in light of the obvious eroticism of scars I do not think we discuss enough the eroticism of having been the one to piece someone back together. of looking at them and knowing that they will always bear the marks of your work, every time their heart beats and their lungs draw breath, bc YOU stitched them back together. you cheated fate and you crafted a miracle out of your own two hands and a pile of their viscera, and they’ll forever be the living proof of it. they are perfect, from their bones to their guts to their skin, and you made them this way; it feels like blasphemy, like getting away with something to be able to lay claim to their perfection like this. like I’m just saying.

Royed thoughts:
Another one of my favorite tropes in royed fics, is that Roy is the romantic sappy one and Ed is the possessive one. Like yes reverse that old yaoi stereotype. I just love seeing Roy being so gone for Ed and being so sappy and romantic about it. The inner monolog of Roy Mustang (the supposed ladies man) as he describes every bit that he loves about fullmetal while angsting over why their love can never be. Meanwhile Edward Elric is laying claim on Roy after the millionth time he had to save his ass from a assignation attempt. Just give me all the hopeless tragic romantic Roy, the damsel in distress Roy. And give me an Ed(usually post canon) who knows what he wants, and what he wants is Roy. All while saving his life again.

I imagine that tharn’s thought process upon Phaya showing up at his place was 1. What the hell are you doing here 2. What the hell are you talking about 3. Oh we’re making out now okay and 4.*no thoughts head empty*

So hey, following Zionist logic, since humans are believed to originate in Africa, does that mean the Europeans were right to colonize it as their “birthright”? 🤓
Or no my bad if the oppressor isn’t a Christian European it’s not oppression and it doesn’t count as genocide when the victims are Arab.
Gotcha.

wow I didn't think we'd see more clips before the movie was out but FUN FACT: I do this. I animated this scene.
When asked if I wanted more acting shots or more action shots early on in production, I said acting and ended up being assigned this ENTIRE Pickles being mom in church scene (almost! some of the reverse shots other people on the team did).
It was one of my favorite scenes to work on, probably one of my favorite scenes in the whole movie (and I'm not being biased hahaha)

I don't think that framing "Marginalized™️ Atheism/Deconstruction" and "Cishet White Male Atheism/Deconstruction" as inherently ~separate and distinct~ is super effective (and disclaimer I'm specifically speaking about my experience with christianity, atheism, and ex christian atheists/deconstructors), but also... okay so I was raised in a cult, and cults are oppressive for all its members. Nobody gets out unscathed, everyone experiences the abuse tactics, everybody is a victim. But within the cult there is a hierarchy, and cishet white men are at the top. So while the cult is oppressive to everyone, and everyone is harmed in some way, it is also uniquely oppressive to queer folks, to BIPOC, to disabled folks, to women, etc etc. And the thing that happens to some of those cishet white men is they leave an oppressive cult, where they are considered the "default", and they go into the ~real world~, where they are also considered the "default", and even in atheist/deconstruction spaces, their bodies and experiences are often the leading voices.
The men that leave go from an oppressive patriarchal culture to a far less oppressive (to them) patriarchal society. The white people that leave go from an oppressive racist culture to a far less oppressive (to them) racist society. The people that leave go from an oppressive culture that does not value marginalized voices to a different, less oppressive culture that also does not value marginalized voices. And if you personally do not experience [xyz] oppression, it can be difficult to even realize there are things surrounding that you have to deconstruct unless you listen to the voices of the oppressed. But some cishet white men go from being considered the "default" in an oppressive culture, to being considered the "default" in a less oppressive culture (to them). Their experience of "overcoming systemic oppression" comes from leaving the church, and it can be really easy to fall into the trap that the church, specifically, is the sole oppressor and enemy of everyone.
Of course this doesn't happen in every single case and it's also not exclusive to cishet white men. But those blind spots are why I think it's important for everyone to listen to a variety of voices when they're deconstructing, especially if those voices are talking about oppression you wouldn't have experienced firsthand.
No, our deconstructions are not inherently different, but the experiences and circumstances prior to it often are. It's okay to acknowledge that and beneficial for everybody to listen to each other's experiences.

so interesting to think that flint might not even be as sincere with his stance against fighting england with the help of the maroons until he had a conversation with the maroon queen like you know he was just throwing out possibilities when he saw mr. scott & realized who he was & realized who his wife was. there's a chance that it was all about war strategy & not a true belief that they can help the slaves break their own chains. or idk. there are hints in S2 but like. i think his true radicalization started only after he was successful in negotiating with the maroon queen so he & his men won't get killed in 3.05 like it's an interesting dimension to his character many have said this before but i can't sleep
