It is critical to show teenagers that there is money for college to be made HELPING animals rather than sending them to slaughter like in traditional FFA and 4H programs. Our LEAP humane education program has expanded to six Northern California sanctuaries and has 31 high school students involved! For the kids' final project this spring, they'll be preparing a vegan meal and designing an educational tour for friends and family to showcase what they've learned this year and practice their public speaking and advocacy skills. Students receive a scholarship at the end of the year, and we are still in need of two and a half scholarships! If you or your company are able to donate a scholarship ($1000) or a half scholarship ($500) we would be so grateful and it would allow us to continue offering the program to these very deserving young people! Can't donate right now? Please share with your colleagues, friends, or family and anyone who believes programs like @leap4animals are worth finding for a more compassionate, sustainable world. Give at the link in bio, by check, or Venmo @blackberrycreek Questions? These two LEAP students did an impressive job handling sanctuary chores in the rain today! Leadership means fulfilling your responsibilities even when it’s not easy, and we didn’t hear one complaint out of them as they worked their bums off for four hours in a downpour making sure the animals had dry, clean barns and coops in the storm! THAT’s dedication. 💪 @leap4animals @israya__wilson @_the_traveling_foodie_ (at Blackberry Creek Farm Animal Sanctuary) https://www.instagram.com/p/CnfyrxLPa4b/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

We have the BEST team of supporters!!! You all blew the roof off #givingtuesday, surpassing our $4000 goal for a total across all platforms of $6912! That means the entire matching amount will be given as well, bringing the total to $10,912 for the animals! This will help fund veterinary bills for George’s lump removal, Oscar’s surgery and hospitalization, and some upcoming medical needs of our residents along with buying the cows their December hay and helping provide vegan lunches and educational materials to our @leap4animals students! Thank you for following along, donating, encouraging, and supporting the work of our non-profit. We are grateful for each and every one of you. Also a very special thanks to @dedicateddesigns and our two anonymous matching donor families for giving so generously and encouraging others to give as well. #thankyou #grateful #animalsanctuary #nonprofit #loveoneanother (at Blackberry Creek Farm Animal Sanctuary) https://www.instagram.com/p/Clm4HKiJ0ZK/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Had so much fun with five of our LEAP students yesterday spending the afternoon taking care of the animals! Bella, Kendall, Leah, Jason, and IsRaya took a day of their Thanksgiving break to come clean chicken coops, duck houses, work in the garden, give the animals some love, and scoop 💩. Duncan loves these rad humans (not just because they bring him bananas) and wanted his picture with them! ♥️🐮 @leap4animals @healthyveganfood101 @kendallstoner22 @israya__wilson @bellawidrin (at Blackberry Creek Farm Animal Sanctuary) https://www.instagram.com/p/ClT1gN4Jeoq/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

It was so delightful to be able to welcome Stephanie Mathers with @grants4animals to @blackberrycreek today for a tour and some long-awaited animal ambassador snuggles! Stephanie is a vegan activist and works SO hard for animals, benefitting them in a myriad of ways through writing grants for non-profits that support animal rights, permanent sanctuary, humane education, spay/neuter programs, and overall animal welfare. She is currently helping us write grants to launch @leap4animals nationwide and though we’ve been working closely virtually the past few months, it was a joy and privilege to finally get to meet her in person! #animalwrlfare #animalrights #blackberrycreek #farmanimalsanctuary #bekind #loveoneanother #veganactivist #vegan #veganfortheanimals #leap (at Blackberry Creek Farm Animal Sanctuary) https://www.instagram.com/p/Ck94PRRLbqh/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

LEAPers Kendall (left) and Leah learn to do a post-surgery bandage change on rescued turkey, Helen Sturkie. We are thrilled to have these two responsible, dedicated, compassionate young women back in LEAP for the 2022-2023 school year after participating in the pilot program last year. Each one of the six participating sanctuaries is raising funds for scholarships for their students, vegan lunches at the monthly classes, staffing to run LEAP at their sanctuary, and hands-on workshop materials. You can donate to the LEAP program here at @blackberrycreek at the link in our bio and help give teenagers a compassionate alternative to 4H and FFA programs. 💛 @leap4animals @kendallstoner22 @healthyveganfood101 #leapforanimals #changemakers #animalcare #veganfood #environmentalstewardship #leadership #kindnessinaction (at Blackberry Creek Farm Animal Sanctuary) https://www.instagram.com/p/CjtmJlvPhy-/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Repost from @leap4animals • All 3 LEAP sanctuaries gathered today for our first all-sanctuary workshop at @jamesonhumane 🤩 The May workshop topic was all about equines. 🐴 Jameson’s horse vet, Dr. Vanessa, and equine care manager, Lauren, explained the vast and complex world of equine veterinary care, daily care and diet, adoptions and rescue, and the plight of the horse. (Did you know that the average horse will have 6-7 owners in their 25+ year lifetime?) Of course, horse meet-n-greets were the most integral part of the day! …as was the awesome Tex-mex vegan lunch provided by Jameson’s very own RVT, Kathryn 🌮😋 As our LEAP pilot program enters its final few weeks, we will be launching into project time, where students will give presentations or make videos discussing topics on animal care and welfare. Stay tuned for more! #leapforanimals #jamesonhumane #rescuedhorses #humaneeducation #horsetherapy #animalovers #napavalley #leap4animals (at Jameson Animal Rescue Ranch) https://www.instagram.com/p/CdoOBVTJ67k/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Repost from @ranchocompasion • Congratulations to the 12 students who will be participating in our Spring Pilot Program! 🥳✨ Our “kickoff” meeting was held this past Sunday, and tonight we will hold our first virtual education session. The topic will be “Modern Animal Agriculture”: an overview of what modern animal ag is, how we got here, and what the issues are surrounding it. We will also be covering speciesism and the ethics of eating non-human animals. Over 15 high schoolers from 4 counties applied to join our program, and we couldn’t be more grateful to have such a wide reception! We saw students from all walks of life—current 4H-ers, future veterinarians, children of ranchers—who all said the same thing when they applied: they care about animals and want to make a difference. 💗 🐐 🌱 For anyone interested in joining us in the Fall, donating for the scholarship fund, or volunteering their services or expertise, we will be updating our website with the appropriate forms soon, but until then, feel free to email us! 🏷 🏷 🏷 #leapchangemakers #animalovers #humaneeducation #leap4animals #blackberrycreekfarmanimalsanctuary #ranchocompasión #jamesonhumane @ranchocompasion @leap4animals @jamesonhumane https://www.instagram.com/p/CZhn7jEPzXf/?utm_medium=tumblr
