This film is made of footage shot on the rooftop of my friend’s house at Kathmandu, Nepal. Lazimpat is the name of the street where the house is located. It’s a portrait of people, sunshine, flowers, and etc.

이 영화는 네팔 카트만두에 있는 내 ���구의 집 옥상에서 촬영한 푸티지들로 만들어졌다. 라짐파트는 그 집이 위치한 거리의 이름이다. 이 영화는 사람, 햇살, 꽃 등의 초상화다.

About Lee Jangwook

Lee Jangwook studied filmmaking at the School the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC). He has been working on film materials and expanded cinema such as live film performance. In 2004, Space Cells was founded to hold experimental films and hand-made film workshops and is currently underway. Many of the works are archived in the Korea Film Archive and ACC.

이장욱은 SAIC(School the Art Institute of Chicago)에서 필름 메이킹을 공부하였다. 주로 필름 기반의 작업과 확장된 형태의 라이브 필름 퍼포먼스 작업을 해오고 있다. 2004년에는 스페이스셀을 창립하여, 실험영화와 핸드메이드 필름 워크샵을 개최하고 현재에도 계속 진행 중이다. 다수의 작품은 한국영상자료원, ACC 등에 소장되어 있다.

Lee Jangwook is a filmmaker who reconstructs poetic images from personal memories and everyday scenes through the medium of film. He is the longest continuously working experimental filmmaker using celluloid film in South Korea. Despite his wide range of works, Lee remains a semi-reclusive figure, rarely showcasing his works to the public. 'Focus Lee Jangwook' presents his single-screen works from the 2010s that have not been widely screened, including Lazimpat and Landscape in the Afternoon, both of which have been re-edited for the 2024 ABBFF Byeongyeong Film Festival. 이장욱은 개인적 기억과 일상적 장면들을 필름이라는 매체를 통하여 시적인 이미지로 재구성하는 필름메이커이며, 대한민국에서 지속적으로 셀룰로이드 필름 실험영화를 가장 오래 제작해 온 사람이다. 이장욱은 그의 방대한 필모그래피에 비해 세상에 자신의 작품들을 거의 드러내지 않는 인물이지만 ‘포커스 이장욱’에서는 2024년 ABBFF 병영영화제를 위해 재편집된 〈라짐파트〉와 〈오후 풍경〉을 비롯한 그동안 영화제에서 잘 상영되지 않았던 그의 2010년대 싱글 스크린 작업들을 상영한다. (박규재)
