I’d like to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving Holiday. Please remember those who are less fortunate and if you have a couple extra dollars, please buy a bag of groceries and donate them. • Be thankful for the people you have in your life, your family and friends. Be thankful for the memories you have from of the people who have passed on. 2022 has been an incredible tough year for me and for several of my friends. I’ve lost a few of my friends and it’s rocked my world. Please be there for your friends, your family. If you pray, please do so for the people you care for even if they’ve become distant. On behalf of Demri’s Mom & Brother, I’m sharing this new photo of Demri on what would’ve been her 53rd birthday. • —————————————————— Photographer & friend of Demri’s Krista Kay (Wheeler) said the sweetest thing to me yesterday; she said that Demri would’ve loved social media. I completely agree. 18 months ago I had a plan to decorate my existing cigar boxes. I didn’t really have a plan with out I’d be going about it. That idea became a MUST-DO, when friend/photographer Alison Dyer, released never-before-seen pics of Layne & Demri. My thoughts became more focused and the fog over my pupils slowly receded. My thoughts were to create a few boxes & donate a portion of the proceeds to the Layne Staley Fund through Therapeutic Health Services (THS). I approached friend/photographer Alison Dyer and she graciously agreed to let me do a very very small number. This is the 1st one. I had hoped to do more than just the 1 box at this point, but life happens. I’ve been creating other boxes for other people with different images. I should also be very clear, I’m NOT taking orders for these, I can’t . My time is very limited. When time permits I’ll start working on them again. My ultimate plan is to work with other photographers. I am working with my BFF Paul Hernandez with his images. More to come on that project at a later time. ——————————————————— a lot of PREP time goes into creating boxes like this. Cutting out napkins, detail work, distressing, etc. For this box to turn out as well as it did, I’m proud. I’ve since refurbished 3 of my old/antique wood boxes. Those turned out well. This box itself, is not big at all. It’s about 6”x6”x4” depth. My friend Marisa now owns this. Thank you to Alison Dyer who saw what I wanted to do and allowed me to proceed. This pics is from 1992 while Layne, Demri & the guys were at Joshua Tree. They went to LA to start recording Dirt - however, the LA riots had started after the police officers were found not guilty for the beating assault on Rodney King. I’ll have to share part of the interview that Dave Jerden did talking about the recording during this time. In fact, the riots started the very first day of recording. My latest mixed media project is finished. I do love scented candles! Right after Christmas I found a large 36% soy candle on Etsy - they are also made to order. The best thing about this - the wax is poured into a handcrafted ceramic pot. Therefore, the pot could have an end use - which means less waste. I will definitely purchase another one of these candles and the customer service - Top Notch - here’s the link www.etsy.com/listing/1042255252 - the sellers name is Kala French at Wize Owl Candles. I don’t know what I’ll use the pot for after I’ve burned the candle - but I love creating and seeing the outcome!
