Let's Art!

The idea of creating things to inspire others has consumed my waking hours so much recently, that after only two months since I picked up a pencil and started drawing, I have decided to commit to art for real.

In deciding this, I went and ordered a pen tablet and finally installed CSP for the first time, which you can see the results of my untrained mouse-hand, below (yay!). I want to become like those who encouraged me to chase my dreams.

This probably sounds pretty silly, but it truly is a big deal for me, and it was far from an easy one; to even begin to share my sketches, I had to make an alternate account; something anonymous where I could make a fool of myself while not being so embarrassed that I quit.

There are so many exciting plans rattling around for things like comics and animations, you have no idea; it feels like I've uncorked a bottle of creativity that I had stowed away since my childhood.

I’d just love to share everything with you, exactly how I see it - but that requires skills that I don’t yet have, and developing them is going to be an undoubtedly long process, with many lessons to be learned along the way.

Edit: not to mention life's challenges, such as health, which is seemingly going to be an ongoing thing from now on. I like to think I can power through it with positivity (and that's mostly what I want to bring to the table with this alias), but to be real is to share my struggles, also.

If you’d like to follow my journey, you can probably expect mostly pony-related content & crossovers, as it was members of the MLP community whom inspired me to begin with, and I’d love others to feel the same way about it as I do.

There will definitely be some internet- and gaming-culture stuff, and probably even some sci-fi, fantasy, and horror mixed in, as I’m a sucker for those, too!

As far as I can tell, right now I am the only “SkyfarerDraws” anywhere, so you can use that to find me. I’m going to try and avoid having messy text posts here, and instead include annotations in the content itself, if I think it needs it. This is what I do in my sketchbook.

If you want to get more personal, I recommend following me on Twitter, which is also where I'll be posting highlights and interacting with the community. I do have a Twitch channel of the same name, but I’m not sure how much I’ll be using it. At least to begin with.

Stay tuned here for (hopefully) regular posts including all of my progress, especially my most embarrassing creations! I believe that witnessing others' struggles helps us humanize them, and in realizing that we’re more alike than we thought we were, we can accomplish similar things; all it takes is trying!

To that end, I’m going to remain as unfiltered as I possibly can, with the hope that others out there can somehow benefit from my existence in this world... That’s all I’ve ever wanted, and it would be the greatest achievement of my life if I could make a difference in someone else's.

Wow, I'm tearing up. Don’t cry, don’t cry. Ah!

Realistically, I don’t know what I’m capable of at this point. But I figure that if you take the time to find your wings, the sky becomes your playground -- and for those who can fly, the sky has no limits!
