“we,” you tried to breathe deep, but it came out sounding more like a hiccup, “we will not be taking”.
you cleared your throat again, feeling like the floor had just opened up beneath you, “we will not be taking any questions at this time”.
you rushed yourself off of the stage, bursting through the double doors again, pulling at the ends of your hair as you choked on hot tears.
the fabric of your blouse fluttered at the pace of the rising and falling of your chest. you unbuttoned it slightly, tearing off your blazer as you practically fell into the nearest classroom.
your ears burned, your face burned, everything burned and stung and started to shut down as you stumbled your way through the room, catching yourself on a desk.
you hunched over, panting, trying to pull your mind from the depths of the sea of thoughts it was drowning in, but no amount of deep breathing was going to keep it afloat.
“hey,” spencer hurried in after you, running over to hold you up, “are you okay?”
“i screwed up,” you gasped, his touch the only thing reminding you you’re still alive.
“breathe,” he ordered, turning to face you, “breathe with me”.
you gripped his forearms tightly, locking eyes. he was worried, but his gaze remained calm, grounded here with you. he slowly breathed in through his nose and out through his mouth, keeping a steady pace that didn’t feel as much like a wild animal thrashing around as before.
the room around you began to return, no longer as dark and blurry as before. you felt real in your skin again, the sensation of spencer’s pulse beneath your fingertips gluing you in reality. the fear of looming unconsciousness escaped you as oxygen filled your lungs once again.
as you came back to yourself, the guilt and embarrassment set in. you fought the tears welling in your eyes.
“i messed up, spencer,” you choked back a whine, looking to the floor in shame.
“it really wasn’t as bad as you think,” spencer leaned in, pulling you to his chest, gently, “towards the end you froze up a little, but i don’t think anyone would have noticed”.
“i forgot like half of what jj instructed me to say,” you sniffled, “that girl could die because i didn’t inform the public of necessary information”.
spencer ran his fingers through your hair, “you told the public all the information that could be potentially helpful. there’s not all that much we can go on, and that’s not your fault”.
you swore under your breath, feeling yourself breaking in his arms, “i feel awful”.
the tears flowed as fast as they came, hot and ugly and full of embarrassment.
spencer’s hand rubbed soft circles on your back, “i don’t want to tell you how to feel, but it shouldn’t be awful. regardless of how you think you did, i’m proud of you for getting up there and doing it. so, please, don’t beat yourself up over it”.
“we both know that’s a promise i can’t keep,” you tearfully chuckled, looking up at spencer, “thank you. for those few seconds that i felt like i stood a chance, that confidence came from you”.
“so my uplifting speech was uplifting?” he asked, smiling bashfully.
you jokingly smacked his chest, “i guess you could say that”.

CHAPTER 1 EP 3
Male reader (STILL being mistaken as a woman but then corrects everyone)
|| violent themes,cussing,mention of one genital ||
Masterlist of greed series :: 💵💲
Word count: 1.1k
This was quite the situation. You found yourself with the Straw Hat Pirates as they prepared to leave the island, heading back to the ship, but your mind was clouded. You wrestled with a dilemma—should you use these people for information, resources, or simply for the fun of it all? Yet, amidst the self-serving thoughts, an odd idea crept in. What if you actually wanted to stay with them? Go with them for real?
You shook your head, dismissing the foolish notion with a laugh. “Ridiculous,” you muttered, refocusing your thoughts. The mission was clear—gather what you could from them: information, goods, and maybe a little amusement. Yet, it seemed your behavior hadn’t gone unnoticed, particularly by that blonde-haired cook who had been watching you a bit too closely.
“Oh, my sweet!” Sanji called out dramatically, his heart-shaped eyes practically glowing as he strutted toward you. “Is something troubling you? Perhaps someone? I would be honored to help you with whatever you desire!~” His flirtatious tone was unmistakable as he approached with a skip in his step.
You raised an eyebrow at him, suppressing a chuckle. "What was your name again? I never caught it. Besides ‘ero cook.’" You quipped, teasing him.
Sanji’s eyes widened, and with a flamboyant twirl, he practically sang, “Ohhh, Mellorine! Is it possible you’re interested in me?~♡ It's Sanji, my divine lady, at your service!” He knelt before you dramatically, professing his undying admiration as if he were ready to propose on the spot.
Before you could react further, the swordsman, Zoro, rolled his eyes and opened his mouth, clearly preparing to hurl insults at the lovestruck cook. You raised your hand, signaling Zoro to stop. His frown deepened, but he relented, closing his mouth begrudgingly.
You smirked slightly, thinking about how gullible this Sanji was. You could probably get all kinds of favors from him without much effort. Still, you were tired of playing this game. Time to put an end to it. "Sanji," you started, a deadpan expression settling on your face, "I have some news that you’re really not going to like."
Sanji, who had been stacking crates while still sneaking glances at you, froze. His eyes widened in concern. “What’s wrong, my dear? Is something troubling you? No matter, you will always be perf—"
"I'm a dude," you interrupted flatly, not allowing him to finish. The revelation hung in the air as Sanji stiffened, his eyes widening further in shock. It was as though Medusa herself had turned him to stone.
"P-pardon...?" he stammered, his cigarette almost falling from his lips. You kept your tone emotionless. "I’m a man. A he, a him, I have a dick."
Sanji's world shattered in an instant. He collapsed to the ground, hitting his head repeatedly, wailing in despair. "I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN!!!" he cried pathetically. Zoro, now unable to hold back, burst into laughter, clutching his stomach.
“BWAHAHA! You got played, ero-cook!” Zoro sneered, finding immense pleasure in the cook’s misery.
"SHUT UP!" Sanji barked through his sobs, and the two were instantly at each other’s throats, their foreheads smashing together in anger. Their argument grew louder and louder until, with a sharp crack, Nami smacked both of them on the head, knocking them to the ground.
“Honestly,” Nami sighed, hands on her hips. She then turned to you, her tone apologetic. “Sorry about their stupidity.”
"Ah, no worries," you replied, trying to avoid the same fate as Sanji and Zoro, their heads still throbbing from Nami's hit.
As they continued to prepare for departure, a blue-haired woman—Neferati Vivi—helped with the final arrangements. You stayed back, organizing a few things. When it seemed they were almost ready to leave, you tried to excuse yourself. "It seems you’re leaving. Well, I suppose this is goodbye—"
You didn’t get to finish your sentence as Luffy suddenly grabbed your hand, dragging you along. “Come on, you’re coming with us!” he shouted enthusiastically.
"Huh? Wait—"
"Luffy, we can’t just trust him right away!" the crew protested, voices rising in disbelief. Nami, who was usually the voice of reason, sighed but gave in as soon as you pulled out a bag of berri.
"AH YES, YOU’RE ACCEPTED!" she sang, gladly accepting the money with a smile.
"NOT YOU TOO, NAMI!" the rest of the crew groaned in unison, sweat dropping as Luffy continued to pull you toward the ship.
As the group raced to escape the approaching marine ships, you were quickly swept aboard the Going Merry. The reindeer doctor, Chopper, hovered nearby, clearly curious about you but too shy to engage immediately. You felt a vibration from your silk robes—a call. Excusing yourself from the group, you answered your Den Den Mushi.
“Do you copy, Commander Greed?” came a voice from the other end, formal and precise.
“Don’t call me Commander,” you replied coldly. “Yes, I copy.”
The marine on the other line gave a quick update about Alabasta and your unexpected situation aboard the Straw Hat’s ship. “The Gorosei have requested that you gather as much information as possible,” they finished, emphasizing the importance of the mission.
Treasure was promised if you succeeded. The offer made you smile. This would be an interesting journey indeed.
Returning to the crew, you caught the eye of Robin, the raven-haired woman you’d saved earlier. She smiled kindly and waved, and for a moment, the tension eased. But it didn’t last long. Usopp, the sniper, approached, clearly nervous about interviewing you. However, the more you responded in your commanding tone, the more panicked he became, cutting the interview short with a look of sheer terror.
Chopper, hugging Zoro’s leg, exclaimed, “Amazing! He managed to pressure Usopp into quitting!”
Zoro, glaring at you suspiciously, muttered, “He seems like trouble.” His eyes never left you, watching your every move as if you were a threat.
You smirked and approached him. “Greetings again. If you don’t remember, the name’s Greed.”
Zoro barely acknowledged you. “Zoro. Now leave me alone,” he replied coldly, clearly unimpressed. Winning over this crew was going to be a challenge, but you loved a good challenge.
As the sun set and the sky painted itself in shades of orange and pink, you stood near the ship’s railing, lost in thought. The serene scene was interrupted by a gentle poke on your leg. Looking down, you saw Chopper nervously fidgeting.
“Uh... Greed-sama? Could I ask you a favor?” Chopper asked timidly.
You softened your expression and smiled. "Sure, Chopper. What is it?"
He shyly led you to the back of the ship, and before you knew it—SPLAT—a pie hit your face. Usopp’s laughter rang through the air as Chopper chuckled nervously beside him. The prank was obvious, but your patience had limits. Slowly wiping the cream from your face, you glared at Usopp, who immediately fainted out of fear.
This was definitely going to be a long adventure.

Lunacy
by TwitchyLitteFerret @phantomgrimalkin on Ao3
Harry bit his lip, "Er - you said your parents were friends with mine? Both of them?"
Arty sucked in a breath, looking around to see if anyone was listening, "I only know my da, er, Professor Lupin, he's told me some about my other dad-" he scratched his cheek and frowned at Harry, "but he only ever calls him Padfoot."
Harry’s eyes widened and he gestured for Arty to go with him into the stacks. He pulled out the map once they were more hidden, tapping it and saying "I solemnly swear that I'm up to no good".
