Devlog 2024/10/01

Started drawing the first panel! I'm about halfway through. Moon 0 will probably have about 6 art-primary panels, and a few more that are mostly text.

Did scripting for the same post over the last 48 hours

New worldbuilding! Chimereons. See this post for how they work

Updated the Wheeldecide to have a Chimereon slice, as well as more slices for other types roughly equal to the proportions of each -eon the Clan wants.

Right now, that gives Chimereon a 1/16 chance of being rolled. If/when the wheel lands on Chimereon, I will roll twice more. Those 2 morphs will make up our anomaly <3

(In the event Chimereon lands AGAIN, I'll roll for THREE -eon types! That'll be the day)

A comment on the types rolled so far. Not a single Leafeon has been rolled, and I find that hilarious. NO leafcats in our house! Kept one on the Wheel because we gotta have some chance at rolling it, but Red does NOT like it!!! I let founder proportions & environmental/niche demands dictate the new slice numbers.

Oh yes, forgot! I changed what the group will be called in canon. I'll get into it one day when I'm sure what I'm settling on

__________ Summoning gear: -leafcat: cooked shrimps, one of his boyfriend’s flannels, bath soaks, an interesting bauble, a hot coffee generously sweetened with honey and creamed with soymilk. if you wanted more of a magical tie to him than the equivalent of shaking a bag of treats, then use a sprig of poison ivy, a carved wooden heart, some lynx fur, something from his boyfriend (a used mug will work you don’t need to pull his hair), and an oat salve. -miriam*: a drop of blood (as long as it isn’t rh+), an easily pocketed item worth a considerable amount of money (the amount depends on who’s summoning - the important part is that it is considerable to you. a poor man summoning him wouldn’t need to offer the hope diamond, but a wealthy man might), a disguise kit (really, a high quality makeup set would do, but the more the better), a nice piece of non-piercing jewelry (the pocketable item does not count towards this),  a piece of paper with the lyrics to a forgotten old song written on it. -tabby: lock-picks, an item you made yourself from scavenged materials, a fermented food or drink, a coil of rope, and something from your surroundings that could be useful (like when you find a fallen branch that’s the perfect size + sturdiness to serve as a walking stick, or a key found buried in junk) *you cannot summon him during the day unless you are in a place fully barred from sunlight, like a cave ___________ Living situations: -leafcat: moved in with his boyfriend/life partner/ unofficiated husband of several years. they have a nice n cozy small house situation, nothing super fancy but with a budget that has room for the occasional delivery dinner for when neither feels like cooking/they’re out of leftovers. sometimes little inexpensive trinkets that definitely don’t belong to them show up in their house, and it’s got nothing to do with leafcat, no sir. he definitely isnt stealing baubles as a cat when he gets bored. No, not even that little jingly bell ball toy. don’t look at him like that. -winter: as the physical manifestation of wanderlust, winter spends most of its days (and nights) on the road with a small wagon, a horse or ox to pull it, a couple of friends and enough gear to camp (relatively) comfortably overnight(day). however. it makes a point of settling in at a cozy inn/bnb or a friend’s place whenever passing through towns, because there’s no point in roughing it when a soft(er) bed is right there. It also has a small cottage (or cabin, depending on your definition) in the middle of some overgrown forest a few miles off an established road, though it doesn’t spend much time there outside of when it’s passing through the region anyways. it’s a tiny 1.5 room building (just a curtained off bedroom and a combination living room/kitchen with a fireplace instead of a stove) with a small well behind it and a low stone wall around the lot that barely holds in the overgrown weeds and herbs that obscure the path to the door. Inside the house on every available shelf and surface are small trinkets and trophies from various adventures and dives into ruins as mementos. The home was built with the help of a previous party - a few similar rest-stop type buildings are scattered here and there across the..island? landmass? (it’s not a continent, just the largest chunk of an archipelago) --anyways, they were places for the party to rest in between travels in areas where the nearest towns were more than a few days away, since at the time the group traveled those routes regularly, and they each had a sort of unofficial claim (through preference) for one of the buildings. So while bureaucratically it’s winter’s house, its doors are always open to those who travel or have traveled with winter.

“Kacchan, this could be serious! I need to make you an antidote,” it explained, insistent and matter-of-factual. “Now open up and give me some of your saliva.”

It squirmed its way up his chest again, but Katsuki was having none of it. Every time that squishy face got close, he turned to the other side. The thing squeaked and cheeped in frustration, determined to probe his mouth with its tongue.

Finally, it let out a disappointed sigh, ears shifting down.

“I guess you really won’t let me get a saliva sample, will you?”

Damn right, you stupid slug!

“That’s okay! It doesn’t have to be saliva, I guess.”

Just like that, it was worming its way back down his body, smacking him with its bushy tail in the process.

“Wait, what the fuck do you think you’re doing now?” Katsuki asked.

He had a hollow feeling in the pit of his stomach. With the same dogged persistence that it did everything with, Deku began to burrow into his trousers, squishing and contorting its way beneath the waistband. Its slime body was surprisingly flexible, letting it stretch out and crawl inside without much difficulty. Katsuki wanted to scream, but the most he could let out was a whine.

A new creature i brainstormed with Black Star on discord with!

It is the piperat, a bio-engineered creature created to clean pipes (its existence is hinted in a lore pearl). Piperats are the shared ancestor of both lantern mice and slugcats.

Notes about piperats:

1 to 1.5 feet long; compare this to slugcats, who are 3 feet tall on average.

Have thinner tails, larger eyes, and shorter ears than slugcats do.

Usually quadrupedal. Will stand up on two legs in order to reach objects or get a better view of their surroundings.

Come in various pastel colors like lantern mice do.

Hairless; they are slimy like slugs (and many slugcats) are.

About as smart as real-life rats. They are fairly social and can be taught tricks.

Only a few isolated populations of piperats still exist.

The ancestors of lantern mice and slugcats split off a very long time ago. The two species are about as closely related as foxes and wolves, and cannot hybridize.

Slugcats lost their glow, became bipedal, and became highly intelligent. Lantern mice have very similar behavior to piperats, although they are now larger, have prehensile tails, and have an intense glow.

Spidercats and leafcats (leafcats belong to Black Star) are close relatives of slugcats.
