But I'm gonna go with the thought that-- no, I don't think he bleached his hair. I think he really is that blond... His eyebrows look very strawberry blond in this image here, prior to getting cooked over-easy and you can also see his roots are pretty natural looking? With all the detail the devs put into this game, I would assume they would have added some different colored roots to show that sort of thing, but I could also be wrong!

Also, kinda would be hard to keep up with keeping your roots nice and bleached when the world is dying all around you, y'know? Also, take it from someone who has a lot of red in their hair, and has friends who are redheads: Bleaching wouldn't make it nice and pale like this. It would make it... super saiyan yellow. Cartoonishly yellow. Even if you bleach it repeatedly, it wouldn't be this nice and light!

As for texture, considering he was only created to be used and discarded? I don't think Geppetto cared to put any love and attention to his hair. Just enough to emulate how he used to look, but that's strictly my thoughts and theory, at that point.

REGARDLESS, I adore the idea that he was naturally a redhead and spent so long painstakingly bleaching it! - I know I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again (cuz Padme had some glorious curls), Luke has a thing for natural curls like his father before him.

Venandi don't actually groom each other/themselves as a means of literal bathing, it's mostly just an expression of affection (like how real cats will lick another one on the head when they cuddle), so don't worry, Edix isn't washing Jacob with his spit or anything. He gets a nice sink bath every couple of days.

The more the Venandi learn about humans during their studies, the better Edix is able to take care of Jacob. It's pretty obvious there's tons of similarities between their species, but y'know, you can't always assume with aliens, whatever he uses for mouthwash might cause his pet to vomit blood. Jacob actually takes it upon himself to chew on mint leaves in the beginning because he can't stand having a gross mouth after so long, and rinsing with water. It seems to be working fine for him, so Edix let's him continue. If he gets a cavity...sucks to suck, I guess.

Jacob already bites his fingernails as a nervous habit so there's no issue with them being too long, and even if they were, they're too tiny for Edix to do anything about them. Just let 'em break naturally. Jacob tries to brush his hair to the best of his abilities with his fingers until he gets something similar to a pick comb from Ylva since its what she uses for Mibao's textured hair, which is better than nothing.

Technically in their current story, Jacob isn't wearing any of his original clothes anymore aside from his jacket. He now wears a specially made full body suit thanks to Venandi textile technology after Ylva gave him a bath when he was first given his medicine. If that outfit gets worn out for whatever reason, another one can be printed off for him in no time.

Yeah, unfortunately, Jacob is just straight up vegetarian at this point because no fucking way is he eating any meat he can't identify as coming from earth, and that still has yet to be determined WHICH earth animal it came from. Luckily, he does slightly broaden his range to a few foreign fruits that looks appealing enough and/or are shoved into his mouth by Mibao, which contain some of the vitamins and minerals he's otherwise missing. It's not a whole lot and he's fairly underweight even for his stature as a result, but it's better than being starved entirely. Kinda. Definitely anemic and vitamin D deficient.

So, about curly hair care…

So @evilpenguinrika and I were talking briefly about this and I realize that so many of us curlies are in the trenches when it comes to hair care, mostly due to popularized misinformation.

I spent the majority of my life not going natural because I was overwhelmed with the thought of managing my hair myself. If I knew years ago what I know now, it would have changed my life. 🥲 But, since it’s never too late to see the light, I wanna share things I’ve learned from actual curl professionals (NOT Hairfluencers/Youtubers) about simplified healthy curly hair maintenance!

Basically, you only need three things for a bomb style with your curls:

shampoo and conditioner at least every 7 days

a good water-based gel or holding mousse applied to detangled wet hair to set your curls

hooded dryer or hand blow dryer with diffuser attached to dry your hair after setting it

And dassit.

How do you shampoo curly hair?

You get your hair sopping wet in the shower, like, make sure you spend a few minutes just letting the water run over and through your hair. Then, you take the shampoo and work it in by smoothing it through your hair from root to tip. You know those commercials where they have a woman piling all her hair up on top of her head and rubbing? Yeah, us curlies shouldn’t be doing that. It makes the detangling step even worse! 😵‍💫

How do you detangle?

After adding conditioner to completely saturated hair, take a detangling brush and work your way from root to tip. Then you rinse. This is called “active conditioning” because you’re working the conditioner in instead of just slapping it on your hair to sit. Any shed strands will be collected in the brush to prevent drain clogs, and your curls will be defined without any “fairy knots” (single strand knots).

How do I keep my curls moisturized?

Making sure you wash it regularly; don’t go longer than a week without a shampoo. Moisture is water. If your hair is dry, just hop in the shower and cleanse it, then restyle. Also, it’s best not to towel-dry your hair; more water in your strands before you set your look is key to a lasting style!

How do I style curly hair?

However you want to! But if you’re looking for a basic “wash & go”, all you need is a mousse or water-based hair gel to put in your wet hair after the shower to define your curls and give them hold until you wash again. If you don’t want your hair to be frizzy, sit under a dryer after application until fully dry.

Please note that any other products (oils, creams, leave-in conditioner/treatments) aren’t needed, and may even be working directly against your hair goals.

Yeah. 🥲 I’d say the vast majority of specialty products hawked to those with curly/kinky hair are not needed. For example, if you want luscious, defined clumps of curls, you won’t get that with leave in conditioners or butters or creams. Raw oils actually just coat your hair strand, which makes it shiny but also makes it waterproof and negatively affects scalp conditions. You have to clarify all of that out of your hair regularly in order to get moisture into your strands, so it’s better to just leave them on the shelves.

Hair care should be simple, and it is! Most people just need a consistent wash cycle with quality hair products in order to see drastic results they thought they would only get after numerous expensive hair treatments.

What are some quality hair products?

Basically look for stuff that doesn’t have butters & oils in the first five ingredients. Having SOME formulated into hair products is good, but not to the point where it’s the main draw of the product. It’s not the oils and butters that will help your curls, it’s the cleansing and hydration from water that does! Quality products may have a higher price tag, but you don’t need to use a whole lot per wash so a little goes a long way! I wash my hair every 3-5 days and the bottles of shampoo/conditioner I bought a year and a half ago are still going strong. ☺️

Also keep in mind that technique is key; if you don’t give yourself time to acquire the skill of managing curly hair to be its best, you could have the best products in the world and still be in shambles. This is where curl specialists come in, who offer workshops and consultations to teach you how to manage your hair at home so you end up saving a ton of time and money without all the guesswork.

Hi, hello! I saw you have your matchups open so if it's okay I would like to request a romantic matchup with Twisted Wonderland <3 You are so sweet and amazing for doing these!

I am a cute, poetic, caring, and sweet person who knows how to listen actively and hold a one-on-one conversation, often getting people to open up more than they expected, otherwise I'm pretty reserved. If I was transported to a magical school, I would do my best to learn the theory and practicalities of magic, even if I couldn't actually cast spells, and try to excel in other scientific fields (and Mozus Trein would definitely be my favourite professor). I have a great interest in the occult (my library is something I'm very proud of) and psychology, but I'm truly interested in all types of knowledge and books. When I go to the used book stores, I can spend hours there, as I go through war, occult, philosophy, science, comics, fantasy, poetry, and all other categories of books, except sports and cooking. I also love music: opera, metal, neofolk, electronic, and all of them together.

I love crafting and learning new things, but I'm most interested in historical and folk crafts, like nålbinding, embroidery, weaving in many forms, making jewelry from bones and other things found in nature, and more! I love making stuff and seeing that I have finished something, that I've made something.

I have a rough history with mental illness and trauma, making me prone to getting overwhelmed easily, and I have to calm and ground myself. I often feel out of touch with my body, like my spirit is a feet out of me. One thing that works is a tight hug and closeness. I'm also very submissive by nature and other ways, so I really need someone who is sure of themselves and also accepting. I don't need pity, I need a helping hand and someone I can rely on.

Other small things: I can play erhu, dance butoh, bellydance, and few different folk dances, I've practiced tai chi with fan, my newest obsession is fountain pens (there's TWST pens by Sailor, but they're so expensive!), I can't eat meat or onions, I always wear a red bow on my head, mostly because it keeps my curly hair out of my face but also because it's just part of me now just like my red lipstick, I only wear dresses (comfy, cute, always fits any occasion), I have blue eyes, and my favourite animal is fox.

Right off the bat, it was hard to actually get into a relationship with him to begin with. With all of his duties that he has to Kalim, his duties as a vice housewarden, his school and club activities. Plus the belief that he doesn't deserve the happiness that would come from having a relationship, not wanting to burden his partner with the burden that he shares as serving the Al-Asim family (please, this boy needs so much love, it's not even funny)

Then you come along and pretty much destroy all of that. It really threw him in for a loop.

Honestly, just the feeling of someone caring for him after such a long day of making sure that the rich idiot doesn't die or make any stupid decisions, just makes him melt. Having your arms around him after such a long day as he is able to just unload everything from the day, knowing that you are listening with full attention brings more comfort than you may ever know.

He keeps a few red bows lined in his pockets and in his room just in case there was a very rare event that you had forgotten to put it on that day. It had grown on him, and it was a part of you, much like the small beads in his hair were a part of him.

Speaking of hair, he honestly loves to be able to do yours. it is so different from his own. Jamil is a very fast learner. By the end of the day, he knows more about curly hairstyles and how to work with them and he has a wonderful woman to be able to try said styles on.

There was a time where he took you on a small trip to the Scalding Sands, and seeing you dressed in the traditional clothing from his home country had this man feeling all sorts of things as he couldn't help how his cheeks warmed upon seeing you.... yes, Najma teased him relentlessly for it. And yes.... he bought you several of those dresses to take back to campus with you.

Jamil is 100% someone you can rely on (and there is no hidden meaning to what he is doing, not with you). When things are far too overwhelming for you, he is there to simply hold onto you, giving you the reassurance that you need. He will help you and guide you through what it is that is troubling you in no time. This man has plenty of experience.

Overall, you brought a light and happiness into his life that he did not know that he needed. Now that he has it, he doesn't want to let go, he grows a bit greedy for your affection. After all, it is something that is just for him and he finally doesn't have to share. He thanks you everyday for coming into his life and just putting up with him.

love how you draw hair do you have any headcanons when it comes to hair?

Jackie - I love so much about Jackie and her hair in canon. She cares a lot about it and doesn't let anyone mess with it. When she takes out her scrunchie, it's big and beautiful and by Inez's own words "cool." Not really to do with her hair but I love imagining/drawing her scrunchie as more bow/butterfly like than it is. I already like drawing her hairbun bigger than it is, but I really have to do to compensate for the bow, hahaha. Jackie definitely has the best hair of the main three and probably of anyone in the show. She takes great care and pride in it. It's like one of her many hobbies, her many passions. Her hair is a part of her identity. I hc she would never straighten her hair and the most, ig "extreme" thing she does with it is dye a stripe in it. I like to think as she gets older she gets more bold with hairstyles she tried. I'm still learning about hair with afro texture along with my own hair type so I love thinking about Jackie and her 'do.

Matt - Takes surprisingly good care of his hair. You don't get nice curls like his unless you at least try to upkeep. He really only takes care of his hair bc he feels bad when his mom has to help him, and he feels he looks weird if breaks the curls. He doesn't really care if his hair gets messed up, though. If it's windy or raining or he falls into some mud, well, then them's the breaks. He also really doesn't want anyone to know how much work he puts into his hair. At 11, he's still actively trying to avoid anything that makes him seem too "girly."

Inez - Her hair is naturally wavy, not curly, but wavy. She brushes it out and her mom will straighten her hair. They use protective sprays so it won't damage her hair. When it gets too humid it'll frizz, just like in the show. She straightens her hair just bc it makes it easier to maintain for her. Plus she likes the little outward flip her mom gives the ends of her hair.

Slider - Thick hair with volume but no real curls. He doesn't take care of it so it tends to get greasy, which actually gives it an appealing shine and shape. He's a lucky son of a gun because he'll get up and do nothing to it yet people swoon over it. The most he does is a frequent trim just so it doesn't go past his shoulder, which is why he has a bit of an awkward straight cut at the ends.

Creech - Yes, that's her natural color. I imagine her hair doesn't have real strands but is one mass on her head bc of the markings on it. It's like a doll with rubber hair but maybe much softer. She doesn't have to take care of it at all except for the occasional polish! It takes a lot of work to change her hairstyle which is why it's such a simple bob when she's little.

Shari - I'll be honest, I can't make heads or tails of her hair. They're probably supposed to be dreads or braids but it's so stylized it's almost impossible to see. Her bangs look flat, so it makes all the other strands feel flat to me. If she were borg [or, at least if I saw her as borg] I'd say they're computer ribbons. They're more than likely dreads or braids, though, which I think I've read are styles that can be worn a long time with low maintenance. Sounds perfect for the busy magic student!

Wicked - Big beautiful red hair and you better believe she takes good care of that shi. It has big waves, not curls, partly because they're being weighed down by the sheer amount of it. Her hair is surprisingly low maintenance, but there are days where even magic can't save it. I actually don't have a lot to say about her hair but... I'm love it... I'm love she. 🥺Oh, also the way I draw her bangs is inspired by Ariel, hahaha!
