Skeleton of my masked!brothers AU that I've mapped out so far:

Everything stays the same up until the backstory of Lost Future - Layton is assaulted at 27 years old by goons as he's trying to investigate Claire's death, and winds up severely injured and briefly comatose in hospital.

Desmond hears about this from out of London and immediately travels to see him, booking a hotel near the hospital until Layton wakes up and he feels relaxed enough to return. What he doesn't know is that Layton is actually semi-conscious, and that the professor even in his comatose haze manages to register Desmond's voice and the blurry sight of him before he flees. Layton is haunted by nightmares for the entirety of his month-long stay there, both of what happened to Claire and this blurry figure that he can't quite put a name to but feels so familiar. It becomes so unbearable he greatly elongates his time spent off work to seek the man out, wanting to at least conclude one mystery.

Desmond is horrified to see his brother at the door, doubly so when his wife insists he reveal his connection to him. Due to Layton's desperation however, he does, and Layton is both incredibly overwhelmed and happy. Having another connection of family in such a hellish time gives him another lifeline to hold onto, and so he asks to keep in contact, to which Desmond hesitantly agrees.

Some time later when Layton is forced to give up on the Claire case due to intimidation, Desmond hesitantly informs him that agents of a paramilitary terrorist organization have begun threatening him, and that it would be best for Layton to cut contact for a while. Layton in fact does the opposite of this and rushes over as soon as he can... to find that Desmond's wife and young daughter have been murdered by said organization, and Desmond himself has subsequently become a depressive suicidal wreck that flits between fits of destructive rage and absolute overwhelming despair. Layton, feeling helpless and also overcome by grief by how awful the situation is, himself begins to dissociate and endeavours to take care of Desmond for as long as he can until his brother is well enough to take care of himself.

While he's out on a shopping trip for his brother, he runs into a member of that same organization - a Targent operative in uniform. He doesn't know if the man was the one who killed his niece and sister-in-law, or if the man even knows about what has happened to them, but for some reason he doesn't care. Layton feels more enraged and detached than he ever has in his entire life, nothing truly feels real, and just as he grasped at a family after losing the most important person in his life, it was wrenched away again.

When he comes to, the man is dead. Layton had killed him, not even really meaning to do so, but he remains dead nontheless. It's an irreversible action, one he would have never though himself capable of. He feels absolutely wretched, but worse than that, he can't find it in himself to feel guilt for the man's death, only that he has himself sunk to that level. He has a choice now - to turn himself in, or to not. He can't imagine leaving Desmond with nothing left in this world, so he doesn't.

At home, Desmond has collected enough of his rage to redirect it into a drive to get revenge, with the backing and unconditional love and support of his butler. He cautions Layton to leave and pretend to have never known him as to not be wrapped up in the dangerous life he is about to enter, but Layton, already feeling as though his capability to live a normal life ended the moment he took one, insists on staying with him, citing that he is himself already hated by a polticial power and thus already at risk. More to the point, he won't let his brother do something so dangerous alone.

Desmond agrees, reluctantly, with the condition that Layton also disguises himself while with him for his own safety. Layton obliges.

And then I suppose I'd have to figure out Spectre's Call, and so-forth! Please feel free to give ideas, I feel like I tend to only go as deep as base-level aesthetics and ideas and I fail at really digging into the meat of an AU.

Is it too edgy that Layton would go that far? I thought so a little, but everyone I know with siblings said that in his position, they'd do the same. Hm...

Dark Blue Shadow chapter 3: The Hat that binds (part 2)

After dinner and then prepared for bed Luke thinks to himself looking towards the night sky if he would ever get the chance to solve Clive's untimely fate. Wanting to know what truly happened he tries to look over his already written notes finding a possibility even though it's just his own speculations. He knows that his already conflicted feelings towards the man he knew for only a short while did unforgivable acts that he shouldn't associate himself with this case but he understands that Clive was trying to do the right thing in the end. Luke can't help to feel like it's his responsibility as both a detective and gentleman to solve this puzzle as he feels like Clive didn't deserve such an end.

Luke so lost in his thoughts late through the night looks to the hat thinking probably any kind of answers may appear but knows it won't work. "Clive I have so many questions running through my head that I wish I could just make the solution appear in front of me." Luke says looking dejected. "Maybe if I can just speak with you I could better understand everything." Luke frustrated with his current situation.

Luke then decides it'll be best to hold on until morning grabbing his sleepy time companion getting hidden beneath his fluffy blue blanket. He snuggles ever so close to his pillow as he starts to feel the call of slumber making it's way towards him. As Luke begins his journey to dreamland he all the sudden hears a familiar voice calling out for his mentor.

"Alright professor I'm here. Hmm where is the professor? I could of sworn he said that he would be here." The familiar voice sounding lost catches the young detectives attention. "Have I gotten myself lost? I don't remember exactly when I left. Am I already at the Professor's place?" The voice continues looking around the current surroundings analyzing each nook and cranny.

"Well this place isn't actually the image that I have pictured. I didn't expect the professor to be into stuff animals much." The voice continues on until it makes it's way towards the bed. Luke still hidden beneath his blanket feels a strong yank as the blanket flies to the other side of the room. Luke forced to turn around locks eyes with his current uninvited roommate.

The detective finally seeing who is staring at him sees the man who bears a face similar to his own. With the sudden shock of both there's a brief moment of total silence until the realization of the other's presence. "Clive!" "Luke!" Both sides screamed the others name as confusion and shock fill the atmosphere.

Haha well I dunno about a whole AU per se, but it was an obsession of mine for a while. :P

If it was, it’d be in a remote and superstitious town. I’d desperately want to break the classic PL mould of there being a logical explanation. I’ll keep my Actual Lycanthroply, thank you!!

Part of the mystery is other werewolves attacking folks, and the question of why Layton keeps his sanity when he transforms. Layton, Luke and Flora have to try saving the town while not being mistaken for the bad wolves. 😬

This is always at the back of my mind so maybe one day I’ll make it a larger thing. 🤷🏽

Hello ! I had a beautiful sunday thank you :D I actually met @lutiaslayton while drawing the comic. She saw all those spelling mistake and was like "bro, you need help." And she super kindly took some of her time to help me with the translation of dialogues. You absolutly have to chek her work and art ! She has so much talent and her story are fascinating (a huge big brain energy there, I'm telling you )Also, she helps with a lot of translation around the Layton fandom ! For real, we all owe her so much (it's insane) ! So go subscribe to her work >:(( Anyway, I got the idea after the NWOS announcement which throw me back on my Layton obsession (I never truely left, but I wasn't active on it anymore) And... I don't know, I thought about how it's hard to lose a friend, especially during teenage years and realise that just after that, Hershel went in an other town, away from family and he's supposed to met Clark, Brenda Claire (and pretty much every adult of the frenchise there). So I started a little comic, it was suppose to be just a one shot and I sent it to my sister who really enjoyed it. So I thought about posting it here :) Then I started to have a lot of different ideas and headcanon... And Bam, here we are :D

So what if, in my Clive Triton AU, one of Clive's friends was Naiya, the singer NPC in Misthallery?

It's like, have you ever had the experience where you're the only kid exactly your own age at the social function, and everyone else is either way younger or way older than you, so you end up awkwardly clinging to the one other kid who's reasonably in your age bracket?

I realized that Last Specter has a lot of kids Luke's age, and not many characters in their teens and early twenties, so I had to wonder who Clive could have spent time with in town after he was first adopted.

It was just a silly idea in the beginning, but now I'm kind of attached to the idea of Naiya and Clive hanging out lol. Even if she's a few years older than him, I feel like their personalities would balance out well.
