Imperfect Crown (multi-chapter Spanche fic)

Blanche is in training to take the throne by their cruel teacher, who's only concern is that Blanche is perfect at all times. What happens when a new boy is taken as a servant? Can he teach Blanche being imperfect is better?

Chapter Six: Sharing

“Almost there…” Spark mutters to himself as he tinkers with the wire. “Come on…”

His plan comes into fruition as Blanche’s whole bedroom lights up. He laughs with glee. “YES!” He cheers.

Blanche has wide eyes as they stare at their bedroom. They’ve never seen it so bright before.

It almost looks like sunlight.

“This is amazing.” They say out loud. Spark yelps and whirls around to see Blanche in the doorway. “Your highness-I mean…Blanche.” Spark smiles nervously. “Hi.”

“Hi.” Blanche lets off a soft smile as they walk in. Spark slides down the ladder, brushing himself off. “You like it?” He asks.

“I do, very much. I can’t thank you enough.” Blanche says.

“No need.” Spark smiles. “It’s what I do. If you ever want it off, there’s a switch by the door. The bottom turns the light off, the top turns the light on.”

Blanche nods. That should be simple enough to remember.

Spark couldn’t help but study their eyes. They were the most beautiful shade of green he ever saw.

“You have nice eyes.” Spark says.

Blanche is taken aback. People have always complimented their eyes but never outright like that. “Th-Thank you.” They say, suddenly feeling bashful. “They run in my mother’s side of the family. Mother always said grandfather has the exact same eyes.”

Spark catches the look of pain in their face as Blanche talks about their mother. He grimaces. Way to go, Spark.

“I’m sorry if I brought up a tender subject, I just really think they’re nice.” Spark says.

“No, no.” Blanche quickly assures him. “I really do thank you for that kind thought.

“If it helps you feel any better, I lost my dad when I was a baby.” Spark admits. “Mom says he died of a heart attack.”

Blanche bites their lip, remembering how Candela already told them about that. “I’m sorry to hear that.” They reply, pretending not to know. “It’s something no child should ever go through.”

Spark nods. “We can agree on that.”

“Your Highness!”

Both Spark and Blanche jump at the shrill, ear grating voice. They turn and see Acantha entering, a look of irritation on her face.

“Have we forgotten today’s lesson again?” She sneers.

Blanche mentally slaps themself. They had an etiquette lesson today. They hated etiquette. It was Acantha’s most brutal class so far.

It ended with Blanche with more marks and bruises than they entered with.

“So far you’ve failed to remember your time.” Acantha scoffs. “We just had this talk the other day, Your highness. I suppose a punishment is in order.”

Spark sees Blanche clench their pants at ‘punishment’. He worries instantly.

“Maybe be lenient on them, miss.” Spark speaks up. “It’s my fault, I got caught up in talking with Blanche.”

“Even then, young man,” Acantha shoots him a glare that gives him a chill. “they should know better. Come along, Your Highness.”

Spark watches them leave, Blanche looking terrified as they leave the blond’s eyesight.

He wonders about that teacher, and is angry he can’t stop her.

I don't have much to add due to the fact that the dialogue feels fast-paced despite being nothing but text, so the gameplay experience will be interesting. Kudos on the writers for channeling that.

But, fuck me sideways: Spark is one of those mixtape guys? I love it and I'm here for it.

Miscellaneous button badges and keychains

The first two are my younger brother's that he had given me. As well with that Poro from League of Legends.

I bought that Spark badge since that's my team leader back in 2014 of a small local mlp convention funny enough (honestly I really have bad experience because it's so unpleasant going with someone who keeps pressuring to hurry up instead able to enjoy looking around)

I think that's my big sister's but she doesn't care much these kinda thing. Hot take that I prefer this design because it's very vague of its event than the first one. Honestly this badge would probably pass off a regular random key chain if there wasn't the year.

At one point of my life, I frequently visiting 7 eleven that I managed to fulfil the sticker stamp and obtain Harley Quinn.

The Le Cordon Bleu academy visit my high school and do like any typical university/college visit. We get some freebies which this one of the awesome university/college freebies.

Chapter Five: Get to Know Him

“Okay, we should line this hallway with a row of lights.” Spark states, looking at a particularly long hallway. “It looks like a pain to light all the candles in the wall. A light switch will make it easier to turn on and off.”

A servant writes a note down. “Very good, sir.” He replies.

Spark smiles at him. “Please, call me Spark.”

The servant smiles, nodding. “Very well, Spark.”

Blanche watches from around a corner, fascinated by this young man. He seemed so confident, so sure of himself and his work.

He looked like he would never let anyone push him around.

“Admiring the new guy?”

Blanche’s heart jumps into their throat as they whirl around. Relief washes over them as they see Candela.

“Don’t scare me like that!” They hiss, swatting at Candela who only laughs.

“Relax.” Candela giggles. “But he seems like a mature guy. Definitely knows way more than anyone about electricity.”

“So I saw.” Blanche replies. “Do you know anything else about him?”

“Just that he and his mom have lived in Liquara since his father died.” Candela shrugs. “They moved here for a new start or something.”

Blanche’s heart drops. So, he too knew the pain of losing a parent.

“He doesn’t deserve that.” Blanche thinks, turning their gaze back to him.

“Your highness!” A shrill voice grates their ears and makes both them and Candela jump. They look and see Acantha storming towards them, an indignant look etched upon her face.

It takes Blanche all their will not to laugh. She looks like she desperately needs the bathroom.

“Have you forgotten your math lesson is today?!” Acantha demands. “You are ten minutes late!”

“I apologize, Acantha, the time escaped me, I suppose.” Blanche bites their lip.

“Being late is most unbecoming of a perfect royal.” Acantha says in the most condescending voice. “Do you not wish to live up to the expectations of your subjects?”

“Of course I do!” Blanche gasps.

Candela glares, opening her mouth to tell Acantha what she really thought of her when Blanche holds their hand up.

“I apologize again, Acantha.” Blanche sighs, moving forward. “Let’s go.”

Acantha simply harrumphs and walks by Blanche’s side. “You really ought to not befriend the help.” She chides once they’re out of earshot of anyone. “They’re simple creatures, they do not know the pains and stress of being in your position. Plus the imperfection they show-“

Blanche sorely wants to remind Acantha that she is not in a position of a royal either and is simply a commoner. But they block out Acantha’s voice as they think about Spark.

They want to get to know him.

Prof. Willow: probably a bag, I'm a backpack boy for the space it provides and compartments

Candela: weights. She will watch me use them as weapons against Arlo as I aim them at his frontal lobe

Blanche: they like books, I like books, they'd get me a set of bookmarks or a list of recommendations (probs abt evolutionary biology)

Spark: he'd be the type to get anyone a gift bag filled with sweets. I'm a savory girly but if you give me those sour watermelon candies I'm having a ball

Giovanni: a pipe bomb on my doorstep, what a king!

Arlo: uh. He uh. I should keep this sfw but tbh I'd climb up into that stupid fucking balloon and join the 600 meter high club OSHA guidelines be damned. That's his gift to me

Cliff: a bag of buttered popcorn jelly beans (my favorite flavor) and he'd watch me tear into it before saying something like "you eat like a larvitar"
